A Time Loop Story : Deathless Sacred Stones Randomizer!

Hello everyone! After having lots and lots of fun playing circleseverywhere's self-randomizing FE8, I decided to finally make this run.

The rules are simple :

1- Let's have fun - The run must be played on hard mode, with the default settings for a randomization.

2- Time loop rule : no man down - If a unit dies, the run is reset. The seed will be named after the dead unit.

3 - No cheating - If I'm stuck against the Demon King because I have no legendary weapons, that's life. I have to redo the whole run in order to get a chance to get a legendary weapon. However, this case should be extremely rare and if I ever reach the Demon King, I should have a weapon at my disposal.

4 - Playing for fun - I'll try to turtle as less as I could in order to make the run entertaining. That means for example that I shouldn't grind bards/dancers just to make it easier for me. Everything is fair game as long as it's efficient.

With that in mind, let's begin! Prologue and Chapter 1

Spoiler

1.png.7ff96fd29bc03035389d8d4244c3004b.png

For anyone asking, those are the settings I will use during this whole let's play.

2.png.a52cc8c5631b03e749f1459e4ab218f5.png

I name the seed after the first inevitable casualty of the run, Fado! Let's see where this will lead us.

4.png.54450b2a9b3e8a99c1973b704f6b7c83.png

So this is how the first chapter begins. A Great Knight, a Myrmidon, trapped against wolves. Seth gives Eirika an Elysian Whip instead of a Rapier, for... whatever reasons. Doesn't he see she can't use it? At all?

9.png.d46c6ea45f5922b1d3373d35b257f5d7.png7.png.bdaa07d5373a6723f16992c8dc0d1f13.png8.png.ba522d9e95659f5ea8b8c6ceeb6833f4.png

This lady right here is the main lord, Eirika. She's true to her old class, being a Myrmidon. Hell, her growths are actually one of a myrmidon if you take a look at them! Her durability is worrying for this kind of run, her strength sucks, and her speed would be fine if it were not for that 8 con that will drag her down, not to mention she's swordlocked. She's a 1/10 unit.

Her first skill prevents her to be affected by seals, while her other skills are shove and the skill from Fates that makes her gain dodge when she attacks.

10.png.e867c379923612d1febd08ad4698d690.png12.png.4fd8adb7f6ebead428a85b877c4fdfe9.png

However, noticed anything? Yup, that Steel Blade she's carrying!

It actually is way too heavy for Eirika to handle! That means that right now, she has 0 speed until I can bring her a better weapon. And due to the poor stats of the weapon, she makes a poor combat unit, like you can see here.

5.png.2ee098adc8b3737d5d615d8958534c4e.png6.png.3777236cf394805802d9c955a677a409.png11.png.04158215667a487dc4bede5bdfed4288.png

Here's Seth. He'll likely be the only good combat unit for a while, with how those randomizers try to screw you. His class is good, his growths are okay, and his weapon's bad, but usable for now. His low speed and strength are actually boons rather than flaws, as it allows him to weaken enemies so the others can kill them easier. Aside from the health base, he should be fine. Considering his role, he's a very good 8/10 unit.

His personal skill is useless. It increases the stats of a unit he refreshes. However, as you can see, Seth is no dancer. His other skills are better. Canto is self-explanatory. Provoke on the other hand makes him a target for every enemy as far as I know. I'm not sure if they keep on targetting him if they can kill someone else, but if we want to survive this run, I'll have to abuse the hell out of this. Natural Cover reduces damage taken by 3 when he's with a terrain with effects. Needless to say I'll abuse him on forests or forts. This will especially come in handy in horrible chapters like chapter 6.

13.png.cf544508b6c21b13e48044b5c7643d10.png14.png.1665e1471cb88dfc1df85ad080a299cf.png15.png.d2af9531c2306542150f5f59ed2221a3.png

This is pretty much how the chapter goes. Seth fights the doggies while Eirika chills behind.

16.png.679133e8df77cbac623fd76b4ad31149.png17.png.15488716da7b6d4a612b208a08fc02d2.png18.png.e129d6decabb74e7b86a5ff2c2099498.png

O'neil goes a little differently. Due to his low damage and accuracy, I just weaken him with Seth and give the finishing blow to Eirika so she can get more experience. Any experience on Eirika is good considering it's likely I go for her road. The only issue about it however would be regarding chapter 11, where L'Arachel has ironically a much higher chance of dying than in The Phantom Ship. (However, it's also worth noting Rennac is much harder to recruit in Grado than in Jehanna, so it's 50-50 on any side)

19.png.34896cf56673b64ae9c951f47e5c0ed1.png20.png.88e2f245ed3f7247c950d300268d6aa9.png

This is the second map. The first turn goes exactly as anyone would expect, with Seth charging in and Eirika staying behind.

22.png.2f23ca2ec67618bb5786f1d01771e30b.png23.png.778aa7b70b45ee7b10aa580a4cdbf531.png

Here's Franz. He's your average Thief. His skills are Seal Strength, who does exactly what it does in Fates, Lockpicking, and a skill that can make has Luck% of giving me a Red Game if Franz finishes an enemy. With 1 Luck that will likely stay at 1 Luck, that skill will never be useful. Franz will likely be only deployed if I really need a thief due to his poor offense and crappy durability. 1 Luck means you're exposed to almost everything, which means not having a casualty will be tough if I deploy him. 3/10 unit, and that's mainly because he can lockpick and make my life easier. It's worth noting however that if I randomized thieves as well, he'd be definitely put higher because you need the items in the chests in order to get through the game. (Less items from events means less odds to obtain legendary weapons which means even less odds to complete the game)

24.png.d18949df3321c79ff7029fd0c767cce1.png25.png.91bfdd5d7ff1068f9097b65f0e6788d9.png

This is Gilliam. He's a bard, which means that no matter the stats, there's no way I'll count him out of any team I make. His skills are Anathema, which reduces the avoid and dodge by 10 of enemies located within 3 tiles from Gilliam's position, and Dance which does exactly what it says. Gilliam's a 9/10 unit by sole virtue of being a Bard. That's literally how good having a dancer is.

26.png.ac6123867a5b59b5ee0c089d4e378969.png27.png.c2772480b3f4fee62d1eda22bb8e1e07.png28.png.1cafc70cf8115915c3aa0e30ce2a7e75.png

My next actions involve pretty much moving people around the map and Eirika getting the first level of the run, which is a level like you would expect from her growths. I like the fact there's the little bubble over the characters to indicate they can talk to another. That's pretty well done.

29.png.379ccac257b5e5ff2533663e2e787a86.png

As Franz faces this bonewalker, you can simply notice the difficulty of the run : random crits can be painful. I didn't notice that due to Franz's 1 Luck, this guy has actually a 2% chance to Crit him. If he did, I'd have had to reset the run. Yup.

30.png.a566962544536c7825ba047ea831b6f9.png31.png.ba837c24ac595fd47022949cc3642178.png

So now we keep on going, killing enemies and feeding experience to Eirika.

32.png.b658478575368db06c5e5b115f9bd3e6.png

However, this is Breguet. His stats may not be impressive, but what you may not know is that bards can use magic in this game. He's equipped with a Fire tome that may actually deal severe damage to my units. His magic and speed make of him a threat, and with the boosts from the fort, he's hard to hit.

33.png.6aa160d13bf8ca60fbdc4d44fcbfc6b6.png

So my only hope is to skewer him with Seth. It's essentially repeat hits until Seth gets the kill.

34.png.2cec75a1d6ec0acd05e754d03f70e1cd.png

While Gilliam was singing for Seth, he levelled up and learned Amaterasu, which makes him even more better, just so you know.

35.png.1f9ab1ba704ac9d79db553066ead788c.png

And with help from Gilliam's Anathema that brought Seth's hitrate to 47 (!), we can kill Breguet and move on.

I have no clue if I'll ever be able to finish this, but expect a wild ride.

I like this idea a lot.

Thanks! ^^

Now, here we go for Fado - Chapter 2 and 3 :

Spoiler

1.png.deacf5b6874e33d35aed12282b50590f.png2.png.0fd68070d6fcf2d6aa309a7bc7a206e6.png

Here's the first new recruit, Vanessa! Her growths are pretty okay and her base stats are fine. However, a few things are worth noting : Tomebreaker is great against this game's... surprises. I'll keep that a surprise until it shows, because you'll see how hard this challenge is when you see that. Her speed, luck and health growths are good so we'll end up with a speedy dodge tank I suppose. Her low strength might be an issue, but it's worth noting she's an archer : if the bows are good, due to fliers being potentially randomly present, she'll have a spot for sure. A good 6.5/10 unit.

3.png.964608bcb0531dcf2723dc344af86b3f.png

Then there's Moulder. I actually forgot to screenshot his base stats so here we are. His skills are pavise, that has a skill% of negating an attack, and Patience, that increases avoid when he's attacked. His stats are actually not that good : 3 attack / 5 speed, 5 defense / 3 resistance. This makes him a tricky unit to use, but 1-2 is always appreciated, and Trainees are actually really good if trained in this version of FE8, so I'll give him a try. Worse case scenario, he'll likely end up a staffbot if he doesn't die until then. 5.5/10.

5.png.8cdbd6ae3f174aee18f1d2e53475915d.png6.png.f4a288aa590ea804ec547afab4c4085a.png7.png.cce8e18081d591680609e4f33f1456b4.png

By the way, here are the stats of the new weapons we got. As you can see, they're nothing to laugh at : all three of them are pretty good, considering Iron Bow can get hit screwed and slim sword Mt-screwed, the result is pretty cool.

8.png.db0a6523e2939039fcf1edca7f87bfa5.png9.png.94171cf16c35c88bf92a1d1cf3130b14.png

We start off by visiting the villages. As you can see, their content is randomized. The hammerne is good, the eclipse is total garbage : I'll probably sell it later on.

10.png.94b2aa917c2a6a74e2843b57133529f0.png

This is Ross and Garcia, fending off against a Monk and a Mage. As you can see, Ross' health has been brought to full in this. I didn't modify it just so I had an easier challenge : it was made on purpose by circles so Ross actually doesn't die every attempt if you don't have Vanessa or Moulder with a flying mount. Thanks for doing this.

11.png.952b8e0c04b0e103f9a5cc6c9f2d19a0.png

By the way, another cool thing done by circles is that mobs spawning on mountains/water or put on mountains/water always have 1 move in there. This can avoid tedious situations in which you're stuck unless you do a massive amount of shoving, which is fun for nobody.

12.png.5e2cbf88a1c8ebe39a1fe2411d94d7ea.png

So we start by trading the slim sword to Frederic Seth so he can weaken enemies harder. Yup, this is exactly like what you do with Robin on early awakening. The lord's even a Sword user, for crying out loud!

13.png.ebb71a8f030a0fc2c19060d82fb54a92.png14.png.c5e0e74f194e949b0deba2cecb42802d.png

ABORT ABORT ABORT

This is the second close call of the run. Aura will be one of my most hated tome in all this playthrough. Why that? Because most monks seem to have it, it has a high mt along a high crit rate, with a non-neglictible hitrate unlike most iterations of Luna. I'll definitely have to check all those Monk's inventories. Hopefully Garcia dodged that one and proceeded to murder the hell out of that Monk.

15.png.5c90dc8a0ac503ed5fabe25e06d9e9c2.png16.png.31e4ee4120e28255440124623a09a02d.png17.png.3ad5a867a85233923a9b121720402740.png

Yup. Definitely Frederic in Magvel. I have him weaken down the fighter so Vanessa walks on his bones.

18.png.f4700ed457fd9a280096fd49561723d9.png19.png.155159f28e60a0382df8881afb83ea03.png

During the turn, I buy items for Eirika and Franz so they have stuff to use. Here's the Iron Sword by the way. Aside from its humongus hitrate, it's in every way inferior to the slim sword, so I'll just rather use the slim sword if I can.

20.png.f8b75cbb1cca22f15aec76c74fb96222.png21.png.d1ca0fedc623cf207e657bccda5bc614.png

Say hello to the third close call of the run! I'll keep a counter of it by the way. This happened because Ross got hit by the Aura guy as far as I recall. Technically, that would be therefore the fourth close call, but as far as I remember the crit rate was low to nonexistant on Ross so it's fine? Anyways, Mages are also annoying. Just like in awakening, they have Focus, excepted this time, they all have focus. Which means that as long as a mage is alone, they have a crit rate. Which means that we need units with good resistance more than units with good defense in order to survive bullshit.

22.png.f2a69ad765ec5ca41d3aabf55853361f.png23.png.f23d214b8c0f39cdda011000f8b3fd33.png24.png.dbb7016385347fd37936dfeabeccf1c8.png

Going further into the map. As you can see, Tomebreaker is pretty useful to get normal hitrates on those monks in the mountain. That aside, yeah, Franz's damage is really bad.

25.png.b9d2c614408a5e16ecb19168322c6acd.png26.png.12c216058367ec2ebe91662acbf68245.png27.png.7ae439871c23ed682b2941ba47b5bc99.png

A few level ups of units worth mentioning. We also get an Elfire in the village. Hopefully the tome is good, but right now nobody can use it, so it'll just stay into the convoy until Moulder levels up. Eirika not levelling speed and levelling defense instead is pretty funny to be honest.

28.png.5fa5cbb3eef7d08c7c9a355ea21410ea.png29.png.1536ac225103ccc417b6501f756ae791.png30.png.b7e72395782f874749e82281f76e9099.png31.png.71a2e79b322bd35e0d3e6c05e6750613.png

We take care of the rest of the map. Vanessa misses her shot on bone so I decide to have Seth get the kill instead. Efficiency and all. Love the Great Knight crit animation by the way.

32.png.44eebd9401921d9f930904c97374784c.png33.png.1ef66192817b0ea6c4e4550fe147fa87.png

Here's Garcia. Be prepared to see this kind of iteration of Garcia, as he's usually a min-maxer. Here, we have a Cavalier with high strength, defense, health, and... that's it! His skills are Seal Defense and Discipline, who do exactly what they did in the other games. SD is a -6 on Def for the enemy after a battle, and Discipline makes him gain weapon ranks faster. He's pretty fine for early game, but later on the speed issues might create lots of problems that Pure Waters won't fix. He could go pretty well if I get lucky, but for now he's just a 4/10 unit.

34.png.850e34d8406e9ffb65f89a8e1a08660e.png35.png.b248727cc1fb6e4170e7de19ef939a03.png

... unlike his son. This, fellow readers, is what you call a Shove-Bot. This unit has no other purpose than to shove or sit around enemy archers giving the experience to better units. Even if it were a simple ironman I wouldn't use him. His stats are complete trash, rotten claw is bad, and his skills are useless : pivot, his personal skill, allows him to deplace himself around an ally and that's all. So yeah, if he's deployed, which likely won't be the case after chapter 3, he'll just be doing shove duty. 0.1/10 unit, and that .1 is mainly because he can shove.

36.png.d4231490dd0de8d2736d8ef72e02dab4.png37.png.aabaf1919922562ae74f7f1af6dd5b89.png38.png.76c0deb701c9ef7427e2ae57c75aeb48.png

Here are the stats of the new weapons...

39.png.86c47d8b5fdd8b84603399acdcf462f6.png40.png.0811c34754d3fc0c64de04935752d936.png41.png.a356743f9d99a6a3ffb77b8e1bde9a88.png42.png.6bf5caa5871ab7cfd7ee11be899bf464.png43.png.ba7209a5364a019d0e9ac21ce7297964.png44.png.49e1f0cdc6b1d0c916c5a463f3b3482a.png

And of the new weapons in the story. So, Steel Sword is broken, Lances are crap excepted for Javelins, which is good, Steel Axe is great, and Hand Axe is balanced like a 1-2 weapon should be, which does not play in our favor. Onwards to chapter 3!

45.png.f732e0a8c9c64e005ee04d7de94888e8.png46.png.cd9d1e520803d74776e2e51ab1d9eb9b.png

This is Neimi. Her skill is barricade, which means she takes half the damage she's supposed to take when she's attacked. She's a mainstay like Gilliam. 9/10. Hopefully her durability issues won't make her the first casualty of the run.

47.png.8aad914e8d283337b77f832c7bf7cdff.png

Okay, this is the map. Something peculiar? Yup, Eirika lords everywhere. This is an image we'll learn to dread everyone. Why that?

48.png.6dc688d367b3bcdbddf23489b038e017.png

Randomly. Generated. Inventory.

This means they can have stuff like this Runesword. This time however, for whatever reason, this runesword isn't droppable, but whatever. What matters is that those lords are dangerous. In earlier versions of the self-randomizing mod, they also learned Aether at lv10, which made them even worse, just so you know.

49.png.889aa776ad3653ebc00022a8250845ad.png

Oh and this guy has a swordslayer, which means he'd instantly one-shot Eirika if she got close to him. I'll have to check inventories literally every time from now on.

50.png.bf3fd783a2ba90caafc1c7866f6e07d2.png51.png.c21c7ab2c9608d4e3b2b683586aef025.png52.png.92f075792bb691db0601bc6504baabe7.png

So we go for the fight. Garcia's a pretty good unit early on to be honest. 12 base defense is nothing to laugh at, as most units won't even get close to that. His main issue as I said earlier is that he suffers from being close to unusable late game. I don't remember exactly why the combat stats are different in the two screenshots, but it's likely due to anathema and another modifier I don't remember. Due to skills, expect to have lots of effects to have to be taken into account...

55.png.94e9ab4ee1a538f9fa21c5e62201ebcc.png

We kill the girl and recrut Colm.

56.png.4a7c05fc058b88044f8c8e00a2695d9f.png

This is Colm's stats. As you can see, if he were not a thief, he'd be unusable. Bench excepted if I have a slot for him because I need both him and Franz for whatever reason.

57.png.863d3a0c7511a9b99f7954ac767ddbf7.png58.png.e6ffbf017993628c8b5661feadda05c9.png59.png.02f504fc463c42719cba4752aeed07e1.png

Seth chips the guy and I use this opportunity to show you why having two dancers is great. Essentially, it means I can refresh anyone anywhere on the map, like I do here with Seth. The goal is to prevent that thief from taking anything from the chests. Why? Because they have usually very valuable contents. It can be money, which is impossible to gain back if the thief takes it, legendary weapons, or even useful statboosters. It's also likely there is trash, but I need every single one of those chests in order to get a legendary weapon, otherwise the game is unfinishable because the demon king will have good stats. So yup, I need to prevent this guy from doing anything funny.

60.png.3ac6229a78b76d00186b1b9b12bfd151.png

However... Seth doesn't make it. The thief will likely get a chest, and if it's money, it will be really annoying as we really need every single gold boost we can. I'll expand on that during the next chapter.

61.png.79b5c862ae37b47efb801563242cb255.png62.png.7ae92002c9a95f38fecd70b07f97668e.png

BUT. I have a plan. You see, a quirk of the AI is that if a thief can steal something, it will prioritize that over anything. Which means that giving Garcia, a unit with low speed this Torch will make the thief go ahead and steal the torch! While this may make me unable to get the thief's droppable lockpick, it would have likely been sold, and if any of those chests have something worth over 1000 gold, that will make up for the loss.

63.png.c6948fb561913443e942aada697f8dab.png64.png.831cbb14c831ac1437b91438b452665a.png

Meanwhile, Seth kills the knight and gains this pretty meh level up. This needed to be done because he could have gotten in Garcia's spot and prevented the thief from reaching him, which is again something I really don't want to happen.

65.png.65edb919b1b08fd5d1c0c701b904d281.png66.png.3a6ac8904c787c7d660598b18e80a38e.png

And voila! I have prevented this thief from getting anything in the chests successfully! Now it's only a matter of dealing with him... By the way, you may notice my units are put in a specific way. That's because I definitely need them not to be in the range of the runesword lord. If she can use that runesword, it's very likely she'll tear anyone she hits apart. That's how good Eirika lords are. When they're equipped with a bad weapon like a Slim Sword, considering they now have no Aether until Promo lv5, they're a non-threat, but if they have a high weapon rank, you'll definitely have to play around them. Especially if for example said runesword were droppable.

67.png.bc3b7ba8aff45b55da925d396cdc9b7b.png68.png.e6312535d62afe224035ece576ca6ccf.png69.png.26ae74a45ed348a8e6e1e9448dd6c100.png

We proceed to kill the thief. This is Ross's only contribution in the entire Fado run I suppose, so marvel at that. Shoving Vanessa so she can hit a 51% hit. Expect lots of those low percents to show up by the way. If Vanessa had missed anyways, I'd just have given the kill to Seth and moved on.

I loot the chest and puts Seth on the range of that lady. As you can see, 11000 gold is nothing to laugh at. By the way, I looted the other chest and forgot to screenshot it : it had an Elysian Whip. Out of all the randomly generated items, this had to be another Elysian Whip.

72.png.434884c3939424124dffaa1509b7b28d.png73.png.cb7d5e17e578d83a52c9467f8fb38ab5.png74.png.e044c27a5ea1bfd9c1f241f18e4a7ab3.png

As you can see, that Eirika lord is nothing to laugh at. She deals a good amount of damage to the best unit on the team and doesn't take enough in return to die. Considering I don't want to take a lot of risks, what's the best solution?

75.png.4a36be2db9c98416572bbefc97a2913c.png76.png.c7e45b536b4afad1e2ba6c0c4e3c9698.png77.png.4e2954c251b360a08b32e1319e229de4.png

I don't know if you noticed it, but on the last screen, it's likely that the Runesword was considered to be a spell, due to the weapon triangle having no effect. Because of that, Vanessa is our savior right now. Due to tomebreaker, the Eirika Lord has no chance of hitting her, and with our two dancers, we can refresh Vanessa so she deals enough damage to kill her. She also gets this good level up, in which she procs the hell out of her 20% strength growth.

78.png.8a051a18662b9f5cbd9fb7845c5945df.png

And that's the third Elysian Whip of the Fado Run, everyone.

79.png.57e4ec59bb7802764491cb7cd84592a7.png

As you can see on this screenshot, I'm having Moulder attack this lady from afar. While I could open the door and attack her, there's a very good reason for me to keep her locked.

80.png.72b850e38fcd3e3d8cab25c9e4657b9f.png

Yup, she has a Brave Sword. That essentially means she can nuke anyone who dares to approach her. However, that also means I can just obliterate her from afar, which I what I choose to do.

82.png.dd15d78db40db17b6c1e87425296f828.png83.png.b39287f181952d59b846c9f025e6b304.png

As I keep on moving into the map, I get an Amnesia Scroll. It allows me to remove a class skill of any unit I want. However, I find it rather useless : if I ever wanted to remove a skill in order to insert a better one with a Skill Scroll - allowing me to learn a random skill to any unit -, I'd rather like to take down a personal skill, because they happen to be pretty much taking a skill slot sometimes (like with Seth).

84.png.4082c8f82ccb2ff61034920c80d03f0c.png85.png.77757a8806b5261c1a99ece8e728fa40.png

Vanessa gets the finishing blow on Bazba, and procs again her strength growth. I'm not rigging any levels by the way, so I'm just getting pretty lucky right now. Considering how much I'll need luck to be on my side during this run, this is cool.

And that's it for chapter 2 and 3 of the Fado run. Chapter 2 and 3 are usually pushovers. 2's only difficulty for this run is that Ross can die if I'm unlucky, but that's not that much of a problem unlike L'Arachel as we'll get to see later on. 3 is just a complete pushover as long as I do what I should do in this run, as in being careful about every single enemy and making sure I get the chests. See you at the next update!

Eclipse. 22 Acc. WTF is this crap. And lol Ross, what the heck.
The truth is that Ross is actually really-really dead but his corpse decided to join the team.

A dancer who takes only half damage when she got attacked which means all the time ? It's both the best and the worst thing ever, best in case she gets hit, worst because she shouldn't be hit in the first place.

Where the heck does that skill come from though ?

Haha yeah he's pretty bad. I mean it's mainly good stuff for me : if she's hit due to me being unlucky, she has a chance not to die at least. No clue where the skill comes from. Some skills are pretty weird.

Here's the update!  Fado - Chapters 4 and 5

Spoiler

1.png.033fa8647e747659958c4541b9c0f046.png2.png.6dbad438d89fa6da713b600fa5a4e242.png

So this is Artur. An interesting thing about Artur is that he autolevels, so his bases may not be the same between two seeds. His growths are pretty bad, but his bases are really good. It's easier for him to survive at least than for Garcia if a mage user crosses his path, so I suppose he's a 5.5/10.

4.png.c0ae337f3b1af0d9ac0a5969768e0067.png5.png.daeb0bf2cf4b75c9da5957cdc838d471.png

Now that we're allowed to access the armory, I want to talk about it! As you can see from those screenshots, the armory sells every E item for any class, and... statboosters and master seals (also scrolls but we don't really care about them for now). Which is why we want money. You see, it's highly unlikely we get all the promotion items we need. So, money is hella important in this game. It's useful to buy statboosters to boost your powerhouses or help your units survive, and to buy the promotion items you desperately need.

3.png.acb8e52c378f3691e3b912b41e0cb9aa.png

That's the army I'll take. You'll notice there's Ross in there, despite me saying he's completely garbage. Why that? He can shove, deal some slight damage, and has way better odds of surviving than Franz and Colm if a mob looks at him the wrong way.

8.png.bfb3a1b511dec78c1ebb5e4298f7af4c.png

This map is filled with Fliers and Shamans. That means Vanessa just has a field day over here.

9.png.cca63c2cd83dac4138b9c2a0aa11a091.png10.png.6e98271f967476e1e5e0f3bf0d6cc84b.png

But of course, I'll give other units experience as well! It's worth noticing Javelin's might is so low Seth can't ORKO some of those mobs, blessed with high health.

13.png.00d0b3621edc61d1af1a2dc4a1642ce6.png12.png.73dbd9a595d7601deaf1c8d697bf95db.png

See that lady? She's dangerous. She might have below 60% hitrate, but her critrate makes her a potential murderer. After a run where one of my best units died to 20% hit 6% crit, I'm not willing to take this kind of risks.

15.png.c9c90b3b9993076825c33cb73c3b97f5.png

This lady nearby the PK has a droppable Light Brand. I just need to hit her first though, otherwise she'll likely switch to the Light Brand and all I'll get to loot is an iron sword.

14.png.914f4904cf30f1a91c5d6f95e147ae69.png17.png.2b841df4c0de3c4b1e862e98e48e04a2.png

I have Seth going to the village and I refresh him so he can aggro the pegasus knight, I mean the monster. Those stats are beautiful.

22.png.3bb983d9f67276b12131657769736fcb.png23.png.44ad2dd9067f8214bd18b83a04747543.png

I put some people past the tree so the reinforcements spawn. Since they're all Shamans I just let Vanessa handle them.

24.png.38b7f9749022ebc38e37a23610502fcb.png25.png.c8831802b5ab15e3e8dda38a1b108dc8.png26.png.9ffe6b0849bf896cb88c297215fd7d1c.png

We recruit Lute. Her skills are counter (does exactly what it does in other games, ie reflect physical damage taken at 1 range if I remember properly) and Malefic Aura (enemies within 2 tiles of Lute gets -2 res). Her base stats would be fine... if she had a little bit more health. As it stands and with that 65% growth, she risks way too much getting OHKO'd. While it'd have been great to train her because summoners are amazing in ironmans and therefore in this kind of challenge, we have to leave her as she is. Those are the stats of Luna by the way. Low hit rate, but an existant crit rate for any unit that has less than 11 (+ around 5) luck, which means it can and probably will screw us over. 1/10.

28.png.bde20b0265c80f5004937646616c232b.png29.png.14a7705cfa66da7cfed31977a182afb8.png

The boss gets taken care of by Vanessa, who gets danced to it. You don't joke with Crimson Eye. So far I'm pretty happy with how she's turning. Her durability is fine, her speed is great, and her strength/skill/luck is at least above average. If this run makes it to the midgame, she'll likely be a mainstay.

30.png.0f25798f48482de9161d338121e75cbf.png31.png.7ff33654262c983101d1739862187333.png32.png.4481ece76c005d61093dbf666067304e.png

Moving on to chapter 5, here's Natasha. If I want to train her, I may get a decent swordmaster... but man her base durability sucks. She dies to anything. Her speed is great, her offence would be great, she'd be some good mage killer... but that requires training her. And I don't really want to do that considering it may screw the Fado run. Her personal skill is Darting Stance, which increases her speed by 6 points if she gets attacked. While again, she'd be very efficient at dodging, this is a risk I don't want to take. 1/10.

33.png.b5f79b1ed330c5095342c9577c69e0f1.png

Those are Flux's stats by the way. As you can see, pretty decent tome... but Lute is just too hard to train. 12 Base HP screws you over.

36.png.8e2bcce7aa51f71c2f6555b1b197c498.png34.png.348d6349411e539a5d41efd9fc2b87cc.png35.png.b075b98679f5b0391472a9fda2c16c72.png

By the way, this map has those little asshats. While they may not appear scary... They learn darting blow at lv10. And have a good Speed/Skill/Strength spread most of the time. So they likely double. And with Fiery Fang's stats, it's likely that if they appear later on, I may have to protect anything without a good defence stat as it will get doubled by these on enemy phase. Yup, they're a real annoyance.

38.png.d00f6fde20f1a97c2fc4af0f1312779b.png

So this is the team for the map. Gilliam/Neimi because they're refreshers, Seth because he's amazing, Vanessa, Garcia and Artur for their stats, and Moulder because chip is good and if I can get him to lv10 he's set for the game.
39.png.966ce884ae0c5acb31e3773760732aa0.png40.png.46729b8474cd08fcc1f127a6337da765.png

This is Joshua, by the way. Despite the really trash Short Spear he carries, his stats are really good. The only downside is that 19 health, but with 13 defence it should be fine. His personal skill is impale, which has a Skill% chance to quadruple the damage he deals. A pretty good skill for a 7.5/10 unit.

41.png.86e8771546958b64d20de3dca8cf1d1b.png42.png.ff4f2d4a13d952515442084db030792a.png43.png.473ed2a0084bbb75603a5b92f1700791.png

Seth and Artur clean up the doggies. They're pretty good at it.

44.png.863c4fcb2a130ec24881cada0f42087c.png

Woops, I didn't mean to aggro him. At least, Seth didn't kill him. (Not shown : Seth doubling)

This is the 5th close call of the run, as a critical hit would have forced a complete reset.

45.png.fccd11de443f176255757c9aa01049ae.png46.png.abe1a263cb3f2918f562c578d1fe4f3f.png47.png.e9bda444dbfaf337f5b5d64a848c149a.png

And these two bandits can also be run enders. Why? Because they usually spawn with not so bad stats and on a terrible place for a second turn. Which means that any of my unit could be in danger if I don't position them properly. Thankfully, they happen this time to be archer with crap bases, but other times they could be really good units, so I just got lucky there.

48.png.0b9aeac891734686ccef37207b77a1d4.png50.png.ab2971aab241ac99092f8e047e9a944a.png51.png.3172ec751f16e5be961ceb8cabd87f46.png52.png.a2fc5e46a7a109e810b5fbbf5eb8bbb0.png

We clear up the dogs, as Natsha recruits Joshua. As you can see, his growths are pretty fine, excepted for his strength one. Having good speed and durability will be pretty good for me though.

53.png.b9a882b31098fad7cdb73b9dee7a53ee.png

Yeah, that's how bad the Short Spear is.

54.png.262060b3b747e86192d37e17b2909070.png56.png.1470acdc6f02f4aaa1ac3c57e4871b41.png

Which is why I have Joshua rescue Natasha and go to the bottom house while the others do what they're supposed to do.

58.png.c00b3e902bd2eeeae8023cfeba1502da.png

And yet another close call as Moulder could have died to a crit.

Close Call Counter : 6

59.png.dc270eb5a15ffdf621fc5f7d7a4ddf98.png60.png.91d8ebe1e86d2e024f5ce9034f87f2d9.png61.png.4ef8233d47807fd78bc1dd90b3128dbc.png

The bottom house gives us another useless promotion item, an Orion's Bolt! Eirika remembers us how useful he is by killing someone that could OHKO her, and Seth proves he beats the weapon triangle through his 16 defense. This is looking more and more like Awakening's early game.

62.png.7dbc4ee812ccfd8435fe7aad99dc318e.png63.png.b794567d3f8b7b9ba7be63abc30208f0.png65.png.67057e45d4fbf6607e869be3e23cabe8.png

Shown here are the leftover actions of the turn. Garcia kills an archer and gets for the second time strength, luck and defense despite having TRS levels of growths in those stats, so I'm pretty satisfied with how he's turning out. I show with Joshua here that you can drop units on any tile as long as it can be reached by a flying unit. This will be particularly useful later on, if we ever get to that point. The house gives us the boots, by the way. No clue to who I should give that so far.

67.png.ff0e13f81eb32284cf208d3ca179784c.png

That on the other hand is a very easy item to give to Eirika. She'll be able to use the steel sword without a speed penalty thanks to that.

68.png.1bc7906beda45bf02e92ea3057a37750.png69.png.18a82e4b240c73d0f90dc3e6d84db56c.png

Saar would be troublesome with those stats, but he's a complete joke because he wears an iron sword and doesn't move. That leaves me plenty of options to kill him. Of course, I'll take the boring one and wear him down with 2 range.

70.png.7cd62b258964c6c7ffb72cadbf31858b.png71.png.3a0c0db77520fa10914ec517b18cf493.png73.png.80e688902bcc63e0307f4dfa028dd740.png

Reinforcements happen. They are quickly taken care of by our army.

74.png.5784f64f665ed206123d296e33979d39.png75.png.80d0889dcb64a8cd346ab7f865a01be8.png

I get into Amelia's house, and she forgets to take an Iron Bow, I suppose. All that's left on the map are Saar and this random mercenary dude.

76.png.3b907f245e1960f6e0b36670565410e5.png

This is Moulder's damage, by the way. So much for trying to give him experience on the boss. I'll just use Vanessa and Arthur to take him down, while Garcia removes the merc from existence.

78.png.2050c5207613ee0d2c553fb4a90377da.png79.png.21d1aa23d2be263bcd2a9ac3ac461ef5.png80.png.36b7c0b0169fd83d37ff0121472e7c0d.png81.png.380d460395efbd6d9e87b294d9353449.png

Vanessa kills the random wyvern and levels up, proccing strength once again, while Eirika reminds us she can deal damage and get good level ups too. This is the second time she proccs her 15% def growth by the way.

82.png.aea06a43a00409e179f9854bf00ab925.png83.png.3e620a203d39b2444a360665ddfee040.png84.png.d2a72ebf655e2c1e1c3cfb23356a39ea.png

Vanessa gets the boss-kill, somehow proccs strength once again and we get an axereaver for saving all the houses. Axereavers are usually good so I'll take it positively.

Those chapters are usually, just like chapter 3, not a problem. The real problem like in the two chapters that come, Chapter 5x and Chapter 6, but I'll expand on them in the next post. So far, though, aside from a few units, the run is turning out pretty well : hell, it could even end on the Fado file if I get lucky with the chests and events! We'll see where this takes us.

NEXT TIME

Artur auto-level, whaaaaaaa. But with his shitty growth, it's not going to help much. 😛
Oh Lute honey, what they did to you, she is Mag and nothing else. Natasha woud make a decent dodge-tank for a time and nothing else... and she can can recruit Joshua, who is actually pretty good with good skills.
With how much crap some weapons are, I'm left scared by what what the legendary weapons would be.

Two bard, one thief, one Jeigan Druid who's going to betray you. WTF is this shitty team.
