If you can restart your life, what are some alternative choices that you would make about your life?

For me, I will probably not major in accounting and would major in bio or chem instead and do nuclear med. My friend's boyfriend says his job is pretty easy and he is earning six freaking figures with no debt.

I will probably NOT play Heroes and go with a cheaper hobby like Cipher.

I want to get into Dungeons and Dragons sooner, so I can collect the really pretty alternate covers for their early books. The alternative covers for early books are like super expensive right now.

I would also invest in BitCoin instead of LEGO sets. I guess by extension I might as well try to win a lottery or two as well.

I would ask more girls out at school, and act less nerdy and learn more about fashion.

I also want to adopt a few more cats.

I would try to use my  brain from time to time. I basically have three friends at my school and everyone else is annoyed by me because I am kinda crazy. Otherwise, I would also not play soccer for so long, get into FE earlier and get a computer so I can actually communicate before I become 10. (I have a disorder which essentially means my fine motor skills are nonexistent, despite the two things I'm good at are reading and to some extent, writing. I always got atrocious grades because nobody could read a word I wrote.)

Be more social, don't isolate myself from others, and keep in touch with others because that caused me a lot of problems, which I'm now working on

Tell myself to do keto from an earlier age so I wouldn't get as big as I got.

Get into raising chickens at a younger age

Buy as much power 9 in the 2000's so I could retire today

unfortunately the two biggest things that i would like done differently are out of my control, like a chronic illness that runs on my dad's side with no way to prevent or cure, and a learning disability in math so severe that only the most basic ass problems aren't a nightmare for me

most of the stuff i would have like to have done differently is stand up for myself/get back at people who hurt me, even if there would be consequences for me...its better than being a doormat and letting people do whatever the hell they want to you -- my parents, brother, the kids who bullied me all-throughout school and my former best-friend turned abuser who would say/do too much awful shit to list + tried to spread rumors about me and make it look like they were the victim to the point where I LITERALLY ended up in the hospital once and nearly several other times due to diabetic ketoacidosis due to constant high blood sugars/lack of sleep from the intense stress i was under

i shoulda saved the logs but i'm a dumbass BUT on the other hand i don't think its safe for me to read any of them again...its ok though because i completely cut off ties with them and i have no idea where they're at nowadays

THOUGH now that i think about it the smartest thing for me to wish was different was to never have gotten close to them in the first place to have avoid all of that trauma-- i still think they deserve the worst though

other things i would have liked to have done differently is

- done a better job filtering what i looked at/who i chose to hang out with on the internet when i was 11-16 because that shit does a number on you

- figured out how to get therapy sooner so maybe i could handle my bpd better

- figuring out how to call child services as a kid on my parents maybe(not that i'd expect anything to come of it)

- try to pursue becoming youtube/instagram/influencerwhatever famous like sure people would think i'm a total sellout and hate me but at least i'd have money possibly!!!

- not denying myself and wasting so many years hurting myself by pretending to be straight because i chose one of the worst people to out myself as bisexual to when i was 14 and they convinced me i was doing it for """attention"""

jokes on them i'm still very much bi and also non-binary

Had you asked me this 8 years ago I would've had a long list of things, probably leading with work harder in school.

But right now, I realize very clearly that the mistakes I've made have led me to where and who I am today, and I wouldn't give that up for the world.

Starting with programming, drawing and learning japanese earlier.

School always gave me the impression that I have no talent for languages, which is why I was so hesitant about starting with japanese. Now I realise, while I need longer time I already learned quite a lot on which I can be proud of, and that the school system has a lot to improve.

Same goes for drawing. Sometimes I did it, but never so focused like now..

Instead I should have skipped on trying to study meteorology. Or at least have come earlier to the conclusion that it won't work out.

Socialising more.. I still feel so blind regarding social skills. xD Cannot really read others and such. Even in games like Werewolf I see so much that I have no ability to influence the game.

I would want to have more confidence in my own abilities. Also, after middle school, I wish I had read more often. I don't have as much time as I'd like to read and I wish I had read Elric, The Black Company, Kane series, Clark Aston Smith etc. when I was in High School. It would have helped me to read these series/authors work when my emotions were still raw and powerful. These are some of the legendries I sought for a long time and only discovered in the last few years.

I'd like to know who wouldn't do this if they had the foresight.

I'd probably try to work up the guts to become a lawyer or have work skills that can actually be considered marketable and not make it such a struggle for me to find a decent job.  Especially if I knew where journalism was going to end up by the time I graduated.

I'd internalize my personal issues more and not talk about them since every time I did it just resulted in a lot of headache for everyone around me and made me more miserable when I was younger.

I would do everything possible to not eat as much as I did so I didn't have a fat phase that even today I'm trying to improve.

I'd probably try to be more social, but honestly most of the people I knew in middle school and high school were the sort of people I never would have wanted to associate myself with.  Not sure what I could do about that.

as someone who majored in biochem, can tell you this is not the usual case. life sciences field generally requires secondary schooling if you want to make higher salary/have more power. i do enjoy my current job, and it is very easy, but it does not make as much as some of my friends in other field.

i think i would have majored in engineering or comp sci. its not that i am unhappy with my current discipline, i do love science. but i feel that i would have to do less school for the salary i want in those fields.

i would have done nothing different that doesn't involve obscene foresight like 'i would have guessed the correct lottery numbers on January 7th, 2011' or 'i would have poured my life savings into google stock as a seven year old'

There's one thing, and exactly one thing. However, this one thing, being the worst thing that lead down what appeared to be the worst path, ultimately lead into the best one.

Yeah, that is why I want to go into nuclear med if I can have a do over. Based on what he told me, the job is super chill, and you basically just inject people or have them drink something mildly radioactive and then scan them through a machine.

Hey, you never know! Kids these days all want iPads, so a savvy investor parent might get their kid an Apple stock through a trust fund or something. If their kid gave sound financial advice, they would have a pretty big pay day when they become adults.

Kids sometimes have a clearer perspective on what is good and what is not since they are not clouded by the academic mumbo jumbo and they just instinctively know.
