Spoiler
  1. When did you play this game the first time?
  2. How did you get introduced into this game?
Apart from the Archanaea and Tellius games this was the only one I hadn't played yet in the series. Tellius is too expensive and difficult to emulate, so this was the next one I wanted to play.
  3. Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy?
ROM, I don't own any old consoles and don't speak Japanese
  4. Have you played it before or after FE4?
    After
  5. Was FE5 your first FE game?
    No
  6. How often have you finished the game yet?
    Once
  7. How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?
    Uh, dunno
  8. Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet?
    Yes
  9. Have you recruited all characters yet?
No, only played it once, so didn't get to recruit the characters from the other route. Also, I didn't feel like recruiting Xavier, maybe my second playthrough.
  10. Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters?
Only played one route, so can't compare them
  11. Which three things do you really like in FE5?
    Capturing, Fatigue, the story/setting
  12. Which three things do you really dislike?
Missing heal staves, missing Physic staves and missing unlock staves
  13. Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning?
Yes, capturing is amazing, I love how you have to analyze risks vs rewards and how resources can become scarce if you're not careful. Fatigue is nice too, it forces you to use more than just 1 or 2 broken units, the lower caps also supplement this purpose.
  14. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly?
Kind of, it can be a bit rough on your first playthrough and editing your formation would've been great, but for the most part it was executed well.
  15. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas?
That's tough, but since it was the first game to have rescue and had a lot of unique mechanics, I might just agree
  16. Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game?
Yes, the enemy has some stupid stuff, but so do you. Scrolls, cannon fodder and low caps make almost every unit usable, which can't be said about most other games. Dismounting also makes the cavalry<=>infantry balance good.
  17. How would you rank the difficulty in this game?
Harder than FE4, 7, 8, 13 (Most difficulity on lunatic is just getting lucky, not strategy), BR, REV, CQ hard and Echoes.
Comparable to FE6 hard, and easier than CQ lunatic (going off of hearsay on that last one, I disliked that game so much I didn't feel like playing it again of my first run which was on hard)
I will say, it seems like the game is easier on your 2nd playthrough and onward.
  18. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind?
No, I tend to play semi-blind (so check what's in the houses, when reinforcements arrive and how to recruit characters, but do NOT look up stats/strategies/advice etc), which I recommend for this game as well.
  19. Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time?
Look up how to get your dancer, promote early and don't hoard staves too much.
  20. Who's your favorite character personalitywise?
Can't pick between Finn and Sety, I really like them both
  21. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise?
Nanna, I love stave users, even more so in this game and she's mounted and a good combatant as well. Canto+Heal is dope and earth sword is nice as well.
  22. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)?
Apart from the already mentioned Nanna, Asvel was a great bosskiller early on and Karin was great as well.
  23. What's your favorite chapter?
I liked the defend chapter, chapter 14, open fire, just tons of stuff going on, thiking about whether or not to leave your defensive spot to kill a ballista/capture some healers.
Honourable mention to chapter 13, the stronghold, I used an all cavalry team there and it reminded me of what I liked the most of FE4, I really enjoyed just cantoing around. This chapter was a bit too easy but fun nonetheless.
  24. What's your favorite map theme?
  25. What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)?
Due to trouble picking and remembering when everything played, here's just my 3 overall favourites:
In the Battle ~ Crisis, End of Chapter ~ Victory Minor and Leaf Army ~ In Search of the Victory ~ Adversity
  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game?
Not outstanding, but I quite like the simplicity of most portraits.
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game?
Great, I love the "low scale problem", so no saving the continent from a dragon, but rather Leif's personal struggle in reclaiming his homeland, I really like it, it's probably my favourite in the series.
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?
A solid 10 from me, like I said, I love the worldbuilding/setting, the development of Leif et cetera, great story.
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?
8.5, I'm not comfortable with giving a 9 due to the nonsense the game likes to throw at you, and some mechanics that only came later like supports and formation not being around yet, but I did really like it
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10?
    9 overall, really good
  31. Does FE5 need a remake?
It doesn't need one, but it would be nice if they stay true to the original and only update graphics and add minor "quality of life" changes, like a stave fix and supports. I doubt it will happen though, it seems too different from the other games in the series
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch?
Not sure what the most recent patch is like, but mine had a buggy endgame and no menu/weapon translation, so if that's still the case, then yes
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future?
Definitely, I still want to try the other route, perhaps try recruiting Xavier. It also seems like a blast to draft. I will probably do some number of FE1/3/11/12 first though.

Spoiler
  1. When did you play this game the first time?
    1. Probably 10ish or so years ago?
  2. How did you get introduced into this game?
    1. I used to be on a message board that RAVED about FE4. So I played FE4, and inevitably moved on to FE5.
  3. Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy?
    1. Rom. Not that it did much good, since the translations that suck today were even worse back then.
  4. Have you played it before or after FE4?
    1. After.
  5. Was FE5 your first FE game?
    1. Nah. Blazing Blade was, like many people who got into the series prior to Awakening/Fates.
  6. How often have you finished the game yet?
    1. I probably play through it once every year or two.
  7. How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?
    1. Nowadays I can probably get through it in 20 hours.
  8. Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet?
    1. Yes.
  9. Have you recruited all characters yet?
    1. Yes.
  10. Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters?
    1. B. I like Miranda more than Sleuf, and Shanam's the best joke character in the series, boosting Mareeta even more and just being fun to have around. An earlier Sara is nice, too.
  11. Which three things do you really like in FE5?
    1. Unit balance. Practically everyone is useful, and it's the only game that has made leveling up late-game, underleveled units feel fun.
    2. The map and objective design. It's got probably the most engaging gameplay flow in the franchise, which I didn't really feel any other game trying to recreate outside of Fates: Conquest and some of Radiant Dawn.
    3. Homer.
  12. Which three things do you really dislike?
    1. 1-99% hit rates.
    2. Status staves lasting the whole chapter.
    3. Warp tiles.
  13. Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning?
    1. I'd like to see capturing back, and supposing they can balance them, personalized promotions(IE Machyua becoming a Hero, Mareeta, Shiva and Troude becoming Swordmasters, Miranda becoming a Mage Knight, Asbel becoming a Sage), Fatigue, if reworked, could have some fun uses. Maybe something like the Scrolls for fixing unbalanced units if you need to. PoR tried to do this with the Bands, but they were so minimal it wasn't really even worth it.
  14. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly?
    1. Somewhat. I do agree it has a lot of rough edges that had potential to elevate the game more than it does, but kind of fell flat sometimes.
  15. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas?
    1. Yes.
  16. Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game?
    1. As far as unit balance, yes. Everything else is a little all over the map.
  17. How would you rank the difficulty in this game?
    1. Probably 8-9/10 on your first playthrough. 5-6/10 on subsequent ones. A lot of the difficulty is mitigated when you know what's coming and know how to use the tools you're given.
  18. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind?
    1. Absolutely.
  19. Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time?
    1. Don't give up at chapter 4.
    2. ALWAYS let Leif escape.
    3. Get Homer.
  20. Who's your favorite character personalitywise?
    1. Homer.
  21. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise?
    1. Homer.
  22. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)?
    1. HOMER Actually probably Orsin/Othin
  23. What's your favorite chapter?
    1. 14
  24. What's your favorite map theme?
    1. Can't say. FE soundtracks never stay with me. If I played the maps over I could probably go "Ohhh, this map theme. I love this one" quite a few times, but nothing that immediately jumps to mind.
  25. What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)?
    1. Same deal here.
  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game?
    1. It's great. The portraits are all good, the official art is all good. Pretty much every female unit wears pants! The general designs and artstyle are all great.
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game?
    1. It's really good. Instead of this grand epic like nearly every other game, it's just a game about Leif. Probably the most human and character-centric story in the franchise, which gives it a lot of charm, even if the narrative and actual story aren't mind-blowing by any means.
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?
    1. 8/10
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?
    1. 9/10
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10?
    1. 9.5/10
  31. Does FE5 need a remake?
    1. Yes.
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch?
    1. YES HOLY SHIT YES. Even the Kaga games AFTER he left Nintendo have decent translations. It's been like 15 years and there isn't a single cohesive translation of the game. Why?
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future?
    1. Yes.

When did you play this game the first time?
Around 2011
How did you get introduced into this game?
Played it back when I was interested in giving all the FE games a try
Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy?
ROM
Have you played it before or after FE4?
I think before (though I definitely beat FE5 long before FE4)
Was FE5 your first FE game?
No
How often have you finished the game yet?
Just once
How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?
Unsure but I'll estimate a good 30-40 hours
Have you recruited all characters yet?
Asides from Route B characters and Ilios, yep. Xavier was interesting, to say the least.
Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters?
A, since it doesn't have forests with random warp tiles, doesn't have a giant barrage of ballista. Sleuf (high staff rank) and Amalda (has staff rank) are definitely more useful than Miranda and Conomore.
Which three things do you really like in FE5?
Capturing, The Blizzard Tome and Thief Staff
Which three things do you really dislike?
Extremely High Stat Variance, Shaky RNG (due to 1RN, bad weapon accuracy and the 1-99 hit rule) and some of the more cheap surprises this game has in store.
Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning?
Fatigue could end up being much better if Fatigue didn't force one to sit out but rather lower their stats to the point where combat isn't viable (this still allows one to recruit units) and disallow use of staves.
Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly?
I can get behind this statement. This game just needs to fix fatigue and the awful stat variance. Maybe also give the weapon balance a slight adjustment and point out some nasty surprises and this game could end up being pretty good.
Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas?
No, since I feel that FE12's introduction to varied difficulties and it's new AI rules make its gameplay more engaging than FE5's
Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game?
Not at all. Character balance is quite shaky, along with the weapon balance too.
How would you rank the difficulty in this game?
7.5/10 first time but I feel like it'll be more 6/10 on a second playthrough and beyond
Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind?
Not until there is a better translation patch that gets one acquainted with the game mechanics more sufficiently.
Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time?
1. Make sure everybody escapes before Leif
2. Don't be hesitant to sell useless weapons for cash.
3. Capturing is an essential mechanic not only for getting weapons but also for making money.

Who's your favorite character personalitywise?
Salem, hands down. His backstory is pretty interesting.
Who's your favorite character gameplaywise?
Asvel, since he becomes a decent magic user once he gets going and he can wreck specific groups of enemies when given the right tools.
Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)?
Asvel, Sara, Halvan (got Def blessed), Olwen, Tina (she steals lots of goodies with ease)
What's your favorite chapter?
Ch. 19. It's quite a tense chapter with quite a bit of side objectives and a fair number of threats. The concept of stealing two Blizzard tomes is also pretty nice.
What's your favorite map theme?
Player - Advance (Ch. 5, 6, 7, 8, 19 map theme)
Enemy - Dark Bishops (Ch. 16B, Ch. 24x map theme)

What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)?
Regular Boss Battle Theme
What's your opinion of the art in this game?
Haven't really payed too much attention to the art but I suppose it does its job just fine.
What's your opinion of the story in this game?
I thought it was decent but I'm not really a good judge of character of story. I feel like Leaf's struggles and him find a way through them is the highlight of the story.
How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?
8/10
How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?
5/10
How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10?
6/10
Does FE5 need a remake?
Perhaps for the sake of giving everybody access to it through a legal medium. They should keep most of the integral game mechanics and scrap the high stat variance, along with implementing the idea for fatigue mentioned earlier.
Does FE5 need a better translation patch?
It needs one badly. Garbled Text and Memes make for a horrendous translation patch.
Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future?
I'm definitely giving this another go once Naga's translation patch is out. Another translation patch that isn't complete garbage also works too.

Spoiler

When did you play this game the first time?

     Last November

How did you get introduced into this game?

I'd heard about it from a bunch of different places. Youtubers, forums, the usual

Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy?

Nope, no Rom, totally played it in English legally. Nothing to see here...

Have you played it before or after FE4?

     Shortly after

Was FE5 your first FE game?

     Nope

How often have you finished the game yet?

     Beat it once

How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?

Wasn't keeping track. Probably around 15-20 or so?

Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet?

     Nope. Missed 21x

Have you recruited all characters yet?

     Nope

Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters?

A, definitely. Though the 2nd Pugi on B is tempting

Which three things do you really like in FE5?

Capturing (specifically for this game), Leadership stars and permanent poison (makes more sense)

Which three things do you really dislike?

Permanent everything else, 99 Hit ceiling (1 Hit floor isn't actually that bad) and lack of the ability to reposition units

Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatigue (in main game) returning?

I like the idea of fatigue, but I'd prefer a variation of Echoes' system that actually affects the main story. I think PCC and Movement Stars could return as class-specific skills (something along the lines of PCC for Myrmidons and Movement Stars for Thieves)

Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly?

Yeeeeees! I'd love to be able to say that I absolutely love the game, but there are just too many hurdles in the way of that in the game's current state.

Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas?

Not the best overall, but it definitely has a lot of good ones

Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game?

I've always seen balance as one of the highest points in the game, so I think I'll actually agree with this. There are so many factors other than raw stats to take into consideration when determining if a unit is good or not. Sure, there are still some units that are painfully below average (Selfina's shit squad says hi), but I can't think of any character that has absolutely NO worth. (Especially with Crusader Scrolls taken into account)

How would you rank the difficulty in this game?

Most of it is only hard either when playing blind or because of RNG. As far as genuine difficulty goes, I'd say around 5 or 6/10

Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind?

     Absolutely not

Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time?

     1. Don't be afraid to look up guides (In fact, do it often or you WILL miss something important)

     2. Don't ignore the capture command for the entire early game and be nearly forced to restart your playthrough. Not that I know from experience or anything.

     3. Use Orsin

Who's your favorite character personality wise?

That's tough. I don't really pick one "favorite" for anything. My top few would probably be Leif, Orsin, Mareeta and Ced

Who's your favorite character gameplay wise?

     Orsin

Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)?

     See above

What's your favorite chapter?

      6. I dare say it's one of the best chapters in the series

What's your favorite map theme?

     Advance A. So damn catchy

What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)?

The enemy phase battle theme. That's what an adrenaline rush sounds like

What's your opinion of the art in this game?

No strong opinion, but it's pretty nice.

What's your opinion of the story in this game?

One of the better stories in the series, actually.

How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?

      Around 7 or 8

How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?

     6

How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10?

Damn, this is hard. I guess I'll say 7 for now.

Does FE5 need a remake?

     YES

Does FE5 need a better translation patch?

As in a complete one? Yeah, it'd be nice to not have to choose between legible menus or dialogue. Hopefully the one in progress now actually gets finished before too long. I'll miss In America tho

Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future?

I will at some point to get the stuff I missed during my first playthrough, but after that, I don't know

  • When did you play this game the first time?
  • Summer of 2014.
  • How did you get introduced into this game?
  • Well it's in the series so I was bound to get to it eventually.
  • Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy?
  • Ha. Rom of course.
  • Have you played it before or after FE4?
  • After
  • Was FE5 your first FE game?
  • Previous question kind of makes this one redundant. I'd be surprised if you get many yeses.
  • How often have you finished the game yet?
  • Just the once
  • How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?
  • Eh, remembering a while back. I'd estimate 20-30, maybe 40.
  • Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet?
  • I believe so.
  • Have you recruited all characters yet?
  • All the characters I could on one route as I've only played it once. So no Shannam :(
  • Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters?
  • I've only played A.
  • Which three things do you really like in FE5?
  • Cast balance, stave wars and enemy formations.
  • Which three things do you really dislike?
  • Leif's promotion, Bloom's lack of presence and the mild continuity differences between it and Holy War.
  • Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning?
  • Yes. But I think it would need to narrative fit the game like it did Thracia. Would like to see it back but not as a staple of the series if you catch my drif.
  • Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly?
  • No. It's a damn fine game as it is. Some missteps but not significantly more than others.
  • Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas?
  • Possibly. For me it would be a toss up of Thracia, Sword of Seals, Shadow Dragon and Shadows of Valencia.
  • Oh wait, ideas. Yeah, it really added a lot. Is basically the template for all Fire Emblem games that came after it even if it doesn't resemble them a whole lot at first glance.
  • Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game?
  • Balanced in what way? Probably has the most balanced cast but balanced difficulty? No way, early Munster chapters are a lot harder than what proceeds it and stuff like Chapter 24x with it's random invisible trap tiles that can forever cut you off from your units exists.
  • How would you rank the difficulty in this game?
  • It's notoriously noob unfriendly and I've only played it once as a noob so it's hard to say. I know it's the kind of difficulty I like but to rank it against other games in the series isn't a good comparison as it's quite different in that regard.
  • Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind?
  • Yes, to a certain extent. I think for their own benefit they should know the requirements for the Gaiden chapters.
  • Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time?
  • If you steal an enemies stuff and there's a shop on the map, they'll buy a weapon, you can then steal that weapon and repeat for infinite money. Use Leif, he might seem weak but scrolls can make him pretty great and the fact that he's excluded from fatigue makes him great for wearing down enemy ballistas and stuff. Don't be afraid to drop units or even let them die. There's plenty more where they came from and low enemy stats mean most are viable even without much investment.
  • Who's your favorite character personalitywise?
  • August and Lifis come to mind first. Man I love Shannam too even if I've never recruited him.
  • Who's your favorite character gameplaywise?
  • Orsin. Because Pugi is the best weapon in the series bar none.
  • Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)?
  • Orsin. Because Pugi is the best weapon in the series bar none.
  • What's your favorite chapter?
  • I like all the early Munster chapters in general except maybe the first. They each bring something new to the table and create a great sense of atmosphere. The final chapter is also possibly the best final chapter in the series.
  • What's your favorite map theme?
  • NA. None stick out in my mind right now.
  • What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)?
  • Once again I'm not remembering any. Remember a few from FE4 though.
  • What's your opinion of the art in this game?
  • It's pretty standard.
  • What's your opinion of the story in this game?
  • Good. Would obviously like some more personality from the more minor characters but I do like how it's so focused on Leif and his journey.
  • How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?
  • A 6, but bear in mind I typically rank pretty hard.
  • How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?
  • 8
  • How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10?
  • 8
  • Does FE5 need a remake?
  • I think it could do with one. Fix some of the issues it has and also give us base conversations and supports and stuff. Would be nice. Have enough things in mind for changes that I compiled a list.
  • Does FE5 need a better translation patch?
  • If those heroes in the last few chapters still freeze the game then yes, definitely yes.
  • Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future?
  • I would actually really like to play it again and take route B. But I've kind of decided to do a run through without useing any staves which makes the task seem a bit too daunting to start. I'm sure I'll get to it some day though.

Spoiler

When did you play this game the first time? Fall 2015.

How did you get introduced into this game? I was kind of playing my way through the series, and it was FE5's turn.

Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy? The illegal way or the high way.

Have you played it before or after FE4? Before, got bored with FE4's long maps and fixed RNG so I procrastinated on that.

Was FE5 your first FE game? No

How often have you finished the game yet? Twice, once in the original run and once in a Christmas challenge, which was about only using units that convert to you from Red or Green parties.

How many hours do you usually need to complete this game? No idea, probably needed around 20-40 hours of playing back then. It's less now.

Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet? Yes, on both runs.

Have you recruited all characters yet? I don't recall recruiting Conomore and the B route exclusives, so no.

Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters? A, both. Haven't even tried B and from all I've heard it sounds like shit (not letting public op influence me but I know FE5 and have seen the maps and it kinda confirms that it's probably shit)

Which three things do you really like in FE5? Capturing, Escape chapters, all-20 caps

Which three things do you really dislike? Stat fluctuation and the unnecessary brokenness of many items. Dunno about #3

Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning? Yes. I think both would have to be changed significantly, but I like the ideas.

Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly? Yes, there are great concepts but as a whole it becomes too easy when you understand it.

Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas? No, certainly the most innovative ideas, but I don't think all of them were good and it doesn't win relative to some of the newer FEs.

Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game? No. About the only balanced thing about it is the cast, in that everyone can become really good and most units have some utility. Even then, there are massive differences between units, and otherwise just hell no

How would you rank the difficulty in this game? 5/10. 9 if you're blind, 2 if you know it. Taking the average.

Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind? Yes.

Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time? Use capture, train Leif, have everyone escape before him on maps with red arrow exits

Who's your favorite character personalitywise? No idea, Leif or Ced.

Who's your favorite character gameplaywise? Leif, he's a very well-balanced lord. That can't be said of many lords.

Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)? Asvel, I guess.

What's your favorite chapter? I kind of like C4 and C5 because masochism.

What's your favorite map theme? Manster Escape map BGM

What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)? No idea

What's your opinion of the art in this game? ok

What's your opinion of the story in this game? I like it

How would you rank the story from 1 to 10? 7

How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10? 6

How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10? 6 (should've said 7, 7, 6, heh, too bad that doesn't make sense)

Does FE5 need a remake? No

Does FE5 need a better translation patch? Not for me, but it sure needs it.

Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future? Yes, definitely

  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game? I like it. It's grounded, clean, and for the first time in the series it looks professional.
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game? It's a darker story that makes you feel like you're struggling while at the same time managing to have a happy ending.
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10? 8 out of 10
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10? 7 out of 10
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10? 7 out of 10
  31. Does FE5 need a remake? It could use one, but it's at the back of the line in terms of remake priority until Genealogy gets remade.
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch? Yes I would like one that doesn't make endgame Mercenaries crash the game.
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future? Sometime, but not today.

  12. How would you rank the difficulty in this game? The toughest one in the series. Fates Conquest is an appetizer for those interested in trying this out.
  13. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind? Try it out to see how you fare at first. Only use guides if you struggle.
  14. Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time? Mounted units are best for capturing. Arena abuse with Crusader Scrolls when possible. Capturing is your main way of getting items.
  15. Who's your favorite character personalitywise? Leaf.
  16. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise? Othin for the Pugi Axe.
  17. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)? Othin

  24. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10? 9

Spoiler

  1. When did you play this game the first time? uff ... maybe like 5 years ago? Dunno actually,
  2. How did you get introduced into this game? At some point I basically played backwards (my first game was 10) through the series and this eventually brought me to FE5.
  3. Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy? As I can't read japanese it has to be the rom + translation patch although I would not hesitate to buy it if it were to be localized.
  4. Have you played it before or after FE4? here I am actually not sure ... I guess it was after FE4 due to plot-coherence.
  5. Was FE5 your first FE game? FE10 was my first one so no.
  6. How often have you finished the game yet? 2 times I think. My first run utilized save state abuse at some points because I sucked back then but I recently finished another run where I used almost no save states (only in situations where I wanted to avoid spending another 5-10 minutes with simply running around)
  7. How many hours do you usually need to complete this game? no Idea :D
  8. Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet? I have never been in 24x and I probably never will go to it because I don't wanna deal with those rewarping dark mages and neither the kia staff nor Eyvel are necessary (or even especially helpful) to complete the game.
  9. Have you recruited all characters yet? I think I know what this question is about ... and no I haven't recruited Xavier (or Misha for that matter) yet. And I don't know if I ever will ... maybe I will try next time but I am not going to spend like hours for recruting a mediocre unit. :V
  10. Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters? I consider the A route more rewarding in terms of characters and items but I also consider it being more complicated when it comes to actual chapter design.
  11. Which three things do you really like in FE5? 1. the fact that the game is "balanced" by making EVERYTHING broken. 2. the fact, that stats are not actually that important. 3. Wrath.
  12. Which three things do you really dislike? 1. enemys with movement stars. 2. staff misses. 3. that you can't rearrange your starting positions directly.
  13. Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning? Actually no. I like these things in FE5 but most of them won't work too well in "modern" Fire Emblem games.
  14. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly? I think this can be said about almost every game. It is a fact that the game had more potential than it eventually used but I think overall FE5 did a good job - except that it nigh impossible to finish a blind playthrough without at least repeatedly bashing ones head against the wall.
  15. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas? definitely.
  16. Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game? Hard to tell ... the game IS kinda balanced in a really strange way but It's kinda hard to compare to other games.
  17. How would you rank the difficulty in this game? Nintendo Hard/10 ... but actually I think the game becomes very enjoyable once you start knowing a bit more about the in-game mechanics.
  18. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind? Well, it IS an interesting experience playing this game blind but I'd only recommend it for someone who is very, very, VERY tilt-resistant. Generally there are a few things you should know beforehand but aren't highlighted by the game itself (Leaf has to escape last, you NEED door keys, etc.)
  19. Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time? 1. Leaf has to escape last! 2. Buy Door Keys! 3. Always try to get useful stuff such as warp staffs and stamina drinks. 4. activating ambush activates the enemy's wrath
  20. Who's your favorite character personalitywise? Marty Fergus
  21. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise? Sara after Dain/Hezul/Neir/Baldo abuse
  22. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)? Wrath!Nanna.
  23. What's your favorite chapter? Chapter 12x I sorta like Chapter 14 but not because it's that awesome but because you get the Dain scroll and it allows you to grind the **** out of your characters.
  24. What's your favorite map theme? The very first one.
  25. What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)? I actually like Veld's battle theme even though he is a scrub.
  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game? I actually like it.
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game? see 28.
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10? Actually I'm not into FE story in general so I didn't pay too much attention. Thus, I won't rate it.
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10? 7.76/10
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10? see 29.
  31. Does FE5 need a remake? yes and no. It would be lovely to get a remake but I don't really trust IS in keeping all of the stuff that made FE5 truly unique :V
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch? Yes!
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future? I AM replaying it at the moment, so yes. :D

  1. When did you play this game the first time? 2014
  2. How did you get introduced into this game? Was playing through all the Fire games at the time.
  3. Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy? ROM
  4. Have you played it before or after FE4? Before. Started and Finished FE4 the week after beating Thracia.
  5. Was FE5 your first FE game? No
  6. How often have you finished the game yet? Three times
  7. How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?  15-18
  8. Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet? Yes
  9. Have you recruited all characters yet?  Yes
  10. Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters? B route
  11. Which three things do you really like in FE5? Capture. Capture. Capture.
  12. Which three things do you really dislike? FE4 references dragging down the plot of chapters after C20. Convoy access being tied to buildings. Skills are a little too powerful on certain player units.
  13. Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning? Yes
  14. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completly? It could be better than the final product, but its potential was always higher than the 4 games preceding it.
  15. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas? No
  16. Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game? If you mean convincing the player to high-man, then yes- Conquest is close, but does have setups like early heart sealing Jakob to draco or nos tanking with Odin.
  17. How would you rank the difficulty in this game?  Below Radiant Dawn/SD /New Mystery / Conquest, in certain aspects also below FE6 and Birthright Lunatic as well. Short answer- The actual arena's in this game are deathtraps, but you still level grind multiple charathers even early on, because Thracia did not care about non-boss non-magic user enemy stats, and the sheer volume of cannon fodder in this game (even without crusader scroll abuse) can let you beef out your units. Also Player use of status staves was less well thought out than in Conquest. Also I abused enemy AI with capture bait to force certain enemies to cripple their own stats. It has it's moments of honest difficulty mixed in with the well known fake difficulty (random moving sub-bosses/ early promoted enemies / resistance but doesn't take more than a week to finish tbh even with the combined efforts of the two. Still kind of dissapointng to me considering how hyped its reputation for difficulty is.
  18. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind? If they play it at all, they should play it blind.
  19. Which three advice would you give someone who will play this game the first time? Have Fire sword in Leaf or Lifis's inventory when ending of chapter 3. Use sleep staves on enemy sleep stave mages.  Guaranteed and near guaranteed critical hit setups are possible on BOTH enemy phase and player phase.
  20. Who's your favorite character personalitywise? August
  21. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise?  Dagda
  22. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)? Asbel
  23. What's your favorite chapter? C8
  24. What's your favorite map theme? C20 and C23
  25. What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)? The generic boss theme > special boss themes.
  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game? Map sprites and graphics are adequate, but the shroud/fog is ugly due to being too severe (compare to early 2000 RTS game shroud or something like Age of Empires) . Character portraits are underwhelming. Generic Enemy portraits seem out of place, with a more Ogre battle esque artsyle than FE imo. Combat art is a mixed bag. The unmounted attack animations are actually some of my favorite in the series. Axe users are fun and over the top. Magic effects are god-awful. Foot sword and lance units are pretty nice, but armors and horses are lackluster due to having too much weight and too little weight respectively.
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game? One of the best in the FE series- however people usually rate "story" as a combination of "plot" and "charathers". This game ONLY cares about its plot, and a most of the recruitable charathers get shafted and are barely improvements on the one-sentence recruited mutes in FE2. Villians, Leaf himself, and his tacticians get a lot of characterization though. Chapters after C22 are kind of anticlimatic because Leaf's big rival is emasculated by a "bigger threat". On paper it shouldn't be that bad since you have a personal connection to Berdo due to the Stoning early, but in practice, it undermines the personal and political hatred that drove Leaf on in certain chapters, in particualr his overeager charge that got Dorias killed.
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?   7 relative to other RPGs, 9 relative to FE stories.
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?  6
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10? 7/10
  31. Does FE5 need a remake? No
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch? Yes
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future? Yes

  1. When did you play this game the first time?
    First clear in 2011.
  2. How did you get introduced into this game?
Thought I'd try all the Fire Emblems, once I found that emulation was a thing.
  3. Do you play it on a rom, or do you even have a physical copy?
Beat it on the rom, then bought a physical cart with a SFC to SNES adapter.
  4. Have you played it before or after FE4?
    Before FE4
  5. Was FE5 your first FE game?
    lolno
  6. How often have you finished the game yet?
    Once
  7. How many hours do you usually need to complete this game?
    At least 40-50.
  8. Have you unlocked all gaiden chapters yet?
    First playthrough.
  9. Have you recruited all characters yet?
Didn't do both routes yet. Also fuck Xavier.
  10. Do you prefer the A or B routes in terms of maps and recruitable characters?
    B. I like trees and another Pugi.
  11. Which three things do you really like in FE5?
    Capturing
All stat caps at 20 so it isn't a stats contest
Level design that forces you to creatively use your units
  12. Which three things do you really dislike?
All the first playthrough "gotcha!" reinforcements.
  13. Would you like to see some unique mechanics like capturing and fatiuge (in main game) returning?
    Yes.
  14. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 had amazing potential, but didn't exhaust it completely?
Well, yeah. Game's aged well in some areas but terribly in others. Not to mention there was that idea that Veld was supposed to be a dragon, an idea only touched upon in the fanhack Super Thracia 776, only the final boss' name is Laufey, who mythologically is the father of Loki (maybe in-game Laufey is Loptyr's creator/parent. I don't know, I don't speak japanese.)
  15. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas?
Capturing, so yeah. Also, pitch-black Fog of War needs to return.
  16. Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game?
It's up there near the top; It incentivizes using both outdoor units for long-range efficiency/rescuing options, while also encouraging ground units for indoor chapters, in which they're more effective.
  17. How would you rank the difficulty in this game?
One of the hardest without going into kaizo "we beef up only the enemy stats" territory.
  18. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind?
Nope. At least a couple of hints here and there, along with explaining the mechanics and 776's tendencies with reinforcements.
  19. Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time?
    Lrn2capture
    Lrn2scrolls
Lrn that escape chapters need you to have Leif escape last.
  20. Who's your favorite character personalitywise?
    Homer. PARTY HARD
  21. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise?
    Homer. PARTY HARD
  22. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)?
Marita can solo Raydrick (or however you spell his name).
  23. What's your favorite chapter?
Final. Actually assumes the player's smart enough to keep their thieves alive and have some keys, and maybe didn't use up their magic effect staves
  24. What's your favorite map theme?

I don't think there's ever been a "near defeat" theme before or after in the series. It stands out.
  25. What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)?
  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game?
It's like a more refined version of FE4's sprite artwork. Battle sprites look cleaner, too.
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game?
I actually love it: in FE1 you went from kingdom to kingdom invading wherever you went, but in FE5 it takes those tropes and flips them upside-down. The hero gets captured, chased, and constantly losing the bigger battles. The difficulty ramps up when you confront the Empire head-on, and it tells through the mechanics of the game that the Empire is nearly-invincible and utterly oppressive. A lot of Fire Emblem games, if not almost all of them tell a tale of a constant string of victories of the protagonist, but here Leif loses, and a lot at that. It humanizes him, portrays him as an imperfect Gary Stu who wins out every single time, and it makes the times he does win against the Empire all the more satisfying. Yeah, it ends midway through FE4 Part 2, but it does set up for a satisfying payoff if you played Part 1 first, then 776, then Part 2.
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10?
9.5. It does enough differently, and most importantly, tells the story through the MECHANICS of the game (as in, fighting the Empire directly is an intentionally-designed difficulty spike)
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10?
    8. It's not perfect; no unit positioning placement, and support conversations are nowhere to be found, not to mention the escape chapter mechanics are poorly explained.
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10?
8.5. It's not for everyone, but for anyone looking to get knee-deep in the mechanics and expect the unexpected, it's a hardcore FE player's delight.
  31. Does FE5 need a remake?
Of course it does. Just no Avatar characters, for the love of god.
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch?
Of course it does. Shaya's patch is nice, but the menus are glitchy and not all the dialogue is localization-tier... in America!
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future?
Yeah, if someone retranslates it or a remake is released.

  15. Would you agree with that statement that FE5 has the best gameplay ideas? Yes, other FE games almost feel tame after playing Thracia tbh
  16. Would you agree with the statement that FE5 is the most balanced FE game? I also agree, thanks to fatigue and dismounting. PCC/Skills helps too
  17. How would you rank the difficulty in this game? Very high, but not as impossible as some people claim it to be
  18. Would you recommend someone to play FE5 blind? I still wouldn't, game is too hard and still requires a guide sometimes, BUT it does tell you about most of its cryptic things through its dialogue, so you just gotta pay attention to it
  19. Which three advices would you give someone who will play this game the first time? 1- Capture as much as you can 2- Use your prepromotes 3- Make sure to fulfill as many side objectives as possible
  20. Who's your favorite character personalitywise? Othin :D I like his brash personality, even if he's not THE most deep and well-written character in the game
  21. Who's your favorite character gameplaywise? Olwen! Daim Thunder is really fun to use
  22. Who's usually your MVP in your playthrough(s)? Olwen with a Vantage scroll, otherwise it could be Finn or Homeros
  23. What's your favorite chapter? Chapter 14 - Open Fire
  24. What's your favorite map theme? Leif's theme - or maybe Charge A
  25. What's your favorite battle theme (main battles, boss battles)? Enemy Phase theme, it fits the crisis mood perfectly
  26. What's your opinion of the art in this game? In-game animations and sprites are great - better than FE4, even - and the official art is really pretty too, with its more vibrant colors compared to FE4
  27. What's your opinion of the story in this game? Underrated, it's almost as good as FE4's narrative despite being on a much smaller/personal scale. Leif's development as astonishing
  28. How would you rank the story from 1 to 10? 9/10
  29. How would you rank the gameplay from 1 to 10? 9.5/10
  30. How would you rank the game overall from 1 to 10? 9.776/10
  31. Does FE5 need a remake? It still does, just so that more people may get the motivation to play it
  32. Does FE5 need a better translation patch? ...Is this even a question?
  33. Could you imagine to replay FE5 sometime in the future? Of course, just to say that I have completed the B route

1. first played this game in 2015 or something but lost the save when i was at around chapter 9 or 10, picked it back up a few months ago and played up to chapter 20 then continued the second half of genealogy. plan to return after completing the last couple of chapters of genealogy.

2. i just saw all the fire emblem games that existed and i thought thracia 776 seemed pretty cool i guess

3.  i play it on a rom

4. played it before genealogy originally then lost the save. started playing it again then decided i should probably play genealogy first when i was pretty early on in the game then continued up to chapter 20 after completing chapter 6 of genealogy

5. not my first fe game

6. haven't finished the game yet

7. ive poured quite a few hours into this game while holding the holy speed up button nearly the entire game

8. i missed 8x because i went tard mode

9. i have not yet recruited all characters.

10. for recruitable units i think i'd prefer the A path because i would love eyrios if i used him, a tanky mage knight sounds like a godsend in this game but i had already trained olwen enough that i didn't want to kill her off for him but if i ever played the game i'd take the A path for eyrios. also the A path looks like it has more fun maps and there's no guarantee mareeta will be blessed enough in my next run that i can warp her into the place with amalda and the cavaliers and ballista and have her wipe the whole cavalry unit as an unpromoted myrmidon in the chapter with amalda.

11. i really like movement stars, capturing, and stealing.

12. i dont like fatigue or how limited knight crests are, i think it would be better to just include a couple more knight crests especially with the existence of the fatigue system, but of all the features i hate the most i fucking hate not being able to reposition units. being unable to reposition has fucked me over so many times

13. i would only want the capture mechanic to return if it was done well. i want stealing to return in general. pretty hard to screw up and i enjoyed it as a mechanic.

14. i think fe5 really did live up to it's potential

15. not sure if i would say it has the best gameplay ideas but i think it has great gameplay ideas and was a very innovative game

16. in no way is this game the most balanced fe game outside of maybe the scroll system helping to allow you to use any unit effectively with scroll abuse

17. this game is really really hard but it isn't just artificial difficulty

18. no one should play fe5 blind

19. my advice would be capture/steal, scroll abuse, and make sure you dont pass up on any scrolls or knight crests if possible.

20. my favorite character personality wise might be someone like homer, he dead ass joins your army just because he wants to fuck nanna

21. my favorite character gameplay wise would probably be someone like mareeta just because she's such a good unit and carries my ass through maps

22. in this playthrough my mvps have been homer, asvel, and mareeta.

23. not sure

24. not sure

25. not sure

26. i really like the art in this game

27. love the story

28. 9/10

29. 9/10

30. 9/10

31. doesn't need a remake but it would be really cool if it got one

32. yes, the story translation is fine but every thing else for the most part outside of character names is bugged text

33. i'd definitely replay this game
