What exactly is the Loptian Fang?

So, one thing that I was constantly wondering about during my recent first playthrough of Thracia 776 is what the hell the Loptian Fang is, and what its relationship with the Bragi Blade is. Apparently the Loptian Fang is a sword, infused with some kind of dark power, which has the exact same defensive effect as the Loptyr tome, and said effect is so powerful that a divine weapon like Forseti is just as useless against someone using the Loptian Fang as it is against Julius himself. Is it actually a sword infused with Loptyr's literal power? If so, does that mean that the Bragi Blade could hurt Julius, and that Leif spent more than half of the second generation in possession of a sword capable of hurting Julius and never told anyone?

Loptian Fang?

Oh, you mean the Loptyr Sword of Reydrick? Is that from the Exile fan translation? Anyway...

While the effect is the same, it's not quite the same thing. THe property of the tome comes from Loptyr himself. While the sword has a curse made by the cult that is meant to emulate the tome's. So no, the Braggi Sword wouldn't be able to negate the Loptyr Tome's effect since it's a more powerful condition than the sword's.

But it's still strong enough to fare identically against Forseti, a tome made by a borderline god?

Because, again, it's the same kind of effect. Consider this, it's possible the Braggi Sword carries holy/light power. If you consider the Magic triangle to be more than just gameplay, Dark beats Anima, while Light beats both. So, an Anima power like Forseti will be disadvantaged to Loptyr's dark power; and likewise to the cult's curse of the Loptyr Sword; but the likly Holy power of the Braggi Blade will not. However, the holy power of the sword isn't as powerful as the holy power of the Naga Tome, so while powerful to dispel a cultist's curse, Loptyr's power can still be more powerful to be overridden.

But that just begs the question of how they made something like that, and what's so special about Bragi's blade in comparison to normal light magic attacks.

It's hard to say. Little is known of the Braggi Blade outside being usable by anyone with Holy Blood. So, to be more exact, a blood-bond with dragons. We could speculate it was made by Braggi himself. Perhaps his dragon was a Divine for all we know. Though one weaker than Naga, naturally.
