Describe your Fire Emblem Warriors 2

Recommended Posts

This is a sort of general wishlist/design thread involving 3 major categories: story, new characters, and modes.

So to start out my example, I'm going to cover story.

The story of my FE Warriors 2 would be framed similar to FE Heroes, except with worlds quite literally blending together following the death of the Chaos dragon in FE Warriors. This would allow for iconic maps from across the franchise to blend together. Namely, the world of Fodlan would receive new islands comprised of chunks of Tellius, Elibe, Magvel, and Archanea.

Darios, having survived his "death" in FEW 1 and receiving a fragment of Velezark's power, becomes our new central lord and journeys to the combined world to set things right and redeem himself. Upon arriving, he discovers that the ongoing war in Fodlan has also engulfed its new neighbors, with Edelgard, Camus, Berkut, Zephiel, Zelgius, and Lyon each individually declaring war. In the background, a greater threat looms as the great war threatens to awaken Ashera from Lehran's medallion.

Boss-Only Characters:

Lyon/Formortis

Death Knight

Zephiel

Nemesis

Ashera

Velezark (Legacy Mode)

Story

Legacy Mode - old History mode maps from FE Warriors 1, comprised of the non canon FE Warriors 1 map sets. Rowan, Lianna, and any FE Warriors 1 legacy characters not involved in the story of FE Warriors 2 can be unlocked here.

History Mode - new History mode maps with recycled Story mode tiles and new characters and other rewards to unlock

Paralogues - Difficult boss challenges that require you to use a specific character, fighting alongside or against the reward character(s).

Endless - Randomized horde mode with rewards at certain milestones and a leaderboard. Excellent for material farming. Rewards are kept upon eventual and inevitable defeat.

I don't know about story yet, but I know the focus games I'd be going with are Tellius, Three Houses, and Echoes. All FE Warriors 1 characters would return as well, of course (and besides, I gotta have my Freddy Bear again! <3).

Tellius cast: Ike (RD by default, but PoR look would be unlockable through history mode, and he'd have a unique moveset), Elincia (new sword Pegasus moveset), Titania (new axe cavalry moveset, as I can't picture her using Frederick's brutal ass moves), Soren (unique wind magic set), Micaiah (Linde clone), Black Knight/Zelgius (Zelgius form unlocked in History mode, he'd be wearing his red armor unlike in Heroes. New armored sword moveset), Shinon (Takumi clone), Oscar (need a lancer in there, and a lance cavalry at all)

Three Houses cast: Byleth (both genders, maybe a partial Ike clone), Edelgard (new axe infantry moveset), Claude (unique bow moveset), Dimitri (Oboro clone), Hilda (new axe flier moveset), Hubert (Soren clone), Sylvain (another lance cavalry, Oscar clone), Seteth (new lance wyvern moveset)

Echoes cast: Alm (unique or Ike clone, could go either way I guess), Celica (as is in Warriors 1), Lukas (Oboro/Dimitri clone), Gray (Ike clone), Mae (Soren clone), Boey (Soren clone), Faye (Sakura clone maybe?), Genny (unique healer and magic moveset)

I could've also picked Sacred Stones as a focus game, but Echoes is more recent and all. But I'd totally throw Ephraim and Eirika in as history mode unlocks ala Lyn and Celica in the first game. Eliwood, Roy, and/or Hector could possibly join Lyn there too. Oh, and playable Darios YES.

Also, I'd expand history mode with lots more battles. Hyrule Warriors's adventure mode is so much grander than the current history mode.

I didn't mind the original world, so I'd be happy if we returned to there (or another one).

Story: Our Villain has heard of powerful swords across the lands, and he/she wants to collect them all, harness their power, and take over Our Hero's country.  Several famous sword users have already been captured, so those close to them hop over and help Our Heroes retrieve their buddies.  In order:

- Tiki's unhappy that Mar-Mar vanished, and wants him back.
- Celica and Clive are sent to retrieve Alm - the former wants to see her friend, and the latter absolutely doesn't want to lead the Deliverance again.
- Quan is FURIOUS that both Sigurd and Eldigan were kidnapped.  I mean, was his lance not good enough or something?
- Hector's not leaving without Eliwood (and maybe Lyn).
- Someone kidnapped Eirika, and Ephraim is going to make that SOB pay.
- Soren's investigating Ike's whereabouts. Mist is worried about her brother.
- Frederick is bent on finding his lord and liege, while Robin's more interested in finding out why Chrom was targeted.
- Azura needs Corrin's Yato (YES, THE ACTUAL SWORD) , or the entire story of Fates falls apart.  Somehow.  Uh, don't ask.
- Someone stole Byleth away, and Jeralt is having none of that.
- Leif and Roy, upon learning that they're the only ones that haven't been taken, join the fray to help get everyone else back.

Have some other characters join depending on the story route/circumstances (one of the Three Houses leaders joins up, while the other two ally with the enemy or stuff like that).  Probably wouldn't be the best plot, but hey, half the time the plot's there to justify why we're playing a glorified game of chess.

Do you mean personal wants or realistic idea? Realistically, as far as the story mode is concerned I believe it will more or less be like FEW1 with very basic storytelling (Heroes from other worlds comes together to help the new OC character/s defeat the big bad and an evil dragon) and designed as a tutorial of sorts. The other modes will be where the real challenges are at and I believe the support conversations will be just as good if not better than FEW1.

As for the roster I believe the cast from last game will be returning but as for newcomers I see characters from Three Houses and even Heroes being the main stars this time but there will also be the main lords from the older games since I think this time IS will at least try to please all their fans. As for the Three Houses characters they will probably base their outfit and personality on their pre-timeskip selves but there will be an option to unlock their post-timskip outfits in some shape or form. So I can see the roster looking like this.

Returning

FEW1- Rowan/Lianna/Darios (Sword), Anna (Bow)

Shadow Dragon- Marth (Sword), Caeda (Lance), Tiki (Dragonstone), Navarre (Sword), Linde (Magic), Minerva (Axe)

Awakening- Chrom/Lucina (Sword), Robin/Tharja (Magic), Lissa (Axe), Frederick (Axe), Cordelia (Lance), Owain (Sword), Olivia (Sword)

Fates- Corrin (Sword), Azura (Lance), Xander (Sword), Camilla (Axe), Leo/Elise (Magic), Ryoma (Sword), Hinoka (Lance), Takumi/Sakura/Niles (Bow), Oboro (Lance)

Blazing Sword- Lyn (Sword)

Echoes- Celica (Sword)

Newcomers

FEW2- 1-3 new OC characters

Three Houses- Blyeth (Sword), Edelgard (Axe), Hubert (Magic), Dimitri (Lance), Dedue (Axe), Claude (Bow), Hilda (Axe) maybe Sothis ??? (maybe using dragonstones since Heroes considers her a dragon) Note: I have not finished any of the routes for this game yet so I am basically going off of what I know so far and seems plausible

Heroes- Alfonse (Sword), Sharena (Lance), Anna (Axe), Fjorm (Lance), Eir (Sword but her moveset will revolve around using it as a dagger), Veronica (Magic) Reinhardt (Magic)

Tellius- Ike (Sword) for Base Game with Micaiah (Magic), Elincia (Sword) and Black Knight (Sword) as a DLC pack

Elibe- Roy (Sword) for Base Game and with Hector (Axe), Eliwood (Sword) and Lilina(Magic) as a DLC pack

Echoes- Alm (Sword)

So around 20 new characters which is about the same as FEW1 had for base roster. And yes, realistically outside of Reinhardt for memes I don't think anyone from Jugdral would be repped for FEW2 unless there was a remake happening around the same time. I also think Sacred Stones would be skipped over but if not then I only see Eirika and Ephraim coming.

Personal Wants (that is most likely not going to happen)

Shadow Dragon- Merric (Magic), Draug (Sword), Gordin (Bow), Ogma (Sword), Cain (Sword), Abel (Lance), Palla/Catria/Est (Lance), Camus (Lance)

Echoes- Boey/Mae/Delthea (Magic), Saber/Gray (Sword), Lukas (Lance)

Sacred Stones- L'Arachel (Magic), Innes (Bow), Tana (Lance), Joshua (Sword)

New Bosses

FEW2- New OC villain, new OC final boss dragon

Tellius- Black Knight (Sword)

Elibe- Narcian (Axe)

Heroes- Surtr (Axe)

Three Houses- Death Knight (Lance)

As for other modes...I am not sure. History mode would probably come back and they might add 1-2 new modes but otherwise I don't have much to say about it.

So from my design above, the game would have the following movesets (new movesets underlined).

I've also made some changes to my list above. I removed Dorothea, Mercedes, Dedue, and some of the more overtly evil characters (Death Knight, Nemesis, Zephiel, and Lyon).

I added Bernadetta, who is both very popular and an excellent candidate the bow cavalry moveset.

I also added Annette, who presents a unique opportunity for an axe dancer moveset. I get that isn't necessarily her best role in 3 Houses, but it's a pretty good approximation of her personality and Rally-centric role.

Ingrid was added to provide a female option for lance cavalry. I get that Pegasus Rider/Falcon Knight is her canon class, but she has equivalent strengths in riding, and we already have a saturation of lance fliers.

Nolan was added since he's as good of an axe infantry candidate as anyone else, to be frank, and he comes with a unique weapon (plus I like Nolan).

Swords:

Warriors Sword: Darios, Rowan, Lianna

Heavy Sword: Chrom, Lucina, Ike, Alm

Fencer Sword: Marth, Celica, Rhea, Eirika

Myrmidon: Lyn, Navarre

Elemental Sword: Ryoma, Owain, Roy

Dragon Sword: Corrin

Whip Sword: Byleth

Dancer: Olivia

Cavalry Sword: Xander, Sigurd

Flying Sword: Elincia, Marianne

Armored Sword: Zelgius

Dancer: Olivia

Lances:

Lance Lord: Dimitri, Ephraim

Infantry Lance: Oboro

Dancer: Azura

Cavalry Lance: Ingrid, Camus, Berkut

Flying Lance: Hinoka, Caeda, Cordelia, Cormag

Axes:

Infantry Axe: Lyssa, Hilda, Nolan

Dancer: Annette

Cavalry Axe: Frederick, Titania

Flying Axe: Minerva, Camilla

Armored Axe: Edelgard, Hector

Bow:

Infantry: Takumi, Sakura, Niles, Anna

Cavalry Bow: Bernadetta

Flying Bow: Claude

Dagger:

Dagger: Sothe, Jaffar

Magic:

Dark Mage: Robin, Tharja, Hubert

Light Mage: Linde, Micaiah

Fire Mage: Lilina, Arvis

Wind Mage: Merric, Lewyn

Cavalry Mage: Leo, Elise, Reinhardt

Transform:

Manakete: Tiki

Dragon: Nasir, Ninian

Beast: Ranulf

Bird: Tibarn, Naesala

(15 total new movesets, compared to 20 FEW1 movesets. That should be realistic enough).

I've already posted a similar casting roll on another thread but I'll post it here regardless simplified.

Story/Cast

Three Houses/Elibe/Echoes have the highest chance getting their main reps in due to popularity as well as Lyn & Celica being in the first game. Although Echoes may have smaller new reps compared to the others. Tellius is also likely due to how popular Ike, his group & Black Knight are (Heroes shows that well). Sacred Stones would probably at least add Ephraim and Eirika which should be realistically enough. Same for Jugdral with Sigurd and Arvis but they have lower chances compared. I could be wrong.

As for story, I do want them to be more daring with it. They could either implement a 3 Houses storytelling or 'faction' story telling where whichever side you choose will determine the victor. Then once you achieve all 3 faction endings, you will unlock a path that leads to the true ending. But how you may ask? Byleth's/Sothis' Divine Pulse. It may sound lazy but this is one of my favourite features in Warriors Orochi 3 storytelling where you can prevent the deaths/events from happening by changing the past. It encourages replayability to unlock characters and new paths.

Story could either focus on more threats by Velezark being revived or in a new form trying to destroy Aytolis (Rowan/Lianna's kingdom) but rather than getting the villains, he'll try to manipulate heroes from different world to fight each other in order to weaken the alliance. You would have a global scale war and as the Aytolis kingdom, you have to decide which group of factions to choose from. Something like this:

Faction A - Black Eagles, Greil Mercenaries/Ike's gang, Nohr, Grima, Arvis, Zephiel & Alm's forces.

Faction B - Blue Lions, Blazing Blade Elibe, Hoshido, Daein/Black Knight/Micaiah/Dawn Brigade, Sigurd's & Celica's forces

Faction C - Golden Deer, Corrin's team, Marth's team, Awakening team, Roy's team, Eirika & Ephraim forces & Heroes faction (Fjorm/Veronica)

Yes I know this is literally a copy of Battle of Eagle & Lion/Gronnel Field but the idea of having three factions from different games/groups facing each other would work superbly wonder for a grand battle here in Warriors. Byleth vs Ike mercenary duel, Black Knight vs Death Knight, the debate of Edelgard's ideals against other leaders/heroes, etc so on. The clash of ideals would work wonders in this.

Once the battle is done, you'll get the faction's victory ending and then the "Revelation" phase would happen where everyone takes down the true mastermind Velezark.

I also do hope Rowan & Lianna get some kind of class moveset change when they get promoted but that's just me.

Oh boy, this is something I've always wanted to talk about. Let's see here...

Story

I don't actually have a specific plot in mind, but I'll detail some things I'd like to see. The story would primarily be focused on characters and content from Three Houses, Blazing Blade, and Shadows of Valentia, with some minor roles for the previous trio of games (Awakening, Fates, Shadow Dragon). It would take place in a different world from Aytolis, starring a new cast. The plot doesn't need to be too complex, and I would rather it be character-focused than anything else. Perhaps our heroes are chasing their world's Gharnef-archetype through various other worlds, collecting each world's heroes along the way.

From the previous game, a small handful of veteran characters appear during the main story; Marth, Chrom, Robin, Lucina, Corrin, Ryoma, and Xander in minor roles, with Lyn and Celica in more prominent roles. All other veteran characters only appear in (and are unlocked within) History Mode.

Classes

Before I get into characters, I wanna talk about this mechanic. It seems to me that two of the biggest gripes with the previous game, besides the chosen representative titles, was A) an overabundance of sword-wielding characters and B) a large number of shared movesets. With this, I hope to kill two birds with one stone.

Movesets are now "classes", and each character has two. Characters unlock their secondary class by using a Second Seal, just like how they promote with a Master Seal. Shared movesets are the same between characters, though Warrior Specials, Dual Specials, and Awakening Finishers are unique.

Some characters have a third class they get via DLC.

Previous Game's Classes

For the sake of clarity, here were the previous game's movesets, translated into my class system:

  • Sword Lord (Rowan, Lianna, Darios): An experienced swordfighter of noble birth.
  • Lodestar (Marth, Celica): A refined master of swordplay with a quick, elegant style that strikes with the tip of the blade.
  • Mercenary (Chrom, Lucina): A well-balanced, if somewhat crude, swordfighter with broad, heavy swings of their blade.
  • Myrmidon (Lyn, Navarre): A very swift swordfighter who prioritizes unseeable movements and lightning-fast slashes.
  • Samurai (Ryoma, Owain): A precise master of the sword who makes every swing count.
  • Nohr Prince(ss) (Corrin): A noble of mixed ancestry who combines powerful swordplay with draconic power. Exclusive to Corrin.
  • Dancer (Olivia): A graceful dancer armed with a sword. Can bolster the morale of nearby allies.
  • Sword Cavalier (Xander): A swordfighter who rides atop a horse. Able to move quickly and strike hard.
  • Soldier (Oboro): A master of the lance who balances long-reaching offense with solid defense.
  • Pegasus Knight (Cordelia, Hinoka, Caeda): A lance-wielder riding a flying horse. Fast and precise.
  • Songstress (Azura): A songstress who wields a lance as well as powerful music. Can bolster the morale of nearby allies. Exclusive to Azura.
  • War Cleric (Lissa): An axe fighter who mixes magical staves into their combat for both offense and support.
  • Great Knight (Frederick): An armored axe fighter atop a heavy steed. Powerful and durable, but slower than other cavalry.
  • Axe Wyvern (Camilla, Minerva): An axe fighter riding atop a mighty wyvern. Boasts incredible strength.
  • Archer (Takumi, Sakura, Anna, Niles): A balanced bow master who shoots down all in their path.
  • Mage (Robin, Tharja, Validar, Iago, Gharnef): A master of anima magic suited for breaking through sturdy defenses.
  • Light Mage (Linde): A holy mage with an emphasis on light magic and support.
  • Mage Knight (Leo, Elise): A mage on horseback who fights with potent black magic.
  • Young Manakete (Tiki): A young manakete armed with a dragonstone. Has a strange, childish fighting style but can transform.

New Classes

These are the new classes (and thus, new movesets) that would be available. Which characters use which will be covered later, though some are obvious.

Base Game

  • Vanguard: A frontline mercenary armed with a powerful, heavy sword. Exclusive to Ike.
  • Conqueror: A left-handed swordplay style mastered by one who will unite a continent. Exclusive to Alm.
  • Professor: A mercenary equipped with a special sword that can extend its reach near-infinitely. Exclusive to Byleth.
  • Lance Lord: A noble armed with a lance. Powerful and skilled.
  • Lance Cavalier: A lance fighter atop a steed. Strikes foes with a long reach.
  • Lance Armor: A heavy, armored class equipped with a lance. Slow, but boasts impregnable defenses.
  • Fighter: An axe fighter who crushes foes with wild, heavy swings.
  • Axe Armor: A heavy, armored class equipped with an axe. Takes heavy blows and retaliates in kind.
  • Axe Armor Lord: An armored axe fighter of noble birth who stands tall on the battlefield.
  • Outlaw: A swift thief armed with a bow who incorporates acrobatic skill into their style.
  • Priestess: A defensive archer who utilizes slower, more graceful movements, and mixes in magic staves.
  • Bow Knight: An archer on horseback who never misses their mark.
  • Bow Wyvern: An archer riding atop a wyvern who rains arrows down from above.
  • Dark Mage: A mage with an emphasis on sinister dark magic.
  • Tome Troubador: A mounted mage who uses both offensive and support magic and staves.
  • Thief: A quick, stealthy agent armed with a dagger, specialized for slipping past enemy lines.
  • Maid/Butler: A diligent servant who supports their liege with a sharp dagger and magic staves.
  • Brawler: An up-front fighter who punches opponents into submission with gauntlets.

DLC-Exclusive Classes (Some of these may seem odd, but don't worry)

  • Sword Pegasus: A Pegasus Knight who favors the sword over the lance. Exclusive to Nino.
  • Lance Wyvern: A lance fighter riding a mighty wyvern. Spears foes from above. Exclusive to Seteth.
  • Bride: A blessed woman with a bow. Exclusive to Lucina.
  • Saint: A Valentian healer armed with light magic and phantom soldiers. Exclusive to Genny.
  • Witch: A woman cursed with terrifying magic... or dressed up like one. Exclusive to Clair.
  • Mechanist: A warrior atop a strange puppet who fights with daggers. Exclusive to Corrin.
  • Dread Fighter: A ghastly ninja who strikes hard with daggers and vanishes. Exclusive to Byleth.
  • Dancer Manakete: An elegant dancer who fights with a stone and can become a dragon. Can bolster the morale of nearby allies. Exclusive to Ninian.

To be clear, while each class normally only uses one weapon, the Priestess, Tome Troubador, Saint, and Maid/Butler classes would utilize certain staff effects (such as Freeze, Gravity, ect) in their movesets. There's already precedent for this with Lissa's War Cleric moveset, so it should be fine.

Characters

Returning Characters

First things first, every character from the previous game returns (as is tradition with Warriors). Some characters' primary moveset or perf weapon have changed, however. Those will be underlined to stand out. Primary classes' perf weapons would be available in-game by default, while secondary perf weapons would be in the DLC packs. History Mode

As with the previous game, there are History Mode maps. Some minor adjustments include more maps that restrict you to using specific characters (in addition to maps that restrict you to fairly-broad categories), some additional mission types (obviously), and a lot more character unlocks specific to this mode.

The main story characters, Marth, Chrom, Robin, Lucina, Corrin, Ryoma, Xander, Lyn, Celica, and all new Shadows of Valentia,  Blazing Sword, and Three Houses characters are unlocked during the story. Everybody else is from here. Anna is unlocked the same way as last time.

Shadows of Valentia Map

  • Based on the battle at the border with Berkut's forces
  • Contains perf weapons and scrolls for all Shadows of Valentia characters
  • Also where you unlock Camilla, Sakura, Caeda, Lissa, and Draug, their perf weapons, and scrolls

Blazing Sword Map

  • Based on the battle with Ursula
  • Contains perf weapons and scrolls for all Blazing Sword characters
  • Also where you unlock Elise, Takumi, Navarre, Frederick, and Inigo, their perf weapons, and scrolls

Three Houses Map

  • Based on the battle at Gronder Field
  • Contains perf weapons and scrolls for all Three Houses characters
  • Also where you unlock Leo, Hinoka, Linde, Owain, and Felicia, their perf weapons, and scrolls

Binding Blade Map

  • Based on a map from Binding Blade, I haven't decided which map
  • Where you unlock Roy, his perf weapon, and scroll
  • Also where you unlock Oboro, Tiki, Cordelia, and Severa, their perf weapons, and scrolls

Radiance Map

  • Based on a map from Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn, I haven't decided which map
  • Where you unlock Ike, his perf weapon, and scroll
  • Also where you unlock Niles, Minerva, Olivia, and Jagen, their perf weapons, and scrolls

Warriors 1 Map

  • Based on the map where you "rescue" Darios
  • Where you unlock Rowan, Lianna, their perf weapons, and scrolls
  • Also where you unlock Azura, Tharja, and Kaze, their perf weapons, and scrolls

DLC and Updates

Free Update

  • Adds a new History Mode map, the Villain Challenge
    • This map is similar to the Hero Challenge map from the first game
    • The "story" is that you're leading the villains to victory over their respective heroes
    • This is where you get to unlock Darios, Gharnef, Iago, Validar, Berkut, Ursula, Death Knight, and whatever new villain we get in the story, along with their perf weapons and scrolls
    • You can also get the secondary perf weapons and scrolls for the main story characters, Marth, Chrom, Robin, Lucina, Corrin, Ryoma, Xander, and Anna here.

Shadows of Valentia Pack

  • Adds new characters Genny and Mathilda
  • Adds Alm's Lance Cavalier class and Clair's Witch class
  • Adds three new History Mode maps where you may unlock perf weapons and scrolls for the new characters, as well as secondary perf weapons and scrolls for all Shadows of Valentia characters

Blazing Sword Pack

  • Adds new characters Ninian and Raven
  • Adds Lyn's Thief class and Nino's Sword Pegasus class
  • Adds three new History Mode maps where you may unlock perf weapons and scrolls for the new characters, as well as secondary perf weapons and scrolls for all Blazing Sword characters

Three Houses Pack

  • Adds new characters Seteth and Flayn
  • Adds Byleth's Dread Fighter class and Edelgard's Dark Mage class
  • Adds three new History Mode maps where you may unlock perf weapons and scrolls for the new characters, as well as secondary perf weapons and scrolls for all Three Houses characters

Warriors 1 Pack

  • Adds Anna's Thief class, Lucina's Bride class, and Corrin's Mechanist class
  • Adds three new History Mode maps based on Awakening, Fates, and Shadow Dragon respectively, where you may unlock secondary perf weapons and scrolls for all remaining characters.

As you can see, the three primary packs each add two new characters and two wholly new classes (one of which is on a base game character, one of which is on a DLC character), while the Warriors 1 pack just adds two new classes.

Other Stuff

All costumes from the previous game are available still, plus some new ones like pre-timeskip designs for Three Houses characters, Fates costumes for Owain, Inigo, and Severa, ect.

All the stages from the previous game are used in History Mode, in addition to the new ones featured in FEW2's story.

While the villains would be made playable in the free update, they likely would not have supports or team dialogue with the heroic characters beyond a few exceptions. Their recruitment is not meant to be taken as canon.

The story mode has its own final boss, but Velezark can still be found in some History Mode maps. His battle strategy is a little different now; he'll use all of his old attacks during the first phase, and for the second phase start literally wielding giant weapons instead of only throwing them at you.

My ideal FEW2 would star Darios and his story would start with him fighting out of the FE world equal of hell to redeem himself and his bloodline.

After his escape he'd meet up with the Tellius, Three Houses and Jugdral casts, with the FEW1 characters being unlockables in History Mode but not in the main plot.

I believe an interview did say the devs were thinking of a redeemed Darios. But I personally hope they'll abandon the world of the first Warriors game altogether. Its such a terribly designed world. We don't even know where Aytolis or Darius countries are on the map. I think much more can be gained by creating a better world than continuing that complete emptiness.

I think a "why not both" applies here.

Darios can be used as a new perspective lord to carry the twin's moveset into the new game, but his adventures would not be in the world of Aytolis or Gristonne, but rather a dimension-hopping Doctor Who-esque experience kicked off by what happened to him at the end of Warriors 1. The story could conclude with him returning home as a changed man.

That way, we have some continuity, we get to play this character that a large subset of Warriors players wanted playable, and we get to pick and choose a "greatest hits" list of FE maps from across the franchise.

Am I the only one who'd rather have slightly less characters, but each with a completely different moveset? I tried balancing the roster to see faces from every continent. There might be a couple odd choices here and there, such as Frederick or Jaffar, but I opted for playstyle, rather than sword units lords. At the end, there are 5 more characters than what the first game offered, but I think I narrowed down to a great amount.

The roster would boil down to something like this in my opinion

Archanea: Marth, Caeda, Tiki, Minerva

Valentia: Alm, Celica, DLC: Berkut

Jugdral: Sigurd, Arvis DLC: Julia, Reinhardt

Elibe: Roy, Hector, Lyn, DLC: Jaffar

Magvel: Ephraim

Tellius: Ike, Micaiah, Tibarn, DLC: Elincia, BK

Ylisse: Chrom, Lucina, Robin, Frederick, Tharja

Fates: Corrin, Azura, Camilla, Takumi

Fódlan: Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, DLC: Sothis

Warriors sequels don't cut content unless there is a change of engine.

The only real exceptions seem to be crossover characters (ie: Ryu Hyabusa was cut for the regular version of Warriors Orochi 4, brought back in Ultimate) and original characters (the two OC protagonists in DQ Heroes 1 were cut for 2).

Meaning that the entire core roster, except maybe Rowan and Lianna, would be playable in a sequel by franchise tradition.

I see, thanks for the info. As someone who has never played any Warriors game I didn't know that.

I'm surprised I didn't notice this topic until now honestly. Better late then never I suppose

Story:

I'll admit, while I didn't care very much about the lemon twins in the slightest, I did kind of like Darios. Since they left his fate rather ambiguous, I wouldn't mind a sequel focusing on him in another universe trying to get back to his own.

Roster:

Now for the section that I'm actually interested in. Warriors games never cuts characters, so it's probably safe to assume that everyone from the first game (including Lyn and Celica) will make a return, if not in the main story, then as History Mode unlocks.

I can see the three focus games for a sequel being Elibe, Tellius, and Three Houses. I already made a topic about which characters from Three Houses I can see being included in a sequel, so I'll just repeat what I said from there, but also add a few extra characters in the process, since there's no doubt that it will get the bulk of representation in a sequel.

Three Houses:

  • Byleth (Sword Infantry)
  • Edelgard (Axe Infantry)
  • Dimitri (Lance Infantry)
  • Claude (Bow Infantry)
  • Hubert (Tome Infantry)
  • Petra (Dagger Infantry)
  • Dedue (Axe Armor)
  • Ingrid (Lance Flier)
  • Hilda (Axe Infantry)
  • Lorenz (Lance Cavalry)
  • Seteth (Lance Flier)
  • Flayn (Tome Infantry)
  • Death Knight (Lance Cavalry, Villain)

Elibe (in addition to Lyn from the first game):

  • Roy (Sword Infantry)
  • Lilina (Tome Infantry)
  • Eliwood (Sword Cavalry)
  • Hector (Axe Armor)
  • Cecilia (Tome Cavalry)
  • Fae (Dragonstone Infantry)
  • Sue (Bow Cavalry)
  • Florina (Lance Flier)
  • Matthew (Dagger Infantry)
  • Ninian (Dragonstone Infantry)
  • Zephiel (Sword Armor, Villain)

Tellius:

  • Ike (Sword Infantry)
  • Soren (Tome Infantry)
  • Titania (Axe Cavalry)
  • Mist (Sword Cavalry)
  • Shinon (Bow Infantry)
  • Elincia (Sword Flier)
  • Micaiah (Tome Infantry)
  • Sothe (Dagger Infantry)
  • Ranulf (Beast Infantry)
  • Tibarn (Beast Flier)
  • Black Knight (Sword Armor, Villain)

Bonus Characters:

  • Alm (Sword Infantry)
  • Berkut (Lance Cavalry)
  • Eirika (Sword Infantry)
  • Ephraim (Lance Infantry)

DLC Pack 1:

  • Bernadetta (Bow Cavalry)
  • Felix (Sword Infantry)
  • Lysithea (Tome Infantry)

DLC Pack 2:

  • Rutger (Sword Infantry)
  • Nino (Tome Infantry)
  • Jaffar (Dagger Infantry)

DLC Pack 3:

  • Mia (Sword Infantry)
  • Nephenee (Lance Infantry)
  • Jill (Axe Flier)

It occurs to me that Three Houses is built on the Warriors engine.

Now, not being a developer myself, I don't know exactly how easy that makes assets to transfer over. I also don't know how much of Warriors was finished before Three Houses began development in earnest on this engine.

However, optimistically speaking, could it be that there is a best case scenario in which Three Houses' already developed art assets, animations, mechanics, and maps could be adapted into a Warriors sequel with relatively minimal work?

In this best case scenario, Warriors 2 could be the entire playable cast of Three Houses (or at least those deemed worthy of adding animations to their assets), with the entire playable roster of Warriors 1, and then new characters from prior games added in selectively.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if we got a lot of Three Houses characters just from ease of reusing assets

Also, I have another random thought.

Perhaps Warriors would be the game where a player avatar is the most welcome?

Maybe it would be a little difficult to pull off, but it's also the least story driven game and the one where power fantasy and wish fulfillment would be at its highest.

Just add male/female, hair, name, and moveset options. Allow this character to reclass to any other character's moveset  (except for Dragon/Beaststone) in Preparation. And they would have one prf weapon of each type - sword, axe, lance, bow, tome, and dagger.

I'd agree to this. Mainline Musou has already done this in Empires games, and the 3DS Samurai Warriors too (wherein they start with one of two unique movesets, but bonding with others lets you use their weapon type).

And being a spinoff, nobody should be so critical of an avatar.

Split paths in the story mode with an avatar aren't impossible as an aside. Considering HW had its triple-two chapter split and Lana, the heroic OC, only went into one path. Or, they could mimic the 3DS Samurai Warriors, where the avatar freely hops from one group to another for Part 1 (Parts 2 & 3 are all Oda & Toyotomi, Part 4 lets you pick either Western Army (Yukimura) or Eastern Army (Ieyasu)).

Story

Lets not kid ourselves. An excuse plot will do the trick. However the excuse plot should be told very competently and be used as an excuse to create all sorts of interesting situations. I would heavily mirror my ideal Fe Warriors after Warriors Orochi. A creepy dragon lord is fusing space and time and so all the continents are merged into one. I do think it would be important not to continue with the story of the original warriors since that's a lost cause. The twins and Darious could return as guest characters but nothing will ever make Aytolis an interesting world.

Storymode:

I would craft a grand story mode by the name of Emblem Mode. The main gimmick is that you don't get a chronological set of stages to complete but instead you get a big sandbox to play around in. As in Gaiden/Echoes your lord starts out with a small army in a giant world map. On this world maps are many enemy armies, castles and paralouges that you may visit whenever you want.

The goal of each chapter is too take over the main keep of the province your lord is currently finding himself in. At the start this is an impossible task so you must first visit other locations to build your army. You start out small but are able to recruit more units in various ways. Some join you in missions that you get on the way to the castle and others are found in paralogues where they are either cornered by the enemy faction, held captive by bandits or must be beaten into submission.

You could also recruit some units from the enemy faction, as is the norm in Fire Emblem.

- Some characters are brainwashed and defeating them will be enough to make them join.
- A character like Saber might fight for the enemy because he's a mercenary. You may fight and kill him but if you have the gold you can buy Saber's loyalty. Alternatively if you already recruited Celica he joins for free to protect the lass.
- Characters like Raigh and Takumi might fight for the villains and help guard the capitol city you must take over. If you advance then you must fight them. However they only fight for the enemy because Sakura and Lugh are being held hostage in a nearby castle. If you take that castle and free their siblings then Raigh and Takumi will defect to your side.
- Makalov fights against you because he's in debt to the enemy. If you approach him with Naesalla it turns out Makalov's debt to the Raven Mafia is far more substantial and so he's forced to pay off his debt to Naesalla by joining your army.

Permadeath might be a factor here. If you defeat Takumi or Saber they are gone for good, but if you rescue Sakura or pay Saber's bill they will survive for the rest of the story.

Like Echoes you would also have multiple army to give you incentive to use more units, as well as to ensure most characters get some time in the spotlight. You move these armies across the maps, taking castles, freeing captives, recruiting more units until they are strong enough to take on the leaders of the region. At the end the armies unite for one giant battle. The armies would have a trio of core characters to drive the cutscenes while additional characters might appear if warranted. The core team would consist of the primary lord, a strategist and a miscellaneous character that's popular enough to deserve some extra screentime. For example Elincia could lead an army as a lord, her strategist could be Claude and the miscellaneous character could be the ever popular Nino. Or Hector as a main lord with Roy as his strategist and Lysithea as the miscellaneous third member.

New characters

As many as possible. Go full Attack of the Clones and design movesets for a class rather than a character. Fire Emblem has always dealt heavily in classes and FE Warriors should do so too. In order to help differentiate characters they should have a gimmick. Lugh might have healing items in the form of baked tarts while Owain might randomly shout ''THREE HOUSES!'' and unleash a powerful attack.

Some characters would have a unique moveset though. A character like Hector could have a unique fighting style centered around his heavy armor as well as lightning attacks due to having Armads. The Black Knight too could fight uniquely with his sword beams or warping, or Claude the bow wielding Wyvren knight. Many character lend themselves to unique movesets but there's not really a reason why Gordin and Ashe should fight all that differently.  As a rule they could make the lords and primarily villains have unique moves while the minor characters will be sorted into a class system.

While technically extremely unlikely it would be best if FE Warriors took a page out of Smash's book and go ''Everyone is here!''

And if it gives him some supports with Naesalla then yeah sure. He should join.

I've made it no secret that I hate Makalov with a passion, so I'd be really annoyed Makalov got in a Fire Emblem Warriors 2 over someone like Jill, Zihark, Boyd, etc.
