Sain's Love Poems #6: Fiora!

Ladies and gentlewomen, tomboys and girls - it is I, the mighty green cavalier Sain. As of late, I have taken up the practice of poetry, that I might regale the whole realm of femaledom with my epic works of manly passion. I implore you to please lie down and immerse yourself in my lyrics as I praise the many beautiful muses in my companionship - in recruitment order!

Poem 1 - For my sweet Lady Lyndis

Who can hit like a mace, yet soothe like a salve,

Fill friends with hope, yet cut foes in half?

Who else aside from her could this be?

Who else lays claim to these qualities?

Lyndis, oh, Lyndis, the sound of that name -

Love me or hate me, I'll love you the same.

Your skin is as fair as Ilia's snow;

Your hair, a deep green, as the grass that does grow

On the plains of Sacae, the source of your pride

Where kinsman and family tragically died.

The last of the Lorca, you still carried on

And fought for the future, courageous and strong.

If not inspired, then what would I be,

By you, who has given a purpose to me?

To fight alongside you is my true desire.

Of all my achievements, not one ranks higher

Than to be your protector, a knight at your call

Who will handle your blows and cushion your falls.

You need not rely on my fellow knight -

That stone-faced companion has half of my might!

I, alone, respect the woman you are;

Your beauty, your passion, your delicate heart.

From the way your hair moves as you brandish your blade

To the way your dress flows once your blows have been laid -

I love it all, indeed, all of that and more

I love everything about you, as stated before -

ARGH! I can't take it, though it send me to Hell...

Can you not be my master and mistress as well?

Spoiler

I've been studying a lot of poetry lately and decided I would mess around with this concept that's been rolling around in my mind. So basically, this is going to be a series of poems in which Sain proclaims his undying love and admiration for... just about every playable female in FE7. Of course, the poetry is terrible (don't go thinking that this is my "best work" or something) but I thought that it might have comedic value for some of you. Since Lyn is the main female lord, her poem is significantly longer than what the other girls are going to be getting. It also lacks a real form, but I plan on putting later poems in Shakespearean sonnet form or something along those lines. If any of you have any feedback, advice, or encouragement, feel free to post below!

10 hours ago, Captain Karnage said:

Sain was a good bro, he never had a support with Lyn and let his bro Kent go for the lady

let us all tip our hats to Sain, who also respects taken women like Louise

Indeed. Imagine the agony!

Why do I get the feeling Sain would get slapped for saying that?

Sain is an awful, insensitive poet. Good thing he doesn't read these aloud.

Poem II - for my clumsy little flower Florina

There is a young girl from the mountainous north

Whose figure has captured my gaze from the start.

Graceful in combat, she's proven her worth

Clumsy in nature, she's stolen my heart.

Her limbs are as dainty as daffodil stems;

Her step is as light as the air she flies through;

Her face glows like diamonds, her eyes are like gems;

Her hair radiates with a bellflower hue.

But she will not have me, or have any man.

Too shy to come closer, too fearful to stand

Here at my side, though my thoughts be pure -

I must find a way, a way to convince her!

Oh dearest Florina, hear this, my plea!

When you fall from the sky, could you please fall on me?

Spoiler

I love Sain and Serra's support conversation, because in it Sain doesn't actually get the girl. REJECTED!

Poem III: to my needy, helpless little cleric Serra

It pains me to say that I don't think you love me

You spit in my face and tell me I'm gross

But please, I beg you, don't think that way of me

While I love all the girls, I love you the most!

I have a confession, a passionate cry

It says I must tell you the way that I feel

From the day I first saw you and looked in your eyes

I knew it'd be more than just scars that you'd heal

Other men think you a pain or a bother

I think of you as an angel of peace

And nothing would I enjoy more than to offer

My life to your service, so take it, now, please!

You need not vassals or servants to love you

I can provide the attention you want

I'll call you "Milady" and make the most of you

And wherever you go, I'll go in front

All I ask in return is that you give me your love

(But if you'd raise your dress a few inches, that'd be a nice touch!)

You're aware he doesn't get Isadora or Louise either, right?

These poems are pretty fun to read though, keep up the good work!

If Sain could get an A support with Louise, she'd definitely ditch Pent and become Sain's true love. Thanks for the compliment! It might be a while before I write Rebecca's, because I have a lot of school right now and I'm experimenting with new poetry styles. I'm glad you've enjoyed what I've written so far!

Poem #4: to my hunter goddess Rebecca:

Readily, readily, I would give myself to thee

E'er the noble gentleman I to you would be

Be you the better hunter, but I could hunt for you

Even though your stinging words may trouble my desire

Consoling you with morning dew though you fight back with fire

Cannot the doors of Heaven open, and show my heart as true?

Anything and everything, I'd give it all for you.

Seems a little short? Pay close attention to the poem and you might find a little secret! If you're poetically challenged or just challenged in general, you can find a hint below:

Spoiler

Look at first letter of every line. If you still can't get it for some reason, the answer is below.

Spoiler

Really? You couldn't figure it out? Fine then. It says, "REBECCA". Keep that in mind next time you have to analyze a poem, as this is a trick certain poets pull a lot.

Spoiler

What do you think I am, a poetry teacher? What do you kids learn in school these days...

Poem #5: The Ballad of Priscilla and the Green Cavalier, to be sung to the tune of "Joe Bowers".

Came Sain unto Priscilla, one sunny Caelin noon

A-ridin' on his stallion, and whistlin' a tune

When dazzled by the beauty before him seemed to glow

Her hair was red as crimson, her face as white as snow

Said Sain unto Priscilla, "Dame, I fear the sun

May cast upon your forehead, and dark your complexion

Allow me then to shade you, protect you from its rays

I'll stand here right beside you, right here for all your days"

Priscilla turned to Sain now, and told him how she felt

"I'd love to take your offer, I feel like I could melt

But have you not a lady, upon whom you must wait?

I fear to take your service from she who needs it great

Then Sain said to Priscilla, "It need not worry you

For I have gained permission from Lyndis as is due

I have changed allegiance, from now I shall serve thee

Lonely be no longer, you'll have my company."

Spoiler

An alternate retelling of Sain/Priscilla's A Support.

i've never actually listened to "Joe Bowers", but I've got an annoying brother-in-law who plays "I'm a Good Old Rebel" all of the time.

Poem # 6: For my war-weary maiden Fiora:

Astride your pegasus astute

You stand firm and resolute

But your composure's grace is moot

If you throw your life away.

So when you're on the battlefield

Allow me to be your shield

And I swear I shall not yield

If you'll let me save your day.

What is pain? What is disease?

Are they not but petty fleas ?

Should they dictate as they please

And force me away from you?

Fair Fiora, and about my comrade Kent...

Wait, everything's going dark... but my...

Fiora? What's... happening...

*thud*

Spoiler

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I've been writing "real" poetry for school, but hopefully I can get back to working here consistently.

The strange ending is a hint at Sain and Fiora's B support.

*claps*

Those are really well done!! I don't really read poetry that often but decided this would be the only exception, since Sain is my favorite FE7 character. Worth it in the end! It's very in-character and I adore them oh-so much. You should RP as him sometime!
