Eltosian Kadath
PART 3 You demand I make my mind up, I decided not to care chapter 6 Ryuuji opens by making what really should be the best of the three choices, to fight with neither of the families and find his own way to fix the conflicts of Fateslandia So of course the two families he loves immediately start trying to tear each other to shreds. So Azura suggests instead of not fighting either side, they fight ALL the sides. After reading through @Rezzy's Lunatic Conquest Ironman LP it is really hard not to see this as damning evidence that Azura is the real evil mastermind of Revelations as well. Now that the sinister manipulations of Azura have been unveiled it cannot be unseen. At least we have Felicia, the voice of reason in the madhouse to follow. Now for the chapter itself we have 5 turns to kill 2 generic bosses while the royals of Hoshido and Nohr exchange strongly worded letters from the other side of the battle field from each other. One real failing of the storytelling here is that the royals don't seem to do anything on this maps. They don't have a dramatic Genealogy style NPC clash with carefully scripted timing to emphasis the urgency of your mission or act as a real combat threat on this map, its just you against generics with the royals too far away to realistically engage within the time limit . The fact that you have to cross this river, and that only Ryuuji can cross river tiles at all seemed overly silly as well, but first turn Felicia pairs with Ryuuji and get danced to start a crossing and second turn I activate the dragon vein to lower the river, and dance him to try and bait the Nohrian generic boss into death, but I shouldn't have separated for the attack stance here as Ryuuji is a couple speed points short of doubling the fighter without pairup so that generic blocks the boss generic from attacking. Oh well I kill it and get a little closer to ensure nothing like that happens again, although the far more active Hoshidan side is starting to push in as well leading to From here it is easy to finish off both bosses this turn Leading to this level up when Felicia kills the Cavalier and This level up on Ryuuji after Azura dances him to let him kill the Hoshidan boss. To the surprise of only Ryuuji, after killing Nohrian and Hoshidan soldiers, both sides consider him the enemy. And Azura emphasis the predicament she has forced him into, to make him more emotionally vulnerable and pliable to her utterly mad schemes to follow. Alas Ryuuji, that sweet summer child, believes Azura completely. She came to him when he felt most alone, isolated from his family, and at his lowest point, and she will use that trust to manipulate Ryuuji. PART 4: If Azura jumped off a cliff would you do that too? Chapter 7 With Ryuuji having broken all ties to his family, he is desperate to find some refuge Azura conveniently knows just the place. ... Thank you Felicia for being the single voice of reason here. But alas Ryuuji so thoroughly trusts Azura already that he is going to literally jump off a cliff. This works out, and now that everyone is safe we really need to figure out what to do. Azura has sure given us a convenient scapegoat for all our problems. If we take out this King Anankos everything will be fixed then. Boy that is a convenient curse, it really will keep Ryuuji from spilling the beans to some less naive allies he might be able to recruit. Boy it sure is convenient that this king Anankos, who is responsible for all of Ryuuji's family troubles, also killed her father and holds the throne that should be hers by birthright. No ulterior motive for wanting to see Anankos dead here... But beyond the story, Azura and Felicia mange to hit that critical C rank support with Ryuuji, and as per rule 2 I get to grab 1 item from the reward box, and Felicia's plate seems the obvious choice. It makes Felicia an actual combat unit before I unlock access to the Flame Shuriken, although it does make this chapter feel very easy. I always found this extra deployment slot kinda weird; I guess grinding up to S rank to get Kana, Shigure (or Dwyer if you are Corrin F) isn't impossible, but who would do that this early. So this chapter involves entering darkened hallways until you reach a convenient light switch that permanently makes the next room visible, and revealing the group of soldiers who have been waiting patiently in the dark to ambush you. Some paths have a bit of underbrush covering them and teleport you back to a nearby visible room. This is the first one, Felicia hit a stopping point where she had to stop and fiddle with the lightswitch in the dark, which lets Ryuuji attack with her attack stance on the outlaw, with Azura able to dance Felicia if she needs to pickup the kill (which lets Ryuuji easily tank the rest). Felicia manages to level clearing this out. I then start taking the northern path, this image is after killing the first Ninja in that room, and using Azura's dance to get the pairup. Ryuuji takes enough damage that they have to retreat and separate to let Felicia heal him after a dance, before finishing off the remainder on the player phase after. Ryuuji manages a good level up from this room. I end up heading south/west instead of further along that path. Both Felicia and Ryuuji may be debuffed from the fight with the last ninja but they can handle it. With a Felicia that can already do damage, this map isn't really that challenging .That is my own fault for grabbing an item from the reward box I suppose, but with Jakob it might be just as easy (I did have Jakob and Corrin F when I went through this game on Hard, but that was long enough in the past that I don't remember how it went). I miss the image on a Felicia level up around here, but you will see another soon enough. Despite having no locktouch units, this map has chests, so every room with chests have units with chest keys on them to get the loot. This is a large room that I decide to take on with guard stance, and after the archer dies I use the fort for healing, and that makes it take slower but is a little safer (which felt necessary due to having 2 archer, and how much damage those archers deal to Felicia). All three members level up in this room so Only Azura sees a good level (and her stats barely matter to begin with). The next room has some cavaliers and a knight that is especially easy with both Ryuuji and Felicia capable of dealing magic damage. After that I recruit and promptly ignore Gunter, and while I could take on the boss right now, I want to grab all the chests so I head south into the exit of the path I first started taking but diverted from after the first room. This room isn't too bad and Azura picks up a level, but the penultimate room is large and with many ranged enemies. I am glad I saved this one for last, despite that odd choke point in the center created by the chest there are enough ranged enemies that it takes a bit of careful placement to keep Felicia, and eventually Azura alive. Once this last room is dealt with I have just the boss room to deal with, but I decide to sneak in a kill on the archer from the top of this room before taking it on proper. Azura levels while speeding up the approach to the boss room. the rest of mooks go down easily enough, and without a ranged option the boss is trivialized by Felicia's magic damage. Felicia levels on the chip, and Ryuuji levels by getting the kill, giving one last levelup on the party before the end of it. Oh well, Ryuuji's level up is al right, and its always hard to complain about speed even if it is the only thing the others got. With Gunter's arrival in Valla Azura has got to explain things to him, but at least he is just another another retainer of Ryuuji, and not anyone important. And poor Ryuuji tries to explain his side of things, while conveniently ignoring that he attacked Hoshidan and Nohrian troops. So its only units bought from the logbook, Anna, and possibly the Amiibo characters that could fill that spot. Strange. PART 5 The darkness within Hoshido Chapter 8 After escaping Valla, Ryuuji plans to unite the Hoshidans and Nohrians against this evil King Anankos. Believing in the tiny handful of propaganda filled week (if not days) he spent in Hoshido, that is where he goes first. I mean they are supposed to be the "good guys" right. Oh Ryuuji you naive, sweet summer child. Alas Yukimura is the cold hard slap in the face of reality. The war that has split Fateslandia is more than simply Hoshido good, Garon bad, as here we see the vicious cycle of vengeance is clearly a driving Hoshidan actions. Ryuuji's brilliant plan to convince them that he isn't their enemy, and atone for the crime of turning against his Hoshidan friends and family seems to be taking over their fort. So for a bit of the preps, my one item from the rewards box is the Nohrian Blade. Next Gunter gets benched so it is just Ryuuji, Felicia, and Azura. First turn I use Felicia, and Ryuuji to kill the oni, then dance Ryuuji to this choke point to dragon tank. The samurai and ninja get drawn in and they die just in time to use that same choke point against the enemies who start outside the fort, and charge from the south. It takes about two turns to finish these off, at which point I go back for the treasure in the center. This is another chest key chapter, so I just need to wipe out the enemies near it. Ryuuji and Felicia take care of things all right, and I use the dragon vein to heal Felicia. Azura also picks up a level while reaching the chest. Note the ninja that spawns to try and steal the loot. I kill him as he approaches the first chest. Once I have secured the loot, I head back to the path deeper into the fort. These enemies are easily taken out after being drawn in, and the entire party ends up leveling while clearing out these 3. I also activate the dragon vein here to heal Felicia. I missed the image of Felicia's level up so I have a status screen for her instead. I slip past the named characters to grab the loot in the east before dealing with Orochi, Saizo, and Yukimura. Felicia easily enemy phases Orochi, and next turn draws in and chips Saizo. I then bait Yukimura into using his bow on Ryuuji, which then lets him freely chip the next turn, and with a dance Felicia finishes him This gets Felicia a nice level up It turns out attacking Yukimura and capturing his fort did not convince him that Ryuuji is not an enemy, and that they should trust him. And he remains the only one to point out the harsh truth about what Ryuuji's actions seem to be from the outside. Yet this level of distrust feels much more in line with how the Nohrians are portrayed. And Orochi's tragic, and irrational stance here is reminiscent of the way the Nohrian children blinded themselves to the truth about Garon. Mikoto returning from the dead is just as impossible as the return of the good king Garon, and yet both Orochi and Xander risk the fate of their nation on an impossible dream. And Saizo's attempted suicide bombing shows us the Hoshidans are perfectly willing to stoop to Garon's level. To be fair there was a moment earlier in the plot that primed me for this idea of Revelations trying to reverse the role between the kingdoms. When Azura is talking about how her mother died to protect the Nohrian royals. Azura from the begin was setup as our opposite, and to have her mother make a sacrifice for Nohr just as Mikoto made a sacrifice for Hoshido planted the seeds of this idea. Sakura stops Saizo from turning that area into a crater to rival the Ganglari. and it is convincing due to actions Ryuuji has taken instead of his plot given charisma. but alas this foray into what one could over-interpret into good writing ends with this eye-rollingly unbelievable line. It seems this contrivance from Conquest's story is doomed to haunt Revelations as well. At least we finally get to add the first member of the PMU to the team permanently. I guess she can see it in our eyes.

(I mean, I know it isn't but personally the good tends to get overshadowed by the bad and the ugly.) Actually trying to show a bit less of a Black and White situation, even if Yukimura and Orochi are feeling justified in that action due to past events. Also, I looked to the first page. Eltosian Kadath
PART 6 Autoerotic Assetflipsiation Grind+Chapter 9 To start off with I relationship grind Sakura with the "challenge" maps the game has given me. She started C rank support with Ryuuji thanks to the chapter 5, and I recruited her on her Birthday (and had the DV points for an accessory shop) so I got a bit of boost through that, and got lucky on the room visits, and managed to S rank before the next map. Managed to catch the tail end of the birthday fireworks in this image. I also took @starburst's comments about his preference for Caeldori to be a long-term party member (and keeping in mind the other ways of getting Kinshi Oboro, plus I am impatient for new combat units) as an excuse to start relationship grinding Subaki and Azura and get them to B. That being said there is still time to change parents. Those whose levels changed due to this grind session are shown below. Now with Sakura at S rank there are all those awkward plot contrivances to go through. Wow Sakura this letter that removes Ryuuji from Hoshidan succession and lets us marry without worrying about incest sure is convenient. This has some especially weird implications due to Sakura being Ryuuji's younger sister. I guess Ryuuji was thought of as a bastard during his stay in Hoshido, and Mikoto the king's former lover/concubine, that the court must assume was sexually active with Sumeragi over a year, if not 2 or 3 before his first wife's death to have 2 younger siblings. Much as I like the children mechanic, Fate's hyperbolic time chambers of baby growth are incredibly dumb. But babies weren't the reason we went for this pairing, this was: And now we get to chapter 9 Elise's lampshading of the villainous monologue to the camera cliche doesn't make it any less silly. At least the Nohrian children are noticing Garon's change, although what are they waiting for before acting? Elise's eavesdropping and suspicion has some precedence in the other paths, but Camilla noticing is a bit different. I guess with Corrin hidden from view (and by extension her creepy obsession) lets us get a different view of her, as a more thoughtful person who cautions Elise about the consequences of taking action too hastily And now we get to a poor retelling of Birthright chapter 8 Sigh... if there is supposed to be fog here, why don't they show any, in either the background images, or some fog effect in the conversation overlaid. Video games are an audiovisual medium, and when the writing conflicts with what is being shown (without some reason) it is a failure of storytelling While Iago is shown he simply laughs about his successful trap instead of monologueing this time, but this is clearing going through the same motions as Birthrights chapter 8 They really want me to believe that Ryuuji's group held back against what they thought were faceless, and didn't kill them. This is frustratingly dumb. At least the Birthright version wasn't insistent on this utter nonsense. The first image is from a bit earlier, but I wanted to talk about one in the context of the other. My first instinct was to dismiss the first as more evidence of Ryuuji's naivete, but the second makes it clear that this is something a little more intentional. Fuga really has an accurate understanding of Ryuuji's actions even if he doesn't see it that way. Ryuuji tries to explain about this king Anankos, but Azura stops him ensuring that Fuga doesn't believe him, making a conflict that might leave the wind tribe in chaos almost inevitable. But once again Ryuuji's previous actions have come to save him again, but like always Fuga insists on a "practice" battle to show their worth. Note that showing the Birthright map in the background of the meeting with Fuga made this story beat feel even more like a poor cut and paste of Birthright chapter 8's story. Having to then face the Conquest chapter 20 map made this feel even more unoriginal. First turn I bait in the ninja to the west with Felicia and a Corrin attack stance Finish him second turn and heal with Sakura, then dance to get Felicia into attack stance with the Ryuuji you can see. which gets Felicia this level up. The next turn they finish off the ninja and oni that were drawn in, and after some Sakura healing Felicia, and Ryuuji choke the corridor in front of the next platform, and the winds push both past the enemies drawn in. With a dance they finish those two, and after the winds push them back (and with some Sakura healing) they wipe out that spear man following behind, and then prepare for the winds To get pushed up to the next corridor, then kill the unit that had move adjacent to where the winds push Ryuuji (and heal him with Sakura) which earns him This levelup, and leave them in position to be pushed even further up. From there we wipe out the next platform, grab the physic from the chest (thanks to a chest key) and get in position to be pushed to Now there are enough enemies here that even with a dance that spear man is alive, but Azura can take the hit (and Sakura's aura helps). I take a few turns hold this platform, as reinforcement spawn from the stairs, and some enemies approach it (including Hayato, that Felicia enemy phased). I could end it here but I want to grab the gold in the corner at least (and after looking up the loot I regret not saving the first chest key for the dual sword, but not enough to reset over). I take my time getting there, and give Azura a bit of an opportunity to support Subaki. Which earns her this mediocre level. I also miss a Sakura level up image. This is the farthest I go that direction, and after enemy phasing the offscreen enemy I head back to deal with Fuga. It takes Ryuuji a dance as well as Felicia attack stance and Sakura healing (which earns her a level) to take him out in one turn, which earns Ryuuji a level After Fuga's defeat Ryuuji apologizes, and Fuga talks about Sumeragi and the legends of the Yato

PART 7 A Girl can end harm grind+Paralogue 13 ... Yeah I'm not the best with anagrams After another grinding session I am ready for another combat unit, and paralogue 13 will get me Caeldori. I do have to add a castle battle or two to reach it before next chapter, and the notable level changes are Now on to the paralogue. This one cost me two resets, one where I got a little unlucky as Caeldori unexpectedly enemy phases a promoted enemy thanks to a lucky hit from her attack stance partner, that then let a second promoted enemy finish her, and a second by not eliminating the physical enemies before the sorcerer's approach (and assuming dragon tanking would be enough to save the day). After all this Ryuuji "not" incest its hard to think of lines like this as entirely innocent. I stretch rule 6 a little to include Hayato (he will have to marry Effie eventually and she starts at a lower level than he does...), but even with everyone I would still have 3 extra slots. Ignoring the top island's deployment slots makes tactical sense, and the first thing to do is kill all the units that start on the home islands. Yeah I was getting impatient to add you to the army as well. That takes care of that dangerous promoted enemy first. Sakura then heals Caeldori, and Azura goes to the hero's former space to dance her, letting her kill the mercenary right next to her. Felicia kills the mage and Ryuuji kills the mercenary with a little help from Hayato to clear the islands. Subaki goes to a water tile far away from enemies for the rest of the map. Next turn I move Ryuuji (really his convoy) next to the edge of the range of enemies approaching from the west so that. and equips my first forge, a +1 Bronze sword called Cordelia. She picks up the first of these enemy phase, and the other player phase after a dance and her adding attack stances to empty this island of enemies, leaving the map as Next turn Caeldori kills the injured merc, and Ryuuji kills the mage, and after a dance Caeldori prepares to confront enemies from the east. Caeldori and Ryuuji switch sides to let her get the kill on the Hero (and being danced, being healed, killing a mage, and moving Hayato to add attack stances) while Ryuuji prepares the hold off the horde coming from the east (after killing the merc and being healed by Felicia). Hayato picks up from attack stance, Caeldori gets one finishing off the Paladin on player phase, and Sakura gets this healing her again. I end up dancing Caeldori to get her in position to claim the xp from an eastern Hero but Ryuuji is needed to enemy phase the mooks on the bridge Once all the mercs have received a Ryuuji facelift, its time to switch to Felicia serve up the sorcerers on Felicia's plate. Caeldori was going to confront the enemies slowly approaching from the north west (you can see a tile of there range below the terrain indicator) but ends up picking up the kill on the second Sorcerer, injured by Felicia on enemy phase after she leveled by killing the other and its unpromoted friend. Dealing with those last enemies that approach is no problem, but there are still a hero, a paladin, and 2 sorcerers that wait for my approach. The first Caeldori can deal with, but the other three all share a range, thankfully Felicia just gained tome breaker, and can take a paladin hit with a Ryuuji pairup The higher level boss sorcerer decides to strike first, so Caeldori kills it for the level (I miss the levelup itself so here is the status screen), and Azura gets one from her dance, as Felicia presses in on the last 2 enemies Felicia levels killing the sorcerer enemy phase, while Sakura earns one healing Caeldori, and finally Ryuuji levels finishing the last Paladin with a dance. That was a bit tricky, but Felicia getting tome breaker right before the end made it manageable.
Eltosian Kadath
Part 8 The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway Chapter 10 Now back to the plot, Ryuuji and co. head to Izumo to find out more about the Fire Emblem (plus Azura likes them heading to neural territories at first). I'm going to agree with Ryuuji here, that looks like such a serene land. ...Yeah that's not exactly subtle, but clearly goes over the head of Ryuuji. But with Sakura's assurance people are willing to overlook his eccentricities (the homicidal/kidnapping vibes seem to slip by her too). His insistence on not knowing about the Fire Emblem (or "seal of flames"), even after Fuga's insistence that Izana was the expert is what gives him away to the less naive members of the party To give Revelations credit this is a nice bit of foreshadowing here (even if they gave it away by greying Gunter out in the support list). Gunter immediately recognizing that as a magic disguise shows a knowledge of magic that the previous Gunter (that we saw in other routes) didn't have, and hints at a change in him. They try to throw you off the trail by saying its due to his familiarity with Zola, but if that were all it took he would have figured it out in other routes, plus he doesn't recognize that it is Zola here just that it is a magic disguise. The ice bomb always seemed incredibly random Note the snow on the ground prior to the ice bomb going off. If I were being generous I would say this hints at them using this ice bomb before, perhaps to capture other prisoners (as opposed to laziness). First for some noted preps. I grab a dual katana from the rewards box to replace the one I missed last chapter; I add a couple D rank swords to Caeldori's inventory (as she is close to hitting that weapon rank), of particular note is a kodachi and armor slayer; and finally I drag the Hayato brand snow blower I got from the wind tribe. This map has weird incentives to go at a slow and steady pace. You don't want to break the snow without someone to clear-out the enemies you uncover. So here Felicia and Hayato uncover this first cavalier, but after killing him, I only have one attacker and a dance, and this map overly incentivizes going slow. Setting up little blocks like this can help out too. I start by heading around the wall to the west and with loot like this you are incentivized to go out of your way to kill everything in the snow. Sakura pickup this level along the way. I get a little impatient here, but the AI doesn't seem to move if you aren't in attack range, so the Fighter patiently waits till Caeldori kills him with a kodchi (she picked up D rank by this point) and on the following turn she uses the armor slayer on the other that refused to move yet. Caeldori solos the other side of that wall (with the occasional 2 range heal through the wall) up until they meet back up. Now I could go after the boss, but the loot here is too good (ok its a little inconsistent as iron weapons are interspersed with stat boosters...). It is kinda interesting to design choke points through terrain destruction but if you aren't careful... I miss the Azura level while moving around. After killing the last loot mook in the snow, I start by taking out some of the boss's defenders from range There was another defender hiding in the snow, so I let Ryuuji choke the last foe just in case. Sakura levels just before Zola dies. You know I wouldn't expect Zola to follow the first rule of competent recurring villains, always have an escape plan (and accurately pointing out the heroes biggest weakness is a plus). Well the arbitrary taking of one of the heroes hostage on the spot was always the cop-out version of an escape plan. I think it would have worked better in general if he used one of the hostages held in the room right behind him, instead of taking a hostage of opportunity. Exactly what I was thinking. 8 hours ago, Armchair General said: It's nice to see that Leo has some standards when it comes to honor, considering that he kills Iago in Conquest With regards to personality and role in the story, Leo is the best of the Nohrian siblings, and his mixing of honor and pragmatism is a big part of that. Part 9 Repetition. Repetition is the name of the game. Chapter 11 I start by relationship grinding Oboro and Takumi and get them to B rank, although Oboro is the only one with notable level gains I also prepare a forged bronze Yumi for her, but I think I will unveil its name once she starts using it. We open on Revelations learning from previous mistakes and actually showing the smoke they are actively talking about. Saizo has sent out one final warning in the smoke: And of course our hero heeds this warning not But to be fair Ryuuji is starting to buildup a reasoning that holds some water and saving Saizo and his allies from those overwhelming odds will leave them indebted to Ryuuji and gain for him those needed allies. As they head into the forest of Mokushu they are attacked and - Hey Takumi that's my job. Get your own sister/wife to fear cuddle. (Ok I can't even keep a straight face writing that its so absurd) We open on another Birtright map with different unit placement and starting position. Also they've managed to grab another of my least favorite gimmicks from the other Fate's game maps, the spikes here do so little and are just annoying when they pop up (especially when a unit doesn't move and they pop up cause they took an action). Also note that this occurs on first enemy phase if you do not kill the ninja that was where the cursor is That not quite as bad as Shiro's paralogue lategame, but still a sign of some poorly thought out design. After making sure the enemies in this opening area can be dealt with by next turn without lemming death, I send Ryuuji in to recruit the lot of them, and next turn start baiting in the west with Oboro's Javalin That works for a bit, but once the Master Ninja starts moving I need to pull back a bit into a more open area where I can better arrange the death of the whole group with the limited troops I have, and uncertainty of Ninja dodges Takumi, Oboro, and Azura pickup a level in the rush to finish off the west but one last mage remains. Oboro and Takumi can still take that hit so thing turn out ok. That being said Caeldori being able to double the Master Ninjas on player phase makes her MVP for the map. Now for Oboro to start with the other side Caeldori's ability to cripple (or kill with a good attack stance) the Master Ninja earns her this level Sakura levels while healing Oboro We are coming up on the end here, after those two die dealing with the last samurai and regular ninja isn't difficult, but there are still two mobile Master Ninja that are. The Oboro Takumi power couple can take one of their hits (and draws in the other that pretends an attack stance helps). Caeldori can kill with the attack stance, but I can't finish the other, so I move Oboro out of the way, heal Caeldori with Felicia, and block space with Ryuuji's dragon tanking. Caeldori is hurt, but with some Oboro ranged chip Ryuuji can claim the kill with the injured Caeldori's attack stance. I have left the healer alive intentionally but I have to kill one to clear the path to Kotaro. Kotaro takes a lot of troops to deal with, Felicia chips and debuffs first, then Oboro chips it more to gain a level, and Ryuuji finishes him to level as well. Oboro is blocking up the last enemies that can attack so the map is basically done I let Saizo grab the loot for me before killing the last healer to end it. With Kotaro dead we get to meet Kagero who has an accurate account of Ryuuji's first battle but our sister/wife helps to convinces her to join our side. It seems we have our next object, meet with Ryoma while he conducts an invasion of Nohr proper after inciting a rebellion. Eltosian Kadath
Part 10 You're as Cold as Ice, You're willing to sacrifice our love Chapter 12 First thing first Oboro gets to S rank through some relationship grind, and becomes with her trusty Bronze Yumi forge (that I had hidden in the convoy last chapter), the Obowro, and a raider Yumi as my item from the box for variety. I also forge a bronze shuriken in anticipation for Sakura's promotion, the Pseudo-Incest. The plot opens on a boat as we try to find some relaxation before reaching Nohr's sphere of influence As Sakura lampshades over the dissonance between playing a peace-loving "Corrin" in the war focused game play of a Fire Emblem, suddenly Our progress is stopped by a frozen sea, and we face our next challenge, Camilla and the Ice tribe. Ryuuji tries to appeal to Camilla's dangerously creepy over obsession with him, but because I guess that whole Camilla and Elise scene earlier where they recognize papa Garon has changed and are waiting for their moment was forgotten by whomever wrote this chapter. Seems Ryuuji and Camilla's isn't the only sibling bond being tested by this battle As papa Garon has threatened If the Camilla Ryuuji "sibling" relationship wasn't so creepily twisted they might have had a touchingly tragic moment like this. With the number of units being deployed I pairup Ryuuji and Azura to keep the whole group deployed on the front 2 boats We are going to have to survive this initial onslaught until the dragon veins appear, so I make sure each boat has a healer and a front liner. In the northern boat I lure in one of the mages with Felicia and the fighter between the boats with Caeldori. In the southern boat I lure a mage into a range battle with Oboro and separate Azura out for next turn where I finish the mage, dance Oboro to let Ryuuji take her place to tank the Fighter (and heal her for safe measure), while in the north I finish the Fighter with Hayato, move Caeldori so that Felicia can heal both of them (the mage had a lucky hit despite tome breaker) while baiting in the archer in the center (that then dies enemy phase to Felicia with Caeldori attack stance) Next turn the northern boat focuses on taking down the fighters pressing in from the north, and Hayato manages to level while the southern boat has to kill the Berserker in the center, using Oboro with Ryuuji attack stance with a dance and repeat to kill it for the level. Azura is in range of an injured Fighter but it flees to fighter but it flees (presumably to reach Flora for healing... I think she has a heal staff just to make the AI less relentless in this section). Now that the teeth have been taken out of the center the two boats focus on their own sides. The north wins out fairly quickly, but the south is still drawing in enemies when the Dragon veins arrive. I am going to give Revelations some props for this bit, having to survive until the dragon veins appear with your forces scattered among numerous boats is actually kinda tense. My initial thought is to reinforce them, but they are done before the northern boaters arrive, so the southern group continues on to take the lowest boat and its free master seal. While the three from the northern boat start clearing the path to the eastern boats Beruka gets removed first, but the Berserker gets a free shot with his hand axe. Next turn Ryuuji strikes, gives Oboro the attack stance, while the northern goup enters an intercept course for the injured fighter and a danced Oboro gets the kill to give both of them a level I decide to remove Selena from the boat before continuing, but reinforcements on the boat slow that down a little. and I end up missing a levelup on Ryuuji The northern group has secure the north eastern (potentially) starting boat, and while the southern group heads to a convergence I decide to get ride of Camilla on the way but a miss from Oboro lets Ryuuji confront his not-sister and she acts about as yandere as you would expect. There are a lot of dangerous promoted units on the bosses boat, so I start by letting tome breaker neuter the Sorcerers There are some reinforcements streaming from the boss boats that slow thing a little, but Felicia and Caeldori level on the approach Sakura finally caps from healing and promotes. To lure in the second Sorcerer I give Felicia a Hayato pairup to keep the Berserker from adding an attack stance (which lure him in to try it anyway), so he can be dealt with from range. Hayato got enough xp from blocking to level, while Oboro's Berserker kill levels her This time tome breaker draws in two sorcerers at once earning her a level that I miss I end up using Ryuuji to draw in the last Berserker. Reinforcements are approaching from the south, but they are so nonthreatening that I let Hayato take out some. Sakura has some of my best mixed bulk after promoting so she draws in the last 2 mobile enemies on this boat (with the supportive boost), and finishing them gives Ryuuji a level After dealing with them and some of the reinforcements with a dance (that levels Azura) I have just enough action to finish this with Oboro and Caeldori which earns Caeldori With Camilla defeated, believing her life forfeit she is intent on going out like she came in, in the most creepily over obsessed Ryuuji fashion as possible ... Its like she doesn't even know Ryuuji. Anyone who actually payed attention to him as a person instead of as a possession to obsess over would know he would spare her. This has been clear since chapter 2, and probably during the years they knew each-other before the game started. Ryuuji starts trying to explain about their unknown enemy I must admit Hbomberguy's recent youtube video on the old Transformer's movie helped me articulate this sense that has been growing for a few chapters now, that Ryuuji is growing into an actual leader. Despite repeated failures of his simple naive approach to diplomacy (see Orochi, Yukimura, Leo , and arguably Fuga and Takumi) he keeps trying, even when others and his own failure tell him how pointless this task is. He asserts through his words and actions that there must be a better future where Nohr and Hosido do not have to fight, and in doing so he makes that seemingly impossible future possible. Ryuuji becomes a leader who fills his follower with a hope for the future. Ryuuji even tries to convince Flora but Which reminds me isn't papa Garon threatening their complete destruction if you don't fight our forces to the death... Than why were you willing to murder your own sister at the start of this mess if you already arranged for their safety? I guess those sibling bonds weren't as strong as they seemed. This isn't the first time one of the elemental tribes has had an extreme view of the Yato, and it makes me think of two different head cannons that are implied. The first is that the Rainbow Sage may have insidiously instilled legends about the Yato to prime the peoples of Fateslandia with a specific mindset towards its wielder (Similar to the way the Vorlon's of Babylon 5 did so with the image of their bodies within the encounter suits). The second is that part of the magical effects of the Yato is a significant boost to the wielders D&D charisma stat, making his diplomatic effort magically more effective than they should be (and the glow is an indicator of when it is being actively used for that effect). I like how Ryuuji doesn't drop the seemingly small prophecy that cost Izana his life and keeps looking for that answer that will give his death meaning. Other than that Ice Dragon that blessed your tribes lands, that your father Kilma explicitly talks about if anyone uses a Dragon Vein on the lake in Conquest chapter 8. The Revelation's team gave all these warning about how you should play all the other versions first, and it seems like they didn't take that advice to heart while writing it. Ryuuji gets a chance to catch up with the life of one of his Nohrian not-sisters and Sakura you are getting called out, but to be fair I can see why the arrival of a more well endowed not-sister that flirts with your not-brother husband would make you nervous. Eavesdropping to ensure Ryuuji doesn't spill the beans seems entirely in character for Azura. Nice to have a motive for wanting both Hoshido and Nohr to suffer explicitly revealed for Azura. Alright so this reveals that Nohr's marriage customs are an institutionalized polygamy with a hierarchy of wives, as the 2nd wife Arete and Queen Katerina are both jockeying for favor (and presumably the 1st wife position), with Camilla's mother (probably a lower ranking wife) being in support of Queen Katerina. I find this interaction interesting, its some clear evidence that Ryuuji's views that peace is possible between Nohr and Hoshido are being adopted by his allies (especially from the prickly pineapple). Its clear that Takumi and Camilla do not trust eachother, and yet in the heat of battle they are going to have to put eachother's lives in the others hands to find victory. Interacting with the people your preferred propaganda demonize is a great way to see that they are people just like you, and can be reasoned with, and you can live with. Here is to hoping they find that common ground by the end.
Eltosian Kadath
Part 11 Ludonarrative Dissonance chapter 13 This level of damage seems fairly extreme without any evident siege weaponry, but I suppose the destruct capacity of magic on building might explain (so the Hoshidans are most likely to blame). Ryuuji is seeking answers for this destruction as much as I am so they interrogate some local Furries who have been injured in the fighting (Sakura don't judge the furries, they get enough of that on the internet) I bet this Sakura healing scene is incredibly weird if she has class changed into one unable to heal. The furries reveal that which indicates the forces of Valla have crippled this neutral nation and drawn both Nohr and Hoshido to wage a war of blame over the corpse of the city. As the warring parties approach our furry friends ask about our loyalties and being outsiders in the conflict (like those that destroyed the city) is enough to convince them to join. I guess that would make him - a lone wolf *cricket chirps* Azura tries to dissuade Ryuuji from attempting diplomacy, but alas Ryuuji is not to be swayed, and continues to try to persuade the belligerents towards his cause. ...Ryoma you had a duel with an invisible swordsmen in chapter 5. There was an entire cut-scene showing it off! I can see you believing its still the work of Nohrians, but the fact that invisible enemies exist shouldn't be your hangup. Yes I suppose both our forces and the Valla forces will twist this situation to our advantages. Now on to the map. With both Selena and Beruka on the PMU list, and not having any relationships to grind (or previous maps to use them in) they are fairly under-leveled. Unfortunately this is likely to get worse as next chapter has even lower leveled units added to the team. I burn about three early resets figuring out how much I can get away with using them in the presence of the maps promoted enemies, another when I formulate a plan to deal with unexpected Master Ninja reinforcements and mistakenly drop an obstacle tile too early in my turn, and a final one when I fail to anticipate an enemy moving in to give Ryoma an attack stance (and +2 damage through Bushido). I let Camilla skate in through rule 6 and mostly acts as Rose's thorn, lunge, and flying obstacle dropping support. Beruka gets an iron and hand axe, while Selena gets an armor slayer, kodachi, iron sword, and sunrise katana. This map reuses a gimmick from Soliel's join chapter, the movable obstacles, but its an interesting one that deserved a story chapter to shine in (and the map itself is completely different). Game play wise I rather liked this but... The big things for my opening move are that Camilla grabs the obstacle, Keaton and Selena attach themselves at the hip through pairup, Oboro baits the archer to the corner of a wall (which leaves its attack stance partner vulnerable next turn), and with Beruka drawing in the spearman. Next turn Selena chips the spearman with her kodachi, Beruka finishes it with Selena's attack stance, Oboro kills the Samurai attack stancer, Selena gets danced so that she can finish the crippled archer with the kodachi. healer heals and I prepare for the enemy advances. Next turn the first enemy to deal with is an archer from the northeast, Felicia cripples it (and takes a range hit in return) so the Beruka can finish, Camilla then lunges the ninja beside him that is finished by Selena's trusty kodachi. Hayato then chips the mercenary to the west, Sakura range heals Felicia (on the winning run the main archer hit missed hence the small amount of visible damage, but Sakura can heal enough for this not to matter). Selena is danced again to finish the merc in melee with the Kodachi so that the highlighted Archer's will have to each a counter attack. Selena picks up this level from the merc kill Felicia gets a lucky crit to enemy phase the archer (it would have been easy to player phase it so no big deal). Next turn I use Camilla's obstacle to block off the Swordmaster to the east, Felicia heals Beruka and herself, and is then danced to give Beruka a nasty attack stance to her hand axe attack on the spearmen, while Hayato chips the unmoving armor, so that Selena can finish it with the armor slayer without burning a pairup shield block, while moving forward, and Oboro grabs an obstacle. Beruka enemy phases and levels on the spearmen kill another ominous first level. Camilla picks the obstacle back up so that Beruka can draw in the fighter, as the fighter and swordmaster's differing movements have left them unable to support eachother with attack stance. Beruka and Selena both get healed, Selena chips from range (and gets more shield gauge) and gets healed again after Sakura gets danced, while Oboro advances from the lower route while dropping the obstacle to ensure she can counter. Selena finishes the cavalier next player phase for a level While Beruka finishes her fighter, Caeldori blocks the Swordmaster, and Sakura moves in to heal (and give the defensive aura to Caeldori) and to maximize defense I give her rose's thorn and Ryuuji's supportive boost. I manage to chip the swordmaster enough next turn to let Beruka pickup the kill with a hand axe with attack stance for a level and plan to draw in the onmyoji with Felicia's tome breaker (with a Camilla defense stance to ignore the master of arms) With some creative chipping Selena gets the onmyoji kill and Caeldori blocks the master of Arms, and Beruka gets some solid ranged chip with attack stance And grabs a level finishing it next turn With the last of the early promoted units done I split my forces for the next approach, with Selena (and that howling tumor of hers), Felicia, Hayato, and Azura heading west; while the rest take on the east. The east has lost most of its bite up until the Master Ninja near Scarlet and will sum it up as no problem with Beruka leveling once The west is a little undermanned, but not much harder. The archer is being draw in on a previous image and dies easily while the remaining mercenaries are easy to funnel into Selena or Hayato kills without much effort. I end up using Selena's guard stance to draw the Laslow/Peri combo into trying to aid a pointless attack stance with the last archer on the same turn I draw the master ninja using Oboro (you may also note Camilla ranging a bit south to grab an extra obstacle, and some construction work...) Selena levels and fills her guard gauge on the kill and after a dance Selena confronts Laslow and ... Laslow/Inigo you have meet Selena/Severa before, this isn't some mysterious first meeting. because you are acting like an ass. No wonder Selena acts like a tsundere... she doesn't kill him even with Hayato's help (not like she didn't want to or anything) While on the other side Oboro levels after finishing the Ninja on player phase. Laslow and Peri swapped to get the free javelin shot on Selena, its takes another turn to finish both without exposing my dancer, but when I do its time to use Selena to bait the first Paladin meanwhile Ryuuji is drawing out a Samurai on the other side But the end of this turn reinforcements show up. Hayato levels killing the archer that appeared adjacent to Felicia, and I have Selena play it safe against the Paladin While in the east obstacles let me trivialize all but the ninja that easily dies Selena manages to level when the Paladin dies next turn. These unpromoted reinforcements poss no threat at this point and are easily removed I manage to feed Beruka the Scarlet kill after an Oboro hit and I started to draw the general across the river into a ranged battle just as the far more dangerous promoted reinforcements arrive. One thing that is particularly frustrating to note about this map is the way the gameplay so aggressively conflicts with the story all thanks to one little master ninja. Note that with the obstacle placed where it is the explicitly Hoshidan master ninja has no blue units in range and sees the southern route as blocked off so its path finding will make it move adjacent to prince Xander of Nohr, ignoring the crown prince of the nation they are at war with. The Hoshidan and Nohrian armies despite the story's insistence do not fight eachother, even when there are no other enemies in range, and will even aid each other like allies in attack stances. I don't know why they bothered showing which faction they were a part of, or acting like they are different armies on the map screen when the illusion is so easily broken by poor enemy reinforcement choices. On the run I cleared the chapter with I did not wait for this (although the run that ended against the prince I did) Sakura gets a level through healing Oboro up enough to tank a master ninja hit, and Caeldori by helping in an Oboro attack stance Ryuuji picks up the kill and next turn Caeldori promotes After killing the Paladin in the west I dance Selena into place to draw in a ranged battle with her trust kodachi. It takes a bit but Selena kill it, and levels before it dies. Beruka levels chipping the trapped Paladin with a handaxe, but Oboro gets the kill as I want her to promote soon. After the master ninja in the west is dead Selena opens the route to face the last generic paladin Oboro level caps by finishing off the general that she started chipping before the last reinforcement stormed in, and promotes the turn after While Selena levels killing the last generic paladin. I am more careful in my opening chips on Ryoma this time and when the cavalier adds his attack stance we draw back to kill it. Felicia ends up leveling on a heal Now I end up wasting a bit of time trying to make this as safe as possible (I even wait for the army from the west to rejoin the east) but I wanted to get the Ryuuji-Ryoma conversation on the official run and its still a bit of a risk (2.9% chance of reset if this were single RN). Ryuuji tries his best to convince him to join fotces in the midst of their fight but Ryoma isn't swayed, but at the end of the day it isn't logic but grief that made his choice From here I let Beruka level on the last of the mooks that lie between Ryoma and Xander, and Azura ends up leveling as well Xander is a lot easier for Ryuuji to deal with and like his other not-brother Ryuuji pleads with him for help, but Xander strikes first demanding that Ryuuji to return to Nohr, but alas Ryuuji ends up missing a 93% keeping Xander alive, but it turns out for the better as paranoia led me to add rose's thorns to the Ryuuji safety buff, and enemy phase I accidentally trigger Even Camilla tries to convince him to believe in Ryuuji, but it is simply not to be. Ryuuji caps his level finishing his not-brother and finishing the boss Berskerer is easy from range with his silver axe starting equipped. Despite Ryuuji's efforts the Nohrians and Hoshidan refuse to stop "fighting" don't worry not-brothers I've already cleared the map for both of you. What do you mean Azura this run they didn't defeat us. The Valla army fought with the Hoshidan-Nohrian alliance with invisible attack stances and everything (mostly during the general vs Oboro ranged battle). Azura starts to perform her magical song and reveals that her songs have some serious mind influencing effects. How many times has she sung to Ryuuji at this point? Ryuuji tries once more to convince Xander, but he rides off doesn't even really answers this vital question. Ryoma on the other hand seems darn near convinced, and as for his...companion... Scarlet she immediately understands Ryuuji's character and is perfectly willing to join, just not right now. Ryuuji asks that plot relevant question and he accidentally gives the right answer. After the chapter I buy another master seal to promote Ryuuji to

He can believe purple goons. Poor Ryuuji, his efforts ruined by his inability to describe their invisible shade of purple. Part 12 How to train your Wyvern I did a bit of faffing about here. First I grind Selena up to S for and then I delve into some Fashion Emblem. Some of my group have hit there final form, and it is time to accessorize. Lets start with a easy one, Azura Lilith's Kerchief matches her color scheme perfectly, like it was made for her. Now a hard one I might switch this one up if something better shows up in the accessory shop. Her headdress is too icon to change, and none of the face accessories really fit (the glasses are the closest), which left the other accessories, and the hilariously over burdensome medicine trunk felt like the kinda thing Felicia would have. Now for something simple and personal for Sakura The love bracelet she gifted Ryuuji. As for Ryuuji Something that ties him to the history of the franchise. Now Oboro, the loss of her stunning green quiver when she promoted is half the reason I started this. I like the way the golden comb completes the circle. Now for Caeldori. Her samurai outfit was atrocious, and when she promotes its so dull but a beret lets her add some color and character, while keeping the militaristic feel of her outfit. Now its a little early for Selena, but with the Fighter outfit basically being a bikini she needs these shades an online stranger gifted. Now for the chapter story. With Xander's return to castle Krakenburg, rumors and intrigue follow, as Iago and Hans debate his loyalty and Iago points out the most relatable critique of the treacherous Camilla's character ...nice of them to try and make one of their villains relatable. Eavesdropping seems to be the driving force in Elise's story, and unlike Camilla she took that whole waiting for the Perfect moment thing to heart. Meanwhile more questions of loyalty arise as But Xander doesn't want to see the truth The belief that his father can be redeemed despite the advice of others remains at his core Perhaps I am reading too much into it, but this scene reminds me of when Luke tells Yoda that he will not kill his father because he sees the good still in him and believes he can be redeemed. Up until everyone sees his decent into madness Leo then gives Xander just the kinda answer he wants and proves Ryuuji's diplomatic efforts sound. I appreciate this scene that give us insight into what is happening in Nohr despite Ryuuji not being there, but now it is back to the Ryuuji show as his best friend... or not. Oh, this, this is kinda sad Silas. He must have lived a very sad and lonely life. He has clung onto these strong emotions from boyhood, and never found anyone to replace them in his heart, but Ryuuji has moved on with his life. In far less depressing news its time to meet the brand new Wyvern Rider. Now I made a bit of a mistake in planning that I should have used my forge this chapter on an axe, instead I finished raising the Pseudo-Incest to +2. I end up taking a Raider's axe as my box reward to compensate. So first turn I setup Elise for some chip xp on enemy phase, while Effie draws in the first cavalier to the east (and grabs a house) to grind up her support with Hayato, while Beruka grabs the house to the west with Selena to aid in drawing the javelin paladin to the west. That javelin paladin cost me a couple early resets as safely feeding paladin kills to Elise is almost impossible if he attacks the center. With careful chipping, promoted attack stances, and a dance Elise manages to kill both cavaliers that crossed onto our side of the wall for just an amazing level. This is a good sign. Hayato finishes the first cavalier to the east, and rotated around her to get her attack stance such that she could then rotate around him to draw in the next cavalier (its almost like a dance), while Felicia range healed to keep her going. Selena clogs a broken hole in the wall with Beruka attack stance, and Caeldori range chips the first Paladin while plugging another hole in the wall. As Hayato and Effie start working on their absolutely charming support Hayato levels on the cavalier kill While Selena and Beruka flee screaming in terror from the javelin paladin (killing those fighters enemy phase took a lot out of Selena). Elise gets her first Paladin kill, and a dance lets me keep the same chokepoint, but with Oboro this time. Felicia and Hayato (who is still supporting Effie) manage to magic their way through a General, while Beruka with a handaxe and Selena pairup prepare to chip the oncoming javelin paladin, while Elise continues to feed her wyvern on paladins thanks to promoted attack stances and Oboro has to range a bit ahead to kill an archer Next turn Elise starts by killing the last paladin in the center with Oboro's help, and after a Sakura debuffing/chip that leveled her, Elise gets danced, and ferried through pairup transfer chains that ended in a switch transfer attack stance that just a couple points short of killing the javelin paladin, but both Elise and Caeldori leveled off the chip anyway, and Selena leveled off the kill so all the better. Felicia ended up pulling in to heal the javelin paladin chipping force so Hayato and Effie pulled back from the second general's advance By switching the order of Felicia and Hayato(+Effie attack stance) I leave that second general crippled and debuffed enough for Elise to kill it, while Oboro grabs a house and the rest advance on the south With a dance Elise is able to setup some draw in chip xp from the central fighter while Oboro takes some crippling potshots of opportunity on some knights, and Felicia gets a healing level After killing the fighter with Elise (ok I should really be giving the credit to her attack stance partners but you get the idea), she finally goes after some more legitimate kills as the knights Oboro crippled start moving, and Elise levels twice chasing after them As I start pushing in towards Silas's boat I setup Camila as a bridge to let Elise rejoin the group as the first reinforcement are threatening to hit us from the west, and cross the wall to hit us from the south. Elise gets the kill on the archer south, and Effie-Hayato power couple start hitting the one west (but Oboro has to finish it). Elise levels finishing the cavaliers, while Elise and Hayato pull in to let just Effie take the hit. Effie levels in the support grinding, and Elise picks up one of the kills Its about time to recruit Benny, so Elise talks and pairs, to then kill the archer next to him with Elise (after a ranged Caeldori chip). Now she is close enough that one of the mercs can attack her, which activates the other, and a knight, and with cavaliers arriving as reinforcements Hayato levels by killing the injured merc from range and Elise by killing the Knight Hayato continues the ranged merc killing, as Caeldori and Elise block off the cavaliers approach. The javelin paladin reinforcements are worrisome Luckily the paladins don't equip their javelins by default, so in a crafty move I have Beruka hand axe lunge one into the position to let Elise use Oboro's beast killer in an attack stance to finish one (after a Felicia chipping), then I move Oboro to get a ranged chip on the other paladin (and Hayato chip) then dance Elise to move and trade weapon change attack stance Oboro into another beast killer assist to level Elise By this point Elise has gotten to D rank Axe, so she grabs a handaxe and hammer from the convoy. Hayato uses a Effie guard stance to draw in the mobile knight and next turn uses it to finish the knight, and one of the generals, then assists Selena in killing the other (although some light ranged chipping was involved in both). Then I let Ryuuji and Silas talk Ryuuji not understanding is almost worse than him understanding. Selena finished him to level cap and then promotes to Berserker With the east cleared its time to take over the west. Elise Oboro and Effie level on mooks so minor I don't remember them Selena is drawing in the mooks fully to the west, and with people taking kills of opportunity Beruka and Elise get levels The mooks left aren't worth mentioning but and I recruit Charlotte moments before it ends. I suppose this is technically accurate as he gains the shelter skill when recruited Silas, you really need to get out, support some people, and make some other friends. Only Ryuuji's "best friend" is surprised. As Elise becomes fast friends with everyone Sakura included Azura opines

He must have lived a very sad and lonely life. He has clung onto these strong emotions from boyhood, and never found anyone to replace them in his heart, but Ryuuji has moved on with his life. Silas is a character who you either feel sorry for or consider pathetic. Here I think he passes the line of sympathetic. 7 hours ago, Eltosian Kadath said: just an amazing level. This is a good sign. Best Sibling. Doing what she does. :P 7 hours ago, Eltosian Kadath said: As Elise becomes fast friends with everyone Sakura included Azura opines I mean, maybe? Of they'll find another reason to fight. I don't know.
