Von Ithipathachai
This is like the fourth time the forums have gone down and it's getting aggravating. What's going on? Did something go wrong with Jyosua's maintenance? I got 522 Errors both today and yesterday saying the web server was acting up.
Jingle Jangle
SF is acting strange of the past couple of days. From the servers going down for maintenance. Today alone to took me 4 hours to connect to the website.
Armagon
Side-effect of maintenance, i suppose. I've also gotten several 522 errors and some parts of the site took longer to get to than others.
Dragoncat
I asked Jyo yesterday on Twitter and he said the web server ran out of memory. Whatever that means.
Espurrhoodie
That's happened to me too. All I know is that the maintenance didn't do anything regarding my issues with scam ads.

I have that same issue on mobile. It doesn't happen on PC but that's because i have Ublock installed.
Jyosua
We migrated to a different server and it's going to take a while to figure out exactly what settings we need to keep things stable. Be patient. I've been working on this for over 60 hours in the past couple weeks. I also work full time; this isn't my job.

The server has to to store all the information on the website, which includes all the posts, all the user accounts, etc. So I guess enough content was made that the previous servers were just too smol to handle it all. No, the way it works is like this: the server spins up multiple processes that listen for people who request pages. With every request, the process may allocate more memory for a variety of things: caching, space needed to manipulate things in memory, etc. If all the processes are busy, the server may spin up new ones to keep up with more incoming requests, but if it can't it just has to wait for the existing processes to finish what they are doing before they can respond. Over time, the amount of RAM that has been allocated to each of these process may grow if the allocations are not cleaned up; this is called a memory leak. We had some settings on our old server that helped mitigate that issue and, just this morning, I realized those hadn't been enabled on this new one. So I enabled those and tried to tweak some other things; hopefully that will keep it stable. The size of server we are using is also different than what it was before, so we can't just copy and paste the old config -- that won't work. As far as the ads, I've reported some of them to our ad provider, but if you can give us some information about exactly what device and ISP you are using, as well as what the ad displays at first and where it takes you, that would be appreciated. shanni20
There are no malicious ads on PC, but there are on mobile. Seemingly I get more problems when I am not connected to wifi. i use AT&T and have a samsung galaxy S9, which the ad always points out I am using

I use a Samsung Galaxy tab E and my current (will likely switch to Xfinity in July) ISP is AT&T. I have two ads. Thing is, I don't touch anything, but I still get led to these two scam sites. Goodluckday.site is the one that I get the most frequently, it starts out saying that every week *cough*bullshit*cough that their "sponsors" select a random person in my area to win a $1000 dollar Wal-Mart gift card and that I was the selected person and that I had to fill a survey to get it. For some reason the site had the YouTube play button on it, and it also had a bunch of fake Facebook comments saying things like they thought it was a joke but their card came in the mail. While I rapidly try to back up, it turns into some sort of wheel spinner saying that I can win an IPhone 10, a Galaxy Note, etc. complete with a creepy robotic voice saying "congratulations". Happy.uslucky.xyz is almost the exact same thing, but in one of my attempts to back up, I got one of those "Hot moms in your area are horny and looking for fun" ads and apparently I took too long in backing up because I got redirected to a porn site where I was treated to the very lovely image of old man genitals. That image totally won't haunt me until the day I die.
Moonlit Knight
Thank you very much for all your work to keep this site running. I have an iPhone 5S and an Amazon Fire tablet. I feel compelled to report that this site has been practically unusable on either device the past two weeks or so because of forced redirects to the sites listed above. Here's an example screenshot: Spoiler Edited June 1, 2019 by Moonlit Knight

EDIT: I managed to screenshot the spinner part of the scam site, the weird blue chunk is because my city was listed. (And the part saying I have one more spin is because I took too long in trying to get the screenshot.)
