THE END OF THE REIGN OF TERROR(?): Spoiler We did it. 51 hours in, and we're here. The final chapter, which is probably one of my favorite maps in all of FE. One good weapon and one... Pretty bad one. "Wields great power" Yeah, the power to REDUCE LYN'S SPEED BY EIGHT POINTS WHILE HAVING LESS MIGHT THAN A SILVER SWORD IN EXCHANGE FOR +5 RES, A STAT THAT LYN DOESN'T REALLY EXCELL IN. It's completely worthless. Especially since this Lyn has nine strength. Nine. Yes, I said that several times over last update with a series of cringy romances. Not a problem! You can normally deploy 12 units, and I have less than that! Here's our endgame squad. I'm not deploying Marcus 'cause he "died" in chapter 15, and I'm not deploying Hawkeye because...I dunno. I have had lots of space for him, but I just don't deploy him. Welp. NO, OUR SECOND ASSASSIN He has fled. At least 11 times. Anyways, here we go! LET'S DO THIS! This is my time to shine! I just need to keep clinging onto life. Everything else can be worked out from there. Why did the chicken cross the road? To kill Nergal with the rest of us! I can do this! I can save everyone, just as I'd dreamt of doing! Nergal may have the power of quintessence on his side, but we have the power of love! Well said! Boy, Wil would have loved this. He'd have, what, 90 attack on player phase with it? It wouldn't do a ton to the dragon because none of the S-ranks are in this game, but still, wow. ...Is what I'd say if this bow actually was brave. It is still incredibly potent, but does not strike twice. Also, we have Athos! He's good. S ranks for all magic, which means I can heal! Except I forgot to equip him with staves... 'Aight, time to bait Not!Uhai with Oswin! Hah! Nerd! Every time. Every single time I start a final map, I get really hyped and then do something like this. I agree. I'm not even angry. I'm just...GAAAAAHHHH... Welp. Let's forget that happened and push on. Thank you, Athos! Ded. But at a cost. Meanwhile, everyone's favorite tender pale flower is back! RIP Wil. Not even with a crit can she OHKO. Bruh. This is with the + attack from Eligood as well. I barely touched Jaffar, but I'm glad he's here and joins good. Hoo! We take those here! To quote the teletubbies: Again! Again! Jaffar needs to use the brave sword, but whatever. For some reason, they don't include Teodor as the S-rank wielding druid, even if you see him. Which is weird, 'cause they have both Kenneth and Jerme, when you'll only see one on any given playthrough. Then again, I bet that 99% of players had no clue that 19xx existed. DANGIT LYN More enemies to deal with! He's gonna be tough to deal with, but he's 1-locked, so Athos should deal with him quickly. But first, this guy needs to be removed! Fiora does not have the benefit of promotion bonuses or supports here and is outlevelled by Lyn, yet she still has more strength. Eligood softens the sage for the benefit of Fiora. She's there because Brendand will OHKO her if given the chance. Florina, on the other hand, is safe! ...To an extent. Next door reveals best dad Darin! Love that guy. 'Specially the part where tries to marry Priscilla. Also, if he's eligible to marry, does that imply that Erik is a bastard? Eligood can handle this. Oh my god, I forgot how comically large they made Durandal in this game. It's not so much the length, it's the width. Also, that's a bootiful screenshot I got of his thwacking Brendan. Jerme is very underwhelming. However, he comes alongside someone slightly scarier. Just a tad. OH BOY. Fortunately, Excalibur kinda sucks and slows her down to a manageable 20 AS, but still, she is tough as nails. Buuuut it's not effective against fliers, so who cares? That turned out well! This would be a lot harder fully blind, 'cause I wouldn't have my whole heckin' army waiting for her. We got a high levels of unhelpfulness! Jerme is not as scary as a germ. Yeah, I've got Nils, so this'll be fine. Jaffar simplifies it by just dodging. What a unit. Strength is kinda low, but he's tanky and dodgy. Tu es morts! Bleh! Now here come the scary ones. Lloyd, who has ridiculous avoid and will ORKO everyone not named Jaffar or Florina. And Jaffar barely avoids getting doubled. He has a big crit chance and an A support with the Linus Morph, who is also really scary! I sorta neglected to take a screenshot of his stats... But regardless, BRAVE WEAPONS ON ENEMIES AAAAA Time to Deal with Daddy Darin! He's a real tough customer. But if I can get rid of him before Llonus get here, I should be OK. Immediately after dancing, I realized that Hector would die if I attacked again. YOW! Not good... Ok... Fool! After this, the Rex Hasta will only be used to makes Rex Pasta! Whew! That was a close brush. Daddy Darin is Dead. CALM DOWN HECTOR DEAR LORD. Actually, I like this. Yay, a whole four enemies left to use it on. CREETEKAL. Okay, what is up with his defense?! This is the turn where it all goes wrong, folks. Barring some serious luck, I think we're gonna have to take another run at this. Okay...If I can keep the lords away from Linus, I'll be able to avoid a reset. At the cost of probably Athos, though. JESUS CHRIST, LYN. Well, it's my best bet. Whew! That makes Linus a little easier. We got the regal blade as well, but we have two enemies to use it on. Okay... Hm... I won't be able to kill him this turn without absurd luck, I'll allow him to take his pick between Athos and Jaffar. Oof, I was sorta hoping for Jaffar... Yoo... Oh. Aw man, he doubles. Bah. Ah well. That ain't it, chief. STRONGIFICATION OF FLORINA! Perfect! We've just got Nergal left to face off with. Talk convo about Hecotr. This time for realsies, we can face off against Nergal! WHAT IS THIS UNGODLY DEFENSE?! Um... ... Let's flash forwards to my next attempt, where everyone but the lords and Florina died! Stupidly, I opted to give the kill to Hecotrcoptr. Ah yes, the legendary mistranslation! Bleh! Here we go! Uh... Uh... HOW ARE YOU EVEN THIS BAD?! YOU GET DOUBLED BY THE BOSS, AND YOU'RE THE "FAST" ONE! Well, we're scrood. Great, Bolting. And sleep. Well, there's no point since I physically cannot win, but... Oy... I will not tell your broth! Make your own soup! And then Lyn happened. Many times. Here's Lyn narrowly avoiding an OHKO at the hands of Lloyd, only to get doubled. Seven damage, by the way. Here's Lyn getting killed by a Bolting. +5 res from the weapon, by the way. However... I got gud. I thought about what I would do for once. And everything would come together. Turn 1: Protecc Athos, bait Uhai. This is done with great success! I also trap Uhai in a corner so that can't move. Athos elixirs up so that he can be ready to again. Bolting cost me a good run, so I'm gonna get rid of it proactively. Eligood ORKO's the Pale flower of darkness, so I eliminate Ken next, followed by generic Gespenst. Subsequently, We go to town on the warrior duo, eliminating one while Jaffar solves our Uhai problem. He levels up again later, convinced that he is an armor knight. Lyn is a terrible unit. Brendan hurts Athos, BUT ATHOS HURTS BRENDAN MORE After this, we prepare for the next onslaught. Athos elixirs to deal with the generals before I realize that that is a terrible idea and rescue him away with Eligood, letting Hector do the work instead. -_- She literally cannot damage anything. HECTORCOPTER HECTORCOPTER AGAIN! He is really picking up Lyn's slack. Nice. Fiora still standing strong whilst unpromoted in endgame! The sworslayer actually works really well... But that crit rate is too high to risk. Everything....Everything is going according to plan! What is this?! Sure. Lemme just make sure both my units can survive a round against Linus so that we don't get gameovered... Yeah, we're good to go! That side's done, so let's finish up o'er here too. L Y N W H Y Wait... ... I mathed wrong. 18 x 2 is not 32. Everything was going so well...This will have no impact on my ability to beat the game, but youch. Sorry, Jaffar. EVEN WITH A WEAPON WITH HIGH MT YOU CAN'T DAMAGE ANYTHING. Hector not getting doubled while Lyn is just...It hurts. And after a few turns of whacking at Jerme, He's done for. Here it is. The final showdown. We remove the berserk, Watch Lyn almost die get OHKO'd but crit in return, And surge forwards! We eliminate Nergal's support, And one turn later, he's all alone. You know, maybe it's 'cause I stayed up all night to do this, but the flames really look like ketchup chips to me. It's over, Nergal! We have the high ground! Th-this cannot be! I refuse to accept it! RRRAAAHH! I WILL HARVEST ALL OF YOUR QUINTESSENCE! AAAIIIEEE! I'M TURNING INTO DUST! OR SAND! HEEEELLLLP! AGH, ME TOO! NOOOO! NOT LIKE THIS! Lady Ursula, how did you do that? ...I hit him with bolting, hoping that it would kill him. He was only being kept alive by quintessence, so I guessed that he'd be vulnerable while absorbing yours. I am rather surprised that it worked, however... Did we...win? ...No. I sense immense power...Nergal's death must have gathered enough quintessence to finish his ultimate goal. Hate to be an Eliwood, but whaddya mean "ultimate goal"? ...Summon dragons to destroy the world. OH. Okay...A tad above my pay grade. 'Das pretty cringe of him to do that. Let's not let up yet! Come on, we must assist Lords Hector and Eliwood in their task! ONE! FINAL! CHARGE! YAAAAAAAAAAAAA! FOR HELEN! Nergal is down, finally. The true test, however, lies ahead. The true test is the Dragon. Ooof! This is gonna be something if I can pull it off... I'll let the dragon make the first strike against Athos. Why did we need status staves? Who knows. Lyn ain't an option here. I heal Athos and resume our attack! Athos is really hard carrying us right now. Athos is so good! Bolting on Oswin. I think that this is it. It is. It is the final turn of my LP. If either of Hector or Eligood hit, Athos can finish. Okay...Okay... Easy kill for Athos now- -Wait... Oh. OH. OHHHHHH YES YES YES! I could use Forblaze, but instead, I'm doin' this. So, you're probably thinking, "Benice, why?! You killed a senior citizen!" And I'll show you why. Boy, will I ever. You see what this is? xigbar7 Posted February 28, 2021 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Easy strategy I used for 32x was putting a beefy unit like hector and my Afas drops farina in a choke point with iron rune and trade it back and forth while the other goes in to the top right corner to get healed by Priscilla. Also used nils to make sure they could keep the choke point position. It was slow and took like 20ish turns but also had absolutely zero risk since hector and farina both had weapon triangle and enough speed to not get doubled. Oh boy. Here we go, then. Here we go many times, because both Lyn and I are bad. Honestly, it's a great final chapter. Credit where credit is due, FE7 did something right. It wasn't beaten in every single aspect by a prehistoric fangame that is widely considered to have aged poorly. Even though the bar is low, I think it's one of the only good final maps in FE; I've heard not great stuff about FE2, I have no clue about FEs 3-5, FE6's is rubbish, FE8's is a boss, FE9 is FE9, FE10 is actually good, I dunno about FEs 11-15, and...Well, at least VW's endgame is not very good. I mean, I disagree, I think The Last Promise is, for all its flaws, still great, and it certainly kicks FE7's sorry behind completely out of the park, but hey. I do not know if kicking FE7's behind is an accomplishment. The thing is so good in FE6, what happened? Several points of weight. Hahahahahahahahah... Good lord, even my FE6 endgame cast didn't look this sad. SHUT Also, at least *I* didn't kill Raigh/Hugh! Hah! Ahh, but it doesn't matter. Florina will do it. She's kinda falling off. Albeit partially because of all the axes and stuff. Ahhh, Merlinus. It's been a fun time, but it's time to say goodbye... You know, in TearRing Saga (the game that this game shamefully ripped off), the power of love was the cause of everything bad that happens in the story. ...Just sayin', power of love does not necessarily have to work in your favor. Aside from various lucky dodges and super-Shin/Florina/Dart/Farina/Eligood, yes! You lost Athos in the FE7 finale. Amazing. This is just amazing. What a fitting end for this glorious trainwreck of a run. I lost a lot more than Athos... Gotta say, I like his turbanless design. If only there were more to like about him as a villain. Only matched by Alec's towel. That's... a pretty big thing to say so lightly. Well, it is basically this LP in a nutshell... The one good thing about Nergal's character (which, incidentally, is also the core of Guenchaos's character), and they mistranslated it. To be fair, I'd not have been able to do any better... FE7 is so deceptively bad. If you don't think too much about it, it seems really awesome! But the moment you start peeling away the layers, you discover more and more crap underneath. And there's also Cog of Destiny, which is not deceptive. Now we know why she's not in FE6. She's so bad that she probably got killed by bandits in between the games. Or a cat. Yeah... Athos is pretty much required here. At least for you. Too bad I missed Luna 2 and Canas can't fall here'd with the other... Character development, yes! Let's have it. I got gud! Dang, he really hard carried the earlygame, and even the midgame until we hit Genesis, where I started abusing the game's mechanics to make it easier. Oswin is, and always will be, the Bosswin. This was Serra. I missed the screenshot. Here we go! The endgame-ready cleric didn't QUITE make it to endgame. Too bad, I wanted base-magic Serra there. The guy who will make FE6 fun for me! I didn't want to use him, but that's the cost for being bad I guess. He was going to be so good...SO GOOD...But Guy sent him out to Die. I regret this death a lot. I like archers. But this one was too dead for me to use. This man singlehandedly made this run survive by dying a hero's death in False Friends. Thank you, Mutton Man. I shan't forget how good you were. You died in a map that wasn't even an ironman. And made me miss the bad swordsmaster. 385 BATTLES OH MY GOD ...Do I even have to say anything about her? Solo'd half the game. She was good when nobody else was alive to be good. Once things started getting better with the stretch of easy maps, arena and Harken, she fell off due to the overpoweredness of those units, but dang was she vital to this run. My only combat unit with high movement who survived more than three maps! You died a pointless death in a last-ditch attempt to get Legault. You didn't deserve it. This guy sure did, but he died because I am not smart. Despite meme status, he did good sometimes. I mean, he was just awful Shin, but what can you do, his chipping and range access was actually sorely missed. I thought he was immortal after he survived the boat map. FoW wyverns with poison weapons disagreed. I needed him to be alive so that I could have a staffbot, but he died. I don't remember much about him, but I think he was good for the duration of his life. I cannot overstate how this guy most likely stopped a softlock on one of the worst maps I've ever played. He may not have lived to the end, but he was one of the MVPs. Came right outta nowhere as well! Bad (but alive, more than any other mage could say) before promotion, then promotion and BOOM, instant monster. Also, ignore the game, it's wrong, he's not dead. I promise. Garbo until he promoted, at which point he became exceptionally blessed. One of my best for the time he was around. Much like the other units during the golden days of chapters 25-27, I wish he'd made it farther. Still, he was invaluable in Battle Before Dawn. How were you alive? Anyways, she and Farina had a tight competition for the last elysian whip. I don't regret my decision, since all I really needed Fiora to do was support Florina. And hey, she was pretty good nonetheless! My bards have faced 73 rounds of combat. I do not regret hacking the game to make them promote. Well, this is embarassing. But at least she had lots of time to prepare for her lover's homecoming... BIOGAS! Shin was really, really good. I wish that he hadn't been Maxime'd. His offence was some of the most potent in my army, and his work with a sword...Well, it worked if he needed it. He didn't die because his animations scared me. Good job, you are one of three units who didn't die once in the LP! Ignore the 1 L, Genesis doesn't count. He was a filler unit, but a darned good one. Never a liability, always solid for whatever needed doing. Flier with good stats. I wish that you'd lived, 'cause it makes my My Dude story segments even worse to have your death ignored. Panto sure was a great staffbot. Luna sucks. Louise gave me money, which was nice! This man's class sums everything you need to know about him. Hero. Time and time again, he saved my bacon. He deserved life more than almost anyone on my team. Seriously, in just basically four maps, he amassed 130 battles, while Florina basically had three times that amount in eighteen. Killer Ballistae did not need to be a thing. Anyways, she was worse Pent and never really got to see combat. Still, she could staff! Possibly the most pointless death in the LP. The screen is dark because Jaffar is hiding in shame for working for My Dude. I will never not find her death funny. Also, because I allowed Eligood to give Lyn Durandal, Roy will be cursed to be just as bad as his mother! Roy is canonically bad because of Lyn. 469 battles, 255 wins and 12 losses. I'd forgotten how much he was leaned on in the earlygame. I think 255 is the engine limit for wins as well, so he probably had more. ...But Lyn ended up with the fewest amount of losses out of any lord and I feel awful about that. And I got the bad ending! Let's gooooooooooo! And the real fin. There are only two thinga left to do... Rankings. Derricc gave me an A in Lyn mode! I am a god gamer! Also, 10: 35 is world record speedrun pace. Now, onto the good part. Oh my god. Oh my actual god. Merlinus himself is telling me that I'm bad. I... Wow. 46 hours. Also, what the heck does 32 screens mean?! And now, the grand finale: Turn count. Why'd I save this part for last? Well, I'm glad you asked. Mekkah-tier strats.
