Darkened Hearts: Update 3

Hello, I'm fairly new to the ROM hacking scene in general, and I decided to try making my own FE8 ROM hack. I'm currently still in the prep phase, as I do not even have a title yet. What I do need is some testers who are willing to play this single short map and give me some advice on how to proceed. I am also giving the base stats and growths for the current characters (who are just re-colors for now) so if you can't play it right now you can hopefully give some useful character tips. Anything helpful you could tell me about what I did right and wrong will be useful. I hope this is the start of a brand new, amazing project.

Update 3: Hello, it has been some time. I've been distracted from this project for personal reasons, but I am back and have a huge update. First, this has a title now! It will make sense as I go further with the project. Secondly, I have switched to FE8 in order to take advantage of certain patches to provide a larger amount of options in term of characters I can make and that you can use. I have currently finished up to chapter 5.

Alright, I played it already.

One of the first things I must note is that your characters are all pretty beefy, the enemies are very weak so I think you should at least lower your units' bases a bit so that it's more balanced. Really the only problem was Gallom's hit and it's still pretty good since the enemies are so weak but I imagine they were FE7 borrows so can't say much about that. Cameron is very powerful though, even if you buff the enemies his strength base must lower to 13 or 14 I say.

The enemy composition was also kinda bland, just brigands, an archer here and there would have been kind of cool but yeah first map and all that.

About the map though, it's way too perfect with symmetrical shapes here and there, with nature you've got to have a few irregularities around. Some tips for map decoration are to use more than 1 tile to decorate the battleground, if you look at Lyn's first map you can see different shades of grass on the ground that kind off diferentiate it from the rest and makes it more colorful.

For a demo map it's fine I guess, so I'm willing to see what progress you make.

I beated in: 4 turns

LTC: 3

This seems interesting. Wasn't too hard, but if that's the idea, that's fine. As far as things that would be nice to see? Well, do things that you enjoy doing, it's more fun when it's not something that you find a total drag.
