I have always voted for tax increases, but I am not sure what else to do besides voting. What subject do you plan to teach? STEM? History? Gym/physical education? And what age group do you plan to teach? Have you had any existential crisis moments where you were like "Why the fuck did I chose this career?" Specta Posted July 5, 2019 Author Share Posted July 5, 2019 (edited) 1. guardians of children please actually take interest in and support your child's academics oh jesus please 1.b please do not yell at me over the phone when your child does not do well. instead, communicate with me and work with me to teach your child best 1.c thanks for voting for money also go yell at the whole government about how unfair money is distributed in education 2. language arts and i'm licensed for 7th-12th grade so for non-americans, 13+ year olds 3. one time a kid made a presentation for my class but somehow made it all about vore instead and i had to sit for a very long time contemplating my life decisions as i figured out how to handle that mess 4. near the end of the school year, my sophomores managed to hold an insanely productive, thoughtful, and mediated class discussion over our class text without me needing to intervene literally at all. i worked really hard to teach them to have productive, respectful discussion and they nearly made me cry when they occupied a whole class period themselves like that. i had kids assuming leadership roles to moderate the discussion without me even assigning those roles and it was just so beautiful and it made me so happy and so, so proud and i told them like thirty times Edited July 5, 2019 by Specta Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One whole semester crammed into 3.5 weeks with a lab due every 3 days, including Saturdays. It was the worst choice I made in school, I could barely handle the stress, because it was pretty much a physics class and little to nothing to do with star mapping like I thought. Reminds me of a story on I think Reddit where the presentation could be about anything (recipe for disaster?) and the kid who always sat in the back of the room and talked to nobody brought in a plush koala head mask and did a presentation on his koala fursona complete with reading furry fiction about said koala. The person who posted the story said "real sad he's so creative but wastes it on something that pointless" which I'm like...I'm not a furry but I do video game fanfiction and I know I would be offended if someone said that about me. Yet if I could do a presentation about "anything" I'd more likely pick a video game I enjoy so it's easier to understand. Which I did once actually! In his defense Chronos is well known for that lol. Yeah, I totally agree. I feel bad for the kid. Let people enjoy things. Let him talk about his fursona. The thing is though doing such a niche presentation when he's already pretty much the "weird kid" who gets picked on all the time, well, he's not helping matters. I hope he found some other outlet. And I convinced a guy that it sounded like a good game too! But his mom went "No I'm not buying you it because you need a gamecube for it and I already bought you an xbox". So...I guess that's that.
