Ayra, Astra's Wielder

"In Isaach, we repay our debts. My sword arm is yours."

Ayra is one of the faster Red Sword units in the game, sporting decent Attack, high Speed, sufficient HP, and decent Defense and Resistance bulk. With her legendary weapon she rivals the likes of some of the fastest units such as Mia, and Lon'qu with their (average of) 40 and 39 Speed, respectively. Ayra's main trade-off is her legendary weapon, Ayra's Blade, which gives her the equivalent of two A skills in one weapon; Spd+3 and Flashing Blade 3. Her base kit already comes with some amazing skills such as Swift Sparrow 2, Desperation 3, and her own unique Special, Regnal Astra, which is something that lets her standout as one of the best infantry sword units in the game.

Level 40 Stats:

HP: 37/41/44
Atk: 30/33/36
Spd: 34/37/40
Def: 28/31/34
Res: 18/21/24

Skills:

Weapon: Ayra's Blade (Sword)
Assist: None
Special: Regnal Astra
A: Swift Sparrow 2
B: Desperation 3
😄 None
Movement: Infantry

Master Duelist:
Used for a variety of adjacent combat. There is quite a variety in here.

Spoiler

Nature: +Spd, -Res / -HP (+Atk is acceptable for certain builds, and not bad in general.)

Weapon: Ayra's Blade / Wo Dao+ (Spd+) / Slaying Edge+ (Spd+)
Assist: Repostion / Varies on Team
Special: Regnal Astra / Aether

A: Atk/Spd Increasing(Life and Death 3 / Swift Sparrow 2 / Fury 3) / Steady Breath
B: Desperation 3 / Wrath 3 / Quick Riposte 3
😄 Varies on Team
SS: Spd+3 / Atk+3 / Close Defense 3

Ayra's Blade + Regnal Astra + Life and Death 3 / Swift Sparrow 2 + Desperation 3 + Spd+3 / Atk+3 - This build makes Ayra a bronze chainsaw. She eventually starts of weaker than steel, but due to her speed she'll be able to reach desperation and nothing will be able to retaliate against her. Life and Death 3 maximizes her Atk and Spd, and rids her of any magical bulk, but Ayra's Def is high enough that it retains a fair amount even after. Swift Sparrow 2 is a budget choice here (as Ayra already comes with it), it lets her keep her defenses, but she misses out on 1 more Atk/Spd. Desperation 3 lets Ayra avoid counter damage, and Regnal Astra will proc, if Ayra can do a follow-up thanks to her legendary weapon. Spd+3 seal is preferred here to let Ayra dominate other units with her high Spd, but Atk+3 can help her do more base damage.

Wo Dao+ (Spd+) + Regnal Astra + Life and Death 3 / Swift Sparrow 2 + Wrath 3 + Spd+3 - Gives Ayra some insane guaranteed damage to inflict on her foes. If with the right IVs Ayra can proc a guaranteed damage of around 40, letting her one shot  HP bars that way (damage percentage mitigation skills will be able to stop it though.). In terms of seals and skills, you want as much Spd for Ayra as possible to giver her more guaranteed damage with her Regnal Astra. Keep in mind Ayra will not be safe against counterattack damage due to running Wrath 3, and not Desperation 3.

Ayra's Blade + Aether + Fury 3 / Swift Sparrow 2 + Wrath 3 + Spd+3 - Due to the inbuilt Flashing Blade 3 in her legendary weapon, Ayra can run an Aether set due to her good defenses, giving her more longevity. Fury 3 increases her bulk allowing her to survive longer so she can proc Aether, and heal up all the damage she's taken. Wrath 3 is made to maximize the damage output from Aether, and give Ayra even more heals that way. Swift Sparrow 2 is an alternative choice because she doesn't suffer as much after each battle, and Fury 3 will leave Ayra at most Max HP - 6 (assuming she can receive no outside heals). Spd+3 is a must have here as Ayra needs it to get faster Special cooldown charge from her weapon's effect.

Slaying Edge+ (Spd+) + Aether + Steady Breath + Wrath 3 / Quick Riposte 3 + Spd+3 / Atk+3 / Close Defense 3 - A final (overkill) build makes use of Ayra being an infantry unit, and running her with the amazing Steady Breath skill. With it Ayra will always be able to proc Aether (thanks to Slaying Edge's cooldown count-1) if she can double the foe when she is under attack. Wrath 3 can be used if one is confident that Ayra will be able to double her foes naturally, while QR 3 can be used to ensure Ayra gets follow-ups. Spd+3 is recommended if running Wrath here, while Atk+3 and Close Defense 3 is better with Quick Riposte 3 build.

Extended Arm:

Used for increasing Ayra's counter range, and utility by allowing her to fight ranged units.

Spoiler

Nature: +Spd,  -HP / -Res (+Atk is acceptable for certain builds, and not bad in general.)

Weapon:  Slaying Edge+ (Spd+) / Ayra's Blade
Assist: Repostion / Varies on Team
Special: Regnal Astra / Aether

A: Distant Counter
B:  Wrath 3 / Desperation 3 / Quick Riposte 3
😄 Varies on Team
SS: Spd+3 / Distant Defense 3 / Atk+3 / Phantom Spd 3

Notes: Ayra's stats are good for DCing. She's like Ryoma, but she has more reliable Spd and Def, can run more A-Slot Type Skills thanks to her weapon, and a broken Special.

Slaying Edge+ (Spd+) + Regnal Astra + Wrath 3 / Quick RIpsote 3 + Spd+3 / Atk+3 / Distant Defense 3 - Slaying Edge+ reduces Regnal Astra to a one turn cooldown, meaning that whenever Ayra is hit she can always proc Regnal Astra back unless the opponent has the Guard skill. Wrath 3 maximizes the damage returned, and Spd+3 seal helps ensure that Ayra can double back her opponent. Quick Riposte 3 is an alternative option that can guarantee damage back at her opponent, in which case Atk+3 seal might be more useful or a Distant Defense 3 seal to protect Ayra more. (-HP is the bane preferred here thanks to Slaying Edge's HP+5 increase, and the need for more Res to protect against blue mages)

Ayra's Blade + Aether + Wrath 3 / Quick Riposte 3 + Spd+3 / Atk+3 / Distant Defense 3 / Phantom Spd 3 - The seals and other skills work pretty much the same here. The difference for this build is it lets Ayra counter ranged units, while also allowing her to heal herself up eventually with Aether. Phantom Spd 3 seal can be used to ensure Ayra gets the Special cooldown charge+1 against faster units. (-Res is preferred here since there's really no point in taking 4 points away from both her physical bulk, and magical bulk.)

Conclusion: Ayra is perhaps one of the best infantry sword units in the game, and no doubt has a lot of utility than most other infantry sword units. She might just be one of the best, but it's important to remember that every unit has a purpose. Except Odin.

Update (5/2/2019): Since it's been awhile since this review there are an increased number of completely more beneficial skills. These skills have obvious benefits over previous skills in the builds and can be matched to the user's desire for what kind of utility they want to give the character.
A Skills: Atk/Spd Solo 3
B Skills: Chill Def 3, Chill Spd 3
C Skills: Even/Odd Spd Wave 3, Even/Odd Atk Wave 3
Sacred Seals: Flashing Blade 3

I'm guessing there's an Atk/Spd Solo skill now that needs to be put in not just Ayra's but many other unit's builds. *Sigh*

Might be easier to just put "(A that boosts Atk/Spd)" instead of "Fury — Brazen Atk/Spd — Swift Sparrow..." so you can be lazy and future proof your writing.

In the future, yes. If I did it now it'll be lots of editing because otherwise it would look weird with the way I formatted things.

Also there are B skills to consider as well, and seals. oOf

I would also separate builds by the phase they are meant to be used in and by how they utilize their Spd stat. A unit's B skill defines the unit's role just as much as their A skill.

For example, the Master Duelist builds do not share much in common with each other. Desperation is a Player Phase skill and it does not really fit in with Steady Breath and Quick Riposte in my opinion.
