Eltosian Kadath
Lets begin by explain what this Lets play will be. First it is a succession game where one player will play through 2 chapters pass, then pass on the save to the next player, and do a writeup on their experience. Additionally it is an ironman run, where losing a unit doesn't warrant a reset. Finally we will be playing Fire Emblem 6: The Binding Blade on Hard Mode, as it was tied with FE7 on the old poll, and a brand new LP of FE7 was just posted, and I wouldn't want to step on any toes. Now let me set down the ground rules of the run: 1. Those who wish to play must inform me either by messaging me, or responding in this forum (or the old forum post about this but the other two options are preferred). As people inform me of their interest they will be added to a list of players, which will be the order of play. 2. Each player will play through 2 chapters and have 1 week to complete them before passing the save on. I will start playing through the first 2 chapters today and pass it on next Wednesday. For precision regarding time zones consider Wednesday to be 6:00 pm PST. Each subsequent player will have to complete their chapters and pass the save before the Wednesday following the Wednesday they were scheduled to start playing. 3. Player have until the Wednesday after they passed on the save to complete a writeup of their experience with the game. 4. Assuming the system consistently lets me update the opening post, each Wednesday I will list the player that still has writing time, the player scheduled to play their chapter that week, the player scheduled to play next week (I will refer to this as The Heir), and the player scheduled to play the week after (I will refer to this as The Spare). If the system does not I will post a reply on the forum instead. 5. Once every player has had a chance to play, we will cycle back through players. If a new player shows interest in joining after we have cycled back they will be scheduled as The Spare on the next Wednesday's schedule. 6. When players pass on the save file they will do so by either posting it publicly on this forum with the next player's name using the @ symbol to inform them, or passing it onto me so that I can post it publicly, either by updating this post, or making a new response (This way those watching at home can join in by playing along if they wanted to, and it allows me to archive old saves so that if anything goes wrong we have backup saves) 7. If anyone anticipates a schedule conflict please inform me so that I can update the schedule of players. 8. Each player will agree that the only time they will reset is when they get a game over, and they will not intentionally try to get a game over. No penalty will be applied for resets, but it is on your honor to follow the spirit of this rule, and remember deaths will cause the use of interesting units, and be more interesting to those reading this. 9. Players will not intentionally try to sabotage the playthrough. Older saves will be stored and distributed if people believe someone has tried to intentionally sabotage the run. With that out of the way I will end things off with some small suggestion for the writing portion of this Let's Play. These aren't official rules because I would much rather have player join in the fun, than have us all follow a consistent style. First it was suggested by @Alastor15243 when I first brought this idea up that each writeup be the journal/chronicle of the various tacticians that have taken over command (reminiscent of the classic Dwarf Fortress Succession game called Boatmurdered), and that is the style of writing I will use, and suggest other players do so as well. Second is to have their writeup be a screenshot LP. As an additional warning, the save was started on the most recent translation patch (https://forums.serenesforest.net/index.php?/topic/41095-fe6-localization-patch-v10-seriously-we-did-something/) which does not play well with older translation patches (as Garlyle reported, and I have confirmed using an older translation patch I had at hand) Completed Save: Fire Emblem - The Binding Blade.sav eclipse
I'll make a Big Mistake and put my name in the hat. . .though I think it would help a bit if you posted what "Wednesday" means to you, in terms of time zones. My Wednesday is vastly different from someone in Europe.
Garlyle
Sounds interesting. I like Binding Blade, so this playstyle will be a different take for me. Where do I sign?
Alastor15243
Shoot. I'd love to but this would ruin my retrospective to play this game this early.
Saint Rubenio
What a fun idea! Please, do sign me up. The run might look a bit worse for wear after I'm done with it, but oh, well. Just one question: if any units are lost and then Roy died, do we consider them dead, or do we just forget they ever died? As written the rules allow for new players to join as we play, and we are scheduled at a slower pace than you have been going. I haven't crunched the numbers but you might have a chance to join before the end 3 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: if any units are lost and then Roy died, do we consider them dead, or do we just forget they ever died? Forget, as I don't want people to be punished too hard if they try to join blind, or aren't experienced with this difficulty.
eclipse
Just to let you know that I got the save. I'm going to hold off until Sunday my time to do it, which should give you some time to write it up. And for me to figure out how to post images. Eltosian Kadath
Battle Journal Entry Number 1: I have just arrived at the military academy of Ostia, and have met my new client, Roy (heir to the Marquess of Pharae), and the head of the knights of Pharae, Marcus (clearly a Jagen if I have ever saw one). This job has been a stroke of luck, with the Bernese subjugation of Sacae, and my homeland of Illia; with Bern, Etruria, and Lycia preferring home grown tacticians from their military academies (not to mention the Etrurian crackdown in the Western Ilse), work as a mercenary tactician has dried up considerably, just as I was starting out. Thankfully the Marquess of Pharae has fond memories of adventuring with a mercenary tactician in his youth, and hired me to aid his son on his first military action. The lords of Lycia are mustering an army to combat Bernese aggression, and Marquess Pharae is sending his son in his stead due to illness, and I am to act as Roy's tactician. This should be a fairly easy job, the Lords of Lycia would have to be mad to put a 15 yr old like Roy in charge of anything more important than a lemonade stand, and with such luxuries as this magitech Journal, it should be a cushy position. Roy is within a week of completing his course of study, and after that we will be returning to Pharae for more troops, before joining the meeting of the Lords of Lycia, so I have a bit of time to get acquainted with my position, and the tools at my disposal. Roy seemed impressed with my experience with battle (well simulated battles, but he doesn't need to know that), and asked me to help with his studied, so tomorrow I will be going over some of the classic battle tactics from The Scouring with my old copy of Battle Journal Entry Number 2: Boy is my face red. Marcus really chewed me out for teaching from an older questionable Sacaean translation of one of the classics. Not everyone has the luxury of Lords of Lycia, and have to make due with whatever is available in the mountainous back woods of Illia. Roy has been kind enough to let me skim through his treasure of a personal library. I think I will add a few image from the books that I want to comment upon, mostly to practice with some of the light magic image capturing techniques imbued in it. I have been practicing with some of the staff based sound capturing techniques as well, it seems like a useful way to discretely acquire valuable intel from eavesdropping, although there has been nothing I have wanted to record. Roy apparently already had the updated translation The illustrations are admittedly rather impressive, although somebody defaced the insert image of the demon dragon. This version seems far more eloquent, and judgmental of humanities actions. Although some of the text has faded along the edge, as more signs of abuse. Its a real sign of Lycian opulence that they can treat their book so. Curious how they avoid mentioning what must have been the genocide of dragonkind, after being so judgmental of humanity before. While it was interesting to view this different version, I think some of the new history texts are more interesting, and make it clear why the old Jagen was so angry about my older text, these new ones have some heavy bias ingrained in them. Except for the Nabata Desert, but this one is curiously humanocentric. ...Or Etrurian-centric. This sounds just like the kind of propaganda they like to spread, being so refined they can treat the rest of humanity like filth. Simply being warlike doesn't make one great. I feel rather offended by the implications. Etruria and Bern haven't been some powerhouses throughout history, Etruria and Bern have been humble throughout the years. The reign of Desmond the Unready should make that perfectly clear on the Bernese side, and when Etrurian broke its armies in the mountains of Illia should be another. Of course they go over Lycia after the "powerful nations". Blatant Lycia bias. Mercenary work is far less soul crushing than farming the Illian coutryside that is sure, but the economy of Illia is far more complcated than that. The kind of metal crafting needed to make barding for a Falicorn have made Illian barding, even for war horses and Wyverns, desired the world over. Plus Goat herding has been fairly successful, depite this low land obsession with agriculture. ...That's all they have to say about the numerous Sacaean tribes. At least they didn't try to call them simple barbarians. As any good Illian mercenary knows, they have very complex and rigid laws and traditions, and if you want to get safe passage for a band of Pegasi, you are going to need to understand and navigate those complex political structures. I think I will stop here before get even rantier. Battle Journal Entry Number 3: We are about to depart, but I figured I aught to put in a recap of recent events for posterity. I used it as a briefing for our little band before departing. Battle Journal Entry Number 4: It has been a while, but it is inconvenient to update while on the road. Our forces have just reached the border of the March of Pharae, and I have agree to scout ahead and send word to the castle (and conveniently avoid another night camping outside with the troops). Our forces are rather limited so far, but it might be worth going over them. First we have our client Roy he seems a nice enough lad, but is a novice at combat. That being said he has practice with the noble art of the rapier, which gives him an edge against the Cavalier and Knights popular among the Lycians, and Etrurians. We also have his milk-brother Wolt at first I thought the term a sly insult for how weak he has proven, but apparently the boy's mother had to breast feed Roy due to his mother's untimely death. That being said as any good Illian knows bows are a deadly weapon, so he may prove useful despite himself. Of course there is Marcus a classic Jagen, skilled in combat, but so old as to have one foot in the grave. He should be able to keep our younger troops safe, but it is best to let him teach them by weakening enemies to let others get the kill. Currently we are traveling with Bors, a Knight of Ostia; although it sounds like he might only be with us temporarily, as he is supposed to guard Lilina, heir of Ostia (who is currently visiting Pharae). His heavy armor has been slowing us down this whole trip, but he has spoken to me of a sacred technique the Knights of Ostia have discovered, the Triangle Attack. Many an Illian has let its siren's lure drive them towards both greatness and disaster, and I feel it calling me. One of Marcus's subordinates Allen has met us enroute I didn't have long to speak with him, but he seems rather competent. Far more worrying is that it sounds like he is half the troops we were to gather in Pharae. When I next have an audience with Eliwood, I am going to suggest he hire a mercenary troop to round things out. I am taking my rest in the village nearest the castle, and should update this after meeting with the Marquess. Edited October 26, 2019 by Eltosian Kadath Rather than leave this partially edited for a while I will post this section first and add the sections on the chapters themselves later

Eltosian Kadath
Battle Journal Entry Number 5: There has been a bit of a complication. I think its time to take advantage of this things eavesdropping capabilities to get some idea of what these brigands may be planning. If they had waited a week that would be true, as Roy's army should arrive latter today. Seems their leader has some sense The castle should be able to hold for weeks, if not months (as long as there are no saboteurs within). These bandits must be used to raiding in the Sacae where there are few permanent fortifications like castles. ...villages like here. I need to get out of here, FAST- That was a close call, I had to "borrow" a horse before the village burned, and managed to meet with Lance (the other Cavalier we were to meet here), who has brought me into the castle to meet the Marquess. "Don't worry your Lordship, Roy's forces should be just south of here, waiting for the word" "Yes milord, I shall go with Lance for protection, and ensure Roy's timely arrival" We made a break for it as the bandit were fanning out into the countryside, playing at the idea of a siege, that these bandits have only ever heard of. I think I will let Lance spread the news, as I need to organize our troops. With the battle beginning, I let Marcus cripple the nearest bandit, for Wolt to claim the first kill. Then the cavaliers rescue him out of enemy range, and Roy borrows an Iron Sword to spare some Rapier uses. I know I should just pull Bors back and let Marcus cripple another one, but I can't help it after all that talk of a triangle attack. Bors should get some battle experience. The Bandit leader finally starts tightening his control around the castle. If he were competently blockading the gates before, thing would have been far worse for me. Back on the battle field Roy claims his first kill. Next Wolt and Allen setup the ...miss from Bors. At least he can still take the hit (even without the forest defense boost). Marcus and Allen pull Roy back to safety, with Marcus in range to cripple that next Bandit. But Marcus had a miss. I can still deal with this, but first Marcus and Roy gang up on the archer (for as any good Illian knows, an archer can put an arrow into the works of any plan) Then Lance gets his sword back to chip that bandit (although he ends up suffering the hit) After the additional Wolt chip, Allen grabs his kill. As for Bors and his bandit, with the avoidance granted by the forest, he has an even more embarrassing hit rate, so he pulls back, drawing it off the terrain. As I contemplate Bors's uncomfortable position, Lance uses the forest to claim his first kill without risk of death. There is no getting around it, Bors is going to have to chug a vulnerary, and move enough people away to let him continue his duel ...oops, I kinda forgot about those guys. Thankfully this is nothing a good Jagen can't fix as this lets only one threaten Roy, and he can take one hit at least. And enemy phase, Bors gets his kill ! hmm... That should make it safe for Roy to grab another kill. And it seems he is improving, sorta. He seemed a bit faster on the draw at least. Looking at the other Fighter, I may have been a bit hasty in calling Roy safe, as the two cavilers are just shy of killing him Thankfully Wolt puts an arrow through the enemies plans by solving that prickly issue. Although Lance has to take a slight risk to get the kill. Seems my maneuver with Marcus had some unfortunate consequences, as that fighter has the protection of the forest, And after a lot of missing its clear I need to coax him off of the woods. I think I will let him take the free hit on Wolt (who can take said hit). Lance then nabs the safe kill and starts getting stronger. Next Marcus will draw in and cripple those two near the castle. But those forces just beyond the castle start advancing to add to the pressure. I let Allen lure one into an enemy phase kill. ...And the other doesn't move? It didn't seek out healing or better terrain, it just sat there. If the enemy tactician makes such a tactical error, than maybe... Divide and conquer. Now Marcus will just cripple both, so Bors grabs a kill, and Allen gets a strong sense of self preservation. I think about pushing in with the cavaliers, but I take it slightly safer with the protection of the forest. Now all that is left is their leader (and letting the village to the south know its safe now). Its not terribly likely, but This makes it entirely safe for Marcus to deal with this fool. The fool can't recognize a Jagen when he sees one. Lance, our main messenger, gets to the village just before the Boss's death ...The opulence of Pharae is ridiculous, when the peasantry doesn't consider 5,000 gold a lot of money. I let Wolt get some target practice in, And it even let Marcus save a sword use. While I feel obliged to record his dying words, it simply revealed how self centered he was. He died not with thoughts of friends or loved ones on his lips, only his own lack of strength. With that Roy is reunited with his father. "sigh... I guess it is the lot of Mercenaries to get none of the credit" "...I may have spilled the beans on that one." "We would happily accept a battle mage into our ranks and -" "Wh-" "Lord Eliwood, our numbers are sorely lacking. Even if Lilina wont be joining us, Roy will need a larger retinue." Thank you Lilina. Bors, your help is greatly appreciated. Battle Journal Entry Number 6: We have arrived at the border of ... wait a map would make this far easier I volunteered to scale the heights to keep an eye out for those new mercenaries (and scout out the commotion in the castle). The crew Eliwood hired should have a Pegasus rider from the mother land with them, which is a good sign. Eliwood clearly has some experience with mercenaries from the adventures of his youth, but I wish he were more honest about those times. I had the chance to ask about it in Pharae and the story I coaxed from him clearly came from a dime store MagiFiction novel, with continent wide Bernese assassins, magically generated life called morphs, the return of dragons, and the theft of THE FIRE EMBLEM. The whole thing is... wait a minute, there is a wyvern approaching the castle. The Princess of Bern? If the princess is missing I need to send out a search party, as a captive of such importance would be a valuable bargaining chip with the war in Bern. Or worse case scenario a little veng- ...Interesting Curious, I would think that sort of greed restricted to mercenaries who have only wealth to gain. Titles and the fluid currencies of obligations and honor are usually these low lander's coin, although I suppose those of gold still holds value. If that is so, it will be far cheaper to simply seize this little border castle. Although I would have to convince Roy and his advisors Marcus, and Merlinus (Pharae's master of coin, he is leading a convoy of our supplies). I bet I can convince Roy, as that boy is itching for a chance to prove himself in battle, but Marcus is going to want some "honorable" reason to invade, and Merlinus will want something practical. With this fool wasting troops scouring the countryside on a wild goose chase it should be even easier to take the castle. I better report in, and try to think up some casus belli that will fly. "No sighting from the mercenaries yet, but the castl-" could that be the missing lady-in-waiting? Thank Saint Elimine indeed, things are shaping up nicely. "Your Lord, if this Commander Rudd has capture a Bernese noble woman, clearly they are acting against Be-" Perfect. A healer is joining us, and the battle I wanted falling into my lap. This are going almost too well. Lets start by getting Bors ...another miss. Oh well, Wolt can ...only chip. All right I have a plan to fix this but I want to heal Marcus, as he needs to get dropped elsewhere. Plus with him out of the way, Roy can kill that Soldier, which gives Allen a path to drop Marcus onto that key fort. Now our new healer is in a little danger unless I block off that other space with Merlinus. Our luck is holding strong, as those Mercenaries show up just in the thick of things. Now Wolt will clear some space with his bow and is looking stronger [sorry about missing the level screen, the difference is +1hp, +1 str] Now Marcus pushes in to chip more and Bors gets another kill, and is looking a bit faster, somehow. The rest start clearing away the nearby enemies and Elen heals the injuries Allen got dealing with the Soldier. Now it is time to get those mercenaries to help. Their leader seems reliable enough to hold one of the forts, but I don't trust those axey boys to be able to (and Pegasi aren't made for holding a line) so he holds the fort and chips a soldier to let our brand new Illian merc get a kill. Now the lead mercenary used his sword to chip, but he needs to dish out more pain on enemy phase, so I get his blade into his hand And Merlinus seems to think he can coax some tribute out of the nearby village so I let him head north. With the enemy pushing in on the mercenaries, and not trusting the axey boys to hold it is time to merge our forces, but first Marcus sets up another miss from Bors. I am trying to train you, but you have got to meet me half way here. Allen cleans up that mess. Now my original plan way to try and set up the Javelin counter on the approaching forces, but I misjudge our new Mercenary leader's weight, and I discover as retreating that I wont be able to setup the rescue drop for him (plus the Pegasus switched weapons while checking the enemy's capabilities). Seems Merlinus knows what he is talking about with this demanding tribute from the peasantry thing. Now its time to finish combining our forces (and successfully setup the Javelin counter kill this time). Now it is time to go on the offensive, and try to wipe this whole advancing force out And with that kill That peg knight is dancing through the skies. Now there is just one archer left, and while Marcus could kill him, I can keep him from reaching anyone in danger of dying so I just have him chip and continue the blatant Illain nepotism by giving our pegasus the kill. With the fighting dying down Deke finally introduces himself. I like to see that kind of enthusiasm in a mercenary company. Now it time for the classic draw them in with the Jagen tactic, that I have grown overly fond of. This lets Allen grows even stronger with the kill, and the blatant Illian nepotism continues. Elen is making the value of having a healer knows. On a more worrying note, Marcus meets the first enemy he isn't fast enough to double. Seems he is just too old to keep up with the pace of these youngster, but with that enemies high speed it is hard to chip, so Wolt and Shanna launch some ranged attacks, but Roy grabs the kill. but I am starting to worry about our young lords combat potential. Althou there is still time for him to turn things around. In a case of paranoia, I then rescue most of the troops out of the way (although there wasn't space to drop Wolt off, so Deke is holding onto him). It seems my caution was for naught as the enemy doesn't take the bait. Which was probably a good thing with how injured Marcus was. If they will not come to the Jagen, than the Jagen must come to them. Lance tries to catch up to his brother in arms experience wise, as # Merlinus, and Shanna ferry the brand new armor slayer to Deke. Now Marcus also needs some weapon management as that last attack broke his sword, so he needs something to chip the archer for Lance to get (un)luckier. [still getting used to levelup screens that go away without input, but the difference is +1 hp +1 luck] Now Allen pulls his friend back to give Shanna even more kills. This is a little silly, but even a miss should help her see some improvement (and worse comes to worst I can rescue her out of there) ...They suddenly turn my way. So it is with the turning of the whell of fortune. Shanna could really use to bulk up a bit, but it could be worse. Deke earns his pay by ending this in one go. It only ruins you when you are a fool. ...sigh. I could end it off here, but I think I will send Shanna to do some shopping (and do some item management) before we claim the throne. Mostly just some Javelins to pass around, and a couple spare iron weapons (like replacing Marcus's broken sword). It wasn't that long of detour anyway. "No Merlinus, something else is going on here." "That seems unlikly, unless she carries sway with Zephiel." Her desire to help is a nice sentiment, but I think the more practical approach might be necessary if these negotiations break down. I don't think these Lycians are going to like treating her as a prison for exchange, but it could lead to peace, or concessions from the belligerent forces. I will have to broach the subject before we reach the Lycian league where event may spiral out of our control. Battle Journal Entry Number 7: They took my idea so poorly that they fired me. To be fair I was a bit too candid in my journal entries, as they proved rather damning evidence once they started seeking my dismissal. As an extra warning to whomever inherits this, Marcus really doesn't like being called a Jagen. Fortunately Roy has been rather sympathetic to my plight, and has seen the value of my work (even if he agreed with the reasons that caused my dismissal) and has agreed to keep me with him as an aide-de-camp, so I'm not out in the cold just yet. I suppose I tempted fate when I called to mind the turning of the wheel. To whomever replaces me Good Luck, and try to keep these people alive. -Eltosian Kadath
eclipse
I need to figure out how I'm going to do this, since the bulk of my screenshots are story, and it's really late at night. But for now, here's the save. Edited December 5, 2019 by eclipse Keeping my attachment space nice and clean!
eclipse
This will be the story post, but I need to make sure image linking works the way I think it should (hence why all you'll see is a random screenshot). Keeping these separate so that my save doesn't get lost. Were you expecting a grand story? Well, uh, here goes. Dear diary, So I convinced these Lycians that I knew what I was doing when it came to tactics, and they hired me, just like that! Looks like easy money, since it's just some redheaded kid with a bunch of mismatched knights, one of which is older than my grandpa. Man, they must be desperate for help! Then this. . .kid talks the redhead into joining. He's fast, but a stiff breeze will put him out of commission. Our enemy is in some castle?! Wait, is my boss going up against someone competent?! Well, shit. According to some intel, these villages should welcome us. Uh, great, we could use all the help we can get. New kid tells us that the guard to the treasure room has some goodies on him. Well, if that kid wants to dance around someone who can skewer him like last night's dinner, I ain't gonna argue. Initial plan is here. The first guard can either go up against the one soldier in Roy's army that can take a hit, the annoying kid with the bow, or the old guy who won't shut up about his merchandise. Please go after the old guy! Girl swears she can fly circles around this guy, so I'm gonna make her put her money where her mouth is. Assuming she has one after this bout. Guess the old guy annoyed the guard. But it wasn't a kill. She actually did it. I'm slightly impressed. Old guy on a horse seems to have some pep left in him. Or maybe the guards near the village were rejects. Who cares, they're gonna die. The knight in red can run circles around these mooks. Perhaps I overestimated the enemy. Never mind, I overestimated him. Got hit in the face for his efforts. Serves him right. Now this is a sight I don't see every day. Boss kid's gonna do more than sit around and order his troops. That was unexpected! Knight in red seems to think that pursuing enemies into a forest is a good idea. Idiot. Lucky for him, forest guy is a klutz. This can't be a good idea. How did he even do that? Bors, was it? Lucky bastard. I think the chick with the staff became better at taking magic hits or something. Not that I care right now. Just as planned. If that kid wants to join the army, he can get his hands dirty like everyone else. I hope he has nightmares over this. Knight in green must've hit on someone in the village. He got a nice staff out of it, so I guess it wasn't a waste. I send the kid into the other village, because why not. Wait, is he talking to his friend? This is supposed to be a band of knights, not a bloody day care! But new kid seems to use magic or something. For once in his life, the kid with the bow isn't dead weight. Oh shit, I think he heard me. I tell the staff chick to heal up the merchant, because he's gonna get his face punched in again. This never gets old. Looks like that super-expensive sword isn't just for show! But why waste valuable things when something cheaper will suffice? About what I'd expect from a pampered noble. Good job enemy, you're wasting your time. As a result of being punched in the face, Bors learns how to take punches to the face better. Old knight and dodgy girl gave the kids a ride back to the main army. New kid looks like he'll be useful. Knight in red shows off. Still an idiot. Verbal abuse makes him tankier? Okay. This should keep everyone safe-- --that's a sword. On a horse. Assface. Axe guy number 1 feels the same way. Axe guy number 2 insists on a YOLO. "I only need one swing!" he yelled. And he was right. I don't know if I should be impressed by Wade, or disappointed in the enemy's inability to dodge. Staff chick continues to grow in irrelevant ways. Wade's all warmed up and ready to hit something in the face. Like that unfortunate guy. Bors gets an improbable level. Says the best defense is not being hit in the first place. Good luck with that. Kid goes and steals stuff. His parents would be disappointed. Meanwhile, everyone else of importance tries to figure out how to get that last enemy out of the door. I'm not allowed to throw an apple beyond the doorway, either. So I have to do it the hard way. We start with the kid with the bow. He dodged. Somehow. Less work for staff chick. "Good going, Wolt!" someone yelled from the back. Someone yanks Wolt out of the way. Next up is the knight in red. Since they both hit, his name isn't important enough to remember. Bors gets rid of the nuisance once and for all. Back near the treasure room, magic kid decides he doesn't want to be impaled, and sets the offender on fire. "I learned this from my friend, Chad," he told me. Great, now I gotta remember thief kid's name, despite the fact that he hasn't done anything impressive. MY PAYCHECK! Never mind, Chad, you're awesome. "It's thanks to Lugh that I was able to get in here," he replied. Against all conventional wisdom, the best way around the guy on the throne is a sword. Go figure. He's trying to impress the staff chick. I just know it! Wade knew he'd miss, but wanted to do that anyway. "That kill wasn't for me," sword guy said with a smirk. "There's no humor in dying by my hand." Deke was right. What a gentleman. Dude, you got your butt kicked by a little boy. This Narcian guy would probably be too busy laughing at you to have any mercy. "So you don't have to worry about me hitting the next enemy," he said with an innocent smile. Well, this might be useful. And that's a wrap. Miraculously, no one died. Perhaps I'm better at this than I thought. Until next time! (as in, I'll write up the next chapter later, I need lunch) Edited October 29, 2019 by eclipse

eclipse
And Chapter 4~! Dear diary, So we apparently steamrolled over Araphen, and are en route to Laus. Boss looked absolutely heartbroken as he relayed the news of Marquess Hector's death. Though if the dead guy was bleeding out while we were kicking Araphen's troops in the balls, I suppose I'd have to acknowledge his tenacity. Anyway, this "Erik" is some old friend of boss guy's dad. His dad has shitty taste in friends. At least this Erik can hire capable troops. Where's MY horse-mounted archer, and why is our bow guy so pathetic in comparison? The guy that visits villages will continue to visit villages. REALLY?! THAT'S ALL I GET?! Oh look, there's a shopping center next to that village. Deke sets out to weaken the most dangerous enemy, that horse-mounted bow thing. So dodge girl wants a piece of the action. Not that I blame her, since I've been parking my stronger units on the bridge, while everyone else waits it out. You're a failure. It's up to Wolt to not fuck this up. What do you mean, "put you up against more archers so you can learn their ways?" https://imgur.com/2wvvs9 https://imgur.com/2wvvs The plan: The Wall. Squishies that don't fly should be safe. Squishies that do fly can either dodge or die. Somehow, she didn't die. Laus sucks. Just LOOK at what they're doing to Bors! So, uh, who wants to negotiate a truce? Because I do. Scouts caught sight of this girl. No way someone this stupid would work for Laus. We're fighting here, and she decides it's time to ride her pony. Knight in green follows in Deke's unsuccessful footsteps to woo Original Staff Chick. Laus' troops are equally confused, which allows me to retrieve this stupid girl out of the battlefield. And I DO mean stupid. She just met dodge girl, and hopped on her pegasus? I think she's so stupid that she wrapped around and hit the smart gradient, because this is the most sensible thing that anyone has said so far. The old guy has an idea, and convinces Lugh to go along with it. At least he can deliver. Unlike a certain pegasus. And this is the first infantry sword guy that the enemy deployed. Why can this guy wreck most of my army? WHY DOES THE ENEMY GET GOOD THINGS, WHILE I SUFFER?! No, I mustn't tell my troops of him, lest they get demoralized. Just let them do their thing, no matter how bad at it they are. They'll learn the truth soon enough. And only then will they despair. It doesn't matter how much we try to change our fate. Like this village, we, too, will be destroyed. To sacrifice yourself so that your companions may live? How foolish. Just another nameless enemy cut down by an equally nameless army. "IT'S HIM!" came an unholy scream from the rear lines. So shrill was the exclamation that it left troops on both sides paralyzed. But when she approached him, she calmed down. Or did she? Apparently she agreed to shut up if and only if he'd join. Which miraculously worked. And that's the story of how Clarine talked Rutger into defecting, and how she inadvertently saved everyone else from certain doom. That's enough out of you, girl, get off the front lines. Rutger wastes no time in slicing up his former allies. Deke refuses to be outdone. NO SHIT SHERLOCK. Wait, who's Sherlock? This guy is clearly not fit to wield a sword. WHERE DID THOSE HORSES COME FROM? AND WHY ARE THEY SO CLOSE TO ME?! Rutger doesn't care. New plan: Heal up. And get the hell out of there. Oh, so you're more concerned about your goods than our lives? Jerk. Oops. Two of our best offensive units can't reach, and everyone else has holed up tight. Oh, and those pirates can walk over streams. Deke is the Pirate Remover. And this is the best antidote I have to those poisonous horse units. Wait, isn't that the axe we got last time? That was an attempt, but at least he wasn't injured from his stupid stunt. Dodge girl gets a weapon she'll never use. We're slowly but surely whittling the enemy down. This time, he hit, and it was damn satisfying to watch one of those bastards die to a single blow. Lot didn't say a word, but the smirk he wore afterwards said "fuck you and the horse you rode on". And I fully agree. If old guy continues to beat up everything, I'll have to remember his name. Never mind. If there's one thing I can count on, it's this guy being a disappointment. Boss guy, er, Roy decided that there was only enough room for one incompetent redhead. Wolt decided that today was a good day to be hit in the face with an axe. Now I gotta heal him, instead of someone more worthy, like Bors. Go tell your buddies in hell that you died to a kid who can't fight a stiff breeze. Yeah, that's unhelpful. Time to clean up that last detail. I mean, NOW we clean up that last little detail. What are you guys, drunk? Luckily, Lugh here is too young to drink, and too pure to ask for some. Someone's gotta carry this army. And nothing of value was gained. Nothing much to see here, either. And they're officially better than us. Wade didn't like the enemy's face. Time to put the theory to the test. Wolt, go kill that archer. "He cried for mommy and died. What else was I supposed to learn?" Sad to say that such a level is better than average. Bors can do it better. "I learn from other people's mistakes." Sadly, this was the most effective way of getting rid of the boss. Along with this. Original Staff Chick is young enough to be your granddaughter, you creep. So, who wants to do the honors? "Nuh-uh. I took the last one. It's your turn, Deke!" You. The answer is "you". I swear this is going to be the army that consists of an old guy, two sword guys, and a kid who sets things on fire. So you're probably wondering what took so long, and why there's so much gold missing. See, I'm going away for a bit, so I had everyone stock up at the shopping center. No telling who the new guy will favor. Might as well give everyone a fighting chance. And with that, we've taken over Laus. This time, the only "casualty" was some old fart who has no business being on the battlefield. I, for one, will not lose sleep over it. Garlyle
Guys, I have a technical issue - the save did load, but my stats were below base stats. I guess the issue is that my rom is an old translation called Sword of Seals. Like Lugh had 2 Mag and the highest Marcus stat was Luck with 10. If someone can send me a ROM that was used for this succession run, I can promise an update this week, otherwise I'd pass the torch. EDIT: also I'm very sorry about the delay, it was a rough week. Saint Rubenio
Well, since @Garlyle hasn't responded again, I'm going to assume that he was not able to play through his chapters. Eh, good, in a way - it saved us from having me be the one to play through chapter 7. Unless you say otherwise, Garlyle, I'll begin playing chapters 5 and 6 tomorrow. Garlyle
@Saint Rubenio Sorry, I had some issue out of my hand, and couldn't post an answer to your question. I assume you already carried on the savegame, so let's pretend that I skipped this round. @Eltosian Kadath Thanks for the assistance, please ping me once it's my turn again. Garlyle
@Saint Rubenio @Eltosian Kadath The run is alive guys. But one unit is not unfortunately. I'll update you soon enough, until then here's the savefile. Good luck Ruben, keep Lilina safe.
