So there has been little definitive discussion regarding the mechanics of New Game +, specifically what carries over and what's newly available. Wanted to create this quick reference to pitch in what I've discovered so far and help shed some light where possible.

Changes:

Saint Statues: Right off the bat, the primary difference between a regular playthrough and an NG+ run is that the bonuses you have previously unlocked from upgrading statues are permanent and will carry over. They do not have to be re-purchased using renown, as it has been established that it is not possible to fully upgrade all four in a single playthrough. These upgrades will remain permanent for every subsequent playthrough, and will never have to be re-purchased so long as you are playing on the same File chain. The total amount of Renown required to fully upgrade all 4 statues is 40,000 Renown (10,000 each)

The Ability to Purchase Previous Supports: You will have the option of purchasing Supports that you unlocked with characters in previous playthroughs as long as said characters are available to interact with. They are not unlocked by default once purchase, meaning they will need to be re-purchased in every subsequent run. As an example, my Blyeth attained an S-Support with Dorothea on my first run, thus it was possible to immediately purchase Supports from C-S for Dorothea on the first New Game + using Renown. On a second playthrough, if your Blyeth S-Supports a different character, say Edelgard, then on every future NG+ playthrough, both Dorothea and Edelgard will have their C-S Supports immediately available for purchase. The exchange rate for one level of Support is 400 Renown for every level, so one full S-Support is a total of 1600 Renown.

The Ability to Immediately Upgrade Professor Level: It takes a total of 4500 Renown to fully upgrade to A+, which will allow Blyeth an immediate 10 Activity Points on each Explore day. It is NOT recommended that you fully upgrade right from the beginning, as doing so will prevent Blyeth from earning Renown from activities that would normally raise their Professor level, such as eating meals.

The Ability to Purchase Skill Levels, Combat Arts, and Abilities: These need to have been previously unlocked on a specific character from a previous playthrough in order to be available for purchase, i.e., if a Felix from a previous playthrough attained an A+ Skill Level for Sword (regardless of which of the four routes you recruited him) you will have the option of immediately purchasing an A+ Skill Level as soon as you have Felix in your roster, much like Support. As with Supports, all previously unlocked Skill Levels, Combat Arts, and Abilities on ALL runs will be available on subsequent playthroughs, but the unlock will still be specific to the character (i.e. unlocking a skill for one character on a previous playthrough does not make that skill available for Renown purchase on another in NG+)

All Previously Hired Battalions Remain in Inventory: Battalions that you acquired in previous runs will be immediately available in your inventory from the start of NG+. By extension, all battalions you had in your first and second playthrough will be available in your third, and so on. These are availble from the start, and do not need to be re-purchased.

Shop Items: All unlocked Shop Items from your first playthrough will be immediately available on every NG+ run. This includes items that are typically stocked in limited quantity, which will still retain their monthly limit. Prices do not change for items, and specific shops (such as the Battalion Shop, Eastern/Western Market, etc.) must still be unlocked with their specific conditions (certain day, completing the relevant quest, etc.)

Crests: Upon completion of your first playthrough, several Crest Items will be immediately available in the convoy for use. These have various in-battle abilities for you to use on subsequent runs as long as your character has it in their inventory. The specific crests allocated vary depending on choices made during your previous playthrough, although it is currently uncertain what specifically determines the Crests you are given.

Appearance: You will be able to switch each character's outfit from their Student Outfit to Post-Timeskip Outfit. The three main lords also have an additional option of changing their hairstyle, should you so desire.

Acquiring Renown:

The amounts of Renown rewarded for typical activities are as follows:

Quests on Exploration Days in the Monastery: 200-500 depending on quest

Completing Battles/Quest Battles if Battle option was selected on Sunday: 100 per Battle if Blyeth is MVP (this does NOT include battles on normal mode that do not require Battle Points and can be infinitely farmed)

Completing Monthly Missions: 100 per Mission only if Blyeth is MVP

That's all for now; will update as more is discovered along the way.

I'm more interested in NG++ features, so please tell me if I got this right. (Thanks for compiling all this information!)

Carries Over
- Renown (Any left over is carried on, I think)
- Statues
- Battalions
- Shop Items
- Crests (More can be unlocked with Renown)
- Appearance (Costume changes, including voice lines if I recall correctly.)

Requires Unlocks (They need to be purchased in each different file)
- Supports
- Professor Level
- Weapon Level, Combat Arts, Abilities (This is for everyone, not just Byleth)

* * * * *
Also, I take it spent renown on "consumables" doesn't come back for subsequent playthroughs? (So one needs to continue earning Renown to purchase things.) Then, as an aside, if there any "postgame" content for continuing a save after beating a route?

* * * * * EDIT * * * * *

So, I guess the strat may be to raise Professor Level to at least C or C+ (whatever gets you an extra battle). Then, use Supports as a way to recruit students from your previous house/playthrough if desired. Finally, one can play around with the different weapons and abilities with the unlocks.

No voice changes apparently

Anything on renown increases compared to the first playthrough? I thought I read somewhere that renown is boosted in NG+.

Looks right to me. I'm unsure about voice lines. If they're attached to attire choices, sure, but I don't recall there being a voice line section. There doesn't appear to be any reason to reload a completed game file.

Excellent, thank you for doing this. As this is a new game+ thread, I won't spoiler mechanics. I do hope they make renown farming easier, but then again I just started my new game+, maybe it's easier later

I unlocked the unit outfit changes, but for some reason I cannot change Edelgard's hair. Perhaps it is because I did not already do her route?

Regarding voice lines, I believe the game said that voice lines will not be changed, alongside portraits.

I can't imagine needing more renown after beating all four paths. Prof level and statues are the best things to spend it on imo. Everything else feels like cutting challenge/content too much for my tastes (besides cosmetic changes).

So if I'm reading you right, as long as I keep using the same file for each NG+, I can buy my skill levels up to the highest level I've ever had them at, regardless what playthrough that was in?

Yes, this is organized correctly. Regarding consumables, that's right; renown must be "re-earned" in order to purchase said consumables.

At the moment, there is no known "postgame" exclusive to NG+. This does not account for any future DLC that might change things down the road.

Why stop at C+? Can you max out Prof level easily after snagging it? Wouldn't you eventually have enough renown to max out prof level and still do whatever you want?

So new game+ allows you to get rolling way faster, using renown to get your professor level back to A+ at break neck speed, as well as get your c rank skills to get all the recruitments, may require 2 plays to get the best yielding New Game + file to start new playthroughs as you do not get enough renown to get all 4 statues maxed.

The ideal scenario is you spend 2 playthroughs getting Byleth to the pinnacle of awesomeness, so when he/she tutors, everyone gets extra points based on his/her class levels, the first step for the first playthrough though is to try and get every skill to C to allow recruitment, since getting the stat points is easy if you just pump exp into Byleth

yes, but this seems only possible for the Lord and only the one you are leading.

In general you can only change the clothing of students if they are in your house, that means as soon as you recruit them you can change them to their post-skip design.

Also their face-sets do not change, it is only the model.

Okay I have the values of renown spent to get things done in New Game Plus.

Professor Levels: 500pts Renown Per stage

Support Levels: 400 for C rank, Can not say if its the same for others, but more info later

Skill Levels: 500 per increase (As ranks go up to S+, Going straight from E to S+ is 5500pts

Class Abilities: 500, Regardless of Tier of Class (Mercedes Holy Knight was only 500 for example)

Crest Items: 1000

Now it works just like Statues, and if you earn a part of say Skills or professer levels, it will reduce the final price per stage you do not have to pay for.

When you say "same File chain", does that mean you can only use the NG+ features/bonuses by overwriting a previous save file?

Eg. If I did a Black Eagles run first, and then started a Blue Lions run in a second save slot while keeping my original save file, I couldn't use NG+ for that second slot?

(I don't have the game myself so I'm not really sure how any of the save file mechanics work! Sorry for the noob questions!)

You have 5 save slots, I did not have to overwrite my Golden Deers to Play Blue Lions, at the end of your playthrough, you get asked if you want to make a new game + save from your last playthrough, To be honest, I don't know why you'd ever say no, as you just get more and more renown to pile up.

So if you max prof level you can still earn Renown from quests and battles right?

If so I'll probably max Prof level as soon as I start, the benefits outweigh the penalties imho.

Can someone verify in what cases you do not get renown anymore after maxing the professor rank?

I started a ng+ file and tested around a bit and have not been able to get renown points for having dinner or ranking up naturally in professor rank.

Beyond that it would be also good to know if you really do get renown as stated by the thread creator how much it is and if it really outweighs the renown you can get having access to 3 battles and making it a lot easier to open up the extra paralogue maps fulfilling recruiting requirements faster.

I have seen people mentioning earning Renown from dinner invitations, but I seem to only get the usual Motivation boosts and Professor EXP? Is there something in particular you have to do to get Renown out of it?

Actually, I have seen a lot if people talking about Renown from activities that only give me Professor EXP. Like the tournaments held in the training grounds. Are people just using the terminology incorrectly? It would be nice to know how to earn Renown outside of skirmishes and quests because I am pretty sure I have not earned it any other way.

I'd guess they're confusing the two resources.

Yeah I just tested it, you do not get renown for eating. Probably confusing for Prof Exp

Yeah, I just tested it and not only do you not get renown for getting professor XP, you also don't get any for leveling up as a professor, so it should be fairly safe to buy up professor levels early (though consider that if the cost is pro-rated you'd save some renown by getting early levels normally before there's enough stuff to actually spend 10 action points a day on).

Am I understanding correctly that the only things that actually carry over between playthroughs are the statue levels, unspent renown, and the limits of how much support/skill/etc you can buy with renown? If you buy sword up to A+ or spend renown unlocking lifetaker for a student who was a dark bishop in a previous life, the purchase only lasts until the end of the current playthrough, but the renown is gone forever, it won't be refunded at the end of the playthrough or anything? If you buy crests, on the next playthrough will all the ones you have unlocked so far still be unlocked for free, or just the ones that you would have qualified for based on the last playthrough?

Just hypothetically, say if you wanted to have a "100% file" where you recruited everyone and they are all S+ across the board and have access to every skill, you'd need to not only play through the game repeatedly until you've reached S+ in every skill with everyone at least once, but then you'd need to play through it dozens of times not spending any renown, just saving it up to spend that final time?

Yup, by re-playing the game you just extend your "pool" of available things to purchase with renown, be it supports, crest items, skill levels. The statues are the only thing that actually grows as it carries over.

Do you only get Renown from battles if Byleth is the MVP?
