Like reminding them they're bad at fighting with a slap like Clifford? Or trying to not let them fight by not letting them join the army in the first place like Ward?

Wait, what? Ward let Christine join. He just didn't acknowledge her existence for the most part.

When you think about it, no one seems to know how to gently talk people out of an idea in this game.

That much is true. Well, except for Herman. He has a talent for talking Volcens out of every good idea he has.

What about this version?
Holy shit... that's... that's a version of RickRoll? Really?

Thought so. I mean, it seems to fit with the red knight/green knight thing for one of them to have that sort of approach to things. See Kreiss and Arkis last game, or even Kent and Sain's supports in FE7 (where Sain gives Kent advice on getting with Lyn). Personally, I like the dynamic when it's there... not that I miss it over-much when it's absent.
If there is one thing Kaga loves, it's his dynamics.

If I ever get round to New Mystery, I'm going to inevitably use Samto as a sort of spiritual successor to the Ukyo gag. Don't think I won't. I've done stupider things for a joke.
Hey, I sold my entire convoy once just to forge a silver lance for Macellan to kill Medeus with. I can totally understand.

Why does this remind me of the old Donald Duck theme?
I don't know, it's just the old Narcian quote I so love to use.

Not to mention millions of people who literally died because of him. He caused so many deaths, it's believed that he set climate change back a significant amount. There's a reason he's historically significant. He was one of the most successful dictators of all time, taking over a large portion of the Eurasian landmass, and building it into an empire that would last until after his death. He wasn't around to witness it coming apart. If Karma is truly a thing, the man dodged it like a pro.

He must've sacrificed so many children to the RNGoddess to avoid karmic justice... I must hasten my pace.

I have made some use of the condition. When I can't sleep, my sleep deprived brain has ideas... some of which I'd never have in a fully awake state. As long as I can remember them when I'm  in a fully awake state, I can expand them into something else. Plans for maps in Fire Emblem, ideas for stories, song parodies, devices. The stray thoughts in that unfocused state can be converted by my more conscious self into something useful. Downside is, it really sucks the fun out of the rest of the day when it acts up.

Well, that's one way to look at it, I suppose.

Rudolf sacrificed more than his image. He sacrificed his life. Catch is his plan made significantly less sense than Ward's.
Ahahahahahah... Maybe Rudolf was just going senile and that's how he came up with his plan?

Which would honestly explain why he never becomes aware in the event she dies out on a map. Well played Kaga.
Well played indeed. He made Volcens so dumb and incompetent that he explains every single potential plothole just by existing. Genius.

A fun little fact with Ukyo is that before playing the chapter, I had no idea what animations I'd been using... so I took screenshots of him using the dodge (a sidestep from Samurai Shodown 3, the game I took the sprites from), his desperation attack (a severely damaging attack that can be used when low on health), and one of his palette swaps. The idea being to have him with his alternate palette if he attacked as an enemy, the dodge if he avoided something (obviously), and of course the desperation attack in the event he procced a crit. I even went so far as to get a death quote ready. In the event I never use any of it, and finish the game, I'll probably finish off the whole thing with some of those.
I want to see those, but I don't want to wish death upon you... I guess we'll just wait and see.

Let's be fair. Even if it's the case, the problem is Merlinus was always saying it was a trap except when it was. This guy said it when it actually was, so even if he cried wolf ten thousand times, he was vindicated this once. Which is more than can be said for Merlinus.
That much is true. Damned old man... incompetent braggart...!

Oedipus' more wholesome cousin. Both involved a self-fulfilling prophecy/paranoia and the crossing of a river resulting in the fulfillment. The difference here is Reese isn't involved in incest with an actual blood-relative. Something Kaga didn't do first for once.

I like how you had to specify "with an actual blood-relative", because otherwise he absolutely is involved in incest. Tsk, tsk... Kaga, Kaga, Kaga...

How many parallels were there between those two updates? They both involved sleep deprivation, using someone on a wyvern to cross a river and deal with potential threats, annoying archers, a high percent hit that could have been fatal if it missed, a round of combat where both parties dodged (rather unexpectedly) and the boss dying of an electric attack from a healer/magic user.

I... actually, I don't know what update you're talking about. Mind refreshing my memory?

What happens if you Ironman it and kill yourself? Kind of like all your fanfics. I mean, is there one where you haven't died yet in some way shape or form?
Ahahahahah... I mean, technically in FE12 I was only beaten within an inch of my life. Still, I've written my luck to be overall pretty bad. Just like in reality!

Well, it'd explain why he was so irritable. Or maybe suicidal. Or both. Sides, I like to write stupid explanations where there's no need for one.
Keep at it, they're always fun to read.

Valery?
Bwahahahahahahh... I wish, but no.

Still more wholesome than Oedipus.

I guess...

I think this goes beyond stalking into full blown abuse of power/abusive relationship territory. And I mean both. As sad as it is, a successful stalker... is still just a stalker.
Oh yeah, it's pretty horrible...

Someone call Gilbert. Kaga did A Net first.
Kaga was like "now look at this net, that I just found! When I say go, be ready to throw!"

I'm amazed it lagged when entering DP. I was so surprised I'm pretty sure I checked again to be sure. So it did impact gameplay. Also, I know I don't see it quite as ugly as you do, but...

Well, that's probably a matter of tastes, but... c'mon, you have to admit, those jaggies are pretty sad. Then again, I'd take jaggies over an anti-aliasing that might slow the game down even more. The fact that this has to be a choice is... even sadder than the jaggies themselves, actually.

Sad news, it didn't take me long to find a game that might be uglier (I haven't hit performance drops yet, but other than that.....). Look at Daemon Ex Machina, look at how it presents itself and then go "there for teh grace of animu did not go 3H". At least the mechs control nicely enough, though I fear it'll come to a point where I'm only playing it for a lark, at which point I'll need someone else to suffer with.

Ehhhh... from the images I'm seeing, it's stylistically less inspired perhaps. Not very robust, graphically. However, the quality of the models and textures is higher. Also, that game actually seems to have antialiasing.

...Yeah, sorry. I know it's going to sound like I'm just mindlessly hating on 3H as always, but I think that game looks a bit better. It's not great, but it's not the graphical disaster that 3H is.

I gave ending maps as an example. 😛 I'm going to have to revise the whole game so I should have more as part of my rewrite because I am not going through more playthroughs right now. The amount of overlap is a serious issue with each Part 2 and I feel like some choices are strange (Why is Arianrhod a paralogue in AM?).

You're not helping your case here...

Most time I took on a route was my first at 90 and that was me playing as blindly as I could. Not having a Branch of Fate like option for Part 2 was a disappointment personally because unlike in Fates I would have absolutely gone for it.

90?! Holy shit...

Also, I meant 100 in total. Something like 50 hours per route, seeing as I have 2 routes left to play. It's far too much for me to bother without even being sure that I'll enjoy it, I'm sorry.

Alright, but fair warning: I don't know that I'll succeed with doing that.

Wouldn't take much, Byleth's a mess.

I struggled with a masters course for two years and only got a HDip out of it. Not a badly marked one mind, but I was just dead inside.

Sheesh... Well, at least you got something.

Did you know SoV was one of the first things I did afterwards? Maybe that explains some of my opinions.

Could be, yeah...

It kinda is one of Joey's though. How you doin', to be precise.

Okay, I will give you that much.

Went in having not slept at all that night (The sun was rising. I know it's June and I'm at a higher latitude, but still), decided to do it.

Now that was a great idea.

I don't think this map is amazing (I was able to stay mostly in the centre), but it was a fun experience trying to beat the boss with as little of their BS as possible. Because there is some BS there.

Well, I'm glad you had fun, at least.

Feels weird being considered a black knight.

That's what happens when you change your profile picture every other week. Memes get outdated real fast.

So, let's talk music. Berwick is probably better than a couple of other soundtracks too, just that PoR is an easy one to use due to the comparisons already made and PoR is I think the worst musically. It's not going to be better than Genealogy though, which is my favourite pre-modern FE soundtrack. SoV currently sits on top and 3H is below Genealogy (GASP. Although that might change, the Thunder tracks have made a compelling reason for me to do so.), so this should give you an idea of where I'm at.

I see.

I'm... unsure how I'd rank FE soundtracks, actually. I like most of them equally, with a few stand-out tracks in each game. Modern FE and Berwick are a step above the rest. That's the best I can give you, really.

Ah, reading. Words end up blending together sometimes and I am a relatively patient reader.

Hah! Yeah... that's what I was saying.

As for horse HP, it's just a problem I had.

I can understand it.

The image, I have to find a way to use it.

Please do.

So wait, Vanmillion's her uncle?

I guess so.

Yeah, he is.

On 3H, Falcoknight Catherine's really good. Critical for that finale in SS where I used all the faculty.

I never bothered reclassing her.

Bs8nwu8m oMisery calls to me.

Of course it does...

Y8ew3fye oMY APOLOGIES OLD MAN

Need I point to Chapter 5?

It's the exception that confirms the rule. Normally everything goes horrendously.

Pobpolog oDammit she's got me there.

Gotem with his own words.

Maybe she was sent there to be safe when it started looking like Raze would start wrecking house?

That wouldn't be the first time a kid was sent to her grandparents to be safe.

That makes sense.

Can she use the force too?

Eeehhh... no. I don't think so.

And is Enid really that good?

Heheheheheheh... watch and learn, my friend. You might be surprised. Or, I could lose her. That could also happen.

Reese?

Bs8nwu8m oYes?

Because I haven't see this other person yet.......

HJ.png.2363cc1bc9bd99235900be81dfe1da9d.png

Two things.

1- He isn't even returning her feelings right now. Mostly because he has no feelings of his own.

2- I love how you keep using that portrait of him.

I guess mithril is just a common thing in Lebron.

If they're looking for it to be used like this in a time of war......

I mean, if there's a mine right there, I can see them using it for that kinda purpose. Attract tourists to the national center of mithril, and all.

Oh god, it's that hellspawn I heard about.

What hellspawn? You mean Theodore, right?

Either he's being honest and Theodore is a terrible man......

or he is a liar about what Theodore's been doing and a potential monster himself, which may be why Minas left him........

OR both are horrible people and Minas needs to be free.

Fine theories all.

Point being, a very man-centric perspective here, I feel bad for Minas. Which I shouldn't from what I've heard.

Don't listen to Benice, he's just salty. You very much should feel bad for Minas.

Option 2 might be right after all.

Why? There's nothing wrong with asking a complete stranger to bring your lover back to you in a net.

Also, nets. Sounds like someone should go to jail.

Ergh... heheh... yeah, probably...

Have you not had a lance before now?

Has it been explained yet then?

I've explained the difference between lances and spears before, but we haven't encountered a lance yet. Now we have. We'll see it in action today.

The Chu-Ko-Nu got powercrept?

Kaga, what have you done?

Kaga is a genius. He also has issues. But I suppose they come hand-in-hand, don't they?

At least it's unlikely to double.

Now imagine if Sylvis had Adept...

What's wrong with getting Windstorm?

I am appreciating the extra range on Lightning, but still.

That's exactly it. I wanted the range. For higher damage, he has hellfire. I've no reason to get windstorm right now.

Being kept out of harms way, I'd imagine.
That makes sense, yes.

The game most certainly doesn't do itself any favors by playing them that way.
Oh yeah, as much as I love this game, that's... really weird. The only defense I can think of is that they hadn't exactly grown together. I think they only knew each other for 3 years before Reese left for Narvia, something like that? I think it's reasonable that Lynette never thought of him as a brother.

Still, the fact that the game keeps insisting on refering to them as brothers is dumb. They barely are siblings at all, why refer to them as such? Well, obviously, it's onii-chan bait. No two ways about it, I'm afraid...

She is probably not gonna live that one down.
...urgh...

So Minas is Ravinia then? Too bad Zade didn't have any nets.
Even if he had, approaching the invincible fliers and the siege tome bishop would've been suicide. Guess who performed the aforementioned suicide because he was convinced he had to defeat Zweiras to get his favorite characters and Lianka?

Well, I generally try to avoid using brand new weapons as raw materials, at the very least.

You want me to risk it breaking on green? Because that's going to happen, and you know it as well as I do.

But either way, being able to fire 4 arrows of your choice at an enemy at once is pretty handy.
Finally, we agree on something! Henceforth, this shall be known as Ruben Did Something Right According To Brightbow Day. RDSRABD for short.

Not really a profit, considering you had to pay 3040 for the Chu-Ko-Nu already. Not to mention the money you could have gotten by selling the raw materials.

Well, uh... ah... that is...

...Curse you, Brightbow...!

Speaking of Crossbows, it's kinda funny how Radiant Dawn clearly took that weapon type from Berwick, given that they just so happen to share the same "ignores strength" property, yet they are virtually useless there. Feels like IS has a habit of just throwing stuff together without putting any real thought behind it.

Oh yeah, that's one of the most blatant rip-offs. Alongside Levail. Seriously, Levail and his equivalent from this game even have the same character design. Couldn't they have at least changed that much?

...Well, in all fairness, they did change a key part of his story. But I'm just rambling at this point.

The map and the team. Looking rather empty, isn't it? Enemies will come from the northern roads and the southwestern one. The southeastern road is where we will want to go to escape. We could theoretically just head for the escape point immediately, but there are green units to save. It is mandatory that at least three of them escape. This is harder than it looks, because they won't start escaping right off the bat. You'll see why. After we've helped the civilians, we must escape ourselves, for all that remain after turn 24 will be taken captive.

Anyway, this is the first mission where we won't get a free tactics point for finishing the map. We get one for saving four green units, two for saving all five green units, and a third if we kill a boss that appears on turn 20. You know, of 24. I do have a plan for that, though.

Igzddnhv o

Let's move.

P1ewzfou o

Meoilxpy oThis town of Lebron is the last major settlement that remains free. However, we are surrounded to the west, north and east, and the enemy is quickly on the move. If we do not make haste to the south, we will lose our only route of escape.

Apfsgzcv o

Dvs06coa oI refuse to flee before seeing to it that my people escape.

Meoilxpy oPlease entrust that task to me. I will protect the townspeople. My knights and I will rally the people and oversee their evacuation.

Dvs06coa oI worry that you might find that to be rather difficult... You see, the remaining townspeople no longer trust the military at all. The only person they would be likely to trust is myself or my late husband, Duke Warrenheit...

Lgjkwhcy o Fun fact: Warrenheit, as revealed in a conversation later in this update, is actually the guy's surname. Why his father-in-law and his wife both refer to him by his surname is beyond me.

Lcxxzvok o

9qk5ifz8 o Well, they sure got a ton of mileage out of that robe. This is, what, the fourth person we've seen wearing it? There's even an unused sprite of her without the hood, much like Sarah with Yumil.

Vykh6kks oIf you push yourself too hard, your life will be in danger! Please do as Lord Reese asks and join the caravan back to Narvia.

R9revija oSister Meia, please go with Mother and leave the town together. Leave the townspeople to me.

Dvs06coa oWhat are you saying, Enid? As Lord Reese said, the Imperial Army is rapidly approaching! I need you to stay here until the Sinon Knights signal the withdrawal!

R9revija oMother, please listen to me.

Fu6es5mm o

9qk5ifz8 o Ah, so they do explain it! I had forgotten.

R9revija oBut I just can't do it anymore... I can't sleep at night worrying about you like this! I was so scared for you and Father, and then when he died, I... I didn't know what to do anymore... I'm not going through that again! I won't lose you, Mother!

Dvs06coa oEnid... I'm sorry... You've been through so much... I'm so sorry, my child...

R9revija oMother...!

Tqbmqgcy o

Vykh6kks oI am certain they will. Lady Enid is quite popular among the people of the Lowlands.

Lgjkwhcy o This is what I was talking about earlier. The civilians won't start fleeing until Enid speaks to them. They'll let the Imperials skewer them without moving an inch. Enid's going to have to run circles around the map to convince everyone to try and save their own skin. Not helping matters is the fact that a different person will appear later on that she also has to talk to. It's kinda annoying.

Meoilxpy oIn that case, Sister, I will entrust the Duchess's safety to you. Please take her and any other of Her Grace's servants who remain to the village of Tuarino. There, we will meet you tomorrow with the citizens of Lebron.

Wy5g9swy o

Meoilxpy oYour Grace, I swear it on my life and on the honor of the Knights of Sinon. The time will soon come when we will be forced to choose between the citizens and our lives. When the Empire arrives, I will not hesitate to make that difficult choice.

Uedfz3v4 o Again with this shit! Who said anything about the citizens? She wants you to protect her daughter! Why is everyone so obsessed with this notion that saving the townsfolk will be impossible? They couldn't possibly know I'm the one controlling them, could they...?

R9revija oMother, I trust that Lord Reese will not betray his word. Please, I want you to trust him, too...

Dvs06coa o...I understand. Lord Reese, I place my faith in you.

Y2txkoli o

Gaqmzc0y o

Enid, Meia and... a transporter? Leave the manor.

V9gruhwk o

There's Gonzij. In the Serenes wiki they call him Gonzales, which is pretty hilarious. Also, he reuses Gasch's sprite. I just hope Enid won't have to talk to this one three times to get him to see reason...

Cvj9qvua o

Anyway, here's the conditions. If Catherine or 4 of the citizens die, it's over. Meia apparently can burn, though.

Hfrosy8l o

Speaking of Catherine, the transporter's her. I get what they were trying to convey, but with the transporter's sprite, it looks like they're carrying her out in a big crate. Hilarious.

M7lzodgy o8lvxleod o

Anyway, new unit time. Well, you only need to take one glance at her to understand what kind of unit she is. Level 1 in chapter 6? Terribad stats? The worst skillset ever? Yep, that's a trainee all right. Remember how Sasha in TRS was a great trainee because she had all the time in the world to grow? Well, Enid's great for completely different reasons: when she promotes, she gains a special brand of utility that is very difficult to replicate. Her power will rise to incredible heights... in the right situation. It's quite the interesting promotion. See if you can guess what she'll become.

Enid's promotion is very different from the rest: She needs to get 5 magic. That's it. She has a 20% growth, a base of 2 and a bracket of 1 (that means she can only deviate from her averages by 1 point). Taking all of this into account, the absolute latest she can promote is level 15. That's... kinda terrible, but that's exactly why I've been prioritizing the liquid magic above all the other statboosters Lumiere can craft. With it, she only needs to level magic twice, so she'll promote at level 10 at the latest. That's much more manageable, especially since she has Paragon.

Sadly, I doubt I'll have much of a chance to feed her kills today. She has to run all over the place talking to the civilians, no time to spare killing enemies.

59dwotbr o

One last thing. The lady sword, in this game, is a weapon that women of any level can use. It has great might, huge hit, basically no weight and 33 crit. It's awesome. I'll probably keep it on her, she badly needs the extra power to get kills more easily.

Nqju4vl0 o

Another person that's going to be spending a lot of time running around is Axel. He has two houses to search.

0njayxiv o

Boss music, already?

Ed8bteni o

Three guesses as to how well that works out for the guy.

8o61robz o

Yeah.

5jsuux1j oCprnvcvh o

Hurrah, axe skill!

W0ltogdr o

Ahhh, treasure! In that case, I know exactly where Axel is going next. Somebody not named Enid needs to talk to Gonzij to get the mithril for Danton, and the shop right next to him has the hairpin for Moniz. On top of that, there's a little something for sale there, but I don't have the cash to get it... not unless I sell this treasure, that is.

In other words, I'm going to send Axel up there so he can kill three birds with one stone.

Fczrqhpl oStl2fz57 o

Other than that, we won't have much else to do these first couple of turns, with no enemies to oppose us yet. Catherine is heading out, so let's have Enid give a talk-to to this first civilian.

X8cn1xnu oY1d20bz6 oVr7rgz7g o

More eyeless people... Well, no matter. One down, four to go.

Ubwlpsnb o

With nothing else to do, Daoud cries a bit. I have a bit of an idea regarding Daoud, actually. But that doesn't matter right now, or ever in this update, for that matter.

8lbycju1 o

Dang it! Owen can't reach Axel...

Biwj1krw o

Next turn it is, then. For whatever reason, that woman would rather cross the river through the shallow and risk a cold than go through the bridge. I guess they really don't like the military, if they'd rather swim than cross the same bridge where a knight stands.

8y7srduh o

Ah! Enemies!

Ng0xbx6q oApnxybvi o

Another one down. Those were the easy ones. Not sure who to do next. Eh, we'll worry about that when it becomes a problem.

Oe0xop1p o

Well! Let us see who draws first blood.

Jrr8poaf oQ1ggqy9a o

Yeah, I thought so.

Uqbkx7a7 oLapcgeje o

Little by little, we come closer to getting our first kill of the day.

Uebsdetm o

Well, I guess the first kill of the day is Marcel's sword. Eh, it was bad anyways.

Lgrebmtf oKxnsepiy o

Aaaaand boom!

Lofmqrgp o

Arthur needs levels badly. I should try to give him some today.

Zj4llzuu oAyh9n0gi oY2yhlouw o

After some patching up, Axel heads north.

W4mignrk oErgehjmj oGenvawgu o

Ah, drat. There goes the battle cry.

6q76bs6w o

No matter. I have something better!

K8uyix7s oEhn21yls oQpmd5eep o

Pulverized! Hahah!

Numope9r oLwcovyon o

Aaand, well... let's set up an Overwatch! Why not? Enemies are bound to come at some point, right?

Gk243lc0 oA5vhpbpq o

Marcel tanks another blow.

7iwbrbhq o

I think he got more out of that than the enemy did, even without weapons to defend himself.

Zemtl2uo oHdk8fd1w o

Here's hoping Ruby can score some more WpSkill points while she's here. If she continues as she is doing, I might just be able to get her promoted real soon.

Btur9jcd o

Hah! These guys are seriously late. It'll take them three turns to even make it to the bridge, too... The poor fools.

Yjaikvkt o

Okay, so this guy can't reach Owen, so there's no hurry to finish him.

Slbzqhy1 o

...But we still don't have much more to do, so let's kill him now.

Fanqgoaz oUyrfbt9i o

Bah.

H1hx4rxk oF3zqx7cq o

Well, then. You do it, Ruby.

Ju47d40w oKukljlnu o

Baaaaaaaaaah...

Spfm8cuj o

Turn 4! Let's talk to Gonzij first.

Sukkgmly o

Jadofpfd oHere, I dug it up a while ago. Take yet junk and get goin'!

Cdfgejl2 oUxktxklv o

A real charmer, ain't he? Eh, no matter. We've got the thing for Danton.

Putj3g5s o

Uhhh, he threw in a free material for us, too! Thanks a ton.

Ps7vzggk o

Now, let's get this-- D'oooohhh...!

U1fikzz4 o

Didn't even get any shield skill out of that... urrggh...

Qnjnekyc o

Damnit, die already!

8l7wsz11 o

I considered my options, and eventually decided to get this woman first. The other dude and Gonzij will be easier to protect.

Mgol7pvq o

You, heal up. That HP of hers needs some real work... It's her biggest flaw right now!

Kisykuml oClczgef3 o

Why must he always have only 99% chance to hit with Desperation? Is he truly so desperate to annoy me?

4ptfvz8u o

Oki-dokie, that's level 5. Five more to go before he promotes.

Hmd64zkl o

Hoho! Not bad at all! Good job, Artie.

Zomcfvrd o

These guys are making some real good progress toward their target.

Ybvhkm29 oCzobtcha o

Be a shame if something happened to them before they could make it.

Dk1mgpac oHlboutyc o

Who needs good accuracy when you have such a beard?

Uhfvxd6e o

Hah! Now that's just the cherry on top o' the pie!

Ward n' Cliff's WpSkill counter: 1

Mk0ldcan oAagni7fg o

Finally, some enemies for Clifford to play with! Also, more enemies on the western side. But we have more than enough units to handle that.

36rmttm2 oIcblaemn o

So long! Sorry you couldn't even get to the battlefield before you died. If it makes you feel better, your friends won't fare much better.

V3xgdzmh oXtein9gg o

And it's back to the bridge with Ward.

Iufp9uks o

Same deal as last time.

Pfwhecdc oPqgppoyx o

He turned his sword into a pirate sabre!

S15liqlp o

It was quite effective.

Zszq8o5w oTwf3w8xo oOcacvrua o

Oh, Daoud...

Gnrdwc7k o

I mean, that's pretty nice, but you need 17 more points. 60% is okay but not that great when you need that many points.

Ufrdsnal oQ1tzx079 o

Fine, then. Marcel can do it.

Pquc0qeq o

What is this? Get skill points day?

E6lirmok oN2x0lpdt o

Yep, that's what it is. Fine by me, but... why couldn't it be a day when Elbert, Adel and Leon were on the field?

Jafyd1df o

Next civilian. Now we gotta get to the other side of the river, and that's it.

Vmbkvlhz oBioqulpb o

Ah! A crossbowman! I hate you all...! In the context of this game, you are worse than a horseman!

Fcbnk2ol o

Come to Papa for a most electrifying hug!

R0amrcvs o

I smell a capture right there. Well done, Owen.

7tijhqml oMycdojqu o

It's not a perfect 1 HP, but it'll do.

Ies1mk2t o

It did indeed! That's what I like to see, Ruby! So much for "bad unit".

Aftipxcc o

Anyway, Catherine and the first two civilians have almost made it out. Good for them.

Pp6myhsj oXg47lfel o

Arthur captures the man and gets these three items. Missed all the pop-ups, as per usual. Well, those items aren't that great, but it could be worse. They'll make for fine vendor fodder, if nothing else.

J2hoseaw o

Upon entering the store... there's text that I skipped by accident. Hold on, let me fetch the files Aethin sent me...

Lnnmyzab oYou're here to pick up for Mr. Moniz? Certainly, just sign here, please... And there you go!

Lgjkwhcy oOh, so you're just... giving this to Axel? It's not like he's provided any proof that he's here to pick up the thing for the man. I mean, it's obviously true, but it could not have been, and then what? That wouldn't have been good for the establishment's reputation... no, not at all...

Ngwj9imh o

Anyway, these files are real handy. Not really convenient enough to use constantly, but at least they saved me the hassle of reloading just to get this dialogue. Let me thank you again if you're reading this, Aethin. And now...

Jfqox5zc o

While we're here... Let's buy some mithril for ourselves! I can't remember about the Angon, but the Colichemarde is basically like a stronger estoc. It's pretty good, I'd like to have it.

L52om6s0 o3uzzl2e7 o

There's two for sale, and I don't think you can get any more anywhere else. So let's just get both right here.

Y9ru6lbm o

Thank you, very nice.

Bdrcxcdg o

This woman is well on her way to safety. Soon, we won't have to worry about protecting this flank. Well, not too hard, at least.

8ckxyics o

Is it time? I think it's time.

Nsq698qv o

Pah, I mean, who cares? He won't die. Oh, I've been looking forward to this all game!

Vouuyqui o

...pfffft! Okay, funny story. I only intended to show off the damage. However, when you equip a lance and charge, you can only attack with the lance. To use anything else, you have to go back and unequip the thing. This means that, when you attack, instead of selecting your weapon and viewing the battle forecast, the first step is skipped. In other words, I pressed the "confirm" button twice by force of habit and ended up starting the battle by mistake.

I pray this does not happen in a more inconvenient situation, but right now, all it means it that...

5xklhwek o

I get to make a gif! Look at that. It's one of my favorite animations in the game for a reason. If the blow misses or does not kill, the rider continues forward and zooms out of the screen.

Notice that he one-shot the guy. Get used to it. Lances one-shot all of the canon fodder. And this is the worst lance, may I remind you. God, I love this weapon type.

Jibsoxqj o

Hyah hyah hahahahahahahah! Power! Poweeeeeeeeeer! Unlimited dittoooooooooooooooooooooo!

Ward n' Cliff's WpSkill counter: 2

Mra4udg2 o

Oh yeah, and there's that too.

Gbpifvoa o

Of course, the downside to lances is that you can't ever counter with them, so people carrying them are sitting ducks. Not that he would've been able to counter against a crossbow anyways, but still. Something to take into account. Not that it's going to stop me from charging at everything. I love that animation, and the power makes me feel all tingly. No, not where you're thinking, you sick-minded fools. It's not like Sylvis can use lances, after all... now there's an interesting thought...

Uvsuqoss o

He didn't even have to waste a shield use. Pfft!

Ky7r9xil o

It's turn five now, and...

Ruh6odlg o

What? No reinforcements appeared! Berwick Saga, you need to up your game! I'm going to regret saying that, won't I...

Fttmyniz o8p8ppisj o

Pulverize time!

2gco6qpp oUjdhqrib o

Bonk! Hahah!

Ilaircci oF6iztetk o

Catherine and Meia are out. I'm so happy for 'em.

A3edddzf o

As for Catherine's dear daughter, she's got a mission to fulfill still.

Pqehv7fk o4n4gsyx4 oHhsnciyd o

Didn't think so.

Qejsvdny o

No chance!

Emjteujt o

This is the damage of the basic lance without any additional charge damage. It's okay.

Lshlvc1c oSone4ybl o

If you're going to attack from up close, though, you might as well use an ordinary weapon.

Ytdwrpih o

Okay, I've had my fun. Now, if you could please step forward and spring the trap...

8ktb6qhs oQhnq2qcb o

Gaaah Ward!

Dpfr8ili oCntgmrt1 oOcc2botc o

Thank you.

Hzflxx5x o

Citizen nº 1 is safe!

Lrz8hccc o

Reese hasn't had much to do yet. No need to Gram this one. Use the saber instead.

Fdbz3erp oSi8j3zzv o

Pretty good!

2r59mv4z o3ls1zjkl o

All right. Axel has one more task to take care of. See that house Sylvis is hiding in? Gray? Yeah.

Wndub9dc o

I just barely managed to catch the new batch of reinforcements. Axemen now, huh? Well, they're still only three against five, and what a five! They're all awesome, and Arthur!

D6qkkxup o

Oh! Well, would you look at that. It's a person. He was so angry that I wrote him out of the story in FE6, that he decided to insert himself into my favorite game and try again. We'll see how well that strategy works for him.

1cj4tcl3 o

A KILLER AXE!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH NO!!

Hrv4fyyk o2h6llpfz o

Bwaahh-- Reese! C'mon!

Zprxsbeu o

Another civilian is gone.

Eupzaqsi o

Ah, finally! I was waiting for this to happen. If you're wondering what I'm doing to waste all of my moves, well... The truth is, I panicked and forgot to take screenshots of it, but I'm having everyone escape from the killer axe's range.

Oxwfwpj7 o

Anyway, you have fallen right into my trap! In Am--

Rsel42rd o

...for fuck's sake... erica!

5agxme80 oJ3gyvgt5 o

At least it seems uncovering Sylvis didn't not make him change his mind about attacking Clifford. That could've been bad if he aimed for her...

9ioz5oqr oCeqmou7j o

That's another citizen taken care of.

Now, here's the problem: Perceval will be heading for the escape point. Enid needs to talk to him to turn him playable. If he escapes... I'm not sure what happens, actually, but I'd rather not find out. However, if I have her turn back and chase Perceval, it's going to take way too long to make it back to Gonzij. He may've been the subject of Danton's citizen request, but don't forget that he's still a citizen who needs to be convinced to escape.

Of course, there's a different solution: if a unit blocks the escape point, Perceval can't leave, so Enid has all the time in the world to fetch Gonzij and then go get Perceval. I had already put this strategy to use in my second run.

Knowing this, you get one guess as to what I decided to do this time.

Iksx2otq oJ2hlavgx o

No rush, just think about it. In the meantime, Clifford can whack a person.

Yskrzsnw oRrxgsnpj oGivjmmvv oKm1unoxf o

Redeem yourself, Sylvis.

5csyzzoj o

Damn the bastard... slow down!

Hhl3jl0v o

Worst part is, he won't even be heading through town. Nah, that'd be far too convenient. Instead, he'll get wet and cut through the shoal. Impatient bastard...

5ae7w3xr oDs4ktxrm oNc63t3md oBaxrky7h o

For now, let's try to slow him down slightly. By putting Reese and Ward at the edge of his movement range, we effectively reduce his pace to that of a knight. It should buy us at least a little bit of time.

Vskerr3f o

Next turn will be it for Axel.

3jhxhuvw oCielazum o

Ah! A throwing axe!

Kpzbflqw o

Too bad for him that Marcel is a dodgetank on top of a regular tank!

8zwxqy9b oQxc8ti6l o

On the western side, I want that killer asshole dead right this instant. To that end, Owen blasts him with thunder.

Rpyuvg3x o

Sadly, Arthur is the only one left to attack...

1usgmdya o

Hoo, boy... that is so risky...

1eeaz1l4 o

Well, that worked out okay. Thank goodness...

Jg5dfalz oVe9hgdxs o

Attacking Clifford from the safety of range 1? That is quite smart, but it will not save you.

Vefs6new o

All right, it's a new turn. First order of business, equip the holy orb, as usual.

O4pmsdg2 oImbe3wts oHwci9iyq o

Gah! Yeouch...! Damnit, that's so inconvenient... now I can't just have him search the house, he might lose the fight.

Ldyx0jkg o

Ahhh, assured safety! Now that is what I like to see.

H01xraew oLjmgfg8e o

Very good, very good indeed.

Beqwjoor o

Now, this was the time to decide whether to go after Gonzij or Perceval first.

K1tqnous o

Couldn't make up my mind, so I instead had Marcel attack.

Dcfz3kqp oZ3ihav5c o

Great, absolutely wonderful.

Yrprkasp o

Eh, 'least you got something outta that.

Kx4gjywd oW0jaypqh oWxaw3npj o

With the killer dude dead, I'm feeling much safer. But that doesn't mean I'm about to slack off on you guys. You're all going down.

C3dimpiu o

Hah! I am one step ahead of you.

Cbt3lpct oJnui6iou o

So many have tried that before you. What makes you believe you'll be the one to succeed?

D1jk2tue o

Nothing. There is nothing that should make you believe that.

Qbigeqcg o

God dang it, with a small bit of help that'd be a perfect kill for Enid... but she has places to be at.

Prygymlx o

So let's instead try to kill him already.

8xnf45me o

A miss, as usual.

Xdhaizqb oGendh6we o

Seriously, this has to be the most Berwick Saga interaction.

X8p7zpt4 oJzaeby7u o

Drat, this one just barely survived!

Segzgbqg o

She can deal with him next turn. For now, you gotta heal and prepare for another tussle.

G4gqdv2q oGzsvbiwx o

Let's block Perceval again.

On2uhuyo o

Aaaaand I finally made my choice. I completely forgot the strategy I had employed in my last run, and instead turned back to get Percy first. Damnit, Ruben, you dumbass...! I can only pray Gonzij will have time to escape now.

Obtkrtgr o

Not helping matters is the fact that stronger enemies are starting to appear. We might be overwhelmed very soon.

Ysniynzl o

This is just a healer, but still, I don't want my enemies to live for longer than they need to.

Arfhys6e oOvnvkqmt o

Anyway, I don't want you to screw with my plans again, so you go down first.

4ylyguiu o

Hah! Again? Some people just cannot learn...

Ttgecry2 o

...see, that's what I should say about me and my friggin' mouth...

Akl7jaym o

Gwaaaaaahhhh! Owen!

3zbgnzeu o

Yeah, yeah, very nice. Owen!

Lahkdt2v o2r4paifo o

Phew... I mean, I know he has the miracle charm, but I'd rather keep that for as long as possible. Hoard it the whole game, best-case scenario.

W9yandwq o

I am sick of you already! Die, if you please!

Jpitunx0 oBfcawc6r o

Oh, for the love of--

Ptcpiiuw o

At least he's reached his SShield threshold already. Not sure if he'll ever make it to his promotion, but at least now I can have him switch to MShields permanently without worrying about anything.

Lviixfxx oRycplvg1 oId07ra5q o

C'mon! Can we please stop missing everything!?

5c9h0jdb o

What?!

62sxkv6g oCf5jlnwm o

Hwohohohohahahahahahah! He doubled! Somehow he doubled! Killed the bastard, too! You're the greatest, Marcel.

Jttffhkp oKatrne16 oLdylrhgp o

D'oohhhh...! Why!?

Hmon048q oZ4qlpvd1 o

Everyone, gang up on him!

5pmefkcu o

This guy's on his way to us, too...

Fehvqrex o

We'll worry about that later. For now, it's time for another round of searching.

S58owgya o

Ah, no fight? Okay, thank you very much!

Zl2y30pn oYwbce49a o

Wonderful. I can get him next turn and then double back to Gonzij. I mean, it's not really wonderful, but it's as wonderful as it could possibly be, given my innate handicap. Y'know, the badness.

Khpntrx5 oQumakvta oPf0d8uet o

Oh, you... at least it was a pretty weak heal. Next turn will be it.

2oids6eh o

Okay...

F96mpi9x o

No reinforcements? Again? What's with this chapter? It's so weird... well, not gonna complain.

Uedb0xi6 o

Fwaaahhh...

38pjdizw oW9mchh4v oBtydnprk o

I still can't get over that. He doubles. I mean, his speed isn't nearly as bad as Derrick, and swords are lighter than axes, but still... It's rather impressive!

Uoz0fcfz oA3k38nri oWu7yb8nn oMsexbvk0 o

Ouch! There goes the shield. Thankfully he has a couple spares.

5quyurs6 o

Oki-dokie! Get in my team before you run off again.

Gxywl6og o

Cp5jgg5b o

On a quiet road, a boy and a girl meet by chance... perhaps this will be the beginning of a beautiful tale of love and romance.

Xytmo3rn o

Aofpvug6 oWhat's a kid like you doing here?

R9revija oI'm not one of the townspeople, nor am I a kid! Who are you?!

Aofpvug6 oHa ha ha, there's no need to be so angry!

9qk5ifz8 o ...okay, maybe not.

Aofpvug6 oI'm not with the Empire. I'm just passing through.

Lgjkwhcy o And they let you? I mean, you appeared right where the enemy reinforcements are coming from! In fact, the enemy leader himself will show up later on from that direction, as well! Is there something you'd like to tell us, Percy?

R9revija oYou're a traveler? But you don't have a weapon or anything to defend yourself...

Aofpvug6 oSure I do, look.

R9revija oHuh? A magic orb...? You're a mage?

Aofpvug6 oYeah. You should've seen the look on the faces of the last people who tried to mug me on the road.

Uayhoqm3 o

R9revija oThat's incredible... You can use magic...

Aofpvug6 oYou must not be used to seeing mages around here, huh? They're not that uncommon in Leia, back where I'm from.

9qk5ifz8 o Now where have we heard that nation's name before... Not too long ago, in fact.

R9revija oUm... Is it difficult to use magic?

Aofpvug6 oYeah. You have to be born with it, or else you can't even use it. But also, some people who have the gift can't use it until it's awakened by something.

R9revija o......

Aofpvug6 oWhy do you ask? Are you interested in magic?

R9revija o...I want to become stronger. I'm trying to become a knight... But compared to the men who are also training for it, I can't compete in strength or endurance...

Aofpvug6 oWell, that doesn't apply to magic.

Rcfo8sci o

Lgjkwhcy o Eh, I don't know... at risk of sounding like an asshole, both you and Owen are better mages than Aegina...

R9revija oReally...

Aofpvug6 oNow it's my turn to ask. Who are you?

R9revija oOh, I'm Enid Warrenheit. I'm the daughter of Duke Mikhail Warrenheit of the Lowlands.

9qk5ifz8 o Like I said earlier. Though, to be fair, if my surname was something as badass as Warrenheit, I probably would ask everyone to address me by that instead of just Mikhail.

R9revija oI'm here to help evacuate the people of this town.

Aofpvug6 oOh? That's kind of you. Especially for a kid like you...

R9revija oI am not a child!

Lgjkwhcy oAhhh, this trope. Thankfully, they mostly drop it after this conversation. It's not the subject of countless C supports or anything like that.

R9revija oIn fact, you look about the same age as me!

Aofpvug6 oHah, sorry if I made you mad. Really!

Thhzzfnd o

R9revija oHuh? Are you serious...?

Aofpvug6 oSure, I'm in no hurry.

R9revija oIn that case, can you help me protect the people here as they evacuate?

Aofpvug6 oYep, I can do that.

R9revija oGreat! Then I'll go and tell the commander about you. ...What's your name?

Aofpvug6 oI'm Perceval.

R9revija oPerceval? That's a funny name...

Lgjkwhcy o I don't see what's so funny about it, to be honest...

Enlfccfl o

Aofpvug6 oThe woman who found and raised me gave it to me.

Uedfz3v4 o Sheesh! There's no need to get so touchy about it, though!

R9revija oO-Oh... I'm sorry... Let's start again, shall we? Nice to meet you, Perceval.

Aofpvug6 oSame to you... er... Sorry, I forgot your name...

R9revija oIt's Enid!

9qk5ifz8 o Pfffff... a wonderful start, no doubt about that.

Alhhlx6c o

And now, Perceval is ours! For the time being, at least. With this game, you never know.

Tf7blfwy oLljjolge o

Perceval is interesting. Whereas Aegina focuses on wind magic, Perceval's forte is thunder. At base, Perceval makes for a better mage than Aegina, with higher magic and thunder skill. However, he lacks Focus Chant, and he's the only one of the game's three standard mages that doesn't have a Pallas orb. Instead, he has the following skills:

- Mercy can be combined with lightning, a thunder orb that grants a doubled crippling rate, for virtually guaranteed cripples on injured enemies. It's, as far as I know, the most reliable way to cripple people once you've managed to injure them, at least without fancier weapons, so it's a good thing that Perceval can pull it off without fear of killing the enemy.

- Adept allows him to kill people by accident on occassion.

- Arrowbane is just wonderful, mages need as much help as they can get to survive.

J0yvjorg o

To compensate for the lack of a pallas orb, he has this. Aegina can't use thunder, and the next mage focuses on fire, so this might as well be his personal orb. It works exactly as you'd expect after two Kaga games of dire thunder doing the same thing: it's a brave orb. He'll mostly destroy with this... if he can hit, that is. I know it's probably just me, but in both of my previous runs, Perceval always found the worst possible times to miss. Every single time I needed him to hit, he missed, I swear to God.

As such, he rather frustrates me, but I cannot deny his objective utility. Perceval is an all right mage. He relies more on his raw power than the other two due to his lack of legendary orbs, but he can still pull his weight just fine, mostly due to the fact that thunder magic is great. He does have one more downside, but we won't see it in this map.

Jhux5ddp o

Now, I'm wondering... Can I just whisk Gonzij away with Owen's escape orb? It's worth a try...

Yxtqov1f oX1e4bu8u o

By wasting a few moves, I got the healer to wait. Now is the time to attack the crossbowman!

Dcnanmbq o

Go, pulverize!

Uqovn6u9 o

Exactly...

Yu4ycxsz o

Make it a good one with axe skill, please.

Meume9ad o

Well, I mean, no axe skill, but that's pretty great still. We're getting some nice levels today! This can't be a good signal. Someone will die... an eye for an eye, a good level for a life, as the saying goes. What, that's not how it goes? Well, it's how it seems to go in my life!

Now it's your turn, garbage bag!

L5mtimn6 o

Looks good.

Mkd75wzm oZrxgd97f oPqojtyu2 o

Let's all fall back. It's not safe to be so close to the enemy spawn.

Well, how's about a taste of your own medicine?!

Dif3ofme o1mkug5hy o

...Ohhh, fsss... Gonzij is so stubborn about staying, that even magic doesn't work on him. Well, then. Enid will have to run like she's never run in her life.

Sus3wvxn o

Go, go, go! On the double!

Lkpzy7kr o

Meanwhile, I'm going to have Daoud begin to stack battle cries. This is the first step of the plan I mentioned earlier.

Zljvxpqm oAyfh52ee o

I'm afraid not. Marcel won't fall to such puny little tricks.

Dzazaavz oBxti2sgp o

And now... You will die!

Well, first, Daoud heals up.

Hrklvfio oAh0kywzp o

I5kd9v4b oOfcjplrv oChlimtae oSxmlyslp o

Rnv6lvhd o

There goes another citizen. I think that's all the civilians other than Gonzij, which means one of the tactics points is ours.

Ca2y87k1 o

Is it possible that I might get lucky?

2foopaee o

Of course not.

X4gks6tb oUwq63qbo o

...Well, I'll forgive you, but only because I adore that doubling animation you got. That thrust is so satisfying.

Hg13xhfr o

Wow, that's a badass-looking frame. It's so good that I'm feeling like putting it in a completely different context for no reason whatsoever.

Whrjvywf o

There we go. Doesn't that look awesome? The image is incredible, though. Not sure who made it, I just searched "boat on stormy sea" and it was one of the first results.

Mkxrdlvp o

You follow her, because I'm going to need more people to defend Gonzij from the oncoming enemies.

Ai9w2ifc o

Feck...! Okay, at least Axel is unharmed.

Jctwyxfz oX5ggitqa o

...Well, we're exactly halfway through the chapter (turn 12 of 24), and this is how things stand at the moment. Gonzij continues to worry me, he's so far away... but I think there still may be time. No sign of Minas or Count Theodore, either... I'm sorry, but I'm afraid all of the exciting things about this chapter happen in its later half, so this update has turned out to look rather uneventful. Next time, the difficulty gradually increases as we approach the time limit.

Will I be able to save the old miner? Will the army make it out unscathed? And what about Barselphon's love, where is she? Why isn't Sienna queen instead of Volcyboy? To find the answers to all these questions and more, tune in next time! Fare thee well, buh-byeeeeee~!

Ehhhh... from the images I'm seeing, it's stylistically less inspired perhaps.

Trust me, you have to look at how it presents its story and dialogue (sometimes it's not as bad but outside combat maps (and sometimes in) it is bad). I have to say, I can get how the quality is higher on the model work, how the game is presented is honestly worse overall. The character modifications look kinda hilarious as well.

This isn't a "3H actually looks amazing" post, I've picked up some games that will possibly body both and hope to get some others that absolutely will. And yes, plenty of these are 2D, so har har laugh at me all you want. If I was worrying about graphically amazing titles I'd rob my brother's PS4.

Also, I meant 100 in total. Something like 50 hours per route, seeing as I have 2 routes left to play. It's far too much for me to bother without even being sure that I'll enjoy it, I'm sorry.

I really was stumbling at points because I knew next to nothing about the game. I made Hilda go down armour classes, which shot her speed and she never truly recovered.

I'm... unsure how I'd rank FE soundtracks, actually. I like most of them equally, with a few stand-out tracks in each game. Modern FE and Berwick are a step above the rest. That's the best I can give you, really.

Tearring > Berwick so far.

Again, I found it worthwhile. Much better than Mortal Savant.

I'm not a fan as a class for general use long term not because of growths but because Astra's shit and there's only really swords for it on a 5 move unit. And you need a lot to convince me to stick with 5 move in lategame.

1- He isn't even returning her feelings right now. Mostly because he has no feelings of his own.

2- I love how you keep using that portrait of him.

1. As he is the recipient of these feelings he is the closest I can get to putting the culprit in horny jail.

2. A tool like this, I can't ignore it.

This looks empty, I thought Lebron was a full fortified town but nope.

19 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Vykh6kks oI am certain they will. Lady Enid is quite popular among the people of the Lowlands.

Lgjkwhcy o This is what I was talking about earlier. The civilians won't start fleeing until Enid speaks to them. They'll let the Imperials skewer them without moving an inch. Enid's going to have to run circles around the map to convince everyone to try and save their own skin. Not helping matters is the fact that a different person will appear later on that she also has to talk to. It's kinda annoying.

So that's 8 turns she has to spend talking. A third of the map spent talking and whatever else to catch all these people.

Dayum Lebron what's wrong with you?

So she'll get light magic as a promoted unit? But of course the requirement is a bit RNG too, even if stats are bracketed.

Also, that's not the worst skillset. Empty enough, but at least she doesn't secretly have -1 move on top of it.

Axel's the most useful unit you have, I just can't help but like him.

Nice, though part of me wants the transition to the enemy to be faster, that's me talking.

Good thing I picked up Wargroove so I can still play with this sort of thing. Even if it's crit only at max range.

Of course Kaga made it so you have to take multiple turns so the girl you want to highlight gets no combat.

40 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said:

For now, let's try to slow him down slightly. By putting Reese and Ward at the edge of his movement range, we effectively reduce his pace to that of a knight. It should buy us at least a little bit of time.

Less then a year, I believe.

And I don't really have any moral objections for a relationship between the two. It's really only incest in the sense that Bernstool decided for the two of them to be siblings. And why should he be the only one to have a say in the matter?
My problem is that they are really not developed enough to make such a relationship work. So far Reese himself has not even acknowledged Lynette's existence in any way. First time will be at the end of this map. And even then it will be in a way that more suggests a siblings relationship.
If Lynette were unambiguously Reese's sister, then I would say her letters would develop their relationship well enough. It would be obvious that the two of them are very close, even if we never see Reese react to it. How could he not care about his concerned and dedicated sister who keeps sending him valuables even if she has to sell her own possessions for it? But knowing that Lynette wants to get into Reese's pants makes this all kinds of complicated.
Not sure if I make any sense here. But I can at last say that they never stopped feeling like siblings to me, rather then the lovers they are intended to be.

Even if he had, approaching the invincible fliers and the siege tome bishop would've been suicide. Guess who performed the aforementioned suicide because he was convinced he had to defeat Zweiras to get his favorite characters and Lianka?

As long as Ravinia is on the map, she will be the only one to guard the castle. Zweiras and his gang only show up after she leaves with Valerius.
But Ravinia also makes an appearance in chapter 19 to ruin your day if you haven't killed the Neatherdrake by turn 40.

Wait, how else can you get Hilda, Siegfried and Lianka? You have to kill Zweiras for that.
And the fliers aren't really invincible. They just keep reviving. Freaking Mangulites playing on Casual Mode.

Unless my math is off, the latest level should be 21. She averages +1 point of magic every 5 levels. So with average stats, she would reach 5 magic at level 16. Starting level of 1 + 15 levels. But since her magic can be 1 point below average, she is only guaranteed to get 5 magic when her average is at 6, which would be 5 levels later. So 21.
But since we are using the magic potion, it's level 16.

One last thing. The lady sword, in this game, is a weapon that women of any level can use. It has great might, huge hit, basically no weight and 33 crit. It's awesome. I'll probably keep it on her, she badly needs the extra power to get kills more easily.

And the accuracy.

Well, from my experience she can talk to everyone and still has enough time to meet up with Perceval if she starts south and moves clockwi...

Lgjkwhcy o Eh, I don't know... at risk of sounding like an asshole, both you and Owen are better mages than Aegina...

Sure, Perceval is a better mage then Aegina. But Owen? Having a higher magic base means nothing if you can't hit anything.
And on the Light magic side of things, Saphira and Izerna are both much better then Owen.

3 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

To compensate for the lack of a pallas orb, he has this. Aegina can't use thunder, and the next mage focuses on fire, so this might as well be his personal orb.

Now you are forgetting about Owen?
Of course either way that weapon is gonna stay blue for a very long time.

Enid is an interesting unit, she is one of the best after promotion but terrible when she joins. Which is why she absolutely needs the liquid magic. I forgot and gave it to Perceval in my run and had to wait till chapter 13 for her to promote, even that was thanks to savestate abuse. Doesn't help that she loses Paragon around lv 10/12.

While we're here... Let's buy some mithril for ourselves! I can't remember about the Angon, but the Colichemarde is basically like a stronger estoc. It's pretty good, I'd like to have it.

For me it was the opposite, I made the Angon first but never managed to get a second sheet, so didn't get to test the Colichemarde. From my experience though, Angon seemed much more valuable than another sword. It can be used both from 0 range and as a throwable weapon, so it was a perfect weapon for Larentia after her spear (can't remember the name) broke.

Which is why you should have went for Gonzij first, since the northern part will become busy soon enough.

5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Aaaaand I finally made my choice. I completely forgot the strategy I had employed in my last run, and instead turned back to get Percy first. Damnit, Ruben, you dumbass...! I can only pray Gonzij will have time to escape now.

I like Perceval, he is much better than Aegina and Owen is busy enough with healing. Not having a personal weapon hurts in the late game, but there are still enemies weak to magic so doesn't feel like a waste to bring him there. The only problem he have is, getting the skills for promotion.

In another news, I finally managed to reach chapter 15.

Spoiler

I had to sacrifice Burroughs in chapter 14, I knew I had to give him an Escape Stone but forgot. The road guards killed him just 2 turns before retreating. I didn't have the courage to restart again after struggling so long.

As for the good news, Derrick will be participating in the final chapter after sitting through the last two chapters, wish him good luck.

You know, mixing events from the old "Ben Drowned" creepypasta with the lyrics/flow of the original... albeit with a darker tone. I mean the "you know the rules and so do I" remained the same. As did the " you up, never gonna let you down".

I think my problem is less the fact of what his plan was, as it could theoretically work. The thing that made it a mess is that he seemingly had zero back up plans for a plan that had way too many variables to realistically trust everything to. See, longshot plans that work well if they succeed are great... as long as you have a fallback option. Rudolf seemingly had none. Perhaps he planned to burn that bridge when he came to it.

Well, I didn't look that deeply into it, so I won't argue you there.

This isn't a "3H actually looks amazing" post, I've picked up some games that will possibly body both and hope to get some others that absolutely will. And yes, plenty of these are 2D, so har har laugh at me all you want.

Why would I laugh when I completely agree? Or even if I didn't, I'm not out to defeat people at some imaginary contest of opinions and ideas! It does reassure me that it's not just a me thing that 3H is ugly, but beyond that... I wish it wasn't!

If I was worrying about graphically amazing titles I'd rob my brother's PS4.

Get The Order 1886. It looks very great and... not much else. They even ended it with a cliffhanger, thinking they'd get to make a sequel. How adorable.

I really was stumbling at points because I knew next to nothing about the game. I made Hilda go down armour classes, which shot her speed and she never truly recovered.

I actually was going to make Hilda a knight in my maddening run. But then she died and I couldn't be bothered to reset. If I had known how shitty maddening was, I would've gone casual mode. At least then I might've had a chance to get through chapter 13.

Tearring > Berwick so far.

Eh, fair enough. TRS's soundtrack is a baller as well.

Again, I found it worthwhile. Much better than Mortal Savant.

But she's a swordmaster, not a savant...

I'm not a fan as a class for general use long term not because of growths but because Astra's shit and there's only really swords for it on a 5 move unit. And you need a lot to convince me to stick with 5 move in lategame.

Yeah, I can understand that. When everyone can be a wyvern, why not make 'em?

1. As he is the recipient of these feelings he is the closest I can get to putting the culprit in horny jail.

2. A tool like this, I can't ignore it.

Hahahah, okay. I see. Well, keep at it. I do love seeing my work put to good use.

I thought you had at least one all this time.

Nope. This is the first you can ever get.

Also, there's modified weapons sold in shops as well (from that screenshot)? Jeez, as if my paranoia about RPG shopping was bad enough. I secretly hate that kind of thing as I always want to buy it and if money's tight I can't and I hate it.

Not quite. The lance is shown in yellow text because it's a special weapon that only mounted units can use. The pike, a spear that can only be used by foot soldiers, is similarly highlighted in yellow. If I recall correctly, anyway. Either way, I can assure you that what you just said is not the case.

This looks empty, I thought Lebron was a full fortified town but nope.

I mean, it probably was fortified, but they've escaped by now alongside most of the townspeople. It's just the few stubborn stragglers and Catherine that remain.

So that's 8 turns she has to spend talking. A third of the map spent talking and whatever else to catch all these people.

8 turns only? Hah, I suppose that's what it'd take a good player...

Dayum Lebron what's wrong with you?

They're dumb, that's what.

So she'll get light magic as a promoted unit? But of course the requirement is a bit RNG too, even if stats are bracketed.

Not exactly "light", but she does get a magic. And, ironically enough, the requirement is one of the least RNG of them all, since WpSkill isn't bracketed and there's no statbooster for it like the liquid magic.

Also, that's not the worst skillset. Empty enough, but at least she doesn't secretly have -1 move on top of it.

Ahahahah... well, Marcel does have some actual skills to compensate for the secret -1 move. I'd say his is the better skillset. Not talking about their performances as units. I'd say in that respect, Marcel is way better before Enid's promotion, and Enid surpasses him afterwards. But it's not an easy comparison, they're vastly different units.

Axel's the most useful unit you have, I just can't help but like him.

Why do you think he's my favorite? Well, that and his character arc. It melts my heart.

Angry Axe Knight screams again.

If only Derrick could battle cry... that'd be absolutely amazing.

Also, I'm feeling a bit of music.

Hah!

It's that time I suppose.

Hahahahah... yeah, that's that woman right now.

Also this.

That's a fierce decent level.

I mean, that's some sheeeeeet, eh?

You needed help to get it.

No, no I didn't actually. Got it instantly. Let us celebrate.

Nice, though part of me wants the transition to the enemy to be faster, that's me talking.

Yes, that is you talking. I'd ask why you always have to complain about something, but I'm not really one to chastise anyone for constant complaints.

Good thing I picked up Wargroove so I can still play with this sort of thing. Even if it's crit only at max range.

Uh, I suppose so. Wargroove never interested me that much, I'll admit. It's indie Advance Wars, and I hate Advance Wars, so... yeah.

Also, as part of music Monday (Well essentially), here.

Gas

DO I NEED TO GET THE SQUIRTY BOTTLE?

Please refrain from doing so.

Rubenio when he sees enemies with crit.

Yes. Exactly.

Of course Kaga made it so you have to take multiple turns so the girl you want to highlight gets no combat.

This is Kaga we're talking about. This may be his masterpiece, but he still hates humanity, and humans that play his games in particular.

That seems familiar somehow.

Same here.

Also, I just imagine them going "Stop!" and him just moving along like "No, I don't think I will".

If only Guard made units unable to move. It'd be so easy to just keep him stuck. I mean, it's still easy as heck to prevent him from escaping, but...

So what would a strat that goes for Gonzji first look like I wonder?

There's a shoal next to him, so I imagine you get him and the other western dude first, then you cross the shoal and get the woman right there, and then go south to get the last woman and Perceval.

...You know, that works so much better. Ahhh, I'm so dumb...

So Leia the Thunder Mage?

Leia the UNLIMITED POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

Are we sure there isn't some version of Star Wars where Leia became a Sith and ended up there, somehow being remembered positively enough that they kept her name for themselves?

I mean, if I recall correctly, I read somewhere that Raze and Veria are supposed to be two halves of Gerxel. You know, the bad guys' god from TRS. Turns out Carla won all along. So it's not to out there that a Sith might be remembered positively.

Percival this is not. His hit at 86 ain't great (Thanks Berwick, making me paranoid.)

Oh, it absolutely isn't great, if my personal experience has anything to say about it. He always misses, I swear!

Also, at least he can miss, so he wouldn't be like his form in SKaga Heroes where he'd have an insane refined tome because it took so long for him to be added.

Gachas! Very great genre, yes.

He needs 30 Axe skill right?

That's worrying, though otherwise good.

Oh yeah, I have little hope of this guy promoting. Same goes for Adel, Leon and the mages. Elbert... Maybe. He has 10 points to go, which isn't that bad, but... bleh.

I don't know, he looks to me like he's part of the 60's style opening for Berwick where all the characters get afterimages.

Faye's afterimages get afterimages!

60's Berwick had a ton of drugs involved.

Hahahahah... I mean, to be fair, Kaga's always been a sucker for old anime. But I'll take that over being a sucker for new anime. What did you expect from an elitist such as myself?

RLqT4D9D_o.pngI'm invincible!

Yes you are, Marcel. Yes you are. You also have -1 move, but we're working on that.

Less then a year, I believe.

Even less, I see.

And I don't really have any moral objections for a relationship between the two. It's really only incest in the sense that Bernstool decided for the two of them to be siblings. And why should he be the only one to have a say in the matter?

Bernstool.

5ekapikt o

I apologize. Carry on.

Yeah, I get what you're saying, and I agree. The ship's overall rather weak. Would've been better to just have them be regular step-siblings. Or maybe establish them to have already been lovers prior to the game. Having it happen in the game doesn't work when Lynette is barely a thing in it.

As long as Ravinia is on the map, she will be the only one to guard the castle. Zweiras and his gang only show up after she leaves with Valerius.
But Ravinia also makes an appearance in chapter 19 to ruin your day if you haven't killed the Neatherdrake by turn 40.

Ah, I see.

Wait, how else can you get Hilda, Siegfried and Lianka? You have to kill Zweiras for that.

No, actually. If you leave them alone, they warp away from the map after a few turns.

I discovered this when I looked at a guide. Shameful, I know, but I was desperate. I could not see any feasible way to defeat Zweiras when he was surrounded by extremely powerful enemies that could not be permanently killed.

And the fliers aren't really invincible. They just keep reviving. Freaking Mangulites playing on Casual Mode.

Yeah, well, given how absurdly tanky they are, they might as well be invincible. It took half my entire team just to kill one. Imagine my face when he came back to life immediately like it was nothing.

Meoilxpy o As for which choice we will pick, let's just say I have a lot of faith in the speed of our horses.

Ahahahahah... I... Wouldn't have so much faith, given that I'm the one in control. You know, the league shall fall...?

Not like there is any chance of them dying unless you block the escape point.

That much is true.

So 21.
But since we are using the magic potion, it's level 16.

...Ohhhhhh... Right, I hadn't taken into account that the bracket goes both ways. Sorry, you're absolutely right, the latest point is five levels higher than I said.

...Still, I'm hoping it won't come to that. In my second run she promoted in, like, level 6. If we can have a repeat of that, I'll be ecstatic.

And the accuracy.

Yeah, of course. I meant "power" as in, the general power of the sword in every relevant aspect.

Well, from my experience she can talk to everyone and still has enough time to meet up with Perceval if she starts south and moves clockwi...

Nevermind then. Okay, let's leave the guy with the longest distance to travel for the end.

I'm still kicking myself for that...

Well, at least they don't have Rapid Crossbows with Mithril Arrows.

Heheheheheh... ahhhh, please don't say things like that...

With an Iron Spear he would have had 92% hit here. Just saying.

Let me live, would you?

He would be gone forever.

I thought so. It's not like he was already heading towards Navarron, or anything. Naah, makes more sense that he just vanishes.

"Here lies Gonzij. A young man whose life was cut short by the war."

Bwahahahahahahah... I want to hate this, but the "young man" cracks me up.

Not like it was even hidden. But who can keep track of all these names? I most certainly didn't pick up on the fact that Enid's mother was referred to by two different names in her first scene.

Ergh... that's a bit too much obliviousness, considering it's all in one scene.

Sure, Perceval is a better mage then Aegina. But Owen? Having a higher magic base means nothing if you can't hit anything.
And on the Light magic side of things, Saphira and Izerna are both much better then Owen.

Okay, that's a stretch if I've ever seen one. Izerna requires training, which, fair enough, might be worthwhile, but Saphira? C'mon, she can't even use physic until you feed her a metric fuckton of levels, and if she gets there she's worse at it than Izerna and Owen.

Owen comes ready for anything, which is an advantage no matter how you look at it. Also, his accuracy with anima may be bad, but in an emergency it's still better to have someone who can fry an enemy with a shaky hitrate than nothing at all. As for holy, he's really no worse with it than Izerna or Saphira. Excluding the much, much better light skill base, of course.

Not to mention the fact that he can just escape at any time if he's in trouble. He's perfect for escape maps because of this, since by turn 20 you should be retreating already, and he can escape from anywhere in the map, whereas Izerna and Saphira, with their 3 move, have to drop everything they're doing and run toward the escape point even earlier than the rest of the army.

I don't deny that Izerna and Saphira have their strengths and perks. I can even see Izerna being better than Owen once she's trained, but Saphira being "much better" than Owen as a light mage is just something I cannot imagine. Also, I think you undervalue Owen a bit too much. By the way you're talking, it's as if he's completely worthless, and that is just not the case.

Now you are forgetting about Owen?

Well, excuuuuuUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuse me, princess! I was just trying not to spoil the fact that

Spoiler

Perceval is a mercenary, hence why I didn't mention the fact that you can't even take the orb off of his inventory for most of the game,

but I suppose it doesn't matter now, does it?

Of course either way that weapon is gonna stay blue for a very long time.

Yeah, I know that, I was just trying to avoid saying it now...

Jikes... yeah, with the liquid magic she only needs to get 2 points, which means she'll have it by the time she loses Paragon.

Well, they're both great weapons, let's leave it at that.

Yeah, don't know about favorite, but it certainly became a nightmare after chapter 9...

Hahahahahah... Don't remind me, please...

Which is why you should have went for Gonzij first, since the northern part will become busy soon enough.

Everyone, stop reminding me of my failures! I know this well enough...!

Somehow I doubt that...unless you bring Ward there to guard him every turn.

Bah... I still have faith. I mean, I've also already played the full chapter and thus I know what's going to happen, but... I have faith!

I like Perceval, he is much better than Aegina and Owen is busy enough with healing. Not having a personal weapon hurts in the late game, but there are still enemies weak to magic so doesn't feel like a waste to bring him there. The only problem he have is, getting the skills for promotion.

I like Perceval too, he just frustrates me because he always seems to miss when I desperately need him to hit. Probably just a me thing.

In another news, I finally managed to reach chapter 15.

You better kill the final boss with Derrick. That is the only way to finish Berwick Saga.

Spoiler

Says me, who Our Bond'd him in both of my past runs.

Hah! Oh God, no, that's not funny at all...!

Basically what happens when you mix a meme with a creepypasta. "first I'm gonna pick you up, never gonna let you down, gonna break your bones and ignite you. Gonna make your screams acute, then I will electrocute, yeah I'm gonna kill destroy crush and blight you, blight you". You know, mixing events from the old "Ben Drowned" creepypasta with the lyrics/flow of the original... albeit with a darker tone. I mean the "you know the rules and so do I" remained the same. As did the " you up, never gonna let you down".

Ah, I see!

I know, but the "who's never wrong, but always right" line always comes to mind. Also because it's you, "who gets stuck with all the bad luck" is appropriate.

That song doesn't really fit Donald at all... I'm guessing it's on purpose? With these old cartoon themes I can never tell. They all seem invariably upbeat and cheery, no matter what the cartoon's about.

Alm slips while going down the stairs and breaks his neck.

Roll credits.

I meant the last update of my LP compared to the last map you did. Not listing those things off again, but there's a few parallels. Maybe I thought more of it because I was working on said update when I read yours and kept thinking "this reminds me of what happened in mine a bit".

Ohhh... Right, I can see the similarities, yes.

Least it wasn't his mother. Unlike Oedipus. Though to be fair, the guy didn't know.

Sheesh...

Why does the game keep referring to them as brothers when Lynette is obviously a girl? No wonder Reese is ignorant of her feelings.

Goddamnit, the language barrier again! You see, in spanish, there is no such word as "siblings". There's a female version of "brother", but when referring to a brother and a sister together, you just say "brothers". Spanish is funny like that.

Wow. First move, and you've already got a death edit. Nice work Happy Axel Man.

Axel is great.

"I'm desperate to lose my life, so if you'll attack me just do it quickly. Know what I mean?"

Ahahahah... Well, given how often he misses, it wouldn't surprise me if this were true.

I can't wait for Navarre to try that. It'll be interesting to see.

Pffft... Well, I mean, he already did. He just changed his name to Volo, but he couldn't escape his edgy ways, so the stratagem failed.

Well, now I can tell she turns into some kind of mage. Like the magic drops didn't say that.

Yeah, all in all, it's pretty obvious.

I like how he's standing on the oars. While wearing armor. And raising a sword to the sky in a storm. In a very large rowboat.

Well, I did say it was a completely different context for no reason whatsoever. The filename doesn't lie, either.

I mean... just keep reading.

I think I missed him once and he wasn't playable, just like Owen.

Wonderful.

AhAhahahahahaha, you don't get the joke?

No, actually. What is it? What's so funny about Perceval?

I built it for Adel, and I think it has +6 crit, nine-ish might, 6 or 7 hit out of 10 and it can be thrown. But I'm pretty sure that throwing it breaks it, which is kinda a waste unless it's already at red or something.

Yeah, as Ranger said, that's not it at all. That's just you being unlucky, as usual.

Turns 14 and 20 add bosses, If memory serves.

Yep. Turn 20 boss needs to die for a tactics point. Turn 14 boss needs to die to prevent everyone in the army from dying horribly instead.

Time for an unfunny meme that contains spoilers!

3u8yasra o

Last time, we were defending the town of Lebron against... well, sometimes against the Empire. Half the time there weren't enemies to be seen.

Gvgugyfq o

Ah, there you are! You know, I was actually afraid I'd erased this dude from existance back in turn 10, when I had Arthur stand on one of the enemy spawn tiles. Thankfully, I had just gotten his spawn time wrong.

Anyway, at first, this dude was a huge mystery for me. He didn't appear in my first run, but he did in my second one. I couldn't understand his deal. There's absolutely nothing special to this guy. He's a carbon copy of every other generic spearman, he just... has a face, for some reason.

However, in an uncharacteristic display of hilarious luck, I managed to do exactly what I needed to do with him by complete accident - That being to capture him with a certain unit. I intend to do this again. Capturing this dude is vital for that person's character arc, so I'm going to refer to the exception I made back in the OP:

Quote

At the moment, I can think of two exceptions to these two rules: two critical captures that I might have to rig. Capturing is RNG-based in this game, so if I want to showcase as much as possible, I might have to save-scum those two captures.

Yeah. I'm going to see if I can distract him until turn 15 (see if you can guess what character's arc depends on this capture before then! Here's a hint, they're on the field right now), and then I'll just savescum his capture. It's not like I'll gain much from capturing him, anyway. He cannot be ransomed, and his inventory's just a generic spear and shield.

2npd2lls o

First, though, Daoud gets out of the way, because I don't want him to have to start over with his crying.

R9revija oSir, Imperial soldiers are approaching. Please evacuate as soon as possible!

Jadofpfd oImperial soldiers? Ha! Like I'd ever let 'em steal my secret to minin' platinum, either!

Lgjkwhcy o...Platinum? Sir, with all due respect, I do believe you require glasses, because you seem to have spent the last 40 years mining the wrong mineral.

R9revija oIf you stay here, you'll be killed! You have to believe me! Please, listen to what I'm saying!

Jadofpfd oI've been minin' this spot since long before you were born, missy! Now grab a pick and start diggin'!

Lgjkwhcy o Does he try to force everyone he comes across to join him in mining?

Jadofpfd oAin't no Imperial soldier gonna get in the way of me and my platinum!

R9revija oIf it's that valuable, then the Empire will definitely come and take it away! So please... Listen to me! Run away before it's too late!

Fzaguziy o

Lgjkwhcy oSheesh, about time!

R9revija oYes, my name is Enid.

Jadofpfd oWell, if ya really want me to... I guess I can put my work on hold. But as soon as it's safe, I'm comin' right back home, got it?!

R9revija oYes, of course...

Jadofpfd oAll righty then! Guess I'll head out.

R9revija oThank you!

Lgjkwhcy oYes, head out. With great haste, if at all possible. Your chances of survival aren't looking so great right now...

8jp0fdmv oEtq6u1qf o

Back on this side, I try to surround this guy a bit. I'll try to put powerful, sturdy people around him so he'll keep going after Ruby. Wouldn't be good if he set his sights on, say, Owen.

As for Daoud, he continues to cry.

Qlzssl2h oQfoooagw o

Now, the poleax guy finally moved. Thus, it's time to lance him without fear of retaliation.

Yiplaxcf o

Awesome! Now, if he can finish him next turn, it'll be swell. If not, that's okay, he can just charge away, far out of his range.

4jmyaznw o

More reinforcements. Wait... isn't that... an enemy lancer!? Already!? No, but I only just got my own lancer! Don't put me on the receiving end of it already, game! Let me enjoy life for at least a map or two!

Eagh6hpy o......

Eagh6hpy oIf they do not resist us, then we will have no need to fight them, yes? That should suffice for our mission. Come, let us be off.

Lgjkwhcy o Oddly civil, considering what we've heard of the man. But I suppose it's true that the worst monsters are the ones that are good at hiding their true colors...

Mhn5dhkm oFapt9mog o

Anyway, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This guy. This guy is so powerful. I think that, if given enough room to charge, he can one-shot everyone but Ward and Clifford. And the worst part is, this dude's AI is actually pretty smart. He won't blindly rush in. He'll very slowly creep forward, until somebody is in his range. Then he will charge with Minas to deal maximum damage.

Kjkoxdkn oDjacb9oq o

Speaking of, she's not quite as powerful, but 26 mixed damage isn't something I want to face. Especially with Supporter to ensure she won't miss. Thankfully, getting rid of her is really easy. It's Theodore I'm worried about...

K0pyvpvg oJfyfz30i o

Well, we'll worry about those two later. For now, it appears my little stratagem is working.

Kzkjy3rc o

Gonjiz is on the move. He better hurry. He has 10 turns to make it on his 4 movement, which I feel might just barely be enough.

Qtg0hh51 o

Ho! Before I forget! I gotta deal with you!

Zicvwlsl oDyizzqyj o

Absolutely wonderful.

Uuionlwq o

And now, back. I'll want that lance in Theodore's face very soon.

8el6kkhp o

As for Axel, he hides in the manor.

Zigqdmgi o

This guy, instead of firing at Clifford, walked over to this house and just waited. What's his deal?

Talokiu1 o

Oh. I see what his deal is, yes.

...Meh. Fine by me. He's rather out of the way, I can let him be for now.

6qjpyx91 oMuwgxfln o

You, on the other hand...

Uehgeqfe o

Kaboom! See, his accuracy with the iron lance might've been better, but could he have one-shot with it? Mm?

A8sfmgig oWspu6ojb o

The son of a bitch... and the daughter of a bitch, too! See what I meant?! Instead of making a beeline for us, they're just waiting for us to slip up and leave someone in their range! Well, it ain't happening!

X203o2ad o

This is how things are looking. I'll probably have most people on the west pull back and reinforce the middle of the town. I'm going to need all hands on deck if I want to have any chance to defeat Theodore.

Pbiuch7l o

Ah, so it's turn 15 already! Well, as shameful as it is...

Ojbjm3wa oN1c26c5a o

It's time to reset until he gets injured.

Eubtahoe o

Hooaaaagh! Whoa...! Holy shit, I hadn't thought about that! Of course he's going after Gonzij! Thankfully, I don't think he can kill him... but what if he's crippled? This opens up a huge legal void in my exception that I hadn't counted on.

Ydwgsx6g oVzmpf82h o

Ahhh, I'm sure you can forgive me. He never got to nail Gonzij, anyway. In the third or fourth try, he already got injured. That's way faster than it was my second run, so I'm happy.

Nocjmefp oZqnl0xnc o

And with that...

D92proui o

It's done. Now, as for whose arc advances with this capture...

Jrrgpl7x oKufhusjv o

If you guessed Daoud, give yourself a pat in the back. You were correct. From what I've heard from another person, the events will be unlocked even if Daoud doesn't capture this dude personally, but I still like to do it with him.

Opohrmdj o2mqmhrvo oZfyehvpa o

We also get a generic spear and shield, which is nice.

D7jicwd9 o88xiliai oCz8jahsq oXhhrzl2p o

Poor archer dude, though. His luck is hilariously bad. He didn't have time to set up overwatch before Clifford clocked him, and then Ward was already inside his range, so it didn't even do him any good.

Md8tgaeh o

Okay, so that's Minas and Theodore's range. Is there any chance he'll...

Lakfzjs6 oCgafmgfn o

Nope, no dice. Bastard wants us to make the first move. I could potentially deal with the crossbowman first, but I don't think waiting on this issue will do us any good.

8c8u1yyg o

Yeah... the sooner those two are out of our hair, the better.

987weh2k o1x2pv4dj o

Math time it is. Theodore has 4 less points of strength than Clifford, therefore his max range damage is 38. Ward has 38 hitpoints and 10 defense. He also cannot be crippled. Thus...

Dxfq5hvl o

Ward will tank the hit. Clifford could do it too, but he'll do better damage with his lance than Ward.

Vn6okh5c o

Sheesh... that damage, though...!

Apz7aosv o

Altkdyko o

Okay, we're still alive. All limbs attached. Now, better be careful not to wander inside Minas's range. Should be simple enough.

Mjh9yq1f o

First of all, patch Ward up immediately. I don't want that one crossbowman getting any funny ideas.

Yjjv4rvb o

See that? If he gets through the shield, Ward is dead. Asshole... not today!

That'll do for now.

Rwg3nycv o

Uhh! Well then. Get something good and prove Brightbow wrong.

You're still the best in my heart, Owen.

Xwkfly3j o

And now, on to the second part of the strategy: throw everything at Theodore and hope for the best.

Axreogq4 o

Zblcbs6k o

Minas has joined Theodore. Admirable, really, how she will follow him no matter what. However...

Ack! You little shit! Who do you think you are? Get outta here, faceless! I'm dealing with the named boss now! You'll get your turn!

Nyddcz2m o

Speaking of, let's see how he likes a taste of his own technique!

Uipo5fpq o

Hahah! Even nailed him through the shield!

8aatht8y o

Run south. If he's still alive by next turn - which I hope he isn't - you'll be able to deal an even meaner hit.

Yub1t76e o

This could be it. I just need you to hit twice, Perceval!

Hy2wejh5 oP6awrsqm o

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SEE!? SEE!? This is exactly what I was talking about! The bastard can never land his shots when I need him to! What do I do now?!

Scsopz5n o

...You've got to go. No two-ways about it. I need that spot to continue attacking Theodore. It cannot be helped: the time has come.

Lmygj9ni o

Ucamyep4 o

Now-- Oh, by the way, I forgot to point it out, but we've got more reinforcements coming at us from behind. Just one more reason to get rid of Theodore fast.

Jrcj7unc o

Hah! That'd be really funny. But no.

2wdlv5mq o

This is how Ruby's damage looks with the rapier. Not good enough, not nearly so...!

D1rukwzg o

Spear time it is, then. She can finish him off, though a shielded blow will still leave him low enough. If she misses, well... I think we'll try our luck with Percy again next turn.

Ngufgujt o

Ah, excellent! Thank you, Ruby. Thank you so very much.

Smgsgwx6 o

Theodore is no more. May Minas forever be free from his abuse. I mean, the abuse that a random stranger accused him of inflicting upon her. A random stranger who asked us to bring her to him in a net.

Dunno about you guys, but I totally believe him. I mean, he even gave us a Doofenshmirtz-sized sob story and all! No way he's a barselphony!

...this isn't fooling anyone, is it...

Z1nmbatj o

I wonder what this could be?

Ostaizcx o

Eh, I guess we'll find out when it is relevant.

Well! That went smoothly. I think it's about time we got ready to escape. There really isn't much more we can do here.

Ahhh, that's great! By moving Arthur there, I prevented Gonzij from putting himself in harm's way. I wish I could say that was on purpose.

Glcsrmkj o

All right, there shouldn't be much of a reason to have anyone go anywhere but the escape point.

Oc0d5too o4r8j2p4e o

Oh, you know what I said earlier about Gonzij having 4 move? Well, apparently I was wrong. He just has 3. That's... that's terrible, but I think he can make it. I mean, if he can't, that's just terrible news for Marcel, who is even further away from the escape point.

Idzs6zij o

The plan to get that scylla orb is to send Clifford. With his horse, he can easily run in, whack him, and run back. If he misses... well, them's the breaks, I suppose.

Gjv4vnuu o

That's just the cherry on top of the pie. He needs 30 thunder skill to promote. In my second run, I was able to get him and Aegina to promote... in the last five maps. Honestly, though, much like Aegina's, Perceval's promotion is mostly worthless.

3cdd5c88 oXoou9fhe o

This is a war of attrition. One that will last way too long. Or, well, it would, if it wasn't for the fact that we have a time limit.

Vmbggcdc o

Nngh... that's a few too many enemies around... I mean, it's just two, but either one could finish off Gonzij. Also, crit. I don't like crit. It's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.

Eksgqh0d o

Yeah, yeah, whatever.

7p386iie o

Hey, the critty guy has this! It may look like just a regular ol' generic shield, but it's actually an Erzheimer item. See how it says "Imp. Knight" instead of "soldier"?

Ptqjj0ja o

Yeah, yeah, I'm on it, Reese.

Aqldffdg o6ledqbal o

Ortmann's beard is magnificent, but aside from that, he's really just a generic general. Better than Lyarc, but that doesn't take much. The biggest problem with him is that he appears on turn 20. It'll be difficult to kill him for the tactics point, and escape afterwards.

...That's what my plan with Daoud was. I wanted to use the vanishstone to move him next to Ortmann's spawn point undetected, spawnkill him with a pulverize + battle cry combo, then have him escape with the escapestone the next turn.

Of course, because I'm a complete, useless idiot, I forgot to do this in time, so now I'm... not sure what I'm gonna do.

It's time, Ward. Daoud is through and Gonzij is far away. They can have the bridge now!

K08f02qu o

They're closing in on us. Too bad...

7da0uw23 o

Mhipetlx o

A couple of our units can't escape this turn, sadly. Arthur can reach with Hurry, but as it turns out, you can't escape after using Hurry just as you can't do anything else.

B3omeh0n oBhtqf8tm o

Well, it doesn't matter. Clifford and Ward contained them long enough that they can't reach Perceval before he leaves.

Vqkdsxit o

This is all that remains to be done... I cannot wait any longer. It's too late to set up the pulverize battle cry combo.

0u6p2bte o

...You know what? Screw it. Let's take a chance. If Daoud hits Ortmann through the shield, he'll be low enough that a regular pulverizing could finish him next turn. In which case, I'll gladly take a captured Daoud. That's fine, I can spare the cash. If Daoud fails, I can have him escape next turn with the stone. It's not the greatest plan, but I'll take it at this point.

Ggl5u74l o

Stealth time is over. Cue in the boss theme!

Lm1yyzrr o

You wish! As much as I respect that beautiful beard, I'm afraid you have to die. A tactics point hangs in the balance, you see.

Uprruycw o

Yes! Yes! Thank you so much! We're not out of the woods yet, but... this is looking good.

Biz10m6a o

No matter. Every other enemy is too far away to assist their leader.

Yhgkinqh o

Hmmm... what if... what if he misses, and Daoud whacks him through the shield again? That'd be so lucky... I'd get away with the boss kill and a healthy Daoud!

Ziwhrrfq oH6ljefls o

Wow. Could it really be... am I getting lucky again?

Zqiek8rj o

D'AAAWWWWWWWWWWAAARRRGH! You blew it, Daoud! Ah, but don't worry. You're doing well, very well indeed.

Li3fzz5n o5xcibxxo o

Well, that's it. It's the point of no return.

Veenyxqy o

...Or not! Another chance...? Second time's the charm? C'mon!

Yrxpgqmd o

Bwaaah, goddamnit!

Dbuarar6 o

Fine, then. We have a 63% chance to win. Either way, he'll be captured, but he's safe otherwise. Ironically enough, the time limit will save his life if he misses and Ortmann hits him.

O1i4hlvy o

Let's go, Daoud! I believe in you! Think about the kids! If you have any!

Skik1mio o

YEEEESS! I am so proud of you, man! Well done, formidably done, amazingly done!

Kswsckal o

You got that right, but it's not so bad.

Z8fshqmf oQjxekxnw o

At least the big experience boost will help to make up for the fact that he'll miss out on the entire chapter.

Oh yeah, I should've mentioned. I think I've said before how crippled units have to spend the entire chapter resting? Well, being captured via time limit automatically cripples the unit, so Daoud won't get to participate in either of the sidequests. But that is fine. He has done a good job this day.

Dqiphl49 oLgtzlbco o

Sigh... Godspeed.

1bj9hzbv o

Don't you worry about a thing! I'll get you out, I promise...!

Well, that's it. Sacrificing Daoud was unfortunate, but at least he won't be gone forever. Other than that, though, the map went rather smoothly! We got the Erzheimer item, we fulfilled all the requests, we even got the old man out despite my crippling inadequacy! I'm happy enough with the way things have turned out.

Next time, we return to Navarron and get character events. Also, sidequests. Till then, please, I beseech you: Farewell!

The blue haired soldier actually reappears in at least two later maps if he isn't captured here. And yes, that even happens if he gets killed. Guy is freaking immortal.
He is also vulnerable to cripples. So Flourish probably wasn't needed here if you gonna rig a capture anyway. At least I would guess that it's more likely to cripple him by knocking him to 1 HP then it is to Injure him using Flourish.

But she's a swordmaster, not a savant...

Mortal Savant is that weird class which puts Sword and Reason together (Being the only master class which uses Sword that isn't Falcoknight), which leaves it in a weird place. The mounted magic classes usually have ways to use their new elements better than this class can. Gremory's just more fun magic wise. And even then hope they have good speed beforehand because MS reduces speed growth because fuck you. It only really works for Byleth (who has Enlightened One so why bother?), Ignatz (If you're not focusing on his bows as much) and arguably Felix. Manulea has Reason bane, Dorothea doesn't have the speed to work with it, Edelgard doesn't need magic because Amyr is that fucking busted, Catherine isn't built for magic and everyone who focuses on magic doesn't want this class.

1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Yeah, I can understand that. When everyone can be a wyvern, why not make 'em?

Because Falcoknights?

Because Bow Knights?

Because you use magic?

Because you want to fist things?

Because you've got a lord class that's really solid dammit?

Because you're the fucking Death Knight?

Because of a DLC class? (I don't know how good any of these are at present)

You'd be surprised how quickly that list narrows things down. GK only works for Gilbert because anything else will take ages, MS is actually kind of weak as I've said, some of the advanced classes have better things going for them (see: Sniper in Maddening, Grappler's adjutant, Warlock's sheer power and weapon uses), I feel class balance is an issue beyond just "Oh, fliers are OP", because they are (Half my team in the end of SS were flying, as were many of the students besides. That should be enough of an answer).

Ahahahah... well, Marcel does have some actual skills to compensate for the secret -1 move. I'd say his is the better skillset. Not talking about their performances as units.

That's not good.

...You know what?

That's a plan I suppose.

Angry Axe triumphs.....

Only to get captured.

Come to think of it, why make him a prisoner of war? He killed the commander, those guys should want him dead.

We got the Erzheimer item, we fulfilled all the requests, we even got the old man out despite my crippling inadequacy! I'm happy enough with the way things have turned out.

Next time, we return to Navarron and get character events. Also, sidequests. Till then, please, I beseech you: Farewell!

Daoud in another timeline.

Saving the soldiers in Chapter 4 has had more of a positive effect than we expected.

Shame Reese can't promote after this chapter because of Chapter 5.

Yeah, I can understand that. When everyone can be a wyvern, why not make 'em?

Because I like a bit of variety in my teams? I say after playing chapter 6 of Shadow Dragon with three healers, a Paladin, four cavaliers, two thieves (admittedly one to recruit the other) and a pegasus knight who may as well be a paladin on an indoor map so my team looks very much unvaried. I mean, there was Ogma and Barst... but otherwise.

Not quite. The lance is shown in yellow text because it's a special weapon that only mounted units can use. The pike, a spear that can only be used by foot soldiers, is similarly highlighted in yellow. If I recall correctly, anyway. Either way, I can assure you that what you just said is not the case.

A yellow lance? This sounds familiar...

One of the comments referred to it as a "Ben-Roll". I always found that funny. The concept that the "ghost in the machine" from the story, on being uploaded to the internet at the end, took to rick-rolling people so much it did it's own version of the song.

Yep. The song is essentially a 1947 display of sarcasm, where exactly one line of the song (the second last) is actually truthful. Then again, when I think about it, that particular line just about fits you as well.

Goddamnit, the language barrier again! You see, in spanish, there is no such word as "siblings". There's a female version of "brother", but when referring to a brother and a sister together, you just say "brothers". Spanish is funny like that.

Could be a worse language barrier/translation thing. I mean, Cinderella went from having a fur slipper to a glass slipper because of such. The former making more sense. As to why her feet fit a fur slipper when hers sisters didn't... it was a bit more gruesome. She lacked toes from living in a rat-infested room.

4 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Seriously, Benice, can you explain to me how you failed to do this? It's so absurdly easy...

Mostly because Perceval is bad at hitting things and because I had six crippled units. They were all trying to run away and blocked Reese from actually reaching Minas, and by the time I actually managed to get to capture her, Theodore would kill somebody with an awful hitrate. He even killed Faye with a frickin' eight percent!

But I blame Minas because she killed a whole bunch of my crippled units while saying that she wouldn't follow if they ran away.

And broke the Gram.

And killed Axel with a crit.

Why not? The boss shows up at turn 20 from 24 and the escape point is at the opposite edge of the map. Cavalry might make it back if they could kill him in one turn. But the only things that can properly damage him are axes or magic, neither of which is available to any playable mounted units so far.
Bobkin Arrows and Rapiers exist. But their might is too low to deal much damage against a General. Most certainly not enough enough to reach the escape point in time.

In any case, Max Power Daoud with the War Pick is probably the best option here. Don't know if Ruben's Daoud was high enough level for that weapon, though.

Near the scylla guy, there's this. It's a pseudo-lance for non-mounted units (see the +2 charge bonus), which is fine, but I don't have time to get it. We'll have more chances to obtain these, anyway.

While it's an interesting concept, I'd say it's a pretty bad weapon. I already expressed my opinion on 40% hit spear, but the funny thing is that this weapon actually is completely inferior to the Longspear. Considering the Pike with 6+2 can at best reach an attack power of 14 if using the full 4 movement. Meanwhile the Longspear starts out at 12 attack and will match the max power of the Pike with just 2 tiles. They also have the same price, despite the Longspear also having superior durability.
The only advantage the Pike has is that it's Rank is lower by 1.

This is the same console with Uncharted 4.

I'm pretty sure I have options other than 1886 beyond that

Oh yeah, I just like to make fun of 1886 when I get the chance. It's one of those games that I find to be extremely funny, like Heavy Rain.

I used Manuela as a savant in my one complete run. She was pretty serviceable. Made for a killer three, her, Nuke Hanneman and Lesser Nuke But Still Nuke Dorothea.

Because Falcoknights?

Still a flier, my point stands.

Because Bow Knights?

Yeah, I'll give you this, but bow knight isn't exactly a shining example of balance when it knocks every other bow class out of the park with its ridiculous range.

Because you use magic?

Fair enough.

Because you want to fist things?

Fists are bad though. Sure, you can fist things... or you can use a brave weapon that can be purchased at the store.

Because you've got a lord class that's really solid dammit?

The lord classes look cool but they're really not all that when they can just as easily go wyvern for the movement and flight.

Because you're the fucking Death Knight?

Same deal as the lord classes.

Because of a DLC class? (I don't know how good any of these are at present)

I have no idea either, but I doubt they beat easily accessed flight.

Actually, I enjoyed the customization in Three Houses. It's just a combination of very poorly balanced classes, easily broken difficulty and huge periods of time spent not fighting that drag that aspect down.

That's not even counting the turns in between where she has to walk from place to place.

Point being that's a lot of turns where your level 1 unit's not fighting.

Yes, I agree.

I thought she needed 5 magic, which is bracketed.

Yes, that's... that's why I said it's not as RNG as the WpSkill requirements.

Also, it's lightning isn't it? Because Perceval.

Hah! Fair guess, and she does use lightning, but it's not her main thing. You shall see...

He has the worst secret skillset.

Well, look at poor Lyarc. All he had was a weakness to cripplings.

I mean, you had to get a treasure to have the money, so there's your help right there.

Ahh, you meant... right, right. Yeah, you're right there.

I'm finding it a fine experience so far.

Also, it's yet another thing to co-op with the niece, who's played the first map so far.

I'm glad for you and the niece.

Give me reasons to quote the Black Knight, I shall quote the Black Knight.

Black Knight is just the most generic name, isn't it? There's a Black Knight in everything. Sometimes there's even a lot of Black Knights! What about the Green Knights, huh? Where are the Green Knights?

This is because of Reinhardt's heroes art where he's got tiny hands.

For some reason.

Maybe she's asking if Dime Thunder makes his hands small.

Ahhh, that makes sense.

Heheheheh...

I wasn't expecting it to be this easy.....

Or this rewarding.

Good job Reese.

There's no stopping the Leen Meen Creet Macheen Reese.

Well this can only end poorly.

Ahah... hah...

Good job too I guess.

At least there's that.

Man you're a bit paranoid.

It's a less than 25% chance of her dying after a 3% chance to miss. 0.75% chance, so that's 7.5 times out of a thousand.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then I missed like 5 minutes after that. I am content with my decisions.

Obiligatory well fuck berwick's fucked line.

If these guys don't wreck you Arran in particular fell off.

I mean, his growths blow, and at this point he's been around for hundreds of years. Plenty of time to fall off.

Then again, if you put him in Berwick with his stock FE12 bases, he'd be one of the best units in the game, right up there with Clifford. In raw stats, at least. That's how low Berwick stats are.

So, where's their official "Are we the baddies?" badges?

Arran'll be handing them out soon enough.

How did a Kuriboh get here?

Pffffft...

That's not good.

No. It is not.

Lucky.

I mean, it was just one turn reset, but still, I don't want my stats to look worse than they already do.

Also I see you trying to make Albertus the bad guy again.

Hey, he purposely missed!

That's one way it could go to hell.

See, I was right not to risk it.

Also:

Wm1xy25d o

Enid: Surrender please!

Imp.: I don't think so.

Lxrcjo7t o

Enid: oof ouch owie my bones.

Bwahahahahahahah, that was funny.

That's a plan I suppose.

It is a thing.

Angry Axe triumphs.....

Only to get captured.

Come to think of it, why make him a prisoner of war? He killed the commander, those guys should want him dead.

Maybe everyone secretly hated Ortmann because they were envious of his beard, and they were happy to watch him fall to a beardless man?

...Oh, no, we really are the baddies...

Daoud in another timeline.

No matter the timeline, he's always a real crybaby.

Saving the soldiers in Chapter 4 has had more of a positive effect than we expected.

Shame Reese can't promote after this chapter because of Chapter 5.

It's a shame, but still, it's only one point we missed. He won't take that much longer.

I mean, there was Ogma and Barst... but otherwise

Oh I agree, I agree! I enjoy variety myself. But it's a flaw nonetheless.

A yellow lance? This sounds familiar...

How so? Is there something I'm forgetting? Is it roundabout?

Vanishing instead of going to Navarr(e)on is almost ironic. I'm surprised the city isn't an edgelord that disappears in it's ending.

Hahahahahah... Suddenly everyone's sitting in the middle of a deserted field. Everything disappears... Except for Reiss's axes. He refuses to let go of them, so they're left behind.

One of the comments referred to it as a "Ben-Roll". I always found that funny. The concept that the "ghost in the machine" from the story, on being uploaded to the internet at the end, took to rick-rolling people so much it did it's own version of the song.

Now that's one cheeky demon.

Yep. The song is essentially a 1947 display of sarcasm, where exactly one line of the song (the second last) is actually truthful. Then again, when I think about it, that particular line just about fits you as well.

Oh yeah, it really does.

...Really, the entire song fits me. Sarcastically so, of course, like Donald himself.

Oh no, I'm Donald Duck.

Alm turns out to have absolutely no charisma, and therefore utterly fails to rally anyone.

Roll credits while Rudolf wonders why his son isn't leading an army to kill him.

Heck, it doesn't even have to be Alm himself. Mycen dies of old age or disease earlier than expected. Roll credits.

O-Oh God, that's... abominable...!

I meant inserting himself into my favourite game over me writing him out of Shadow Dragon. Because either he works his way into my favourite Fire Emblem... which is gonna be an effort... or he works into a different series entirely.

Oohh, yeah. Well, I do hope he tries, just so you can write him out again. Ukyo is a far better character, anyway.

This is one aspect of Berwick I might have trouble with. I can't stand animals getting killed. I'm still pissed from seeing a turtle get run over the other day.

What kind of a monster runs over a turtle...?

Well, back to Berwick. Aye, I can see how that'd be difficult to handle. On the other hand, it's not like the game encourages the killing of horses. Having a horse murdered is always a failure no matter how you look at it. Best case scenario, no horses die ever, but this is an ironman run, of course. Huh. Come to think about it, perhaps I should've been keeping track of the horses that died throughout the game.

It's plane that aeronautical magic has changed in the intervening centuries.

Ahahahahaha, ohh... Goodness...

I feel like you're describing Illyana for some reason. Except it's a guy.

Well... I wouldn't know. Didn't use her in either of her games.

I would too if I could rhyme the damn thing.

You punned Wrys. I'm sure you can do it if you try hard enough.

I mean, at least you didn't waste a barrier, vulnerary and warp-staff use avoiding a death that could have only happened if a low percent crit procced.

Better to be wastefully paranoid than deathly reckless, as far as I'm concerned. Sucks that I'm both more often than not...

Another reason to prefer Wolf to Sedgar. Only one of them's getting hit with crits at base in H5. A 10% chance of getting two defense as a general is not worth it.

I knew I liked Wolf for a reason. And that's his hilarious edgelord look despite the fact that he's got pink hair. He's like a Navarre parody. You know, a Navarre parody in the same game as Navarre.

That's one hell of a prohetic line... given that the writer couldn't have possibly known it'd be true here.

As Brightbow says, given that there's only four turns to escape after he arrives and he's on the other side of the map, it's pretty likely that it would happen.

I mean, at least it's not Thracia. I mean, you miss out two maps you weren't likely to use him on anyway (given mixing around who you use) instead of every chapter from here to the sixth to last.

Yeah, that much is true.

Magic is everything.

Yes, Heroes memes! The anime!

Perceval did this so often that I honestly thought that Mercy made you miss if it would kill the target.

Pfffft... okay, so it wasn't just me. I'm glad.

Oh my God, I'm so sorry...

But I blame Minas because she killed a whole bunch of my crippled units while saying that she wouldn't follow if they ran away.

Yeah, you can blame wonky AI shenanigans for that. Remember Matthis and his sister? Yeah... it's a meme for a reason.

And broke the Gram.

And killed Axel with a crit.

Not Axel!

This guy. This guy is so lucky! Of the aforementioned six crippled units I had, this guy crippled three of them! He just would not dodge or miss! This guy MUST be Raven, because the amount of times he defied death were insane.

Pffft... so the ones who completely obliterated your army were the woman who doesn't want to pursue fleeing enemies, and the kid who doesn't even want to fight at all. Talk about irony.

Also, you can actually kill him on this map and he still appears again later.

That's just preposterous!

THIS IS THE REASON SHE BREAKS MY MIND! SHE ATTACKED MY UNARMED, CRIPPLED CLERIC WHILE SAYING THIS! WHAT ELSE WAS IZERNA GONNA DO TO YOU?

Well...

...I've got nothing. I'm sorry.

How did you even get these?

By blocking the escape points, letting three civilians out so the map wouldn't end before the two of them died, and then waiting for the enemy to murder them.

I can confirm that Meia dying does nothing. Maybe she counts toward the civilian total, but the map doesn't instantly end if she falls, like Catherine.

Why have I seen all of these?

Ouch...

The worst was when I made it to turn 19 with no casualties and a successful capture of Minas when a civilian died and caused a game over because I cannot count and thought that three had already escaped.

Turn 19, too?! Those are the worst resets in Berwick... those four turns feel like forever!

Jesus christ, I feel bad about how poorly I did on this map now...

Don't beat yourself up. It happens.

I dunno, I was just prankin' ya.

Ah, okay. Very funny.

I wonder how many tactics points I got. Evidently not enough for Reese to early promote, but eh. Broke the Gram anyways, so he couldn't do much.

The requirements are in Serenesforest, if you're curious.

Nah, I don't think so. Still, I did the math and with Pulverize he would've been able to whack him in one no matter what. I was just too incompetent to pull it off. Just glad it worked out, in the end.

I mean... that escape stone does exist. If you could kill him in three or less, you should be able to use that at least. So I kind of assumed that was the intended way out.

If you use a rider, they can make it back just in time. There's also a certain brand of satisfaction to be had in piting Ward against Ortmann. Beard v Beard: Dawn of Beard.

Truly this is Chapter 10 of conquest. No enemies!
I suppose so yes.

Oh yeah, I'm back baby!

Welcome!

inb4 his name is Imperial.

Well, I mean... could be?

7 str and 10 spd... huh? How is this guy even functioonable?

He's "functionable" because raw stats matter diddly-squat in Berwick Saga. People do grow (in fact I just went to check my endgame stats from past runs and I was legitimately impressed), but it's a lot slower, more gradual. Nothing like FE, where units get three levels per chapter and if they have less than 3 stats they're worthless.

Well Berwick is berwick and I guess I did miss a bunch.  Wait where's Derick?

Derrick's only available in secondary missions. For now, at least.

Me when I play Breath of the Wild. I use leather shields against gurdians and then when they break I equip an epic one but finding another cheap shield is so easy.

I mean, Marcel has almost 20 defense with the cheapest shield. Not much reason to waste the good ones on the cannon fodder.

Wait why is critting bad?

It wasn't "bad", I was just complaining that he had been 3 points shy of killing the enemy with the crit.

well how convenient this guy knows this girl.

Enid is the daughter of the duchess of the realm. She was established last update to be really popular among the populace, but you didn't read that, of course.

They can't hit Ruby because they have no eyes... was that joke already made?

I must've made it a few times, yes.

Oh btw Ruby is... gorgeous...

Ahahahahahah... Yes she is. But there are better options. In my opinion, at least.

Bwahahahahaha! What's the guy in the middle doing? Is he trying to fly?

That's what we've all been wondering for two LPs now...

Also how do you make gifs? Like those full screenshot ones?

I use gifmaker.me, it's a pretty self-explanatory site.

Oh it's a she? Ok phew,  I thought this was one of those feminine anime men with weird names that end with "a" and confuse my spanish brain. (I mean Minas here)

That would've been pretty a pretty unique plotline, actually. Two men fighting for their love for a trap.

Big brain strats.

The best kind of strats.

GO! *fail* Throw it at him not me! ... man I still love this song.

So do I, though I must say, I like the pirate song better. All in all, though, these tunes are my guilty pleasure.

Hey Sylvis is also beautiful I realized.

Oi! Don't you dare! She's mine!

Ahem, I mean...

...No, I do mean that! She's my waifu, you back off before I kill you!

Oh yeah tactical gameplay and watching Ruben fail... right!

Those are supposed to be the selling points of my LPs, not the waifus!

yeah nothing suspicious at all 😄 Also "doofenshmirtz-sized" lmao.

I mean, it definitely was. All it lacked was a flashback with violins in the background. And a platypus.

Though poor Doofenshmirtz, he took too much shit as a kid.

Doofenshmirtz was not a villain. Half his crap wasn't even evil. I mean, c'mon, one time all he wanted was to eat aged cheese.

"Hey let me give you a question to ponder. Ok you good, now forget about it let's move on" You better not be pulling an FE7 on me Ruben!

In this case, it'll be solved properly. In this update, in fact.

Wow imagine this happening to you. You die and god gives you a 2nd chance because your death was absurd, you slipped and it was enough to kill you. And then revived you gets too excited and slips again and you're motherfukin' dead again. This is what basically happened here.

That's what happens when you try to take out the best unit in the game when you're a generic scrub.

Expecting some remark about the battle forecast? YIKES NOPE.

Enid is cute.

Holy shit, you're compensating for 30 updates of absence by releasing all your thirst in this one. And you missed Paramythis, you poor sod...

But she ain't cute if dead so keep her alive (keep every wahmen alive plz)

I mean, I've lost two already...

gkskf pantless you say???? oooooooooh that looks so fancy and...

...hah.

St. Rubenio: Quiet idiot child!
*bonk*
Me: "ay wey 'so dolio"

I like how we speak in different languages even though our native dialects are the same. Well, not the dialects, actually, but the languages are the same.

My point is, we're both idiot children. Let us keep ogling at fictional women now. But Sylvis is mine. Do not forget.

Hahahaha!

St. Rubenio: What do you laugh at now, prepubescent?

Do I really come across as such a jerk? Preposterous... Preposterous, I say! How dare you, I'll kill you!

- Gonzij's face! BWAHAAHAHA I know it appeared several times already but I just imagine his stupid face when he does sth to mess you over.

To be honest, his shit-eating smile is pretty funny.

It's still not the funniest portrait in the game, though. This exists.

Stx9k60n o

This edit is omega lul.

Believe me, when you've seen it like 50 times it's not as funny anymore. And yes, I've missed that many of these popups.

AHH YES Enid survives!

Wonderful, isn't it? Though she's a game over unit in this map, so I wouldn't have lost her either way.

Yes, so you got millions of these already. Are they just chance based to increase with every use? Kill? It can't be a weapon rank system like in FE gba right?

They're chance based every time you use the weapon, or get hit in the case of shields. You don't have to succeed, either. Missing with a weapon and failing to use the shield can still proc a skill gain.

As for what skill does, it's like your classic FE skill, only split into different weapon types. It increases your accuracy (which is huge in Berwick) with the corresponding weapon type.

I uh.... didn't say anything but on behalf of others I apologize.

Actually, nobody called me paranoid or cowardly. Dayni called me the former, but then I missed on the same chance 5 minutes later, so he was instantly proven wrong.

How do you know? Is it the battle sprite? If so it just takes getting used to I guess.

Look next to Ward's defense. Notice how there's no green number? That's the added defense from the shield, you can notice it in plenty of other battle screens. Since rapiers bypass shields, the shield's bonus isn't displayed. That's how I knew.

Hey btw do you have a beard?

Yes I do! My profile picture is faithful enough. Minus the fancy get-up and the lack of glasses, of course.

I can't get the stache to connect, but I've grown rather fond of the style, overall. I look like a terrorist, a bum and an otaku all at once, I love it.

Considering women make up only like a 30% of the playable cast but 100% of this run's casualties, you should probably prepare for the worst.

Hey, that isn't true! They're only 66.66% of the run's casualties. Though technically he didn't die, Esteban is still lost, so I'd say he should count.

Really? To be honest, I've never used the pike. I just noticed the +2 charge bonus and figured "yeah, might get some use outta this one". Didn't realize it's just plain worse than the longspear.

Reminds me how I got greedy on this map and wanted to feed another kill to Reese at the end of the map. Reese missed and got hit in return. That attack killed his horse and now he could no longer reach the Escape Point. Had to sacrifice Christine by trading her horse for him.

That's why you don't take risks. The RNGoddess is always on the lookout for opportunities. Don't give her any opportunities.

Last time, we rescued the townspeople from Lebron and safely made it out. Er, most of us did, anyway. Now, it's time to see what the characters have to say about the fact that we managed the unbelievable feat of not sacrificing any of the civilians.

Pobpolog oI want to express my thanks to you for all your troubles, Lord Reese.

Meoilxpy oYou needn't thank me, Your Grace. I simply fulfilled the duty that was required of me. Now then, I beg my leave. Good day, Duke Roswick.

R9revija oYes, thanks to Madam Quescria, she is recovering wonderfully. I was told she will be well enough to leave the hospital in 2 or 3 months.

Pobpolog oSo many difficult things have come to pass in this family recently... Catherine must be suffering just as much as we, perhaps even more...

R9revija oGrandfather, there's something I want to ask of you...

Pobpolog oYou are asking it of me? This is quite unexpected. Is there something you want me to buy for you?

0gtn3q0p o

Lgjkwhcy o Of course the little girl wants to become a soldier and murder people in battlefields. Surprisingly enough, the survival of all the civilians isn't a requirement. She joins no matter what, unlike Daoud and Marcel.

Pobpolog oI was afraid you would say that... Have you asked Lord Reese?

R9revija oYes... He scolded me not to ask the impossible of him.

Pobpolog oA natural reaction... I hear you then asked Vanmilion to put in a good word for you instead.

R9revija oUncle Vanmilion was so furious with me after I asked him... I've never seen him look so frightening in my whole life...

Pobpolog o...Even if it means entrusting your safety to another, I will accept it. Who knows? Perhaps Lord Reese will make a knight out of you after all.

Lgjkwhcy oIt won't be Reese, no...

Pobpolog oIn fact, I hope he does. You are special, Enid. It seems destiny is calling you.

Lgjkwhcy oI'm not sure what they're trying to say, here. She is special, but for completely different reasons than what's suggested here.

R9revija oBut why me, Grandfather? What makes me so special?

Pobpolog oYou may still be just a child, but you are the only remaining member of the House of Warrenheit. If you have the will and the ability, the Duchy could be rebuilt.

Eagh6hpy oBut let this not be a letter built upon apologies. I have been promised a small land at the end of this war. You, and I, and your mother will be able to live there in peace.

Eagh6hpy oThough it is hardly worthy of you, please receive this small box, a token of my feelings.

Ajv2gpt9 o

X6zwubb8 oEdit's mine, I just thought it was a bit weird that his facial expression didn't change at any point

Lgjkwhcy o Indeed, ladies and gentlemen. Turns out, Barselphon told the truth. A noble did try to take Minas for himself, but failed, for she was already in love with a lesser knight who was nonetheless a greater man. And then the count, mad with lust, did all in his power so he could snatch her from her beloved's arms. Only problem is, he neglected to mention the tiny, insignificant detail that he was the terrible count, and Theodore was the good man that Minas truly loved.

Uedfz3v4 o And, of course, we have murdered Theodore and brought Minas to her lustful, manipulative stalker. In a net, no less. And the best part? This is a mandatory step toward the character arc of a completely unrelated character. Yes, I just said that. I can guarantee you won't see it coming.

9qk5ifz8 o On the bright side, this does lead to my single favorite scene in the entire game. Seriously, that scene is just... amazing. One of the best moments in the entire game, I'd say. Believe me or not, it's worth doing this shit just to see it. Look forward to it.

Ps4nmuuw oLord Reese, I will focus all my efforts on searching for Lady Minas. Please try not to torture yourself about this...

Lgjkwhcy oKinda difficult not to, wouldn't you say, Tianna? I mean, he literally asked Reese to throw a net on her and he didn't realize how strange that was!

That mine he works in doesn't really specialize in mithril, y'know. He's on the hunt for platinum, which is many times rarer than mithril. All the mithril he sells is actually just a byproduct from trying to find platinum in the ore he digs up.

Ps4nmuuw oReally? So his main focus is platinum?

Ilrbpdns oYep, if Gonzij knew that I considered him a big name in the mithril biz, he'd likely be none too happy about it!

Ps4nmuuw oHow amusing...

Ilrbpdns oWhat's more, that mine hasn't hit any veins of platinum in decades, but he still keeps on digging every day.

Qcyguxzp o

9qk5ifz8 o Something, all right. I wonder what he'll do with the platinum if he ever finds it. Will he just hang it over his door and annoy visitors with the story of how he found platinum after 50 years?

Ps4nmuuw oQuite so.

Ilrbpdns oFifty years, through wind, rain and snow, he's worked that mine... And he's still focused on the same goal he's had all these years. What a passion, eh?

Ps4nmuuw oIt is quite inspiring, in its own way. He has unfalteringly worked with love and dedication for his dream.

Ilrbpdns oAye, he's a man to be respected...

9qk5ifz8 oAlso helps he didn't need to be talked to three times to convince him that, hey, living ain't so bad after all.

Ilrbpdns oThanks for delivering the mithril all the way here, Lady Tianna. With this, I'll be able to make Lord Vanmilion his shiny new sword. Here's a reward as thanks for your and Lord Reese's troubles. I know it's not much, but I hope you'll take it.

Ps4nmuuw oOf course, thank you. I will see you around, Mr. Danton.

Ilrbpdns oSee you! Oh, and please thank Miss Enid for me, too!

Cvxip4bg o

Woohoo, money!

6maqbwud o

Now, for the hairpin.

Hq8rxxxp o

Pj4xam53 oIf anyone can do it, Lady Tianna and the Sinon Knights can.

85plsoz5 oBut my granddaughter's wedding day is coming soon... Will she make it in time?

21lrdwgn o

9qk5ifz8 oYep, looks like she will.

Ps4nmuuw o...Good day, sir!

85plsoz5 o...! I-It's you...!

Ps4nmuuw oMy companions were able to pick up the hairpin and deliver it here. I trust you will be happy with this?

85plsoz5 oO-Of course! With this, I'll be able to give my granddaughter the gift she deserves!

Ps4nmuuw oI'm glad to hear it. I pray she has a blessed future.

S4rl7m6g o

Ps4nmuuw oNo, no, all that I did was ask for a favor from my superiors.

0kqt9qod oI must object, good lady!

Uedfz3v4 o ......

85plsoz5 oIf you hadn't stopped to listen and offer a friendly hand, I never would've gotten my granddaughter's hairpin!

Ps4nmuuw oThink nothing of it. You can simply pay it forward...

85plsoz5 oNo, I want to make it up to you with some kind of reward... Here, take this.

Rflqxaiw o

85plsoz5 oNah, take it! I got it cheap as a favor from a merchant friend of mine. I'd feel awful if I didn't at least give you something... Especially after you and your friends went through all that just for me.

Ps4nmuuw oAll right. Thank you very much.

Djfmzs78 oZneegsgn o

Awww... That was really wholesome. Especially when compared to, y'know, the other sidequest.

Xljvssuq o

Erzheimer!

Kccrqeae oWbalcqh0 o

Take this.

Mhfktxhy oZj26ya3n o

Very good.

Te4znbbz o

And now, it's time for character events! Five, to be precise. This is the generic one that pops up when somebody is crippled, so let's do it first.

R7uwpeed o

Zlonc8lu oHello, Sir Ward. They're up and about now, but they still require occasional treatment. For the sake of their recovery, I must insist that you do not ask them to fight until they are fully healed.

3cxl4xfi oOf course, Sister Luciana. I wouldn't want to do anything to endanger their recovery.

Zlonc8lu oThank you for understanding. I want to see them back to their old self as soon as possible. Also, if any of your other comrades are similarly wounded, please don't hesitate to bring them here.

3cxl4xfi oBless you, Sister Luciana. You've truly been too kind to us.

Awlr6on4 o

Since we're here, let's see Daoud. No, I'm totally not posting these in a different order than I recorded them, why?

8mwjt5be o

I recognize this. And I don't like it one bit.

8temhpng oBg3bfhhi o

So he gets a name. A name that Daoud seems to know, as well. How can that be?

Zlonc8lu oWorry not, Sir Daoud. I will be watching over this boy personally. I am certain he will recover. Please do not worry...

Uootydkn oThank you, Sister Luciana... Please take good care of him...

Zlonc8lu oOf course. Leave his treatment to me.

Ugljapie o

Jseuhecf o

Well, that was a bit of a downer. Especially considering Daoud himself is kinda wrecked as well. Next up, Perceval.

Q360ainx o

Aofpvug6 oI am the mage Perceval. It is an honor to meet you properly.

Meoilxpy oWhat are you doing here? Have you joined the guild?

Aofpvug6 oYes, I plan to live in Navaron for a while, and I need to work if I want to have enough to eat.

9qk5ifz8 o This is one thing I didn't mention about Percy, though somebody spilled the beans early. The truth is, the dire thunder might as well be his personal orb because he's a mercenary, and thus he won't give it to anybody. Not only that, but Perceval is tied with Owen for the second-latest recruitment time. That orb will be used up long before he even has the chance to give it to anybody.

9qk5ifz8 oIncidentally, I truly hope I can keep him and Enid alive. Like Christine and Elbert, they share their character arcs (alongside an NPC that we may've seen before). It's also one of the best arcs in the game. I'd be truly annoyed if I couldn't show this one either.

Meoilxpy oAre you here on some sort of personal business?

Aofpvug6 oI'm looking for someone... When I was young, I was separated from my older sister.

9ushduop o

Meoilxpy oI see... I would like to help you if I could, but I suppose you're the only one who could recognize her... How long has it been since you last saw your sister?

Aofpvug6 oIt's been about ten years now. Our village in Leia was burned down soon after the war began. I was six, and she was eight... If I met her today, I don't know if I'd be able to tell it was her...

Meoilxpy oAnd you have no other clues? What about her name?

Aofpvug6 oI had a bad head injury when I escaped, and I can't remember her name anymore...

Lgjkwhcy o Oh, all right. So you know there is a person in the world who is your sister. You have no idea what she looks like or what her name is, but you saw "a vision" telling you that she's here in Navaron. Holy shit, you're never going to find her at this rate...

Aofpvug6 oAll I have is this. She gave me this icon when we were running, and that was the last time I saw her.

N5ppfdaa oM8wkrthr o

3cxl4xfi oWhat a finely carved piece... Certainly the work of an artisan.

Aofpvug6 oMy father was a wood-carver. He gave that to my sister. If she saw it now, I'm sure she would still recognize it.

3cxl4xfi oHowever, there are countless orphaned young women in Navaron who would be about her age... Finding your sister among them will certainly be no easy task.

Meoilxpy oPerceval, I just had an idea.

0xtns5f4 o

Aofpvug6 oThank you very much! In the meantime, I will be working here for quite a while, I imagine. If you could use a mage, please consider hiring my services.

Meoilxpy oI am sure that I will.

Lgjkwhcy oIf Aegina doesn't get her act together...

Meoilxpy oWe can always use another mage.

Jeqm6dmn o

Next up, an Adel event!

Xz6h5qo4 o

Eyyyyy if it isn't you! Maybe this'll be the famous "good vibes" Butterman so desperately seeks?

H24blq3o oYou mean giving her my room key as a "lucky charm"?

Oipvxybb oOf course! In all my many years of rich experiences, I've never known a woman who didn't fall for that!

H24blq3o oRich experiences, huh? Well, your plan blew up in my face...

Oipvxybb o...What?!

H24blq3o oWhy on earth did I listen to you? Why would I say something so stupid to her? She must be disgusted with me...

Oipvxybb o...Still, there's a clear message you can take from all this.

H24blq3o oReally? And what's that?

6rfengkr o

Lgjkwhcy o Ah, all right. Yes, very good. You're just a genius of the art of talking to people who are feeling down, aren't you?

Oipvxybb oNow that you know that, you can formulate a different plan of attack!

H24blq3o o...Leon, are you trying to make an even bigger fool out of me? No more plans or tricks. I'm giving up on her.

Lgjkwhcy oSo what you're telling me is, Adel has half-assedly tried one move on his crush and is giving up after it failed to work. Whoa, Adel is the avatar character of Berwick Saga... So relatable!

Oipvxybb oC'mon, Adel! You can't give up so easily! Haven't you ever heard the phrase "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"?

Xsynwfpo o

9qk5ifz8 o Leon, on the other hand, has just pulled a legitimately great line out of his ass-- Wait, did he just make a meta reference to his most remarkable skill? Seriously?

H24blq3o oThis isn't a battlefield, Leon, and I'm certainly not about to challenge Lumiere to a duel to the death. I can't be like you, Leon. I can only be me.

Oipvxybb oYou'll never get Lumiere to fall for you if you keep being yourself! Lumiere's a popular girl in this city. She's got brains, a pretty face, and a damn fine body, if I do say so myself.

Lgjkwhcy oI mean, at risk of sounding pompous, I'd say the fact that she's literally a master of the otherwise lost craft of creating orbs that can do anything from healing wounds to burning people alive is more remarkable than dem boobsies.

Oipvxybb oI hear there are rich boys from all across town lining up to pop the question to her. What have you got that they can't already give her, huh? You couldn't compete with guys like that in a million years!

Iazyftcc o

Txzubig9 o What!? Now he's referencing Adel's Vantage? Yeah, these are definitely meta references! The absolute madman Kaga did not just one, but two meta jokes in this one scene! Unbelievable!

H24blq3o oI don't have anything to offer... That's why I should just give up... I'm done... I'm through with this, Leon...

2j9iq7v8 o

For some reason, the screen fades to black here.

K1g9bh45 o

Oipvxybb oAlex, another round! I need a drink after trying to talk some sense into this blockhead...

Xhqpmjzv oSure thing. What's the deal with Adel?

Oipvxybb oHe's all by his lonesome tonight, stricken with a broken heart. As my best friend, his joy is my joy, but his sadness also my sadness...

9qk5ifz8 o Between the "battlefield of love" meta-phors and this bit of poetry, it seems like Leon was the true failed poet all along.

Xhqpmjzv oBut you don't look so sad, Leon... In fact, you seem pretty happy about what happened with Adel.

Oipvxybb oHey, not so loud! He's right here, y'know!

Xhqpmjzv oTrue, but it looks like he's already fallen asleep.

Oipvxybb oOh... Huh. Well, this kind of thing only happens once in a blue moon! This uptight guy, falling in love?! The Goddess must be playing some kind of trick on us mortals!

X9innbr2 o

Lyvrdboo o

Uedfz3v4 o ...Ergh... okay, may I ask why you've started to laugh maniacally? Seriously, this has always mystified me! Why does he start cackling here?!

Xhqpmjzv o......

Xhqpmjzv oYou feeling all right, Leon? You're acting real funny...

Ozt9tab7 o

Yeah, how about we pretend that last bit never happened and move on with our lives?

Pxkrttml o

Very erotic music in this scene. Incidentally, when I retrieved the link, the song was at exactly 776 views. Talk about a coincidence.

R9revija oOh, Lord Reese!

Meoilxpy oHello, Enid. Were you here to visit your mother?

R9revija oYeah, she's been feeling much better. My mother says that it's all thanks to you, Lord Reese.

Meoilxpy oThat's not true. It's because of you that your mother and the people of Lebron escaped.

R9revija oUm... Lord Reese... I talked to my grandfather, and...

Meoilxpy oYes, I heard the news! I must admit, I never expected Duke Roswick himself to ask me!

7unchddn o

9qk5ifz8 o Thank you for being less stubborn than usual.

R9revija oYes! I am prepared for it! Although I'm still just a learner, so I'm more like a little knightling at this point... But I'm going to be the best woman knight you've ever seen, Lord Reese!

Meoilxpy oWhat?! Aha ha ha ha...!

Lgjkwhcy o Reese? What the hell are you doing now? Please, don't make this a repeat of that one Sylvis scene... That was uncomfortable enough...

R9revija oWhy are you laughing? Lots of famous knights are women! Like Alvina of Bornia! She's one of only 24 paladins in the whole Kingdom of Veria!

Lgjkwhcy oOh, so we're just going to casually namedrop this person, eh? Well, one thing is clear: There is no chance this Alvina will ever become relevant. None. Nada.

Bn0dc0qc o

Meoilxpy oIt sounded a lot like something my little sister Lynette would say. Very cutesy, much like her.

R9revija oYour little sister...? Do I resemble her?

Meoilxpy oYeah, in a way. She's about your age, too.

Uedfz3v4 o Oh God, no... Kaga...!

9qk5ifz8 o Wait, Reese is underaged too, isn't he? All right, fair enough. I-I guess.

Meoilxpy oYes, I can definitely see it. You're similar, but there's something different I can't quite place...

R9revija oHee hee... You're funny, Lord Reese. All I had to do was say a word, and now you're so deep in thought.

Meoilxpy oI suppose... I think about her quite often, though I still don't know her all that well. We'd only lived under the same roof for about a year before I came here.

R9revija oWhat?! Even though you're siblings?

Jv24tesl oKnuhgpct o

Meoilxpy oEh? What meeting, Ward? We were just going to see Sir Daoud, I don't think there's any rush to--

3cxl4xfi oLord Reese. The meeting. With Lady Tianna. We've no time to be talking about, ahem, your sister.

Meoilxpy o...are you all right, Ward? Is something amiss?

3cxl4xfi o...Sigh... Nothing, milord. Nothing at all--

Bs8nwu8m oI will allow no secrets to be kept from me. Tell the truth, maggot.

3cxl4xfi o...!?

Meoilxpy oOh, thank you, Ward. Enid, please come to the West House as soon as you're prepared. I'll introduce you to everyone.

R9revija oUnderstood, Lord Reese!

Meoilxpy oNo need to be so tense! You'll adjust to things gradually.

R9revija oR-Right... I understand. See you later, Lord Reese...

5cfscacq o

Qzdhcsk1 o

3cxl4xfi oIn any case, taking her with us may prove to be somewhat burdensome... Let us hope she is a quick learner.

9qk5ifz8 o But of course! She's got Paragon, after all.

Meoilxpy oShe is in peculiar circumstances, so I do not blame her for searching out her own path. I think she has the right attitude to become a true knight. If I can, I'd like to help her achieve that, even if it's a bit troublesome.

3cxl4xfi oThis entire situation reminds me of when Lady Lynette asked to become a Knight of Sinon... Back then, you refused her outright without a second thought.

Meoilxpy oI was still just a child. I didn't understand her feelings, or how much it all meant to her...

3cxl4xfi oAnd now, Lord Reese?

Kxja3dba o

Lgjkwhcy o So it's fine to have a child risk her life on the battlefield, becoming a murderer if she survives at all? Kinda crooked logic there...

Meoilxpy oAnd Lynette's family was killed by the Empire during the invasion. I fear that in refusing her, I may have hurt her deeply...

9qk5ifz8 o I don't know, she doesn't seem to hold a grudge. Quite the contrary, actually. She probably thinks of you every night. Thinks veeeeeeery hard of you.

3cxl4xfi o......

Ugftgr02 oJyiomomg o

Sidequest time! We have two quests. Food supply is a rather average bandit map, so...

2i9vnx41 o

Let us first go with the phantom corps.

Xognlrta o

In lieu of an actual character arc (because we all know what happened to Christine), Elbert will at least get this map to speak for a bit.

9tuklim6 o

Speak to Reese's back, to be precise, because he doesn't feel like turning to face the person he's addressing. Rude.

Zlagxehg oIs the Imperial Army responsible?

Meoilxpy oBased on the reports of the survivors, that appears to be the case. But in each instance, by the time any reinforcements had arrived to help, the enemy had already gone. Our scouts and rangers have yet to find any traces of enemy activities in the nearby areas, either. Most likely, this means the force who is conducting these raids does not have a fixed base of operations. Evidently, they are extremely mobile and efficient with guerrilla tactics.

Uyirhmtm o

Meoilxpy oExactly. The effects of these raids are already being felt on the frontlines, as well. Even the aristocrats who usually can't be bothered with us lesser folk have begun to worry about it. Some sort of measures must be taken to eliminate this threat.

Zlagxehg oBut that raises the question: How does one seek out an enemy who has no known location?

Meoilxpy oI've been considering how to go about doing that, as well. Somehow, these raiders have inside knowledge about the layouts of the camps, even the guards' patrols. If we can track down the source they are getting that information from and control it ourselves... then I believe we can turn the tables on the enemy and ensnare them.

Zlagxehg oEnsnare them?

F85qqzbb o

Meoilxpy oOrdinarily, I might not expect such simple tactics like this to work... My hope is that their long string of successes has made them bold and blinded by overconfidence.

Zlagxehg oI see... I think it might work. I doubt a sudden ambush like this would be within their expectations.

Meoilxpy oI pray your instincts are right. Elbert, I want you to organize a team and be ready at a moment's notice.

Zlagxehg oUnderstood, milord! I'll begin preparing at once!

Asrhdqop oYzs1intw o2gyra2lj oDnvxhvxr o

For this mission, we will need strong combatants. Derrick, it's up to you. The others will serve as backup.

Ohw61ojv oT0oe0jgw o

Over at the atelier, I discover that, thanks to Moniz's kind gift, I can craft the liquid magic! Just in time for Enid! I won't use it just yet, though. I've heard that the liquid magic doesn't impact the brackets, but I'd rather not risk it. We'll wait until she has 4 magic to give this to her.

Msmmph1l o

I also leave the materials for the Rossweisse with Orlando, just for the heck of it.

Rk7whqjg oLhg5zd1a o

And now it's prep time! Sylvis gets a bigger bow. I like the apollyon, it's one of the best ordinary bows.

Bhq885vc oYrenjhsw o

Derrick and Marcel get shiny new leather shields.

Fzkqzpbh o

Arthur gets a longsword in case his breaks.

Pzbg7dvf oErz7y6wd o

Adel and Leon nab a couple iron spears.

Xucnyp40 o

Adel also nabs a pack of pilums and the last prototype shield.

Bymb1ggf oZrzw1jlw o43whavjd o

Finally, we pay a visit to the restaurant. Elbert gets a higher crippling rate, which could come in handy.

Dyqipfpo oOb9z6ddd o7smb2kgq o

Arthur gets a whopping 8 hitpoints. To be honest, I just wanted the happiness, but this is a great bonus.

F97f0dsu oGzagevqt oTd9tkngi o

Sadly, Ruby doesn't quite love the dish as much, so she only gets 4 HP. Still, she needs as much help as she can get in that aspect, so I'll take 4.

Fiwjlujt oTcv0kduo o

All right, and with that-- Wait... wait, wait, what?

Tcv0kduo o

...Wha... wait, aren't they the ones destroying our bases? And... pffffft, reserve corpse?! Ahahahahahahah... apparently they have a corpse that we need to catch off-guard! Gee, what kind of corpse is it that we don't stand a chance if we fight it directly? Is it Ernst? Do they have Ernst's body? Hwahahah... Ah, I'm really sorry Aethin, I really am, but this was too funny, it would've been too cruel not to show it. Really, I'm sorry, I really am. Please forgive me...!

Anyway! Next time, we encounter the phantom corpse and discover what's so phantomical about it. It better not involve a bunch of hidden units and reinforcements... However, that will not be today, it will be next time. So until next time arrives, listen to my advice: it's best to farewell than to farebad! You don't want to become a phantom corpse too early, do ya? Of course not! Hahah, byeeeeeee~!
