How does Mastermind actually work?

As the title says, I am confused about how Lysithea's personal skill actually functions. The description only says it increases skill experience, but her weapon rank gain seems to be about as fast or slow as everyone else's, while it is her class EXP that increases at a faster rate, almost like she has a Knowledge Gem equipped all the time.
So, my question is: is Mastermind a mixture of a Knowledge Gem and the Discipline skill I initially thought it would be or is it just an innate Knowledge Gem.

after combat, lysithea gets double exp for weapon ranks, mounts and class exp

knowledge gem is sort of an equippable version of mastermind, but i don't know if they stack, should you have both mastermind and a knowledge gem

They stack, Lysithea gain triple class xp with a knowledge stone.

Mastermind and the Knowledge Gem both add +1 to your skills gain in combat, and yes they do stack

Example: Heavy Armor gain in Armor Knight

Weakness -1

AK +2

MM +1

KG + 1

Base 2 - 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 5 points gained per fight
