Chapter 17a Part 2

The boss is defeated, but this chapter is not over yet because Leif must visit the church.

Priest: Oh, are you with the Liberation Army? Did this young woman say something to you? Please, don't put too much stock into it. The girl sometimes blurts out the strongest nonsense... She's a bit touched in the head, I'm afraid.

Sarah: ...Go...

Priest: Go? Go where?

Sarah: ...Go... I'll go with them...

Priest: B-But they said they were with the army. Ah, Sarah, wait!

Sarah: Go... Take me with you, you have to take me with you...

Sarah

Sarah joins. She's the only character who's recruitable in both paths. If you look at her stats, movement stars and skills, you will notice how ridicilous insane she is. Her only issue is her terrible base HP. She will get oneshotted by some enemies, so she cannot procceed miracle, but a life ring and scrolls which raise the defense can already fix. She will become a fantastic mage counter and a great staff user.

Multiple things are going to happen:

pcJKV0S.png
1. A bridge has been established. The former stationary knights in the bottom right corner all are going to move automatically.

nZts2JC.png
2. Saias appears as an enemy...

lzGaaho.png
... who does this.

Tbf this is not the worst about him.

i7YSJ42.png
... But having ten leadership stars make this chapter painful. Every remaining enemy has +30% hit and avoid. Make sure to clean out all the enemies in the way towards the boss before he'll show up. I can only assume from that conversation he'll only appear after the boss has been defeated, but I can't say it for sure. Maybe he still will join at the time as he does now, but the conversation is slightly changed.

It's about time to seize as soon as possible because the Gelbenritter will appear shortly who, of course, also will benefit from Saias's authority stars.

Let's see, what will happen after he got attacked.

I'm fairly sure he cannot be killed. Same what applied to Eyvel till chapter 5 and Kempf in chapter 11.

TIME TO SEIZE!

We won't see the Gelbenritter, but seriously I don't care. Escaping safely has higher priority.

I had to play this chapter three times overall because I made this mistakes.

  1. In my first run I forgot it's not impossible to talk to asleep people. I put Misha to sleep in the first turn. Karin could not talk to her anymore which is required for letting her join.
  2. I seriously forgot to visit the church and missed Sarah. That's really dumb, isn't it?

N3m6Xpv.png

Dorius: The man inside, Marquess Gustav, is King Blume's right-hand-man - and he's been ruling Leonster with an iron fist.

Leif: How many people have been died at his whim... ?

Augustus: Kill Gustav and hang his head from the castle gates. Don't waste your mercy on him - you must fulfill your duty as ruler!

Dorius: Prince Leif, we've captured the commander of the Silessians. What shall we do with her?

Leif: Let her through, please. I want to have a look at her.

xgREBB3.png

Dorius: This isn't going to work, Prince. The Pegasus Knights of Silessie value honor above all. After leading her troops to their death, the shame would be too much to bear, especially as a prisoner. We should grant her death, as she wishes - that would be mercy.

Karin: Lord Dorius, don't say something so stupid! Captain Misha, you have something to protect, don't you? How will you do that, if you die here?! Those poor kids of Silessie are depending on you! You haven't thought about them!

Misha: Ah! How do you know about that?

Karin: I asked one of your troops. I saw her lying on the battlefield and tried to help... that was when she told me. I didn't know how many people were going hungry in the places where the Empire is still in charge... So many children, thin as a blade of grass... Just wasting away... She told me she'd hired on with the Empire just to buy food.

Misha: ...

Augustus: Lady Misha, don't you see the irony? It's almost funny, in a macabre way. By helping the Empire, you're sacrificing the children to another country to save the children your own country. The Empire is conducting child hunts in Thracia - and it won't be long until they do the same in Silesse. Who will protect Silesse's children then?

Misha: Child hunts... ? What in blazes are you talking about?

Leif: So you don't know... Then I want you to live a little longer and see the truth for yourself. I sentence you to live - to bear witness to our pain and suffering!

Misha: ... I'm sorry. I'm a little overwhelmed, here. Just give me some time. I need to think...

Important update

Spoiler

I replayed chapter 16a and 17a because I need that sleep sword for chapter 18.

I did not only get a the sleep sword, but I also could capture the boss of chapter 16a (master lance, master bow).

In chapter 17a I saved one warp use and played it chronologically as it has to be.

Only needed eight turns in total.

He shows up on turn 10 regardless, although with different dialogue. I have always waited Saias out, and never saw the alternate dialogue for what happens when the boss is already dead. Saias leaves after five turns, with Reinhardt and Ishtar taking him away to help the mysteriously ill Julius (Ishtar is seeking out Saias specifically as she doesn't trust the Loptians to help with this...)

Fair enough. The Gelbenritter arrive without Reinhardt (as he is with Ishtar) so they aren't as scary as they sound, but the arrive with a couple of turns worth of Saias leadership boost so the safe option was probably for the best.

That is a bit unfortunate. Recruiting Xavier is so much easier if you put his adjutants to sleep (thankfully NPC can talk to sleeping enemies) as if any of the green units kills one of the those that are still red and need to be talked to its all over, and with half having hammers, and skills that make it even more RNG reliant you are at the mercy of wild RNG. If you somehow have a thief that can nab hammers they can also make things safer, but that is unlikely and the thief has to be able to live against those armors. Two pieces of advice for trying the sleep sword route, make sure to leave an empty space between each sleeping enemy, that way the civilians have a space to talk to the next armor as they can pass through the space of the converted npc armor, but the armor doesn't wake up. Second be careful that whoever goes to said empty spaces can talk as the npcs can be kinda dumb, but if they convert their armored knight they start retreating. Than again if you have a hero that can rescue those heavy armor knights that is less of a problem. This patch made the civilians that need to talk to armors have the first letter the same to make things easier (although the font makes capital N and M almost indistinguishable making two of the sets a little complicated to figure out).

Battle Preparations

D85J9ek.png
Uu80BqM.png
X3Tl41y.png

One thing in advance: Chapter 18 of Thracia 776 has the most difficult recruitment in the entire franchise imo. You have to prepare very well for this. Here are some things I highly recommend:

  • sleep sword (alternative: >= eight uses of sleep staff)
  • Nanna and the kingmaker because charisma will be essential
  • some warp, rescue and rewarp staves
  • Tina with thief and unlock staff
  • at least one thief
  • lockpicks on a thief or chest keys

Xavier is the guy who gets the title Hardest recruitable unit in Fire Emblem.

Gustav: An understanding that I'm the only general who will tolerate your worthless life. I could've killed you at any moment over these past several years, but I didn't. In fact, I made you my right-hand man. I trust you won't forget my generousity.

Xavier: Right-hand man? I... I've merely done what I could to aid you, nothing more.

Gustav: Yes, you've been quite the asset. And, if you'll recall, I've reciprocated that - I've granted your every request, within reason. Now, how many lords do you think would do that?

Xavier: Hah...

Gustav: What? Is something funny? Or, is there something else you want, princess? Well, let's hear it! Out with it, now!

Xavier: ... Unless you can bring the dead, I don't think you can help me.

Gustav: Ah... Funny... Very funny. Though it doesn't compare to your greatest joke: the knighthood. Look at yourself - you're every bit the fiend as I. Worse, perhaps, as the rebels resent you as a turncoat and traitor. Even if you were to betray me offer them your sword, they'd never accept you.

Xavier: I know that, damnit! I've prepared myself for this... After so long, perhaps I can finally show my face to them, even if it's from across the field of battle... Bah, enough! I'm just another soldier! I'm not afraid to face death!

Explanations what to do in this chapter.

Augustus: With great difficulty, I imagine. If you're determind to save him, however, I'd try having the hostages speak with the eight adjutants. Perhaps they'll see reason. Just take care that they're not spotted by imperial soldiers - Gustav's men catch sight of an escaped hostage, the plan is ruined.

Leif: Understood! All right, everyone! Take breaching positions. By day's end, the flag of Gaé Bolg will fly from Castle Leonster once more!

Note: This units's formation is not the one I'm using for this map.

The map does not look hard on paper, but if you want to get Xavier, this chapter will be a pain.

Even if you're 100% prepared, there's still enough room to screw up.

Enemies

O89FLYA.png
SX3qArV.png

Killer lance is a bit scary, but also nice to get.

On the right side are four dancers who all have some gooies:

ZJMIUiB.png x2
DlHtbTD.png
SI6Im69.png

pulC0Z8.png
A few of the thiefs also have some good weapons like the killing edge.

Of all the chests the one on top left and the right part of the map (next to the thief) are very good. The ones next to the stairs in the bottom center are not.

tnJUN4t.png
HEZuCkS.png

Gustav is the boss, another master weapon general. In this case he is a baron which would allow him to use thoron. His mend and especially adept scroll must be taken off from him. Since he's not capturable with his 20 con, a thief is needed. Again Asbel is the best way to take him out although he can survive a critical hit by him.

Xavier

weiWIB9.png
u6UTJbq.png

Xavier is the recruitable unit in the game. In the paragraph below it's explained how to get him. He's a decent filler unit with some good skills, three leadership stars and very nice weapons, but if you read his recruitment, you'll see he's not a good payout for all the needed ressources to get him. In an ironman run he's a 100% no.

The way how to recruit Xavier:

In the big room below Xavier are twelve knights in total. Eight of them have a portrait. The four generic ones can be ignored and should be taken out at once because they would only cause more trouble otherwise.

All the eight civilians have to talk to their eight adjutants. Each cilivian has their default adjuntants.

It's mentioned neither in the character screen of the civilians nor in the character screen of the adjuntants, who has to talk to whom.

The game does not tell it directly!

XpaTqZK.png
Wwhx4XY.png

The only hidden hint the game gives, is that the civilian and their correct adjuntant share the same first letter of their name.

PS: I never would have figured it out, if someone had not told me about it.

However this is not even the part which makes Xavier's recruitment that difficult.

All the portrayed knights will attack everyone aside of the civilian who can talk to them. This means letting the civilians go to all the eight knights won't work at all. They must be lured out one by another. The way to prevent it is to use the sleep sword or sleep staff. Usually this game is so clever that asleep enemies cannot be talked to by any ally, but for NPCs this game made a decision here: The civilians can still talk to these knights once they're asleep. However they won't move once they're green. And this causes the next problem. Once the knights are NPCs, all the non green knights will attack them, and by having no stats, they're instantly dead.

All knights must be asleep, before the first civilian can talk to them, to have an easier time.

Using the sleep sword causes another problem: Once they're asleep the sleep sword user is trapped because asleep units cannot move logically. So the sleep sword user must be rescued and warped to another place to get attacked again. Since there are eight enemies, it's possible only to use one rescue and warp (getting attacked 2 x 4 at best). Still the four generics must be taken down first (by long range magic) to make this possible.

Wwhx4XY.png
FQkq1UF.png
Facing with the portrayed knights is no child's game at all.

  1. Some of them carry a killer lance, so a scroll is a must have.
  2. They all have movement stats and...
  3. they all have continue...

means they have the chance to attack multiple times. None of my potential sleep sword users can take more than three hits of them.

Miracle on them is good actually because it can prevent fatal hits on them.

There's even a more difficult task to do in this chapter:

p7P9djQ.png

Letting all the level 1 soliders alive (capturing counts too).

If you can, you'll get a member card.

I never did it, and never will, because dealing with Xavier's recruitment will make stream my brain enough.

Ralph will put the knights to sleep for a certain reason I'll explain in a bit.

This is very important item for this chapter. Ralph has to get it because with the +3 con, he would have enough to rescue some of the portrayed knights and make room for the civilians.

Spoiler

He did not need it at all.

MwhKNTp.png
Ralph is warped to this place which allows him to get attacked by threeenemies. As I mentioned before no one can take more than three hits

The reason for this place is that at least one tile gap must be between the stuck knights, because if not, they would block each other from letting the civilians reaching them. It happened in my first attempt. No one could rescue them.

Also this time Ralph benefits from Leif's kingmaker support.

The knight becomes green. If he was not asleep, he would flee with the civilian. But as for Xavier's recruitment it does not matter. Letting each civilian talk to their adjuntant is the recruitment requirement. Their survival does not matter.

It took me some rescuing and turns since the wrong civilians moved first and blocked the ones who could talk to them who stood in my way.

Leif: General, what are you saying... ?

Xavier: Ah... Need I spell it out? Regardless of my reasons, I betrayed the crown. I owe the kingdom a terrible debt, and that cannot be changed. But the guilt rests on my shoulders, and mine alone. My adjuntants are innocent, and mereley followed my orders. Their only crime was placing their trust in me. Spare them for justice, I beg of you...

Leif: General... The way you've had to live... Please, raise your head. I'm the one who owes you a terrible debt. I fled the castle thinking it would protect the people, but all I really did was abandon them. I failed the highest duty of a ruler, and left you to shoulder this burden. Chapter 19 is a defend map.

Since the party is far apart distributed into two group and there's no way to switch the starting position of an ally, it is a pain to

The thing in FE5 is that each starting point is connected to a number in the units's selection. The first picked unit right of Leif is #1 and starts on spot #1. As for this chapter uneven numbers start next to the enemies and even numbers start next to the castle. Since I want to have mounted units next to the enemies and foot units, especially staff users, next to the castle, I have to set it up by even skipping units to have a number order to give staff users an even number.

lVYduW9.png
pq7iZoJ.png

It took me about 15 minutes to find a decent deployment. Like I had to skip Orsin to let Olwen start next to the enemies and Asbel next to the healers near the castle because he needs to be warped.

Keep in mind that the battle formation has to be done before you can see the units's starting place.

As for the map it's a defend map, but also an escape map more or less for the people who start in the middle of the battlefield. There are few civilians in the battlefield who must have been carried back safely to Castle Leonster. If all civilians make it there, you'll be rewarded with a master seal. The enemies do not attack or capture them, so you can focus on the enemies.

Enemies

There are three different groups of two parties:

Alster

rhmYsrZ.png
SGj4TQH.png
rmTpLPK.png

Alster features all kinds of paladins who carry really strong weapons. They can be really dangerous.

VmBf08a.png
pHygCm2.png

Their leader, Conomore is recruitable, if you picked the B route. He's an okay paladin at best. Charge is a nice skill to have combined with his master lance. Four leadership stars are annoying.

Friege

QXosqaf.png
A3v6AXp.png

Friege features troubadours who all have miracles and powerful mage knights.

5xZnAP4.png

Their leader, Almada, is recruitable, if you picked the A route. Schroff can do it. She's definitely the better one of the two mainly because she has access to staves. C is not best, but it's workable and possible to bring her level to A in time to let her use (re)warp etc. Since her level is also lower than Conomore's she has more room to grow. I think Almada has no leadership stars because she's recruitable. If I picked the B route, it would be the other way around.

Almada is a bit trickier to recruit since she starts farer away than Conomore who could be recruited in the second turn, if things go normally.

I forgot to show Wolfe and his squad who also fight for Friege.

He's another general with a master lance, his classskill great shield and leadership stars. Around him are three more knights with a master lance each, two bolting bishops and two 15 range ballistas.

This chapter features tons of villages. Some of them cannot be visited before the thieves destroy them unless by using (re)warp staves. Since most of the villages don't offer something great, I will save the staves and let them burn down.

Asbel will be healed and stay there since this is a safe spot. There's a slightly chance that Almada can die, but only if she can move twice in enemy phase.

Schroff talks to Almada:

Lady Almada, lower your sword! It's me Schroff!

Almada: Father Schroff?! What in blazes are you doing here?

Schroff: I came to meet with you. Prince Leif of the Liberation Army has been waiting for you.

Almada: You... want me to betray my country? That's not even in the realm of possibility, Father Schroff. If it was, I... I wouldn't be living in such torment.

Schroff: Lady Almada, a country ins't the plaything of a king or nobleman. If a country has lost its way, it's a knight's duty to lead it back. Will you stand idly by and allow evil to consume your home, all out of the fear of being called a traitor?

Almada: It's not that simple! I have to consider what will become of my troops if I defect!

Schroff: They can decide for themselves. Buy your foremost duty is to your country - follow your heart.

Almada: Mm... I understand. Father Schroff, I shall fight with the Liberation Army. I know what I must do: rescue the children stolen by the Empire!

yDXjJdd.png

Augustus: You don't have the luxury of wallowing in regret - not now. There will be time atone to Duke Dorius after you've defended Leonster. Summon all your patience and discipline - you'll need it for what lies ahead.

Leif: ... You're right.

Augustus: Come now, I do bring some good news. I've heared multiple reports that a large rebellion is taking place in the eastern reaches of Isaach. They seem to be putting up a good fight against the Empire, by all accounts. Do you know who their leader is?

Leif: If the rebellion is in Isaach, couldn't it be Prince Shanan? Finn told me about him... He has the most gifted sword-arm in all the world, and he's beloved by his people... In short, he's a far greater man than I...

Augustus: Of course, Prince Shanan is with the rebels, but their leader is someone else.

Leif: That being... ?

Augustus: Lord Seliph of House Chalphy. The people of Isaach and Grannvale alike hail him as the "Scion of Light".

Leif: L-Lord Seliph?! Can this be true... ?

Augustus: I believe it is - and his father, Lord Sigurd, was your uncle. The Crusader Sigurd... As recently as a decade ago, he was reviled as a traitor, but nowadays he's a popular folk hero. He saw through the Emperor's schemes from the beginning, and died trying to protect the world from his machinations. Bards spread his tale across the land, and it captivated the hearts of every man, woman, and child suffering under the Empire's rule... And so he's become more legend than man. Now, that child of the legend is fighting to realize his father's dream... The people feel hope once again. And blinded by that hope, they wouldn't hesitate to die for his cause... This is a bounty from the gods. We couldn't be crafted a more perfect opportunity ourselves.

Leif: What exactly are you saying?

Augustus: I'm saying there's a reason so many people are ready to die for Lord Seliph. It's not just because he's a strong warrior. Our era demands a hero. The people clamor for one, and so... someone has crafted Lord Seliph to be their hero. Forged him, if you will, in much the same way one forges metal into a blade - taking a man and sculpting him into what the people the need. No one chooses to become a hero.

Leif: Augustus... Does that mean... the people in my life crafted me to be what they needed, too?

Augustus: Mm. You'll have to come to your own conclusions on the matter. Though I will say this... Recall the Duke Dorius lost an arm protecting you - and now he's traded his life for yours. Have you ever stopped to wonder why he did that? Why do so many people keep sacrificing themselves for you? Why do so many hail you as a hero? Think on it, and think well...

Nothing big, a Killer Lance and Silver Sword? (I think, its a Silver something at least), they aren't worth a warp use, and the only time I have gotten them was due to very lucky movement stars after dancing.

The first time you can see the most powerful warrior of Judgral.

Reinhardt: A battalion is on its way here from Alster. They should be arriving shortly.

Bharat: Hmm... Yes, that should do it. We're already seized most of the castle. Those few halls are the rebels' last refuge.

Reinhardt: Normally that would be good news, but...

Bharat: Hm? What do you mean? Is something amiss?

Reinhardt: This siege has gone on for a half year, yet Leonster still stands. King Blume is... displeased. I don't meant to speak out of turn, especially to one of my elders, but... I'd suggest you hurry.

Bharat: ...You're not telling me anything I don't already know.

Reinhardt: The king's temper worsens by the day. The loss of Prince Ishtore at Fort Melgen has been taking its toll on him...

Bharat: What of the Isaachian rebels?

Reinhardt: I hear they've already crossed into the Thracian peninsula. But they're not entering unopposed: Cohen and the 26th battalion, Banba and her sisters, as well as Lady Tinni and her unit of red mages, are all moving to intercept them. Still, the rebels were able to beat Lady Liza... I feat the coming battle will be a most arduous one indeed.

Bharat: And what does His Highness himself intend to do?

Reinhardt: I believe the king plans to personally take command of the troops of Alster. Should the Isaachian rebels break through to the city, I imagine he'll send for you. But if Leonster still remainin enemy hands by that time, your future will be... most uncertain.

Bharat: Ah. Very well. You've made yourself clear.

Reinhardt: Then I must be returning to Connaught. If you'll excuse me...

Rldv7R5.png

Bharat: Send word to all the troops: we're launching an all-out assault on Castle Leonster! There will be no retreat! Fight with your soul if you want to live!

Soldier: Ah! At once, sir!

BInf5z8.png

Augustus: I've already ordered as much. Everyone can stand upright is fortifying the castle. If we fall here, we have nowhere to run.

Leif: We've done quite well against such an ernormous army, considering everything. Holding out for a half year, under siege... But we'll reach our limit before long.

Augustus: Bah. You've become overfond of such feeble whining. It's unseemly for a prince of your stature. If you're not willing to fight to the last breath, you're betraying the memory of all who have sacrificed themselves to get us this far! Don't forget the bigger picture! We're keeping the bulk of the enemy's forces busy here, which frees Seliph's army to match through Thracia unimpeded! You musn't give up before we're able to merge our forces!

Leif: I'm sorry Augustus. I know... And I do want to meet Seliph myself, but how else do you expect me to feel, having to watch our soldiers die one by one?

Augustus: If it pains so, that's all the more reason to their memory by fighting to the last man!

Chapter 20 is a defend map. You have to defend in 15 turns, but you are forced to kill the boss in the mean time. Some allies are start in enclosed buildings, so having some door keys and Lithis a / o Pan helps to get out quickly. But they are not entirely needed. The walls of the buildings will be destroyed by the knights, so they help my allies to get in "freedom".

MWmK660.png
All the knights have a door key who will open all the doors.

DIY2Eys.png
All the generals around the boss have a master lance as they have a great shield. They definitely can be a threat.

The more the boss is: Another armored boss with a master weapon, so very dangerous. Since he has scroll equipped, only the armorslayer can be a guaranteed ORKO. Putting him to sleep is the way how to steal his scroll and beat him without taking any risk. The Thrud's scroll gives

  • +5% magic
  • +5% luck

I know I could have cut this chapter, but I wanted to give my units as much experience and weapon level as possible.

Also recruiting Almada (most likely) means to use two rescue staves, on Schroff and her, since she hardly can take hits.

The way that was going I wasn't sure any of Amalda's group would live to become green units.

I didn't even remember of that.

Though they were perfect canon fodder.

It would cost one at most, as Almada gets a turn when she recruits, and can use her horse to grab Schroff meaning only one rescue needed to grab both. If you recruit her first turn there should be enough green units to distract all of the dangerous red units, which lets Almada escape (unless Conomore is both alive and procs a movement star, in which case she might be in trouble, but so will most of the troops in the south).

Do you mean Reinhardt? He can also show up in a cut-scene in 17a when you wait until Saias leaves the map, but you beat that map before the cutscene with Reinhardt could trigger.

I will also note, that once your mounted troops get out of the castle and onto the ground (or the castle tile they are in gets broken enough to see the ground) they can mount.

Leif: Then there's no reason to delay. We must meet Lord Seliph as soon as possible! We head for Alster!

Dermott: I'm pleased to hear it, sire. I can guide you there.

Leif: Was there anything else you needed to tell me on behalf of Lord Seliph?

Dermott: No, sire.

Leif: Then now that that's done, it's my honour to introduce you to Nanna.

i5joeNa.png
I'm not sure, if this dialogue triggers if Nanna is dead.

Dermott: I'm so sorry it took me such a long time to find you... If I had just known you were here from the start, I'd have dropped everything to be by your side. I only finally learned of you through Lord Lewyn...

Nanna: Lord Lewyn... ?

Dermott: He's Lord Seliph's tactician. There's nothing this man doesn't know. And he told me about your mother, too... How she way trying to reach Isaach, but vanished in the Yied Desert...

Nanna: Ah! She's... not with you? I... I see... I had resigned myself to the fact that I'd likely never see her again, but even so... Mother... Oh gods...

Dermott: I'm sorry, Nanna. Mother was traveling all that way for me...

Nanna: No, don't think like that. I used to resent her for leaving but now that I'm older I understand how mother felt... All women feel the same deep love for their children. I've seen as much...

Dermott: I haven't given up, Nanna. Lord Lewyn said mother was still alive. We can search for her together when the war is finally over. So... don't cry anymore, OK?

It would cost one at most, as Almada gets a turn when she recruits, and can use her horse to grab Schroff.

... Oh yeah, this is true.

Still I didn't want to waste a rescue staff for that.

Though I wasted one for killing the general boss.

...That is such a good Karin

I gave all the scrolls to her from the chapter she joined.

She was already blessed in early game.

I will also note, that once your mounted troops get out of the castle and onto the ground (or the castle tile they are in gets broken enough to see the ground) they can mount.

I know....... but I often forget to click on mount.

I have to recapture to get my (great) stuff back.

That Master Lance would be a huge loss.  At least with those stats it should be easy to recapture that nice equipment (and the extra door key from his starting inventory is a nice bonus as well)

Pan stole Bharat's scroll who does not move btw.

He starts moving if you haven't killed him before the turn 15 time limit, as a way of getting it to end if you are really playing it too much like a defense chapter.

These 3-15 ballistae are nothing you want to face with.

I like to have people within 1-2 range of them to kill them the turn after they spawn (I think you can spawn block these as well if you really hate them).

Unfortunately these two are not playable.

Leif: I pray you forgive my selfishness, Lord Seliph.

Seliph: Nonsense, you're not being selfish at all! I understand your feelings perfectly. You can head to Manster with a clean conscience - I'll see you soon.

Leif: Yes, in Manster! You can count on it!

Julia: I'll be praying for your health, Lord Leif... If your fortune begins to wane, perhaps one of your own clerics could appeal to the gods. I believe there's a church on your route... I've heared it was built to receive the prayers  of the Ducal Family of Tahra...

Leif: Thank you, Lady Julia. Just don't forget to take care of yourself, too.

nbKqcrC.png

Augustus: Indeed. He commands an army ten times the size of ours, and he was able to lead them across the Yied desert. He's certainly not your ordinary youth...

Leif: But you said before that he was "made" into a hero, did you not?

Augustus: I did say that, yes - and in one sense, it's true. But I'm not discounting that Lord Seliph himself prossesses outstanding talent. I suspect he'll eclipse the legend of his father, Lord Sigurd, by quite some measure.

Leif: And meanwhile, I'm still just an embarassment to Leonster...

Augustus: You've grown much over the past year, my prince - in another year; I'll expect you'll be the same caliber of a man as Lord Seliph. Now, putting that aside, what did you and he agree would be the plans of our armies, going forward? Which frees our army to head for Fort Danzig, correct?

Leif: Indeed. Lord Seliph readily granted my request. Leaving Connought to Seliph means we can focus all our energy on seizing Manster - I want to head there as soos as possible.

Augustus: We'll have to claim Fort Danzig regardless - it controls the inland route to Manster.

Chapter 21 is one of the warps you can and actually want to warpskip since it features a shitton of ballistae including a new ballista type:

JuzQqtS.pngEBhmFZs.png
Poison ballistae are less powerful, but they inflict poison status if they hit. They're as deadly for fliers as regular ballistae. Though they can oneshot no one aside of Tina.

xzlNeWF.pngmCSx4oG.png
The other two already known ballista are featured too naturally. 30 attack is ridiculously insane.

ldNZFXb.png0AWPQB5.png
These knight aren't much of a threat.

7faGr8Y.pngXGfTY4N.png
These draco knights are nasty because they all have miracle.

hT9bR4O.pngk8u2KGU.png
Same goes for the boss who moreover has nihil and adept. Still Grafcalibur can oneshot him unless miracle is activated.

3ycIaVV.pngKTHT3se.png
The main boss is way less a problem to deal with. Since he has the blizzard tome equipped, it's pretty easy to take him down, even with melee weapons like armorslayers.

Though I would like to grab that blizzard tome.

Dermott

XP8f3ak.pngYpMvKB2.pngU33uCTJ.png
Dermott joins, if Nanna is alive. He comes with his personal sword, Beo Blade. It gives vantage and wrath for a reason. If you remember, this skill combo cannot be activated simultaneously. Or maybe the game made an exception for him!? Anyways he also comes with charme which is a helpful support skill.

As Julia mentioned, a church is on the map, people of the royal family of Thara have to visit. Linoan, for being the Princess of Tahra, has to do it. If she visits the church, she'll get her (auto) promotion. It's the only way and chance to promote her. Linoan is the only character besides of Leif who has storybased promotion. She cannot use a master seal.

Last note, the next chapter will be another gaiden. To get this gaiden at least one unit has to be captured till the end of this chapter, not being dead. Ralph did not escape in chapter 19, so he counts as captured. That means I fulfill the requirement to get access to chapter 21x.

Anyways 21x is a goldmine for getting tons of good staves, so be sure not to miss it!

Let's go!

The Gate/Throne he is sitting on will prevent status from effecting him, but a good idea otherwise. That Blizzard Tome is particularly scary due to it causing sleep.

Its that he has a 1-2 range weapon he can use in his equipment list, so theoretically he could defend himself. There are a couple of other siege tome users earlier in the game that have to be fought to be captured for similar reasons.

Chapter 21x is my favorite gaiden. I'll come to the reason in the bit.

To get to this quest at least one ally has been captured by an enemy or did not escape in an escape map.

3NMGJ0D.png
The position order of imprisoned units is fixed.

It's an escape mission.

The easiest way is to use a rescue staff on the imprisoned unit and escape with everyone in turn one, but it's not the purpose of this chapter.

This chapter is a goldmine for warp staves and other goodies, so I want to dip in for sure.

These bishops can warp a promoted unit on you and kill your defenseless healers.

O345DDD.png
gLVrrQ1.png
These priests also have a warp staff and warp powerful thoron mages to you.

You musn't give them any chance to do it, so you must silence or sleep them in turn one or steal their warp with Tina's thief staff.

All in all you have to silence / sleep / steal six enemies with a warp staff.

It's the one of very few chapters enemies can use warp against the player which makes silence and sleep extemely relevant.

It's a more elegant way of ambush reinforcements.

I love this chapter because of its difficulty, but also for the rewards, if you play it correctly.

Either you enrich yourself, or you die!

After Leif's escape:

Ishtar and Julius once more

Julius: What a spectacular family of failures... House Friege is a joke.

Ishtar:  I... I apologize on behalf of my kin...

Julius: Heh, heh. You're hardly at fault, Ishtar. There's no need for you to apologize. Yet having said that, I can't allow you to join the battle in Connaught yourself. I need you with me.

Ishtar: As you wish. But where are we go to instead?

Julius: Miletos. Hilda has been pestering me to come.

Ishtar: Mother...? What ever for?

Julius: To see the results of her harvest, of course. I must say, she's been quite delighted with governing the city since I gave her the throne.

Ishtar: Mother... has... Do you mean to say... she's been conducting child hunts?

Julius: You know, Miletos's climate is quite pleasant this time of year. I think it would be an ideal place for two people to spend time together. Yes, that sounds perfect... I'll buy a dress of fine silk, Ishtar. And what else would you go nicely with it... ? Ah, I know just the thing! A ruby tiara. Hilda is already arranging a most splendid banquet for us, I'm sure. Ishtar, you can dress up and take everyone by surprise with captivating beauty. I'm dearly looking forward to it... Oh, Ishtar, I'm so glad to have you by my side...

Ishtar: L-Lord Julius...

Julius: Ishtar... That man, Reinhardt... I don't want him near us anymore.

Ishtar: Reinhardt?! He's watched over me since I was a child! I rely on him every day!

Julius: I don't care! I hate the way he looks on you! If I see him, I'll pluck out his eyes myself!

Ishtar: Ah... I... I understand... Forgive me, but I must ask this of you: let go Reinhardt home. Please!.

Julius: Heh, heh... Very well, we'll leave him be. Let's be off! Oh, Ishtar... how I love you!

The Gate/Throne he is sitting on will prevent status from effecting him

Its that he has a 1-2 range weapon he can use in his equipment list, so theoretically he could defend himself. There are a couple of other siege tome users earlier in the game that have to be fought to be captured for similar reasons.

Ah, I see.

Would be a bit cheap to put status ailments on a boss, so I can see it.

You remember Saias, right? He's the one with the shitton of authority stars.

Bishop: If you value me half as much as you claim, be silent and listen! Have you already forgotten how my only daughter, my Aida, gave her life to protect you from that fiend Manfroy? Surely your lonely childhood in that isolated monasty cannot have left your memory so easily... Yet hiding you in such a remote place was I could do to shield you from him. I could sincerly contain my laughter when you finally came of age and were appointed a military officer at Manfroy's own suggestion - the fool didn't realize who you really were, having lost your trail years prior. Yet his mistake was your gain, and you set to honing your skills as a tactician with a passion that not even I knew you possessed. So obvious was your talent that it only took you a decade to rise from a lowly officer to a royal bishop of House Velthomer. And for a brief time, you were so trsuted by Emperor Arvis that Manfroy couldn't dare harm you, and I was able to rest easy. But that sanctuary has come to an end: with the power of Prince Julius behind them, the Loptian Order now wields more influence than the Emperor himself. You bear the brand of Fjalar, Saias - neither Prince Julius nor Princess Julia inherited her mark. That is way Manfroy fears you so. For the sake of Fjalar, for the sake of House Velthomer, you must live on to preserve that holy bloodline. The fact of the matter is this: you cannot die here, and so you must hide your true strength. More than just my life is at stake here!

clycAOl.png
Reinhardt is here too - no good news!

Saias: I'd heared Princess Ishtar had returned to Miletos - weren't you with her?

Reinhardt: I worry for my little sister... I've stayed behind to see her in safety. Besides, Lady Ishtar has no need of me any longer.

Saias: ... Did the princess really tell you that?

She did. With a man as powerful as Prince Julius with her, she says, there's no reason for me to escort her as well.

... Commander, this is difficult for me to ask, but... I've heared Lady Olwen has defected to the rebels. Is this true?

... It is. But she's little more than a child. I'm certain she's being deceived by the enemy, somehow... If I can just speak with her, I know I can bring her back to her senses.

Mm.... I know that you'll always see her as your little sister, but she's not quite so little anymore. She's a grown adult, Commander! She wasn't going to be that little girl chasing her big brother's coattails forever. How she lives her life is her choice to make. You must accept that.

How Olwen lives her life... Do you mean to say that her part has split apart from mine?

Indeed... Though I do agree you should speak with her, if the gods give you a chance to do so.

69d6ceJ.png
o3YHVRx.png

Augustus: True, the river has granted his land many blessings, but it also stirs greed in the hearts of men. Countless battles have been fought for control of this river - and now we find ourselves about to fight another. Take head, my prince. The last king of Leonster - your very own grandfather, King Kalf was slain here.

Leif: That's right... My lord grandfather met his end at this very spot...

Ah, at the risk of sounding pedantic, King Kalf didn't perish exactly here - he died on the bridge just south of here. He fell in battle when the Knights of Connought - Raydrik's men - suddenly turned against their army, shattering their formation. Now, bear in mind that the river is notoriously easy to defend, but near impossible to attack. The enemy has likely stationed powerful battalions here to halt our advance. I expect this battle will be our most difficult yet, Prince Leif. Steel yourself for what lies ahead...

Chapter 22 is a seize mission.

It can be done easily in one turn, and this is what you actually want to do!

Though you should do several things before seizing.

The warp staves from chapter 21x become very handy right here because they are needed to get extra stuff.

Enemies

wqtPvS0.pngO5eK9NC.png
Master bow is very nice to have but unfortunately no one can use it yet.

kf8pE1B.pngn8ndzco.png
The only obtainable paragon sword in this game - a must have! Not only it doubles combat experience, it also gives a nice defense boost.

xIN6vTr.pngFqMLVmG.png
A couple of bolting sages. I have bolting for days, so I skip these.

1aZTzba.png
more good stuff

Also there are two houses which have a warp and rescue staff - get them!

Since I have enough warp staves I only will try to go for the resuce staff.

Also you might have noticed that the enemies have an absurdly high hitrate.

How did this happen?

Answer:

cfXiRf7.png
Z7FzRp1.png
jxX1xXt.png
The enemy has 19 authority stars in total which makes +57% hit / avoid.

Basically each enemy can easily hit, even inaccurate stuff like bolting.

Now for the bosses:

e2xeoRR.pngZ7FzRp1.png
Saias has the same stats as in chapter 17a, but I think he also has a silence staff now besides his sleep. He cannot be killed again. Ignore him!

P1wFaSG.pngcfXiRf7.png
Cohen is not too threatening. With his equipped blizzard tome, it's not too hard to kill him despite his massive evasion. You want to kill him at once not to let use him his berserk staff.

g0AvJgd.pngjxX1xXt.png
He's the biggest meme in Fire Emblem, aka Reinhardt. Not gonna lie, the most threatening enemy in Fire Emblem. He has his Brave Tome Dire Thunder and tons of good skills like adept and charge. If he's on low health, he will attack first with his vantage. I think the only way to beat him is with Mareeta and Mareeta's Blade when Reinhardt's on full health. If she can land a crit with her two strikes, he's dead. Anyways there's a cheap way to beating him: using thief staff to steal his Dire Thunder and Master Sword. Tina needs 14 magic and a magic buff (pure water or barrier) to steal his stuff. Stealing his Dire Thunder would be enough since he wouldn't be able to counterattack anymore. Though if Reinhardt's disarmed, he'll leave the map.

However you don't want to do it before Olwen has talked to him because she'll get a final gift from him.

Facing 19 authority stars is a pain in the ass, but there's a way to get rid of some.

Since the boss has a few and he's not too scary, you have to take him out at once.

Turn 1

Planning turn 1 needs some very good preparations because there's so much stuff to do.

Player Phase

aDli7yd.png
Buffing Asbel's magic to let him deal more damage to the boss.

QyxX2Ci.png
Tina has by not enough magic to steal anything by Reinhardt. Another Dire Thunder would be awesome, but I can live without it.

Lara dances Tina

mEB9rTe.png
z33PAyR.png
Sarah warps Asbel to the boss.

fFM2oV8.png
65% with Grafcalibur - 65% with the most accurate weapon in the game - that says how brutal the enemy is

gxue9Mj.png
Anyways if someone attacks the boss, some events will happen after this turn.

Since I will finish it in the first turn, I have to tell:

  1. Saias will leave and so his authority stars. The enemies lose 30% hit / avoid, so they are by far less intimidating. Saias would also leave on his own after 60 turns.
  2. This is the command for everyone to move out (including Reinhardt)
  3. The bridge would have been dropped. You need a flyer or warp users to reach the exit.

ru2niZB.png
I'm really lucky and Asbel can ORKO him with a crit.

This saves me a rescue use.

By Cohen's defeat the enemies lose 12% more hit / avoid.

I could warp Leif to the castle and finish, but I have to do some tasks before:

Olwen has to talk to Reinhardt.

iBhOMbf.png
So she will be warped next to him.

WZnisKe.png

Olwen: Brother... I...

Reinhardt: Come now, there will be time to tell me about all that's happened once you're safe. Heh, I'm sure you have plenty of good stories to regale with them. Olwen... Let's go back home together.

Olwen: Home... No, I cannot go back to Castle Friege. I can't show my face there until I right the wrongs I helped commit, and rescue the children taken by the Loptians. Don't try to argue - I've already made up my mind.

Reinhardt: Olwen, listen to what you're saying! We're family! You're my darling little sister! I couldn't bear to lose you!

Olwen: I'm more than just your little sister! I'm my own woman! This is the decision I came to after thinking it over on my own. I know what it means for me.I've prepared myself for the anguish it will bring. Not even the words of my older brother could sway my mind now.

Reinhardt: Then... Then that makes us enemies. Do you have it in you to raise your blade against me, Olwen?

Olwen: If you stand in our way, Brother, then... I have no choice.

Reinhardt: I see... So you're really serious about this... It's exactly as Bishop Saias said. You have indeed grown up - that's clear to me now. You've become a formidable woman, Olwen. I'm proud of you. This is the last time I'll be able to treat you as my little sister, and not as my enemy. But as your older brother, I have one last gift for you.

Olwen: This is...?! I recognize this sword! It's your most prized weapon, Brother!

Reinhardt: A token of better days... Princess Ishtar gave me that sacred blade, but I've no need for it now. You can put it to better use.

Olwen: But why? I know how important it is to you.

Reinhardt: That's... That's none of your concern! Now ride back to your army, Olwen! The next time we meet on the battlefield, I'll show no mercy, sister of mine or no! Am I clear?!

KsTLcw7.png
YBpmtWC.png
The Blessed (Holy) Sword is an awesome sword only for Olwen. It's an effecitve weapons against cavaliers with Brave Effect. Also it gives 10 magic, in this case rather 10 resistance. If she has this sword equipped, spells like Jormungand or even Fenrir won't do much to her. It's not as great as another Dire Thunder tome because it has no two range, but still good enough especially in late game when a lots of dark mages will be faced.

pmhMKQ6.png
Next step is to steal the paragon sword.

kCRhzYg.png
Then Sleuf warps Leif to the castle.

I have no more staff users left to let someone visit the house with the rescue staff.

r9IpGDt.png
Nevermind! Sleuf activates his movement stats, means he can warp someone to the castle.

9WSWY04.png
He warps Xavier to the house with the rescue staff.

L1sysqK.png
qVil2CF.png
sHRXJsc.png
FvtAH9f.png
GEUaO5R.png
Great!

RZVCweo.png
Dean also may move again and can visit this (less important) house.

d8Hhrh7.png
U23I1Le.png
KbThfli.png
why not

Now I have done everything important.

It would have been a perfect run of this chapter, if I was able to steal Dire Thunder.

Though I'm very little satisfied overall.

Getting the rescue staff was not expected either, the more glad I am that I still got it.

WzvFmQ6.png
Time to seize!

When I played this chapter for the first time I needed four hours and like 80 turns.

For this run I needed about three minutes for one turn.

yvkpBhq.png

Augustus: ... Blood that has been spilled can never be returned. Wise men accept this, and see to it that blood is only spilled for a worthy cause. Bah, enough of my ruminations. Come along, Prince Leif - we must hurry to Manster.

I prefer the the warp Olwen, talk to Reinhardt for the awesome sword (and to trigger Saias's escape), rescue her back, and finally ward or holy water+dance someone to berserk Reinhardt. Berserk Reinhardt is outright hilarious and effective at clearing out the scariest parts of this map (and the ballistae will take him out eventually, so you don't have to deal with Reinhardt) so you can take it at your leisure.

You don't have to actually attack the boss for these to trigger, just having a unit end their turn sufficiently close will trigger them. That weird little open spot you can warp Olwen to talk to Reinhardt is actually close enough to trigger these events

Ced is back!

TRwYev4.png
As Saias is.

Saias: A simple traveler, nothing more. I heared about the fighting that had broken out here. If you wish to spirit the children away, from this foul place, perhaps I could help. Or are you unwilling to trust me?

Ced: Hmm... I sense your heart is enveloped in a gentle wind. You don't seem to mean us harm. Just who are you, exactly? You wear the robes of the royal priesthood...

Saias: We haven't the time for me to explain my little story, I'm afraid, but I give you my word that I'll see the children to safety. You can either trust me or not. Choose now.

Ced: ...Very well. I have little alternative but to believe you. Ah, one more thing. When you flee with the children, please, you must make sure this sword escapes the city as well.

Saias: A sword... ? Ah, I'll gladly smuggle it out of Manster, of course, but do you realize what this weapon is? It's Bragi's Blade! I'd heared it was being kept in Manster Castle, under heavy guard.

Ced: It was, but I saw to that. You see, Raydrik is protected by an enchantment upon his own blade, the Loptian Fang. Bragi's Blade is the only thing that can breach its foul magic.

Saias: I see... So what would you have me do with it?

Ced: The blade can only be wielded by a swordsman of holy blood. A rebel leader, Prince Leif, is marching his Liberation Army here as we speak. He can use it - I want you to deliever it to him.

Saias: I understood. I'll see that it reaches his hands.

Ced: You've my gratitude. Oh, Sir Priest! You must give me your name, at least...

Ah, forgive my rudeness. I am... I am Saias of House Velthomer.

ZRlyeU9.png
Saias leaves the castle and moves to Leif... without being spotted somehow.

1chbqKp.png
It gets tight for Raydrik...

Raydrik: That's unacceptable! Those cattle are the only bargaining chips we have to get the Empire to overlook this mess! Faden, cut them down in the streets! Slay every last little brat! Let's show every damn peasant in Manster what the price of fleeing is!

Faden: Leave it to me, milord!

imR2kuM.png

Raydrik: I hear Leonster's stray mutt in marching on Manster, and the Magi have already breached the castle once... They must not be allowed to seize control of the gates as well!

Alphand: Of course, sire! We'll take every measure to secure the city!

GAUNroL.png

Augustus: Things have escalted since last we were here. The knights seem to be weaker than before, but they're still a force to be reckoned with. Without the Magi's aid, I fear seizing Manster will be nigh-impossible. ...Oh? What's this? Look, there's movement around the city! Whole groups of children are fleeing Manster!

Leif: What?! There's no time to lose! Let's move!

Map

udlOxWN.pngrXYxi0y.png
Kw7BHAb.pngB0IIwqy.png

The goal is to seize once more. It's another easy warp skip, but again a few things must be done before.

Saias

O49wfZw.png
Saias is playable now. Though he's not near as broken as before anymore since he lost all this authority stars. Still a very good filler because staff users are welcome all the time. He carries the Bragi's Blade which is not shown in his inventory. Anyways Leif has to talk to him (or the other way around works too) to get this sword. Saias will stay or leave after this chapter, depending what's going to happen in this chapter.

Chapter 23 is the final map which takes place outside, so it's the final time all the cavaliers and fliers can shine.

97HnH3y.png
Logically it's also the final time dealing with ballistae... thankfully.

Ajh270F.png
The lonely placed general has tons of good weapons, so it'd be wise to capture him. Since I don't need any of these weapons, I won't do it.

The castle is guarded by some cavaliers and their promoted version, including miniboss Faden who carries a flame sword.

R0RMcOz.pngupev1sC.png
Two sleep staves. They are by far less annoying than two silence users would have been. Since I have way too many units for this chapter, they can do whatever they want.

hrVTPq3.png
Alphand is not too bad since he has no fenrir.

Turn 1

Since I plan to warpskip the chapter, I will not bring the kids to safety. I think they only would give something like a master seal, I don't think. It was not anything really valuable iirc. That also means I will skip some events in this chapter like the appearance of some draco knights reinforcments including Altena.

I will not end this chapter in the first turn for a good reason, I explain right here:

bDtJExT.png
I mentioned Saias's remain is crucial by (not) doing something.

If someone is placed very closed to the castle - in this case four tiles away - something is going to happen after the first enemy phase.

6f4TRSG.pngDgee6aV.png
Tina rescues Saias. He doesn't have to stay on this spot till the end of the turn to trigger upcoming event.

otvklIY.png

Leif: A... priest?! You're the one that led the children to safety?

Saias: Indeed. I did so on behalf of Sir Ced of the Magi. Thank you for taking us in.

Think nothing of it! If anything, you deserve all the thanks for seeing the children out of the city. Leave the rest of the fighting to us. You should get somewhere safe, Father.

Ah... Now that I get a good look at you, I take it you're Prince Leif?

That I am. How did you know?

There's no time. Listen closely: you must take this sword with you, and keep it close at hand. This is Bragi's Blade. You'll need it if you're to defeat Raydrik.

Bragi's Blade?! You're... giving this to ME?

Make no mistake: Sir Ced wanted you to have this. I gave him my word that I would deliver it to you. It's a sacred blade that can only be wielded by someone of holy blood - but Sir Ced knows little of swordplay himself, you see.

A sacred blade. The holy weapon of Bragi himself...! The gods themselves must have sent this sword as an act of providence... I'll see that it meets Raydrik's neck before long. Thank you for everything, Father!

I'm... just happy to have played my part. But remember: when the time comes to face Raydrik, you must bring that sword with you - it's the only thing that can breach the enchantment which protects him. May we meet again, Lord Leif!

ifXS0jN.pngvIOSlH4.png
The Bragi's Blade doesn't look as impressive as other holy weapons like Holsety, but it's good for what it is. It's the ticket for Raydrik. Also miracle is always nice to have, especially on someone whose death would cause a Game Over. Only Leif can wield it.

Leif is warped to Ced to talk to him. Be sure: Once Ced is recruited, Saias will leave after this chapter. It's nowhere mentioned. So make sure to take of all of his weapons and staves. The other way around, if Ced isn't recruited, Cyas would stay. But seriously who doesn't want to have Forseti!?

Leif: Aren't you... Sir Ced?!

Ced: Prince Leif?! Hah, so you've finally arrived!

Leif: Sorry to have kept you waiting. I never did a chance to thank you for rescuing me, Prince Ced...

Ced: Ah... So my secret is out, I see. How did you learn that I'm a prince? Did Karin tell you?

Leif: She did. If what she said is true, you stayed behind here to protect the people of Manster instead of returning to your native Silesse. I'm sorry I've been proven to be such a worthless prince... Everything you've gone through all comes down to my own weakness. I had a chance to liberate the city when last I was here, but all I could do was run. That was unforgivable of me.

Ced: There's no need to apologize, Prince. It's no fault of yours - my plan was doomed from the start. I had intended to liberate much more of the city and its people, but not even my holy weapon, the Tome of Forseti, could overcome the power of Raydrik's Loptian Fang. Because of the miscalculation, I lost many of the very people I'd come here to save. I'm to blame for all of this, not you.

Leif: Even so... I envy you, Prince Ced. The people hail you as a hero, and they're not wrong. You're everything that I'm not: holy blood runs strong in your veins, and you can wield the very weapon your namesake once used. And I... I have nothing. I'm a world apart of the likes of you and Lord Seliph. I... I'm no Crusader...

Ced: Prince Leif... How could you say such a thing?! Being a Crusader means more than just happening to inherit the right kind of blood. For centuries, Judgral was ruled by the Loptian Order and its Empire - the Crusaders were the ones who overthrew their rule. And that's exactly what you've been doing for a whole year now, Prince Leif! You've fought and bled to liberate the people of Thracia. You walked a path that would've broken lesser men. But on you marched, waging your own holy war to free countless souls from the grip of the Empire! Neither Lord Seliph nor I have any right to call ourselves better than you. You're the youngest of us. You spent your childhood being hunted. And you've never stopped fighting. In fact, you've been fighting for longer than any of us have! If you're not a Crusader, then who the hell is?! Take heart, Prince Leif! Your soul sings with the voice of Njörun! You've done her legacy proud!

Leif: Prince Ced... I don't know how to thank you. I look at you and Lord Seliph, see the scale of what you've accomplished, see the enormity of your armies... and then I think of my own mistakes, of the people I've failed, and I feel so... small. Small and weak. Like a sickly child standing besides giants. Heh. Perhaps I am still a child, in many ways.

Ced: Then that would mean I, holy weapon and all, needed to be rescued by a child. Do you mean to insult me?

Leif: Ah...! N-No, that's not what...

Ced: Hah! I was only joking, Prince Leif. Though this is hardly time to fool around... Ahem. Back to the matter at hand. My men and I have Raydrik pinned down in a small wing of the castle - with no way for him to escape. Alas, there's a complication: he's using the few remaining children in the castle as hostages. The Magi doesn't have the manpower to both storm the castle and keep fighting the knights of Manster on the streets. Prince Leif, will you lend me your strength and lead your forces into the castle while the Magi keep order in the city?

It would be my honor to fight alongside you! I've a score to settle with Raydrik.

Leif: How fitting that the Twofold Traitor will meet his end at the hands of the Prince of Leonster... Gods be with you, Prince Leif!

H743rHH.png6SE8ZQJ.png
Ced joins and by that Saias will leave after this chapter. Ced still has his awesome Forseti tome.

All of Saias's stuff is taken off.

Lara is warped next to Leif to let her make Leif seizing the castle.

2boFyLL.png
If you want to have Ced, you need two turns at least.

o9kBU2y.png
kIjMFqb.png

Augustus: Then we have our work cut out for us... Ah, there's something you should be aware of, my prince. I have intelligence stating that Raydrik's blade, the Loptian Fang, is enchanted with dark magic that shields him from all harm. If we're to defeat him, we must prepare some kind of countermeasure before we enter the castle.

Ah, I'm one step ahead of you. I receiced a sword, Bragi's Blade, from the priest that fled Manster with the children. It's a holy weapon, that's every bit the equal of Raydrik's blade - and importantly, it can breach the magic protecting him.

Hmm... That's quite fortuitous, for once. Just make absolutely certain you have Bragi's Blade in hand before the next battle, my prince!

56ii0rA.png
Saias's farewell

Leif: ...Can you tell me more about your circumstances? How exactly did you end up here?

Saias: I can't say. Not now.

Leif: I see. I don't suppose there's any chance you could stay with us any longer? We could use your help for liberating Manster.

Saias: I've seen enough battle for one lifetime. I already fear that my heart may have grown too accustomed to warfare... But know that I'll be praying for your good fortune from the Tower of Bragi. Be well, Lord Leif.

Next time Leif finally will kick Raydrik's ass!

Mareeta has to be deployed since she can recruit someone.

Besides her staff users are highly recommended (as for most other maps).

vkUEkZP.png
It's finally time to Rayrdik's ass!

5q8uzvi.png

Veld: Don't promise more than you're capable of. It's obvious to anyone with eyes that the rebels have the overwhelming advantage.

Raydrik: ...

Even for you, this is pathetic. I thought you'd at least be more useful this this, but it seems I overrestimated you. I wash my hand of you, Raydrik. Our alliance has come to an end.

Wait, Bishop Veld! Please! If you abandon me now, I... I...

Not above begging, are we? Oh, very well. I'll consider this a dead man's last request. I shall spare you a batallion of sorceres from the esteemed Welkenrosen.

7bF7Pp4.png
Veld leaves.

ax23IUe.png

Ced: There aren't many of Raydrik's men left, but he's made up the difference by hiring a slew of sellswords. The most dangerous of them is a swordsman by the name of Galzus. Challenging him directly is suicide.

Leif: Galzus, you say? Hmm... What should we do about him, then?

Ced: Our only option is to lure him close enough for me to ambush him with the tome of Forseti. Yet even I don't know if that will defeat him...

Leif: We barely have enough troops to stage such a diversion...

9fkTxmv.png

Augustus: As their tasks are a race against time, that was all the more reason to send them in ahead of us.

Leif: Rescuing the children goes without saying, but why bother with the Loptian bishops?

Augustus: There's a place of warship in the east wing of the castle where the Loptians congregate. The bishops there pose a grave threat to our army, as they wield berserk and sleep staves.

Leif: I see... So the task of defeating Raydrik falls solely to our group, then?

Augustus: Indeed. There won't be time for the others to circle back around and rejoin us.

Ced: We're certainly in for a difficult battle, Prince Leif... Leave the weaker foes for me. You just focus on Raydrik!

Leif: Understood! No matter what it takes, I'll cut him down!

Chapter 24 is the second last main story chapter.

Finally Leif has the chance to defeat Raydrik!

Though there are some obstacles in the way.

First of all the party is split in three groups in isolated areas. Merging the groups impossible without using (re)warp and rescue staves.

Each group has its own task:

The left group has to save the children from the Loptian bishops:

IS7oTQB.pngRaxCmf9.png
All of them have Jormungand and a few of them even hel which reduces HP to 1.

They all prioritize the civilians first to escape with them.

Keeping the cvilians alive has its purpose. One of the civilians, a male one, has a door key (not shown in the inventory overview of this person) which can open the big door at the top of the map. This opens a room with a chest where the Kia staff is inside. If you remember, it's this staff which can restore stone condition. Only Sara can wield the Kia staff. If she's alive at the end of this chapter and you got that Kia staff, you have access to the last and by far, I say it most controversial, gaiden of this game. Once the door to the Kia staff is open, you can ignore the civilians. You don't get anything, if they all escape.

The right group has to deal with the Loptian bishops Augustus mentioned:

lh4qFSI.png

All of them have different weapon or staff and very most of them can be very dangerous.

PmjZeda.pnguow8p3h.png
annoying, but not dangerous

W0WZnvj.pngGLADqOf.png
Can be ignored for now, but getting the rescue staff unused would be great.

MgoasyK.pngjb9lzXM.png
Same goes for this one.

JqTBPi6.pngacLZDST.png
Has to be dismantled at once since he can reactivate any asleep or silenced ally.

LgPBkMx.pnglBSH6xW.png
Same goes for him. Berserk has a way more target range than silence since most phyisical units have lower magic than the berserk's user.

YCft4IE.png70KIzVZ.png
Same what goes for the rescue user.

QSze3hz.pngaheL48l.png
The biggest threat by far besides the restore user!

YvayN7l.png2qJJ1UM.png
No threat. Just kill him.

lW9a0XG.pngmEG6INi.png
A bit more annoying than silence since it can target more of allies as the berserk staves, but it's not the bishop to give highest priority to.

So the enemies you want to get rid off at first - better to silence / sleep to grab their staff later - are the

  • fenrir
  • restore
  • berserk

users.

Dismantling the silence and sleep users in the first turn would be perfect, but these are only minor threats.

This chapter is a good example how to create a battle between staves.

Usually battles are decided with physical weapons and magic, but as for this chapter staves play a major role.

Seriously it's the only chapter when staff wars is going to happen.

The upcoming gaiden has it too, but the framework conditions are different, simply worse.

6ZQ1C8i.pngvltKMUy.png
The two heroes in this area have status affecting swords, so keep an eye on them!

So the central group with Leif is left:

Xpt0CjC.png
They have to fight two snipers, two bishops, four heroes with all different equipment and Galzus.

HqZSh1A.pngPA0UJtH.png
Both snipers each have a master bow.

u26bF3O.pngGguVAeE.png
Both bishops are not threatening, but they have nice staff to capture.

k6aeGvO.png3R2k3oL.png
0itg2KS.pngfhm9mUg.png
SKLycnV.pngHP67LJP.png
cqWob37.pnghyfahRE.png
All the heroes have either a range weapon or a master weapon, so they can be very dangerous.

Note: If you play an older translation, clicking on one of these heroes will crash the game. As you can see the Project Exile patch solved this issue.

wKEA8u1.png6XpWx56.pngX4Iuija.png
Galzus is still the same as in former encounters.

You don't have to face him!

He's recruitable with Mareeta.

If you have managed to get rid of all these guys and recruited Galzus, only Raydrik is left:

W1WiehZ.pngQG3i71H.pnggYUSooY.png
His stats are rather bad for being maxed level, but his stats don't really matter two much aside of being not very strong. Loptian Fang gives 20 magic boost, so mages can't do too much on him. However the main thing about this weapon is, that disables any attacks aside of the Bragi's Blade. I think dealt damage is halved if I remember right, but I have not attacked him with any other weapons of the Bragi's Blade yet. Anyways Bragi's Blade is a must have to defeat Raydrik.

Turn 1

Player Phase

NxulNzw.pngM6ggXle.png1CR4oA6.png
Sarah silences the restore user.

G7zQnuS.png
Fortunately she may act again.

RV0fM3c.png
She dismantles the berserk user.

8GiTWl1.png
Safiya dismantles the last of the big theats.

I don't remember, if which staff she used, but the result is the same.

8GiTWl1.png

Tw6gwcS.pngFz0d4sk.png2VP41p5.png
Tina rescues Pan since he has the door keys. Furthermore more manpower for protecting the kids is welcome.

InCu3Cn.pngBtbIPwi.png
Pan also may move again. Good RNG so far!

fprxkmj.png
The race against the bishops begins. Seriously this is the hardest part of this chapter.

OrzsrJI.png1EVgmYM.png
Linoan will get rid of all these bishops in enemy phase.

Enemy Phase

2I8n2as.pngpy5U638.png
The bishops do what they can do best. ;(

0sPjwHp.png
Unfortuantely these bishops are "clever" enough not to suicide on Linoan since they can't hurt her.

It will slow down my progress.

MVy1Q0H.png
Nanna is silenced, the only real remaining target.

LKwkfav.pngPNvRpTO.png
Using staves and items for fun.

I mean it's not entirely dumb, since they try to break these things before I will be able to capture them.

It's the only chapter where you can see "staff combos" on an enemy.

I really wished more chapter had them...

Turn 2

Player Phase

gdfjeNj.pngIiE2KMk.png
amazing

k9sZhX5.pngOyzB2Dh.png
Why not? The only real opportunity to get this weapon.

It was a mistake actually since by losing the sword the hero has way higher AS now and so it's harder to defeat him now.

TJxgDxA.png6LlYP2z.png8c3bt9D.pngVOr7x1A.pngX5iX4o1.png1vYUH4i.pngn2XNdhM.png
The recapturing was successful.

9hVFIgm.pngjg0swra.png
Pan activates move again in the second turn too.

QX81F8R.png8NSSmm5.png
great level

qMzBzjI.png
Mareeta is still able to finish the hero off.

FujyuNH.png7i0scU9.png
This area is cleared. Though I want to grab some of these staves.

Enemy Phase

If you get bogged down fighting Veld in the last room of the game the dark mages with him will use ensorcel staff to increase the magic of the silence staff users, and silence your magic capped units.

Spoiler

Enemy Phase

8aLJ85t.png
I was in serious trouble.

vw1TU2L.png
As always game keeps me

rdJO9RO.png
Lithis is captured which is not too bad honestly.

c5yZLQu.png
Jeez... again I barely escaped death.

Turn 3

AgsTa3e.png
The lockpicks are gone for good likely - not the end of the world.

I have the knowledge now that soldiers appeared, and I'm fairly sure it wasn't the only turn they showed up. They will spawn over and over again. I have to get the situation under control. Not only that I have to kill the two, but I also must make sure to give Lara a safespot at least.

I do the easy things first:

6xVU4Hv.png
n6acnF2.pngDLAp1gx.png
uxVdNL7.pngbiG7i5V.png
Getting rid of all the Loptian douches.

ZExwitC.png
The civilians are safe!

Maybe not anymore...

FROmanU.png
2/2 down

UpsNfCD.pngDHGUFFp.png
The way to the goldmine is free now.

Enemy Phase

qqh0fzq.png
... I moved Lithis.

Don't ask me why.

You can guess what will go to happen...

5wvQ9f7.pngniACEu1.png
...I'm an IDIOT!!!

I NEED MY DANCER!!!

Have to replay from turn 2 all over again since it's the turn when the ambush soliders appear for the firs time.

Turn 2

Player Phase

XwELXkU.png
fiyNTzW.pngpye0Zmt.png
Bad playing is rewarded.

QyAoVXn.png
This time I gave Lithis a weapon, so Nanna and him will block them.

Ambush spawn never really bothered me in this game... until this chapter.

Enemy Phase

OEsUJ1T.png
Here they come!

kqtyobc.pngFrdnmAH.png
WTH!? He gets ONESHOTTED!!!

VuvF3pb.png
At least Lara did better.

Turn 3

OyqIv6N.png
I don't care for Lithis. I don't need him anymore. He'll stay dead. Also leaving him dead will unlock a little cookie in the last chapter.

LEtrOxQ.png
I have to admit these guys are really strong. Didn't expect that at all.

Player Phase

rpZ32y7.png
Mareeta barely can take two hits.

DVx3FYE.png
She also is the best to kill the disarmed hero.

idqiuUR.png
Again 1 HP away.

CqNtf9P.png
But this time she crits.

nszHZaH.png
Ugh...Nanna can be 2RKO'ed. And she can get attacked three times.

hdfkIV9.pngolPENcO.png
She definitely needs heal.

EBoqIqd.png
Schroff does it.

lm7eIiS.png
hXY2Ntd.png
Nothing has been changed in this area. All bishops are defeated, so the NPCs are safe.

PuPDP9R.pngA9QTMzz.pngz7vm6Gu.png
Let's open this door. I don't remember what was behind of that.

I can say: absolutely nothing!

The most pointless door in Fire Emblem.

Enemy Phase

IiGtJII.png
I'm a bit worried about Nanna.

0lmlrlI.png

16haQjT.pngG73csCE.png
There goes the hel.

ZY9GNRv.png
No, please!

1xWHOZL.png
Oof...these guys are superscary.

Turn 4

Player Phase

VzH3szd.pngFF2es4Z.png
very nice

d7bT405.png
Xavier has the magic now to tank a few bishops.

C1Tc9SX.pnga2tMEju.png
With happing the paragon sword equipped, nothing can happen to Mareeta.

Enemy Phase

iZgKcOU.png

PSeH8QL.png
ouch

3LI8g5t.png
...Shoot...He could reach Pan.

I have tons of close calls so far yet...

rn5k86N.png

EmrKcna.png2aNn4iK.png
Holy... another one!

This guy had move movement that he should have.

xiqAr4F.pngP1Iz7cV.pngDXlA7qc.png
Mareeta can settle this easily.

Turn 5

This chapter is way more stressful than I expected to be.

Two deaths (one of them resetted) and at least in four more situations someone could have been died.

Player Phase

V9onnqr.pngEdATs74.png
Misha's levels ups have been really great so far.

pxGHKLn.pnglkyK6fD.png

gWb9vlt.pngrWEO0nD.png
Misha may move again.

Also be careful and don't place anymore near the wall because the master bow sniper and the heroes (including Gaius) can attack there.

OAJeu8K.png0RfotbY.png
...*sighs*

The downside of staves in FE5...

QAFrv5B.png
...Though it's not that I have not been prepared for this case.

cdmtNbv.png
This is the berserk sage who gets captured.

LBiZl1R.png
Lara will not be only the dancer, but also the Merlinus.

HXtZa6C.png
So far, so good!

All the bishops have been disabled.

Now I have to wait for the civilians.

However it will take some time since they have only two movement.

Enemy Phase

fbAwbDI.png
Linoan shall "tank".

He HP and defense should be barely enough to take a hit.

vgOF7Nq.png
...or not.........DANG IT!!!

NOOOOOOOOOO; NOT HER, NOT BEST FE5 GIRL!!!

cries

Oof, here is hoping Lara is ok.

Everything will be fine...

The most pointless door in Fire Emblem.

That is the hiding place of the only secret shop in the game. If you managed to not kill (although capturing and releasing is OK) any of the Leonster soldiers in chapter 18 you get a member card, and if someone warps/rewarps to that door with the member card they can buy stat boosters from it for 8000 a pop, and you can only buy until your inventory fills up. I have only ever bother with it once, and it wasn't worth the effort.

Yeah, its one of those odd things to note about how wildly generic enemy's stats can vary, that they can proc movement growths, although I have never seen an enemy with more than one extra move.

I can't bring it over my heart.

Turn 3

Player Phase

NNyNnSY.png
XuWLYOt.png
I simply underrated the enemy. I never expected that the soldiers have >_ 30 attack.

Nanna can take two hits when she has the paragon sword equipped.

So Mareeta can capture the bishops one by another.

XuWLYOt.png
This is the fenrir bishop. Since I don't need this time, he may be killed.

Enemy Phase

Nanna does splendid.

Turn 4

Player Phase

Oho...dark bishop spawns. Since he spawns in an isolated area, he has rewarp for sure. More nice stuff to capture.

NWHTda1.png
No, he has an unlock staff to open the door.

AGnskeb.png
Everyone starts to move now.

I'm not too concerned about that.

I just need Mareeta here in time to let her talk to Galzus.

Also I wouldn't be sad at all, if Galzus activated move again because so he could get out the attack range of the other enemies. His recruitment would become  a lot easier.

Turn 7

WDsUChO.pngFYFCs6R.png
This is just a stationary door opener.

Means that the fight with Galzus will be brought to the player automatically.

Mareeta: It's you...The swordsman that rescued me... I always hoped I'd see you again.

Galzus: What'd you come back here for!? You're still just a little girl... Swords ain't toys, you know!

Mareeta: Back then, when I was possessed by that cursed blade, I had a vision of my father. We were separated when I was very young, but I still remember him clearly. He was a towering mountain of a man, strong as an ox, and yet... gentle. Galzus the sellsword... You're... It's you! You're my father!

Galzus: Ah...!

Mareeta: Why aren't you sayin' anything?! Please! Please, just answer me!

Galzus: I... You don't blame me...?

Mareeta: I'm the one to blame... Those slavers only caught hold of me because I didn't listen to you. Besides, I wasn't their prisoner for very long.Commander Eyvel rescued me just after it happened. I never held a grudge against you, Father!

Galzus: ...I'm sorry. I searched for a long time, but you never turned up... Besides, with the man I am now... with all the blood I've got in my hands...I figured it was better if you didn't have anything to do with me, wherever you were.

Mareeta: Just like that...?! It doesn't matter what's happened since then! We'll always be family...!

Galzus: ...That lady, the swordsman who got turned to stone... She's the one who rescued you from those slavers, right? The one who's raised you ever since?

Mareeta: That's right...

Galzus: ...Then there's no way I'm leavin' her behind. A man of Isaach always repays his debts!

This doesn't look bad at all! Leif can easily ORKO him, if he hits twice and Raydrik doesn't activate great shield. Leif can make advantage of a pillar which gives him a slight defense and evasion boost.

LET'S DO IT!!!

Here we go!

Open this chest, only if you're absolutely confident!

This will unlock the last gaiden of the game, and this one is not fun to play, if you play this game for the first time. The Kaia staff is the only staff which can restore Eyvel and it's also the only staff which can restore Veld's stone attack, but you don't entirely need it because Veld can easily be defeated without giving him a turn to attack. The only reason to play 24x is for the plot because of re-recruiting.......and maybe if you're low on (re)warp staves. Otherwise don't do it! 24x isn't worth the effort. It's more pain, than it's beneficial.

Time to celebrate the victory!

hyY9yW2.png
Apperently Raydrik's wish was granted...

Augustus: Some wicked force is at work here, of that I have no doubt. The whole castle is enveloped in a foul energy... I suspect it's connected to that secret temple of the Loptian Order, which lies underneath this very castle. Until that vile place is reduced to rubble, we cannot consider Manster truly liberated.

Leif: A secret temple... So this is Loptians's stronghold in Thracia.

Indeed. The man in charge of the temple is a bishop named Veld - he's a close friend and confidant to Manfroy himself.

Bishop Veld... What kind of man is he?

He leads the parish of Loptians that infest Thracia with their presence. It is his responsibility to oversee the region's child hunts - and to sic the Welkenrosen on any villages who resist. Raydrik was little more than Veld's pawn. And according to the prisoners we've rescued since, it was he who turned Lady Eyvel to stone.

Wh-What?! That's unforgivable! This man, Veld... He's the spider at the center of it all... Speaking of which, Augustus... Now that Eyvel's rescue is within our grasp, what can we do to cure her?

As I mentioned before, the staff of Kaia could free her, but only those of Manfroy's bloodline can wield it. We're no closer to finding a solution to that dilemma than when we first fled Castle Manster...

So after all this, we're still just as powerless?! We can't save Eyvel... ?! Argh... Was all this just a waste?!

rzbGVck.pngPO6BZ8F.png24vuUQQ.pngFBtTysK.png
That's when Sarah comes in game. Since she's the only one who can use the Kaia staff, she has to be kept alive till chapter 24.

Next chapter...oh boy... I could write an essay about it.

Quote

Ouch, that is tragedy. Her death also triggers Dean to leave your army just to make her death even worse.

For the story it is, but Dean isn't needed anymore since remaining chapters take place only indoor.

PS: I am speaking in active incorrectly since I couldn't bring it on to let her be dead.

What perfect timing, capping level just when he killed Raydrik.

There are some tricks that make it a little easier, for example the warp tiles only trigger when you chose the wait command, so if you can end your unit's turn some other way you wont be warped. Good luck its a tricky chapter.

He is alright indoors thanks to a base A rank swords, but he is much than when outdoors, so fair enough.

Chapter 24x Part 1

Spoiler

Battle Preparations

Jlskj5F.pngKYXaaZU.pngIL2Leoa.png

I might repeat when I say bring staff users, but this appliers more now than ever before.

If you want to save Eyvel - which is not obligatory I'm pretty sure - bring Sarah with the Kaia staff equipped.

There are a few chests, so bring a thief or door / chest keys.

Wq2LGtZ.png
an Eyvel statue in the darkness

UFg4edE.png

Leif: It certianly looks how you'd expect a hidden Loptian enclave to. Everything is so dark, I barely can see past my own nose. Where could Eyvel be?

Augustus: That I don't know, I'm afraid. We've little choice but to search until we find her. But be wary: I have intelligence stating that the Loptians have worked their foul magic to place invisible traps throughout this area. They can be walked across safely, but once one stands on them for too long, they are teleported to a nearby execution chamber. Once used by the Loptians to eliminate dissidents in their ranks, they've repurposed it as a line of defense against us. I know not exactly where these traps are, but we should not linger for too long near doors, on staircases, or in narrow corridors. If one of our own should happen to be teleported to the execution chamber, however, there's no exit - we must use our teleportation magic to retrieve them. In fact, we'll have to use the Loptians's own magic against them to find Veld: an enchanted circle in the center chamber teleports one directly to the altar he's retreated to. After we've rescued Lady Eyvel, we should make our own way there and use the circle to finally confront Veld. Above all else, my prince, stay calm and advance slowly and carefully. You've come too far to get careless now.

Map

F2CFIQx.pngxRBzB2I.png

The party is split in two groups.

L2YtLTc.pngxx7zuxn.png

You have to go a non straight path northwards to rescue Eyvel.

pWp2OCE.png
Stone brings each stat to zero as sleep does.

The difference is just only the Kaia staff can restore it.

In the center chamber you have to go around is the exit.

It's an escape mission.

I already mentioned in chapter 24, you should skip this chapter if you are playing this chapter for the first time without using a guide.

Augustus mentioned what the deal of this chapter is: There are invisible traps, spots which teleport the unit directly to an isolated area. There's no way to escape aside of being rescued. If you're out of rescue staves and a non rewarp user falls for the trap, it's the equal to death. I don't know who made this thought to bring such an idiotic gimmick like this to Fire Emblem.

Anyways these traps are not the only issue.

Like chapter 21x and chapter 24 there are enemies with status affecting staves and even warp. It's the only main story chapter you have to deal with warp staves on an enemy. And they can warp a hero on you. Though thankfully - as in 21x - the warp users only start to become active in turn 2, so you can focus on the other threats first.

Turn 1

Player Phase

This turn also requires some preparations.

Olwen will take the main role.

oYktKxu.png
1.Using ensorcel on Olwen.

HeyTSR9.png
2. Warping Olwen to a space next to the exit.

1SzNn2J.png
Welcome to hel!

IlZ6bby.png
I forgot to this dude - he has a berserk staff, so get rid of him at once.

Also in this champter these purple tiles give +10 magic to everyone which means the enemies hit harder, but they also can use their status affecting staves on high magic staff users.

QsYMe1o.png
First major threat is dead.

urgs8s8.png
great level up

daN1eYf.png
The Loptians left and right of the bishop both have fenrir and silence / sleep. These are the next enemies who have been disabled.

You can see the buffed magic.

No one can use a status affecting staff on him without having a magic boost.

Bn7JhCC.pngeth9udh.png
Almada who makes a guest appearance uses ensorcel on Linoan.

0o7CD0a.pngEVpHOkl.png
Time for some fun!

U8JewxX.png
Asbel gives the sight.

HG8x6h0.png
You see berserkers and two Loptian Bishops.

a6ZQj5s.png6ic920O.png
These berserkes hit hard and they all have wrath. Don't face them with someone who has vantage.

RemWs3x.pngvoQuq1L.png
The two Bishops are the warp users I mentioned before. They can't use warp yet because no physical enemy is around them. This will change once reinforcements appear which will happen after the first turn already, but I never saw them using warp in the first turn. This would take the cake!

They are placed in this execution chamber. There's still one reason to get land on one of these warptiles: for capturing the warp staves

BqcAWa9.png

xfy3vwz.pngxfy3vwz.pnglb1gZlJ.png
Safiya can put this guy to sleep without a magic buff since he has <10 magic.

All important things are done.

sMMdHUf.pngnBb70Q8.png
I could have waited for one more turn, but better too early than too late.

37Z4HIe.png
Sarah can move again.

tGrMuhF.pngbXGDjBk.pngrNP2LfY.png
a perfect first player phase

I could dismantle all staff users who have the potential to cause much trouble.

So far this chapter is not too bad. Similar to chapter 24 just with the difference that you wouldn't know what to do since it's a FoW map.

reinforcements

7tmtzX6.pngQjn4Hdw.png

1r9higv.png6lJYfxI.png
Mareeta capped several stats already.

Killing a beserker gives tons of experience.

4MwtSDf.pngDJHx3P6.png
I never mentioned it: Once someone is berserked, their allies automatically target the beserked unit. It's superfun to watch making sucicide on each other.

The main reason I used berserk, was to save uses of Olwen's Dire Thunder. She has only ~15 uses left.

KWtILGe.png
more rewarp crap

I'm not opposed to see them because it means more rewarp to capture.

KCUC4hE.png
Four of them spawn in each enemy phase.

sves5VP.png
too late, my friend!

Turn 2

Player Phase

B9weRNt.pngWNstrg7.png
Tbh these enemies aren't that threatening.

AhANOfU.png
The reinforcements all have hel which is not cool if it hits.

Bg6jLD9.png4ur2hrZ.pngRNf1Sny.pnggETQMcf.png2tHKvUc.pngERZk0Az.png662j4Fd.pngvtkfQrm.png
This went well! Not only that all enemies have been eliminated, even one rewarp could have been captured.

GlrqVDd.png
Olwen will stay there till the end.

UiIlkk8.png
The two groups are close of being reunited.

No one has been fallen for the trap.

Enemy Phase

pPjluVw.png
Another fun fact is that the enemies poison on each other which means they'll eventually die automatically.

11YiS9m.png
The next wave of reinforcements rewarps to Olwen, so she's trapped. It doesn't bother me at all.

Also I think it's only three reinforcements per enemy phase.

The four who spawned in turn 1, don't have to be reinforcements.

7Z4wvkY.png
WHAT!? The berserked silence staff mage uses silence on me.

Turn 3

Player Phase

QoUyXMx.pngtfmY5TG.png
By using the Holy Sword, her resistance is even higher now.

47CGow9.png
You get an impression how far the way to the exit chamber is.

pCLYqNa.pngRFNrTPe.png
Safiya warps Galzus to the execution chamber to let him grab the warp staves.

u7XbWd6.png
Unfortunately he doesn't activate move again, so he'll have to deal with halved stats in the enemy phase. Though I'm fairly sure he'll survive.

VjB2itL.pngjEqhEB8.png
Nanna restores silenced Sarah.

uYJ6F64.pngbbx2RCn.pngvIEg5Bq.png
Linoan has the chest keys.

L6ALbwW.pngMODEUwQ.png
Of course the berserker could oneshot her, but I trust the 66% evasion!

Enemy Phase

zeiLfF0.png
Oh no! The other promoted enemy in the chamber has a sleep sword, so Galzus is defenseless now.

5W5RQrD.pngsGSN0Vz.png
At least Linoan does fine.

Alt5epH.png
Waaah - he could double her.

I forgot that tomes have no weapon weight buffer in this game.

z4BR3JX.png
Not half as bad!

Li7D9FJ.png
This is funny: Since the venin bow hit Galzus, his status ailment changed from sleep to poison which is much better for me.

s8EtodH.png
Of course by having the sword equipped, she can't kill much.

NmZRKYw.png
And again berserked enemy targets me.

Though I should not complain: Can be happy that Linoan survived.

Turn 4

U6BHxup.png
The reinforcements warped to Galzus.

Player Phase

4GTDoZE.png
Hel has 56% - WHAT!?

At least she has 99% with Dire Thunder.

b9bCSqb.png
Even with halved stats Galzus has no issues to wreck the mages.

q358y5H.png
Sarah rescues him and may move again.

AFJ4tnN.png
Uses ensorcel on Ced.

p20zyTw.png
😞

mZWT26J.png
😄

Safiya warps Ced to the exit chamber

Vr2K9Gj.png
to let him support Olwen.

47qFLc2.png
QURcgO5.png
Still no end in sight...

And still no one got trapped.

Enemy Phase

IE0t0Gq.png9Z2AqHG.png

BcDWP5K.png
Five mages spawned here. I'm not sure I'll be able to take them all out in the upcoming turn because not everyone is in their attack range.
