I want S weapons to return. As well as legendary weapons like the Gradivus, mainly because the Gradivus is one of my favorite weapons. Though I doubt it will appear in Three Houses.

S weapons has been a staple in almost all games. Each weapon type will have at least one S weapon.

I think Awakening and Echoes are the only ones who don't have them. And that's becaus in Echoes weapons don't work in the normal way.

The first five games didn't have them (unless you count Genealogy of the Holy War's Holy weapons as S-Rank weapons).  I don't think the Archanea remakes had them, either.

Saying "almost all games" is a bit of an overstatement - Gaiden and SoV didn't have them due to weapons not working in the normal way. Awakening and the Archanea games didn't have them either (the originals did not have weapon ranks, instead having weapon level as a stat that could increase on level up; the remakes instead capped weapon rank at A). Jugdral didn't have S rank, either. This means that less than half of the FE games actually had S rank weapons.

Agreed. Come on IS, gives us some magic users that don't fall under the "squishy wizard" trope please. Dark Mages were less squishy in Awakening/Fates but even still... Also, can we have more ice spells? Maybe some ground/plant based ones? Water? There's so much you could do as magic user!

I really want water magic!!!

I liked Leo’s tome because its animation involves trees. I would love to see more spells that aren’t just fire, lightning, or wind attacks. Ice and water based magic could have totally worked in Fates, with Azura and the Ice Tribe.

I do like the idea of plant-based spells. I've never been a fan of druids in FE being dark mages, since druids and faeries in Celtic Mythology were mainly practitioners of nature-based magic: voluntary shapeshifting, forcing someone else to transform into an animal, etc. At one point in Welsh Folklore, there's a magic warrior that enchants a forest to have the trees fight as soldiers in a major battle. Seeing something like that in FE would be really cool.

Exactly! Fates dropped the ball on that!

I never got Druid = Dark Mage either. I'd love for them to return as a class that uses spells that control/summon trees, plants, and maybe animals. Gives us nature specialists, IS!!!

I assumed it was because they thought Druids were the most pagan-sounding?  I dunno.

If they do decide to include more "flora and fauna" Tomes, I could probably see the fauna ones being effective against certain class types.  Not sure what special niche the flora ones would have, though.

They still had "S Rank weapons" in the sense of weapons with special lore, that were very strong, and usable by everyone with the proper class though. Which I'd say matters more than a rank. Gradivus, Parthia, Mercurius, Again. And the Archanea remakes and Awakening just moved the S ranks to A. No such thing for Thracia though, it's all personals there.

I must admit I have made a stupid assumption.

Yeah, I never encountered a FE story which does not have an Infinity +1 sword.

That's a fair bet, there. I'd like these games to have a wider variety of magic. As for the earlier thing with Slim vs. Bronze, I'd like Bronze weapons to return. S-rank Weapons can also come back as long as the penalties from Fates are gone. I rarely used anything above Steel in Fates.

i'd like to see radiant dawn's medical herbs coming back (if the game is long enough to allow it)

also, i LOVE accessories and growth-influencing items, such as PoR's rings and bands and thracia's scrolls

i might die happy if they ever come back

SRPG Studio does have those as its default healing item.  I haven't played Radiant Dawn, so I assumed Herbs were something unique to that software.  SRPG Studio also takes its Bonus EXP system from Radiant Dawn.

Herbs are the lowest rung of the consumable healing items ladder in RD. Herbs are 10 uses, 10 HP per use. Vulneraries are 8 uses, 20 HP per use. Concoctions are 6 uses, 40 HP per use. And Elixirs are 3 uses, all HP per use.

So in other words, RD is very kind with the healing items. Certainly in part because for the short Part 2, you don't have a playable healer outside of the first and last fights there. Although I do think they were still a bit too generous on the use count.

I could definitely see S-Rank Weapons returning; it's probably pretty much guaranteed. As far as the Gradivus; unlikely, since the Gradivus basically was the s-rank spear of Shadow Dragon. However, I could easily see someone use a unique 1-2 range spear that's immensely powerful and is similar to Gradivus, but has a different name and appearance.

Shields and rings from Gaiden/Echoes. Preferably being able to equip one with a weapon (although having two handed weaponry that prevented this would be cool to see).

Reaver and Superior weapons, as it made weapon locked classes more versatile.

Blades would be neat to see as long as they have an equivalent for other classes. Maybe jousting lances/halberds for lances and great/two-handed axes for, well, axes?

An unbreakable but not overpowered weapon for the lord. I loved that Chrom basically had an unbreakable iron sword that was effective against dragons. It meant that I could have him tank a lot on the enemy phrase while not having to worry about anything breaking, yet it was still a good idea to give him a more powerful weapon in case he needed one.

Take a page out of Echoes/Gaidens book and have back-up weapons that have no might. Especially if durability returns. That way, having a weapon break in battle isn't the end of the world, but it is still preferable to equip your units with something. It would also allow for more powerful characters to attack/defend without wasting weapon usage as they could damage or defeat the enemy with their strength alone.

Items/Weapons that heal the user. I love them in Echoes.

I'm mixed on bronze weapons returning. Iron weapons fulfill their niche already, and do the better, and bronze weapons do no favors for reclassed units. On the other hand, I like giving my overpowered units a weak yet extremely durable weapon so that they won't have to replace their gear every other level, and being easily and cheaply forged helps alleviate the initial downside of starting at E rank for promoted/reclassed characters.

This could be interesting. I like this idea; blades/greatswords for swords, jousting lances for lances, and poleaxes for axes (real life poleaxes were a heavy anti-infantry weaponry).

Stronger but less accurate weapons for Lances and Axes do exist in Radiant Dawn. They're called Greatlances and Poleaxes (there is no anti-Cav Halberd or Poleax in RD) there, with Iron/Steel/Silver variants of course. Buyable in unlimited quantities from Part 2 onwards, with a few characters starting with them.
