Neptune not Nepgear xD

I also think everyone should submit their characters first then we mix the bracket with RNG

I would have let you run this already, if it hadn't been just me who's authorized to change the polls.

Anyways I still don't quite understand how this shall be done.

In DQV, I finally got Nera back.
Good lord that took a while. And she's completely underlevelled, too. I mean, 10 years in stone does that to you, but still. I see myself grinding away for her already.
At least I managed to acquire a semi-decent weapon for her in form of the Faerie Foil (that T 'n' T Board stuff seems like a fun minigame, but I'll leave it at this one try), so who knows? Maybe she'll be able to contribute sooner than I'd expect her to.

There's always the casino's Gringham Whip, if you have the patience.

Getting her up to par won't be a problem if you keep her in the reserve party, at least when you have the wagon. If not, there's Metal Slimes to fight at Gotha Pass. Just equip some Poison Needles and you can be good to go.

Deathbattle #1 - Who's the best videogame girl?

Submit your two most favorites.

Mythra and Melia.

(Not submitting Shion cause most of you don't know who she is lmao).

also very disrespectful to other series. Like no matter how good other series are they can never be good as ''x'' series. Or that's the implication anyway

Well that's a different argument. I'm talking more about in a franchise itself. Sometimes it feels like more people would rather focus on the formula than the quality.

Like, Breath of the Wild is a very common example. A lot of "it's a good game, just not a good Zelda game". I personally don't care if it's a "good Zelda game", I just care if it's a good game. If Zelda will be like BotW going forward and it's done well, why would I complain? I got enjoyment out of it, did I not?

Thanks for the tip! ^^

Ah, that argument. I see it time to time when people compare Chrono Cross to Chrono Trigger... and they're being generous, since otherwise it's just criticizing Cross anyway.

I agree. That argument against BotW annoys me greatly, as if the person saying it has the power to determine what is and isn't a Zelda game. When I said what I said about Paper Mario and Fates, I meant more that the change in gameplay was accompanied by a change in game quality. Of course, it does seem that Nintendo has learned from SS and CS in making Origami King, so much so that it's an overall good game that you enjoyed. It's just not a game that I'm likely to play for myself.

Concerning Origami King, there was apparently an interview with the staff members where they noted they weren't allowed to create original characters based on existing ones anymore, which is why most NPCs in modern PM games are just generic Toads.
Or at least that's the gist of it, anyway. I haven't read the whole thing, so take it with a grain of salt.

sorry for being kinda annoying xD

I've ran this kind of events in some forums before, so...

Wait, here's an example

https://steamcommunity.com/app/748490/discussions/0/2860219962103893654/

First, everyone posts there characters (no poll yet)

One we get 16 Characters, we use RNG to determine the brackets.

After that we do daily rounds with polls

I mean, on the other side, I didn't like BotW, if Zelda is going to be with BotW going forward, why would I not be annoyed, I didn't enjoy it and want to go back to a different formula for it.

Fates' gameplay is mostly just standard Fire Emblem tbh so I'm not sure what you mean there in regards to gameplay. You have a point with Sticker Star though. Although I'd say Sticker Star's complete lack of life is a bigger issue than the mediocre gameplay. Color Splash seems to have more life in it at least, even if it is Sticker Star 2.

Fair enough. I agree that they have learned, so much so that I wouldn't really call Origami King "Sticker Star 3". But I also wouldn't say it's exactly a return to form and that's fine. And even if it was a return to form, saying it was good because of that would be doing it a disservice.

Oh yeah, that interview. Yeah that mandate is really fucking stupid. I do not understand why they can't modify existing Mario characters, especially when they do shit like Dr. Goomba Tower in the Dr. Mario mobile game.

Well you just didn't enjoy BotW period. I'm talking more about people who are like "oh yeah, it's a good game, just not a good Zelda game".

It's totally fine to not be onboard with the new direction but that's a different argument tbh.

So like

  1. Question: Mythra vs. Pyra
  2. Question: Estelle Bright vs. Tio Plato
  3. Question: Neptune x Nepgear (if latter will be sumbitted)

No no
Like:

Shrimpy nominates: Estelle, Neptune

Julian nominates: Tio, Lysithea

Armagon nominates: Mythra, Melia

Draggy nominates: Arnice, Hinako

we put these 8 names in a Random List Generator

It gave me the following for Round one

Estelle vs. Neptune

Tio vs. Mythra

Arnice vs. Melia

Hinako vs. Lysithea

just as an example xD

Or the three dozen differnt versions of Mario that already exist.
It's probably not that many, but, you know, examples and such.

I...actually have no idea why I mentioned Fates alongside Paper Mario.

Anyway, yeah. It's nice to see Nintendo actually try to improve, even if they don't necessarily listen closely to what the fans say about the games they release which honestly makes so little sense from the perspective of Nintendo as a company trying to make money.

There's also that part in the interview where they basically said ''we don'T care about fan feedback''

That was a big oof

Yep.
Not exactly grounds to base one's marketing campaign on, that's for sure.

Well those are just power-ups. That doesn't really count.

I'd say that is more of a case by case basis rather than just something Nintendo does. But yeah, it's really stupid that the Paper Mario team doesn't really listen to feedback.

Speaking of Zelda, I really hope they try to.implement Motion controls again. Skyward Sword's my favorite game ever partially because of them, so I'd really like to see Nintendo try it again. I liked the difficulty it provided so much!

Although I get that they won't because I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who liked them in SS's iteration of it....
