If the focus was more on new stages, which ones would you use, if you were Sakurai?

One thing I’ll never not be disappointed about with Ultimate, even if it’s nothing important, is the fact that old stages took such a priority that there are a grand total of 15 new stages (4 base game, 5 in FP Vol. 1, and 6 in FP Vol. 2). If it were up to me, I’d have way less than a hundred (probably 67 at most for the base game; 45 new stages, 22 old ones). Some of the stages I’d include are:

-Super Bell Hill (3D World)

-Gangplank Galleon (Donkey Kong)

-Clock Town (Majora’s Mask)

-King Bowser’s Halls (Wooly World)

-Ripple Star (Kirby 64)

-Aether Paradise (Sun and Moon)

-8-Bit Glacier (Ice Climber)

-Temple of Mila (Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia)

-Opera House (Fates)

-8-Bit Kid Icarus (a stage that travels between the Underworld, Overworld, and Skyworld)

-Studiopolis Zone (Sonic Mania)

-Gyromite (a game of Gyromite with a R.O.B. toy in the living room in the background; the game takes place inside the TV)

-Vega Stage (Street Fighter)

MUST...HOLD...BACK...METAL...GEAR...BIAS...DON'T...SAY...BIG...SHELL...AAAAAAH

Ok in all seriousness, I'm gonna try no to include 3rd party titles outside of Sonic in order to keep things at least somewhat realistic. In any event, here's some ideas I got out of brainstorming they you didn't already bring up yourself:

  • Stage based on virtual boy
    • Maybe cycle between different games like Flat Zone?
  • A stage to properly represent the Archanea FE games.
    • Dragon's Table
    • Fane of Raman
    • The assault on Archanea Palace against Hardin in the War of Heroes?
      • Could re-contextualize the stage "Castle Assault" to be the set in the kingdom of Archanean's palace, utilizing different banners
        • Replace the figure that was originally Black Knight which appears in the background to be Hardin instead
        • Maybe change the red flag/banner that appears in the out-door section to bare the Archanea coat of arms from the old FE TCG?
    • The assault on the Dohlr Keep from the endgame of the War of Shadows
      • Same as the Archanea Palace idea only with Medeus in the background
    • Thabes
      • Could feature hazards relating to magical attacks and such
    • Anri's Way
      • Could cycle through different maps locations from along Anri's Way including the Desert of Death/Thabes, Flame Barrel, and the Ice Dragon Shrine
  • A stage to represent Binding Blade (and by extension the GBA era of FE)
  • A stage to properly represent the Telius FE games
    • Tower of Guidance (Tower that part 5 of RD takes place in)
    • Greil Mercenaries old base from PoR
    • Either bridge map
    • The massive courtyard at the Daein palace the PoR endgame is set in
  • A stage based on the peak of Mount Silver from pokemon gold and silver
  • A stage based on Station Square from Sonic Adventure while Perfect Chaos is causing destruction
    •  Maybe take place on a rooftop or something
    • Perfect Chaos could attack somehow, acting as a stage hazard
  • A Wario Land stage
  • A stage set in some location from the "Mario and Luigi" rpg series
  • A Zelda Link to the Past stage since Zelda's Ultimate design is from said game...if thats possible

Aaaand that's all I can really think of that you didn't already bring up.

Oh and also, a side note. I don't think SoV or Fates need stages as the Arena Ferox stage kind of exists to represent the 3DS era of Fire Emblem. That's just my opinion anyway.

Fates I understand, but in all fairness, Temple of Mila is originally from Gaiden, which means I'm technically representing the NES era.

That's a fair point.
