Counterfeit

Recommended Posts

So, back in the GBA era I never got to play the first American-released FE, just wondering if this was a highly counterfeited game like Pokemon games are. Just a few months ago, I bought a used copy of Fire Red off of GameStop’s website and it was a half-way decent looking bootleg copy. (Sorry if I have typos and whatnot, im on my phone currently)

As someone who messes around with selling used games my answer is.

Moderately.

If you have a picture I can take a look at it.

One of the easiest ways to tell if a GBA game is fake is to see if there is an imprint on the sticker somewhere on it, it's usually 2-3 numbers long. Also if you take your cartridge and look up inside it you can see the Nintendo logo, if it's not there than it's a bootleg.

A legit cartridge should show a crossed sword and axe on an off-white background, and the product ID for the English-language, US region version should read AGB-AE7E-USA.

I've seen some counterfeits where that was not the case.
