Hero, Don't Kill The Demon King! Chapter 1: Lives Not Yet Thrown Away

Nisha recognized the axe that bandit had been using... it was practically the same make as one she herself had been carrying.

"Takes a lot of guts to go in with a sword against that kinda weapon... Bladen, was it? Well, you made it work. I like your style." Nisha noted as she moved up next to the fallen. For whatever reason, enemies really seemed to like to go after him... not that she was gonna complain about him drawing attention.

The Brigand was dead, very dead. Ayane took a breath after that swing and attempted to settle herself. "Mm..." She could feel her blood still boiling hot, her hands were very close to burning. She bit her lip again to hold back the fury and drew some more blood which trailed down to her chin. "...hah..." With one last breath she could feel more rage leave her, seems like pain was doing the trick if only by a fraction. She moved forward, still eager to take her next opponent.

Ayane moves toward 17, 19

"I'm quite well, thank you, Asami. Glad to see you're holding up okay too." He paused for a moment, considering the situation.

"They're probably not content to sit around while we chip away at them, no. I suppose what comes next will decide things, for better or worse..."

Seilan to (19, 17), Heal Marina.

"Feeling alright? We need to be ready."

"I'm gonna poke my head in, see how things are inside. If it looks too dangerous, I'll be right back."

Jade to 6,30 Glacial Gun the Thief, Canto to 6,32

Between the thief and the pillar it was hard to get a good look, but after moving in a bit deeper, Jade could catch sight of several mages and quite the monster of a man. Depending on if they saw her, and how they reacted, it very well might be a good idea to just slip back out the side entrance. Time to watch and see.

Somehow, they'd made it through all of that. The Drakes, Naomi's squadron, and the group from the castle had all been slain. Of course, they still had a castle to sack, but even if it was just for a moment, they could breathe. It hadn't been long, but Luci already felt like passing out. Likely because of just... everything. The worst of the episode was passing, but she didn't feel much better. What a mess. She could only imagine the explaining she'd have to do after all of this. Even if it was for a moment, she put everyone here in danger. Lucille urged Villkiss back to the clearing before the rear entrance, she needed to hear their next move if she was going to at least try and help out. Maybe she'd...  No, absolutely not... She... She wasn't serious about that. She said all of that to snap you back to reality... She didn't really...

The immediate danger had been dealt with... Lavinia quickly put her bow away on her back, stuffing her readied arrow back into its quiver. Lucille had flown back up, letting Lavinia calm down just a bit. The girl was truly a mess... "Lucille. Are you sure that you're alright? If you need me to escort you off the battlefield, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt our chances." Lavinia knew she wasn't much of an archer, not against well trained men like this. A healer at best, and she could circle about to the main entrance if needed. "I meant it when I said I'd stake my life on it, you know? You might be a human, but the church has hurt you the same as so many of us. We're allies against them, and I'll do what I must to keep you safe." She offered the girl a smile, hoping it would ease some of her worries.

"Ah... I realize that hearing this from a vampire might not sooth worries, but... I hope it helps, somewhat. You did what had to be done against that woman... I don't know if it was the magic that was used, or having to kill another human that set you off... If you need to travel with us and avoid fighting again after this, I'll make sure you can." Not everyone was made for war, less so killing, and a girl not much older than Marina didn't need to be forced into it all any more than she already had been.

The moment Lucille landed, the Vampire was over to her. She was a healer, and Lucille probably looked terrible at the moment; certainly felt that way. But... her concern extended far beyond what would be expected of a healer. Lucille flinched at her offer to escort her from the battlefield, "...What? No, no... I, uh, you're needed here, you can't just leave because I'm..." A gulp of air, "I'm... not really alright, but I promised General Nessraya and the Demon King that I'd do what I could. I... can't let people risk their lives, and not do anything about it."

Lucille looked at the vampire, and her bright smile. It was so bewildering to see such a beautiful smile on a battlefield, but it helped greatly in calming her frayed nerves. "I... know that I needed to do that. Naomi would have killed someone if I didn't... It was difficult but she wasn't... the reason why I lost it. It was the spell... Bolganone, f-fire in general really, but that spell in particular..." Lucille pulled her gloved arm in tight, "It's... not something I want to talk about here. But I should have been clear from the beginning, I have a very bad experience with fire. B-but I-I can't let that bring other people down. I'm still... alright enough to help. But, um, thank you. Your concern means... a lot to me." Lucille had paused and changed her words out of embarrassment. The vampire's response had been very similar to the general's; it felt so odd for someone to worry about her in a manner that wasn't just her ability to help further their goals. It almost felt like before everything came crashing down on her. She had wanted to say that it meant, 'The world' to her. In barely more than a couple hours, members of this group had shown themselves to be far more trustworthy than the entirety of Coteon and the Church. Unfortunately, there were still exceptions to that... one such was likely in earshot of their conversation. "Um... I introduced myself but... I ran off before I could learn your name, Miss..."

There were definitely enemy combatants in there, she had felt the impact. Time to take another shot.

Nessraya to 20,20, Equip Mage band, Bolting Merc 6

While Bladen might have had the guts to stare down a Labrys with his sword, these guys didn't seem to be made of the same stuff. Time to show them how it was done.

Nisha to 18,22, paste Myrm 5 with the Labrys

"Of course. Be ready, this battle looks to be nearing its conclusion."

He noticed the general launching thunderbolts past the walls. Her judgment was likely sound; it would be a safe bet to follow suit...

Seilan to (20, 19), Elthunder (S) Merc 5.

She was committed to doing what she could, then... Lavinia had offered her escort, but would still do her best to keep the girl safe, if she was to remain on the battlefield. Not good with fire, eh? Perhaps something to do with the arm she has covered... If the trauma is that severe, perhaps a burn? Or, since the response came with that women died, engulfed in her own flame... Loved ones, lost to a fire? ... No use thinking about it. I won't be prying either way. Lavinia nodded at Lucille's words of conviction, before mellowing her smile further. "My name is Lavinia Caera. No need for misses or titles. I'm not a noble; not that I would ask for them if I were... Stay safe, Lucille. I really don't know what you've gone through, and I won't force you to tell me, but so long as you're with us, you're friend. I promise." Lavinia had been a human once. Even if undying now, she knew the fears that could come in a mortal body... "All you have to do is ask, and we'll come running."

Even though Ayane had more control now obviously murder is still a successful way to settle her aching blood, so she set her eyes on a poor swordsman and rushed toward him with all speed and thrust toward his heart.

Ayane moves toward 16-2 to stab Myrm #4

That was... confusing. Bladen gave a small nod to... Nisha, right, not exactly sure what she meant but her comments. Sure, the bandit had looked a little dangerous, but so did the rest of the enemies here. He made a mental note to ask her about it after the battle. Maybe she just meant his rushing forward like that, though she had been not far behind him... Either way, no time to focus on it now.

Bladen to 15-22, steel sword Myrm #2. If Marina misses, use Barbed Sword instead.

"Ah, no, that certainly won't be necessary," Jade carefully backed her way into an apology. "Clearly my flight from those Coteon pegasi, followed by my chase of an obvious rogue has landed me into a situation quite above my head. Worry not, this lowly zombie shall now depart." The half-embarrassed, half-ingratiating smile on her face only looked so natural because it was a well-practiced expression. The customer was always right, after all.

Wheeling about, she returned to the base of the stairs marking the side entrance, and quickly beckoned to the other party members nearby. She could explain more when they were closer.

Jade moves to 6,26

"Don't worry, I will." After reassuring Taliyah, Agni walked into the stairs, leading the way to the fort's tower.

There was no time to appreciate the fort's old structure, he hurried up, figuring some kind of long range unit at the ready.

...And there they were... uh, one spellcaster and what was assumed to be the charred remains of a bodyguard. And another less toasted person. "...Hello." Agni readied his main gauche, darting from the stairs away from a convenient pincer. "Hmph!" It seemed, rather than a full unit, they were guarding some of the rebel's provisions in this storage room. Well, Agni could make it quick, they would have to come after him.

Agni to 21-27, equip main gauche, open chest.
