Mercedes actually has it as an enemy in CF

I guess the relic was kept in Kingdom capital, and was only taken by imperial force when they looted it in anti-empire routes

Since in CF empire never reach the city until final chapter, the relic was kept safe there.

The Death Knight crave death above all else, regardless if it's upon his enemies or himself. The rafail gem would get in the way of that pleasure, hence why he refuse to equip it.

The reason he give the relic to Mercedes is to attempt to protect her from himself, as they could most likely clash as enemies. But it's no longuer necessary if they are both on the same side (and especially with the empire having the advantage).

This does make it sound like Abyss is just a dungeon though. Since we're getting new characters I hope it's not, but with how underwhelming the DLC has been so far...

So we already have the datamined information on the DLC classes huh. That's interesting! As for my thoughts...

So it's looking like Trickster, War Monk, Dark Flier and Mage Knight are the DLC classes. Personally would have preferred Malig Knight over Dark Flier just so everyone would have access to a flying magic class but what can you do. Really appreciate the easy requirements needed to jump into these classes assuming these are all advanced classes. Will probably start wondering who I might want to try to put into these classes.

For Trickster I guess Lysithea and Marianne have an easy time getting the requirements for this class, maybe Anna too since the class is closely associated with her. Not sure who benefits from War Monk the most besides Byleth and maybe Felix. Dark Flier, definitely putting Annette in that just for the mobility to hit something hard or rally someone. Mage Knight, Lysithea for the same reasons as Dark Flier Annette, the extra movement and range will let Lysithea dash across the map and nuke whatever I need her to hit.

Keep in mind that the saint related crests are more widespread. Bernadetta and Hanneman both have the crest of saint Indech despite them being from completely seperate noble houses (Varley and Essar respectively). This means that just because she has a minor crest of Cichol, it does not mean she is related to Ferdinand in the same way as the Nobles of the Kingdom and Aliiance.

This is probably because the saints gave their blood to multiple warriors to help them fight back against Nemesis and the ten Elites, whereas the Elites crests' where passed on through direct bloddlines.

so they are all ready for much fun times as dark fliers. I do wish one was a Malig Knight because having male flier magic would be awesome. I am just not liking dark knight outside of the movement + 1 even though people look v. cute in the armour

To be frank, I'd be highly disappointed if those are our only class additions.

 

If we're getting a mage flier, it should be a non-genderlocked Malig Knight, with axes, flying, and reason. This would be a particularly good class for Edelgard, Lorenz, and Annette, who have exclusive axes and a proficiency for reason magic.

 

We don't need even more cavalry, and if we do get one, it should be sword based.

 

Lack of an endgame infantry lance option is unacceptable.

Which Battalion are you referring to? (I agree Ashes and Dust is one of the best available though :P)

Line of Lances. I've gotten them on the Silver Snow Path and I wanna say Crimson Flower but i don't remember getting another one this time around. Basically since it's not assembly or lure,  I like it much (it doesn't hit as hard, but it's decent).

 

I'm doing another Azure Moon Run. (this one won't really count because i just wanted to play this path and I spent a tonne of renown - but depending on how much i get back at the end we'll see) because i also really enjoy wave atk for cav/infantry melee. the only bright side w/edelgard's personal battalion is that you get two hits w/it where as the rest of the poison tactics only has one. Retribution has now become one of my favourites .... now that i actually train people in authority haha

I will say - (outside of Hubert/Lorenz being screwed the pooch (Sylvain as well who is good w/axes and is good magically), - Edelgard and Annette can still be a dark flier and just use axes. (for me, when I do Falcon Knights with Catherine, she just uses her sword. i don't bother w/her lance outside of the qualifications for example). 

i am assuming that the Valkerie (being a horsey) is probably due to the fact that for Holy/Dark Knight there's nothing in between. Bow Knights tend to have that same problem that you are basically out of a class where you can use both to get the double prof. points

it would have been nice for a better sword and infantry endgame option i do agree with that.

I know I asked this before, but is the "Abyss Rumors" side quest (shared by @Timlugia) from the paid side of Wave 3 DLC or is it a free quest update? I could see it being either honestly, since it seems like it's just there to tease Wave 4.

Yuri is a 19 year old chap from Nuvelle, located in Northern Adrestia. Yuri's family died during the Dagda invasion, making him the last of his line. He bears the Major Crest of Aubin, the Ice Dragon, which allows him to prevent counterattacks when equipped with a weapon sometimes. Seems to frighten Bernadetta and probably has a support chain with her. His Part 2 canon class seems to be Trickster (part 1 is probably Thief).

Balthus is a 26 year old man from the Alliance. Although, he could have had a mercenary past. He's another protein bro like Raphael, so yay, another meathead for the Alliance. Granted, he seems a lot less wholesome than Raph and more of a sarcastic asshole. He bears the Major Crest of Chevalier, the Snow Dragon. He doesn't seem like a noble though. He gets along with Hilda. Part 2 canon class seems to be Warrior Monk, but tbh he's built more like an armor knight or hero.

Constance is a 18 year old girl, believed to be from the Kingdom. It is speculated she's from the Western side of the Kingdom, like Gideon. She bears the major crest of Noa, which saves the use of black magic attacks. She seems to have a close relationship with the next DLC character, Hapi. Constance may be in poor health and may have been one of the Agarthan test experiments. Poor girl. Her nickname is Coco. Her Part 2 Canon class seems to be Dark Flier (part 1 is probably Mage.)

Hapi is a 20 year old woman, and she's quite mysterious. Hapi is a Greco-Egyptian name, and the only other characters that follow this naming scheme is the Agarthans... She bears the major crest of Timotheos, which saves a use of white magic. She's friends with Coco, and although she worries about her health, she also makes fun of her. Seems to be the playful type. Since it seems her and Coco go back, I wonder if she's also a part of the Kingdom? Her crest is found within the monastery so it's also possible she was born there. Others speculate that Coco was kidnapped by the Agarthans and Hapi, feeling bad for her, freed and escaped with her. She wields Dark Magic as well, which is interesting. Her Part 2 Canon class seems to be Valkyrie.

NOTE: Coco and Hapi can be switched. 

There's 2 other datamined figures, but since they are not listed as DLC characters, I'm just writing them off as NPCs for now.

Considering the symbolic pairing of the Noa and Timotheos Crests in the Dark Creator Sword, it'd be a neat touch if the current bearers of those Crests were close friends. This is a really neat summary of everything we know thus far!

I like the sound of a War Monk, particularly if it means a gauntlet-specialist class that is generally accessible to females... but damn, is that skill list disappointing. Fistfaire is fine, but Heal is useless (everyone with D Faith already gets Heal), and Unarmed Combat is redundant for anyone with Brawler mastery. Maybe they're intentionally not getting stuff like White Magic x2 to balance them relative to Bishops (since they're likely to have 5 or 6 move). Anyway, definitely gonna try Raphael as this, and maybe Anna or Catherine some time.

I've just read about the leaks. Are the only flying magic users seriously going to be locked to female only classes? That's so annoying. I'm already annoyed about the current gender locking in the game (all of it - male and female classes - I want a gremory equivalent Lindhardt and brawler Catherine - although I think I will be able to get the latter soon with one of the new classes -.-), but this is going to be so frustrating. 

I'm excited for the new DLC things to come, but this has soured me a bit.

Perhaps this is overly optimistic on my part, but perhaps the new characters we're seeing are not new additions to the existing houses, but rather just part of a new Silver Wolf house. And the existence of that fifth unit (a potential teacher) may support this.
