What is your favorite type of unit/theme?

Do you have a favorite type of unit? Player Phase, Enemy Phase armor units, Firesweep flying archers, Dancers/Singers, etc...
Or do you play with a non-game-mechanic theme like only using Awakening characters or only using Camilla Emblem?

My favorite type of units are Wings of Mercy Dancers/Singers. As of this moment, I have all 20 of them. Will be 25 when the new Focus hits.

My second favorites are Firesweep colorless flying archers.

My third favorite are basically any ranged Player Phase units with a consistent movement of 2 or more (so armor archers are good since they have Firesweep; mage armors not so much), with a preference for fliers.

My least favorite type of units are Player Phase melee infantry and Player Phase melee armor.

Generally my favorite type of unit, or at least the one I use the most, are Enemy Phase tanks specializing heavily in one form of bulk. The best example of this I can give is my use of +Atk -Res Chrom, who when next to his good pal M!Corrin gets +23/10/23/10 Combat Buffs total, as well as my building of 3 separate EP Infantry Lance units to +10, all typically supported by one of a few supportive defensive units I own such as the combo of Kaden + Seth Tactics play, or New Year Corrin and triple stacked Spur Def/Res.

Close follow-up, which honestly I think is a sign of influence from you yourself @XRay, is player phase ranged nukes. This is all inclusive, so Bladetomes, Firesweep, Special Spiral, Desperation 4, you name it and at least one of my most used units runs it.

Honorable mention to healers. If I was a unit in FEH, I'd be a healer, or at least an off-healer with some sort of racist Mend or maybe uber BoL. Oh, and dancers are neat to, if not nearly required for having an easy time nowadays...

Do you have a passion for dancing IRL or something?

Not really. My dancing skills are basic at best. My singing is quite horrible.

I love Dancers/Singers because they are the workhorse of a Player Phase team. They are not super flashy nor deal the most damage, but they make Player Phase play style possible.

I like to use Desperation/reverse Desperation nukes, Special Spiral Ophelia, units with guaranteed followups on player phase and dancers. I guess I would like Firesweep archers, but I've never pulled Faye, or made a serious effort to get her.

Super tanks are easily the most fun units to use.

I hope we eventually get a Distant Guard Sacred Seal so my Fae can be even more ridiculous than she already is.

This basically. I love tanks! Especially tanky horses. Which is why I love that Frederick and Silas, two of my favorite FE characters, have high Def and good Atk stats. 😄

Well..I don't really have a ''main favorite''. I just like to make units overpowered at their main job and..decent at best in any other scenario.

Other than this, my passion would be for infantry tankers (that's why Lukas is my favorite infantry unit, *cof*),''brave'' units (not necessarily units with brave weapons, just units who can double attack before anything) with 0 def/res and absurd types of builds (like making Reinhardt into a CC Tank).

I get the most satisfaction from sweeping a map without taking a single hit, and indeed without losing a single hitpoint by any means (so that rules out Desperation shenanigans). That either means one-shots, or special weapons like Firesweep or those reverse Desperation tomes. Probably picked up from tactical games other than FE where taking damage is much more of a bigger deal.

If I had to narrow it down I'd say my favorite type of unit is mixed phase bruisers. I love not being restricted to either phase and that said units have enough power and sustain to clear hordes of enemies by themselves. Hence my love for solo strats and giving Aether to practically every unit I want to perform the mixed phase role.

I'm not the biggest fan of Player Phase melee units, I always feel like they're too vulnerable after getting a kill and more often than not it is a pain to get them out of danger.

Gameplay-wise, I like mixed bulk EP units, especially infantry dragons (my 10+ merge, +8 dragonflower M!Kana is easily my best unit, especially since he's on a team with original Ninian, Male Fallen Robin, and his grandpapa Garon. Garon's getting old, though, and is having trouble keeping up with the young'uns, so I'm looking forward to introducing the energetic little guy to Sothis. For now, though, since Garon has DC, he makes all the scary green Naga tome wielders go away.) But I've also found I like using beast units on the whole, especially beast cavs (working on a team of these; just need Lethe for red coverage, or some new red beast cav) and birds (Reyson is great and my Naesala (who I gave Galeforce to) loves moving 3 times a turn with Leanne's help.)

Ultimately, though, I get most excited about characters I like, especially if they make gameplay easy (like Legendary Hrid. He's one of my most valuable units on my thrown-together light season AR team, and I haven't even fully built him.)

Judging by HM, it doesn't seem like I have a preference for anything aside from dancers and healers but I wouldn't say those are my favorites. Even player phase melee units see quite some use.

I guess if I absolutely have to pick, it'd be nukes who excell at dealing huge burst damage with their specials or self sustaining cockroaches who just won't go down. Oh, I also really like those dual phase brave weapons. Nothing like a big middle finger at anything that doesn't have firesweep/hard bearings.

Powerful tanks of one attack type who turn to utter glass against the other. Physical, especially; it's telling that even my strongest nuke initiates with 49 defence... Really, in general, I'm an EP specialist. It shows.

I like units who have a ridiculously high and/or comically poor stat somewhere, no matter where it is. A couple of my favourite units include a 5-resistance Bartre who sees some use in AA, which always feels like playing with fire, and a 32-attack/45-defence Gordin who, unsurprisingly, is yet to make a competitive appearance.

And I like fliers a lot, with their absurd mobility (boosted by skills), even if I don't have a truly marquee unit in that type so far.

The only units I don't like are, well... there's this 40/35/35/25/20 statspread that seemed to be on pretty much every unit in 2018, and I'm thoroughly sick of it by now. If you're going to be a PP specialist, excel somewhere.

edit: and, yeah, fuck using armour voluntarily ever

I generally like enemy phase tanks. Not armor because of their low movement and prohibitive, most 5 star exclusive status. But characters like Michalis, Lukas, etc. really appeal to me. I'll usually pair them with some support and player phase nukes. Michalis pairs with Aversa and Catria. I use Lukas with Lon'qu and Lewyn.

I enjoy units that succeed in the enemy phase. I hate armor movement, but I have myself in constant reliance to them. I wish I enjoyed flying units more in FEH, particularly because I enjoy them in regular FE. Daggers and Wrathful/Dazzling staff units are actually some of my favorite weapons, to my surprise, because of how fun they are to chip away at enemies. Cavalry would, by process of elimination, be my favorite unit movement type.

I like to use Galeforce units and solve maps as fast as possible with their help.

Currently having 20 Galeforce units, all of them with at least 1 player phase kit.

Using GF in every mode, only AR gives me a hard time because I cant decide what other teams to build besides my main (Brave Roy, OG Cordelia and dancers).

Are you talking about OG Fae or Winter Fae? (Still not sure which tank to build)

Winter Fae.

My current setup puts her at 59/58/32/53/61 or 59/56/35/53/61 on enemy phase against ranged opponents before buffs and Mythic bonuses and 69/70/44/65/83 or 69/68/47/75/73 with Legendary Eliwood's buffs and Mythic bonuses.

Ok, can't beat that with OG Fae (of course).

Especially since I don't have mythics besides my two Eir and no L!Eliwood.

Sounds hard to kill, even with effective damage.
