Oh ok she's berserked... ah.... So uh, because I'm lazy. Who was the guy that helped Larentia at the end of the last update I replied to? Was it Bernard?

Spoiler

That was General Zephryus. You might have seen him in the map where Marcel died. He's the guy that Berned the Stool a ways back. He's also Larentia's former commander, and the one who sent her to join the League. (Which ironically thanks to that berserk could have led to the most devastating betrayal in the game). He tried to commit suicide by Reese out of guilt over Bernstol, but Larentia prevented it.

Part 83 - Vester you idiot.

No, actually. He can sneak in through the forests in the north. Afterwards he just needs to move last to move onto the water, and then first on the next turn to move into the forest on the island.

Ah, fair enough.

For every point over 50, you get 1 point of crit. That's why Chaos has that 10 base crit of his.

One of those very Kaga mechanics that nobody's ever going to see on their own units.

Not to mention Alvina also failed to block. Even with Shieldfaire, that rate isn't as high as one might think because of her middling bases. Like, she would only have a 76% block chance with your average 40% hit shield.

"O-Only" a 76%!? What the... oh, my goodness... What a shitty way to die...

Well, we are probably going to lose some scenes to this. No background for Tianna, I'd wager.

Actually, no, that scene remains. It has just been adjusted. You'll see.

I can see how Arcturus was able to cut them down by the dozen. They die easily.

Goddamnit...

Horray!

Why must you celebrate?

Meoilxpy oDon't you mean Larentia?

8avaxokx o Why would I want to kill Larentia?

Meoilxpy o ...no reason. Let's go.

Yes, I agree with Reese, for once. We should kill Larentia.

Pretty sure Alvina felt similar. And that didn't help her.

Can't really beat death with stubborness alone. Having a Faramir helps, usually.

There goes the Bagman. Hope you already got the bags in the bag.

They're there.

Maybe she just wants to surpass Arcturus' Paladin kill count. Too bad she probably doesn't know that there aren't even enough Paladins left in the League.

Did you know that there's a brand of instant hot chocolate in Spain called "Paladin"? Yeah, you take the chocolate powder, you put it in hot milk, you stir it, and there you go. A nice drink for a cold night.

What I'm trying to say is, I'm going to grind Larentia into fine powder.

Well, since she uses throwing weapons, at least she won't die to a Counter.

Hurray for her.

Also seems like berserked units won't use their Command skills. Or maybe the AI simply doesn't register the Angon as a weapon that Throw would apply to.

She's dumb on top of deadly. I hate her so much.

Already? What happened to all those turns?

I was terrified of the ballistae, that's what.

Without the Shining Shield?

Do we really have the time to get Adel to run all around the place? Two sedatives were enough.

Not the Log Splitter? I mean, you can actually buy those in unlimited quantities.

It's... Uh...

...There's four maps left in the game. I don't think I'll use either the iron axe or the log splitter in what's left of the game!

Btw, you can also put all of a unit's weapons into bags so they can't attack anyone if they get berserked. Since the AI can't access the content of bags.

That would've been great to know, y'know, before.

I guess there isn't a real pattern for who the AI targets with Berserk. That's some 3rd rate decision making.

Very bad.

Getting 69nd by Astra. That's a 1st rate death, alright.

It's as good as he could've gotten.

I never even noticed the game actually shows multiple projectiles in cases like this.

Definitely does! Berwick Saga is cool like that.

Now Tianna is never going to get Vester out of her hair. And we are going to miss out on a Rosalie scene.

Well, there's still a Rosalie scene. Just... not the same, unfortunately.

He can use Lances.

Oh. How nice of him.

Also, Almachus doesn't actually have Counter. So everyone on a horse can Canto away as long as they land their attack.

Still, you probably want Vester to stand by so he can seize sooner than later.

  Not much could.

True.

I would say that unless there's more from Raze in Owen's arc if it weren't for Arthur's step mom there wouldn't be all that much for a sympathetic reading of Raze

I never said there was much, there's just more than Begnion because Begnion got diddly squat.

It's a horrible idea I know, hence why I mentioned it.

Good to know you know.

Thing is, they don't tell him that vengeance isn't worth it at all, for all that they try to prevent him from letting it be all consuming. There's a scene where Titania says she wants a crack at BK as well and she certainly doesn't tell him he can't do it. In chapter 27 Titania says to Soren that for Ike this is part of his cloure in the death of Greil even as the game tells you that Ike can size up his chances and retreat in that sentence and in the base conversation, making it apparent that slaying BK absolutely does matter to Ike still. During their actual confrontation Ike takes it as his task alone to bear and even if he's going to save Ena as well that doesn't remove vengeance as a strong motive for Ike. Even if you have Ike retreat he still wants to get back at BK, even if it reads funny and is such an anticlimax in PoR.

I suppose that is true. BK is pretty good in PoR, that much is true. He's just... kinda disconnected from everything else, in a way? If I recall correctly, his battle is more or less like "oh look there's the guy who's done basically nothing other than kill my dad in the entire game. I'm gonna kill him."

I don't disagree on the fanservice angle with RD though, that's absolutely the case and while I think he could be still fine in theory, I feel like much would have to be done to ensure the Ike/Zelgius duel doesn't take away attention from much of the surrounding events and allow characters cast aside like Levail to do something. Also alter the characterisation of Ike and Zelgius's weird fangasming that occurs during the duel because why? His part with Sephiran should be built on because it's actually a solid foundation for Zelgius, Ranulf's reveal is so dumb too so drop that, Ike's character is limited too and I suspect letting Ike develop his suspicons on his own allows for a more serious take on their dynamic in the duel.

And bloody decide if BK likes spilling blood or not the contrast between PoR and RD is silly.

To be honest, I'd just like an Ike-less RD. Or one where his role is vastly smaller, at least. There's just no reason for him to take over as he does, and him being the only one able to kill Ashera... Well, I expected there to be at least a feeble excuse, but turns out there really isn't. He just hogs the spotlight because he can. Hmph...

I've heard enough about this certain map from reading around people posting on Berwick and accidentally spoiling myself somewhat.

It's probably the one map I have enough ideas from the forum to take a good guess on.

Frankly, I can see that happening. This map is one of Berwick's best maps. I know, that's rich coming from me, but still.

F

F indeed.

But fourth rate?

Fnstd6ym oIt's just cheesy enough for me to appreciate again!

Hahahahahah... Of course. I should've guessed a man of culture like Almachus would appreciate a fine "so bad it's good" drama.

Are you counting the shield or not, because I doubt he could use the shield on the magic, it's why you did everything to set up so Adel would definitely kill the Vandal.

He very much can use the shield on magic, it grants 18 res against all magic types except dark (not that it matters for Vandal). Vandal himself has no magic res, though, which is why it's so impressive that Enid only deals 1 more point than Adel when she has to get through like 16 less defense.

She's lucky she can't be attacked at melee range.

After what happened last time? She truly is.

I thought I'd removed that. It had attached itself as an attachment and looking at my post, I did. It should not exist.

This is spooky shit.

Insert spooky Lot and Wade image here.

That's a lot of damage too, good thing it's gone.

Very good.

Getting the money might end up impossible if you're telling the truth.

He has bigger things to worry about than his money. Like, for example, the axe that's flying towards his face.

Mass Facepalm - GIF on Imgur

What are y'all facepalming for? I have done nothing wrong! Derrick is the best unit in videogames!

Sure, nothing going wrong her-

OF COURSE SHE GETS CRIT FUCKING HELL

Yes.

Wait, I bet it'll be worse from him.

Yes.

And three, two one......

Fuck me this is a top tier rant, Should we do a ranking of them because I'm not sure what can match this in beauty.

The time I quit and went to play Super Mario 64 DS is top tier, definitely.

...To be fair, it's difficult to match this death in beauty, too. Like, I've had my fair share of bullshit deaths, but this is something else. Critical berserk. It's like, all the shit that everyone hates in these games, combined.

Of course the death itself is awful stupid luck wise (6.57%),

Worse, actually. You didn't take into account that Alvina had a chance to use her shield. This wouldn't have mattered because with 4 less damage she would've gotten exactly one-shot... Except the crit damage could've been lower than that. It fluctuates between 10 and 20, remember? I won't ask you to run the math on that, but it wouldn't surprise me if the actual chance was, like, half what you said or less.

but the real sting is because of the fact that it's due to a misclick and particularly because of the consequences.

Well... I'd love to claim it was a misclick, but... No. I put Larentia in berserk range consciously, because I completely forgot about Almachus's berserk, somehow. So yeah. A product of my imbecility, all in all.

Yeah this one sucks, no question.

Fucking hell...

On the other hand, I guess Larentia's programming by Raze needed an extra push to activate.

Grrrr...

Veria spitting truth here.

To my great chagrin.

8avaxokx oNo! I WILL STAND AND FIGH- *hack

Faceplant

Vester's really not thinking clearly here huh.

And he doesn't even know about Alvina yet...

0piqsgjs oI am.... no trator.... uhhhh.....

I like how you keep making traitor puns, even though trader is right there with his regular name. I agree that the traitor puns are spicier, though.

I guess we're getting Vesteria Saga after all.

The Saga of actually getting him to the fucking door.

Hahahahahahahaha... Is this the culmination of all the "Berwick's done, let's go to Vestaria" moments?

AND VESTER'S IN RANGE

Thic ould get unwinnable.

Nah, not really. Vester sucks, but Larentia sucks more.

And of fucking course status effects are RNG in this game.

Not gonna lie, I prefer a chance for it to run out on turn 1 than having to take a fixed 5 turns of fun.

Imagine if she had done more damage.

No way, Reese is too good.

She knows what's reset worthy.

Piece of...!

Sasha was only crazy in LP.

This is just crazy and she needs to go down!

I mean, Sasha's stats were absolutely crazy too.

Good sprite on a trash unit.

Vester's not the first.

To be fair, Vester can potentially be not trash, just as long as Larentia doesn't murder Alvina too early.

Because she's actually just gone mad.

Damn her... Damn her, seriously!

And yet she's choosing to attack Sherlock at range.

Why?

The crit. The only weapon she can crit with is one that she has to throw. So she did. She'd rather have a chance to murder Sherlock than spare herself the pain. Holy shit, she's bloodthirsty...

See, we're all calm, it's good, it's fine.

nothing of value was lost.

This is what I would've said if Larentia got murdered by Sherlock.

No more wyverns.

Kaga wussed out.

Seriously, we got one Thor? IS looked at that and laughed while designing the dragons for 3H maddening didn't they?

IS were laughing while making 3H maddening, all right. Then they got so drunk that they completely forgot to playtest.

And to think you had a good idea going.

Sheesh...

I wanted that portrait for earlier.

Which one?

Ah well, no need now.

No matter, then.

And that's all there is to say huh, green units good.

We haven't gotten to the good green units yet.

Reese just snapped after realising everything's lost.

Reese snaps quite often, doesn't he.

Woo that looks terrifying.

Berwick for you.

Is it time for Lilina-

Not this time.

No need to pop up Lilina here, he lived.

To think that this was one step away from disaster.

And to Sherlock winning the Knights of Sinon deadpool.

Turns out it's not Leon's ghost that's keeping Adel from death. Adel is just really, really determined to win that bet.

Ingenious.

Also Vantage causes afterimages too I see.

Adel's been Vantaging things all game and you're only just now realizing that?

5utjtvhw oYou know what? Because you're being such a bitch after earlier where I literally had no control over myself I will not help.

Lgjkwhcy oYou stupid, usele-

5utjtvhw oOr it could be because I happened to miss a horse, it's not like it was tied down jeez.

We're all conveniently ignoring the fact that her getting berserked was entirely my fault but shhhh

At least that worked out.

Not gonna lie, losing Adel in his first map as a lancer would've killed my will to continue. I mean, I still love Berwick and there's only four maps left anyway, but... Goodness, it would've made me so angry.

Wuld you look at that, a good level.

Thanks, Adel!

Good job Sherlock.

Really showed that solid door what for with your arrows.

Maybe he aimed for the... lock? The lock on the solid stone gate...?

DayniSerpent King? You like such a tryhard.

Fnstd6ym oSuch third rate insults are not even worth acknowledging.

DayniLike you won't acknowledge your repeated inability to kill Vester even though you totally could, yes Bagus Dickus I will do as you command?

Fnstd6ym oGrah! You are some weak fool, you can't stop my plan-

And then he got Astra'd. The end.

That is not how Face/Off works.

Why don't you try telling Faye that?

I guess an Almachus divided cannot stand.

Pffft... I love this one.

Things that just became harder to hit: This.

She got harder to down with successful hits, too! Er, slightly. I still wouldn't count on her to facetank, just dodgetank.

Unlike the archer who's clearly terrible. Fayetality of course is sure to follow.

And it did.

That is clever, good job Kaga.

Fsss...!

Course another unit could have actually helped with the myriad issues that plagued this map and made it so you were further away to the nend sooner thus avoiding these guys but hush.

I'm more surprised they went for him.

...Derrick is useful. I will die on this hill if I must. I have great plans for him. And then you will all regret underestimating him!

Axellence, that's what is done here.

The last part, at the very least, is quite axellent. The rest was just... Ugh.

And reminding me of a certain man who was supposed to stay by another person's side.

I don't get it.

Wonder what this man stands for.

Beards?

It could be too late, don't get your hopes up yet.

Well, we'll see, won't we?

With Alvina dead, you get the next charm.

Fuck, you're right...

L3zitz31 o

I'd call the bad Vester Weakster.

Inadequatester.

RIP Vester's relevance.

Goodbye!

Ok this part actually was quick.

I was surprised that's for sure.

Let's see if I can keep up the pace. Would be nice to be done in 2020, for sure.

Bloody typical of me to leave a thing or two out.

...Not anymore than the OP.

RD Begnion is comically evil up top, but we get next to no indication if any people thought differently, something that PoR can actually claim to have limited though it may be for Begnion's people. We get a more sympathetic reading of ordinary people in Daein in PoR for pete's sake.

Daein >>>>> Begnion.

That being said I don't think that the end result of Lazberia Vs. Tellius is as similar as all that.

For one thing Lazberia's conflict and how it flows makes sense. I feel like the Laguz Alliance war itself is confusing as all hell in Part 3 and how total the knockback from Begnion is with little to no justification imo. That's before talking about the Blood Pact and the Senate.

Also I keep on seeing an inverse of Begnion in Berwick.

You're praising Berwick? Comparing it favorably to Tellius? I must be dreaming...

All jokes aside, yeah. I agree.

ALL MY HOMIES HATE SHOAL TILES

Well, could be worse. Could be a desert snow tile.

It's time for...

DAWN CHARM AXEL!

Yes indeed it is!

...Okay, I will definitely consider Perceval, though. Accurate Perceval is something I have to see for myself.

Just in time for his recruitment, too 😛

Ah yes. That. Here's hoping he actually makes it to it. Alvina has proven that even if your events are halfway through the map, that's no guarantee that you'll live that far.

Best FE/KagaSaga map inbound.

Best panic, you mean. I am terrified.

Watch out for the armors and assassins.

You don't need to tell me that. I know. But I probably will lose someone to them, still.

Short weekday response. Not much new here. Just dreading chapter 12 for my ironman - somebody will probably die, but I'm gonna do Vanishstone Larentia so I won't have to worry about the ballistae.

...Goddamn-- That's genius! Why didn't I think of that...?

12-1 is just gonna be a Reese party in the north while Perceval destroys some armored fools. I don't think he'll be permanently recruitable, though, since Izerna is dead. Oh well.

Enjoy him while it lasts. Then give the dawn charm to Axel.

How rude can you be? For this transgression, I demand that you give every remaining statbooster in the game to Matthis.

I'm just trying to imagine a good Bantu, and every time I do, it's just a Bantu that can use Divinestones. Or maybe the one from FE1 that has the promotion glitch I've read of. Or perhaps the FE3 version who apparently could one shot Ice Dragons (though they'd one shot him back). My point is, he seems to have gotten worse every time he's appeared.

He was pretty good in 3. Then again, 3 was really easy, too.

Pretty sure that nifty shield's new too. But yeah, I'd see why you'd consider the change to the axe animation a downgrade. I never used the sword with generals in sacred stones because it wasn't fun to watch (I mean, not like you need the extra help in that game. Hard mode is still pretty easy).

Not MY hard mode, though. In my hard mode, Ross is getting DOUBLED BY BOATS. BOATS.

Here goes. For the setting, imagine Valery running a school for slavers and kidnappers... with Lane, Gomez and Barselphon as his students. After all, he needs someone to do his work for him to get plausible deniability. I call it "We are human scum" (To the tune of "We are Number One")

Oh, boy. We are Number One, too? This is gonna be good.

This is so wrong in so many levels. I love it. It was well worth the wait. In a weird way, it's like a sort of love letter to all the fucked up crap that Kaga's put in his games. Hahahahahah... Aahh, fuckin' Kaga, I swear.

Worst part is I'm literally referencing a thing the government here did once. I've still not stopped making fun of that.

...Wha... I-Is Herman a part of your government?

I just wanted to make that joke. Not even sure you were referring to me to be honest.

Nah, not you.

Turns out Volcens is a diluted Mordias. Very diluted. Like, 2 parts per million. Which is still Mor(dias) than should be handled.

Bwahahahahaha... After Zephyrus whooped him, Mordias fell into a river and dissolved. Volcens was what came out.

Well, technically it was a vampiric creature screaming Vega for no apparent reason at a pair of kids... one of which was named Rutger. Then again, the fact it turned out that Vega meant "blood" in it's language.... well.... yeah. That's a little too fitting.

Right, right. As you said, still fits.

As for Dork, while I don't have the photos yet... I did find his entry in an online database. Just to prove I'm not making this up.

I love how the title above the image just calls him "Dork".

(Laughs in Caeda, Barst and Wolf)

There's always one of these.

I mean, not like a black bag lets through much sunlight.

True enough. That's why Almachus is the only one with any color in his face. He took off the hood to disguise himself as a Verian priest.

I don't know. I'm pretty sure that's too much of a slash, and not enough of a pierce. Then again, for all I know the damage isn't actually the lance wound.

I did what I could given my limited artistic skills.

I thought it was less open to interpretation than "She's about to screw you isn't she?"

Larentia's a pretty good waifu, admittedly. But I don't think I'd be open for screwage from her after she fucking murdered Alvina with a crit. In fact, I think I'd rather screw her. With a screwdriver, right through the eye.

I feel like this'll be bad for the long-term production of bags either way. Thought they were worth a lot now? They're gonna be worthy of Erzie's collection after this.

Let's be honest, now - Erzheimer probably has a collection of rare bags lying around somewhere.

Or not. Unless he dies after this. Which wouldn't surprise me.

Yup.

Maybe I should consider reclassing...

Caeda is looking a lot more like Murderprincess than Murdertraitor, though. Too much potential to waste.

Tell that to future bag producers.

We'll save the industry somehow.

Well at least he won't join you permanently in this condition.

No, he will instead not join me. Thanks a lot, Vester. Love ya.

It is pretty ironic this is your second insane flier... except last time it was funny and this time it's deadly serious. History may not repeat, but it often rhymes.

I did have Athena in my first playthrough, though what was insane there was my thirst for her. Jesus, that was an insufferable running gag. How did I have any readers back then?

...Wait, come to think about it, didn't I murder myself for the thirst...?

Guess Sherlock still is somehow blessed. He doesn't even have Leon looking out for him like Adel. What gives?

29fttzr9 oI mean, who else am I going to root for? My father? He doesn't ever come visit me...

Zlagxehg oChristine, losing you hurt your father more than anything in the whole world. He will regret it his entire life--

29fttzr9 oHe shed more tears at YOUR funeral!

Zlagxehg o...W-Well... The tactician was really upset, wasn't he--

29fttzr9 oOh, are you serious, Elbert? You're seriously asking me to root for HIM, of all people?

Zlagxehg o...No. No I'm not.

29fttzr9 o......

Zlagxehg o......

29fttzr9 oI hate being dead.

Zlagxehg oPreach.

I mean, unless Larentia gets beserked again.

The wyvern is not to blame, though. It's just like Sasha's wyvern - an innocent victim, sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He died so the run may live. Or something.

He'll be remembered as the guy who shared his portrait with the auctioneer from the snow chapter.

...Yuck...

Adel lives a blessed life. Even a Lilina moment only made him stronger instead of killing him.

Adel is going to conquer the world, if he manages to survive my leadership.

His death quote kind of reminds me of Marcel... but minus the air of dumb-assery. I mean, this guy was a legit threat.

How dare you misspell Martel's name as "Marcel". Marcel was a great man when he wasn't being a misogynistic dick. Martel is literally the worst.

Funny enough, this is more or less a tactic I've employed where I've used a slow but tanky unit to distract reinforcements from attacking the main force from behind. You get different mileage depending on the map and the game. But I mean, you know that... you saw my use of it in Chapter 10 of my H5 run.

It can be an effective tactic, indeed.

Together, of course.

Waaaaaaa wa wa wawaaaaaaa wa wa wawaaaaaaaa

This made me smile. Thanks for that.

You're welcome.

21cxydge o

Turns out Reed's gonna be just fine! That's great, we don't need more dads to die.

Bnes4lei oIn a month's time, he should be returned to his previous self.

8avaxokx oI leave him in your hands... Thank you, Archbishop.

Bnes4lei oYou are very welcome. We shall take good care of him.

Gapvs7hd o

8avaxokx oNot only did you save me, but also my father, and all of Bornia with us... From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

Meoilxpy oI can only imagine that these events must've been the Goddess's will... I didn't really do anything...

Oaash4gb oOh my God-- Would it fucking kill you to pull that stick out of your ass for just five seconds?

9qk5ifz8 o ...Yeah, what the Goddess just said. Gee, you should be the LP's host instead of me...

Oaash4gb oDon't tempt me. It'd be as easy as a snap of my fingers.

Uedfz3v4 o G-Gah!

8avaxokx oWhat can I do to thank you? Please, if there's anything at all...

Meoilxpy o...I want to save the people of Veria from the Empire's tyranny. Bornia has 10,000 experienced soldiers who can help us, and its location is ideal for a place of retreat. Please, lend your strength to the Berwick League.

Ssumnhpw o

8avaxokx oAs soon as matters are settled at home, I will lead the army north. Though this civil war has drained us, Bornia remains strong. We will put an end to those dark days by fighting together alongside our closest brothers-in-arms!

Meoilxpy oThank you, Lord Vester.

8q5y2bbd o

Meoilxpy oOh yes, of course... Until later, Lord Vester.

Y1d6mjfe o

Ekwjaao9 o

Oh! Look alive, folks. This scene is important for Tianna's character.

Vxqntpa3 oIf you like, I can take your place here at the West House again...

Ps4nmuuw oHmm... Maybe...

Vxqntpa3 o...May I ask why you don't like Lord Vester, milady? He seems like an exemplary gentleman to me...

Ps4nmuuw oExemplary, huh...?

Eunjf25s o

Uk1r95wm o

She paces back and forth a bit here.

Ps4nmuuw o...Is he, though?

Vxqntpa3 oYou're wearing his ring, and you're staying faithful to him, aren't you?

Lgjkwhcy o The heck's that supposed to mean? They aren't even in an actual relationship! She ain't supposed to stay "faithful"!

Ps4nmuuw o...I think you ought to mind your own business, Rosalie.

Vxqntpa3 oI'm sorry... But I don't think it's healthy to keep thinking about people who've died, wondering "what if"... You won't be young forever, milady. I think you ought to focus on the happy things and enjoy life.

Ps4nmuuw oYou're awfully pushy today... I know you mean well, Rosalie, but you're starting to get on my nerves...

Vxqntpa3 o...What kind of person was your late fiance, Lady Tianna?

Ps4nmuuw o...If you must know... We were friends since childhood. He had a kind heart, and he was always straightforward and honest...

Ps4nmuuw o...And then he died. A little over three years ago.

Jyou7emg o

Lgjkwhcy o Hoo, boy... You may've forgotten, but way, way back in chapter 1, they told us who Lord Carron was... He was the owner of the West House. Turns out this place belongs to Tianna after all. And that's not all:

Vxqntpa3 o...Why did you become a secretary? You're Duke Roswick's niece, after all...

Ps4nmuuw oMy father assisted the Duke as Narvia's chief administrator. So, it just made sense that I'd be Lord Vanmilion's assistant... Even though all I've done is mope around in my dead father's house...

Ps4nmuuw oIt was around that time that I first met Lord Vester. Since he was good friends with Lord Vanmilion, he often spent time here in Navaron. He quickly found an interest in me, despite how I tried to ignore him. I was flattered that he felt that way about me, but I had just lost the one I loved.

Lgjkwhcy oNot to mention your father, too...! Jeez, that must've been horrible...

Ps4nmuuw oI couldn't return his feelings...

Vxqntpa3 oWas Lord Vester not aware that your fiance had passed away?

Rjicn8gl o

Uedfz3v4 o ...Oh wow. Entirely ordinary dipship, Vester... Maybe we should've just let Almachus show him why he was called Serpent King, after all.

Ps4nmuuw oI couldn't believe what I was hearing. He was completely serious. "What a self-centered jerk!" I thought to myself.

Vxqntpa3 oSo that's what he's really like, huh? If he grew a beard, he'd be just like General Ward...

Lgjkwhcy o W-When has Ward said anything even remotely similar to that, though!? I know Ward's a grumpy asshole sometimes, but I'd like to think he's not THIS bad!

Ps4nmuuw oHa ha! Oh, Rosalie... But truly, Lord Vester isn't a bad person. He's just tactless.

Vxqntpa3 oAnd he seems to think that you love him as much as he does you. Not great with women, I guess.

Ps4nmuuw oAnd since he was with Lord Vanmilion so often, I kept having to come up with excuses to get away from him. Eventually, I was planning on telling Lord Vanmilion that I wanted to quit being his assistant...

Ovage0yg o

Ps4nmuuw oI was so happy to meet Lord Reese and get my mind off things.

9qk5ifz8 o Oh yes, nothing better to get your mind off of an insensitive asshole than to work for a sociopath. He's incapable of love, so it's not like there was any risk of him pulling a similar stunt!

Ps4nmuuw oAnd with all the troubles in Bornia, I didn't see Lord Vester for more than half a year after that. But then, what should happen but for Lord Reese to rescue him from Bornia and bring him here...

Vxqntpa3 oThey seem to have become good friends, as well. It seems you'll have to meet him sometime or another...

Ps4nmuuw oAnd where am I supposed to go if I can't even hide in my own house? It's infuriating...

Vxqntpa3 oHmm... That is a problem. What will you do?

Jmnpe2mo o

At this point, the scene changes depending on whether Alvina is alive or not. If Alvina is alive, we get a hilarious scene where Rosalie manipulates Vester into confessing that he really loves Alvina. Girl goes and tells him he likes his women like his food: he leaves the best for last. I just had to bring that up, because I love it. Girl has no chill, it's amazing.

Alas, Larentia happened, so instead, we get this other scene. I... I'm really angry, not gonna lie.

Ps4nmuuw oReally? What is it?

Vxqntpa3 oIf you got married to someone you really did like, that would work. I don't think even Lord Vester would try to court a married woman.

Lgjkwhcy o Pffft... Okay, the scene is far worse, but Rosalie still has no chill. Jesus, girl... That's exactly it, she doesn't want to marry anyone!

Jq5mxusq o

Ga46hdcq o

Rh5s9ql3 o

Vxqntpa3 oCome on, Lady Tianna! Don't be like that!

Hyqu5mcf o

That was... awkward. Look, everyone, it's Lebough's cozy little office!

Bnes4lei oForgive me for asking yet another favor of you, Lord Reese.

Meoilxpy oI'm happy to help, Your Excellency.

Bnes4lei oFirst things first... Tomorrow, September 15, will be Apostle Sanacia's fifteenth birthday. In accordance with ancient tradition, a festival is to be held at the Temple of the Apostle with many Sisters.

Meoilxpy oIs this some sort of coming-of-age ceremony?

Bnes4lei oPrecisely. An Apostle's power is said to awaken at the moment she turns the age of fifteen. After tomorrow, she will become a fully-fledged Apostle.

9qk5ifz8 o I know a certain person who's going to be delighted to attend her birthday party.

Adb8e0yk o

Lgjkwhcy o ...Or not. He's not allowed in, apparently. That's kind of an arbitrary rule, but whatever.

Bnes4lei oThus, Madam Quescria led all of the sisters of Narvia to the Temple of the Apostle two days ago. But then...

Meoilxpy oDid something happen?!

J3lbrgl7 o

Wiegrwss o

Uedfz3v4 o Gasp! The enemy knew what we were planning! Le shock! It's as if that's been the case the entire fuckin' game!

Meoilxpy oDame Paramythis?!

Xvrsbfd6 oEven though I was there as Her Eminence's bodyguard, I failed...

Bnes4lei oNo, you did well even to escape the attack and return here. They were ambushed by an elite group of dark bishops called the Razenclaw. They are led by one of the four Cardinals of the Church of Raze: a man called Rasputin.

Lgjkwhcy o We've met him before, if you recall. In the same scene where we met Faisal, in fact. Though, admittedly, Faisal made more of an impression.

Bnes4lei oEven with all my magical ability, I would not dare challenge him alone.

9qk5ifz8 o Oh, believe me, Lebough, magic's not the way to take down that guy. I do have... other ideas, though. Hm hm hm...

Bnes4lei oMore importantly, Quescria made the right decision in sending Paramythis here to inform us of this attack.

Meoilxpy oWhat do you suppose the Church of Raze is planning to do?

Bnes4lei oFor the Church of Raze, the Apostle is to be feared above all others. They call her the "Witch of Veria." Naturally, they are terrified of the idea of Apostle Sanacia's awakening. Thus, they will likely attempt a sealing ritual before executing her.

Meoilxpy oSealing?

Bnes4lei oA method of stripping the Apostle of her power, written in Razite Scripture.

Khbaxv4a o

Lgjkwhcy oThat's a rather neat rhyme. You know, if you ignore the context of slaughtering people.

Bnes4lei oThus, they need a sacrifice. The ritual also must be held in a specific location in order to work.

Meoilxpy oWhere is it?

Bnes4lei oIn the forests of Danae, west of the Temple of the Apostle. There, you will find the ruins of an ancient Lazbrerian temple complex.

Meoilxpy oI understand. I will take my knights there to rescue the Apostle and the four other captured Sisters.

Lgjkwhcy o"Four"...? I mean, yeah, there's Luciana, Maria, Yumil and Izerna. Those are the main ones we know, but... There's more sisters than that! Remember Sarah? Doesn't seem like the game does! And what about Quescria? I guess her title's "High Priestess", but doesn't she deserve to get rescued too?

Bnes4lei oThank you, Lord Reese. The Apostle must be rescued at all costs. She may be our last hope for the future of Veria's people...

Tyhf8oii o

9qk5ifz8 o Ooohhh! New recruit? You betcha! And what a recruit, too. We'll see her when the map begins.

Xvrsbfd6 oYes, Your Excellency. I shall guide you to the best of my ability, Lord Reese.

1w1okokb o

Upon exiting the building, Reese encounters a man who misses.

Dhgwqymr o

Meoilxpy oWhat's the matter, Perceval?

Aofpvug6 oHas Sister Izerna not returned from the Temple of the Apostle yet?

Meoilxpy oIzerna? ...Why do you ask?

Aofpvug6 oI had another vision...

9qk5ifz8 o If you recall, it was established ages ago that he came to Navaron following a "vision" of his sister. Looks like he's at it again.

Aofpvug6 oI saw a woman, terrified and begging for someone to save her... I thought it was my sister,

Lgjkwhcy oYou don't even know what your sister looks like!

Aofpvug6 obut when I got a closer look, it was Izerna...

Meoilxpy oYou saw her in your vision...?

Aofpvug6 oI fear she may be in mortal peril. Please, tell me she's all right...

Meoilxpy o...Come with me, Perceval. I'm going to need your help.

Dvwozbhs o

This is how you know that you've fulfilled the requirements to permanently recruit Perceval. About time! We've only a handful of mercenaries left at this point. And much like Perceval...

Qxemzaxy o

7ty8o8qa o

Lff1e8gi o

Kexfg14m oI heard from Archbishop Lebough. I want to help you on your mission to rescue the Apostle.

Meoilxpy oI am glad for the assistance, but this is rather sudden...

Lgjkwhcy oReese, he's been deployed in every single map since he first appeared, except for like one. How is this "sudden"?

Meoilxpy oMight I ask your reasons?

Kexfg14m oI cannot simply stand by while our priestesses have been captured! I must do something.

Lgjkwhcy oHeh... Yeah, that, and the fact that if the Apostle dies, your only alternative is suicide...

3cxl4xfi oLord Reese, the assistance of this priest is just what we need, is it not? Let us bring him along with us.

Meoilxpy oI agree. Thank you for your assistance, Father Owen. We could always use the help of more Verian clergy against the enemy.

J2mlowwu o

Yes... Verian.

Pbnqkdtq o

Owen and Perceval are force-deployed. Izerna is nowhere to be found.

Dz1nnt4m o

Neither are the abbey sisters, or Saphira. But Saphira's just an entirely ordinary girl. She's probably just out for a walk.

Zi3kqxgr o

Anyway, we've no need for any of them at the moment. We must pay our respects.

Nsajgjrg o

Larentia. Pay your respects.

5utjtvhw oUh... Eff?

Lgjkwhcy o ......

5utjtvhw oWhy did you want me to say that, exactly?

Lgjkwhcy oAll I know is that I am not satisfied.

5utjtvhw o...Sir, it.. It wasn't my fault...

Uedfz3v4 oYes it was! YES IT FUCKING WAS!

5utjtvhw o......

N7htc0ji o

Fwvfommk o

Items are given.

Ege3s1gu o

And... Sigh... Second reward.

Pjgkfvno o

I like how, due to our messy inventory, the charm instantly flew to Perceval's inventory. It knows...

Xpmqnfti o

The biggest thing about the sisters getting kidnapped (obviously other than losing two playable units) is that Yumil is no longer available to sell us orbs. And Teresa doesn't come to replace this one. Lendel doesn't take over her duties either. I guess she took her entire supply of orbs with her to the forest... Good thing we've no need for any more orbs at the moment.

Xoo0oxvg o

Well, that's enough of the world-spanning issues. First things first, it's time to give Erzheimer his new axe.

5dumdjkr o

Otuvuc9j o

Insa6ev1 o

Another one down. Let's see...

V2onow6z o

Fkklmtvk o

Lookin' good! It's taken us the entire game, but we're almost there. Once we have the blood knife, I'll probably give him the divine brace as well, so we may wrap up the quest for good. I should have the means to replace it after this next mission.

Ejbu45gb o

It's time to save a marriage.

Sm03u10m o

Ps4nmuuw oIs this what you have been looking for, Lord Hassan?

Lrbfbmww oY-Yes! But how did you...?

Ps4nmuuw oAs it happens, Lord Reese's soldiers went to the Menas area recently.

Lrbfbmww oThank you so much! With this, my wife will surely forgive me!

Ps4nmuuw oPlease take care that you don't make your wife so furious again...

Lrbfbmww oOf course. I shan't put a toe out of line ever again!

Lgjkwhcy o Oh yeah? We'll see how long that lasts.

Lrbfbmww oAh, before you go, I feel I should give you something... Here you go.

Ps4nmuuw oAre you sure you want to give this to me, Lord Hassan?

Lrbfbmww oGiving that up is a small price to pay for deliverance from my wife's wrath. Consider it payment for the pearl.

Ps4nmuuw oVery well. I will add it to the Sinon Knights's military funds.

9qk5ifz8 o There's a typo here, where Tianna says she'll add the money to the "Sinon Knight's" funds. I'm only bringing it up because it's eerily close to being the truth. I mean, we only have to lose one of Sherlock and Adel and there'll truly be only one Sinon Knight...

Ps4nmuuw oGood day to you, Lord Hassan.

Vuikn4p7 o

Woo! Cash! Not quite Dad Funds, but hey. I like Hassan. He's the most normal noble in the game. Everyone else is either wonderful or horrendous.

Kv3xmv09 o

Tqxri08d o

Oh boy. Erzheimer is going to ruin his marriage again. I should've waited before giving him that axe...

Lrbfbmww oClara? What is it?

Z1vpznqw oI've come to deliver this letter to you.

Lrbfbmww oFrom Erzheimer? Well, let's see what it says...

Lrbfbmww oI-It can't be! He managed to get his hands on one of those?! Quickly, Clara, where is Erzheimer now?!

Z1vpznqw oAt his house, milord!

Lrbfbmww oThen we must go at once! Come, Clara!

Uilnuswq o

Yeaaaaaaaah... That fool's learned absolutely nothing.

Cbgstlwl o

Hah! That's a good joke.

89zcnc4v o

I like how nobody cares Trador kicked the bucket. Sidequest still counts as complete.

Ncj4xgpk o

R7q0qfbb o

Ilrbpdns oHello, Lady Tianna. Yeah, Tavan's here. You need him?

Ps4nmuuw oYes, please call him for me, if it's not too much trouble.

Ilrbpdns oSure, give me a second. Hey, Tavan! Lady Tianna wants to talk to you!

Qxlwucaz o

Ndoxmmwp o

Ps4nmuuw oRegarding your fabric shortage which we discussed the other day... Will these suffice for the time being?

Aiedupgv oThese are... Brand-new linens! You got these from Bornia?!

Ps4nmuuw oI asked the Sinon Knights to stop by Mr. Trador's shop in Southleigh on their recent mission in Bornia.

Lgjkwhcy o Yes, Lord Reese himself took care of it. And then Trador got skewered.

Aiedupgv oWith this much, we should be set for a good while! Thank you!

Ps4nmuuw oYou are very welcome. Now, about that new bag that I wanted to have made...

Aiedupgv oOf course! I'll happily make anything you want, Lady Tianna! You can wait there while I go and get sewing, if you like.

9qk5ifz8 oA fade to black, and...

Aiedupgv oFinished! Here you are, Lady Tianna.

Ps4nmuuw oThree bags? But I only asked for the one...

Kounopte o

Aiedupgv oIf you hadn't gotten those linens from Bornia, we'd be in trouble... So, thank you, Lady Tianna.

Ilrbpdns oThat's right! You've got my gratitude, too.

Ps4nmuuw oI will accept them gladly. Thank you.

Aiedupgv oNo, thank you! Now, I'd better get to making good on all those orders we have backed up!

Xeuhnajw oB64peb30 oEi9j4i9u o

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags! A shame that with the amount of people that have died, we don't even need them.

Pmm41prd oHwoppjjs o

I'll do the preps offscreen, fuck it. Next time, we go and save the priestesses in arguably this game's most epic and memorable battle. Look forward to it, but... Not to its gameplay. I am almost guaranteed to lose someone there. So... Yeah. Farewell, and... I sure hope I manage to farewell as well, by some miracle.

I've gotten Dean and Faye above 50 no problem. Although it seems like WEXP gain slows down to a crawl eventually. Faye's been stuck on 58 for a while now.

Come to think of it, I wonder if Sarah takes Izerna's place if she isn't around. Otherwise the mission would just be straight up easier. But then again, making things harder by existing never stops Esteban.

Well, the bag storage can hold 16 of those. Or 20 in the near future. Sorta.
Also, for archers I generally give them 2 bags once I can afford it. With all the various bows and arrows you might want to use, that adds up.

But if nothing else they can be sold for a decent amount.

Being someone who Ike's not constantly chasing was a point you raised earlier on, I'm a little lost as to your point in relation to BK not being the central objective. And let's be fair, the issue is we don't get to see BK acting in his role as a Rider of Daein much outside of when he does meet Ike and when he's reporting to Ashnard, hence why I kinda prefer RD (also 100% less rape implications that were localisation's fault). And in that moment he is (Badly) executing Ena.

(Part of this of course being a consequence of him being able to freely teleport, *sigh)

2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

To be honest, I'd just like an Ike-less RD. Or one where his role is vastly smaller, at least. There's just no reason for him to take over as he does, and him being the only one able to kill Ashera... Well, I expected there to be at least a feeble excuse, but turns out there really isn't. He just hogs the spotlight because he can. Hmph...

I don't think Ike in part 3 needs to be dropped so much as 1: the maps made trickier (There's two maps that are actually memorable (3-5 barely and 3F) and 3-7/3-10 cause fear because I was afraid of weapons being used up by the AI. 2: Make the Laguz part of the Laguz Alliance more prominent, allowing us to both get a sense of their peoples and how their part of the war effort fell through. As for taking over afterwards, I can see it for the Tower, but before that we have 3 armies, one of which is led by the GM, sure, but that doesn't case me palpitations (what might is the sleep on the stairway)

Him being the only one who can take out Ashera doesn't get explained either, Yune could have blessed literally anyone else. But nope, Ike makes might, right?

The worst part is you know Ike the character dislikes the spotlight regardless so it being on him doesn't really work, though it would explain why he fucks off out of Tellius afterwards.

He very much can use the shield on magic, it grants 18 res against all magic types except dark (not that it matters for Vandal). Vandal himself has no magic res, though, which is why it's so impressive that Enid only deals 1 more point than Adel when she has to get through like 16 less defense.

Lances broken please nerf.

What is it with Tellius and overcompensating on magic (I feel like Kaga's trying to apologise for Judgral and then Sienna in every other thing he's done)

...To be fair, it's difficult to match this death in beauty, too. Like, I've had my fair share of bullshit deaths, but this is something else. Critical berserk. It's like, all the shit that everyone hates in these games, combined.

Critical from berserk. On a unit with a critical objective.

2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Worse, actually. You didn't take into account that Alvina had a chance to use her shield. This wouldn't have mattered because with 4 less damage she would've gotten exactly one-shot... Except the crit damage could've been lower than that. It fluctuates between 10 and 20, remember? I won't ask you to run the math on that, but it wouldn't surprise me if the actual chance was, like, half what you said or less.

Wasn't it 32 damage with the crit?

As in if it were 4 reduced from the shield she would have lived?

2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Well... I'd love to claim it was a misclick, but... No. I put Larentia in berserk range consciously, because I completely forgot about Almachus's berserk, somehow. So yeah. A product of my imbecility, all in all.

Consciously. Sure.

Still a mistaken click to me. 😛

He's an exemplary weakling

His stats had a 10 ceiling

He's an exemplary at failure

Almachus nearly slayed "le travailleur".

All of these things make him out to be a fool

But most importantly of all he's an exemplary tool.

So she had a guy who died under Mordias.

At this point, the scene changes depending on whether Alvina is alive or not. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Bnes4lei oFor the Church of Raze, the Apostle is to be feared above all others. They call her the "Witch of Veria." Naturally, they are terrified of the idea of Apostle Sanacia's awakening. Thus, they will likely attempt a sealing ritual before executing her.

Meoilxpy oSealing?

Bnes4lei oA method of stripping the Apostle of her power, written in Razite Scripture.

So this sealing ceremony calls for spilling heathen blood to stop the powers of heathen blood. That's a strange one, but blood magic is blood magic, it doesn't have to make sense.

Why would they bother? Does the Apostle become reincarnated into the Water Tribe if she dies, or something?

I was wondering this myself back when I was translating, and I have no sure explanation. My hypothetical explanations were:

  • They are worried that if they try to kill the Apostle, she'll just awaken instead.
  • They think the Apostle might not be killable at all by normal means.
  • They don't know whether there are any other Apostle candidates alive, so if they can seal this one, they can prevent her powers from being passed on (and prevent themselves from having to go on another wild goose chase sometime within the next 15 years).

I think the second option is probably closest to the author's intent, as you will see during the map.

On 11/10/2020 at 4:22 AM, Saint Rubenio said:

But... wait... wait a second! That doesn't add up! Back in chapter 7, they stated that Bernard was 12 when he supposedly "rebelled" and was exiled! He'd have to be 26... This would make him 17 back then! What's going on? Did Kaga fall asleep? Am I missing something here?

A bit of timeline explanation regarding this, as well as all of the recent revelations regarding Bernard's siblings (there shouldn't be any spoilers here):

Spoiler
  • 587: Volcens is born.
  • 588: Bernard is born.
  • 590: Anastasia is born.
  • 593: Friedrich is born.
  • 597: Sienna is born.
  • 600: Arles commits suicide, leaving a note falsely pleading guilty to patricide-regicide and entrusting everything to Mordias. and the Civil War begins. At some point between now and 604, Arles's wife Artemia dies. (Bernard 12, Sienna ~3.) [CIVIL WAR BEGINS]
  • May 603: Bernard's grandfather--Carloman of Leia--is killed, and Bernard is captured. Carloman's son Alecto becomes the next king of Leia and takes up the leadership. (Bernard ~15, Sienna ~6.)
  • Jan-Feb 604: Mordias asks the (heretofore neutral) Raze Empire for help in subjugating Leia.
  • Mar 10, 604: Leia officially falls to Raze, and Alecto is killed. Friedrich and Anastasia are captured by the Raze Empire. Unofficial remnants continue to fight in the region.
    • Friedrich becomes the janissary "Zephyrus," and he becomes BFFs with "Arcturus" (whose real name is never given). Anastasia becomes the domestic servant "Spica" in a wealthy man's home. Some years later, Anastasia's identity is found out and brought before the Emperor as a hostage. However, the Emperor instead falls in love with her and marries her, and eventually they have a son, Manaris.
    • After Anastasia becomes Empress, Zephyrus and Arcturus decide to serve Raze 110% so they can rise through the ranks and gain renown. That way, they can keep Anastasia and Manaris in power while keeping the Pope and Faisal out of power.
  • Jul 604: Late in Apostle Silpha's pregnancy, she has her first Oracle, proving Arles's innocence and fingering Pope Urbanus. She orders for the war to end at once.
  • Aug 604: Mordias agrees to end the war if he is crowned king. Silpha agrees.
  • Sep 15, 604: Sanacia Phira Bronte is born.
  • Aug-Sep 604: Despite being crowned king, Mordias does not stop the war. Silpha threatens him with excommunication (which would depose him) if he doesn't.
  • Sep 604: Mordias begs the Apostle for forgiveness, and they reconcile, but it's a sham. He provides the Shining Knights with false information that the Highland Duchy's main temple is being attacked. While the Knights are busy, Mordias has the Apostle and everyone at her temple complex slaughtered, leaving behind evidence to implicate the Raze Empire. Only Paramythis and the infant Sanacia survive. With the Raze Empire as their common enemy, most former rebels in the civil war rally behind Mordias. [WAR WITH RAZE BEGINS]
  • abt. Sep 604: Paramythis informs the Shining Knights that Mordias was really behind the attack. The Shining Knights declare war on Mordias, while Mordias declares war on the Raze Empire and orders the rebelling Shining Knights to be purged. (The Shining Rebellion is treated as a continuation of the civil war.)
  • early 605: The last noteworthy remnants of the Leian resistance are stamped out by Duke Roswick. (This, among other earlier deeds in service of Moridas, was what Roswick was referring to when he apologized to Bernard for his actions during the Civil War.)
  • 605: After being held in the capital for two years, Bernard is sentenced to the penal colony in Mineva for 12 years. This is where the scene with Lebough and Sienna fits in. (Bernard ~17, Sienna 8.)
  • 607: The Shining Knights are finally purged completely, finally ending the civil war.  [CIVIL WAR ENDS]
  • Apr 616: Zephyrus kills Mordias in battle.
  • 617: Bernard is released after serving his 12-year sentence. Mordias's wife (the Duchess of Diana) grants Bernard the Duchy of Diana, making him a nobleman again and reconfirming Bernard and Sienna's betrothal (as the duchy would've been inherited by Sienna anyway). He joins Margrave Bernstol as a commander of the western front, bringing it back from the shambles it had been in after Serenia and Yutoria defected to the Empire.
  • Jun 618-Dec 619: Berwick Saga happens.
    • approx. May 619: Bernard is exiled again (lol Volcens)
    • approx. Aug 619: Zephyrus and Sienna both stage their plans to break Bernard out of prison. (Bernard 31, Sienna 22)
  • Dec 619 - Early 620: Epilogue.

As you can see, the Berwick Civil War--which was really two consecutive wars attempting to oust Mordias--stretched from 600-607, hence why it's called the "Eight Years of Blood."

Finally, since Sanacia's 15th birthday is coming up (erroneously stated by Lebough to be her 14th in the Japanese version, despite the fact that we know her exact birthdate and so many other timeline details), we know that Chapter 12 must be in September 619, with this next map specifically on the night of September 14th to the morning of the 15th. Serendipitously for the translation, this also that the coming-of-age-at-fifteen thing is exactly the same as what happened to Katri in TRS. Let the fan theories about any potential connections commence!

  • They think the Apostle might not be killable at all by normal means.
  • They don't know whether there are any other Apostle candidates alive, so if they can seal this one, they can prevent her powers from being passed on (and prevent themselves from having to go on another wild goose chase sometime within the next 15 years).

So basically Valkyria Chronicles Highlander, Fire Emblem (including Ruben's fanfiction of it) and Harry Potter?

That was General Zephryus. You might have seen him in the map where Marcel died. He's the guy that Berned the Stool a ways back. He's also Larentia's former commander, and the one who sent her to join the League. (Which ironically thanks to that berserk could have led to the most devastating betrayal in the game). He tried to commit suicide by Reese out of guilt over Bernstol, but Larentia prevented it.

We recently found out (well in some ways confirmed)

Spoiler

He's one of the only good Razite priests left, because the jerk in charge of the church took inspiration from the Night of the Long Knives and set about killing off anyone who wasn't an irredeemable piece of trash. Owen, and another individual by the name of Azrael escaped... but not before a confrontation with said jerk resulted in a mind control whammy being placed on him. Basically, he can resist it, but he has to focus to do so. If he were to get fatigued, by something like spending more than 20 turns in battle... he'd fall under the spell and essentially be another mindless pawn in his former boss's schemes. However, it's been confirmed that the Verian Apostle can remove the curse. Catch being, if she dies here... Owen's screwed to a life of turning into a garbage bag man if he's not actively fighting it. Basically, Owen's been fighting two wars. One physical, one spiritual the whole game.

It's rare to see such a great level in Berwick Saga.

You think I care? If anything, it made me angrier!

Guess the reason Duke Reed tried to have Vester killed was not because he was brainwashed, it was just that Vester is that insufferable.

Vkuszlmr oAlmachus.

Fnstd6ym oYes, Your Grace?

Vkuszlmr oYou and I both know that your story is hogwash.

Fnstd6ym oWhatever do you mean, Your--

Vkuszlmr oAlmachus, you called the Apostle "Witch of Veria" and didn't even realize you said something wrong.

Fnstd6ym o...Yes, that... may've been a mistake...

Vkuszlmr oWell, no matter. Go and capture my son.

Fnstd6ym oWhat?!

Vkuszlmr oYou heard me, Almachus.

Good grief, Vanmilion. Would you mind doing something about your buddy being an ass to your cousin? Christ.

Vanmilion's also awful with women, so... Perhaps he thinks Vester's doing just fine? It wouldn't surprise me, almost everyone in this game is completely hopeless when it comes to romance.

Meoilxpy o Given how high the stakes are, am I correct to assume that you intend to join us to save the Apostle?

Bnes4lei o I suppose it might be more prudent to say that I would not dare to challenge him at all. May the Goddess be with you, Lord Reese.

Lebough knows who's in charge of the Sinon Army's tactics. He doesn't want to die. Can you really blame him?

Honestly though, it would've been cool to get Lebough as a playable. He doesn't really do much after this map, anyway, it would've been neat.

Why would they bother? Does the Apostle become reincarnated into the Water Tribe if she dies, or something?

Maybe they fear that Paramythis will arrive and screw all their plans with her Faramir act?

It's strange that Reese mentions a specific number here. Even if the church only had 4 sisters, it's not like he would know.
Come to think of it, I wonder if Sarah takes Izerna's place if she isn't around. Otherwise the mission would just be straight up easier.

We could to ask @Spara, since he lost Izerna.

But then again, making things harder by existing never stops Esteban.

The one upside to Christine's extremely stupid death.

Well, the bag storage can hold 16 of those. Or 20 in the near future. Sorta.
Also, for archers I generally give them 2 bags once I can afford it. With all the various bows and arrows you might want to use, that adds up.

But if nothing else they can be sold for a decent amount.

All true. Hey, I never said free bags is a bad thing.

Ah, that's it! I apologize, I explained myself poorly. That's what I meant. The guy doesn't do much of what he's supposed to do, he just appears, kills Greil and... That's about it? He appears a couple of times to just stand there and seem all mysterious and powerful, but beyond that he's just there so Ike can get his revenge subplot.

Still, once more, he's not bad. There's a couple wonky things about him, but he's a good villain that makes an impression. It's in RD that he begins to suffer from some greater issues.

(Part of this of course being a consequence of him being able to freely teleport, *sigh)

Warp powder.

These are fine ideas. I mean, part 3 is my least favorite part of RD. Yeah, I even liked part 4 better. It was shit, but less shit, and I actually had units I cared about there.

Him being the only one who can take out Ashera doesn't get explained either, Yune could have blessed literally anyone else. But nope, Ike makes might, right?

That's my biggest problem with it. At least Ashnard had an excuse. A shitty one, and it utterly ruined all of Ashnard's wonderful battle convos, but there was something. Ashera is just "Ike is amazing, love him or else".

The worst part is you know Ike the character dislikes the spotlight regardless so it being on him doesn't really work, though it would explain why he fucks off out of Tellius afterwards.

Ah yes, Ike's wonderful ending.

Lances broken please nerf.

Never...!

What is it with Tellius and overcompensating on magic (I feel like Kaga's trying to apologise for Judgral and then Sienna in every other thing he's done)

Sienna? You mean Sierra, right? I mean, I don't see why he'd have to apologize, Sierra is the most fun mage ever.

Critical from berserk. On a unit with a critical objective.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that second part.

Vxqntpa3 oWhat a show Lady Tianna!

I agree with Rosalie, that was great.

At first I thought there might have been an arrangement Tianna didn't want, but this just gave another wrinkle.

Eesh...

So she had a guy who died under Mordias.

#Mordiasdideverythingwrong.

Not only a guy, she had a dad too. #Mordiasdideverythingwrong indeed.

DayniAnd Vester did the first thing not to do when wooing widows/bereaved fiancees: Dismissing past relationships

Past relationships that are recently deceased, to boot. The guy's fucking horrible!

Also, I do not want to see Almachus's kingly serpent thank you.

Why not? Look, it's so adorable!

6c24kfim o

He calls her "Cootie Wootie". Who will take care of her now that Almachus is in two minds about things...?

Sheesh, to think Reese is a blessing compared to what she was dealing with. Good thing Reese removed his emotions to make himself more powerful I guess.

Thank Goddess for the sociopath!

- Tianna, probably.

This is too fucking relatable.

I share the exact concerns in this quote and I do not like it.

Sheesh... Hope everything's all right, pal.

Wait, weren't the Razenclaw the jokes from Chapter 2's side map?

Yep.

How did this work?

I imagine Disaad and his morons were the worst members of the group, so they sent 'em to the volcano to get rid of them.

And then we sent Disaad back home.

So this sealing ceremony calls for spilling heathen blood to stop the powers of heathen blood. That's a strange one, but blood magic is blood magic, it doesn't have to make sense.

It's just an excuse to kill girls.

AND WE'RE EXPECTED TO THINK NOT EVERYTHING IS AWFUL WITH RAZE BUT THEN THIS SHOWS UP

Maybe Urbanus made up that part? Wouldn't surprise me.

Is_wii_red_gem.pngHwait that was oddly easy.

This is gonna be fun.

Three bagses

Reach for my bag
I'll berserk away
Into the darkness,
Oh, I wish I could kill
Here in these despised woods,
In violent days
I fear the edge of noon,

Knowing Larentia betrays.

Faint spells pass through pale skin,
In this hated place,
Orb shines, the knight dines
Upon each ally,
As death surrounds, pain abounds,
And I can feel I'm losing my mind,

For just this moment lost in time,
I fucking hate Larentia.

Yet still I use her,
Because she's too good,
My infuriated heart,
Scorched by fury, a rage I can't run from.

I look to her,
Like a bloodied rose,
Seeking her end,
No matter where she goes.

I long to send her
Where the light dwells not
To guard against her treason
That Alvina knows so well.

As Alvina falls on the path,
I chase her wyvern,
I feel a single tear,

Below my eye.

Then she turns to me and I
Stop before I know,

And the insults upon my lips,
I let them go.

Cross her heart,
Making vows I know I won't make good on,
A sad tactician's pleas,
Live only for a chapter and then they fade.

My dearest wish,
Is that you'll know,
I am so sorry

I killed you all.
My tactics led
To your demise
And all I can do is shout
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~

...Well, that certainly took a turn.

I'd appreciate three free bags, hush Tianna.

So do I.

I dunno, being able to not think about throwing stuff away as much seems nice.

That is true.

File:Berwick estobar.jpgWell that explains why you look so...... out of focus, let me say.

So, another unit being given a happy ending eh?

Perhaps.

Did you know, accountability is surprisingly sparse? Well, it is. And it's annoying me that it is. We literally had multiple broadcasters for the national broadcaster get caught red handed at a retirement party with no distancing and masks. And most we got were apologies because they were caught, not even slaps on the wrist. Look, I wouldn't even rag on this but for the sheer hypocrisy of it all with complaining about others doing so while then tunring around and doing the very thing they're complaining about.

At least they're being consistent with holding those in power to account.

That's the way the world works. In really, really shitty ways.

I need something stupid to counter that.

You know what's cool about all those violent games? It was all about the-

I think the second option is probably closest to the author's intent, as you will see during the map.

Actually, I'd say what happens during the map fits the first explanation more than the second. But let's wait and see.

A bit of timeline explanation regarding this, as well as all of the recent revelations regarding Bernard's siblings (there shouldn't be any spoilers here):

  Hide contents

"Lol Volcens" is my favorite part of Berwick history.

As you can see, the Berwick Civil War--which was really two consecutive wars attempting to oust Mordias--stretched from 600-607, hence why it's called the "Eight Years of Blood."

Thanks for clarifying that. It does make sense, after all. This game's backstory can get a bit convoluted.

Ohhh... That's so cool, though!

Let the fan theories about any potential connections commence!

Damnit, Holmes! Somehow this is all your fault! I knew it!

A surefire way to ruin Wrys. Giving all the spirit dust and talismans to Matthis.

...Okay, save those for Wrys-- But everything else!

To my understanding in 1, he could promote unlimited times due to a glitch... which made him broken. I might have to see sometime.

I've heard of that. It sounds hilarious.

I guess he needs to stop the boats.

If he doesn't get benched for Marisa or something like that. I mean, he already stands a pretty good chance to get sacked for Ewan, because Ewan can go summoner, which is more useful than anything slowpoke Ross can do.

...That, and as a level 10 pupil Ewan already had better speed than hero!Ross. Seriously. He's so hideously speed screwed, it's not even funny at this point.

EDIT: Ruben from the future here! Ross indeed got benched, but... It wasn't for Marisa. It was... perhaps even worse: He got benched for L'Arachel.

My earlier (still missing) version, they all were teaching each other techniques... meaning multiple singers. But I couldn't remember whose lines were what... so in the rewrite... it became Valery.
Probably for the best, the TRS Slaver being in it didn't make any sense (hence his replacement).

Probably for the best indeed, the new version is great.

No... but the guy who was responsible hasn't been in the government for a while now. You could say he had Electile Dysfunction when it came to securing a second term.

Hahahahahahaha... That's the best way to put it I've ever seen. Someone hand Trump a viagra... Or... On second thought, don't.

This somehow reminds me of the origin of Aphrodite, in that Zeus castrated his father Chronos after defeating him, and threw his severed testes into the ocean... only for Aphrodite to be born from the blood and sea foam. Somehow. I don't understand the logic. But now I'm afraid of the results of that comparison.

Don't tempt me. You know I'll make an edit giving Volcyboy boobs. You know I'm capable of it.

To be fair, so did most of the dialogue in the story. To the point I actually forgot his first name until I saw it again.

Hah!

And so, Ruben was kicked off the bus, after saying he'd like a screwdriver.

Pffft... Oh, please...

Some of which may or may not be erotic.

Collector's house BMG intensifies

I meant myself, with all these paladins dying left and right in this Berwick run. It's not safe.

Ohh...

No, but you see, you're not a paladin. You're a the paladin. Completely different class. You're safe.

I mean... it increases his survival chances.

Well, that it does, I guess...

*note, future Roger here. Not sure I approve now. Read certain dialogue*

Eh?

As opposed to your Sylvis comments?

...Uhhhhhhhhh...

...I...

......

...Why is anyone watching me, again?

I don't even know how that happened. "T" and "C" aren't even close... what the hell is wrong with me?

Maybe since you're used to seeing Marcel in this game, your brain went for it automatically?

You could say it was pure Golb....89.

Hah!

Wondered when she'd be back.

Oh, boy, is she ever back. You're about to find out why she's the second (possibly first but hush) best waifu in the game.

Hopefully long enough to find a new supplier.  Perhaps someone named "Merchent".

Maerchen.

 Oooh, thanks Roger.

It's The Roger. Make no mistake.

Lmao, yeah that is true.

Well, it's all right. All I want is for you to enjoy yourself however you can.

Huh. So we did but not exactly... then what I saw of the last- well ok I'm not saying anything.

Good.

Yes. I'm lazy.

Pfft...

Ohh so I missed the gag where the gods start to become frequent stars of the LP. That's nice.

Not really, it came out of nowhere.

Ward's really cool though. Sometimes is an overstatement, he's not usually an asshole.

It's usually when people don't let him go to sleep.

Ra Ra Rasputin! Lover of the Russian Queen!

Hah!

Oh, I didn't know that! What, is his curse being cucked by a Razite and Verian priest such that he switches between the two at all times?

The Roger provided a great summary.

Woah Larentia is an epic gamer? Ok that's kinda based bro.

Wha...!?

I feel bad for her in this subplot though. It's not like she wanted to, yes Berserk lasted a long time, perhaps the berserk upon her was especially stronger, idk.

She enjoyed it, the shitload of fuck.

This, coupled with the food that gives hit.... Perceval good now?!?!?!?!

Maybe. We'll see.

oof, but yes. Bags nice.

Bags good.

Navarron.

...Whoops.

Creo que Ruebhen debe pasar al Pizarron Marron para que le den un coscorron y aprenda a escribir.

Jajajajajajaja... Cabrón.

Assassins everywhere:

Spoiler
6ktfcffo o

Hello, everyone. Welcome to a new update of the thing. Today we're going to play Mario Golf, a very nice and relaxing game that doesn't have assassins, priests with sleep orbs, fog or time limits.

Vi9gd0so o

I will pick Luigi. Shocking, I know.

Jedoph6w o

For the AI, Waluigi will suffice. I'm not entirely sure what he's supposed to be doing in the character select screen. Anyway, since I'm a hardcore gamer, I'm going to challenge myself and set him to novice difficulty.

Jatr6687 o

And we're off! That's quite the, uh... green green.

Rw1xjklm o

Eghtroc7 o

Okay, let's go for the hole-in-one. Go!

5f25ahgn o

...Okay, we'll go for an albatross. Erzheimer will like that better, anyway.

B5y0d8ro o

I'd like to see this dumbass do half as good as me! Hah! I can't lose here! I can't get hit critically by 80 crit knives here! Isn't this so much more enjoyable than what we were supposed to be doing?

8ze6srfl o

Hah, see? I am so far ahead.

7oqzu4nb o

O-Oi! Why does he get to go again? Sorry, I'm not privy to the rules of golf...

Gl9fxanu o

Son of a bitch, he's next to the hole already... I can't let this be!

Lnqvet34 o

I have to score from here if I want to win.

F2n8te6i o

Oh, you've got to be-- That was such a narrow miss! I'm not playing as Perceval, what the hell is this!?

Zateqvqx o

Hah! You missed too, you dick! And now...

Vwlyhczy o

All I have to do is hit the ball gently. This is, like, a 99%. No way I can miss.

Yft8ydpz o

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT

Jvclmv5w o

This was supposed to be an easy game!

Bkmhozil o

Okay, I can still recover... I just have to land it from here.

Hy9dwggk o

C'mon...!

En7isylu o

WATER HAZARD-- WATER HAZARD!?!?! WHERE THE FUCK DID THAT COME FROM!? THIS IS SO MUCH BULLSHIT, THE GAME AND THE RNG ARE BROKEN!

OH, TO HELL WITH THIS! WHAT ELSE CAN I PLAY!?

4imsshjt o

......

...O-Oh, God...

Orchckpm o

Here it is. Quite possibly the toughest map in the entire game. On the bright side, it does have one of the best map themes. Sound familiar? If it doesn't, go back to the intro post for a moment, and open the first link. I love when games do this. Use the opening theme in the later stages of the game. It's a neat thing.

Anyway. Our team today consists of units. If you look closely at Ruby's sprite, you may notice that she has no shield. This is because I am stupid. Thaddy is here because I want to make it as easy as possible to grab a blood knife. There's four thieves with it, so we should have ample opportunity to do it. There's also a funny thing you can do with Thaddy in this map, but I don't think I'll want to risk screwing it up.

Qetulsnj o

This map has fog in it. This map also has assassins. There's like... too many assassins. There's also a few hidden assholes with sleep orbs prowling about. There's no ballistae, but there is one guy with wormwood, and it's impossible to avoid him because thieves are running around uncovering everyone. And then there's, of course, the fact that I can't take on the map at my own pace, because there's time limits stricted than the one in 11-1. See that guy up there, on the top right?

Mcoxgvxo oXi6yy5zy o

No, not this one. This one is... I don't understand his existence, to be honest. Semdallion is a Chaos clone that gives you absolutely nothing if you best him. He's also so far out of the way that you have to actively seek him out. Oh, and he stands a good chance to murder us to death if we poke him. I won't even try. I like my units best when they've their heads attached, thank you very much.

Tzdktn3y o

This is the guy. Guys like these will pop up all over the map, and we'll have to be ready to intercept them. They'll move towards the boss's area, without stopping to attack, while their bodyguards (each captor comes with two) will bring the fight to us. If even just one of these captors makes it to their destination, it's all over. I can't spend ten turns making sure there's no assassins, because then the map ends! But if I don't do that, I risk dying! So what do we do? Easy: We... We pray. We pray that my tactics won't fail us once again.

...This is going to be a disaster. Argh... Fuck it, let's go!

Nrveg1a3 o

A1ro5afv o

Xvrsbfd6 o...The old temple site is just a bit further west of here. To get there, Her Eminence and the others will need to be brought here along the way, I believe.

Meoilxpy oAnd by the looks of it, we managed to get here before them... We'll ambush the enemy here and take back their hostages.

Xvrsbfd6 oAre you certain that you want to do battle in such darkness?

Meoilxpy oWith the Apostle's life at risk, we don't have much of a choice.

Xvrsbfd6 oThank you, Lord Reese. I am honored to fight beside you.

Hasetw51 o

Meanwhile, on the bad guys side, we have a generic garbage bag and a slightly less generic garbage bag.

Hnhlhojb oTo confound any rescue attempts by the League, all of the sacrifices are being brought by separate routes. They should arrive here soon, so long as there is no trouble.

Abeiuzpp oThey had better. The Witch will come of age in a matter of hours. I needn't remind you what disasters might befall us should we fail...

Hnhlhojb oBut Cardinal Rasputin, why can we not simply get rid of her now?

Abeiuzpp oScripture tells us that a sacrifice is necessary to kill the Witch. We don't know what will happen if we take action without one. However, as soon as one of them arrives, begin the ritual at once.

Hnhlhojb oYes, Cardinal...

Tvkyb31o o

Look alive, guys. We're about to find out who the famous Apostle is!

Venunlll o

Gasp! It's Saphira! Who could've possibly foreseen this!?

9oer7ewf o

Kwwh6zmc oIt's about time that you and that Witch were burned. May Raze have mercy on your soul.

Zlonc8lu o(Your Eminence...)

Rshon30i o

This has to be the biggest mission specs in the game. There's another special event, concerning Owen, but the game doesn't tell you about that one. Which is just great. I mean, we don't have to do anything ourselves to trigger it, but it would've been nice to know it would happen. You'll see why when the time comes.

Vfjya18k oZ67ubpef o

New unit? New unit! Paramythis is awesome. She has no availability, which is a shame, but when she exists she's just... Aw, so great. She's a mounted healer who fights with swords, and she can actually do so quite well, too. She's two levels away from fortify. Not convinced? There's more!

- Versatile allows her to give enemies a nasty surprise for trying to prey on the poor little healer girl.

- Pursuit! Pursuit! She has Pursuit with 17 speed! Yes! Yes!!

- Camouflage is whatever, but hey, it's there.

- Flourish isn't that great at this stage of the game, but... Eh, if nothing else, I can try using her to get that blood knife.

- Imbue has its situational uses.

...Honestly, just Pursuit makes her awesome. Notice, by the way, that she can use maces. It's... completely useless, and she doesn't even get any cool sprites out of it, it's just the same animations as swords. I guess it's there mostly just for the sake of saying that there's no enemy-exclusive weapon types, like Adel with pitchforks.

Ykjlt8gf o

First things first, let's have Paramythis take from Perceval our spare physic orb. Owen has one of his own.

Auwgijq5 o

Larentia scouts ahead carefully. Hmm... nothing.

3irfhwdc o

And just like that, nobody is hidden by the fog anymore! I'll show you the reason why.

Enxavhrx oD2knwolv o

Yeah... Stealthing this mission is kinda impossible with all these guys.

Xzvw0lwy o

Sigh... There we go, boys.

Uu9k3szp oI81ksxge o

Good, thank you.

Cl4xmwji o

Worth a shot.

R1mi1tfc oF1bclw7h o

Wha-- Miracle!? You've got to be kidding me...

Jr7pqalp o

The captor begins to move.

Yuowcrwh o

Let's try this once more.

Bfvtf1k8 o8rwdc2uc o

Fuck off.

2vboyo9f o

No, what!?

Avga8smq o

Son of a--

Ebkvhgog o

Die!

Srjjmind o

That wasn't even a miracle miss...

Bnuvyqgp o

Pick up the slack, Sherlock.

Lyun4ecn o

...Off to a great start already. The horseman has to succeed where Best Sniper did not. Urgh...

Lsx3osax oHtjouohl o

Hey, great level, man!

Yidawnfr o

Awesome, we even got that back.

V7cj1rny o

Larentia does some more scouting.

2h5vn7qt o

Unfortunately, we have to press onward, whether I like it or not. We can't let Luciana be whisked away to Rasputin!

B0kziowm o

Oh, fuck my life...

Shbujgqs o

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ktuq2ygc oRpf9dsbu o

12 uses of sleep. Nice. I don't think we even have as many uses of awaken!

0erchjyi o

No-- Stop! Not again!

Vlsdaknk o

Uhhh! What has just walked itself to us?

Fyiijv2h o

Why, it's the blood knife!

Pcrp087z o

Let's see if we can keep an eye on that until turn 5. Then we can savescum a capture, because Berwick Saga's capture system is wonderful.

Kueuvifc oP4ttbn8q o

Heal up, Ward.

0aicfhju o

Before we continue, I have marked the Shit Range. At least three of those priests have sleep, and Rasputin and Alfons (the generic priest to the right of Rasputin) have berserk. All in all, not something you want to deal with.

Hedupsi1 o

Okay, back to the action. It's time to die!

Lilq0vq7 o

Oof...

Wlbctez8 oWtbnzyl8 o

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bgdxpxbs oWhf06oz2 o

There's no stopping this bastard! Adept, crits, you name it, he does it!

6rioarxt o

Oh, goddamnit...

Jk0f5zwa oRkrgumx9 o

Screw you, Razenclaw!

Hw6buax7 o

Urk...!

8uiontxe o8auby94j o

Oi! Don't you break MY knife! Or, well, should I say Erzheimer's knife?

Ec93dobd o

Paramythis, grab the awaken orb. Owen is too slow to get there fast.

Gto2ffhu o

...Damnit, he can't reach Reese.

Fkwibksw o

Oooooouuuuuuaaaaaaaargh...! That's gonna sting in the morning!

Z2fpzsvi o

And yet, he won't wake up. Well, let's fix that. For Ward, I mean. Reese has already used up his turn. Ward will be able to move after we fix him up.

44okfoum o0gdnbng4 o

Cute spell animation.

Rswf3mul o

Aha...!

M9jm6eyf o

Time to go!

Enoobf4i o

No more naps for us. We're going to pull an all-nighter, whether they like it or not!

Mzjgrpne o

Could be looking worse.

Q4kf6njm o

We really have to hurry.

0hfqe5nx o

Okay, so here's the deal. Owen won't be attacked by the knight, because he's still angry at Reese. We just need to make sure Reese won't die.

C22aflka oNizmiuu7 o

Oki-dokie, exactly as planned.

Czle2eiw o

And now you get up.

Adpka9rh o

Go, go, go, go! We've clerics to rescue!

Ucsc8gcq o

You too, Ward. I know you aren't too fond of young women and doing things at night, but Berwick will literally die if we fail. Please endure.

Uenrij0q o

Hmm... That looks like it could work.

Pfh6cbwg o

Heh heh heh...

H4qa04so o

Bastard dodged twice, but one of the arrows got through his shield, so... All in all, he's not dead, which is a bad thing.

Qd5rz7mk o

Worth a shot. Besides, I'd rather he goes after Ruby than Sylvis.

N7nr04l4 oQfrtvtsg o

Meh.

Dz2a300l o

Eyyy!

Orc1kx6p o

A new challenger approaches!

8gsjafw9 o

Aside from him being yet another sleep bastard, of note is the fact that he has this. One less magic than the divine brace, but losing speed is whatever. I'd like to get one of these, so I can give the divine brace to Erzie without regrets.

Nayhkmuv o

The blood knife thief stumbles into Thaddy while trying to reach Perceval.

3g0jabvd o

What!? Thaddy was hidden, and he had no weapons equipped! How come the thief was able to attack him!? I thought this couldn't happen!

Ivdras21 oYnaywrxb o

Awww, come on! An injury too?

Wqqif48f o

The good news is... It's turn 4. And Perceval is right there. We got the knife in the bag.

Rrfxezcw o

Why does Sherlock keep having to finish the job for Sylvis? What has this world come to?

Bssjmdth o

Oh, shit! That could be a problem...

O4qkdstc o

Kmqazzcl o

Kwwh6zmc oThat won't do at all... Guess I'll have to drag you. Oh, and just so you don't think about biting your tongue...

Xkynbhhs oW-What?! Hey, stop it---! Mmmph...! Mmm-mmmhh!

E1outtpw o

Never mind. It won't be a problem. The forest keeps them from reaching Thaddy.

Vdg9dlzq o

Here's the plan: knives have a good injury rate. I will have Thaddy slash away at his fellow thief until he manages an injury. Then Perceval can lightning his ass!

Sewefhct o

It didn't take that many tries, thankfully. Just a failed strike and a couple of misses.

Okhlgipc o

...Oh no! If he hits Perceval, he might absorb enough health to cure his injury!

Csvr6saa o

Never mind. Dodgeval! He curses his enemies to suffer the same fate as himself!

Vqlcvref oJ2a5uypv o

Oh fuck! That's not good... It's up to Reese now.

Uj29lvxs o

The good news is, he's almost caught up!

Hjljg9xc o

Hohohohohohohohohohohoh... Look at that beautiful hitrate! And keep in mind, that's a thief! Ruby with an estoc was barely above 60!

V9urkbc6 oSetvz3mc o

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm glad 8 people have died for this. Well, not glad, exactly, but... I'm less upset than I should be.

H1dazqd4 o

That's it, the knife is ours! Erzheimer will be beyond pleased.

Uzmycbj1 o8idbc54h o

Let's celebrate by patching up Ward.

Qgwjzkpu oWwrn8s4p o

Faye takes care of the capturing. Mission accomplished!

77xgf9j6 o

More enemies from the west.

Ngkve0ko o

Gwahahahah... You know what's about to happen? Heheheh...

Yx9uyscz o

Boom! There goes your brain! Pesky sleeper priest...!

Fr3s0fd7 o

...Shoot, he can't run very far! At least he can escape from that other knight prowling about in the darkness...

Udrnqqd4 o

Worth a shot.

9kbkkh9d o2o04hbzw o

It never is worth a shot...

Bn0cjki2 o

It seems all the knights have the hidden skill that makes them angry at people who attack them. That's quite handy.

Pbijckhe o

Oh look, another guy with this. I no longer have need of you! Begone!

Umjuvhyv o

Next turn will be it for Luciana.

Ybvydf0o o

Oh hey. Like I explained earlier, the bodyguards of captors will try to follow along, but if there are player units in range, they will fight.

Vdsmzjmj oWrxzgt4r oJtuqpc0v o

That was a catastrophic mistake on your part. You didn't even succeed at stalling Reese.

Ggikcmsq o

You... You... No!

Jmyxijca o

The coast is clear. We can now liberate the first cleric.

Xdgbhgzv o

The second shall follow soon... But first, Thaddy needs to run for cover if he wants to survive.

Zlmd7mt6 oLfftlgs1 o

Gwaaah...!

U8usfssl o

Time to go bye-bye! I'm using the Gram here for extra reliability.

Apycgk1g o

The south.

These guys just use the regular battle theme, but seeing as it's been ages since I last linked it...

Cmob5dsv o

Boom, and...

R9ubyaz4 o

Kuuuhh!

Nwjgbmlj o

Boooooooooooooom! Cleric 1 is free!

Isnakbmi o

That you have, but don't feel too bad about it. These things happen.

Uurueptp oBwhrxnmi o

See? Sometimes you win, sometimes you get a bad level and sometimes you die. It's all in a day's work.

Zccjsjzo o

Now, don't worry. The clerics disappear after they're rescued, you don't have to escort them or anything like that. Thank God.

Axyzani0 oWfcaqinb o

Now, let's patch the good sociopath up. Wouldn't do for him to die at this point.

0fyvbxej o

Hwahahahahahah... Oh man. I love it. Accurate Perceval... It's almost unbelievable.

Gnrclzod o

NO! NO, I MISCLICKED! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Avawxjhu o5pscakps o

Goddamnit, Perceval! Even when you accuracy is good, I you miss the correct enemy so you may go for the one with the higher chance to miss! You're one hell of a dedicated man - dedicated to failing!

Fzpx5ai5 o

Well, I mean, since we started it, might as well finish!

C64en5dn oXjjgfw8d o

Excellent job, Sylvis.

O393qnvv oPgwyfj7g o

Even better! Hahahahahaha, lovely! You're just lovely, Sylvis!

Ygswsuxl o

I love it when it's perfectly safe to attack.

Gtqxf1ru oY4plftkt o

Wha...

Q5wsanhg o

Well, that was not great, but at least she did some damage.

Zgbnmfgg oSnty3api oRhyglhs2 o

Larentia begins to work on the second batch of captors.

Orwme9iu oSwyo390u o

Injury, begone!

Xoffk8ne o

Not too shabby. Now, if that front captor could just get out of the way...

Uu1alodc oKihnax2x o

Ah, yeah... Now's that awkward moment when Reese will begin to waste Gram durability.

Nijpvhv7 oVshfqxrl o

I just hope it doesn't break on green...

4lfitdtz o

No, stop it, Reese! If you're going to Adept, Adept properly with a crit! I know you can do it, I've seen you pull it off a thousand times!

Jbfhdytw o

Well, okay, I'll take it.

Eswdjhyh o

Ahhhh, there he comes! Hahahah... Little does he know...

W45rzhm5 o

He has fallen right into my trap!

Qn8fdkf8 o

Dude, your face is about to disappear.

Wuz7azes oA7hl0mob o

See?

F0uxclmi o

Xkynbhhs oMmgh---Pfwah...! *cough cough*

Xkynbhhs o...Okay, I'm all right now... Forget about me and find the Apostle! You've got to save her!

Czv6q2ar o

No can do, Maria. Not yet, anyway. First we have to save all four of you. Two down, two to go.

7drq6dou o

You have picked the wrong fight.

0djvw1rl oXxceww1b o

Heheheheheheheh... It never does get old to watch the Leen Meen Creet Macheen Reese at work.

Xncjjixf oJ7nbi5rb oTzegdote o

With the help of the mithril arrows, Sylvis is able to one-shot another mace man. She's in range of the other one, but nobody else. I do not fear for her life. Not in this particular instance, at least.

Vusyjopr o1is1i3gv oEbqhrukr o

No--Damnit, I need to move Reese before he breaks the Gram!

A7mimuad o

More shield skill? Sure! Fine by me.

Sqkrat9p oVoomklag oY2lmpdui o

Gee, 83% hitrate. 1-RN sure is a wonderful thing.

Hckdxi9n o

Hoaaah!

C8kf4mz3 oLudha6h1 o

Haha fuck you bitch.

Now I have to heal you... Urgh.

Eyyyy, an injury! If I could capture one or two of these guys for their braces, it'd be sweet. Not that I need more than one. I'm not using Aegina, Owen and Paramythis don't need it, and Perceval is never going to sacrifice his newfound reliability for a couple points of damage. This one's going to Enid, and that's it.

Ro5alesq o

Speaking of Perceval's newfound reliability, I'm pretty sure that is a guaranteed capture right there. Percy cannot miss with the dawn charm, and with lightning he's going to cripple him for sure. Heheheh...

If we were using Izerna, this'd be quite the pleasant sight. As it is, she's no more important than the others.

Incidentally, I just took a quick look at the files Aethin provided to me, and until @Spara perhaps confirms it for us, it's a pretty safe guess that Yumil takes Izerna's place if she's dead.

Kwwh6zmc oYou have my word. No harm will come to her before the ritual can begin.

Lgjkwhcy oThat's an oddly polite captor.

Ddhhu3vu o(I'll save you, Your Eminence... Please hold on...)

Lgjkwhcy oAnd that's an oddly idiotic Izerna! What exactly do you intend to do? You cannot fight!

Well, and with that, I think we're good for one update. It's a bit of a weird place to leave it, I know, but we're roughly half-way through, and I couldn't come up with a better place to make the cut. So, might as well do it here. Next time, we rescue the remaining two clerics, Izerna and her mother (since Izerna is alive, I guess Yumil is hiding in a hollow tree somewhere or something). Exciting happenings may occur afterwards. Look forward to it, and please, fare as well as Paramythis did against that assassin. Holy shit, that was good... I still can't believe it! Hahahahah...!

I think the second option is probably closest to the author's intent, as you will see during the map.

Well, the problem with that second explanation is that by itself there is no harm to at least try.

Of course the game never actually goes into the truth of the divine intervention that allowed for the founding of Veria. Which is interesting because if Raze and Veria are both just interpretations from Gerxel, then Veria is not a real deity and consequently couldn't possibly be responsible for the divine intervention that allowed the Kingdom of Veria to come into existence. So who knows what the deal with the Apostle is.

I guess he is here just to scare the crap out of you because at first glance it looks like you are up against Chaos. ...and because at second glance you realize Chaos clones are going to be a thing now. Never actually checked if he has dialog, come to think of it.

He kinda reminds me of that lone and easily avoided Earth Dragon just casually hanging out in Hardin's place in Mystery of the Emblem Book 2. He has identical stats as Medeus in Book 1. So basically the final boss of Book 1 is just casually placed there as if he was a common grunt.
Really puts the increased scale of the threat into perspective, that a whole army of Earth Dragons isn't something that can be beaten, no matter how many levels you get.

New unit?

It's pretty amazing how many conventions of the game Paramythis just casually breaks.
After a whole game of crappy 3 move healers, here we have a Healer who not only has more movement, but also a mount with all the advantages that implies. Because yes, Canto works after using a Healing Orb. Her horse even got a movement boost too.
And unlike them, she is not frail in the slightest. Of course enemies at this point are so dangerous that one must be careful not to make even the slightest mistake but it's still easy to underestimate how much bulk she has because her defense stat is still single digit but 9 defense is a lot. Ward only starts out with 10, Clifford with 11. She has the same defense as Alvina with 1 more HP.
And unlike them ("them" being both Clerics and Heavy Knights, really), she has a much better movement type, both mounted and dismounted. Light Cavalry while mounted, Light Infantry while dismounted. There are no units in those categories who even begin to approach her meaty stats. Even the mighty Sherpa only has 6 defense.
As a side note, no other Light Cavalry in the game becomes Light Infantry when dismounted. Sherlock, Adel and Leon all become regular Infantry. No moving 2 tiles in forests for them. Czene becomes of course a Thief when dismounted, but it's not like she is capable of real combat.
Also unlike any other cavalry unit in the game (except Czene again), she can still use Braces. All the good traits of Clerics, Heavy Cavalry, Light Cavalry and Light Infantry combined into one unit. And that's not even mentioning any of her skills, one of them essentially being Fire Emblem style doubling.
Also worth noting that Pursuit also means that she can still deal a counter attack if she gets hit. So she basically has Counter too. Just without the weakness of potentially eating two hits if your counter misses.
I think you are underselling Camouflage. I mean, this map is mostly forest. It's pretty handy here. Not to mention it's on a unit who already has high natural avoid.
There is also still that whole "double terrain avoid when attacked at 2 range" thing, which further amplifies Lurk. It helps that as Light Infantry, she can move pretty well through forests.
Flourish comes pretty late to gain much use out of it, but it's worth mentioning just how well it synergiezes with Pursuit. Pursuit means you get double the chance of causing injury. And at this point in the game, you have weapons that multiply even those odds. Like, take an Estoc and you got 4 chances to land that 33% chance of injury. Much better then Arthur having to settle for just one hit for most of the game.
On a side note, magic damages is not halved by Flourish. Since you need to at least be able to damage an opponent for a chance at injury, that's handy to keep in mind.
Self-heal is also nice on a unit like her. Since unlike other healers, since she is an excellent fighter she doesn't necessarily need to move away from the guys who just hurt her. So the unable to move penalty isn't always a huge hindrance.
Also, just like Faramir she has the hidden Robust skill.
So yeah, this would be a very different game if Paramythis was around for more of it.

Yeah... Stealthing this mission is kinda impossible with all these guys.

You didn't show their skill list, but besides Watchful they also have Scotopic. That increased vision is the reason Larentia was able to get targeted by Wormwood a few pics later.

3 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said:

Wormwood is nasty. It might be unable to kill, but it can still cripple. Fortunately while he is covered by Rasputin's Berserk range, you can reveal him while standout outside of Berserk, and then simply take him down with Hit & Run by Cavalry. Although you might want to use something like the Swift Spear or the Gram to take him down, still the other priests will heal him.
Larentia and Reese are your best bets for this because those Assassins all spawn from the top before long. They can't reach Larentia and Reese is immune to crits, but everyone else is at a great risk if they try this.

What!? Thaddy was hidden, and he had no weapons equipped! How come the thief was able to attack him!? I thought this couldn't happen!

Yeah. My guess was wrong about how Hide works in these situations.
I always lured in the Scout in Thaddy's join map that way, but I suppose the reason he won't attack Thaddy if he crashes into him is because he has a bow equipped, and they are 1-2 range weapons, but the combat is initiated at 0 range whether Thaddy is armed or not.

I was actually able to take advantage of this when killing the Wyrmspeaker quickly. Since he is hidden and unarmed, I simply had Sylvis run into him with Brave Crossbow + Sniper Arrows.
Which was a perfect kill, btw, so maybe that's the intended way to go for that Wyrm mass confusion. Still not very practical since Sylvis would need a Vanish Stone to scale the cliffs, and a second Vanish Stone to reach another hiding spot. Still, considering that the bounty target has a Vanish Stone he never uses and the Wyrmspeaker always drops one, that might still be the intentional approach.

A lot of these kinds of characters tend to show themselves as part of a system that built them up to be so monstrous. Course you could argue about fucks never being given, but I wouldn't be so sure. The church's perception in Raze isn't so utterly evil, I would think at least most people aren't on board with this to the same degree or are the type to shrug and say But the Witch as enough of a justification.

I feel like I'm stumbling onto church being evil territory in a more human dimension, pretty close to some people's lived realities.

Oh no.

Oh, no.

Also that funny thing is going to cause a scene isn't it?

This is the guy. Guys like these will pop up all over the map, and we'll have to be ready to intercept them. They'll move towards the boss's area, without stopping to attack, while their bodyguards (each captor comes with two) will bring the fight to us. If even just one of these captors makes it to their destination, it's all over. I can't spend ten turns making sure there's no assassins, because then the map ends! But if I don't do that, I risk dying! So what do we do? Easy: We... We pray. We pray that my tactics won't fail us once again.

...This is going to be a disaster. Argh... Fuck it, let's go!

So it's going to be a frantic map isn't it.

Also, the sacrifices in unit's pockets would be ridiculous in a game where horses aren't already doing that. (Imagine if the sacrifices could be used to heal other units. I mean that'd be dumb here if it worked like Sacrifice, but you know what I'm going for.)

New unit?

Please tell me she's still useable the rest of the game.

Pursuit on 11 AS foes, versatility, I don't see where it shows she can use maces but that doesn't matter with this small but mighty kit.

Yumil just managed to slip away because they can't count past 4 because death.

Also interesting the sacrifice doesn't require virgins, considering this kind of stuff usually calls for it. Raze is progressive?

So, I feel like I have to say what I expected of this map, because I said I'd have an idea of this map:

Spoiler

I expected an indoor map with a ton of enemies and the clerics tied up in different places to save, not the alter looking more like Weathertop.

I suspected certain units in particular would be having to go to clerics, which would alter your strategy as you would have a timer similar to this one. I also thought Saphira would be one of them tied up in this.

I was thinking fog of war, but the woods was another frustrating touch.

I also expected Chaos. Guess who was wrong so far?

 I am feeling this turnover.

TWEWY got a sequel with a protagonist who wears a face mask all the time. Covid's getting into video games.

Stupid thing inside this spoiler.

"Lol Volcens" is my favorite part of Berwick history.

I can imagine the historians literally entitling the volume on his reign and it's errors as such.

Semdallion's story purpose is to reiterate how even the Razites hate Chaos. To wit:

FAYE: ...Chaos! I've found you!
SEMDALLION: What?! How dare you! Don't lump me in with him!
FAYE: You're... not him?
SEMDALLION: ...Guess it doesn't matter now. Whoever you are, you'll be dead soon enough.

Second, fun fact, there are remnants in the game files from when the four hostages in this chapter were Luciana, Maria, Yumil, and Quescria--but under the old names of "Etoile," "Janet," "Sophia," and "Resfina." Of particular interest is "Resfina," which is almost the same as "Resfinne," the beta name of TRS's Renee as found in the Emblem Saga demo.

Well, the problem with that second explanation is that by itself there is no harm to at least try.

Like I said, I personally feel the first one makes more sense, considering what happens.

She's just really, really, really lucky. The pretty lights weren't divine intervention, but rather a UFO trying to abduct her. However, they abducted the flames instead. Then all the orbs of the Razites collectively short-circuited due to the moist atmosphere. There you go, explained.

Awesome. Thanks for this. It helps a lot to have events laid out like that.

I agree.

Anyway, onto the update.

Remember when Vanmillion mused in front of Eleanor about how much help it would be if he had capable subordinates like Reese has, and Eleanor just responded with ellipses? Guess she took that as an insult and that#s why we never saw her again.

It would not surprise me, given he's best buddies with Vester and the sociopath.

Probably. We know the people of Lazberia at least heard about him. And it's probably not a coincidence that Esteban and Arina look so much like Holmes and Katri.

...Ohh, right... I noticed Esteban (I mean, be pretty hard not to), but I hadn't realized Arina, too, looks a ton like Katri. Yeah, it really is most likely intentional! Goddamnit, Holmes!

I guess he is here just to scare the crap out of you because at first glance it looks like you are up against Chaos. ...and because at second glance you realize Chaos clones are going to be a thing now. Never actually checked if he has dialog, come to think of it.

I actually managed to beat him once. I'm pretty sure he does have dialogue.

Well, it can be beaten if you have a shield that shines a bit and vaporizes every earth dragon on the map.

You wanna talk about laughable? Have you ever looked in a mirror? Placed in a circle like this, you guys look like the world's crappiest birthday cake.

They should've placed Saphira on top and Rasputin to the side. As it is, she kinda breaks the fancy formation.

Love how it's not even treated like a twist or anything. You can just check her out on the battle prep screen. Too bad poor Reese is still out of the loop.

Reese is out of the loop about many things. Bastard couldn't see through a lie to save his life.

I just want to say that I love how much you've written on Paramythis alone.

Of course, she deserves it. She's just wonderful. The game's proper Gotoh ain't got shit on this beauty of a unit.

You didn't show their skill list, but besides Watchful they also have Scotopic. That increased vision is the reason Larentia was able to get targeted by Wormwood a few pics later.

Yeah, of course. I forgot.

Well, we'll see how I handle myself, won't we? It's a bit too late for advice, anyway. I always play the entire map in one sitting, even when I split the updates in two because they're too long.

And that's just the Thief Dagger guy. The other one's have Main Gauches, so they have a chance to completely negate damage with Parry too.

On the other hand, those stand a high chance of dealing no damage at all.

This guy is such a troll move.

Very.

Shouldn't you have gotten a guaranteed Blood Knife drop in the Prisoner escape sidequest in chapter 5?

I somehow missed him. I'm not entirely sure how, but I missed him.

Funny thing is, I don't think they actually can Sleep you. Because I've literally never seen them do it. Even after stealing their Airblade Orbs, they wouldn't do it.

Huh. Guess the orb's just there to scare you.

Damnit... Well, at least it never cost Thaddy his life or anything.

Maybe it was intended as a last resort in case Perceval, Aegina and Enid aren't available.

Miss with a 97% hit. That's probably the exact kind of situation Kaga had in mind when deciding the Talisman would grant a 17% increase in hit rather then a nice round 20%.

Hmph...

Yeah, they all come from the North.
Not that Reese has anything to worry about crits.

Woo.

Surprised you didn't give her a more accurate sword. The Holy Sword she starts with only has 50% accuracy. Paramethys is awesome and all, but her Sword rank could most certainly be better.

I didn't think to do it. She's spent more time healing than fighting, anyways. Owen's not going anywhere fast, so it's up to her to do most of the stafforbbotting for this map.

Guy's probably just trying to survive Urbanus' purge. Shame it won't save him.

Heh...

This being one of the worst ever?

Seriously the clown would be an improvement.

There's already a clown, though. A clown named Rasputin.

We don't get a sense beyond being errand boy to Ashnard in PoR no.

Which is kinda why I prefer RD. We learn that was part of the facade for one.

Both of his appearances have their perks. But RD kinda did him dirty with that shitty-ass, rushed send-off he got.

He's freely teleporting with it.

For some reason. Is the warp powder even explained?

I mean, Ike did have Neph Neph. And as we all know, Neph Neph mothafucka.

Neph Neph, yes. She was... not good.

Also an Ilyana who I straight up capped all her stats except Luck. By tier 2. I can't really check how far off I might have been by endgame but this was in the pitfall map.

Oh wow. That's rather impressive, actually.

Then again I like most of the player cast at least alright enough.

Frankly, I have a problem with the laguz as units. I know, I know, "haha Ruben is from Begnion". Well, can you blame me? They're horrible units! Cumbersome to use, most of them are bad, can't be trained for shit, the royals are no fun to use (except Naesala because his theme kicks all sorts of butt)... Goodness!

Yep. I did a wrong, imagine if Sienna was as good as Sierra.

Imagine if Sienna could just warp behind Volcyboy and cast nosferatu on him. That'd be amazing.

Still busted if she gets some stat boosters. It's not the fun he apologised for.

Sylpheed also exists.

Oh yeah, Sierra's embarrassingly overpowered. But she's so in a fun way, which is more than the likes of Boredom-Given-Form Seth can say.

And unlike Pokemon you have more accessible options in Restore staves.

Hell Berwick has the salts.

Ah, there's nothing in Pokemon? Hah, I knew I disliked that series for a reason.

Not really, Douglas is more clean with his facial hair.

True. Ward looks like a drunk Douglas. Which is fitting, seeing how he's a recognized liquor connoisseur.

Ah subverting the whole thing, poor Cutiwoute (or whatever he calls it).

You can't even be bothered to spell her name correctly. What a sad, sad fate for the good pet.

And that pun, good grief he's already dead man.

Well, sure, but there's no harm in killing him again, is there?

Social Distancing is barely a polite suggestion to him (Not so much in a touchy feely way, but he can be very overbearring), combined with some other traits I'd rather not say for fear of identification :P.

It's a difficult relationship I have and I'm stuck with it while I'm still at home. Again. This lockdown pretty much cemented it.

Oof... Sorry, I didn't mean to pry.

2020 looked promising beforehand. Needless to say I am not one of those happy with the year.

I mean, is there really anyone who's happy with 2020?

Getting him back's even sadder than being someone named Dissad.

The enemy didn't even bother to finish him, how would that look to them?

Very bad. But I doubt it was anything too unexpected, given how he was stationed in a friggin' volcano for no reason.

Dissad's theme

Dis a sad theme indeed.

Somehow I suspect this was not his invention.

A lot of these kinds of characters tend to show themselves as part of a system that built them up to be so monstrous. Spells like that getting to be so prominent as fast as they did wouldn't be an easy task, even if the elites of the Church of Raze were for them now if they didn't have the precedent I feel like they wouldn't be so quick to go for them.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if that was exactly what Kaga wanted to imply.

That's exactly the point,

I just get so annoyed;

How you're so happy all the time

(Wi-ith Berwick Saga)

I need something with less creeper to-oo,

(do-do do do da dodo)

Something with a little third di-mension.

(The song bit just came to mind as I read this, it's not a rant I swear)

You just wanted an excuse to go do do do do do da dodo.

Not that I can blame you. That battle theme kicks ass.

Even aside from the others, convenient as it is that you've met all of them,

...And? What else?

Crying Clapping GIFs | Tenor

Here we are, a dirge to your misery, bravo sir.

Thank you, thank you.

(I also hate the part of my trying to suggest line changes, you're risking changing intent damm you)

Hwahahahaha... Well, don't worry about it. It came out of nowhere, anyway.

Is the next one of these going to be Mario Tennis? Or Strikers?

Strikers would be fun. I love Strikers. Spent too long trying to beat the Strikers cup with a subpar team. Ended up having to cheese it with the hammer bro's special move. It was great.

Perceval.avi

Oh no.

Oh, no.

Yes.

Also that funny thing is going to cause a scene isn't it?

Oh, no no, the thing with Thaddy is entirely gameplay-related.

So it's going to be a frantic map isn't it.

Yup.

Also, the sacrifices in unit's pockets would be ridiculous in a game where horses aren't already doing that. (Imagine if the sacrifices could be used to heal other units. I mean that'd be dumb here if it worked like Sacrifice, but you know what I'm going for.)

To be fair, the sacrifices are shown on the captor's world sprite. It's clear they're just dragging 'em around.

This guy's beard wouldn't have food in it, 2/10 cosplay see me after class.

Hnhlhojb oBut she's not awoken yet. Why don't we stab her-

Abeiuzpp oI'll stab you in a second, we follow procedure.

Hnhlhojb oBut sir, how exactly could she survive a knife to the throat--

Abeiuzpp oMUH RITUAL, ALFONS.

What a riveting moment this is, I cannot believe my utter astonishment at the shocking turn of events. /s

It truly is shocking.

And at least she's got enough sense to know Volcens would be no help)

Come now. Don't you remember? The whole reason she didn't want to go to Navaron is that she was afraid of Volcyboy.

Please tell me she's still useable the rest of the game.

Remember how I hired Saphira a couple times for no apparent reason?

Saphira, for some reason, requires 1 happiness to join permanently, according to Serenes. Paramythis joins with her. So... yeah. Turns out Saphira wasn't the reason I wanted to recruit Saphira.

Pursuit on 11 AS foes, versatility, I don't see where it shows she can use maces but that doesn't matter with this small but mighty kit.

She's all sorts of awesome.

Jeez this is stupid.

(Are we sure he's not the apostle? Or has met them?)

Now that would be a real plottwist. The Apostle was a random thief on Raze's side.

e3d.jpg

My thoughts exactly.

+3 to triple shot!

Good on Sherlock.

Very good.

And I thought my bad management of Restores the first time I played Thracia was bad.

And here it's just..... so many sleepers and less ways to deal with them.

Well, to be fair, they are placed so that it's not difficult to kill 'em. It's just another reason you have to rush forward and get assassinated.

Shit Range.

That is truly the best way to put it.

Too much status.

Preach.

Not too much of a sting, but he'll feel like an idiot for taking that one.

Quite.

And why are there armours here too? Has Raze got this much of an army set down this close? Berwick truly is fucked.

They're powerful, like Derrick. But not as much as Derrick.

So I met my little sister's new boyfriend last night. His name is Luigi. - GIF on Imgur

Shinetherin would be here to help, but for a certain someone, so Sinonpuff'll have to do.

What would be Gryffindor here?

Pretty blessed in fairness with Berwick.

And don't lie, you'll still regret it.

No, I don't think I will. The conclusion to his arc is hilarious.

You've come to see that Sherlock was the actual godly archer, turns out Holmes and Katri's descendant was him all along.

Yeah, ignore Esteban and Arina standing overthere.

...To be honest, though. His whole niche is that he shoots multiple times, he's become godly after promoting, and he's blond. I'd say it's more likely that he's Leonie's descendant instead.

Good job Maria, I guess it'd slow him down, not a bad idea.

Ok wow, fuck this guy.

It was a good idea, to her credit. But it didn't work.

And he really thinks that she's planning on doing that to stop him from using her? WOW.

In fairness, if she dies before they get to the altar, they can't sacrifice her and thus they can't kill Saphira. It's definitely worth considering.

Goodbye horse,

He's dying over you.

So Ward just became useless.

Kinda.

Not like it'd matter to him.

That gif. That gif is fucked up. But that gif is also great.

This is just not his day, getting a bloodthirsty Reese on his case.

Really, anyone who gets Reese on their case is not having a good day.

Daisy GIFs | Tenor

Man imagine having to escort them too.

Definitely nice that they all learned Return offscreen.

Rubenio was recorded as whooping for joy so loudly it registered on seismometers in Samarkand.

Ahahahaha... Nah.

Well, yes, but you got the timing wrong. That was when Paramythis dunked on the assassin. The Sylvis level was only registered on Moscow.

At least levels are good here so far.

It's something.

You are going to lose him someday from keeping at this due to sheer joy at being able to.

Don't even DARE to suggest such a thing.

Turns out Waluigi tried to get a cameo outside Nintendo but this was the only role he could get.

Pfffft...

I feel like this one might as well just have the robe falling down as you too his head clean off, is Adel a psycho?

Adel? Nah. He's a good man. But the reality of war is that, sometimes, you just happen to take someone's face off. He'll have to live with it.

If anything, the psycho here is me. I giggle like a child in Christmas every time he eviscerates someone with a lance.

Thank goodness we could save her. She's got the most personality out of all the clerics in Navaron! Don't forget, she managed to incite some emotion out of Reese with her stew. Reese. Of all people. We cannot afford to lose her.

Perceval and missing, name a more iconic duo this LP.

I wish I could, believe me.

Toad Running GIF - Toad Running Terrified - Discover & Share GIFs

Yes, that is an accurate representation of me when that happened.

The RNG just gave you a huge gimmie.

Did Clifford die for this?

I... I don't fucking know. All I know is that I am happy.

Berwick, I am laughing, this is amazing but this move was still bullshit.

Very. Very. Very...!

I see Larentia has learned something of stealth.

Imagine if you could use clouds to hide as flying units.

Or if Fog could move in a battle, leading to different areas being foggy throughout.

This feels almost as genius an idea as the one I had for future pokemon titles and that's only because I think the latter idea would make so much money.

That would be fun. Go apply for a job at IntSys.

56% Hit.

Of course it did.

Also why complain about the extra arrows, more dakka never hurt.

But... He only had 3 raijin arrows! It was physically impossible!

It honestly looks like it hit.

That it does. But at least it's not like, say, Eliwood's promoted dodge animations. His horse moves one pixel, and that suffices apparently.

Hnhlhojb oHOW DID I MISS? SHE BLEW IN THE BREEZE‽

Your wind is weak, garbage man.

That is some shining hope right there.

Not for him mind.

He has bigger things to worry about.

That is some shining hope right there.

What happened to the text?

Anyway, yes. He's quite blessed.

I mean, would she autodeploy after rescuing her?

Depends. You'll see what I mean.

Maybe she'll reveal she has a secret power that she could only use once and clean house.

Maybe she'll tell them they've got the wrong person as a trick.

Maybe she'll reveal it was her all along and just witch her way out of it, the luck levels were to throw you off the scent.

Maybe she'll have an insta promotion at the shrine? Maybe? Please?

All good guesses, but I'm pretty sure the reality is that she'll just die and that's it.

Yumil just managed to slip away because they can't count past 4 because death.

Hahahahah... Good theory.

Also interesting the sacrifice doesn't require virgins,

Izerna's a virgin, and Luciana might be too. Maria, though... We know she has a lover.

considering this kind of stuff usually calls for it. Raze is progressive?

I... I don't think you can call Raze "progressive" when they're in the middle of murdering women.

So, I feel like I have to say what I expected of this map, because I said I'd have an idea of this map:

You did get a few things right. Also, we did kinda get Chaos, didn't we? Splenda Chaos, but hey.

 I am feeling this turnover.

TWEWY got a sequel with a protagonist who wears a face mask all the time. Covid's getting into video games.

What's TWEWY?

...Oh, it's a series I've never heard about. Cool.

Stupid thing inside this spoiler.

Turns out Ike hates the spotlight so much, he left for somewhere Goddesses wouldn't bless him and him alone... making him the only one who could beat a final boss. He hated being treated like a Mary Sue, so he decided to go the "Navarre" fades into obscurity route instead.

Good on him for that, at least.

I also remember the time I missed my bed. Stupid hotel room without enough beds. I HAD TO SLEEP IN A DAMN CHAIR FOR A WEEK. One of those ones that fold out like you see by a pool.

Jikes... What kind of shitty hotel was that?

I can imagine the historians literally entitling the volume on his reign and it's errors as such.

Ahahahahahahaha...

I don't know. I was thinking about insane plans I could perhaps do to make a certain earth dragon's death memorable. I might need to spend them elsewise if they're to work.

I was merely joking. Please don't do as I said. Don't ruin your run like that.

I mean, a healer's a healer.

True enough.

That'd be redundant. Volcyboy is already a boob.

Hah!

This was my way of pointing out I'd seen about Vester's method of courting women, and went back to note I'm no longer sure I approve his survival.

Ahhh. I understand now.

Well... I mean, according to Tianna, he's... not a bad guy, just an idiot?

I have to assume so, because it's either that or I'm secretly some sort of demon-spawn with barbed fingers. But that's ridiculous right?

...Uhhh... Yes, ridiculous... I mean, we know the "the" in The Roger The Paladin doesn't stand for anything.

Oh come on, you never finished the Super Mario 64 DS LP... and you're starting a new one. No shame.

I truly am the worst LPer ever.

Man I was never good at Mario Golf either. I mean I haven't tried it since 2001 (I had the one on the 64)... but I was bad at it.

As a matter of fact, I was... legit impressed with myself. I damn near scored an albatross, ruining the whole gag. Not gonna lie, it hurt to sabotage myself for the sake of the joke.

I'd bet on it being the end of his curse. But that's pretty obvious given the circumstances. Also his reason to join you permanently.

That's going to happen, but... In due time. What I spoke of is a different kind of surprise.

And I used to be annoyed when thieves stole a vulnerary in the GBA days.

Pffft...

Shame you can't pass it off as a divine brace to Erzie. But I suppose a collector has to know how to spot a forgery.

Erzie is too well-versed in the act of collecting to fall for such cheap tricks.

Imagine being so dumb you expect the sacrifice to just walk to the altar under their own power. Did Disaad plan this ritual too? Or are all the garbage bags like this?

I mean, we do know that Disaad is alive.

Not good? It's terrible. These people have no regard for animal lives.

I agree. Damnable bastards...

I'd call PETA, if they weren't known for being gigantic hypocrites who kill more animals than they save.
Besides they'd probably just try and get the game banned.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--

Erzheimer is going to be a happy man for a while, until it dawns on him with his collection complete the thrill of new acquisitions is gone... until he finds something else to collect.

This is Erzheimer we're talking about. He'll find something.

Huh. Guess the "South will rise again" saying wasn't just hot air. It just happened to be the wrong continent people were looking at. Come to think of it, Zofia is in the south of Valentia too. Is Kaga trying to tell us something?

Kaga is Texan confirmed.

I mean, he got a hit in. That's more than a few people can say after dealing with Reese.

True enough.

I mean... is it failing if he still hit an enemy? One he was more likely to miss at that. Looks like a kind of consolation prize at the least to me. Then again, either way... it was a Misstake.

Heh... Yes, a misstake. Pretty damn frustrating one too!

Amazing he can talk with his entire face blown  out the back of his head.

He's a magician. Ignore the fact that he can't use magic.

Oh... it's just Maria doing some ventriloquism practice. Never-mind.

...Or that. Yeah, she was just feeling like messing around a bit, now that she's no longer in danger of death.

You might even say it's a one-derful thing.

Hah! Good one.

I can't work out what's worse. My immune system or Perceval's aim.

I would hope it's Perceval's aim. Because he can't aim for shit.

Well you wouldn't be lying if you said you "got lucky" with her.

No, I would not. It's people's fault if they misinterpret my words!

WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY GF?!?!?

Your GF treats me like shit, can you blame me for being happy about this outcome?

I have a hard time deciding whether Sherlock's redemption arc or Adel's promotion is the biggest twist on the LP. On one hand, Adel was pretty damn good through the early to mid-game... while Sherlock started off overshadowed by Sylvis. But on the other, Adel's promotion took longer and was probably more unlikely.

Don't forget the fact that they're both the sole survivors of the initial team. Tied for the longest surviving units, too. That's quite impressive in and of itself.

Guess they missed him when they were culling everyone. Either that, or he was too cowardly to stand up and possibly be killed and decided to just go with the flow... for now.

Both fair guesses.

Ohhh he has a conversation with Faye? Well, damn, that's really cool! I went ahead and recorded it for the bonus at the end of the update.

I like how one of them is literally called Star. Wouldn't surprise me if the Resfina thing was meant to be another connection, like Esteban and Arina.

@Saint Rubenio knows exactly why I'm pointing out this comment.

Heh... Do I ever.

Sun God's Wrath:

Spoiler
1yo3lntv o

Last time, Ruby set up an injured priest for Perceval to cripple. Today, we carry the plan through.

0w8i6xt3 o

As intended.

Qphyci8z o

Oh boy, I wonder how that's going to end.

Albefaa5 oO55q2hch o

Neutral ending.

Couiegld o

Ooohhhh, shit...!

Ycz5s9op o

Hoo! That could've been bad... If Perceval gets crippled, he cannot do his recruitment event! Well... It wouldn't have been the end of the world. We do have a panacea. But still.

Ksf06vtc oHx3imyz4 o

Hwahahahahahahahahah! Another injury? Another capture! Man, Percy's on fire today! Well, technically tonight, since the map takes place at night and all.

E0odzuwq o

Kkkwwwaaaaaaahhhh...! Stop ganging up on the poor guy, damnit!

Tjbnumtl o

Blistering barnacles, really?

Bf8hwjln o

Okay, okay. First, Sylvis, you capture this priest.

Xbnf4fbi oDgmrsnwr oMlstvoiz o

Sleep and airblade exist. The important thing is that we've got our replacement for the divine brace!

Yuv2z6ky o

Ehh... Could be better, Syl, not gonna lie.

7nwwxc0h oYojj6m9c o

This isn't the time to be wincing in pain, Perceval.

Uirp25ss oEbplpbsq o

You too, Adel.

Edlqvz00 o

Cool.

Erou0bor oDlj0qx5q oQbdjxzos o

It'd be quite handy if this guy was crippled by this.

Wpdmwnmu o

No dice. Larentia is as relunctant to being useful as ever.

Ie5eny7m o

Let's look ahead, then. Hmmm... Nothing nasty between us and Izerna, huh...

Xde7xszz o

The next step is to distract this knight. He cannot go after Percy.

Oan1cnmw oZdp9ufge o

Not bad, could be worse. Even if you didn't crit.

Aahu07ki o

Reese's almost made it back to the team. He's heavier than Paramythis, so he couldn't get here quite so fast.

Vojxuwyk o

Bwahah! One of the captor's bodyguards blocked him! He couldn't move as far because of it. That's what you call a lack of coordination. Tsk, tsk, Raze.

Fuzpipn9 o

Looking good. Now...

Nob6jbue o

The upper knight is angry at Faye. The lower one will cease to be an issue in about five seconds.

Ab0eonee oD1bn9eaa o

Good, and from there... Perceval should be able to do something funny next turn. You will see.

L5vtkk06 o7exbdwuh o220elaqo oT88xurkw o

Awww, no damage? That's rare, from Faye. But I suppose you can only get lucky with the shield RNG so many times. We've probably used up our luck for the rest of the game on that one assassin that Paramythis humilliated, anyway.

Njqeuezu oMprfwhl7 o

Pah. You deserve to suffer, scum. Save the dodges for someone who deserves them.

Dkzeqh0o o

Well then, capture nº 2! What spoils shall we gain from this?

Vitpacrr oGtcpujj2 o

Nothing good.

Knajgtym o

Level 1 of 2 for fortify.

Xo5zryae o

Hwahahahahahahahahah... This woman, man. I think she deserves a church more than Saphira...!

Qmtzbwb8 oEn7o9zjg o

Oh look, another idiot with sleep. Who hasn't used it. Again. Seriously, what do these guys have sleep for? Just to scare the player, is that it?

Hmon33oe oAi24ujc6 o

Well, regardless. He's in the perfect position. You see, Larentia is keeping the captor from moving as far as he could, once again. Pretty sure Perceval would be able to catch him still, but best be safe than sorry.

Bfg7viji oFirq5t0i o

You! Come after Sherlock!

Qjobpkum oAgy3eqpt o

As for you... Heheheh... Can you guess what's about to happen to you?

Rvx69inl o

Ahahahahahahaha! I love it! I absolutely love it!

L2tj9uv5 o

Faye, charge forth.

Izyugbci o

The stage is set. Soon--

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGHHH! I SAW YOU! I SAW YOU, YOU MOTHERFUCKER!

Dhllkrvw o

COCK! COCKSUCKING DICK, I CAN'T LET YOU TAKE ANOTHER STEP, OR ELSE...!

Orzqyqws o

It's time for me to do something that may baffle some of you: Owen is going to run back to the starting point, as far from the team as he is able. The reason will be revealed in due time.

Fyo08v2p o

The gambit worked! Captor's standing right there in the open, for Perceval to take on.

6wjwczsj o

No time for that now, however. We must disintegrate this bastard before he does the same to us.

Yr3wtufs o

Boom, and you're dead!

Q4msa91s oRfnpnxo4 o

Shoot, that's kinda terrible... But I guess they can't all be godly, can they?

Y1mja8vo o

Hurrah, moneys!

4ouuplbu oYr4l2mjy o

Meh. I can't say I care. As long as she's in no danger of dying, I'm okay with her bleeding a bit.

Tmzudker oEadj2vci o

Sigh all right, all right, I won't risk the only flier in the game. Hmph...

Ixr4u6r0 o

Bitch, are you serious!?

Hwh5hbye o

...Wha... The shield nullified the magic? How's that work, exactly? I get nullifying stuff like berserk, sleep and the like, maybe even Death or the nosferatu snake, but... How do you "nullify" a bunch of meteors flying into your face?

Sbrcy1gr o

Well, regardless. That might seem like a bit of a crapshoot. Certainly not worth leaving Percy stranded in the middle of all those enemies. Well, y'see, there is no need to worry.

4jr7nuy9 o

Because if the requirements to recruit Perceval are fulfilled, upon attacking Izerna's captor, this happens.

Letda3hu o

Gdjdp7fi oHm? Who are you, boy?

Lgjkwhcy oI should ask you the same question! You're not the same guy from the overworld! In fact... Yeah, you're Theodore but with a black hood! Then again, this guy didn't look like Theodore either back when he was supposed to be Theodore, so... Meh. Let's just accept this and move on.

Aofpvug6 oI'll make you a deal! Her life for mine!

Rkdghqju oVowxux00 o

Per--Pfffffft! Pe... P-Perceval, my guy, that's... That's not how you perform a heroic sacrifice. You're... You're supposed to wait for the guy to refuse to trade her over before you blast him with thunder. Or, y'know, wait for the hostage to not be right next to him!

Gdjdp7fi oGah...! You've made a... terrible mistake, mage...

Aofpvug6 oHand over the Sister, and I'll spare your life.

Gdjdp7fi oI can't allow that... The only choice is death!

Hjthaodq o

Perceval, what in the world are you doing?!

H6wnl0er o

Bxj06ghq oMh0cznsk o

V7mrodtj o

Bwkpqfym o

Well, that guy's dead, at any rate...

Ddhhu3vu oP-Perceval!

X5mjjayv o

J0ispjwc o

Percy's not doing so hot either, though!

Yzialp6b o

Mkp80iza o

Suddenly, Ward comes out of nowhere! I'd like to point out that he was really far from the two of them. At least two turns worth of movement, especially without a horse.

F9nyihfc o

D1x5n9rb o

Hqumihbg o

As a result of that, both Izerna and Perceval have disappeared from the map. To compensate, Ward has warped to where Perceval was previously standing, and he hasn't used up his turn. I do hope Perceval'll recover all right... Bah, I'm sure he'll be fine. He'll miss the light and walk back to life instead.

Svcw6nqa o

I'm afraid there is no time to worry about good ol' Missival right now. We've more fighting to do.

N72do7xy oNdthlrfn o

Ahh, Pursuit. What a lovely skill you are.

Ft9jvfba o

Let's give this a shot. The less thieves running around inconveniencing us, the better.

Wktsko0w oZgwtjapm o

Sonnuva--

Ymjytnov oXs2ccdqr oRs4xtoma o

Gun!

Aezk5rxz o

'Kay then. Guess there's not much to do but deal with these fellows and secure this corner of the map. We'll charge at the enemy from here when the fourth cleric is rescued.

X65gwi7l oFv4ivrwc oIxrtd7hs oW7cu9sng o

One blow is fine.

Lruvwpvv oYz9n6jfr o

Faye--

T6upmxtg oO4l0s1l1 o

Faye finishes. Goodbye, sword. You did some good work.

Awyl58jy oQltv7fk0 o

Adel time. Hehehehehehehe...

Tfiayj7o oLr9ti5gt o

Okay, Sylvis, you know the drill. Let's save some rapid crossbow durability by using the brave crossbow instead.

K3jhtcd4 o

You've got to be kidding me.

Xh0owmap o

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.

Xpbf0agm oG6qldmk7 o

PERISH.

Lj183llt o

Owen continues to venture into the darkness.

S46gppb2 o

Oh look, there's the final cleric.

There... on the... other side of the... map...

...Fork!

Kzna2yym o

Nk53dvgh o

Kwwh6zmc oWhat are you mumbling about? Get a move on!

Xzxwjjvk o......

Vg0i2oa5 oUc7rb5cc o

Better heal Sylvis. Imagine if an assassin came out of the fog and killed her. Hah! I'd die inside.

Xb5arewb o

YOU PIECE OF SHIT, SEE?! HOW MANY DO WE NEED!?

9dly252x o

FUCK OFF!

F7uhvjrh o

Oh, you've got to be joking...

6kaxnvvd oGotugjuh oHktswfyf o

I'd like to point out that knights are taller than Ward. That's hilarious, the poor guy...

Mzgga0lv oH5n1fgzs o

Oh my God you're so annoying...

3dkh4rrl oF94gqryi o

Get outta here!

Yahqv4ia oCzjkaxmp o

Look, a thief. Well, no matter. Larentia has to haul ass north.

Suyx57lr o4kpduval o

Fssss...

Zfocujq4 o

Oh, for the love of God... Sherlock! One point away from one-shotting him!

U5hkaxmh o

If the Rossweisse breaks, I'm fucked.

Tbqoto3u oI8y7liyg oImkxxjzw oAfzbisla o

...Okay, no, Sylvis could've used Aim on him, but... Still. I could've saved some Rossweisse durability, but... Okay, I panicked. All right? Can you blame me? These guys are terrifying!

K8rxlyku o

Defensive Sherlock level? All right, whatever, sure.

Guljbt7x o

More moneys. Why are all these assassins so wealthy?

1ll98rlt oHegia0il o

Heal up, Adel.

Tpvmhihq o

Nice!

Hdqlgpr3 o

And now, move over there so that Ruby can proceed forward more easily. Moving through Paramythis and Adel will allow her two guaranteed hexes. That's not too shabby.

6uvt6nrd o

Except I couldn't resist the temptation to have Adel lance a thing. Oh, well.

Ehtgu1k9 o

Yet another injury? More ransom money would be cool, but without Perceval, it won't be so easy...

Rcskfqhj o

How far can you make it, Ruby?

Ftnptz3x o

Not very.

Qvqkmpq9 o3ki1xbab oLpz9ii0z o

Okay, this might be a waste, but she risks death if she stays crippled. We've lost nobody so far. I would like to keep it that way.

Eczptxlj oCktbujpc o

Well?

V0fcs2lq o

D'oh!

Ja1b5lml o

So?

Nr21kbz0 o

Sheesh... All right then. You're going to die. Congratulations.

...Yeah, I know, that's a terrible shot of the guy's not-crippled self. Mostly because he's not even in it. Believe me, he's not crippled.

Sgrta2lj oRttw0las o

Well, go ahead and die, then.

Ko1pimas o

Buff myrmidon. Go on.

Fqkawht3 o

That's not buff myrmidon...

Z5gwmniy o

Ah! There it is! The dickmove...!

Frhmo7av oDc4jkpee o

In this map, if the requirements to recruit him are fulfilled, Owen transforms at the end of turn 12 instead of turn 20. Not only that, he loses Return at the start of the map. There is no warning for any of this.

It wouldn't even have been that difficult. Just make him say something along the lines of "urgh, the dark influence here is so powerful, I will not be able to last as long, but I cannot leave, I have to see this through". There you go. Now the player knows to be wary because Owen's probably going to turn on them earlier than usual.

Pc04y6ng o

Well, at any rate, there he goes. He can't move through forests well, and with his measly 3 move, he probably won't be able to catch up to us.

Mqsnpppg oFbb2u74g o

With our only remaining veteran healer gone rogue, it's up to Paramythis to pick up the slack. And so she does.

W5stwss8 o

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH 6 CRIT NOOOOOOOOOOOOUUAUAAAAUAARHHGH

Xyzom6pk o

Hwaaaahh... Okay, good. We're alive. Thanks.

Uvt3cmnn oWbdvqoez o

Oh, for the love of God... Stop! My waif-- Sniper!

Ur7bkmct o

Hide! Hide!

3z6xvrs7 o4wn7zszd o

Adel just keeps dodging this guy's winds. 82% is the new 50, apparently.

Xcesquxx oCant97jq o

Again? That guy doesn't learn, does he? Hah! Well, fine by me.

Asc36ihb o

Larentia flies into the fog towards Quescria. Wish her luck. We need it, if she fails we're kinda done for.

Xcngqlsg o

For fuck's sake! A random thief moved next to Sylvis and revealed her!

Lmgesoid oIcb21kr8 oSefy4g4p o

Chip damage on a guy with 8 HP? Sure, why not!

Unuvpkyf o

Oh look. It appears that it is once again Adel time.

1uhvxcf9 o

Hahahahahahahah... This. This is what true power feels like...

Cycmnrnb o

Look, the chip damage was useful! Now Reese can do things!

Qau7pwpt o

Kablooie! W-Whoa, Reese, watch it! You almost yeeted yourself off the horse...

Bmtuhk5a o

Strength, defense, HP...

T7xqgq5m o

Not bad!

Wrdd0gce o

Looks like this area is secured. It'll make for a fine point from which to stage Rasputin's downfall.

Rkphjldv o

D'oh, more knights.

Wv8ux1le o

Run, Sylvis, ru-- damnit, he has watchful so she can't hide.

Ld7brlvl o8ciicoar oRje0cn4v o

For the love of God... Stop killing my horses!

Pmqu9vlc o

Hoo boy.

A0ej4xrf o

Bad idea, pal. Bad idea. That woman is blessed.

Rwepirp0 oJhjvk6qi oO4dxhb3e o

She broke his shield by whacking it with a sword. I love this woman.

8z4orzny o

Larentia's almost to the capt-- ASSASSIN, HELP

Hmh4ezoo o

Anyway.

Klaydfxj o

I think we were wrong all along, Adel is the best waifu in Berwick Saga.

Gkou3thm oLixujvth o

MORE power for the lances? Also, spear points. I'm still happy to see that, accuracy is never a bad thing.

3ibjp4yc o

Okay, so what now.

1mzrz0kz o

Not much, to be honest. Just heal up and wait for Larentia to do her thing.

Jg0p4cwc oFyeplc35 o

Well, we can also advance to the edge of the Shit Zone.

Robwdjbi oIq8rbfj3 o

You know what to do, knight. Go after the archer!

Zf24mzor o

Heh, good luck catching up!

Nmenv1jk o

Motherfucker, he'll be on top of us in two turns... Aaargh! Larentia, hurry up...!

Snxofnpz o

MORE!? NO! STOP!

Pfba9hcz o73zrj7c9 oNdbmqnpg oVqqxrmfc oWo8niwfr o

That was a long fight.

Wf2zdoup o

Turn 15.

0eume8vf oV4nefpxw o

I have no idea why I tried this.

Hqm2gpok o

That will work better.

9u75pae6 o44chgk18 o2kzcz66w o

Nice.

Knujac45 oAnsgvty3 o

Oh, jikes!

Mg1ufzos o

You think you're so smart, huh?

99dkvtg7 o

Well, I'm smarter than you!

1yrjkwd6 oQxklefb0 o

...I... I think.

Gtf9qjgx oUcuadlyh o

Hah! Yeah I am! Fuck yeah!

L2erjqdi o

Neat.

Olaixacn oW19z8nm9 oIameumtv oR2b7eeq1 o

He missed, and then she countered. I didn't do a good job of conveying it.

Z4aha2bk o

'Aight, the time has come. I swear to God, Larentia, if you sabotage us here after critting Alvina that one time...

Hvzpmdv5 o

She's wielding a spear.

Xzymng2d oSjrcxnsu o

I'd like to point out she did not get a crit. Why against Alvina and not these fuckers, Larentia? What is with your aversion to being useful to the army you are in, Larentia? Why are you the worst, Larentia?

Oj7eixhn o

Oh, fucking hell. What's wrong? Don't wanna keep aiming at Adel? It was so productive the last two times!

Crnr0hw1 o8npdyw5l o

In any case, that's one knight down.

Aynzhxew o

I swear all Ruby's done in this map is "worth a shot"s.

3ewyvzyi oPnlyn3fx o

And they never were quite worth, either.

Ybpe7uhh o

And now she runs out of his reach.

Aaabr4mq o

D-D'ohhhh! No, what?!

Zwiu1vok oVffzo9ut o

Undo the enemy's efforts, Faye!

Hehqo6px oAtisyhap oYu8tesii oSt3ol3u3 o

Okay, there goes his shield...

Xxsvzgw5 o

Goodness gracious, Faye! Calm down!

D7ere6uc o

Ward is up next.

Twk8g6gx oPafzpr3s o0pvelsjl oCgm81aoo o

That's the stuff! You don't let the young ones surpass you yet!

Mm4xn4ox o

You know what'd be hilarious? If Ward got a level. We've been building up to this, very slowly, the entire game. Perhaps I should feed him the final boss... But no, I've a better idea for that one.

7vwpguig o

Okay, Larentia. It's time.

F7lahf3k oW03bqkv4 oAcvmzlvj o

N-- NO. NO.

Upxeejqx o

FUCK YOU, BITCH! FUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!

Vcpyb4zg o

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! CAN YOU GO ONE FUCKING MAP WITHOUT PISSING ME OFF, LARENTIA!? IS THAT ASKING FOR TOO MUCH!? SEEING THAT ASSHOLE ZEPHYRUS HAS MADE YOU INTO AN ASSHOLE TOO! WELL, GUESS WHAT - I'M GONNA SHOVE THAT SPEAR UP YOUR ASSHOLE IF YOU DON'T USE IT TO KILL THAT GUY BEFORE THE ASSASSINS REACH US!! LARENTIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--!!

Nwyr5c51 oGu4vdxgn o

Fucking hell, I swear...

Wh0rk492 o

Ohh, that's just the icing on the shit cake. I let Faye remain in the Shit Range because I was expecting Larentia to free Quescria this turn, but of course, it was too much to ask from the traitor cunt.

Ojpr6ovc oHul8rxw2 o

Please heal, everyone.

Hgkerh6c oYfank86s o

Wha... Are you serious? Reese got taken down to 1 HP and he didn't feel like waking up, and yet Faye takes a papercut and that's enough for her? I mean, I'm not complaining, but... Reese, dude!

U08vyvrn o

Oh, no...

Mnppqdp0 o

...A-Again!? AGAIN!? YES! WE DID IT AGAIN! WE DEFIED THE ODDS ONCE MORE! SUCK ON THAT, LARENTIA YOU BITCH!

Abgnooyv o

Oh my G-- Okay, this isn't normal. Something is fishy. Which one of you has been sacrificing children for my sake? Please keep at it. This is great.

Xw4zfeeq oLxshrdtq o

Go boom, now.

Fcxkrbqi oMr40fnvj o

Bad level, Sherlock. Bad level.

Mgslrgd8 o

Freeeeeeeeeeeee money!

Uiqclsmf oIeuhrbub o

Adel, no...

Egeqpi2q o

Okay, no matter.

N6dkijxn o

Larentia, I swear. If you don't do this right now, you stand a good chance to die here. And I won't even mind. So please...

Hukdkc03 oS0gwxsoj o

Finally, jeez! Of course, when she's in danger of getting crippled by wormwood is when she finally starts to do something right. Tch...

Nzzfckvg o

The wrath of God? I am blessed by God! Those assassins utterly failed! I can come up with no other explanation than divine intervention!

Amxipphe oTwgr84ud o

Yeah, very nice. But I still hate your guts.

Hjtbcssf o

Will I be very glad I did, though?

Gxpoigb8 o

Abeiuzpp oWe have to try something... Pile on the firewood! Let Father Raze's flames consume her!

Hnhlhojb oYes, Cardinal!

Gfbfwmkj o

Fnc8dy4g o

Zhajnr5z o

Oh, fuck... Oh, shit... Oh, fiddlesticks!

Uylsq00m o

Oh...?

(I know, the unit placements aren't the same. I had to go back to record the gif, and I couldn't recreate the scene perfectly)

6xijx0cr o

Oho!

(Unit placements don't even match the first gif, I know. I had to go back and re-record this part because the gif was too large and wasn't uploaded. I had a lot of problems with these gifs, all right? Just be glad I recorded them at all, damnit)

Ozjg42z0 o

Hnhlhojb oCardinal, my magic... All of our orbs---it's like they've had their power taken away!

Abeiuzpp oIt's not possible...! Is this... the power of the Witch of Veria?

Dhnwqgtq o

Xzxwjjvk oIt was Her Eminence... The Apostle has awoken.

Meoilxpy o...What did she do?

Xzxwjjvk oShe has sealed all Razite dark magic in the nearby area. Such orbs will no longer function.

Meoilxpy oThen, they're all powerless now? They can't use magic at all?

Xzxwjjvk oCorrect.

Lgjkwhcy o Incorrect. Rasputin has a fire orb that he can still use. He's thoughtful, like that. More on that later.

Xzxwjjvk oBut the Apostle's power is still new and imperfect. I do not know how much longer she will be able to maintain the spell. We must rescue her before it ends.

Meoilxpy oI understand. We'll find Rasputin and save the Apostle from his grasp!

0fi2kdja o

All right! And with that...

Xquwvfo1 o

Saphira has become awesome! Well, kinda. She's no Paramythis still.

Xcnontrv oGbg4qowi o

The important thing is that the Shit Range has been nullified. Charge!

Blj8txow o

No, not you. Us. We're the ones who charge.

Rr6wxavd oXtvlqv91 o

How rude can you be?

Kmztiaaf o

Another injury. How many injuries are we going to sustain in this one map?

Umouewuh oEjbdxorq oQotxt4um o

Oh, fuck this shit. Let's get out of here.

I89fgdap o

Jwwfmt5e oYxykyrnh o

Rasputin is a pretty dang amazing fighter. He has Vantage with 14 AS, Versatile, and he was intelligent enough to pack an anima orb in case his dark magic was silenced. Hellfire packs a huge punch, but, well...

Aohqrtx1 o

It's not this thing. Look at that. Why does it even take experience away from you when most people will just crumble down and die if they're hit by this? What's the point...?

Also, you may've noticed that Rasputin starts with his hellfire orb unequipped. This is the funny thing I was talking about with Thaddy. If you use the forests wisely, you can time Saphira's awakening so that Thaddy is able to steal Rasputin's hellfire without risk. Then he'll be just as helpless as his brethren.

That being said... There's no need for such tricks.

Iy33vy7a o

We've got Sherlock.

Wx4f1h0y o

Funny words, coming from a man who is about to get shot in the head.

Mvkwflhe oL9lorldd oUhgy1qhi o

There we go. That was anticlimatic.

Stcrowuc o

How do you know it's Reese? And-- Heck, how do you even know Reese? He's a complete nobody!

Wazy2qro o

Who's Jacharam... Ah, go home, Rasputin. You're not making any sense.

Kqt5jtes o

Two cardinals down. Two to go. Making good progress.

Rjgp6mx1 oP8ze0e6k o

I mean, who cares at this point? He one-rounds bosses. That's really all I need from him.

Mozwb22a o

Cool, a material.

......

I have beaten chapter 12-1 without casualties.

.......

I hyped it up so much.

I described it as one of the toughest maps in the game.

And then I beat it without losing anyone.

...!

L3zitz31 oL3zitz31 oL3zitz31 oL3zitz31 oL3zitz31 oL3zitz31 o

I am the happiest man in the world.

Yqv43zfn o

Oh boy, a scene! A scene with... music that doesn't really fit, to be honest, but there you go.

Iumor4j1 o

1wdnk6cb oFather Owen...! Don't get drawn into the darkness! I know you can resist it!

1wdnk6cb oMother Veria... Shine thy light of purification upon this poor man...

Cyt2tvmj o

Bzk9dwz0 oNckbbwoh o

I like how they reused the effect of her awakening for this.

Rmrjouv0 o

Khy3yyhn o

Looks like it's working...!

3sxor4g7 o

1wdnk6cb oHas he overcome the curse...?

Pebvkv11 oyOU... YOuuuu...!

Filzsxrz o

Meoilxpy oFather Owen!

Zsb0uebx o

5ko3oeik o

Oh fuck, he died.

Xzxwjjvk oIt's all right, he's only fainted.

9qk5ifz8 o Nah, but... It's funny, since they didn't have kneeling animations for Owen, they just made him fade away.

Xzxwjjvk oHis mind has finally been freed of the curse placed upon it... I pray he will recover soon...

Txzubig9 o Yeeey... Good for you, Owen!

Well, that was... That was...

Wow. That went absurdly well. I cannot believe it! Ahahahahahahahahah! Yes! Yes!! I am a badass!!! Oh my goodness, what a battle! I was brilliant! And... Well I mean, I also got really lucky with those assassins - but still! Damn, I did good this time! No deaths... Hah! Suck on that, Butterman! You don't get to pun this time around! Unless you want to pun Rasputin. Hwahahahahah... Ohhh, man. How satisfying.

Next time, we get some text. I think this chapter transition will not take as long as the last, but it'll include some riveting plottwists still. Fasten your seatbelts, drink some water, get some sleep, and be ready for some more Berwick Saga next time, in this same thread (I mean, where else?)! Buh-bye, fare well, see yoouuu!

First, the game over conditions. If the captors make it to the altar...

T4plrs5b o

Abeiuzpp oPile the wood on the fire! We have a Witch to burn!

Zlonc8lu oO... Goddess Veria...

X0nnlnbk o

7ighjtjr o

You can see her sprite darkening in the flames. That's fucked up.

Here are the lines of all the other clerics, including Yumil.

Xkynbhhs oErec... I'm sorry, my love...

Xzxwjjvk oL-Lord Reese... Save... the Apostle...

Ddhhu3vu oForgive me, Sidhe... I'm sorry... I couldn't find you...

Oamyzsky oY-Your Eminence... Please be safe...

Speaking of Yumil, here's her dialogue. No screenshots because I obviously can't get this easily. I took it from Aethin's files.

Kwwh6zmc oGet a move on! Just a little further, and you'll be with your precious Witch.

Oamyzsky oOh, Goddess...

Kwwh6zmc oGuh I'm dead

Oamyzsky oThank you very much. Now please, save the Apostle!

Not the most riveting dialogue. Next up...

Zgwoc7fw o

Rasputin says this when Saphira's silence spell runs out.

Abeiuzpp oI see... The Witch is still a mere little girl, after all... Then it's time we ended this!

Rasputin actually begins to move at this point. He can be rather scary, if you don't have a Sherlock to one-round him.

These are the regular combat lines of Izerna's captor. Yumil's captor has different ones:

Kwwh6zmc oW-Who are you people?!

Kwwh6zmc oC-Cardinal Rasputin...

Oh look, we've found canon Morgan in Berwick Saga.

0oud4kga o

Lkml5tj9 o

Izerna remains on the map if she's saved by someone other than Perceval. She loses her turn and is left stranded in the middle of all the enemy forces. And, of course, Perceval is not recruited. Not a great idea, all in all.

Alfons and Semdallion's battle dialogue.

Myamdkg3 oWhat?! How dare you! Don't lump me in with him!

Kvbwgecb oYou're... not him?

Myamdkg3 o...Guess it doesn't matter now. Whoever you are, you'll be dead soon enough.

4fh1q0sc o

I like how Semdallion gets offended when Faye mistakes him for Chaos. I mean, it's your own fault for deciding to dress exactly like him.

Reese can speak with Saphira, finding out that he's been deceived for the billionth time.

Xzxwjjvk oYes, this is Her Eminence, Apostle Sanacia Phira Bronte.

1wdnk6cb oI'm sorry for deceiving you for so long, Lord Reese...

Xzxwjjvk oThere will be time to explain all of this afterwards, but for now...

Meoilxpy oYou're right. Eliminating Rasputin comes first. Lady Apostle, please retreat to a safe location for now.

1wdnk6cb oLord Reese...

Brrqt1zi o

Finally, if Saphira dies...

I3rmcwom o

You get a typo. Whoopsie.
