Vidsutniy Posted October 28, 2017 Share Posted October 28, 2017 The game has been out in Japan for a month and in NA for a week, and the only languages available on the JP cartridge is Japanese and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Why is English not an available option? Other games with international releases have all languages available and even automatically translate to the language of your native system. Why not Warriors? The game itself isn't even viewable on the eShop if you try to look at the software through the JP cartridge. While Nintendo may say that region-locking isn't a thing, in a way, they haven't changed at all. There will still be different versions of the game for the different regions (mostly in terms of what languages are available). Warriors came out in JP almost a month before it came out in the US. nocturnal YL Posted October 28, 2017 Share Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) I'm guessing they didn't retrospectively add the other languages back to the Japanese version because they're technically treated as two different games, in terms of the system and publishing arrangements. Japanese Fire Emblem Warriors published by KOEI TECMO GAMES, and overseas Fire Emblem Warriors published by Nintendo based on the Japanese version. The latter cannot decide what the former should do (different publishers is a barrier, but given the nature of Fire Emblem, I think this will happen to a main series game too; for reference, 3DS being region locked notwithstanding, JP Echoes is also in Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese), and there's no incentive for the Japanese version to include other languages when its target markets (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China) are so used to games being in Japanese, with Japanese voices and all. I think there's no Japanese language option for Mario + Rabbids either, and the JP official site indicates that their version will be in Japanese and English (and no Chinese or other European languages). Games like Mario and Zelda were developed with a simultaneous global release in mind from the very beginning, so that's another story. Deva Ashera Posted October 28, 2017 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Why would they add English into the Japanese version via an update? It would only serve around 1% of those with the Japanese version. The Japanese version wasn't intended for an English player, the NTSC and PAL English versions were. Fact is that patching English Subtitles and Voices would be a waste of time, money, and effort as it would be a useless feature for the overwhelming majority of those with the Japanese version.
