2 new banners are up.
One has Ledin and Liana, the other Lana and Bozel.

All 4 are highly sought out SSRs. Lana and Bozel are pretty amazing mages though we are supposed to get another event where the reward is a free Bozel.
Ledin has not only a very good Faction buff for Legion of Glory but he is an amazing tank as well.
Liana is this game's dancer. I don't think I have to elaborate here.

You don't use Jessica for warping? She also has much better Stats then Hein (although Hein has the advantage in the spell List outside warp). Jessica also gets access to Archers + Wind Magic, making her able to take out fliers in case you don't have a good Archer.

Yeah, Imelda's first spell does extra damage to lancers, and she gets an AoE that makes units it hits unable to guard. Unless there's multiple lancers on a map that's been more than enough for me.

And I did use Jessica until Hein got his teleport. And I honestly don't find fliers enough of an issue to need a specific unit to take against them. That said Jessica would be my best choice for that.

Interestingly enough some of these show up as enemies in Time Rifts, Bond battles etc. There are others in those, too, I wonder if they are going to be added at some point since they realistically only need VA and class trees to be useable characters.

Welp,  I'm not sure what faction to go for. My account level is now 28 (hopefully will be 29 after my major play session), and the Bonding thing gave me some pause. Basically, the game wants me to start investing in certain characters and I'm naturally inclined to work on the main trio because "canon team." Almeda is the most useful of the trio, Matthew would like to be in certain classes (Ranger Matthew won't make it), while Grenier is outdone by others once Faction Buffs come into play. (Buffs don't stack, so his talent becomes useless. At least, that is my understanding of it.)

I also got some new heroes, namely Cherie from the event and I managed to get Liana in a semi-amazing pull. I also got Narm (spent the $2), Chris, and Sonya. Emerick stalked me, showing up twice in a row after I already got him. It doesn't help that Emerick seems to be underwhelming compared to other SRs...

Due to having Cherie (DPS) and Liana (Dancer + Heals), I'm now tempted to go Glory using the main trio plus those two (putting Jessica for teleports and my man Laird in as needed). I know Grenier doesn't have the best faction buff, but man am I focused on the main trio.

Right now I have two teams in mind.

Honor of the Empire: Bernhardt (Team Buff + Boss Killer), Vargas (Phoenix Tank), Laird (DPS Cannon, MVP), Sonya (DPS Boomerang), Imelda (Healer or AoE Spellcaster)
Empire Reserves: Egbert (Fixed Damage AoE) // Almeda (Off-Faction Healer), Liana (Off-Faction Dancing Healer)

Legion of Glory: Grenier (Team Buff + Tank), Matthew (DPS + Aurabot), Cherie (DPS Galeforce), Amelda (Battle Medic), Liana (Dancing Healer)
Glorious Benchwarmers: Jessica (Telecaster), Narm (Fly Swatter), Chris (Paladin) // Laird (Off-Faction DPS Cannon, MVP)

I'm leaning towards Glory since I haven't really invested into the Empire guys outside of Laird. A part of me wants to build a Princess team too (Luna, Freya, Cherie, Lana, Liana), but I don't have Luna for the buff or Lana as the magical nuke. Man, so many options, but resources are apparently scarce at the top and one should focus on a singular team...

Clarification on Grenier: His Tenacity talent does stack with faction buffs. However, he is outclassed by other Glory tanks. Aaron is basically unkillable while Ledin is the king of tanks. Even Freya, who is off-faction, makes a better tank due to her Thorns Barb gimmick.

Going for Ledin because he's Ledin, also had him on CN. Liana is in the same boat; She's Liana, she's a twin(already have Lana), and I had her on CN, so yeah. Back then I got them both trying for Bozel, isn't that cute.

After Ledin/Liana banner though... the hoard will commence........

and of course, because discussion, I got Matthew's cavalry sub-tree. it was unintentional, but it fits my style anyway, as with literally every Langrisser that has the questionnaire

Legion of Glory is easier to build on while Empire (and strategic masters) pretty much exist to maximize Leon who you don't have. Some overview for you:

Legion of Glory

• You get a great foundation almost for free; the 3 protagonists, Jessica, Cherie and potentially Narm.
  • Cherie is only second to Leon in regards to DPS and is potentially better against multiple enemies thanks to her personal skill.
  • Narm is probably the best Archer in the game. While Archers aren't that great she takes good advantage of being a ranged attacker due to her excellent skills.
• You don't need a lot from the gacha to be covered for everything.
  • Ledin or Elwin for a superior Faction buffs are a no-brainer but with Grenier around they are not an immediate priority.
  • You lucky bastard got Liana so with Almeda and Jessica you are set for life in regards to team sustain and utility.
  • Hein and Chris are specialists, one for magic and the other against Undeads (which come up a lot). Hein is probably someone you really want since he is the prime magic user for this faction and some fights absolutely require the use of magic.
    • That being said if you get Jessica to her ultimate class she can use Meteor and cover your needs for magic that way.
• The only problem (imo) that Legion has is the lack of good Cavalry units. Afaik people put Leon in their teams for that since it's Leon but Cavalry!Matthew or the free Dieharte can be a good substitute for him.

Empire of Honor

• It's unanimously agreed that Empire requires 3 specific characters to start off; Bernhardt, Leon and Vargas.
  • The reason is that Empire makes Leon even more broken since you can relocate the faction buff to someone else (Bernhardt) and cover his lesser points like durability and lack of ranged attacks.
• Empire has a lot of good magic users and it has a lot of tanks or tank-like characters. They also have access to many Cavalry units like Sonya or Laird.
  • Bernhardt is a jack-of-all-trades but he is more about providing passive bonuses for the entire team and tanking some damage. This is one of the reason why he is key for Empire.
  • Egbert is a very strong debuffer, something that is very revelant in PvP.
  • Imelda is a well-rounded magic user, providing everything from magic damage, buffs and even healing. She doesn't excel in any of these but her versatility is her biggest strength.
• This faction has a lot of problems regarding other classes. Lack of Archer doesn't matter that much but the healers in this faction are really not outstanding (compared to say Liana or Tiaris) and the Flier choices are vastly inferior to Cherie.
  • Lance is a free SR but he has no real sustain on him (besides First Aid which might as well count as none) so you mostly use him for treasure hunting or as a suicide bomber.
  • Altemuller is an SSR and even then he is kinda eh for combat.
• Empire's greatest strength comes from its characters overlapping with other factions, meaning you have versatility for your faction buff. But that requires you to pull these characters and all of them are SSRs.

Tldr; go Glory with your current roster. You have almost all the key players and basically only need Ledin/Elwin and maybe Hein. Like you pulled Liana and Chris which are probably the most important kely players beside the protagonists what more do you need?

As for the team, yeah I'm likely going Glory. Empire has Leon which is amazing, but Laird and Sonya work just as well (Laird does damage, Sonya for the hit&run. They may not have Leon's stats, but still).

Needless to say, I'm definitely loving the game thus far. Now I got a new franchise to learn and delve into. If the remakes make it stateside, I may go pick them up.

I haven't thought about factions at all, I've just been having a blast with my current units. I probably should though, since I'm not that far from getting access to the buffs. That said, with Cherie, Elwin and Ledin, glory feels like the obvious choice. I did want to build a team around Leon since I like him, but eh.

Speaking of characters, trying to keep a bunch of units on par with levels is feeling more and more daunting as I go further into the game. The amount of exp potions I get just doesn't seem to be enough to keep everyone I want to use leveled to tackle newer content.

 

Also, anyone who's tried Timeless Trials, how far have you gotten? Personally I'm stuck on the map that makes all enemies at full hp deal doubled damage and take halved damage. I like the challenge/puzzle nature of the mode but the some of the extra conditions can be really frustrating.

Edit: And almost right after talking about that I cleared that map. Funny how things work. And speaking of faction buff, the fifth map on that set has a princess faction team and it's handing my behind to me lol.

With Leon, he honestly fits into any team due to his Chivalry skill (which is down his flier path, which I believe is the meta choice. Being a flier + Angels is the way to go for endgame I think). So, your glory team will probably look like...

Yeah, I can believe Leon fits in well. I'll indeed end up most likely doing what you pointed out, with my new Liana as the healer. It's really unfortunate how many resources it takes to keep a small group of units current, since I've been enjoying more niche units like Pierre and Dios (who already bit dust as far as getting resources go, but he makes me want to level Narm). Besides there's been several maps where having multiple units of same type was absolute lifesaver. Though most commonly that meant having two lancers, which still fits into the 6-8 units.

And yeah I can believe the extra damage helps a ton, it's definitely causing me lot of grief when I'm against it.

The most limiting factor imo is equipment. I find it really hard to maintain equipment levels and because of that I concentrated on equipment sets for my Empire faction.
Like forging a single piece of SR Armor just to 30 takes a lot of gold hammers.
Getting a character to your current level on the other hand seems really trivial. They only need a couple of Gold/Silver potions to catch up. Of course whether that applies later on when we get all the way to 60 is left to be seen.

Warp skip your DPS to Jessica, punch her until she crumbles. If possible warp your healer as well to provide the necessary sustain.
That worked for me at least.

To stay on topic, how is everyone faring with Joint Battles? I can usually attend the 2nd bracket (9:00 PM US Central Time), and found out what time the first bracket is today (2:00 PM US Central Time).

At the moment I'm just running the level 23 one. I want to upgrade my characters more before I attempt the harder one.

I haven't been upgrading my equipment much so I haven't hit that roadblock yet I guess. I think I have maybe 7 pieces of equipment at level 20 or on their way there. Haven't got a lot of duplicates and for the orbs I have a strong "what if I need it more later" instinct.

The potion deficiency I'm facing is mainly because I've used them pretty freely on the whole cast. I only have 1-2 units who aren't at least level 20 and most of them are closer to 25 and up. Of course I haven't used the majority of the ones I've leveled so that was dumb.

What I did was go to right in the first room, then go the middle path with the old dude since he has less hp than his statues, and then to Jessica's room while avoiding remaining enemies' movement ranges.

What Magus of Memery said is probably easier though.

I've only been running them with a friend who also plays after a couple of unfortunate encounters with some people who just take random units and instantly hit auto. We in fact did our first clear of level 33 in the bracket couple hours ago (the only one we can do)!

I usually do the first one since it's 9PM in my time. The 2nd one i 4am in my time. I only do it when i am on bed unable to sleep xD

I did the Lvl 33 with randos today. worked well. Usually, co-op has been working pretty well, since people are usually friendly. Some times i land with some Auto people though, which can get prettty annoying.

On Another note: I really would love a full game of this. I am really super enjoying this game, but at the same time, the gacha elements are starting to frustrate me (especially the grind.) I don't even have it in me to do the full dailies everyday anymore, since i spend my free time playing ''Full''/PC games. I would be willing to shell money for a full game of this.

Also, got Sophia on another try to get Liana, and pretty soon i will be able to 5* Jessica lul

After playing enough rounds of World Arena I'm now inclined to do the matches just for weekly rewards.
The matchmaking is utterly ridicilous. Like what's the point of matching with someone 5 Levels higher or lower than you? At least a win earns you triple the amount of points you bleed per loss but it's still really tedious.
The PvE Arena on the other hand is fine imo.

Btw. if you have SSR or SR heroes check on the Bond option if you can unlock their "Gate of Fate". It allows you to farm shards for that hero. That means you can upgrade their star rating without relying on the gacha.
You only get 5 shards on the first very run of every node and afterwards it awards only 1. There is also a limit how many runs you can attempt and only every 2nd node gives you shards so it's a very long grind (though these nodes have the sweep option and only cost 5 stamina each, so daily commitment is very doable). I don't think it's available for everyone so far but I would guess that every SSR got the option.

On another note Imelda's Force Heal is kinda ridicilous, especially coupled with Mass Heal. You tried to nuke down my team with Meteor? Too bad, she just healed away all the damage.

Things have been going fairly well for me, but I'm definitely falling behind on clearing Time Rifts and the story. It doesn't help I mostly end up sweeping Time Rifts for mats and I still need to progress further to unlock more materials.

I'm still not too big on PvP, but at some point I need to raise my rank enough to get the important items from the PvP Honor Shop. Runestones and the SSR Accessory are the most important items. I haven't tried World Arena yet and have no real desire to.

Otherwise, I've been writing guides for the past two days and I got them up on the Langrisser Reddit. Give them a read if you don't know what faction to pick or need a substitute for Leon! (Yes, I go by Taurusm on Reddit. I forgotten why I chose that name, but it was the name of my main character when I played Vindictus.)

Both times my opponents and my team had similar power levels. I'm about to just say **** everything only, and I mean only, take on people weaker than me because **** PvP.

Oh wow. I read your faction guide few days ago when I was still learning that whole thing, thank you a ton. And boy do I want Altemuller now to make Leon fly. Even though I run a glory team.

For the Leon guide, a small aside I feel like could be worth mentioning is that Sonya can also be a substitute for cavalry Dieharte ("the f2p cavalry" who was only free for few days) in some fast map clears. If you don't have a Leon or a sufficiently leveled Leon, of course. For example, the level 30 stage of Sonya's event can be cleared in 1 turn with 2 teleporters, Cherie and Diehardt/Sonya (the irony).

More precisely, they both get Strike early (Sonya has this from the start, Diehardt gets it when he upgrades to second tier cavalry) and their attack stats are similar (how much this holds true at higher levels, I'm not sure). Their first attack skills have fairly similar attack modifiers with Sonya's potentially being a bit higher (and she gets it when Diehardt gets aforementioned Strike). Main differences are their other class options that Dieharte has extra crit rate and he can move away without having to defeat the enemy, both of which feel like fairly unimportant details (at first the movement thing looks like more synergy with Cherie, but Cherie can just move before Sonya).

For the record this is also the case in PvE and they probably weren't bothered enough to code in draws for PvP. I'm curious though if these cases show up as losses or wins for the other party in the regular arena.

And yes, World Arena match making is annoying. It's both sad and hilarious when half my wins are from people several levels lower than me retreating at unit selection phase, and the opposite holds true for my losses. Fortunately, at least the important rewards don't require that much time spent on it, average gain of 50 honor a day (slightly more on February) is enough to the monthly Rune Stone and SSr accessory, and that's felt fairly achivable.

So played a bit more, finished up Time Rift 3/Langrisser 2 Light Path, and now starting with Time Rift 4/Langrisser 2 Imperial Path... I really should play these games... Why did a certain known rom site shut down 

Units i am using are already starting to fall off. Hein for example is becoming increasingly useless, due to his Low Int, and neither his 3 Range Attacks (if unlock Ballistas) nor his Effective Damage abilities make him that useful. He is still pretty good for warping, tho, but i prefer Jessica since she actually packs a punch and can actually kill stuff

I really should do more dailies, especially Aniki maps, but i just find them so boooooooooooorning... But my Soldiers are already starting to fall off because i've been neglecting them...

I hope we get Zerida some time, because i really need a good Assassin, since the Light faction one is really ugh....

it seems interesting, however it doesn't really have the same vibe as the original SNES version. graphics-wise, it looks very similar to FE Heroes, perhaps a bit too much.

still, i guess it's obvious from where Advance Wars took inspiration.

I was initially intrigued with the remake, but looking at the footage makes me question if I really want to get it or not. As I only got into this franchise due to the mobile game, I'm not sure how the mainline titles work.

I'm sure the story, music, character art, and voice acting will be of good quality. I believe that is Narm in the first section, I must say she looks good. (I'm not a fan of her default art in Mobile.) The other character art I've seen thus far have also been stellar, especially when comparing them to their original incarnations.

However, the battle sequences and the main battle map just look... off. It looks clunky to move units around, and the battle animations are just meh. I also don't really like their take on the "chibi units" aspect as I find the mobile game (and FEH) pulls it off better. Because most of my time (presumably) will be spent on the main battle map, this is a heavy negative aspect for me.

As for my indifference, the act of moving generic soldiers around alongside actual hero units reminds me of Battle for Wesnoth (specifically, in certain campaigns. Not all BoW campaigns are the same). While it can be great fun, it can also become a slog as units all get clumped together and it becomes difficult to get anything done due to the massive armies fighting each other. I guess I'm worried about the pacing here, because if it is done incorrectly it will suck to play through.

As for Langrisser Mobile, I finally reached level 35. I'm really starting to feel the pressure of trying to get the upgrade materials, but I believe I have my roster set. My characters are...

Core Team: Grenier (Glory Leader, Off-Tank), Cherie (Galeforce DPS), Liana (Healer) // Bernhardt (Empire Leader, ???), Laird (Burst DPS)
Supports: Chris (Demon Slayer), Sonya (Ninja DPS), Almeda (Healer)

I got stuck with Grenier for my Glory Team. He was chosen because I felt the difficulty spike at level 35 and Glory had plenty of useful heroes (not to mention I have invested a bit into them). I definitely will be swapping him out as soon as I am able to though. Grenier just plain sucks, his Talent require him to be hit to gain a buff and his skill selection is lacking. Heck, I'll say Lance is better than Grenier because Lance at least has a niche if he is built.
Another reason for Glory is the availability of the Matthew and Almeda. While I probably will no longer invest in Matthew (I got Bernhardt now - he stole Matthew's gear), Almeda is still useful due to her healing and debuffs. I also get to keep using Chris to destroy demonic enemies which helps a lot in story missions.

 I also invested in Bernhardt as I could use the support of the Empire. It helps that Laird has been my MVP for the longest time (although he will soon be outdone by Cherie. The only reason he made it so far is probably because I put the SSR gear on him.) I am also training Sonya as I enjoy her character and she can be used as "ninja cavalry."
