Does everyone need to escape like in chapter 4 before Leif or can I escape with Leif before the others?

Everyone in every Escape must escape before Leif. That's the unbending rule of Thracia.

Fortunately, this chapter is bit easier than C4, without any endless reinforcements to put up with. And Nanna can heal.

FE5 is the only part which treats an escape chapter as an actual escape chapter which means everyone who has not fled after Leif counts as captured => death. It is a brutal mechanic for some players, but it fits to 100% to FE5's atmosphere and gameplay.

Okay thanks now I'm on chapter 6 but Leif is running out of light brand uses and I don't have a hammerne in my party right now. Should I stop using it or will I get another light brand later on or is this like FE4 where 0 use weapons can be repaired?

You can only repair with the hammerne staff Safy have, and you can do it again after she rejoins in like ch8 or so. If you want to you can fix it but yeah, no extras. The good thing is you can empty the use before fixing it, since the game remembers the weapon(it become broken sword but it remembers being Light Sword so you can fix broken ones into full new) so if thats the route your taking, do go so

 

 

For the record if you saw a Prf weapon usually with 60 uses they tend to be one off. Light and Earth sword are both Prf so..... yeah

 

Hammene is also a one off

same goes for brave weapons and magic swords too. you won't get many of them, so use them only when it's really needed.

All Escape chapters are the same. Once Leif escapes, the chapter ends - whoever left on the map is automatically captured.
