Punished Dayni
Spoiler 8 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: There's already a clown, though. A clown named Rasputin. Is that how he broke in? 9 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Neph Neph, yes. She was... not good. I will direct you to my Tellius log in my sig, there you might get a reappraisal as a unit. As a character.... Dammit she's not got much to go off of sadly. She's concerned about how her accent sounds to others, 8 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Frankly, I have a problem with the laguz as units. I know, I know, "haha Ruben is from Begnion". Well, can you blame me? They're horrible units! Cumbersome to use, most of them are bad, can't be trained for shit, the royals are no fun to use (except Naesala because his theme kicks all sorts of butt)... Goodness! I don't disagree, Laguz got done dirty. Royal Laguz, they are just ridiculous though. Again, I kinda regret using them in the tower by the time Tibarn 1-rounded Levail (I assume to vent his frustrations at Ike taking Zelgius). And then took a 180 when he was a big help in taking on Dheginsea. 9 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Imagine if Sienna could just warp behind Volcyboy and cast nosferatu on him. That'd be amazing. Sienna would still probably do it from the front. With all of Navaron watching. 10 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ah, there's nothing in Pokemon? Hah, I knew I disliked that series for a reason. The only ways are two berries you'd rather not use up if you're not actively growing them all, it turns out Full Heal does it, a thing I did not know for ages and also not that great a thing due to the expense of full heals, the Yellow Flute (you have to grind for these in the one region you can get more than one.) or the random food item of the region that cures statuses (Which is like Full heal, though fair is fair usually cheaper). Point is I'm full of shit and stupid. But it's a weird status that it's unclear you can cure to begin with. 12 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: You just wanted an excuse to go do do do do do da dodo. Not that I can blame you. That battle theme kicks ass. I am not gonna lie, I stretched that as a way to justify linking that bar of the track to that part of the song. It was not part of my initial plan. The song itself is from a comedian which sings about their attempts to be edgy and just being bad at it. 27 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...And? What else? Apologies, that was supposed to be a full stop. 14 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Strikers would be fun. I love Strikers. Spent too long trying to beat the Strikers cup with a subpar team. Ended up having to cheese it with the hammer bro's special move. It was great. So there's tierlists of the teams in it then? 14 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, no no, the thing with Thaddy is entirely gameplay-related. Bah, I didn't mean a cutscene. I meant that doing so would be disastrous and cause a scene worth laughing at. 15 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Come now. Don't you remember? The whole reason she didn't want to go to Navaron is that she was afraid of Volcyboy. I do, but at least she did too. 16 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Remember how I hired Saphira a couple times for no apparent reason? Saphira, for some reason, requires 1 happiness to join permanently, according to Serenes. Paramythis joins with her. So... yeah. Turns out Saphira wasn't the reason I wanted to recruit Saphira. You don't even recruit Saphira to get Saphira, poor her. 16 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Now that would be a real plottwist. The Apostle was a random thief on Raze's side. That might have been neat actually, but no we got Dadslayer instead as the mole on the inside determined to change the world. 17 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well, to be fair, they are placed so that it's not difficult to kill 'em. It's just another reason you have to rush forward and get assassinated. Or get one of your units caught out and then slayed by all the mages. 17 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: What would be Gryffindor here? Highlandor? 18 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yeah, ignore Esteban and Arina standing overthere. ...To be honest, though. His whole niche is that he shoots multiple times, he's become godly after promoting, and he's blond. I'd say it's more likely that he's Leonie's descendant instead. Well, that is true. 19 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Definitely nice that they all learned Return offscreen. Or the rescuers got vanishstones to give them right away. 19 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ahahahaha... Nah. Well, yes, but you got the timing wrong. That was when Paramythis dunked on the assassin. The Sylvis level was only registered on Moscow. No no, you don't understand. The Paramythis dodge then hit was recorded in Vladivostok. 21 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Thank goodness we could save her. She's got the most personality out of all the clerics in Navaron! Don't forget, she managed to incite some emotion out of Reese with her stew. Reese. Of all people. We cannot afford to lose her. That is a stew that could make peace with Raze, you're right! 23 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: But... He only had 3 raijin arrows! It was physically impossible! Huh, maybe one split in half and both halves flew off to the side of the foe. 24 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: What happened to the text? I'm not sure what you meant. I did plan on having a different gif, but changed it after I decided to double down on Mario meming for the update part of the post. 25 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I... I don't think you can call Raze "progressive" when they're in the middle of murdering women. True. It was a question, for obvious reasons ("Don't matter if you've had sex, you're all worth sacrificing to Raze!"). 26 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: You did get a few things right. Also, we did kinda get Chaos, didn't we? Splenda Chaos, but hey. Spelnda Chaos is as accurate to Chaos as Runan is to Leif, I accept no substitutes. 29 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Neutral ending. Smoke monster Faye confirmed. 31 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hwahahahahahahahahah... This woman, man. I think she deserves a church more than Saphira...! So, magic and defence. Good for her. 31 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh look, another idiot with sleep. Who hasn't used it. Again. Seriously, what do these guys have sleep for? Just to scare the player, is that it? 33 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Shoot, that's kinda terrible... But I guess they can't all be godly, can they? Both of them got Strength in their previous levels, don't be too greedy. Kaga literally won't let you. 40 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Per--Pfffffft! Pe... P-Perceval, my guy, that's... That's not how you perform a heroic sacrifice. You're... You're supposed to wait for the guy to refuse to trade her over before you blast him with thunder. Or, y'know, wait for the hostage to not be right next to him! Gah...! You've made a... terrible mistake, mage... Hand over the Sister, and I'll spare your life. Perceval decided he'd aim at Izerna, he knew he'd miss her for sure. 42 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: As a result of that, both Izerna and Perceval have disappeared from the map. To compensate, Ward has warped to where Perceval was previously standing, and he hasn't used up his turn. I do hope Perceval'll recover all right... Bah, I'm sure he'll be fine. He'll miss the light and walk back to life instead. So you lose a unit. In what it already a tough map. Thanks S. Kaga. 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ah! There it is! The dickmove...! 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: In this map, if the requirements to recruit him are fulfilled, Owen transforms at the end of turn 12 instead of turn 20. Not only that, he loses Return at the start of the map. There is no warning for any of this. It wouldn't even have been that difficult. Just make him say something along the lines of "urgh, the dark influence here is so powerful, I will not be able to last as long, but I cannot leave, I have to see this through". There you go. Now the player knows to be wary because Owen's probably going to turn on them earlier than usual. That must so annoying to see happen the first time. In the middle of your troops. He could say "I can't fall back here, I have to push on. Raze damm me if you must.", but sadly no. 42 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH 6 CRIT NOOOOOOOOOOOOUUAUAAAAUAARHHGH And another chance of dying. Oh boy this map. 35 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh look. It appears that it is once again Adel time. 36 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Strength, defense, HP... Not bad! 1/3, could be worse. 37 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: She broke his shield by whacking it with a sword. I love this woman. This wasn't a small shield either. Paramythis is welcome into any game ever. 37 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: MORE power for the lances? Also, spear points. I'm still happy to see that, accuracy is never a bad thing. Adel has realised he's only as relevant as his power now. Also, NOW he bothers to level spear points. 45 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Goodness gracious, Faye! Calm down! I feel like this is the map where she should go even more ham. 45 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: FUCK YOU, BITCH! FUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!! 45 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! CAN YOU GO ONE FUCKING MAP WITHOUT PISSING ME OFF, LARENTIA!? IS THAT ASKING FOR TOO MUCH!? SEEING THAT ASSHOLE ZEPHYRUS HAS MADE YOU INTO AN ASSHOLE TOO! WELL, GUESS WHAT - I'M GONNA SHOVE THAT SPEAR UP YOUR ASSHOLE IF YOU DON'T USE IT TO KILL THAT GUY BEFORE THE ASSASSINS REACH US!! LARENTIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--!! Friendly reminder that it wasn't always like this. Was it you hit by the berserk and not Larentia? 46 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Wha... Are you serious? Reese got taken down to 1 HP and he didn't feel like waking up, and yet Faye takes a papercut and that's enough for her? I mean, I'm not complaining, but... Reese, dude! Faye is always wary of Chaos being anywhere. Reese meanwhile is tired all the time from suppressing his emotions. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...A-Again!? AGAIN!? YES! WE DID IT AGAIN! WE DEFIED THE ODDS ONCE MORE! SUCK ON THAT, LARENTIA YOU BITCH! Oh my G-- Okay, this isn't normal. Something is fishy. Which one of you has been sacrificing children for my sake? Please keep at it. This is great. Not me, but I feel like someone is. Though considering your death count it's not you either. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: The wrath of God? I am blessed by God! Those assassins utterly failed! I can come up with no other explanation than divine intervention! I stand by the theory of blood sacrifices from earlier on in this LP. 48 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh...? (I know, the unit placements aren't the same. I had to go back to record the gif, and I couldn't recreate the scene perfectly) 48 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oho! (Unit placements don't even match the first gif, I know. I had to go back and re-record this part because the gif was too large and wasn't uploaded. I had a lot of problems with these gifs, all right? Just be glad I recorded them at all, damnit) So wait, she actually is the Apostle? I actually thought it'd be your one out west, with Saphira being officially the apostle, seemed like the perfect detail RD kept that you'd be bitching about. 48 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: It was Her Eminence... The Apostle has awoken. Huh. I guess RD did do something different. 49 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: She has sealed all Razite dark magic in the nearby area. Such orbs will no longer function. Then, they're all powerless now? They can't use magic at all? Correct. Well that made things easy. Good job Saphira! 49 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Incorrect. Rasputin has a fire orb that he can still use. He's thoughtful, like that. More on that later. So technically correct. 50 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Saphira has become awesome! Well, kinda. She's no Paramythis still. She removes Dark magic and gives allies Res. GO ON SAPHIRA 51 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: It's not this thing. Look at that. Why does it even take experience away from you when most people will just crumble down and die if they're hit by this? What's the point...? Also, you may've noticed that Rasputin starts with his hellfire orb unequipped. This is the funny thing I was talking about with Thaddy. If you use the forests wisely, you can time Saphira's awakening so that Thaddy is able to steal Rasputin's hellfire without risk. Then he'll be just as helpless as his brethren. Because fuck you that's why. Kaga felt extra dickish, I thought it was a weapon that required you to weigh using it and risk losing stats to balance its quality. But no, Kaga just had to rub it in. As an aside, I kinda wish you went for it. 52 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: That being said... There's no need for such tricks. We've got Sherlock. Target SherLocked on. 52 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: How do you know it's Reese? And-- Heck, how do you even know Reese? He's a complete nobody! 52 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Who's Jacharam... Ah, go home, Rasputin. You're not making any sense. Waitwhat. Reese was being targetted? What is this, is Reese actually going to matter for his own sake? If this works, oh man this could be interesting. And Jacharam? Who's Jac and why's he so haram? 53 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I have beaten chapter 12-1 without casualties. ....... I hyped it up so much. I described it as one of the toughest maps in the game. And then I beat it without losing anyone. ...! I am the happiest man in the world. It's enough for me to ignore the glorious opportunity you didn't take to dunk on all of the Shit Range priests. 54 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh boy, a scene! A scene with... music that doesn't really fit, to be honest, but there you go. Father Owen...! Don't get drawn into the darkness! I know you can resist it! Mother Veria... Shine thy light of purification upon this poor man... I guess it's playing from Saphira's perspective. THE POWER OF VERIA COMPELS YOU 55 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh fuck, he died. Goodbye Owen, you were a healer. 56 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: It's all right, he's only fainted. Nah, but... It's funny, since they didn't have kneeling animations for Owen, they just made him fade away. So like half of Conquest. Kaga did it first! 56 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Wow. That went absurdly well. I cannot believe it! Ahahahahahahahahah! Yes! Yes!! I am a badass!!! Oh my goodness, what a battle! I was brilliant! And... Well I mean, I also got really lucky with those assassins - but still! Damn, I did good this time! No deaths... Hah! Suck on that, Butterman! You don't get to pun this time around! Unless you want to pun Rasputin. Hwahahahahah... Ohhh, man. How satisfying. Next time, we get some text. I think this chapter transition will not take as long as the last, but it'll include some riveting plottwists still. Fasten your seatbelts, drink some water, get some sleep, and be ready for some more Berwick Saga next time, in this same thread (I mean, where else?)! Buh-bye, fare well, see yoouuu! At least this map worked out. Unlike 11-1. You could put the next update in Pengaius's Conquest thread, I dunno, it's a free enough forum. 57 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Forgive me, Sidhe... I'm sorry... I couldn't find you... Who's that? 58 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Izerna remains on the map if she's saved by someone other than Perceval. She loses her turn and is left stranded in the middle of all the enemy forces. And, of course, Perceval is not recruited. Not a great idea, all in all. Why is he not recruited? 58 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: What?! How dare you! Don't lump me in with him! You're... not him? ...Guess it doesn't matter now. Whoever you are, you'll be dead soon enough. Faye sees Chaos around every corner, I don't blame her with how badly it's gone so far. And Chaos is so much of an asshole others are confused for him. At that point just get changed and wear something else, you won't get Urbanus to force Chaos to change. And another thing: 59 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: What?! How dare you! Don't lump me in with him! You're... not him? 59 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Shut up Dismalleon We're getting the restaurants open next week. January is going to be so full of covid-19. ranger016
Spoiler Surprised to see you managed to beat this map so easily, I needed to restart 6/7 times to finally beat it. The assassins were really tough to deal with, and losing Owen and Perceval in the middle of the fight weren't great either. Paramythis and Reese with the shield were the mvp of this map. 11 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: In this map, if the requirements to recruit him are fulfilled, Owen transforms at the end of turn 12 instead of turn 20. I knew this before playing the map but forgot somehow, he managed to kill Derrick, Sherlock and Ward, all 3 were sleeping. Also, sorry for not being able to reply here, I don't have access to my pc for now and it is tough to quote in mobile. And your LP are too large for short reply unlike Butterman's. I am not gonna lie, I stretched that as a way to justify linking that bar of the track to that part of the song. It was not part of my initial plan. Well, still. The song itself is from a comedian which sings about their attempts to be edgy and just being bad at it. Hah! That's a good one. Apologies, that was supposed to be a full stop. No problem. So there's tierlists of the teams in it then? You can find some. Pretty sure the general consensus is that boo is broken. Bah, I didn't mean a cutscene. I meant that doing so would be disastrous and cause a scene worth laughing at. Ahhhh. Well, I mean, I didn't even try, so... I do, but at least she did too. It would've been worrying if she did. You don't even recruit Saphira to get Saphira, poor her. I mean, I already have Owen. That might have been neat actually, but no we got Dadslayer instead as the mole on the inside determined to change the world. Come now... Or get one of your units caught out and then slayed by all the mages. That's another possibility, yes. Highlandor? Good enough for me. Well, that is true. Quite, yes. Or the rescuers got vanishstones to give them right away. Dangit, they could've given them to me...! No no, you don't understand. The Paramythis dodge then hit was recorded in Vladivostok. Hah! Yeah, around those parts. That is a stew that could make peace with Raze, you're right! Protect the Stewmaster! Huh, maybe one split in half and both halves flew off to the side of the foe. Could be why he missed. The arrows were iffy. I'm not sure what you meant. Nothing important. I did plan on having a different gif, but changed it after I decided to double down on Mario meming for the update part of the post. I did notice the theme. True. It was a question, for obvious reasons ("Don't matter if you've had sex, you're all worth sacrificing to Raze!"). I mean, I guess they are rather progressive in their regressiveness... Spelnda Chaos is as accurate to Chaos as Runan is to Leif, I accept no substitutes. Was it necessary to bring that up? Smoke monster Faye confirmed. Buff smoke monster. So, magic and defence. Good for her. Magic's a kind of defense, too. So gooder for her, even! Hah! What's this from? Tempted to say Futurama. It feels like that to me. Both of them got Strength in their previous levels, don't be too greedy. I'll be as greedy as I damn well please at this point, given the amount of units I have lost. Kaga literally won't let you. ...Ergh... Perceval decided he'd aim at Izerna, he knew he'd miss her for sure. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha... Fucking hell, man, I swear. Why, of all the LP memes, did this one have to be the one who lived? So you lose a unit. In what it already a tough map. Thanks S. Kaga. Ahhh, he would've missed everything anyway. That must so annoying to see happen the first time. In the middle of your troops. Eeeeeeeeeeeyup. In my first run he almost killed Elbert... And then almost got killed on the counter. He could say "I can't fall back here, I have to push on. Raze damm me if you must.", but sadly no. Oh well, can't be perfect. Had to be a flaw here and there to allow other games to compete. And another chance of dying. Oh boy this map. It's just great, isn't it? Hwahahahahahah... Oh, that's friggin' Lance! When I first saw this, I was on my phone, so the image was too tiny to make out what the thing in the middle was. Lovely, absolutely lovely. 1/3, could be worse. Certainly could be. This wasn't a small shield either. Paramythis is welcome into any game ever. Paramythis for Smash. ...I'd be tempted to say Paramythis for CyL, but I don't want the Heroes team to get their grubby mitts on her. There's very few females that they haven't stripped of most clothing for otaku moneys. Adel has realised he's only as relevant as his power now. He doesn't even need anything more. He's going to be great in all the remaining maps as is. ...Well, there's factors at play that will work against him, but... Honestly, just the fact that he promoted is... Ohh. I better not lose him...! Also, NOW he bothers to level spear points. Let's not be unfair, he did level spear points before. Not often, but uh... Sometimes. I feel like this is the map where she should go even more ham. Good point. Friendly reminder that it wasn't always like this. Was it you hit by the berserk and not Larentia? She got a crit on Alvina. For fuck's sake, it's like she was waiting for that moment her entire life, the bastard. Faye is always wary of Chaos being anywhere. Reese meanwhile is tired all the time from suppressing his emotions. That's... actually a good explanation, taking all the LP memes into account. Nice. Not me, but I feel like someone is. Though considering your death count it's not you either. Uhhhh... Well I mean, the closest thing to a child I've sacrificed is Czene, and that happened a while ago... I stand by the theory of blood sacrifices from earlier on in this LP. Heh... So wait, she actually is the Apostle? I actually thought it'd be your one out west, Good news! We'll meet that one today. But no, that's not the Apostle. with Saphira being officially the apostle, seemed like the perfect detail RD kept that you'd be bitching about. I mean, the fact that I haven't bitched about it should be quite telling. By the way, RD took crossbows from Berwick Saga and did them worse. Huh. I guess RD did do something different. Yep. The Chosen One of Serenia is a different character altogether. We'll see her today! Well that made things easy. Good job Saphira! Yep! So technically correct. Reese said "they can't use magic at all?", and that's technically not correct, since they can use a kind of magic, just not their main one. She removes Dark magic and gives allies Res. GO ON SAPHIRA Don't forget that she can also use Starlight now. She's pretty good... for three maps. Because fuck you that's why. Kaga felt extra dickish, I thought it was a weapon that required you to weigh using it and risk losing stats to balance its quality. But no, Kaga just had to rub it in. It's a weird weapon, all in all. As an aside, I kinda wish you went for it. You kidding me? Did you see the amount of assassins prowling about? I wasn't about to take any chances! Anticlimatic as it was, Sherlock obliterating his ass was the safest option. Target SherLocked on. Hah! Waitwhat. Reese was being targetted? Mmhm. What is this, is Reese actually going to matter for his own sake? If this works, oh man this could be interesting. We'll see. And Jacharam? Who's Jac and why's he so haram? Good news! We'll meet that one today. It's enough for me to ignore the glorious opportunity you didn't take to dunk on all of the Shit Range priests. Again, as satisfying as that would've been, I'd rather get out of the Assassin Woods before they get to assassinate anyone. I guess it's playing from Saphira's perspective. THE POWER OF VERIA COMPELS YOU That's a bit of a misguided reference, considering that one ended up dying and his assistant proceeded to complete the exorcism the old-fashioned way. ...Actually, you know what? I'd love to watch Paramythis beat the shit out of Owen. That would be a hilarious scene. ...Okay, maybe not, I like him too much. She can beat me up, though... Goodbye Owen, you were a healer. Maybe even the best. Depending on who you ask. So like half of Conquest. Kaga did it first! Pffft! "Another"? When was the last one? Chapter 5? Yeah, chapter 5 went pretty well, didn't it... It's only been like 40 updates. At least this map worked out. Unlike 11-1. Don't remind me of that, please... You could put the next update in Pengaius's Conquest thread, I dunno, it's a free enough forum. Hahahahah... that'd be funny, but I wouldn't want to alienate Butterman's readers. Who's that? Good news! We'll meet that one today. ...We're going to meet a good few relevant people today, yeah. Why is he not recruited? His recruitment event can't happen if he doesn't take a mace to the forehead for Izerna. It'll make sense in context. Faye sees Chaos around every corner, I don't blame her with how badly it's gone so far. And Chaos is so much of an asshole others are confused for him. At that point just get changed and wear something else, you won't get Urbanus to force Chaos to change. Wear pink. Not even kidding. Nobody could mistake you for Chaos if you wear pink. That guy's too much of a douchebag to wear pink. And another thing: Shut up Dismalleon Poor, poor Chameleon. We're getting the restaurants open next week. January is going to be so full of covid-19. I am unsurprised by these sentences. Unsurprised, but disappointed. On 11/27/2020 at 12:24 AM, Pengaius said: I just find it funny that it isn't saying Adel's Sheild, but Adel nullified dark magic, like he has some kind of powerful holy aura, or a blessing that negates evil magic. Adel promoted. That alone proves he has the Goddess's protection on his side. Hide contents Eh, sure don't mind me I'm jst Rasputin in the obvious joke. Hah! You actually went ahead and did it, you mad lad! On 11/27/2020 at 7:09 AM, ranger016 said: Hide contents Surprised to see you managed to beat this map so easily, I needed to restart 6/7 times to finally beat it. Oh, believe me, I was surprised as well. The assassins were really tough to deal with, and losing Owen and Perceval in the middle of the fight weren't great either. Paramythis and Reese with the shield were the mvp of this map. More or less the same deal for me, except it was Adel with the shield. I knew this before playing the map but forgot somehow, he managed to kill Derrick, Sherlock and Ward, all 3 were sleeping. Whoops... Also, sorry for not being able to reply here, I don't have access to my pc for now and it is tough to quote in mobile. And your LP are too large for short reply unlike Butterman's. Don't worry. I'm just happy to know people continue to enjoy my shit. 21 hours ago, BrightBow said: She just loves getting Defense. If I didn't know any better, I would think she has like a 30% Def growth. So would I... Actually, I don't even know her growths. I don't know most people's growths. Never bothered to check. Hide contents Huh, what do you mean? Why would we need... Honestly, I just needed you to stay still for a moment. THUNDER!!! Aaaahhh! You piece of shit!! This makes sense, actually. More than him missing the point of his own words, anyway. I suppose someone needs to counteract all the bad luck you wished on her up to this point. Yes, I guess it was rather hypocritical of me to give her so much crap before entrusting her with a critical mission. If you want to keep Sylvis alive, either use the Crossbow or unequip it. These things are heavy. How about I do the stupidest thing instead? Give Larentia an apology and hope she can carry this entire operation on her own? Ahhh, she probably deserves it. It's not like the berserk thing was her fault. You do realize you were the one who put her in range of Berserk to begin with? ...Yeaaaaah... Meanwhile everyone else is just hanging around uselessly in the south end of the map. I put all my hopes on Larentia. Isn't that what you wanted? For me to forgive her? Well there you go. I sleep when I'm dead. Happens often enough anyway. That's so screwed up, but... True enough. Doesn't help you with the actual mission, but sure. What do you mean? It helps us with the actual mission to not die! In fact, it helps us with EVERY mission not to die! You could have just have her use throwing spears from the start. ...Yeah, admittedly, it was a subpar move - but that was also an unlucky thing! Once again Larentia saves the day for an ungrateful world. Bah. Quit giving me a hard time for it. Give me a hard time for other things instead. You have plenty to choose from! No wait, what was I supposed to say in situations like that... Uhh, Shazam? No, Your Eminence. It's "Hocus Pocus." Who made these spells? Well, with or without magic, they are not going to stand idle for the next 1 and a half hour or so. We have to strike quickly. Meanwhile 1 hour later in an alternate universe... Maybe we should try setting up the fire again? Only a fool tries the same thing twice and expects a different outcome. How about just breaking her neck? Well, do you have a strength score higher then 0, Alfonso? I don't, I'm afraid. Maybe someone else? Sadly, I don't. Me neither. I do. I mean, it's just one but maybe... Excellent. Now break that child's neck! Okay Cardinal... eh... ...what is it? If you phrase it like that... well, it kinda feels like we are the bad guys. You gotta be kidding. Fulfill your divine duty!!. ...I can't. I'm sorry, Cardinal. You treacherous swine! I'll kill you!! ...how, sir? Maybe we should retreat for the time being. We can't run. The enemy of God is standing right there!! Can I go home now? There is a really delicious chocolate cake waiting for me back at the temple. If I eat some now, I will be hungry again when I wake up in the morning and can eat some more. You won't be able to sleep at all if you fill yourself up with sweets in the middle of the night. Yeah, never worked out for me either. Don't be like that. Come one, you can have some too. I won't be seduced by cake, witch!! I've two things to say about this: 1- The fact that I'm randomly in there among them just made my night. Thanks. That was a good laugh. 2- Chocolate cake is the key to peace with the Raze Empire. 3- I love this whole thing. Seriously. It's great. She also just lost her immortality. Not only will Paramythis no longer save her, but she will also leave permanently if Saphira dies. I know. Unfortunately. Not to mention it's only on enemies who prefer using their Berserk orbs. Yeah... Don't blame Jacharam. Reese died multiple times already. Jacharam did his job. It ain't his fault that I've the power to distort time and space through a powerful dark art known by the name of "saves." All thanks to Larentia, I might add. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, I'll stop insulting her every second sentence. How about it? I'm so glad. Unbelievable. I've seen first hand how terrible that mind controlling magic is, and you vanquished it without even using a Purification orb. But Lord Reese, please don't expect me to do this outside of cutscenes. Heck, I can't even use Purification properly. Ahh, the wonders of gameplay-story segregation. And quite the departure from the game's usual barebone game over screens. Wonder if Game Over's featuring surprisingly graphic executions will become a thing for the rest of the game. Heh... You bet. Oh hey, I never actually noticed that Yumil wasn't among the hostages. Which is why I expected Sarah. But yeah, of course it would be Yumil then. I think the game's forgotten Sarah's existence. No big surprise, considering she was literally just Yumil without her hood. I'd recognize that face anywhere! Yeah... That, uh, "face." Then maybe you are my twin sister Fana? What the hell are you on about? Faye's twin sister Fana is this game's general Lawrence. Characters you probably have forgotten about : Spoiler Last time... Golly gee, we beat one of the hardest maps without casualties! That was legitimately impressive. I am impressed at my impressiveness. But let's not celebrate. There's three maps left in the game, plenty of time to lose my favorite characters. All three of whom are... Still alive, in fact! Good God... No, no! I must not jinx it. Let's just get going, shall we? Today we're going to get some text. Starting with a conversation with Lebough. Something regarding the Apostle? Yes... As you recall, Quescria and I have been working hard to conceal the Apostle from the King. In order to do this, it was necessary to deceive even you, Lord Reese. Deception aside, the fact that she was working as a mercenary... With one misstep, it could have ended disastrously. That is why Her Eminence chose to work solely for you, Lord Reese. Since it was you, I allowed it. Shame on you, Lebough! Did you not do your homework? My track record stinks! How could you leave the safety of such a critical figure up to me?! What do you mean by that? Forgive me, I cannot elaborate further on that particular matter. Not entirely sure where that's supposed to be going, but... Look! There she is! Your Eminence... Please don't call me that... I want you to call me Saphira, like always. But isn't Saphira just a false name? No, not at all! I tell all my close friends to call me Saphira! Awww, how cute. She believes Reese comprehends the concept of friendship! It is her nickname. As she is Sanacia Phira Bronte, it is shortened to "Saphira." How clever. A nice, subtle hint of her true identity. Y'know, as if the fact that she offered her services for both ten million denarii and friggin' TEN wasn't enough. I bet Ward's still bitter about that one. Hah! She has gone by that name since she was a very young child. All right, then. I'll keep usnig the name Saphira, like I have been. Ew, don't say it like that... Say it like you used to! Don't act all stuffy and proper! The heck... Saphie, don't you know who you're speaking to? Reese of Sinon! I don't think there is a stuffier man in the whole world! I'm just a regular girl who you hired to be a healer. What...? But I can't just... DOES. NOT. COMPUTE. DOES. NOT. COMPUTE. L-Lord Reese...? Ah, my apologies, Your Eminence. You were saying? ...Sigh... I shall feign ignorance, of course, but we must be more cautious now. I need you to protect her carefully from now on. Does His Majesty intend to make Saphira his queen, as you thought? ...It would be very advantageous for him to increase the power of his own bloodline with that of the Apostle. ...... You're not going to let the King marry me, are you, Lord Reese? Well, it's not what you want, is it, Your Emin---Saphira? Of course not! I'd rather die! Hahahahahahahahahahahah... Poor, poor Volcyboy. I'd pity him if he wasn't the reason for everything bad that's happened in this game. I will protect the Apostle with all my power. Thank you, Lord Reese. You know, Miss Saphira admires you a great deal. Oh, dear. You don't want to go down that road, Saphie. Reese won't understand anything, and then the ghost of his sister-in-heat is going to haunt you. ...Please excuse Her Eminence's more... unusual quirks. After spending fourteen years hidden away in the Temple, she is still rather ignorant of the ways of the world. You don't need to tell me that. I was there when she pissed Ward off by being a poor saleswoman. That was so funny. Look after her well. We can make no missteps when it comes to her safety. I understand... I'd like to point out that she no longer has casual mode. Prior to this, Paramythis would come running to bail her out, but no longer. Quite the opposite, in fact - if Saphira dies, Paramythis leaves forever. That's one heck of a solid argument for me to never take Saphie off the bench. Speak of the devil... Dame Paramythis?! Protecting her is my sword duty, after all. If Miss Saphira is to stay at your side, then I shall fight for you as well. I'm glad to have you, so long as you're really all right with it... Until now, we have all been protecting Her Eminence from the shadows. I pray the day will soon come when we no longer need to hide ourselves. Until then, we trust in you. I understand. With Paramythis on our side, I am certain I will not fail you. With Paramythis safely recruited (and Saphira too, but nobody cares about that), we will now check on The Man of the Thousand Misses. Perceval's portrait isn't shown in this scene, to convey that he's really ill and all, I guess. I won't give him Webber, though. I'll exercise some restraint. These scenes are important. Hold on, Perceval... Don't give up...! Mother Veria, please have mercy on him... S-Sister... He must be delirious from the fever... I'm... sorry I got in a fight... But, he was... saying bad things about you... Michaela... "Michaela"?! It's not possible... How do you know that name...? He has yet to regain consciousness, but his fever has gone down. I think he'll be all right now. Thank goodness... What about you? You've been treating him for three days without sleep. You should rest. I can't leave him... He nearly gave his life to protect me. This is the only way I can repay him. Hee hee... You look like a girl who's caring for her sick little brother... A bit heavy-handed, don't you think, Tianna? Or maybe a woman looking after her younger lover... ...Never mind, I said nothing. THAT is the heavy-handed part! Lady Tianna, please! This is no time for jokes! I'm sorry, I couldn't help teasing you just a little... Although, the reason he came to Navaron was to search for his sister after being separated as children. Seeing you care for him, I couldn't help but be reminded of that. Is that true? He's looking for his sister? Yes, Lord Reese heard it from Perceval himself. I tried to help in the search, but I wasn't able to find any leads... ...What is it, Sister Izerna? What? But isn't Madam Quescria your mother? Madam Quescria rescued me from a group of slavers and took me in... My real parents are dead. It can't be...! Izerna, do you recall ever owning a carving of Saint Leia? Y-Yes, my father made it for me... I gave it to my brother Sidhe when we ran from our burning village... Then he must be... Izerna--- ---Perceval is my brother Sidhe, right? Well, there we go. That's the mystery solved. Expected it to be Enid? Well, no. This isn't Genealogy of the Holy Incest. His sister's Izerna instead. I guess this is why he confused his sister for Izerna in his vision. Turns out they were the same person. I had my suspicions... When I held him, I felt it... "Surely, this is my brother..." But I wasn't sure... And I was scared that I might be wrong... But my instinct was right... There's no mistaking it now... Isn't this fantastic, Sister Izerna? Quite fantastic, yes. Convenient, too. Oh, but if you think THIS is a pretty huge coincidence, just you wait until the next scene... I'm sure Perceval will be overjoyed when he hears it, as well. The Goddess has reunited you! You can be happy together again. Yes, you're right... Sidhe is my precious treasure. I will never lose him again! Awww... That was wholesome enough. And look, he recovered fine! His red cells missed the poison! Perceval, I'm glad to see you've recovered well. Thank you. Also, about my sister... Oh, yes, Tianna told me. What a blessing! Thank you... Lord Reese, I'd like to ask a favor of you. Please let me join your knights! Huh...? I won't refuse, of course, but why the sudden decision? He wants to spend more time with Izerna, I'm sure. Just be careful not to make another girl too jealous of her... W-What? Lady Tianna...! She's really fixated on these incest jokes, isn't she? What's up with that? You sure you aren't the one feeling jealous, Tianna? Izerna found her dead brother, alive and well. Perhaps you're bitter that the same hasn't happened with your dead lover? N-Never mind that! Reese laughed! Wha... What the heck!? Reese laughed! It's... it's honestly kinda creepy. I don't even want to imagine what that guy's laughter sounds like... No, I prefer Perceval. Izerna said she thinks so, too. The woman who took me in gave me that name. It's precious to me. Where is your foster mother now? ...She died of an illness just before I started my journey here. I see... My condolences. No, it's fine... She was a great mage, you know. I always wanted to learn fire magic like hers, but I never did have much of a knack for it. What was her name, if I may ask? It was Ferianne. And with that, the second half of the mystery is solved. Almuth's guess was correct - Perceval couldn't use the Pallas Leia because he was adopted... by Enid's mother. There is no doubting it. It has been stated before that Ferianne is the name of Enid's biological mother. Let me refresh your memory. This is from back in chapter 6: On 6/11/2020 at 12:19 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Excuse me, Grandfather, but I have preparations to make! And here I thought you were still just a mere child... Like mother, like daughter... A child of Saint Leia indeed... In case any of you are a bit lost still, here's a summary: Enid's biological mother was Ferianne. We know she's a member of Leian royalty, given that she and Enid can both use Pallas Leia. At some point, Enid was given to Roswick's daughter Catherine, the Duchess of the Lowlands. Enid was taken to the Lowlands, whereas Ferianne remained in Leia. Some time after that, Michaela and Sidhe lost track of each other. Sidhe was found, adopted and given the name "Perceval" by Ferianne. Michaela was taken by slavers, and was later freed and adopted by Quescria in Narvia, who named her "Izerna". Years later, Ferianne fell sick and passed away, leaving the Pallas Leia to Perceval. Perceval had a vision that led him to Navaron in search of his sister. On his way there, he ran by chance into a girl that, unbeknownst to him, was the daughter of his adoptive mother. And later it was proven that his vision was correct, as his sister really was in Navaron. For all his missing with magic, the guy sure is talented at running into important people by sheer dumb luck. That covers everything we know. The only thing we've yet to find out is how exactly Enid ended up becoming Roswick's granddaughter on the opposite side of the continent. Unfortunately, this won't be revealed for a while yet. Here's hoping I don't lose either her or Percy, because it would be a shame for it to remain a mystery... That's enough character stuff. Let's sell some hostages to Raze. A bit of money. Not bad. I don't really understand why Owen's recruitment is a separate event, whereas Saphira, Paramythis and Perceval's are scenes that play automatically after the map. Well, no matter. It's not like I'm about to skip this. I am sorry, Lord Reese... I have deceived you. If Reese had a nickel for every time he's heard that one in the past 12 hours, he'd have two nickels - Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice! ...Of course, if we count the entire game, that's a different story... When I consider the suffering that you've already endured, I do not blame you for saying what you did. You would forgive me? A priest of the Church of Raze? I've seen many wars in my time, and I've heard all peoples from here to Riana demonized as the "enemy." But our only real enemies are those who threaten the lives of our people. You are not our enemy, Father Owen. And what's more, you have already cut ties with Pope Urbanus, correct? Lord Reese... At present, Church doctrine is being warped and rewritten to fit the extremist designs of Pope Urbanus. I believe that by fighting for you, I will be able to help my brethren still in Raze to escape his wrath. If you're still willing to take me, I beg you, Lord Reese, please allow me to join you! Certainly, but under one condition. Please do not try to shoulder your burdens alone anymore. We want to help you, Father Owen. And we want to help all the people of Raze who also wish for peace with the Berwick League. You would still forgive me...? Truly...? Yes, Father Owen. I look forward to fighting alongside you more in the future. Thank you... Then I shall serve you as the best priest of Veria that I can be! I love this line. That's... about all I have to say about this scene, really. It speaks for itself. It's good. As a man who knows both religions, you have a unique perspective and invaluable talents. Reese is correct. With his curse gone, Owen has gained a new ability. Convert allows him to turn into a garbage bag at will, and we don't lose control of him, either. Unfortunately, he has the Limited skill as a Raze monk. It prevents him from using orbs with a higher rank than 3, which... honestly, it sucks. It's only three maps, why not let him berserk enemies for shits and giggles? Oh well. He can use two orbs as a Raze monk: nosferatu, with which he has shitty accuracy. It's pretty bad, I won't lie. More importantly, he has darkmend. Darkmend has 5 range instead of physic's 3, and with Paramythis available to take over the Verian healer role, it can be pretty nice to have Owen cast some long range heals. The heal formula is a bit different, but he'll be able to heal roughly the same amount as with physic. All in all, not bad, not bad. That's it for the chapter's events. Next up, let us visit Erzheimer and deliver the final items. This is the last time we'll see these lines. Enjoy 'em. I think the divine brace is the most expensive Erz item. Which is only fair, it's the most useful Erz item, too. "It's"? It's finally finished! That's every item I wanted for this new collection! Ah, I see. Still, you do not need to shout about it, Mr. Erzheimer... Oh, but I must, Sir Ward! My joy simply cannot be contained! Words cannot express how grateful I am... You must celebrate with me! Ha ha... If you keep up this giddiness, I may just have to. Hah! Ward can taste the wine already. Sir Ward, as a way of thanking you for all you've done, please take this as a gift from me. That's not wine... Funnily enough, this is a small shield, thus something Ward cannot use. Still, it's probably the best small shield in the game (maybe aside from the shining shield because cancelling dark magic is handy), so... Thanks a lot, Erzheimer! And yet, my heart still feels that there is something missing... Oh, what to do... Of course! I have it! Clara! Yes, Master? General Ward, by all means, take Clara with you as well! W-What?! Oh yeah, he's just... Sort of giving us his maid. Just 'cause he can, I guess. Yes, it is rather sudden, but she is an excellent worker. You will undoubtedly find her a great asset. That isn't what I meant... Wouldn't it make trouble for you if Clara were not here? He'll lose track of his expenses for sure... But of course, he seems to have infinite money somehow, so who cares, really. Perish the thought, Sir Ward! You needn't worry about me! I understand, sir. ...... Gasp! Look! It's smiling Reese! If you really squint your eyes, you can tell! Man, first he laughs, now he smiles... Is this what they call character development? Yes, Lord Reese? Do you have any idea why there is a strange girl inside our vault? Pfffft! Did Ward really put her in the vault? And he didn't introduce her to everyone else... The poor girl. She has the patience of a saint, that one. Though I guess this'll be a nice break from dealing with Erzheimer's antics... Hey, it just occured to me. How would they handle the Hassan sidequest if Clara is already on Ward's employ by chapter 12? It's definitely possible to pull off. In fact, I would've pulled it off if I hadn't somehow missed the early blood knife! Huh... ...Y-Yes... Earlier today, General Ward brought her here... Ward did? Why? It seems that a friend of Sir Ward's has gifted her to us to help manage our supplies from now on... "Gifted" her to us? Now I'm even more confused... Well, I suppose I ought to give her a proper welcome, then. Yes... I should as well. Nobody welcomed her to the West House?! Ward just shoved her into the vault without further fanfare? Pffffft... Ahahahahahahaha! What a wonderfully ridiculous ending for the most hilarious sideplot! And what a reward, too! Look at that. Even more defense than the Perseid, 80% shield rate, A durability, magic resistance, 8 counter damage on block, anyone can use it... It's just wonderful. We've gotten it rather late, but I can see us getting some use out of this thing. Thanks a ton, Erzheimer! Let's go greet Clara. From today forth, I will assist you in managing your storage. I have also brought four new carrying bags for your personal use, that you may stay organized. That's a filthy lie, by the way. I understand you have many supplies, so I will do all that I can to help. If you have any baggage you will not be using for a while, I will gladly take care of it for you. I look forward to working for you from now on, Master. So uh... Yeah. You know that room that we haven't used in our entire life? The one that's completely useless, because what few extra items I have I leave on benched units? The one we only entered once to pick up the two free bags? Now it's got Clara in it. We can't even take her bags. You can give her more bags, but her bags are hers alone. "Personal use" my ass! All in all, this reward is pretty useless. The Vollenden and the money from the items are what you want to do the Erzie quest for. Not this. We can now freely return to Erzheimer's house to see the collection at any time. Of course! Come, come! Look to your heart's content! Not too shabby. I would imagine the general shield overshadows everything else. That thing is as big as a person! All right, that's enough lollygagging. Let's proceed to chapter 13. Chapter 13 is, if you didn't know, the first chapter without sidequests. From here on, it's one map per chapter, with chapter 15 being the final map. We're very close to the end now! I can only hope those of you who are watching this LP blind have gained a positive outlook on the game since the beginning. Y'know, the more people play Berwick, the better, as far as I'm concerned. A resistance group arose in Barmoar, calling itself the Army of Veria. Damn... Bernard really does work fast. He's been free for two months and he's already well on his way to getting the map looking like back before he was exiled! More than 20,000 Imperial soldiers fell to their sweeping campaign. Many in the Empire, wearied by the war's prolongation, grew discontent. and hastily tried to regain control. Count Piers of Serenia was namedropped a few chapters back, in another map scene. With him, however, is someone we've never seen before: Gordova, third Cardinal of Raze. He's... not gonna lie, he's rather unremarkable. The most interesting thing about him is that "gordo" in spanish means "fat". He's named Fatva. Hah hah. Cardinal Gordova... Not well, I regret to say. We cannot take one step without that blasted sorceress appearing... It's maddening! It seems as though complaining is all that you can do. Even here in Serenia, the rabble are taking up arms against you. This so-called Chosen One has proven to be quite capable... Are you... praising her?! Cardinal, if we do not change the tides quickly, she will have my head! Given how much your subjects loathe you, I highly doubt you will receive such a lenient sentence. They will sever your fingers, cut off your ears, pluck out your eyes... ...Just as you have done to them. B-But that was... I was simply following your orders! I-I am not responsible for... ...H-Help me... You have to help me, Cardinal! Fear not. She is merely one girl. The solution to this little problem of ours will come soon enough. We need only peel off the layers on her surface, and the people will soon abandon her. Heh heh heh... Look! It's... it's... the Chosen One! In two days' time, Duke Bernard will return here. She... She's been summoned by the King!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T GO, CHOSEN ONE! That bastard will exile you for having prettier hair than him or some shit! And then we'll lose the war again! I understand that it was a strict order from His Majesty, but please... Just until Duke Bernard returns... If the Empire is willing to offer us an armistice, Wait, wait, wait... What!? Why would Raze want to offer an armistice? They're winning! then it cannot wait. Not even for Duke Bernard. His Majesty wishes to appoint me as his representative to the conference. I would prefer to have Duke Bernard's approval, of course, but time is of the essence now. I understand your wish to make peace with the Empire as soon as possible, milady... But, if I may speak freely, you seem unusually anxious to get to Navaron. ...D-Do I...? I've already made up my mind. Don't worry about me, Cassandra. I promise, I will bring you back only good news. You mean like Bernard brought good news back to Bernstool and Lynette? Oh, wait, that's right, he was exiled by that absolute moron, and then they both died. Didn't he tell you that story? ...Very well. I shall not stop you, milady... Rather, I shall accompany you. Cassandra... Oh, boy. Almachus and Rasputin are both dead, and Gordova is in Serenia, which can only mean... We're about to meet the fourth Cardinal. Chaos, are you certain of this?! There hasn't been some error? I heard the news from the lips of His Holiness himself. The Emperor is dead. At last... That decrepit old fossil is finally out of the way... ...Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Well, that's it. Jacharam, the fourth and final Cardinal of Raze, in all his garbage bagness. There you have him. ...... ...Ahhh, blistering fucking barnacles-- As a primary concern, the Emperor's decree naming Manaris as his heir still stands... If we do not hurry, that vixen's pup will be given the whole Empire. Jacharam, I am taking my soldiers back with me to the homeland. I'm leaving the war to you. Handle it at your own discretion. How fortunate for me that we will be drawing up an armistice, then... Once I've dealt with that whoreson Manaris, I shall return with haste. Until then, I'm counting on you. Of course, Your Highness... Faisal leaves with his harem. Only Jacharam and Chaos remain. ...What do you mean? Set a wyvern loose upon a pack of wolves, and they will tear each other apart... so to speak. It is a mundane plan, yes, but quite effective on the weak-minded. ...... Faisal is a buffoon, going off to the homeland without even realizing that you were using him... Chaos, do not forget that I still hold the Vritra in my possession. You know, I think this is the first person that has ever dared to talk back to Chaos. Not only that, he has the means to back up his words. Holy shit... I mean, I can't imagine a mage would be skilled enough to best a masterful swordsman like Chaos in a 1v1 even without Vajra's protection, but Chaos probably doesn't want to risk dying to an unlucky cut. Ha ha ha... Yes, I understand... I would not dare oppose the royal military advisor... Ha ha... Chosen One's got two facial expressions, like smol Sienna. Sure, why not. We are eternally grateful. Even the Empire acknowledges your power as Serenia's Chosen One. I give you my royal seal of authority. You shall be my proxy, and I expect you to return with a treaty in hand. I shall not fail you, Your Majesty. For the sake of all of our people who have suffered throughout the war... I will endure any hardship necessary to end it. Well spoken! As expected of the Goddess's Chosen One of Serenia. You shall meet the Imperial dignitaries at Fort Damsarl in the Lowland Duchy. Go there posthaste. Yes, Your Majesty. I shall leave at once. That's not going to end well, is it... They have promised to return all of our lost territory so long as we give up the Eastern Three Kingdoms. And so long as that girl is the one to be Your Majesty's representative... And Volcyboy finds none of this suspicious in the slightest!? They're currently winning the war, yet as soon as one credible threat shows up, they surrender and offer to give back all the lost territories under the sole condition that the one credible threat is sent as a representative to the negotiations. Jesus Christ, Volcens! I know being an idiot is kind of your trademark character trait, but this is too much, man! Too much! It seems almost too easy. Heh... Of course you'd say that. Grrrrr... And yet with this, the kingdom will be saved. Phew... Well done, Herman. I must say, Faisal surprised me... Laying down his arms over one little girl from Goddess knows where? Yes, surprisingly soft of him... Your Majesty was clearly made of sterner stuff than he. Naturally... Oh, for the love of-- Roswick! Where's Roswick?! Why isn't Roswick speaking up against this blatant set up!? Ah, that boy is next, isn't he... Yes, Your Majesty. And Duke Roswick is away, as you arranged... ...I-I don't think I... quite like the sound of that...! I received your urgent summons, Your Majesty... Yes, I have need of you. You are to proceed to Baston and defend the city to the last. Baston, Your Majesty? Has the fortress at L'Amsarc fallen? It has. Vanmilion suffered a crushing defeat, and though Duke Roswick took up arms himself to aid him... Both have now begun to retreat to the city of Baston. I understand, Your Majesty. I shall ride to their sides at once! Your Majesty...! If Baston falls, there will be nothing left to stop the Imperial Army. Navaron will fall, and countless citizens will perish. Reese, you must not let that happen. You are the only one I can count on. I am honored to accept, Your Majesty. I will go and make ready. I mean, in Reese's case, it's not really all that surprising that he doesn't find Volcens's strangely honeyed words or Roswick's convenient absence suspicious. He's spent the entire game getting bamboozled over and over by everyone! Most agreed, Your Majesty. Once the war is over, there will be no more need for him. ...... Pffft... Even Herman has been rendered speechless by how hilariously gullible everyone around him is. Ah! Sienna! Yes, please! Talk some sense into the blond moron! Your Highness?! Pfft! Look at him, down on his knees already. She didn't even have time to walk over to him! I heard you are going to Baston. Is that true? Yes, on His Majesty's orders. You can't go! You mustn't! Your Highness...? I can feel it... If you go now, you will never return. I understand the risks. But I am the only one who can save our friends at Baston now. Lord Vester will arrive any day now with 5,000 of Bornia's knights. Can you not at least wait for him? You know that I can't, Your Highness... Not when the situation is so dire... You are resolved to go, then? No matter the cost...? I am sorry, Your Highness... Then swear an oath to me. Swear that you will return alive! I-I... Hahahah! I bet she's been wanting to say this to him for a long, long time. What sword is this...? This is Nothung, a holy blade once borne by the Verian kings of old. ...... Nothung?! I cannot possibly accept this! Whoa, whoa! Sienna! You should ask Bernard if he'd be fine with an open relationship first! Your Highness?! I cannot bear to lose you... Please, do not give me cause to grieve even more... I love how unprincessly this princess is. It's what makes her so great-- ...! Hold up! What's that? Oh, she's just... turning around and leaving. That was weird. ...Mmph... ...... ....N-Ngh... ...! T H I S D I V I N E L I G H T N I N G S H A L L P I E R C E T H E S K I E S ! ...Sorry. I had to get that one out of my system. Again. Also, I'd like to point out that this game has Gram, Nothung and Balmung - all three of which are names for the sword of Sigurd in norse lore. And none of them belong to Sigurd. Sigurd gets the entirely unrelated Tyrfing instead. Kaga, as always, likes to reference folklore without thinking the actual references through too much. ...No, I wasn't. Milady...? Are you feeling all right? Yes, I'm fine. Cassandra, we should be going. I shall ready my things, then. There is no need. I will go alone. Milady?! It is a condition of the armistice. You must wait here, Cassandra. Of course, and this girl doesn't find that strange either. Everyone in Veria is a complete idiot except for Sienna. Okay, maybe that's going too far, but... We need Sienna to be the queen of Veria. And... you know what? Screw Bernard and his knightly pride. Let Sienna be king and queen. Is that too much to ask? But that cannot be... You must go alone? ...This war has taken many precious people away from me. My parents... my siblings... the man who took me in and treated me like family... And now, even him... You know, that would've been a good time to use that angery portrait-- ...! Oh, snap! It's Lynette! Sister-in-heat is alive, and she is the Chosen One! And... she just... ran into Reese and Sienna coddling together in a corridor... Fuck. It's an anime misunderstanding moment, isn't it... She's going to do something reckless because of the heartbreak, isn't she... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--! It just occured to me, though. How come she never sent word? I understand seeing him getting all touchy with another girl probably upset her too much to speak with him right there (even if, to be fair, it was Sienna that was getting all handsy on the sociopath), but it's been months! She could've written any time! Why does everyone keep Reese in the dark about everything!? You'd think she would want the man she loves to know that she's alive! Well, regardless. Ohohohohohohoho... Hwahahahahahahah! Yes! Yes...! Nothung, man. Sienna, you're the best. In case you can't read, Nothung is a 15 might sword with 15 extra magical damage. 30 might sword, ladies and gentlemen. It has pretty decent hit too, and it grants Reese a fuckton of resistance against dark spells. Its durability is only middling, but it repairs itself - and I mean, there's so little left of the game that it doesn't really matter. This thing's going to take many lives. Heheheh... Save his colts! ...... ...Oh! Welcome, welcome... Please, come in... Thank you... You seem distracted, Carmal. Is something the matter? Oh, it's nothing for you to trouble yourself with, Sir Ward... I won't know that for certain until I hear what it is. I suppose that's true... I try to go every year, and I just got back from there the other day. I'm guessing Sandrov's desert clan was fine with the horsemanship festival and wouldn't try to kill people on their way there? Not that it would be a problem this year. This year was particularly promising. I was able to find quite a few young foals of good stock from breeders. I see... No doubt you have a practiced eye for finding promising foals. But on the journey home, I had to board them with my old friend who owns a ranch in Baston. In Baston? That's inconveniently far... Right. And the way things are going, there's a good chance the Empire will march through and take them. Tell me, why did you leave these foals halfway instead of bringing them back here to Navaron? They slowed us down too much. They're not broken yet, so it was an ordeal even getting them to Baston. Ah, I can see how that would be quite troublesome... This scene is full of horsemanship technicisms. I was a bit lost the first time I saw it. What a conundrum... What if we were to retrieve these foals for you? Beg your pardon? I can't make any promises, but since we will happen to be in that area... Sir Ward...! So if it's possible, we'll do what we can to fetch those foals for you. Oh, thank you, Sir Ward! If you can bring them back to me, I'll be sure to reward you greatly! If I may be so bold as to request what reward that might be... That's not true, actually. The reward is something different. I guess he changed his mind? Then again, the reward is actually way better than a mere discount, so... Thank you, Carmal. I'll inform Lord Reese of this matter. You are too kind, Sir Ward! Thank you for your service! Next up, picking up scraps. I should mention, by the way, that these are the final citizen requests in the game. Chapters 14 and 15 have no requests. Brings a nostalgic tear to my eye, it does. I happened to be in the neighborhood, so I thought I should stop by. I see, I see... Well, feel free to look around at your leisure. Thank you. Business seems to be going well, is it not? It is. With the war getting fiercer than ever now, we've been swamped with new orders. I don't know if I should be happy or sad that we're doing so well... I understand how you must feel. But you and your artisans are not to blame for the war's escalation. Yeah, I know you're right... There have been downsides, though. With all these orders, we're running short on supplies left and right. It's getting tough to find sellers. It's rare stuff, only brought here by merchants from other lands far to the east of us here in Lazberia. Wait... Far to the east of Lazberia... "Jugud" lumber... Is it Lieberia? Are we watching another connection unfold, is that it? Wait, no, wasn't Lieberia destroyed? Ah, I can't keep up with the Berwick lore... @Aethin? Any ideas as to where this wood might be coming from? Since the Empire controls those sea routes now, I haven't been able to get any since the war began. What a troublesome affair... You can say that again... But you know, I've heard the empire's buyin' up Jugud wood like crazy! Supposedly, they use it to make a lot of their ballista parts... Imperial ballistae, you say... It is likely that we may encounter a few in our coming battles. You'd do that for us? That'd be a great help, Sir Ward! I suppose I should go and prepare. Until we meet again! Well, that's it! Slight mistranslation in this description. We're protecting the town of Baston, not Fort Baston - in fact, as you'll see next time, Baston has multiple forts. Well, it's a small thing. So, next time! We'll go rescue one million men, as well as Best Grandpa, in what... By all rights appears to be the suicidest mission of all our suicide missions. I'm not feeling too good about this, but... Guess we'll just have to see how it goes. Wish me luck, and... Whichever one of you is sacrificing children for me... Please keep at it. I'm going to need it. Farewell. Punished Dayni
Spoiler 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Considering only women were allowed in, I imagine he would've had to dress up as a female clown. That's... an interesting image, for a lack of a better word. There's a bad comedy skit there. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Unfortunate. Also another point, it's the only status of its type (volatile) that can be cured by items. You can see why that myth persisted. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hah! What's this from? Tempted to say Futurama. It feels like that to me. Nah it's Simpsons. As someone who's actually seen all of Futurama, it never looked like that. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha... Fucking hell, man, I swear. Why, of all the LP memes, did this one have to be the one who lived? Half of the memes were made by the units dying. Because some jokes that hare hit or miss persist regardless. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hwahahahahahah... Oh, that's friggin' Lance! When I first saw this, I was on my phone, so the image was too tiny to make out what the thing in the middle was. Lovely, absolutely lovely. I didn't find a picture of a lance from Berwick, so I went "Hmm, what else is a Lance..." As an aside, I had never used the tool I used to stretch Lance before, hence the hatchet job that makes him kinda look like a polearm. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: By the way, RD took crossbows from Berwick Saga and did them worse. Like I needed reminding. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: That is why Her Eminence chose to work solely for you, Lord Reese. Since it was you, I allowed it. Shame on you, Lebough! Did you not do your homework? My track record stinks! How could you leave the safety of such a critical figure up to me?! If only some other lordling's son would have been much better. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: It is her nickname. Hah! I can't help but remember that one dragon from the series of books that knocked off Star Wars and proceeded to give us a movie so bad it killed any future sequels on its own. Keep in mind I don't hate that series, just that one of the main characters has that name. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: All right, then. SO WILL I SHOUT IT LIKE THIS THEN MAGGOT SAPHIRA? Please tone it down a little sir Reese. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: You're not going to let the King marry me, are you, Lord Reese? Well, it's not what you want, is it, Your Emin---Saphira? Of course not! I'd rather die! Then if I must I will do so for you at your request. With relish. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PARAMYTHIS REMOVE THIS FIEND FROM MY SIGHT AT ONCE 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I'd like to point out that she no longer has casual mode. Prior to this, Paramythis would come running to bail her out, but no longer. Quite the opposite, in fact - if Saphira dies, Paramythis leaves forever. That's one heck of a solid argument for me to never take Saphie off the bench. Huh. At least that's another unit you can be less scared of losing. For a time. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Not when you've turned off her casual mode! 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: He must be delirious from the fever... I'm... sorry I got in a fight... But, he was... saying bad things about you... Michaela... "Michaela"?! It's not possible... How do you know that name...? He couldn't have heard that name before from somewhere else could he? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hee hee... You look like a girl who's caring for her sick little brother... A bit heavy-handed, don't you think, Tianna? Or maybe a woman looking after her younger lover... ...Never mind, I said nothing. THAT is the heavy-handed part! Heavy is the head that wears the shade. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Madam Quescria rescued me from a group of slavers and took me in... Huh, guess that takes care of that. Perceval's sister was right under his nose and he didn't notice for nearly a year. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well, there we go. That's the mystery solved. Expected it to be Enid? Well, no. This isn't Genealogy of the Holy Incest. His sister's Izerna instead. I guess this is why he confused his sister for Izerna in his vision. Turns out they were the same person. After Enid being confirmed to not be his sister, I got to thinking it wouldn't be a playable character. Sidhe could have been the sibling, could have been someone else important, but nah, just cross the two and be done with both threads I guess. That's a good answer. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Huh...? I won't refuse, of course, but why the sudden decision? He wants to spend more time with Izerna, I'm sure. Just be careful not to make another girl too jealous of her... W-What? Lady Tianna...! Making up for lost time with someone so close, eh? Would you stop that Lady Tianna? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: N-Never mind that! Reese laughed! Wha... What the heck!? Reese laughed! It's... it's honestly kinda creepy. I don't even want to imagine what that guy's laughter sounds like... Sometimes, trash gets you some way to knowing cursed knowledge like Reese's laugh. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: It was Ferianne. This is from back in chapter 6: Well, there we have it. Perceval's adopted! 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: In case any of you are a bit lost still, here's a summary: Enid's biological mother was Ferianne. So, Ferianne makes Enid/Perceval have the same mother without them knowing. Considering she was royalty, I can only assume she's smiling with her thumb up approving of it. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: If Reese had a nickel for every time he's heard that one in the past 12 hours, he'd have two nickels - Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice! ...Of course, if we count the entire game, that's a different story... I'm pretty sure he'd be able to actually buy something with that money. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I've seen many wars in my time, and I've heard all peoples from here to Riana demonized as the "enemy." But our only real enemies are those who threaten the lives of our people. You are not our enemy, Father Owen. And what's more, you have already cut ties with Pope Urbanus, correct? I myself don't have much of a reason for it, but I guess we're doing that now. It's a theme. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I love this line. That's... about all I have to say about this scene, really. It speaks for itself. It's good. As a man who knows both religions, you have a unique perspective and invaluable talents. Reese wants you! I mean, it fits everything of this scene, I don't have anything else to add. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Reese is correct. Why so limited? Kaga never lets us have fun with status. Unless you're someone like Tina I guess, the psycho she is. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ah, I see. That's the spirit! .....And that's the Sacaen Inverse Gin gone, but what harm in festivities at a great time like this! 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...... .....I made it weird didn't it? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Pfffft! Huh... Ward just putting women in cages now, #Berwick'sfucked. I suspect she'd just be walking around too, I doubt he'd actually lock her in there. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Nobody welcomed her to the West House?! Ward just shoved her into the vault without further fanfare? Pffffft... Ahahahahahahaha! What a wonderfully ridiculous ending for the most hilarious sideplot! It's not exactly my kink, but honestly it's better than some of Erzheimer's requests. I guess that if he didn't Reese would ask why there's a woman not named Tianna in the area behind his desk. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: And what a reward, too! That's some nice shielding right there. Also, I still find it weird that there's units who can use Medium/Large shields but are also not able to wield smaller shields, you'd think it's a similar enough fundamental that they'd have some ability with them. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: So uh... Yeah. You know that room that we haven't used in our entire life? The one that's completely useless, because what few extra items I have I leave on benched units? The one we only entered once to pick up the two free bags? Now it's got Clara in it. Poor Clara, shoved into Tianna's spare room. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: We can't even take her bags. You can give her more bags, but her bags are hers alone. "Personal use" my ass! All in all, this reward is pretty useless. The Vollenden and the money from the items are what you want to do the Erzie quest for. Not this. I mean, you should have seen this coming. It's personal..... but not that personal, she likes those bags thank you. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Count Piers of Serenia was namedropped a few chapters back, in another map scene. With him, however, is someone we've never seen before: Gordova, third Cardinal of Raze. He's... not gonna lie, he's rather unremarkable. The most interesting thing about him is that "gordo" in spanish means "fat". He's named Fatva. Hah hah. I suspect it's a massive bastardisation of Cordoba. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Given how much your subjects loathe you, I highly doubt you will receive such a lenient sentence. They will sever your fingers, cut off your ears, pluck out your eyes... ...Just as you have done to them. B-But that was... I was simply following your orders! I-I am not responsible for... Piers really making himself out to be a spineless monster by doing so willingly. There's sadism and then there's Piers apparently. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I've already made up my mind. Don't worry about me, Cassandra. I promise, I will bring you back only good news. You mean like Bernard brought good news back to Bernstool and Lynette? Oh, wait, that's right, he was exiled by that absolute moron, and then they both died. Didn't he tell you that story? Once again, Jeanne D'Arc vibes are not a good thing here. Also, Cassandra's 3H Catherine's name from before she joined the knights. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, boy. You don't have to meet the fourth cardinal, he could be minding the emperor until he died just now. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Well, Raze going into internal schisms, how convenient. And any time a baby's being given an empire it's never a good sign, the emperor's an idiot. And why did he do it exactly? What did Faisal of all idiots do to piss emperor idiot off? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Jacharam, I am taking my soldiers back with me to the homeland. I'm leaving the war to you. Handle it at your own discretion. How fortunate for me that we will be drawing up an armistice, then... Once I've dealt with that whoreson Manaris, I shall return with haste. Until then, I'm counting on you. And please don't forget that Urbanus will have to confirm the babe's dead, so make sure it's been adequately done in. Zephyrus better hope that he's not going to face someone competent in protecting his nephew. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Set a wyvern loose upon a pack of wolves, and they will tear each other apart... so to speak. It is a mundane plan, yes, but quite effective on the weak-minded. ...... Faisal is a buffoon, going off to the homeland without even realizing that you were using him... That's my shtick Jacharam, please stay in your lane 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Chaos, do not forget that I still hold the Vritra in my possession. He's the Gharnef of this game to Chaos's Medeus apparently. I guess Jacharam just said he wouldn't hesitate and called Chaos a bitch, I'll say I'm mildly impressed. I decided to leave this breaking news to afterwards, but thinking that Jacharam was kinda Gharnef like made me think again. And he reminds me of someone...... ..... I- I FUCKING CALLED IT! Warping is in this game, you cannot deny it! I KNEW IT! FIRST! FUCKING! SECOND! WOOOOOO! SUCK ON THAT JACHERNEF! 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Chosen One's got two facial expressions, like smol Sienna. Surprisingly not treating the person as an idiot. Did Volcens get character development? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: They have promised to return all of our lost territory so long as we give up the Eastern Three Kingdoms. And so long as that girl is the one to be Your Majesty's representative... That is a little too convenient. Wanting her to be the representative is the real red flag, taking only some of the territory is fine on paper if you know you can steamroll them in future. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: And Volcyboy finds none of this suspicious in the slightest!? They're currently winning the war, yet as soon as one credible threat shows up, they surrender and offer to give back all the lost territories under the sole condition that the one credible threat is sent as a representative to the negotiations. Jesus Christ, Volcens! I know being an idiot is kind of your trademark character trait, but this is too much, man! Too much! Well, Bernard's not being asked to go, fair is fair. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Phew... Well done, Herman. I must say, Faisal surprised me... Laying down his arms over one little girl from Goddess knows where? Yes, surprisingly soft of him... Your Majesty was clearly made of sterner stuff than he. Naturally... Oh Hernef work the shaft! Volcens really is a simple man. It's a pity he was let get to this point, but here we are. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I received your urgent summons, Your Majesty... Well that could have been better, you're trying to make an armistice but there's no temporary truse? Volcen, you are going to have marshmallow for brains when your head's broken open aren't you? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Your Majesty...! If Baston falls, there will be nothing left to stop the Imperial Army. Navaron will fall, and countless citizens will perish. Reese, you must not let that happen. You are the only one I can count on. Humility from Volcens is a weird one. Reese seems like someone Volcens would just say "Screw you Orphan!" and before Reese could retort he'd walk off. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Most agreed, Your Majesty. Once the war is over, there will be no more need for him. ...... Pffft... Even Herman has been rendered speechless by how hilariously gullible everyone around him is. @The_HerMAN!: I am feeling strange emotions. On the one hand Reese could die. On the other hand I am surrounded by such idiots that victory would ring hollow if it finally happened. He also could live, which would suck. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Then swear an oath to me. Swear that you will return alive! I-I... Hahahah! I bet she's been wanting to say this to him for a long, long time. The only one who is allows to be on their knees to me is Bernard! ................. I know what I said. Also: @SienaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA: All in my kingdom shall see their fellow man for who they are regardless of status. People, you bow to noone. Except you Bernard, you know what time it is. 🙊👏😈 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Whoa, whoa! Sienna! You should ask Bernard if he'd be fine with an open relationship first! We're open so long as he's shut off by the war. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Also, I'd like to point out that this game has Gram, Nothung and Balmung - all three of which are names for the sword of Sigurd in norse lore. And none of them belong to Sigurd. Sigurd gets the entirely unrelated Tyrfing instead. Kaga, as always, likes to reference folklore without thinking the actual references through too much. That's S. Kaga for ya. I know what you'll say the moment it does..... Hell that could be part of a plot, all three swords being required for something or other. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I love how unprincessly this princess is. It's what makes her so great-- ...! Hold up! What's that? Oh, she's just... turning around and leaving. That was weird. Huh, wonder who that was? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: There is no need. Idiocy is apparently a desirable trait in Berwick if it's this contagious. BERWICK WAS ALWAYS FUCKED. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...! Oh, snap! It's Lynette! Sister-in-heat is alive, and she is the Chosen One! And... she just... ran into Reese and Sienna coddling together in a corridor... Fuck. It's an anime misunderstanding moment, isn't it... She's going to do something reckless because of the heartbreak, isn't she... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--! Well, that was certainly bad timing. Excuse me, considering she's going to die if she goes, maybe I can stop it. Lynette? What is it- FINALLY. MY TIME HAS ARRIVED! LYNETTE, Spoiler (I am sorry for using that sprite for it, but injured sprite option fit.) 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: It just occured to me, though. The war effort I suppose, but the letter could have gotten to Narvia in advance. Or maybe not, there's a lot going on that it might not have. She's been at it for three months, the stress could have been enough to distract from it for sure. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well, regardless. Heheheh... NOW you're playing with power, +15 is stupidly good in this game. This thing is going to see a ton of use isn't it? Also, this might make no sense to you, but I can't unhear that name here. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Right. And the way things are going, there's a good chance the Empire will march through and take them. Tell me, why did you leave these foals halfway instead of bringing them back here to Navaron? They slowed us down too much. They're not broken yet, so it was an ordeal even getting them to Baston. You could say they would have caused you to foal to get to here otherwise. Never enter this establishment again. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: It's rare stuff, only brought here by merchants from other lands far to the east of us here in Lazberia. The Jugud forests could still be a thing, it's not like Lieberia sank into the sea or anything. I still want my racist Jugudi to have messed things up somehow, is they any way to confirm they moved to Lazberia? You finally got me to pick a profile pic that you wanted. Hope you like it. Aethin
Spoiler 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Damn... Bernard really does work fast. He's been free for two months and he's already well on his way to getting the map looking like back before he was exiled! Bernard trying to hold the Berwick League together like: why can't I hold all this Berwick League? 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Wait, no, wasn't Lieberia destroyed? Nope, Lieberia's fine. The ancient earthquake hit the southern part of the Sea of Berre, not Lieberia. The fault line runs along the Morra Strait, and the Ancient Empire's capital was at Heliki, just northeast but now underwater. The earthquake was so massive that it connected the former Lake of Berre to the ocean, making it the Sea of Berre and changing the continent from an O into a Λ. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: This is the last time we'll see these lines. Golb89
[Addendums] Spoiler On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Well, there we go. That's the mystery solved. Expected it to be Enid? Well, no. This isn't Genealogy of the Holy Incest. His sister's Izerna instead. I guess this is why he confused his sister for Izerna in his vision. Turns out they were the same person. I'm much more surprised Izerna isn't Enid's sister instead... On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Reese is correct. With his curse gone, Owen has gained a new ability. Convert allows him to turn into a garbage bag at will, and we don't lose control of him, either. The Roger The Paladin
Spoiler I could spell it "Alcamus" if you want. Easy edit. On 11/27/2020 at 6:22 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Jikes... What kind of shitty hotel was that? The kind where there were enough beds in the room for 5 people, so my parents decided "hey you're the oldest. You sleep in this thing we brought for a damn week". Irony is these days, I can sleep anywhere. But not then. On 11/27/2020 at 6:22 AM, Saint Rubenio said: This is Erzheimer we're talking about. He'll find something. Maybe wanted posters from bounties. Why do enemies in strategy games never have good tactical decisions? They either depend on being better equipped, better statistics (more a hard mode or boss thing admittedly) or just plain numbers. Then again... with my Caeda, that might be hypocritical. Her weapon is OP, and her current stats are even more so. On 11/27/2020 at 6:22 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Suddenly, Ward comes out of nowhere! I'd like to point out that he was really far from the two of them. At least two turns worth of movement, especially without a horse. Perceval missing the chance to die. I was just making a reference to Captain Marvel / Shazam. You know, little Billy Batson shouts Shazam!, gets hit by lightning and transforms into a big beefcake. Pretty much what happened here, so it seemed appropriate. Spoiler On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Ahh, the wonders of gameplay-story segregation. It's not even the only time she does it. Really should have just been given that as an ability. Would be a nice failsafe too, seeing how relevant countering Berserk is on those final maps. I mean, there are only two Purification Orbs. The first one is tied to a suicidal chapter 3 priest, the second requires crafting. On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Forgive me, I cannot elaborate further on that particular matter. Lebough yet again implying Reese is inherently special. Doesn't lead anywhere, though. Also weird how that whole thing about the Apostle is utterly inconsequential in the end. Maybe the idea was to have a second game that would revolve around the truth behind Lazberia's mythology. I mean, that's basically what Radiant Dawn did. On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Madam Quescria rescued me from a group of slavers and took me in... My real parents are dead. I'm a healer but... some afflictions only death can cure. On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: No, I prefer Perceval. Izerna said she thinks so, too. I get not giving him access to those broken Dark Orbs. But not allowing him to gain EXP and capping his dark skill at 0 is pretty weird. Not like he would suddenly go Nosferatu tanking if he were more accurate. On 11/29/2020 at 10:15 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Do you have any idea why there is a strange girl inside our vault? So he just kinda dumped her in the storage room and went on his way? Saint Rubenio
Part 87 - Team Fortress 5. Are you sure this will work?: Spoiler On 11/30/2020 at 1:16 AM, Dayni said: Hide contents There's a bad comedy skit there. Hahahahaha... So bad it's good, perhaps? Also another point, it's the only status of its type (volatile) that can be cured by items. You can see why that myth persisted. Right... An easy misconception to make. Nah it's Simpsons. As someone who's actually seen all of Futurama, it never looked like that. Dangit, so close! I considered both shows, but for some reason that felt more like a joke Futurama would make to me. Not sure why I made that assumption, looking back. Half of the memes were made by the units dying. You're right... We keep talking about the starting team, but the meme squad is the real slaughter here. Perceval is the sole survivor! He better watch his step, he's in danger. Because some jokes that hare hit or miss persist regardless. Pffft! I didn't find a picture of a lance from Berwick, so I went "Hmm, what else is a Lance..." Makes sense. As an aside, I had never used the tool I used to stretch Lance before, hence the hatchet job that makes him kinda look like a polearm. It looks good. I mean, for what it is. Like I needed reminding. Hah! If only some other lordling's son would have been much better. Reese is the only option. I can't help but remember that one dragon from the series of books that knocked off Star Wars and proceeded to give us a movie so bad it killed any future sequels on its own. Keep in mind I don't hate that series, just that one of the main characters has that name. I've no idea what you're talking about. SO WILL I SHOUT IT LIKE THIS THEN MAGGOT SAPHIRA? Please tone it down a little sir Reese. That's battlefield Reese for ya. It's where he unleashes all of his emotions. And they're all negative. Then if I must I will do so for you at your request. With relish. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PARAMYTHIS REMOVE THIS FIEND FROM MY SIGHT AT ONCE ...Case in point. Huh. At least that's another unit you can be less scared of losing. For a time. Yeah, but no longer. Now... I'm not sure if I'll dare deploy her, to be honest. I mean, Owen's survived the entire game, but... Not when you've turned off her casual mode! I like how you changed profile pics in the middle of writing this post. To a far better one, I might add. He couldn't have heard that name before from somewhere else could he? This is the land of anime. No such thing as two people sharing the same name. Heavy is the head that wears the shade. Heavy is the sass. It strikes its victims like a sledgehammer. Huh, guess that takes care of that. Perceval's sister was right under his nose and he didn't notice for nearly a year. A good summary. After Enid being confirmed to not be his sister, I got to thinking it wouldn't be a playable character. Sidhe could have been the sibling, could have been someone else important, but nah, just cross the two and be done with both threads I guess. That's a good answer. It's definitely quite efficient. Just out of curiousity, did you have your money on any particular NPC? Making up for lost time with someone so close, eh? Would you stop that Lady Tianna? I hope she doesn't, this is great. Sometimes, trash gets you some way to knowing cursed knowledge like Reese's laugh. That's regular Reese laugh, yes. What's his battlefield laugh, though...? Well, there we have it. Perceval's adopted! Yes he is! So, Ferianne makes Enid/Perceval have the same mother without them knowing. Yes, it does make them step-siblings. Onii-chans, if you will. I just butchered the Japanese language, haven't I? Considering she was royalty, I can only assume she's smiling with her thumb up approving of it. Oh, God... I'm pretty sure he'd be able to actually buy something with that money. How many Derricks would it amount to? I myself don't have much of a reason for it, but I guess we're doing that now. It's a theme. It's the theme of Owen's character arc, at least. Reese wants you! I mean, it fits everything of this scene, I don't have anything else to add. Yeah, it's a scene that speaks for itself. Why so limited? Because Kaga is still Kaga even at his best. Kaga never lets us have fun with status. Unless you're someone like Tina I guess, the psycho she is. I don't know, Tina was pretty much only good for her personal staves from my experience. Which, don't get me wrong, they're awesome, but still... For everything else, other units were better. That's the spirit! .....And that's the Sacaen Inverse Gin gone, but what harm in festivities at a great time like this! I have to wonder how "Sacaen Inverse" gin tastes. Psychedelic? How would that even be like...? .....I made it weird didn't it? Yup. Ward just putting women in cages now, #Berwick'sfucked. Oh, dear... I suspect she'd just be walking around too, I doubt he'd actually lock her in there. Probably not, but serving two masters at once would be a bit too much workload for her pay, no? It's not exactly my kink, but honestly it's better than some of Erzheimer's requests. Why, Dayni? There was no reason to write such a thing. I guess that if he didn't Reese would ask why there's a woman not named Tianna in the area behind his desk. Yeah, but Ward could've introduced her to the gang instead of just leaving her there. Where even is he? Off getting drunk with Erzheimer? That's some nice shielding right there. Yes. Also, I still find it weird that there's units who can use Medium/Large shields but are also not able to wield smaller shields, you'd think it's a similar enough fundamental that they'd have some ability with them. Ward isn't interested in shields that cannot cover his entire beard. Poor Clara, shoved into Tianna's spare room. The one that's been gathering dust for months now. I mean, you should have seen this coming. It's personal..... but not that personal, she likes those bags thank you. Hmph... I suspect it's a massive bastardisation of Cordoba. That's Aethin's theory too. I just wanted to point out that the bastardization turned him into Fatva. Piers really making himself out to be a spineless monster by doing so willingly. There's sadism and then there's Piers apparently. Yeah, good job characterizing a villain in one cutscene. Once again, Jeanne D'Arc vibes are not a good thing here. Also, Cassandra's 3H Catherine's name from before she joined the knights. And there's a Cassandra and a Catherine in this game. Hmmm... Well, in this case they're common enough names that I can believe it's a mere coincidence. At least it's not like Arthur's dad being Harold. That one is too much. You don't have to meet the fourth cardinal, he could be minding the emperor until he died just now. I mean, he kind of is minding a world leader. Just... not that one. Well, Raze going into internal schisms, how convenient. And any time a baby's being given an empire it's never a good sign, the emperor's an idiot. And why did he do it exactly? What did Faisal of all idiots do to piss emperor idiot off? Actually, Manaris is the rightful heir. He's the first-born son of Emperor Kleiman. Faisal is only his nephew. Then there's also the fact that Faisal's petty and narcissistic. You know, not unlike a certain other long-haired member of royalty. These are qualities that perhaps the Emperor doesn't quite like. And please don't forget that Urbanus will have to confirm the babe's dead, so make sure it's been adequately done in. Zephyrus better hope that he's not going to face someone competent in protecting his nephew. We'll see. Have some patience. That's my shtick Jacharam, please stay in your lane I thought this guy's shtick is being so much of a dick that even his allies hate him. He's the Gharnef of this game to Chaos's Medeus apparently. In a way. Although Jacharam definitely outranks Chaos. I guess Jacharam just said he wouldn't hesitate and called Chaos a bitch, I'll say I'm mildly impressed. It's more than anyone else has managed, to the man's credit. I decided to leave this breaking news to afterwards, but thinking that Jacharam was kinda Gharnef like made me think again. And he reminds me of someone...... ..... I thought it was obvious enough that it wasn't necessary to compare the two images side-by-side. Or are you just doing this for dramatic effect? I- I FUCKING CALLED IT! Yeah, it's probably dramatic effect. Warping is in this game, you cannot deny it! I mean, even if warping wasn't in this game, it'd be pretty difficult to deny when their face is literally the same. I KNEW IT! FIRST! FUCKING! SECOND! WOOOOOO! SUCK ON THAT JACHERNEF! I won't lie, I've spent the entire game grinning every time you called him Gharnef. Because you were completely right, Dayni. Congratulations. Surprisingly not treating the person as an idiot. Did Volcens get character development? No... Not quite. That is a little too convenient. Wanting her to be the representative is the real red flag, taking only some of the territory is fine on paper if you know you can steamroll them in future. Yes, you just summarized what might very well be their plan. Well, Bernard's not being asked to go, fair is fair. To be fair, Bernard can't work without an army. Given how everyone's talking about Lynette and not him, I imagine morale would be destroyed if she was killed. The real question is, where in blazes is Bernard? Oh Hernef work the shaft! Volcens really is a simple man. It's a pity he was let get to this point, but here we are. I have to wonder what kind of ruler he would've been, if he'd kept better company than Herman. But, more on that later. I've a few words I'd like to say about Volcyboy, but they'll have to wait until the final chapter. Well that could have been better, you're trying to make an armistice but there's no temporary truse? Yes and no. I think the implication here is that Volcyboy and company are trying to get Reese to kill himself against Raze's forces before there's time to begin a truce. After Vanmilion's defeat, they sent Roswick to the fray as well, knowing that both being in danger would be reason enough for Reese to haul ass to the frontlines and do something reckless. Which is... exactly what's happened, actually. All in all, it is... all sorts of fucked up, but a good plan nonetheless. I wonder who came up with it. Eh... Probably Padolf. Volcen, you are going to have marshmallow for brains when your head's broken open aren't you? Don't insult marshmallow, please. Humility from Volcens is a weird one. Too weird. Reese seems like someone Volcens would just say "Screw you Orphan!" and before Reese could retort he'd walk off. I mean, didn't he already storm off the room in the middle of a conversation once? Only the one getting roasted then was himself. By his sister. @The_HerMAN!: I am feeling strange emotions. On the one hand Reese could die. On the other hand I am surrounded by such idiots that victory would ring hollow if it finally happened. He also could live, which would suck. Herman is in quite the predicament. The only one who is allows to be on their knees to me is Bernard! ................. I know what I said. Let's not kid ourselves. Sienna is an obvious top. Also: @SienaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA: All in my kingdom shall see their fellow man for who they are regardless of status. People, you bow to noone. Except you Bernard, you know what time it is. 🙊👏😈 I like how you made the same joke twice. But it's all right, I liked it both times. We're open so long as he's shut off by the war. Good answer. I mean, I don't even know where he is at the moment. That's S. Kaga for ya. I know what you'll say the moment it does..... Hell that could be part of a plot, all three swords being required for something or other. No, actually. They're all unrelated. Only connection between them is that Reese has two as his personals. Huh, wonder who that was? A twist that was revealed in the immediately next scene. Idiocy is apparently a desirable trait in Berwick if it's this contagious. BERWICK WAS ALWAYS FUCKED. Jikes... Well, that was certainly bad timing. Excuse me, considering she's going to die if she goes, maybe I can stop it. Lynette? What is it- FINALLY. MY TIME HAS ARRIVED! LYNETTE, Reveal hidden contents (I am sorry for using that sprite for it, but injured sprite option fit.) The fact that this happened exactly when you got the Webber profile pic is glorious. Like, that fucker has no business sending anyone to horny jail. The war effort I suppose, but the letter could have gotten to Narvia in advance. Or maybe not, there's a lot going on that it might not have. She's been at it for three months, the stress could have been enough to distract from it for sure. I guess, but still... NOW you're playing with power, +15 is stupidly good in this game. This thing is going to see a ton of use isn't it? You bet! Also, this might make no sense to you, but I can't unhear that name here. It makes sense enough. You could say they would have caused you to foal to get to here otherwise. Never enter this establishment again. Come now, Carmal. There's been worse said in this thread. The Jugud forests could still be a thing, it's not like Lieberia sank into the sea or anything. I still want my racist Jugudi to have messed things up somehow, is they any way to confirm they moved to Lazberia? These extremist Razites do feel like they'd be Jugudi racists, what with their whole "eradicate all the Verians" nonsense. You finally got me to pick a profile pic that you wanted. Hope you like it. I love it. On 11/30/2020 at 11:59 AM, Aethin said: Hide contents Bernard trying to hold the Berwick League together like: why can't I hold all this Berwick League? Inaccurate, Sienna should be in the background holding Bernard. 8/10 would sit in jail waiting for death again. Ahhhh... All right, then. I like how the northern lands are just called... Well, Northern Lands. I can't recall if I've posted this before, so now's my last chance: your Albatross will make a fine addition to my collection I believe you have, because I made this as a response: Soon, once we reach Chapter 14, I'll be able to post what is perhaps my proudest shitposting edit. Oh, boy. お楽しみにしてくださいね~ Happy thanksgiving to you too! ...Not that thanksgiving is a thing where live, but... On 12/1/2020 at 3:12 PM, The Roger The Paladin said: Hide contents I could spell it "Alcamus" if you want. Easy edit. That works, I guess...? But no, that doesn't make sense. He died. If that was his name, he would've instead floated to a different continent. Unless... Maybe he's like a sea star! He regenerates when he breaks. So that means, the two halves of Almachus fell to the sea, and each floated to a different continent... Which means all Gharnefs are Almachus. There we go, today's dumb theory. The kind where there were enough beds in the room for 5 people, so my parents decided "hey you're the oldest. You sleep in this thing we brought for a damn week". Irony is these days, I can sleep anywhere. But not then. Jesus... That is unfortunate. Maybe wanted posters from bounties. Pfffft! I still remember the theories... I don't know. I'm back on the anti-biotics. Sheesh... Watch yourself, man. You're speaking as if the human currently challenging Berwick Saga's AI is any better. For a serious answer, well, AI is hard. Even today, a truly intelligent and unpredictable AI is difficult to pull off. Perceval missing the chance to die. Good ol' Perceval flexing his talents. I want to finish commenting on the update.... but the weather here is making it difficult. I think it's affecting my wi-fi speed. If note, it's certainly affecting me. Be assured I've read it... just not the next one with the aftermath. Yet. Don't worry too much about it. 15 hours ago, BrightBow said: I was just making a reference to Captain Marvel / Shazam. You know, little Billy Batson shouts Shazam!, gets hit by lightning and transforms into a big beefcake. Pretty much what happened here, so it seemed appropriate. Oh. Well, I mean, I think I've made it clear before how I've never been much of a guy for western superheroes. I don't even know who Billy Batson is... Though he does sound like he wouldn't bat an eye at much of anything. Hide contents It's not even the only time she does it. Really should have just been given that as an ability. Would be a nice failsafe too, seeing how relevant countering Berserk is on those final maps. I mean, there are only two Purification Orbs. The first one is tied to a suicidal chapter 3 priest, the second requires crafting. Oh yeah, now that you mention it, there really is no way to counter berserk that is entirely foolproof. Would've been nice. But at least you don't lose the inventories of dead units. With the amount of rare gear that this game offers, I'm honestly glad that isn't the case. Lebough yet again implying Reese is inherently special. Doesn't lead anywhere, though. Also weird how that whole thing about the Apostle is utterly inconsequential in the end. Reese is special in that he's the most talented man in the continent at feeling nothing. Reese the Stonehearted, they called him. Maybe the idea was to have a second game that would revolve around the truth behind Lazberia's mythology. I mean, that's basically what Radiant Dawn did. If only Berwick Saga had gotten 16 sequels instead of Fire Emblem 1. Well, that's another one for the pile. Eyup. I do wonder what Madam Quescria "rescuing" someone from slavers looks like, though. Did she go Eyvel on their asses? I'm a healer but... some afflictions only death can cure. She's Lebough's second-in-command. I would imagine she's a capable fighter if she needs to be. Just not a match for Rasputin, like him, apparently. That's convenient. Since I'm not sure how to pronounce Sidhe. Seed-hee is how I always said it, but I'm probably wrong. And count your lucky stars. In an early beta patch, he was called Siydd. Utterly unreadable, I tell you. I get not giving him access to those broken Dark Orbs. But not allowing him to gain EXP and capping his dark skill at 0 is pretty weird. Not like he would suddenly go Nosferatu tanking if he were more accurate. That is true. But, to be honest, the only dark orb I care much about is darkmend. So he just kinda dumped her in the storage room and went on his way? Pretty much how he treated Christine then, I suppose. Pffft... Personally I wouldn't have imagined be would be a fan of slavery. Oh well... If he was a fan of slavery he would've chained her up. I think it's more likely that he just didn't know what to do with her, so he just... sort of stuffed her in the vault and called it a day. Not sure what he means by Jacharam using Faisal. Jacharam probably intends to have him ascend the throne as a mere puppet ruler, that the Church may use him to rule as they see fit until they can eventually replace him with ease. Faisal is an even more narcissistic Volcens, and Jacharam has practice stroking royal egos. It would be easy to pull off. Well, smol Sienne has three facial expressions. Besides the numbers, the rest of the statement is still correct, though. Yeah, yeah. I meant to point out that Lynette has expressions at all, like smol Sienna did. And if they don't hold up their end of the bargain, who is going to hold them accountable? The kingdom of Terabithia or something? Volcens really doesn't think things through, does he? One would hope the king of Veria would be aware enough about the Empire's internal affairs to suspect Faisal is just looking for an opening for an uninterrupted retreat. But it's Volcens. Guy probably needs people to read reports for him, and still won't be paying attention unless each line says "King Volcens" at least twice. And then he'd still forget everything afterwards. Bold of you to assume that he would sit through the entire reports. Now sure how he and Lynette didn't meet each other at the entrance. Well, maybe Volcens was just napping for 20 minutes or so. Maybe they did meet, but Lynette was too busy dropping her panties to speak, and Reese didn't recognize her. Because why would he? He's the coldest man in the continent. Lynette ceased to be a concept in his mind when she stopped sending money. ...but you just said "Cassandra, we should be going". True enough. Perhaps that could be considered a mistake. Well, it's minor enough. Lynette's puny sister sword can't compete with Sienne's savage saber. Only in availability. Only in availability. I wonder how much it repairs itself. The orbs all restore themselves by 20% each chapter, so my guess it's the same amount for the sword. I imagine it's probably one durability level per map. Either way, I've never seen it drop to green durability. How? I've used it enough for yellow in the past. Somehow I didn't realize until my 3rd run that those horses don't actually end up in anyone's inventory, so I didn't have to worry about how many an individual character picks up. It's an easy mistake to make. Don't worry about it. Next time on Berwick Saga: Reveal hidden contents Don't remind me... 7 hours ago, Dayni said: I'm thinking like Caeda (Sea-de). Just to let that argument continue. Where'd that come from? I figured it would be something like Seed-hee. ...Then again, Sidhe is a name from Irish mythology. For all I know it's supposed to be pronounced "shinehoe." 13 hours ago, Golb89 said: [Bonus] Hide contents I think this is the first time that your Arknights spam has ever made me feel happy. I went from polite interest, to confusion, to tiredness, to anger. I've even laughed a couple of times, credit where credit is due. But this is the first time anything you've sent has made me feel... happy. I mean, it's still completely off-topic and irrelevant, and it has no place in a thread about Berwick Saga, just like all the rest of the Arknights spam. But... This made me grin, at least. So thank you for sharing this piece of information with me. I'm glad I still give your posts the occasional glance, despite the fact that they only make me sigh and scowl most of the time. I wouldn't have wanted to miss something so satisfying. Congratulations, Golb: At this point I am so sick of Arknights that watching it fail makes me happy, and it's entirely your fault. Without you, I never would've known that it even existed. Thanks to you and your obnoxious, relentless pestering, however, I utterly despise it. Good work. ...Well, in any case. I've looked it up, and the Spongebob game is utter, scummy garbage. Unsurprising, considering it's a mobile-exclusive game. But y'know what? It's marginally less scummy than the two gachas it beat, simply because it is not a gacha. Good enough for me, it deserves that win. I have no idea!: Spoiler A couple things before the battle. I had the choice between this orb and another thing. It's a pretty cool orb. Only ranged fire orb, with cool animations to go with it. Quite neat. However... I decided to instead make this for Faye. And then this, too, why the heck not. Silent city of Baston. About to become less silent. Museck. We will keep the Imperial Army at bay while you make your retreat. I cannot let you do that. We will stay and fight as well. The Duke has been wounded. You have an obligation to escort him safely back to Navaron. Please, leave this battle to me. The Imperial army that is marching here numbers over ten thousand! You cannot hope to fight them with only five hundred, let alone win! We do not need to win. We only need to buy time. ...Once you return to Navaron, please join forces with Lord Vester and make preparations to defend the city. But Lord Reese... You can't mean to do this...! Do what? Engage in a suicide mission? Pfeh... Haven't you been here all game, Vanmilion? This is what we do best! I am only sorry that I cannot repay my debt to you fully. Don't be foolish! It is I who owes you a great debt, not the other way around! Lord Reese... After I bring my father home, I will come back for you. I swear it. So please, hold on until then! I order you---You must survive! Map theme. Okay, so... Today's team. All three of my favorites are coming today. I point this out because I am terrified for their lives. Really, everyone coming to this map is in danger, for reasons that I shall explain soon enough. Today's map has us defending five forts scattered about the city of Baston. However, we're really only going to have to defend three of them. Burroughs, Ruby and Paramythis are standing on them. The other two are behind Burroughs's fort, so they'll be defended together. On the other hand, they only need to take one and we lose. That's not very nice. 15 turns is the deadline, although... This is a misleading number. You'll see why later. This map is for the most part rather easy, until the game pulls a surprise on you and suddenly your entire army dies. I... have no idea how I will handle that, if I'm being honest. We'll see. On the matter of side objectives, we've got four horses on the map. Three of them are in a fenced area, and they'll be easily recovered. The other one, however, pretty much must be recovered on turn 1, because otherwise the enemies will take it with ease. A ballista will appear much later into the map, and upon killing it, we'll get the parts for Danton. There's also grey homes to keep Axel occupied. For tactics points, it's quite easy - we just have to kill the boss for a point, clear the map for another. Only two points today, yes. Berwick is a fickle game, like that. The boss is not Conan the Barbarian, but rather Conan the General. There isn't a reason in hell for us to go after him. He drops nothing, this is far too late to be wanting experience, and Reese has long since promoted. I've killed him in the past, even captured him, but I won't dare try in this run, where I risk losing the lives of my troops. So yeah. He and his shitty-ass mustache will live to tell the tale. Probably. Press start to play. This city has five small forts in it. If we take even one, we can break their formation with ease. Ranch? Oh, that one there? Why, what's special 'bout it? The horses---look at their coats! Those are Liga coursers! You serious? Those puny little foals? Yeah, there's no mistaking it. Just one of 'em would be worth a small fortune! C'mon, wanna go catch 'em? Well... ...Let's hold off until later. Yeah, we'll go when there's a break in the battle... All the stuff I already said. Hohoho... I think Faye's going to solo this side of the map. Starting with this poor guy. The neat thing about this map is that the AI is really predictable. For some reason they like moving these cliff guys first of all. Horse 1 of 4 is Paramythis's. She'll dash back to the fort next turn. Derrick picks up the second horse. Two more to go! That's the entire northern squad moved. You know... It looks really imposing, but you can use the cliffs against them. Or, you know, you could, if you put better troops in charge of the northern defense than Ruby and an archer. Also, the enemies are just running past Faye because they can't hit her. I did not think this through. Well, whatever. Let's have Burroughs help. Ahhh, good thing you can count on the crossbowmen to press their luck! Oh yeah, that 3% chance sure was worth trying. Woooo! Woooo! x2 Problem now is, this guy reaches Burroughs. Okay, that can be fixed. Let's give converting to the church of Roze a shot. All right, cool! 5 range heals are good in any map, but more so this one. From the middle of the map, Owen can cover the entire team. It's great. Uhhh... Tempting. But I think Adel'll be needed up north. Doesn't look bad. Come turn 2, Burroughs finishes what he started. He's safe now! These guys are close now, though...! Oof... I mean, 33% chance to die, but... Yahoooooooo! It worked! The crapshot worked! And she can just canto straight back to the fort. This woman is wonderful. The first person I want out of commission is this priest. He has Vantage, Prepared and an orb. He's gotta go. And go he shall. Not to worry, I will move her first thing next turn. Also not to worry. I checked, she's faster than him. See? And now, back to protecting the fort. Faye uses Sunder to deliver the shittiest crit ever, requiring a second swing to finish. Hahahah... Look at that beauty, though! Four enemies remain! This brings a new meaning to the expression "clean house"! Ward begins to work on one of those four. You'll try that again? Suit yourself. I'm fine so long as you fail. Which you did. Whoopsie! If she gets 5 more points, she'll get innate crit. Isn't that amazing? Not really. It's so late. Look! Derrick at work! Hahah, Derrick! Pictured: Ruben changing his mind because he's an idiot. Both the upper side and the lower side are in a desperate need of help, and I'm afraid there's only one Adel. So the result is that my brain bugs out as though a bad AI it were, and Adel runs in circles. Ohohohohohohohohoh... Hohohohoh! Nothung, ladies and gentlemen. Just, uh... Short of one-shotting this rando. ...Well, still. That's a guy with a shield. Pretty sure the only other things we've seen that can one-shot these guys are Adel and Pallas Leia. Oh, and Pulverize, but that requires more finesse to set up. Whatever. Larentia can grab a horse on her way back. Y'know, I just realized, she's flying. Where's she stuffing the thing...? And that's it, turn 3 is upon us! First off, Sylvis has to dive for cover. ...Uhh... I don't know, I'm kinda regretting my decisions here. Not bad. Not bad either, but those crossbowmen, man... Is she really up to the task? OH MY GOD that has to go right this second. Die, die, die! Die four times over! Flee here, now. At least Ruby's doing a good job of dodgetanking... But with that damage, she won't be killing these soldiers in a hurry. Hmph... Hoo... Oh my God... LOOK! DERRICK GOT TWO KILLS IN ONE MAP! Ahhhh there's what I was expecting... Hahahaha...! Yes! Nothung! The damage is so chunky that the message doesn't fit! Uhhh, dinero! Ward is in charge of taking the final horse. All four horses have the same description. Burroughs has nothing more to do there. He needs to help with the other flank. Go! Can we get at least one kill? Oh, please... Ah! Go, go, go! Fly faster, Larentia! I know we've had our differences in the past, but we need your help desperately! As we did... last map... and we probably will next map too... And I mean, technically the Alvina incident was entirely my fault... Uhh... ...Well, hey. At least you're not dead. You can be glad about that. Can't say the same for all those other people. Including the one you killed-- Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Those are Faye numbers, man. And she doesn't have the Faye-charm. This woman, man. I swear. If she had more availability she'd get a shrine in my bedroom. Right next to Sylvis's. ...And Eugen's. Ahem. Hwahahahahah... It was a good idea to buy her a lady sword. She's putting that 33% crit to good use! Owen has to step closer, though. He's just short of being able to heal that group. Take a gander at that heal range, though. That looks like GBAFE staff range, for fuck's sake! ...Ghhh...! Hwaaaaaaaaah! Ahahahahahahahahah! We won! Adel won! He continues to be utterly blessed! I love you. At this rate she's going to catch up to Reese in sword skill! That'd be hilarious. Look, I've actually thought a move through for once! Axel is going to toss a hatchet at this guy. Yeah, there we go. And now, since he has a range 1 weapon equipped... ...He can retaliate against this fellow! Brilliant! A crit would've been the cherry on top of the pie. Oh, well. Another crossbowman. This one only has a brave crossbow. I still want him gone. Go to Hell. Awww, speed only? You break my heart, Paramythis... But no matter. Fortify level achieved! Okay, back to the fort with you. ...Hoo, boy... This side is a complete mess, though... Please help with an Overwatch, Sylvis. I already regret doing that. Oh yeah, she's uncovered now. And within reACH OF THAT THING NOOOAAHAHARARANRHAHGAHHAAAHAARAAHAGHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA We are in a desperate need for help. Oh, fuck off... Okay, okay. That's good. That's good, that's great, that's fuckin' marvelous. There's only one hex left from which the killer guy can attack Sylvis, and one of the other crossbowmen will move first and take it. Wonderful. She lives. This turn, at least. Not entirely sure what I'm going to do from here... Here's the plan for the lower side. First, Adel will lance a dude. Great! I think Para can double and kill him with the holy sword now. Oh, please...! Ruby! There's a slim chance that this doesn't work. Of course, that unlikely event proceeds to happen. And then this happened. And then I panicked and hurried to save Paramythis life, ignoring the gaping hole in our formation. And then we lost. What a sad, pathetic display. That could not have been handled any worse. And the only excuse I have is that I was feeling slightly more tired than usual when I played this. Okay, so this might come across as rather cheaty, but, uh... I've made a couple of changes to the formation. Ruby replaces Faye down south, and Sylvis is now up there. My idea is to let Faye handle the entire upper army. She's awesome enough to pull it off, and that way we'll have some more assets to utilize in the other flanks. Yeah, yeah, whatever. You know, this also undoes Burroughs's crippling, and since there are no more maps in this chapter, there's no way to penalize myself. Well, beyond putting him in the cripple count. That thing's been gathering dust since the prison break mission. Oh yeah, this already feels like a better idea. The lower team is a lot less of an issue than the upper one. Only Faye can handle that insanity alone. Can you guess what happens to this guy? Horses. Worth a shot? It's not like Faye needs help. Hurray! And he got a point too! And another one gone down! ...This is a bit of an issue, though. Burroughs is in range of a guy. Cover him, Ward! Oho, the fool decided to go after Derrick? That was a huge mistake... Heh heh heh... What a powerhouse! The mighty Derrick remains unscathed! Unfazed by the enemy's feeble aggression! Those 5000 men can come any time and face this monster of a warrior! Awww, c'mon! Buff myrmidon is just one point short of one-shotting a mage with the zweihander! Well, no matter. Marcel's spirit lives on in this sword. You know, the spirit of the man who more or less called a kidnapping victim "whore". You think it's poetic justice that his blade is being used by a woman better than he ever did? There's another positive to Ruby going south that I didn't realize - she has Axebane, so she's great against the southern axemen. Wonderful! She doesn't have Arrowbane, but apparently she doesn't need it. Ahah! Say your prayers, pesky crossbowman. Your end is nigh! Uhh, look at that slick damage message! Whatever has happened here? Well... Something happened between my first attempt and the second. This is but one of the slight differences you might notice here and there. See if you can find any more! There's at least one other thing you might find in this update. Imaginary cookies for the discerning eye! Horse 3. That looks manageable enough. The archer could be a problem for Burroughs, though... Faye, back to the fort. Imagine getting backcapped. Hah! Please no. Wohohohohohoho... Awwww, 1 HP again... Can this work? Is it too much to ask? Son of a b-- Whoa! What happened to Ward's arm there?! He gained a sort of, blade gauntlet! Next up, this side. Like last time, I want the chu-ko-nu to go away fast. Awesome. This archer too, before he can attack Burroughs. Unfortunately, our friend the D is still here. Unfortunately for everyone else, I mean. I'm not trying to brag or anything, but I swear, I've never had problems with this D. Feels like I'm the only one, too! What gives? In any case... ...! Gasp! A crit! It wasn't enough to save Burroughs from this entirely unrelated enemy, of course, but... A crit! Okay, Owen, you're up. Or, you know... I can waste a vulnerary instead. That works too. Okay, no, but really. In this case, I was going to need both heals. In fact, I'm not sure how Burroughs survived that. Another enemy took the crossbowman's turn. If they had both attacked one after the other, that would've been it. Well, it's not like it happened, so let's not dwell. Let's instead enjoy the sight of Ruby failing. Let's get better shots of darkmend, now that I'm not panicking. It's... honestly prettier than physic. I dig the purple. Oh, c'mon, not again... Derrick's been on horse saving duty this time, instead of fighting. A shame. But I mean, it's already enough that I've found an unironic use for Derrick in the third-to-last map. Unfortunately, he would be completely useless in chapter 14, but... Heheh... You can bet I'm bringing him to the final map! No-- Oh, c'mon! Double whiff, really? Sheesh, that holy sword really is unreliable... We are in a dire need for help down here. Bust out the killer axe! Oh, God... Kwaaaaaaahhh! Oh, for crying out loud... We got that horse three maps ago! ...Oh no. Oh no! OOOHHHH NOOOOOO-- I mean, the chance of death was minimal, especially with Shieldfaire. But I'm no stranger to that kind of death. Heal, please, before I suffer a stroke. Okay, turn 4. While the enemy is still busy moving the upper army, we should probably deal with the enemies harrassing Burroughs. Uhh, injury! Too bad he died. Awwww... Same issue again. They're trying to walk past Faye. 94 is a pretty good hitrate. Have at you, enemy! You've got to be kidding me, Ward. Larentia finishes the crossbowman. And Ruby... Tries to finish Ward's job. But she botches it up as well. Nice. It took three people to down this scrub. Unbelievable... That's kinda crap, but I mean... Sure. All right, so here's the deal. I have a new plan to deal with this flank. First, Adel will equip the lightest spear he has. Then, he will use throw to inflict chip damage on this guy, promptly returning to his regular weapon. And now we wait. ...Well, okay, not quite. This bastard could murder my units. He's gotta go. I love the Tabarzin, man. Guy lost grip of his crossbow after the first strike, that's why he looks like he's doing a derpy dance as he dies. Heheheheheh... Just like old times, eh Adel? Burroughs, please retreat a bit. D'oh-- I should've seen this coming. They'd rather go after Axel. He could've died if he got hit by that. Just a fun fact. You'd think she has 80% crit or something. She's more fucking reliable than the assassins! Goodness! ...Oh, yeah. This is terrible. This is friggin' horrible. Thankfully, Lady Luck is on my side for once, and Axel's life is spared. Ciel must be praying for him... ...Oh my God, if he hadn't dodged that 54 he would've died. Why am I the most incompetent tactician ever... Not him, man! I can't lose him! Not when we're this close to the end...! Heck, I've half a mind to not deploy him for the final two maps just so he's safe... But I'm going to need him... Ooowwwgh...! Oh, please... Okay, so this is ridiculous, but the zanbato is so heavy that it gives the enemies a small chance to hit Faye. So we're going to use the zanbato against enemies without horses. Hah! And they told me this weapon was useless when I bought it. Faye's going to solo that entire army. Arcturus massacring 30-something paladins suddenly doesn't sound that fantastic. ...Well, actually, it's still rather fantastic, because we've seen his stats, and lemme tell you, he ain't Faye. Some dark heals for Ruby. Now, with haste, let us defeat this man. That's a lot more reliable than Paramythis with either of her swords, funnily enough. Finally, that menace is down. And we got his shield, too! Oh, yeah... The plan is working like a charm. The zanbato is just heavy enough that they can hit her, but not all too reliably. I mean, I could've unequipped the dusk charm to achieve the same effect with a better blade, but... Okay, I'll be honest - the charm has become so much a part of her in my mind that I didn't even realize that was a possibility. Ran to heal, eh? Works for me. It's been too long since we last had a Pulverizing. I don't think I've mentioned it, but Perceval gave the dawn charm to Axel for this battle. That's why his hitrates are awesome. Bwahahahahah! Satisfying as ever! Uhhh, a level! Nothing all too special, but I'd like to point out that he can now use the hammer. That's going to make him quite the asset in the final map. Another man falls to Faye. More to go. Healing for Axel. You know, I think we're sleeping on Faye a bit. We're always "Adel promotes" this, "Sherlock's redemption arc" that, but look at Faye! At first she could barely do anything. A few chapters ago she was being used as living bait. Now she's solo'ing a full-on army. She's enemy-phasing in Berwick Saga! Color me impressed, girl! G-Gaah! Aurgh...! That woman! She's more monster than human! Is there none among us who can be a match for her!? ...... Hey, you! You joined only yesterday! You're said to be a master of the spear, second to none, right? Fight her! ...Hmph. Stand aside. It's so frustrating that Reese keeps leaving people at 1 HP with the Nothung. Oh-- Oh, c'mon! What?! Are you serious? She got hit by one of those awful hitrates? And injured, too! Just after I was done praising her... ...... Urgh! You... I did not think any of you could possibly touch me! Who are you? ...You're a dead woman. My name doesn't matter to you. ...You remind me of a friend... Tell me, do you have any lady friends that you constantly save from death? My only friend is my spear. ...O-Okay... I suppose I should get serious, then. Time to go back to the real swords. You see, the crossbowmen have better accuracy. They'll be able to shoot her even without the zanbato, and as you can see, she's going to need the extra avoid. Probably would've been wiser to heal her while at it, too. Instead, we'll have to rely on her dodging abilities. A-Aaauurgh...! Ow... It's... Over for me... Hey... If you live... Please tell my wife I... love her... ...Hmph. I've no time for the likes of you, puny man. ...J-Jackass... Not a great idea, but... It worked out in my favor. Wha-- Defense? Really? Same story once more. Finally... Oh God... There he is. The biggest problem in our hands. If she survives that, she's golden. Take this, my killer crossbow!! Yes! She's golden indeed! Even though in that first screenshot it looks like the bolt is flying straight into her eye! But I... wasn't the one who was supposed to... take anything today... Let's celebrate by having Ruby kill a guy. Also, Burroughs turns around. And it's turn 6! First of all, this guy has got to go. No questions asked. There is none but him that can truly threaten Faye. I'm Perceval today, apparently. I'm too fond of the emulator's speed-up function. That's how I keep missing all sorts of prompts. We're on a tight schedule, Axel. Get searching! Oh yeah, that's going to work out well for ya. Buh-byeeee! A material. Cool. Hah! Yeah, 'cause that worked so well last time - and she had a heavier weapon last time, too! Ahh, Burroughs can help! But I want to wait and see if anyone will attempt to cross the river. ...Doesn't seem like it. Well then. It's your time, spearman. ...Or not, because I decided I wanted to reposition Burroughs instead. Sure, whatever you say, past me. Cutting it close, but as long as they can't reach Owen, all is well. Oh look. More friends for Faye to play with. No matter. Let's equip the zanbato again. Can I get a Sunder crit, Faye? Hey, it's an injury, at least. And now, for some more of this fun... Axel, haul ass northeast! Don't forget that it was one of these that hit Faye earlier. How is beyond me. ...Okay, no, that explains it. It has to have been this guy. Let me go back and check... Heh... You fight well, for a woman. But can you withstand... My secret technique? No man has survived this move before... Secret technique? You fight just as any of your peers... I'm not sure what you're talking-- SHUT UP! I AM SPECIAL! I AM MYSTERIOUS! I AM THE SILENT TYPE! I AM HANDSOME, TOO! SO WHY WON'T ANYONE LOVE ME!? ...Well, that took a turn-- Yep, he had the same HP-- Wait, what!? Again!? He pulled it off again! What kind of a monster...?! Ack! Eat your words, b*****. You think that will upset me? Please... What a menace that man is! A menace to the entire city! ...Literally, if Faye goes down, the fort will follow suit! Heh... You buffoons missed your chance. Now it's back to the slaughter! Their numbers are dwindling swiftly. Faye has come such a long way... Faramir is eating his condescending words from back then! And so she continues on. Chaos is so fucked! I'm going to have Reese take over Paramythis's fort-defending duties. He's tankier than her, thanks to shield access. ...Oh, boy. Horsemen. My favorite. You know the drill at this point. This one's dead, and that other spearman that keeps hitting her will go after Paramythis and die as well... We can call this a wrap for the first wave! Hmph... It seems I overestimated you. You are too cowardly to face me. Why don't you go play with someone else? Go on, shoo. Away with you. ....... You... Are you afraid to die? Make peace with-- All according to plan. Aaaaaaiiiiiiii! Nooo...! I-I mean... ...... That was so weird... It felt as if the Goddess put that guy there to spite a type of person that she dislikes, or something... Not me. Him. Hush! You can't reveal the secret! They'll never be able to understand...! ...? And with this... She can now fortify. Bad level, but who cares, really. Fortify on a horse! Again! I thought this kind of pay grade was reserved for assassins, priests and the like. Anyway, fort is secure once more. Uhh... Sylvis, set up an overwatch, why not. I'm not entirely sure what to do with you now, to be honest. First wave is officially over. On to the second now. Oh dear, more enemies. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Get out, get out, get out! Oaaahh! No! This looks familiar... I don't like it! This is exactly how Leon died...! Run! Burroughs, turn around again. We've got trouble incoming from behind. Hey, why didn't Reese get attacked? How peculiar... HOOOAAAH Ruben panics and commits a tactical blunder, part 584368836351348. We've been getting lucky crits from Paramythis all map. Can the end of her fortune streak be upon us? Nope. So far she's been in two maps and she's already well on her way to earning the title of luckiest unit in the game. Like, seriously, that assassin business was uncanny. More accuracy, nice. Fairly certain between Adel, Paramythis and Faye, they should be able to take care of those three enemies on the cliff. What's that priest doing? I don't get it. Why is it moving back? Maybe Larentia being so close is screwing with his AI. I am not complaining. The less sleep assholes we have to deal with, the better. Hoo, boy, speak of the devil... Well, actually, neither of those have sleep. In fact, they don't even have dark orbs at all. Raze priests fighting with Verian orbs? It's more likely than you'd think. ...Oh, come now, we can lose right this turn if Reese doesn't move immediately... Good thing there's nothing more urgent that we must do. Hah! Pathet-- ...Son of a bitch... No! My shining shield! You fucker! That does not suffice to compensate. Oh, of course, and he gets hit by that too... Fucking horsemen, I swear... Aaaarrghh, I hate you! I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! Heal up, Adel, and... Urgh... Ah, that's it. The horsemen have soured my mood for the rest of the day. Well, okay, not really, but we're a little over halfway through. I'm calling it quits right here. Next time, we finish this map. Then there'll only be two left... Huh. Almost there now... I wonder what I'll do next. I've got a couple of ideas, but by all means, feel free to suggest anything you want me to consider. In any case! Next time, I will hopefully see you again. Keep wishing me luck, and see you in update 88! Death count: Christine Esteban Czene Clifford Elbert Leon Marcel Arthur Alvina Faye x 4 * Unavailable Capture count: 2 (Daoud, Elbert) Cripple count: 2 (Perceval, Burroughs) Reset count: 10 (Reese: 2, Ward: 4, Abus: 2, Vester: 1, Baston Fort: 1) Current perfect streak: I beat 12-1 without deaths maps Best perfect streak: 6 maps Adel: Promoted. Punished Dayni
Spoiler 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Dangit, so close! I considered both shows, but for some reason that felt more like a joke Futurama would make to me. Not sure why I made that assumption, looking back. It might have been made a few years before Futurama started, the humour was a bit closer then too. 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: You're right... We keep talking about the starting team, but the meme squad is the real slaughter here. Perceval is the sole survivor! He better watch his step, he's in danger. Isn't Derrick a meme still? 35 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I like how you changed profile pics in the middle of writing this post. To a far better one, I might add. Paramythis turning off Saphira's training wheels was such a mistake I changed identity after it in shock 36 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Just out of curiousity, did you have your money on any particular NPC? Not really, it wasn't high on my priorities in terms of thoughts on this game. Thank some of the leading lights of this game's story for that. 37 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: That's regular Reese laugh, yes. What's his battlefield laugh, though...? Some secrets are better kept that way. 38 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I don't know, Tina was pretty much only good for her personal staves from my experience. Which, don't get me wrong, they're awesome, but still... For everything else, other units were better. My point was moreso Thracia staves, I know others are better than her. 39 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Why, Dayni? There was no reason to write such a thing. Because it was too late, to quote myself: On 11/30/2020 at 12:16 AM, Dayni said: .....I made it weird didn't I? I was doubling down. Also, I may have made the mistake of implying Erzheimer was asking for anything sex related, because 1. that was what I ended up saying without realising and 2. Erzheimer would probably never worry about such topics ever if he didn't have to, 3. Erzheimer would ask for other weird stuff anyways. Like looking into a set of Razite brushes owned by the wyrmspeaker of something. 40 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yeah, but Ward could've introduced her to the gang instead of just leaving her there. Where even is he? Off getting drunk with Erzheimer? Probably. 41 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ward isn't interested in shields that cannot cover his entire beard. That doesn't excuse the others, especially Martel. 41 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Actually, Manaris is the rightful heir. He's the first-born son of Emperor Kleiman. Faisal is only his nephew. Then there's also the fact that Faisal's petty and narcissistic. You know, not unlike a certain other long-haired member of royalty. These are qualities that perhaps the Emperor doesn't quite like. Rightful would be arguable in an elective inheritance. Thankfully for the emperor Primoginature was enforced. 42 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: In a way. Although Jacharam definitely outranks Chaos. Gharnef's plan was to overrule Medeus as he pleased in fairness. 42 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, even if warping wasn't in this game, it'd be pretty difficult to deny when their face is literally the same. Raze and Lane tho. 43 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I won't lie, I've spent the entire game grinning every time you called him Gharnef. Because you were completely right, Dayni. Congratulations. Herman mightn't have been so obvious if he was less of an ass about it before too, shame Jachernef really was lucky nobody in Veria wanted to look at Razite cardinals, his plan would have been shot otherwise. Also, Jacharam's name still doesn't make much sense to me. 43 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: To be fair, Bernard can't work without an army. Given how everyone's talking about Lynette and not him, I imagine morale would be destroyed if she was killed. The real question is, where in blazes is Bernard? Lynette's not as god tier as Seth though, so I assume she still needs an army as well. Bernard might still be on the boat. 43 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yes and no. I mean, it's apparent that's the implication of their actual plan. I'm saying that the lack of a truce is counterproductive to the armistice. 44 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, didn't he already storm off the room in the middle of a conversation once? Only the one getting roasted then was himself. By his sister. Hence the insult beforehand, he's preemptively laying the smackdown so he wins regardless of Reese's retort. 44 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Let's not kid ourselves. Sienna is an obvious top. As I made clear. 44 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: No, actually. They're all unrelated. Only connection between them is that Reese has two as his personals. I mean, imagine if a game made it part of their plot that all these weapons have to be gathered and they use these three as the reference. 45 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: The fact that this happened exactly when you got the Webber profile pic is glorious. Like, that fucker has no business sending anyone to horny jail. Honestly, it was all kind of a rush. Finally having Lynette in the game meant I could make the joke with her instead of crazy Reese, bot I didn't have a good a pfp. So what do I do? Get the Santa hat edit out of the way and pick one you insisted. I see this an an absolute win. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Come now, Carmal. There's been worse said in this thread. There's worse literally in that post! 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Where'd that come from? I figured it would be something like Seed-hee. ...Then again, Sidhe is a name from Irish mythology. For all I know it's supposed to be pronounced "shinehoe." The h being silent is how I get that pronounciation. Silent h does exist as gaelige. As do shinehoe, I can't think of a word that would be pronounced like that. (And the Scots pronounced those as Sith. Quite clearly they only thought there was two of them.) 48 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I decided to instead make this for Faye. RIPnid. 49 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: We do not need to win. Vanmillion, can implies there's a chance I can't. 49 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Today's map has us defending five forts scattered about the city of Baston. This map sounds brutal if you don't have a strong enough team. The massacre's going to be a thing to see isn't it? 51 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: That's the entire northern squad moved. You know... It looks really imposing, but you can use the cliffs against them. Or, you know, you could, if you put better troops in charge of the northern defense than Ruby and an archer. That right there is a scary amount to face with two units. 59 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Those are Faye numbers, man. And she doesn't have the Faye-charm. This woman, man. I swear. We got that horse three maps ago! ...Oh no. Oh no! OOOHHHH NOOOOOO-- I mean, the chance of death was minimal, especially with Shieldfaire. But I'm no stranger to that kind of death. Not as tough as advertised clearly. I'm disappointed in that horse. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I love the Tabarzin, man. He's clearly froze up without the crossbow to comfort him in the war. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...Oh my God, if he hadn't dodged that 54 he would've died. Why am I the most incompetent tactician ever... Not him, man! I can't lose him! Not when we're this close to the end...! Heck, I've half a mind to not deploy him for the final two maps just so he's safe... But I'm going to need him... Ooowwwgh...! Why is Axel still being left in danger? Are you acting like he's actually Azel? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Nothing all too special, but I'd like to point out that he can now use the hammer. That's going to make him quite the asset in the final map. Alright start. The hammertime. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: You know, I think we're sleeping on Faye a bit. Sleeping on her, more like I just comment on her levels because she just keeps getting more powerful. There's not much to say about cleaning up most of the generics. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...... Hey, you! You joined only yesterday! You're said to be a master of the spear, second to none, right? Fight her! ...Hmph. Stand aside. Volance? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Urgh! You... I did not think any of you could possibly touch me! Who are you? ...You're a dead woman. My name doesn't matter to you. ...You remind me of a friend... Tell me, do you have any lady friends that you constantly save from death? My only friend is my spear. I feel like we need a different term for this guy seeing as edgelord doesn't quite fit. Pricklord? 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I suppose I should get serious, then. Time to go back to the real swords. You see, the crossbowmen have better accuracy. They'll be able to shoot her even without the zanbato, and as you can see, she's going to need the extra avoid. Father, I was foolish not to go all out. I will return to the right way now. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Wha-- Defense? Really? TANKY FAYE! TANKY FAYE! 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yes! She's golden indeed! Even though in that first screenshot it looks like the bolt is flying straight into her eye! But I... wasn't the one who was supposed to... take anything today... The arrow must have surrendered when she stared it down. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Heh... You fight well, for a woman. But can you withstand... My secret technique? No man has survived this move before... You do realise I am no man right? That doesn't help your chances much. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Secret technique? You fight just as any of your peers... I'm not sure what you're talking-- SHUT UP! I AM SPECIAL! I AM MYSTERIOUS! I AM THE SILENT TYPE! I AM HANDSOME, TOO! SO WHY WON'T ANYONE LOVE ME!? ...Well, that took a turn-- I am strong, I am wise, I am handsome- You sound like a joke, sir. Have at you. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yep, he had the same HP-- Wait, what!? Again!? He pulled it off again! What kind of a monster...?! Ack! Eat your words, b*****. You think that will upset me? Please... This guy is actually impressive. Will give him that much. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: You... Are you afraid to die? That's your choice. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: I thought this kind of pay grade was reserved for assassins, priests and the like. With how much he hit Faye he's clearly a Lancassin. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Nope. So far she's been in two maps and she's already well on her way to earning the title of luckiest unit in the game. Like, seriously, that assassin business was uncanny. Paramythis is blessed by Veria for sure. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...Son of a bitch... No! My shining shield! You fucker! Shining load of crap, it's already gone? That's a bad sign. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, of course, and he gets hit by that too... Fucking horsemen, I swear... Aaaarrghh, I hate you! I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! Horsemen continue to curse you at every turn. It sounds like this is there to torment you. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ah, that's it. Berwick's final stages come, if this is the minimum I fear the future. I'm already done the first third of TWEWY (aka one of the Switch games that most benefits from getting a stylus for it, even a cheap one as I'm using), only in the second week have I gotten to hear remix tracks that don't make me ask why they were made. The Roger The Paladin
Spoiler On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Deception aside, the fact that she was working as a mercenary... He knew you wouldn't use her even once because you preferred Owen. As evidenced by your lack of use of Izerna. Hard to get killed on the bench. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: It is her nickname. Hah! If she were a dinosaur, would she be a Brontesaurus? On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: I'd like to point out that she no longer has casual mode. Prior to this, Paramythis would come running to bail her out, but no longer. Quite the opposite, in fact - if Saphira dies, Paramythis leaves forever. That's one heck of a solid argument for me to never take Saphie off the bench. So there were two reasons she was safe. Lebough really thought it through. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Madam Quescria rescued me from a group of slavers and took me in... My real parents are dead. Why are slavers everywhere in this game? You just can't turn a corner without running into a practitioner of slavery. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: N-Never mind that! Reese laughed! Wha... What the heck!? Reese laughed! It's... it's honestly kinda creepy. I don't even want to imagine what that guy's laughter sounds like... I could probably do an impression. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Years later, Ferianne fell sick and passed away, leaving the Pallas Leia to Perceval. Maybe his talent is simply for the unlikely to happen. Miss a 97 percent hit? Yep. Find a literal needle in a haystack? You betcha. Break his ankle crossing the street? Of course. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Yes, Master? General Ward, by all means, take Clara with you as well! W-What?! Oh yeah, he's just... Sort of giving us his maid. Just 'cause he can, I guess. Yes, it is rather sudden, but she is an excellent worker. You will undoubtedly find her a great asset. That isn't what I meant... Wouldn't it make trouble for you if Clara were not here? That was unexpected. I guess I'm not Claravoiyant. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: He'll lose track of his expenses for sure... But of course, he seems to have infinite money somehow, so who cares, really. Also no one to play the violin when he sings. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Do you have any idea why there is a strange girl inside our vault? Pfffft! Did Ward really put her in the vault? And he didn't introduce her to everyone else... The poor girl. She has the patience of a saint, that one. Though I guess this'll be a nice break from dealing with Erzheimer's antics... What a reVaulting fate. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: We can't even take her bags. You can give her more bags, but her bags are hers alone. "Personal use" my ass! All in all, this reward is pretty useless. The Vollenden and the money from the items are what you want to do the Erzie quest for. Not this. I don't know. It means that Kaga beat Fates to having a maid. Go figure. Just like Erzheimer beat me to finishing a collection. Though give it some time. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Count Piers of Serenia was namedropped a few chapters back, in another map scene. With him, however, is someone we've never seen before: Gordova, third Cardinal of Raze. He's... not gonna lie, he's rather unremarkable. The most interesting thing about him is that "gordo" in spanish means "fat". He's named Fatva. Hah hah. Puts a whole new spin on why Kirby won't eat those spiked ball enemies in his games (the things Dedede throws in Smash). Seeing as they're named Gordo, Kirby must think they're pure fat. Also, it's kind of apt a food thief like Dedede is literally throwing his "Gordo" at people. This little lesson has given me a new appreciation for that. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Nothung?! I cannot possibly accept this! When Reese doesn't want Nothung from Sienna for his work. On 11/30/2020 at 8:15 AM, Saint Rubenio said: In case you can't read, Nothung is a 15 might sword with 15 extra magical damage. Heheheh... The perfect gift for a sociopath. Still running behind by an update. Hopefully will catch up in a bit.

And they are all promoted too for some reason. Well, except maybe Elbert, not sure. Poor Sherlock isn't in this scene, though. Spoiler 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Today's map has us defending five forts scattered about the city of Baston. However, we're really only going to have to defend three of them. Burroughs, Ruby and Paramythis are standing on them. The other two are behind Burroughs's fort, so they'll be defended together. On the other hand, they only need to take one and we lose. That's not very nice. Wait, you bought all those expensive forges but you didn't spend the money on some horses for Ward and Reese? Surprised not to see Sherlock here. He seems like the best to pick up the enemies on the cliffs while staying out of range. Not sure what Sylvis would really do on this map. This map is just way too open for her. And Ruby as a tank... don't know about that. Meanwhile the only actual tank you deployed is apparently gonna spend his time picking up horses? 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: And then we lost. Well, this was a mess. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Horses. Uh, you're just gonna let them enter the town? Burroughs will be in attack range again, at this rate. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Uhh, look at that slick damage message! Whatever has happened here? Well... Something happened between my first attempt and the second. This is but one of the slight differences you might notice here and there. See if you can find any more! There's at least one other thing you might find in this update. Imaginary cookies for the discerning eye! ? The translation thread doesn't seem to have been updated, though. I guess you are basically beta testing it? 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Okay, no, but really. In this case, I was going to need both heals. In fact, I'm not sure how Burroughs survived that. Another enemy took the crossbowman's turn. If they had both attacked one after the other, that would've been it. Well, letting them just enter the town unopposed worked about as well as one might expect. Good thing he is still kicking. At least for me, I most certainly wouldn't want to spend the final map getting blasted by two Wormwood users at once. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, for crying out loud... We got that horse three maps ago! Well, there goes his Lance access. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, the chance of death was minimal, especially with Shieldfaire. But I'm no stranger to that kind of death. Btw, you ever bought those Prototype Shields with their increased accuracy. Should be enough to give him 100% accuracy at this point. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Okay, so this is ridiculous, but the zanbato is so heavy that it gives the enemies a small chance to hit Faye. So we're going to use the zanbato against enemies without horses. Hah! And they told me this weapon was useless when I bought it. Isn't she still wearing that avoid talisman? Why did you even bring that sword anyway? There are no riders in the upper left. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: You know, I think we're sleeping on Faye a bit. We're always "Adel promotes" this, "Sherlock's redemption arc" that, but look at Faye! At first she could barely do anything. A few chapters ago she was being used as living bait. Now she's solo'ing a full-on army. She's enemy-phasing in Berwick Saga! Color me impressed, girl Oh yeah, she was pretty fun on my Fayeforitism run where I tried to get her weapon skill to 60. I feel like dumping all the durability boosters on her is not the worst way to spend them. It's a lot easier to rely on dodging when getting hit once doesn't immediately result in a crippling. And there is something to be said about having super high accuracy. Weapons like the Levin Sword that would be virtually useless for anyone else suddenly become quite handy. Too bad in the end I was still too stingy to get her the Speed Potion, though. I should have gone all the way. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh look. More friends for Faye to play with. In situations like this, it can be important to keep in mind that Knight units take 4 movement on cliffs while Infantry need only 3. So those Axe guys are going to spend 2 turns on cliff terrain, no matter what. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: That sword has 30% accuracy. Just take off that charm. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...Oh, boy. Horsemen. My favorite. Especially if they pack Sleep Arrows and Breaker Arrows. The rest are not much of a threat, but those two must go down once they cross the wood line. Stuff like this is why I still prefer Gram over Nothung in the endgame. Gram is much better at making sure things actually die, and that is so damn valuable at this point in the game. Saint Rubenio
Part 88 - City of the one thousand resets. Wow: Spoiler On 12/3/2020 at 2:13 AM, Dayni said: Hide contents It might have been made a few years before Futurama started, the humour was a bit closer then too. Fair enough. Isn't Derrick a meme still? Derrick trascends the meme squad. He's too powerful. ...Nah but really. I was thinking more of the LP's own memes. Derrick is Berwick Saga's biggest meme, he's on a different level to the others. Paramythis turning off Saphira's training wheels was such a mistake I changed identity after it in shock What a bizarre sentence you just wrote. Not really, it wasn't high on my priorities in terms of thoughts on this game. Thank some of the leading lights of this game's story for that. Must it all be misery with you? Some secrets are better kept that way. Right... My point was moreso Thracia staves, I know others are better than her. Of course. Because it was too late, to quote myself: I was doubling down. I mean, we do know that he calls vases erotic... Probably. Indubitably! That doesn't excuse the others, especially Martel. Why is everyone misspelling Marcel's name as Martel? Do you hate him that much? As for Marcel, I guess he had to compensate for his 12-year-old face somehow. Rightful would be arguable in an elective inheritance. Thankfully for the emperor Primoginature was enforced. Come now, if this was an elective inheritance Faisal would lose even harder. ...Then again, considering certain events in real life... Gharnef's plan was to overrule Medeus as he pleased in fairness. Oh yeah, absolutely, but Gharnef kept up the appearance of being a mere underling. Jacharam makes a point to remind Chaos of their respective stations from time to time, as it seems. Raze and Lane tho. That's... a different matter. Herman mightn't have been so obvious if he was less of an ass about it before too, shame I mean, if he had attempted to appear kind, that might've made him even more suspicious. The only nice member of the Wonderful Three? Something's up with that! Personally, I think it was the fact that he appeared competent among his usual company that really blew his cover. He should've pretended to be even dumber than Padolf. Jachernef really was lucky nobody in Veria wanted to look at Razite cardinals, his plan would have been shot otherwise. Don't forget that Herman is in charge of all military matters. Pretty easy to throw the investigation off when you're the one investigating yourself. Also, Jacharam's name still doesn't make much sense to me. Far as I know it's a made up name, just like Roswick, Vanmilion, Quescria, etc. I think it looks convincing enough, personally. Lynette's not as god tier as Seth though, so I assume she still needs an army as well. What I'm saying is, both losses would be crippling. They figured Lynette would be easier to access, being more of a diplomat, so they set their sights on her. Bernard might still be on the boat. Hah! Of course, why not. I mean, it's apparent that's the implication of their actual plan. I'm saying that the lack of a truce is counterproductive to the armistice. I explained myself poorly. There is going to be a truce, it just hasn't been officially arranged yet. They want Reese to die before it can begin. And think about it. With Faisal going back to the Empire and Volcyboy being Volcyboy, Herman is in charge of both sides. He's negotiating with himself. Nothing easier than stretching the deadlines a bit, let some fighting take place before making the announcement. Hence the insult beforehand, he's preemptively laying the smackdown so he wins regardless of Reese's retort. He's learned...? Nah, must be an accident. As I made clear. Quite so, yes. I mean, imagine if a game made it part of their plot that all these weapons have to be gathered and they use these three as the reference. That'd be interesting, at any rate. Honestly, it was all kind of a rush. Finally having Lynette in the game meant I could make the joke with her instead of crazy Reese, bot I didn't have a good a pfp. So what do I do? Get the Santa hat edit out of the way and pick one you insisted. Hwahahahahaha... I see this an an absolute win. So do I. I have nothing to complain about. There's worse literally in that post! Indeed there was. The h being silent is how I get that pronounciation. Silent h does exist as gaelige. Right... As do shinehoe, I can't think of a word that would be pronounced like that. Well, I did pull it out of my ass. Would've been more surprised if there was a word like that! (And the Scots pronounced those as Sith. Quite clearly they only thought there was two of them.) Damn Scots! They ruined Scotland! RIPnid. She still has Pallas Leia, not to worry. Vanmillion, can implies there's a chance I can't. Heh... This map sounds brutal if you don't have a strong enough team. It's... not easy. To be honest, I have to wonder if it'd be possible to solo with Reese and Ward. This would've been a good time to give you another Gotoh of some kind, seeing how Paramythis can be missed. The massacre's going to be a thing to see isn't it? Eyup. That right there is a scary amount to face with two units. Well, not really, when that unit is Faye. Who is your Vestaria shrine dedicated to? Hilda. ...No, not the pink-haired girl. ...No, not the pink-haired axe girl. ...No, not the pink-haired axe girl with a shitty personality. The pink-haired axe girl who swears more than me somehow. That one. That one's just wonderful. Wait, this isn't how it happened! Let's go back a second. I can only hope this is the only time this will be used for this map. That sounds like a Faye-tal mistake if she gets hit enough. Have you seen their chances against her? But it's more viable than Derrick. Hey, now... What's that supposed to mean? Derrick is the toughest man in the continent! Then they run away around him because he's surrounded by a fraction because he doesn't kill them fast enough. Hmph... I find it apt. Poetry isn't it though, Martel wasn't eloquent. Stop calling him Martel. An update? Not quite yet made public, but yes. Not as tough as advertised clearly. I'm disappointed in that horse. Sure hope we get a replacement sooner than later... He's clearly froze up without the crossbow to comfort him in the war. Oh God, he truly loved that crossbow, did he not...? Why is Axel still being left in danger? Because I needed that crossbowman to die. Also because I am a subpar tactician. Are you acting like he's actually Azel? What? Why Azel in particular? Alright start. The hammertime. Patience. There is not much to do hammertime on in this map. Chapter 15, on the other hand... Heh heh heh. Sleeping on her, more like I just comment on her levels because she just keeps getting more powerful. There's not much to say about cleaning up most of the generics. Alone. By dodging everything. It's the first time I've been able to make a dodgetank work. Volance? Lanco. I feel like we need a different term for this guy seeing as edgelord doesn't quite fit. Maybe I did get carried away a bit with the edge. Pricklord? Hah! Fine by me. Father, I was foolish not to go all out. I will return to the right way now. And then everyone died. TANKY FAYE! TANKY FAYE! Buff, tanky, immortal... She's got everything! The arrow must have surrendered when she stared it down. Absolutely hysterical. You do realise I am no man right? That doesn't help your chances much. Faye is a genius. I am strong, I am wise, I am handsome- You sound like a joke, sir. Have at you. And then he won again. This guy is actually impressive. Will give him that much. The RNGoddess is impressive. Grrrr... Words uttered before disaster right there. He picked the wrong fight, and his luck only carried him so far. You can die with dignity rather than petulance. That's your choice. He chose option 3: Die in edge. With how much he hit Faye he's clearly a Lancassin. Otherwise known as a halbedier. Even though hacks for some reason seem hesitant to give halbediers a crit bonus. Paramythis is blessed by Veria for sure. Don't forget, she is the one and only survivor of Mordias's massacre of the Shining Knights. Her existence itself is a blessing. Shining load of crap, it's already gone? That's a bad sign. Quite. Horsemen continue to curse you at every turn. I should probably pick a game without for next LP. Though if I go for the game I'm thinking of... heh. It'll be us that will have the horseman of death... It sounds like this is there to torment you. A broken image? Berwick's final stages come, if this is the minimum I fear the future. Actually, the next chapter is... Well, not easy, exactly, but definitely a step below this mission and the last. The final chapter has some nasty stuff in it, but I would also call it inferior to 13 and 12-1. So... yeah, we should be fine. We should. I'm still terrified, but I'm always terrified, even when it doesn't look like it. I'm already done the first third of TWEWY (aka one of the Switch games that most benefits from getting a stylus for it, even a cheap one as I'm using), only in the second week have I gotten to hear remix tracks that don't make me ask why they were made. I am sad at that mistake, the base soundtrack's good. That's pretty cool! As I mentioned in the other thread, I've been replaying Octopath Traveler. That game's battle system is really fun, seriously. And I like how the game lets you beat up random people on the street for no reason whatsoever. Hard to get killed on the bench. Huh... That's actually a sound plan. Who would've thought. If she were a dinosaur, would she be a Brontesaurus? Oh, please... Hahahahahahah! Oh, you. So there were two reasons she was safe. Lebough really thought it through. Yeah, I didn't give him enough credit, did I? Why are slavers everywhere in this game? You just can't turn a corner without running into a practitioner of slavery. Kaga doesn't like it when his characters are happy. I could probably do an impression. Do I dare ask? Maybe his talent is simply for the unlikely to happen. Miss a 97 percent hit? Yep. Find a literal needle in a haystack? You betcha. Break his ankle crossing the street? Of course. So all it takes is for it to be unlikely, doesn't matter if it's good or bad for him. That's quite the blessing... and the curse. That was unexpected. I guess I'm not Claravoiyant. Claraly not. Also no one to play the violin when he sings. What a sad fate. What a reVaulting fate. Sheesh... I can never come up with puns to reply to you, seriously. It's positively vexing. Urgh... I don't know. It means that Kaga beat Fates to having a maid. Go figure. Kaga always does it first, The Roger. Always. Just like Erzheimer beat me to finishing a collection. Though give it some time. Well, you don't have a veteran general running around grabbing stuff off of corpses for you, do you? Puts a whole new spin on why Kirby won't eat those spiked ball enemies in his games (the things Dedede throws in Smash). Seeing as they're named Gordo, Kirby must think they're pure fat. Also, it's kind of apt a food thief like Dedede is literally throwing his "Gordo" at people. This little lesson has given me a new appreciation for that. Hahahahahahahah... That's quite appropriate, actually. Just a note, though: "gordo" is "fat" as in, the adjective. It's also used as a noun for overweight people, in the same vein as "fatso". The fat itself would be "grasa". Nonetheless, the general idea still works. When Reese doesn't want Nothung from Sienna for his work. He wanted nothing, but he got Nothung. The devil is in the details. You know what will be nothing? The enemies, after he's done with them. The perfect gift for a sociopath.Sociopath or not, that sword's quite the beauty. Still running behind by an update. Hopefully will catch up in a bit. Well, not to worry. On 12/3/2020 at 9:39 AM, BrightBow said: Oh hey, look who is back from the death. Christine, Leon and Elbert. And they are all promoted too for some reason. Well, except maybe Elbert, not sure. Poor Sherlock isn't in this scene, though. Oh yeah... I'd noticed, but I forgot to comment it. That was a pretty weird attempt to incorporate those guys into the scene - especially considering it's later revealed that they can ommit particular units from a scene if they're dead. They just forgot to do it here. Oh well. Hide contents Wait, you bought all those expensive forges but you didn't spend the money on some horses for Ward and Reese? I ran out of cash, and figured I probably wouldn't need the extra movement here. And, well, Reese and Ward never did need to move too much. Yes, my initial formation was a complete disaster, I've nothing to say in my defense. Well, this was a mess. Honestly, I think it would've been worse if I made it to turn 5. Then I couldn't have resetted. Uh, you're just gonna let them enter the town? Burroughs will be in attack range again, at this rate. I was afraid for Ruby. ? The translation thread doesn't seem to have been updated, though. I guess you are basically beta testing it? Indeed. I cannot provide any specific dates, but there's a patch underway that I was given early access to. The perks of being the VIP among us. Hah! I look down upon you peasants with disdain! I have something you do not! Bow before me! I am more important than you! ...In all seriousness, yeah, Aethin sent it to me for testing purposes. I asked him and he said it was all right to use the patch for the LP, so I figured, might as well get that slick damage message for the final few maps. Just a shame that I won't get to make fun of the ending scroll, though. The old "a" was replaced so it actually looks like an "a". Well, letting them just enter the town unopposed worked about as well as one might expect. Good thing he is still kicking. At least for me, I most certainly wouldn't want to spend the final map getting blasted by two Wormwood users at once. I mean, heck, how are you even supposed to comfortably get rid of that one assassin without him...? The SPOILER bow requires getting too close... Well, there goes his Lance access. I shed a single manly tear. Btw, you ever bought those Prototype Shields with their increased accuracy. Should be enough to give him 100% accuracy at this point. I bought them, and I broke them. They were great, yeah. While they lasted. Isn't she still wearing that avoid talisman? Like I said in the update, I completely forgot I could take it off her. Why did you even bring that sword anyway? There are no riders in the upper left. She just had it. Don't ask me why. Oh yeah, she was pretty fun on my Fayeforitism run where I tried to get her weapon skill to 60. The speed potion is an even bigger joke than Derrick. Fuckin' gotta buy furniture of all things to get the most useless statbooster. Pah! In situations like this, it can be important to keep in mind that Knight units take 4 movement on cliffs while Infantry need only 3. So those Axe guys are going to spend 2 turns on cliff terrain, no matter what. Wonderful. That sword has 30% accuracy. Just take off that charm. I still find it hilarious that she's doing work with the zanbato. And again, I completely forgot I could do that. Can you blame me? That charm is half the reason Faye is as epic as she is! A shame my Gram is yellow. Still, I'll probably begin busting it out next map. What a tactician: Spoiler Last time, horsemen appeared and we lost the shining shield. Thank you, horsemen, for being the best thing ever. Today, we're going to do things. Speaking of doing things, best knight does her thing on one of the knights. This sight warms my heart, truly it does. That's cute. ACK! Phew... Okay, she needs to get outta there. Yeey I missed yet another prompt. Die! I need room to maneuver. Just like so. Hmmm... Killer axe, eh. That's kinda terrible. Brave crossbow, eh... That is also terrible. Well, fuck it. It may seem rather wasteful, but let's Astra this guy. Of course, to add to the wastefulness, she goes and gets through the shield with both of the first strikes. Jesus Christ, that guy's movement... You... You all aren't a threat. Oh shit! It's Amoy! What a memorable character and face! Nice. The full range meteors. Of course. Oh my God, look at that ballista! It is red with the blood of its enemies! I'd love to have it, but... Actually, I think this might be the only one in the entire game, so... No, it ain't happening. We just need to destroy it for the parts. This is the reason Larentia was hanging out in this corner of the map. Well, for the time being, let's kill the sleep asshole. Without him, and with the throwing spear guy up there across the cliff, Larentia cannot be attacked by anybody this turn. That is quite handy. Adel dodgetanks. Ah-HAAAAH! Hahah, fuck off. You fell for it, hook, line and sinker, you sucker! You're so screwed. As are you! Excellent. Mistakes were made. Oho! Javelins are good, so I'm happy with this result. I sent Ruby ahead for some reason. Now I'm sending her back, because she's in range of that behemoth of a ballista. And another horseman falls before our might! This is going great. Y'know, minus the fact that we lost an extremely good shield to a shitty horseman. That's cool! Too bad Paramythis has no room. Might as well upgrade this vulnerary. The ballista, deprived of any target, has turned around in an attempt to nail Larentia. Let it do as it pleases, for it shall soon perish. As for Axel, he has one more house, and just enough time to get there. There's also the fact that, by going up there, he'll be completely safe from the surprise. That makes me so very happy. Amoy's battle quote. Good work, Amoy. You did it. Worth a shot. Hoho! Truly was! Thank you so much, Burroughs. We could try something hilarious. But no. It ain't worth it. Let's instead settle for the ol' reliable. Later, though. For now, Ruby and Ward help Derrick to tank. Adel performs a capture. Ol' reliable time. Reliable as ever, her. As planned, all the enemies run away from Larentia, as they are unable to fight her. There is little that could go wrong now. So let's get to work. Hah! A foolish endeavor. Watch as the man himself, the Derrick, destroys your hopes and dreams-- Ahh, shucks. Next time. Next time! Hwahahahahaha... This is Axel against knights with the hammer. Don't forget, this will apply to gigas knights as well. Ohohohohoho... I mean, Dean would probably have more impressive hitrates, but who's Dean, anyway? Nobody knows Dean. Anyway, he won't do that. He has other things to do. Okay, this time. This time, surely, he'll do his job and tank-- For fuck's-- Noo, Derrick! Darkheal up, darkheal up, darkheal up! Why is Ward a better tank than Derrick? What an unfair world, this one that respects not a true man. Not that Ward is any less of a man, but... Look, I forgot where I was going with this, okay? Oh well, he's almost dead. Good enough for the time being. Burroughs continues to harrass the enemies. Amoy continues to fail to harrass us. Worth a shot, as always. When was the last time Ruby did something truly useful, again? Sit on this fort, I guess. Sylvis, finish this guy off. Hah... Ahah...! Hahaha, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...!! Fucking die. ...! Could it be... is it time... Oh yes it is...! Yes! Ward levels up! Now watch as I lose again and he goes back to base level. I mean, not that he needs more than base level, but... It'd be a bit sad. Especially since this level is actually great, considering Ward's growths. Derrick, prove your worth! Hah, that's sure to have scared the bees outta 'em! Magnificent work, Derrick! Oi! Whatcha doin'? Tryin'a sneak past us? Fat chance o' that! Why am I talking like a pirate? Who knows, who cares! I shall now speak with such flowery words as though a veritable scholar I were! Ride forth, my ladies, and teach them a lesson in the ways of this world of ours! In other words, please kill. ...Wha... That is the most pathetic critical hit I've seen in my life, but I suppose one can only ask to be so fortunate. Paramythis is already too good for me, heh. Assist her, Faye! AH AAAAAAAAHHHH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH Here's the surprise, folks. In turn 13, no less than eight lancers and six wyvern knights appear. Have fun surviving. Now, not all is bad news. I did say the 15 turn deadline was misleading. The truth is, the enemies spend turn 13 approaching, and a second surprise happens in turn 15. We only have to survive turn 14. But that is easier said than done... KILLER SPEAR Guuhhh... KILLER SPEAR Oowoowoowoow... Man...! My heart! Oh, dear God, I thought she was a goner for sure... Oh, get the fuck out, seriously! What did Derrick do to you all!? Okay, okay. Let's calm down. First, let's kill this guy before he causes trouble. Imagine losing Paramythis to a crit. Hah! That's more like it. HP is all right, sure, why not. Another rando carrying 1k? That guy ran to heal... Sure, that's decent. See, the problem is that if it were up to me, we'd be running for the hills from the lancers. But if we do that, we'll lose the fort! There's also the fact that I'm not sure if this guy could take the fort if Derrick leaves now. Either way, we'll have to wait. The Euthyphro has been with us all game. However, it appears its time has at last come. Sweet dreams, fair weapon. You were good, real good. Maybe even the best. Strength is great. Yay, a thing! Slight mistranslation, but that's all right. She needs to run this turn and the next. I cannot leave her exposed to more killer spears. Okay, finally. Now Derrick can escape. D'oh, no! Stop! Owen can't heal everyone! They might as well use their pocket medicine. Burroughs only has 1 movement outside of the roads, but it will have to do. He cannot afford to be anywhere near the fort by next turn. Oh man. That looks more imposing than it really is. The fliers are just slow enough that they can't make it to the other team, so they'll have to try their luck against Reese. I find it funny how the side of the map where the boss is standing is the one where no ugly surprises appear. Nobody likes Conan, apparently, because they make it really easy to get to him and cut his throat. Anyway, Adel uses a javelin to one-shot a priest. Faye does the same with her bdastard sword. Missed the prompt, as usual, but it's a bunch of treasure. We're probably going to need to purchase a horse, so this is great. Okay... here we are. Turn 14. We live through this, we're golden. And here's the awesome thing: the lancers on Reese's side? The forest screws with their movement just enough that they cannot reach him. He only needs to defend the fort from the fliers - easy enough. The only problem is Ward... That road will take his side's lancers straight to him. First off, Larentia needs to get out before she gets hit critically. Brace for impact... He just needs to use that shield, and-- ...Okay, never mind, the damage is still a bit higher than I'd hoped... OOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRGHHH ...Is how I reacted at the time. However, I'm just now realizing that Derrick just barely tanked that even without the shield. Wow. That is legitimately impressive. He can take a fully charged lance to the face and live. You can tell I wrote that message when I was in the middle of gasping for air. My dumb ass didn't even realize he was safe... Okay, but now you need to run again. Before something hits you. I immediately realized that was a mistake. You know, if I'd only made him heal, we could've made it. Derrick wasn't in danger anymore. My panic once again cost me everything. Great. Another reset. This always feels bad, you know. Deaths allow for proper drama and stuff, but being forced to reset only makes me feel awkward when I call this an Ironman. At least we can save the shining shield this time. Once again, this feels rather cheaty, but... Oh, for fuck's sake. What a disaster of a map. I wouldn't even have used a game over unit to protect the fort, but then again, who else did I have? Ward's my last non-joke tank remaining! Okay, let's save the shield. Of course. OF COURSE. THE FUCKER IS GOING AFTER THE VOLLENDEN INSTEAD. WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS. OOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURGHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! FUCK YOU! NOT THIS TIME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-- AAAANNNGH ...Wait... The heck? The guy Canto'd into the fort, but that didn't kill us all! That's interesting... Usually with these games, the game tells you to fuck off the moment an enemy steps on the important location. I guess the enemies here have to seize? ...Hold up, that doesn't make sense either! He could reach the fort! Why take a shot at Reese instead of ending us? Are you seriously telling me this horseman would rather annoy me than win? That's just... That's so wrong on so many levels... Anyway, Larentia will run to this spot this time, so the guy can't throw a spear at her. The upside is that I can be prepared to nab the notifications this time. Ahhh, wonderful! This is perfect. He's gone so far that now he can't hit Larentia, period. She can wait at the edge of the sleep guy. Then, when the ballista arrives, she can wait for him to wait, then go in and hit it. This way, she can finish it off next turn and canto away! The sleep guy won't even know what happened! I've explained myself awfully, but it makes sense in my head. Just you wait. And now this guy has waited without attacking... The heck is these guys' AI? I don't... understand it...! Fuck it. Let's erase this man before he makes up his mind to seize the fort. Ooohhhh, please... I am in physical pain. Soothe my woes, Paramythis...! Since this time the strongbow guy went the other way, Paramythis has the room in her bag to grab the medicine. That's great, at least. Decided to go after this fellow first this time around. Not much of a reason, really. This happens again. Oh my God, she's just one point short... See, this is where I would use the Rossweisse. Except, I gave it to her in the prepscreen. You can't save in the prepscreen. So Sherlock still has it. I hate that you can't save in the prepscreen, seriously. It's one of those things about this game that just makes you go "why? Why is this a thing?" Well, I guess there's nothing to be done about it now. Let's wait out the remaining enemies, and... This happens again... Reese, please hit. If this doesn't work, we lose. Yet again. Thank you, goddamnit. Neat. Oh man... What are these arrows? The damage is low, which scares me. They might be special arrows of some kind...! ...No effect? No effect. No idea what those arrows are, and I forgot to check, so I guess it'll remain a mystery forever. Also, notice that that guy could've seized and didn't. Again. I... I can't complain, honestly. Larentia's still safe from sleep. Now we just have to wait for him to waste his turn. There isn't a single flaw to my plan. None at all. You will perish! Whoa... What a funky frame. His arm is, like, a pickaxe-shaped blade! Where's the spooky image when you need it... Also, he missed. Oh, God... Aaaack! Okay, good, good. As if. Faye the Untouchable continues to be... Well, untouchable. Except for that one lancer. But he's too dead to brag about it. As for Paramythis, well... Seriously, what even are the odds of this? She gets two strikes in every fight, and she's got a crit almost every single time! It's only 33%! As before, she retreats back to protect the fort and the cliff. Is it too much to ask that you use your shield this time? Thank you. I can only hope this is a sign of things to come. T-That's no good...! Vengeance! Down with you! Amoy once again does his thing. Eyyy, she got through his shield! We might get to kill him now. ...Oh yeah, we're definitely going to get rid of him. Hah! The time has come, Larentia! NOW! Whoop-de-doo! Not bad goodies. Get rid of this pesky fellow before he has a chance to do something cheeky. Ward steals Derrick's vulnerary, even though Owen is right there. I swear, I play a little better when I'm not doing Ironmans. It's just, Ironmans are intense, you know? I'm not even kidding, Ironmanning these games are some of the most brutal and intense gaming experiences I've ever put myself through. It's great fun, but fuck me, sometimes it's outright stressful. Anyway, Axel running to the upper part of the map will ease my worries. Since Owen has nothing more to do (thanks, me from the past), he's free to heal Paramythis's chip damage. We want all the health we can get - I refuse to get a repeat of Alvina's end. Euthyphro goes bye-bye again. Except not, this time, because I only used it once. There's one more use to it yet. We'll have to find a worthy foe for it. Run like the wind! I mean, fly like so! Please... He's got a thousand of those! ...oh dear. Yeah, Ruby needs to leave. HOW THE FUCK DID I DO THAT!? SOMEHOW I MADE HER WAIT INSTEAD OF MOVING HER! BUTTERFINGERS, GODDAMNIT! I'M THE REAL BUTTERMAN! Welp, there goes another horse. Or not. Sure, that works just as well. Please die. You failed, Amoy. Any chance this will end him? Any chance this will cripple him? Any chance of... whatever? Figures. Pick up a new shield, and... Uhhhh! I smell a Derrick kill! He has charged his axe up with the power of the Gods! There is no chance he will fail now! I mean, a man can dream, right? Okay, we're done. Time to cross our fingers and hope for the best. I like how I took these screenshots at just the right times to make it look like they're praising me. Indeed, Richthofen - I am very wise. Speaking of Richthofen, it's actually a rather smart reference for once - if you didn't know, Richthofen is the surname of the man best known as Red Baron, one of the most renowned fighter pilots in the german army during WWI. Quite the appropriate name for the leader of the only wyvern rider troop we face in the entire game (Larentia and the Arcturus squad don't count because they don't want to fight you). Anyway, Larentia has to haul ass before she gets crit. Last time was the last time. Derrick almost loses his second shield. But you know how the saying goes: "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, that just ain't possible, Derrick is too epic to be fooled twice." That's totally how it goes! That serves our purpose just as well, I guess... Noo... You-- What!? Faye! The odds were in your favor! Everyone knows 11% is the same as 0%! I know this is 1-RN, but... Run! Hah! Outclassed! Oh God! Burroughs! Ward, take your place at the fort in Derrick's stead. I... I don't really have much of a plan beyond trying the same thing again, no. I mean, who else is going to tank? Ruby? She's worse at it than Ward! You've got to be kidding me, Ward. Die already! D'awww... That's not so good. Okay, now get outta there. None but Ward shall remain. You, too. Here comes the baron. Treasure is ours again. Might as well get rid of these priests once more. Faye can handle the knights. Strength! Hahahah! Yes! Buff Paramythis! I think this is Faye's worst fight in this map. And she won. Heh... Yeah, those lancers are only there to give you a spook. They can't really get much done. if only I could say the same about the other ones! Healing for Burroughs. Hmph... A smart person: "Let's have Sylvis prepare an Overwatch. That way, the lancer that goes after Derrick will be stopped, and Ward won't have to deal with him." Ruben: "DERRICK! DON'T KILL DERRICK! RUN FOR SAFETY, DERRICK, HURRY!" Well. How about we call it quits and move on to... I don't know, The Last Promise? It has blonde lords and Nothung, it's practically the same thing. Blistering barnacles, what did I do to this game? I practically worship you, Berwick Saga! Why do this to me!? At least the vollenden is still unharmed... Uh... ...Ah, fuck it. I hate to do this, but if I keep recording my attempts, we'll be here all day. See you when I make it back to turn 14. For fuck's sake, really!? Thank you, Reese. Goddamnit, you're the only one I can rely on! All right, so we're back. This time, I intend to do what I said earlier: lure one with Derrick, then shut him down with Sylvis. You may notice that there is a crippling flaw to my stratagem. No, this is just... This is an unrelated mistake. Don't ask me how I let this happen. Please. Anyway, the flaw is that I had Derrick move one hex further to the north. This means the lancers can't reach him. Wonderful. We lose again. Hmph... This tactician doesn't know what he's doing! If this continues, I'll... No. I cannot fall here. Lord Reese still has need of me! ...Or not! Ha! It takes more than that to break these old bones of mine! Oh, man... Pathetic! Who taught you to fight? Clearly you need a change of mentors! Yes! Yes! YES! YEEEESSS! DUMB LUCK IS GETTING ME THROUGH THE MAP, I DON'T DESERVE IT, BUT IT'S HAPPENING, LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Hmmm... Okay, this is great. This is excellent. If those enemies don't move too much, no more lancers will be able to reach Ward. ...No, it's actually terrible, Burroughs is in range of an enemy. That is more like it. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Ooough, my heart... Come on, Reese! Larentia is innocent and Zephyrus is too important to die, but these traitors... They're ripe for the killing! Heheheh... A shame he can't attack on his own turn, because flier. I'd love to get Reese a flier kill or two. This is really good, though. Even if one of those knights moves, there's only one more lancer that can reach Ward... Only problem would be if this guy gets to him and hits him critically. Hope for the best...! Burroughs has to run for his life. Reese continues to tank with Erzheimer's gift. Sure getting some mileage out of the thing! Even more thanks to this! Heal up, and you'll be able to withstand what remains. Oho! I wonder... Baaaah, what a shame! Reese missed... If you're wondering, Richthofen's hurt because he hit Reese's shield last turn. Come to think about it, I probably should've recorded his battle quote... Ahh, I can do that later. Man, Ward is on fire this time around! Seriously! He knows someone has to save the run, and it sure as heck ain't gonna be me and my poor tactics. Well, that's kinda it. Ward is 100% safe now. Those knights won't be able to do much to him, and with Larentia parked next to him, people won't be able to use that tile to hit him either. ...Damnit, I didn't count on that! The Derrick bait worked all too late! Still, one single enemy shouldn't be able to do much... ...Two enemies. Oh man. Ack! No, wait! Good... Thank you for waiting, Amoy. I think I did this to protect Ward from the critting guy. Of course, I hadn't realized that the critting guy can now kill Larentia. Bah. I'll take it. He can get himself another one when we go back to Navaron. Okay. He just has to survive that last lancer and we're good to go. Should be doable. Better with a shield, of course. Yes... YES! WE WON! GOOD GOLLY, WE'VE DONE IT! WARD IS THE ENDGAME BEARD! CARRYING THE TEAM IN THE LATEGAME! KWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK She's faced four 18% crits and survived. Wow... I truly was unfair with her. The Alvina thing was unfortunate, but Larentia, you're... you're all right, after all. Thank you for living. Might as well get one more kill in before the end. Can someone run the numbers on this? Because I have to wonder if this is even more ridiculous than Paramythis's encounter with the assassin. Now... I know. This looks absolutely hopeless. And, much like in chapter 11-1, the map is over at the end of turn 15, not at the beginning. However... Worry not, for... The enemies begin to retreat in turn 15! Honestly, I love this moment. Of course, it comes at the cost of some pain for a blind player, but the feeling of relief when the entire enemy army begins to run is just... Oh, so great. Bye, Conan. Nobody cared about you at any point. Retreat...? What on earth is going on? I do not know... But whatever it is, it has saved our lives... ...I have to find out what's going on. Ward, we're returning to Navaron. Have half of our soldiers stay here to guard the city, and the rest will come with us. Yes, milord. Oh... my God. What an absolute catastrophe of a map. Jesus Christ... And nobody died permanently! I can't even celebrate that we all made it home with our limbs attached, because how can I call this a victory when we lost four times over!? Sigh... Well, as it were. Next time, we return to Navaron and move on to the next chapter... The beginning of the end. We'll also randomly get the end of a character's arc. A character I'm not even using, either. So, uh... Look forward to that, kinda? I guess? In any case, please farewell, and wait for the update that will be released in due time! Au revoir! Death count: Christine Esteban Czene Clifford Elbert Leon Marcel Arthur Alvina Faye x 4 * Unavailable Capture count: 2 (Daoud, Elbert) Cripple count: 2 (Perceval, Burroughs) Reset count: 13 (Reese: 2, Ward: 6, Abus: 2, Vester: 1, Baston Fort: 2) Current perfect streak: Can this still be called an ironman with that amount of resets maps Best perfect streak: 6 maps Adel: Promoted. More Kaga naming shenanigans that I absolutely adore. Also, I feel like this adds credence to the whole "Arcturus killed 34 paladins in a single battle," for these guys are scary as hell and they're just your basic wyvern enemies. The ability to pick and choose one's battles is quite strong, especially when you can essentially not risk being hurt due to the combat system. Some nice gameplay-story integration. 30 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: How about we call it quits and move on to... I don't know, The Last Promise? It has blonde lords and Nothung, it's practically the same thing. That edit really emanates "not this shit again" vibes purely by how jarring it is. Nice. 31 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Pathetic! All of our dead Wards from alternate timelines are urging him on. Specifically, all the ones we killed on some lancers. Well, I only contributed one ghost-Ward, but still. He's helping. 33 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: KWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK Oh no, Ruben's becoming a duck. I suppose the mental strain of trying to keep people alive in this two-turn hellscape has caused his mind to... quack under the pressure. 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Can someone run the numbers on this? Because I have to wonder if this is even more ridiculous than Paramythis's encounter with the assassin. I don't know her Speed and Sword Skill values, so I can't speak to the chance of an Adept hit not occurring, but this is a (1-.82)(.15)(100) = 2.7% chance. Oof. 37 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Honestly, I love this moment. Of course, it comes at the cost of some pain for a blind player, but the feeling of relief when the entire enemy army begins to run is just... Oh, so great. I vividly remember my first time here. Everybody was a single hit of death, I was absolutely hopeless, then I saw one of the lancers run away and went "dafuq? That was weird." Then I realized what was happening after the rest of them started fleeing, and that was absolutely wonderful. This map is evil. Quick bonus story: on the r/FE discord, I and some other Berwick vets were chatting with a guy who was playing this map completely blind, and the guy playing predicted that something like this would happen just before the turn save. That was a rather amusing awkward silence of messages. 40 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Death count: Christine Esteban Czene Clifford Elbert Leon Marcel Arthur Alvina Faye x 4 * Unavailable Capture count: 2 (Daoud, Elbert) Cripple count: 2 (Perceval, Burroughs) Reset count: 13 (Reese: 2, Ward: 6, Abus: 2, Vester: 1, Baston Fort: 2) It's funny - I lost twice as many units as you have so far in my run overall, yet if you count game-overs and Faye deaths, I actually did pretty well by comparison. Speaks to the kind of players we are, I guess. I've been ironmanning RD NM recently, and it's been a hell of a ride. No deaths whatsoever until I forgot to check enemy ranges and yeeted my base-speed Mist into a pack of Swordmasters in 3-11, and watched Zihark get OHKO'd by a crit on the first enemy action of the first turn of 3-12. Currently on 4-1 now, no deaths as of yet. I'm currently planning on attempting a Minimum Recruitment run of Berwick Saga, the team being the Sinon Knights, Izerna, Aegina, Enid, and Alvina. I'll have to kill some greenies in 4-m, 5-m, and 8-m, and kill Larentia in 4-m. Yes, it's only cavs and mages. Yes, it's going to be painful. And yes, I am crazy. Also, here's an incredibly shitty MSPaint meme. Let's see if you can decipher what it means.
Punished Dayni
Spoiler 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Derrick trascends the meme squad. He's too powerful. ...Nah but really. I was thinking more of the LP's own memes. Derrick is Berwick Saga's biggest meme, he's on a different level to the others. Memes this run are consistently becoming dreams. Derrick should worry. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Must it all be misery with you? I mean, Sidhe's identity was a very brief part of the story, there's bigger fish to fry. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Why is everyone misspelling Marcel's name as Martel? Do you hate him that much? As for Marcel, I guess he had to compensate for his 12-year-old face somehow. I'm just being an idiot. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh yeah, absolutely, but Gharnef kept up the appearance of being a mere underling. Jacharam makes a point to remind Chaos of their respective stations from time to time, as it seems. Gharnef would probably only take his action the moment he had to. Also after he'd gotten his Falchion pawn ready as well, which of course he didn't account for as well as he could have. Jacharam could have been stabbed there if Chaos felt he could get away with it as well, it's probably a precarious advantage. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, if he had attempted to appear kind, that might've made him even more suspicious. The only nice member of the Wonderful Three? Something's up with that! Personally, I think it was the fact that he appeared competent among his usual company that really blew his cover. He should've pretended to be even dumber than Padolf. He wouldn't have been a wonderful three if he had been doing that in fairness. But looking competent compared to the other two is near effortless, you have to try to blend in with them. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Far as I know it's a made up name, just like Roswick, Vanmilion, Quescria, etc. I think it looks convincing enough, personally. I don't know, Jacharam specifically doesn't work for me at all. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I explained myself poorly. Leave Jacharam negotiating with himself. Berwick, don't make my trashing your political judgement easier. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hey, now... What's that supposed to mean? Derrick is the toughest man in the continent! But he's not the roughest. He doesn't have the strength to kill enough for the rest not to flow around him. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: What? Why Azel in particular? Because he died. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: He chose option 3: Die in edge. Still petulant. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Otherwise known as a halbedier. Even though hacks for some reason seem hesitant to give halbediers a crit bonus. That's not the same at all. The Lancassin doesn't really shield all that much and is focused on defying RNG. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: A broken image? That was a sound file. I think you'd have to reload. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: That's pretty cool! As I mentioned in the other thread, I've been replaying Octopath Traveler. That game's battle system is really fun, seriously. And I like how the game lets you beat up random people on the street for no reason whatsoever. Well, I'm finished the second week now. I do not look forward to a certain enemy type showing up again later on. I'd say more, but I'm kinda spoiler adverse to the game and what I've said could already count. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: That's cute. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well, fuck it. It may seem rather wasteful, but let's Astra this guy. Of course, to add to the wastefulness, she goes and gets through the shield with both of the first strikes. No kill like overkill. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Nice. The full range meteors. Of course. Thanks S. Kaga. Limit stave rage, sure, I'd debate the amount, but I get it. Raise siege tome range? Bad enough how they are, but making is so you could be 50 tiles away and still hit you? Good, good, bloody perfect! 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Amoy's battle quote. Says the guy with Wormwood. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Okay, this time. This time, surely, he'll do his job and tank-- For fuck's-- Noo, Derrick! Derrick proving me right again. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Sylvis, finish this guy off. Hah... Ahah...! Hahaha, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...!! This is about right, I'd have seen this coming. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...! Could it be... is it time... Oh yes it is...! Yes! Ward levels up! Now watch as I lose again and he goes back to base level. I mean, not that he needs more than base level, but... It'd be a bit sad. Especially since this level is actually great, considering Ward's growths. STRONK WARD! 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: AH OH FUCK THOSE GUYS ARE HERE? Kaga why would you pay rights to add these bastards to the game? 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Here's the surprise, folks. But that is easier said than done... ...... Well that sucks. Worst surprise since that clown at Sanacia's ascension. Also, 8 lancers. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oowoowoowoow... Man...! My heart! Oh, dear God, I thought she was a goner for sure... It would only have done it if it added the max damage though, 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: HP is all right, sure, why not. It's no nothing that's for sure. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Sweet dreams, fair weapon. You were good, real good. Maybe even the best. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Strength is great. She's going to need that power if she wants a chance at Ward next time she turns. That's pretty nice to have in all fairness. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yay, a thing! Slight mistranslation, but that's all right. How much of that is because of the original phrasing I wonder. The sentence reads like it's a different context. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I immediately realized that was a mistake. You know, if I'd only made him heal, we could've made it. Derrick wasn't in danger anymore. My panic once again cost me everything. These lancers are annoying me because they're perfectly placed to ruin things. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: How about we call it quits and move on to... I don't know, The Last Promise? It has blonde lords and Nothung, it's practically the same thing. Dammit not the neat levels and capture! Change the name and this fits. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...Wait... 2-range units prioritise attacking? Canto doesn't allow you to seize in BS? Also you know they'd rather annoy you. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ahhh, wonderful! The sleep guy be bopping his head to this not realising it be true. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: No effect. No idea what those arrows are, and I forgot to check, so I guess it'll remain a mystery forever. Also, notice that that guy could've seized and didn't. Again. I... I can't complain, honestly. 2-range units really don't prioritise it huh? 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Eyyy, she got through his shield! We might get to kill him now. ...Oh yeah, we're definitely going to get rid of him. Hah! That is some disrespect of the poor man. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: HOW THE FUCK DID I DO THAT!? SOMEHOW I MADE HER WAIT INSTEAD OF MOVING HER! BUTTERFINGERS, GODDAMNIT! I'M THE REAL BUTTERMAN! Welp, there goes another horse. Did you press right? That's what I'd have done because this game lets you do it. Can't believe I'd actually be bashing one of these games for controls of all things, but Berwick did the nigh impossible. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Or not. Sure, that works just as well. 42% isn't nothing, that's lucky. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: He has charged his axe up with the power of the Gods! There is no chance he will fail now! I mean, a man can dream, right? Sure you can. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Speaking of Richthofen, it's actually a rather smart reference for once - if you didn't know, Richthofen is the surname of the man best known as Red Baron, one of the most renowned fighter pilots in the german army during WWI. Quite the appropriate name for the leader of the only wyvern rider troop we face in the entire game (Larentia and the Arcturus squad don't count because they don't want to fight you). Fixed it for you. I'm not surprised I didn't know because WWI isn't one of those periods I'm much interested in, despite my great grandfather fighting in it. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Strength! Hahahah! Yes! Buff Paramythis! Powemythis. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: A smart person: "Let's have Sylvis prepare an Overwatch. That way, the lancer that goes after Derrick will be stopped, and Ward won't have to deal with him." Ruben: "DERRICK! DON'T KILL DERRICK! RUN FOR SAFETY, DERRICK, HURRY!" Derp moves. You can move before Overwatch right? 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well. How about we call it quits and move on to... I don't know, The Last Promise? It has blonde lords and Nothung, it's practically the same thing. Ward should be lying on hit side with all this. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...Ah, fuck it. I hate to do this, but if I keep recording my attempts, we'll be here all day. See you when I make it back to turn 14. For fuck's sake, really!? Womp womp. Clearly it was a case of blink and you miss the enemy capturing the fort. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hmph... This tactician doesn't know what he's doing! If this continues, I'll... No. I cannot fall here. Lord Reese still has need of me! ...Or not! Ha! It takes more than that to break these old bones of mine! He and Mycen would get along I suspect. Mycen's old enough to have taught him. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Pathetic! Ward's luck just got used, if he can die in teh final chapter I suspect he's doomed. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Baaaah, what a shame! Reese missed... If you're wondering, Richthofen's hurt because he hit Reese's shield last turn. Come to think about it, I probably should've recorded his battle quote... Ahh, I can do that later. Does Larentia have a quote? 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yes... YES! WE WON! GOOD GOLLY, WE'VE DONE IT! WARD IS THE ENDGAME BEARD! CARRYING THE TEAM IN THE LATEGAME! Ward must have some whip marks from this run. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: She's faced four 18% crits and survived. Wow... I truly was unfair with her. The Alvina thing was unfortunate, but Larentia, you're... you're all right, after all. Thank you for living. The redemption arc has been completed. 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Honestly, I love this moment. Of course, it comes at the cost of some pain for a blind player, but the feeling of relief when the entire enemy army begins to run is just... Oh, so great. The planning required for this seems like a nightmare unless you understand how that works. And how does it get announced in game? 16 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: ...I have to find out what's going on. Ward, we're returning to Navaron. Have half of our soldiers stay here to guard the city, and the rest will come with us. Yes, milord. Leave the heavy armour, he's too slow to get there in time. (So, any levels or captures we missed? Like you missing the battle quotes?) Well, I just had a potential crisis resolved with less misery than I expected. All so that I can drive again. It could be much worse. 15 hours ago, Spara said: Also, here's an incredibly shitty MSPaint meme. Let's see if you can decipher what it means. Spoiler I see we're trying to make the jagens worse. And of course the tome steals exp better. 😛
