I love reusing battle animations, really dropped the ball there, they border on awakening levels of repetition, given that this is the first console FE in a while, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but when the next game comes out I will be out for blood.

the great knight is not a proper armor promotion, they wear even less armor than the regular armor knight.

yeah, not diggin the overuse of mounts, really hurts the general class variety, my guess is that caps will not be so definitely tied to classes as other games, because there are classes in advanced tier which have no master equivalent like hero. naturally I expect other special classes are likely not being shown to prevent spoilers, unless they don't want lords having unique master level classes.

At least dismounting is always an option. I think they recognized how op mobility is and instead of trying to worry about balancing it fully they decided to make more mounted classes with dismounting available for aesthetics.

A dismounted Bow Knight, for example, is basically a Halberdier.

I'm starting to think the class tiers aren't strictly better classes, but just classes that are more difficult to master, and we still really have a 2 tier class system, with 2 trainee class tiers below.

Noble/Commoner is the first "trainee" class, and essentially not a class at all. Myrmidon, Soldier, Fighter and Monk are the trainee classes where you learn the basics of a specific weapon type (or 3).

The "real" tier 1 classes are: Mercenary, Cavalier, Armored Knight, Pegasus Knight, Wyvern Rider, Archer, Thief, Brigand, Brawler, Mage, Dark Mage and Priest.

Each of those have a stronger form: Swordmaster (and Hero), Paladin, Fortress Knight, Falcon Knight, Wyvern Lord, Sniper, Assassin, Warrior, Grappler, Warlock, Dark Bishop and Bishop.

The above distinction mostly corresponds to the Intermediate and Advanced classes, except for the flyers. Trainee classes are about learning how to fight with a certain weapon type. Once you've mastered the basics, you can go a step further and learn how to fight while mounted. Pegasi are essentially just winged horses, so the difficulty is close enough to make it an intermediate level class. Handling a wyvern is probably more difficult, which explains why it takes longer to unlock that class. But once you know how to handle your mount, actually mastering airborne fighting isn't any different between mounts. But it sure is more difficult than fighting on horseback (hence why they're both Master classes)!

While the tier 2 classes above are essentially masters of their trade (notice how Sniper, Warrior and Grappler all lose their secondary weapon specialty), that means your units could now focus on combining their mastery over a weapon type with something else. As such, the master tier classes open up more combinations, mostly some high mobility options for the weapon types Paladins/flyers don't have access to, although they will most likely have some drawbacks (like lower caps) so they're not outright better than their non-mounted counterparts. There's Holy Knight, Dark Knight and Bow Knight as mounted alternatives to Bishop, Warlock and Sniper (and they also have a strength in lances) and Great Knight as a high mobility alternative to Fortress Knights. Mortal Savant is meant as a class that can use swords and magic equally well for combat (I'd assume Holy Knight and Dark Knight are still better off with magic than with lances).

The only tier 3 classes seem to be Gremory, as a mastery class for all types of magic, and War Master, who has mastery over both axes and gauntlets (while Warrior and Grappler are specialists for just one of them). In OPs' image, Dorothea doesn't have access to War Master, meaning the strongest class with a gauntlet specialty for girls seems to be Brigand …

Dancer is likely back to being a unique class with no stronger form, and Lord is either the same or branches off into 3 individual Great Lord classes (or Emperor/Prince/Alliance Leader).

The only thing we're missing really are flying options for bow and magic users (DLC classes?).

TL;DR: We seem to have what's essentially a 2 tier class system (with some trainee classes) with the Master tier mostly offering high mobility alternatives for magic/bow/armor units, most likely at the cost of lower stat caps. In-game universe explanation: classes of a higher tier aren't necessarily better, but more difficult to learn

The fact that Dark Mage requires a dark seal and Dark Bishop indirectly requires a dark seal. It would be weird if Gremory was the only dark magic class that doesn't need one.

It's a global magic class rather than a Dark magic one though. I'm not sure access is a factor either, as we've seen Lysithea cast Dark magic when if it was tied to classes focused on dark magic, she shouldn't be able to, by virtue of being female and all.

The Gremory class has access to all kinds of magic, that includes dark magic. Lysithea probably got her dark magic spell from leveling up Reason or something.

Probably, but she cannot be in a dark magic class, meaning dark magic usage isn't special, dark magic specialty is, which is not what this class has. So idk.

Class Mastery unlocks you skills to keep when you class up (Monk unlocks Magic Damage +2).

Bow Knight requires C Lances, A Bow, A Riding.

I think that can be used to properly guess at the needs for the other Mastery Class requirements.

Dark Knight and Holy Knight would probably need pretty much the same requirements, just substituting Bow for Reason and Faith, respectively. I do wonder if needing 3 Skills will be universal for the non-infantry classes, or if it's exclusive to the Paladin "promotions."

Man Gremory being potentially Fem only is hilarious, considering that Dark Knight isn't.

Like Dark Mage and Dark Bishop are Male only, But The Ultimate mage who mastered all magic, including dark is fem only, like why is dark line even gender locked?

I mean Dark Knight isn't(thank god),even if Gremory isn't Fem only, it's still stupid, you make two classes Men only, just to say F you in the end anyway.

And Hero being Men only is also dumb, because both Hero and Swordmaster, hell even Assassin promotes into Mortal Sevant, so why?

Sorry for a little rant there.

But anyway based on Sylvain as a Dark Knight, i think that Death Knight-chan's class is Dark Knight, fitting i know.

And Dorathea's main color is red, so Dancer Dorathea is just Primrose?

They really look cool! Especially the Holy Knight, we've never had a class on a horse that can heal and fight with a melee weapon before! (Unless I forgot about some character-exclusive class...)

I wish there was a flying magic user class, but there might be dlc exclusive classes just like in Echoes... I just hope that, if that's the case, they'll be less expensive and that there'll be a lot of postgame content to use them...

Troubadours and Female Paladins in the Jugdral games could (and so could Master Knights, but they could use every weapon), and so could Mist's version of Valkyrie. But it has been a while.

I agree, especially since Marianne has a Strength in both Faith and Flying.

Valkyre (Mist) in Fe9+10, female Paladins in Fe4 are Sword+Stave.

Female Paladins and Falcon Knights in Thracia and Genealogy can use staves as well as melee weapons.

I was beaten to it, but that was actually a thing in the Jugdral saga first. Then Tellius did it with Mist and Elincia, the latter of who could fly. Then Awakening and Fates had Falcon Knights with lance and staff access.

And i was 100% right about this game being horser than Genealogy. A disadvantage in riding is going to be hard as hell to overcome.

I doubt it. From what I've seen, we're not taking several turns before we start clashing with enemy units, and the maps aren't anywhere near as big.

Uggghh, so many mounted classes in the Master tier.  I hate it.  RIP Halberdiers and Barons.

Anyway, in the Master tier we appear to have Falcon Knight, Wyvern Lord, Mortal Savant (Mage Fighter?), Great Knight, Bow Knight, Dark Knight, Holy Knight, War Master, and Gremory.

Dancers may have a tier all to themselves, or they may require a special exam pass like Dark Mages/Dark Bishops.

It's probably for the best, considering that you have to run around Demoni Beasts to stun them.

Of course, it also means that Beast Killers will become relevant.
