Yep! It was a long while back, but hoo boy, that game was a masterpiece, plain and simple. Wow. Simply superb.

Has the same opinion as me.

I would totally recommend it. It's a really interesting experience all-around that feels really personal.

Still the same opinion.

Wait wait wait, it's on the switch? I gotta replay that thing!

According to a quick Google search on the first results, it is 20 Canadian dollars on the Canadian eshop.

I can't say I blame ya. I got stuck for a few weeks on the Asgore fight because...Well, you know about that fight.

I admittedly didn’t have too much trouble with it. My first attempt I died because I suicided, curious to see if anything would happen because *story* xD

I was also jamming out to that absolutely fantastic theme though. Oh so good.

But yeah, I've played through once to the true ending.

I would have done the same thing but bad internet advice stopped me from doing so.

Wait... I am not an expert or anything on this, but

Spoiler

I am 90% sure that you can still get the true ending if you choose not to spare Flowey.

The entire soundtrack is amazing, really. I can't think of any "bad" themes.

You are correct. Benice, are you ever planning on getting a different ending in the game if you replay it? I know I said why I thought that before in a spoiler tag, but it sorta kinda destroys the point of getting one of the endings sorta kinda sooo...

Also my bad internet advice was to play the neutral path first, not to spare Flowey. I think it should just be skipped.

Yep, I agree!

My favorite video game song of all time (that I’ve shilled here before but no one probably listens to xD)

Why does the first map of Valkyria Chronicles Ch.18 have ambush spawns? I know enemies reinforcements come in at the start of enemy phase but see, normally they come from enemy camps that, once you take over, the reinforcements stop.

In this map, that is not the case so enemies just keep coming and coming and you never know which one might fuck you up next.

I honestly don't remember xD

VC4 doesn't have many ambush spawns iirc.

Honestly I don't even remember if the other maps had ambush spawns, I just know that this one has me going "wait a minute, that's illegal".

Does VC4 still have 20 turn limits for literally every map?

I see your preferences, much agreed with my own, especially A tier. Though I'm not that charmed by Airi, and I'd move Makoto up a tier. I'm still delaying on starting Triangulum, so I can't judge Miyako yet.

B-B-Banished

Nah, Airi is the first character of the "tsundere" type I've met.  I really adore her personality, but I can see, if other people don't because this can be annoying. Airi has been the first videogame character I purchased a figure, and honestly it's still my favorite. For its low price (35 €) the quality is really nice.

Hello, everyone.

Yup, this is usually how I went about it, as well.
The thing in NoA2 is that, due to the time limit, you will never be able to do every sidequest on your first playthrough. You have to pick and choose a bit.

In chapter 2, you need to find the missing Shikigami that are scattered across the city of Eurulm.
Beware that you need at least three in-game days to accomplish this (there are three of them total and finding one immediately ends the day). If I remember correctly, the chapter has six days total, so it should be doable. If you explore around Eurulm, you should be able to find them, although the first one is a bit hidden. If you go right at the big fountain in the first area, you reach a plaza with oil barrels. Instead of going to the next area from there, you need to go south.
The others should be right in your path, though. And I THINK if you pull up the pause menu, you should have a map that shows you where they are.
Oh, and if you haven't done so yet, now is a good opportunity to obtain the Servan I was talking about, that is hidden behind the area where the boss was.

Sorry for late reply, but thanks!

Finish chapter 3 yesterday.

For some reason I get lost in the forest first since it was added in the map overview....... till I read the quest.

I finally, after a whole year, finished Valkyria Chronicles. Pretty fun SRPG. Now, it's been a year so some details are a bit fuzzy but i can say what i liked and didn't like.

Liked:

  • Gameplay's pretty fun. Every map is Fog of War but that's the point, that's why your Scouts exist. Interception fire being a thing also helps this.
  • Permadeath exists but there's a three turn grace period that allows you to save a fallen unit, unless an enemy gets to them first. I like this. Although i will say it basically made it impossible to actually lose someone. I don't know if losing your second tank is affected by permadeath but at the very least, the grace period basically ensures you can't actually lose anyone unless you're really, really bad.
  • I didn't know how to feel about it at first but EXP and equipment in this game is basically communism. You don't level up individual units, you level up their class, you don't buy individual weapons, buying weapons applies to every character in that class (though some unique weapons do exist). I like this but it obviously works with this context.
  • Being able to save every turn was nice.

Neutral:

  • The story and characters. There is a part about the story i dislike but i'll get to that. For the most part, the story itself was pretty average SRPG plot. The characters were fine but if your name wasn't Welkin or Alicia, you basically did not exist. Again, it's been a year, i could be missing something. I should point out that i did not play the side stories, mainly because i uh......didn't realize they were there. Until like, near the end of the game. A moment in the story references one of these side missions and i was like "wait shit, where did that happen" and the credits montage also references one of them. It wasn't anything major but yeah, i didn't play the side stories because i didn't realize they were there.

Disliked:

  • Listen, i know that the Empire is supposed to be like, the Nazis and Stalin era Soviet Union rolled into one (although it's mainly Nazis) but like, the start of the game makes it seem like this is a war for resources when it's in reality a war for domination. And i get that they are Nazis but all of the villains except one were mustache twirlers.
  • Didn't really like that every map had 20 turn limit.
  • Calculations need to be a thing because there are times where my characters have the enemy in point-blank range and they can still somehow miss. Accuracy in general was really bad for snipers in the early game. How snipers had the worst accuracy for a while is beyond me. And then Lancers were useful early game, fell off midgame, and i didn't really need them again until the last two chapters.
  • And one part that happens at the end of the game (spoilers)
  • Spoiler

Faldio's heroic sacrifice is one of the stupidest instances of this trope i have ever seen. Bro, you could've just thrown Maximilian into the pit, you didn't have to kill yourself. Literally what the fuck was Maximilian gonna do? "I betrayed you, this is my atonement" bitch, you saved the day. You had Max at checkmate. Why did you kill yourself you absolute dumbass.

Anyways, game's fun, 7/10, will play VC4 when i feel like it. Probably get it for the holidays.

Btw @Shrimperor is there any incentive to play Valkyria Chronicles NG+ or is it just there for the sake of it?

I got reminded of the VC anime.

Spoiler

I think Faldio gets shot there, instead of pulling a murder-suicide. But then again the circumstances of the whole thing is slightly different, as adaptations often do.

Back into Spring in FoMT, both of the house upgrades are complete, the Nature Sprites are working the fields to their maximum capacities again (a little over it actually, I need to reduce my crops by one or two 3x3 plantings). Income has certainly slowed, I didn't realize how even with the lower levels of the mines unavailable, I was raking in good day by day money. The inconstancy of agricultural wealth IRL is being felt, the land is rich, but its yields are in spurts, it is not the ideal form of fortune.

Heart levels range from purple on Brandon to orange on Cliff. Several bachelor/ettes are at green heart though I gave gifts but once or twice at most, thats too fast for no effort other than an almost daily chat and picking the right choices during the heart events.

Next plan is to amass the lumber and material stone for the Bathroom upgrade, it can be some alright Stamina recovery in a pinch. After that, I'll stop chopping wood and pounding rocks, and try to work on my woefully underused Fishing Rod. It's not my fault fishing is money inefficient for the time it takes. But, if I am to get the Cursed tools, I need to start casting the rod a lot. And, the Cursed Tools involve mining. I've got the elevators from the Harvest Goddess now, but they're spaced out every 50 floors and only activate when you've reach that floor for the first time. Getting down 50 floors in a mine manually requires a tremendous amount of stamina to reach, either I save scum, or I load up on heaping amounts of food each time I take the plunge. Neither option is fun.

People who might play Undertale one day (which literally I could recommend to any gamer if they’re looking for something new, seriously

I've never played Undertale, it didn't interest me a whole lot from what I read of. And, I probably overestimated the difficulty of the shump-inspired gameplay. No point in me playing it now, I read the plot summary on Wikipedia. Clever, pleasantly thought-provoking, I'll give it credit there. But the game doesn't catch my eye, nor will I lend it an ear. Sorry!

Airi wasn't a bad tsundere to me, I was looking to see if she ever crossed a line into truly unacceptable temper tantrum behavior, and that never really happened. The scene you're joking about wasn't extremely excessive, because, while it was totally immature, Airi's anger was a reaction to Hinako's rude "you don't have any friends!" remark. The one time Airi possibly crosses the line is when she smacked Jungo twice. But, if thats the extent of the inexcusable, then thats not so bad.

And I keep misspelling "Hinako" as "Hinoka", I'm blaming you Fates!

I'd say the Russian Tsardom in the mixture, down to Maximillian's use of the royal "We" to the end. They were in World War I, until Lenin said "no" to royalty and war.

But yeah, the villains are way too comically flat. I agree with most of your points.

And I can add that Welkin looks like male Robin? Or is it just me who thinks that?

This is pretty much how i feel about Undertale. Sans and Megalovania memes aside, the game is neat but doesn't interest me much.

It's already $30 permanently but if it goes down even lower, i'll take it.

$30 isn't a bad deal anyway.

Ah, i didn't consider that. Tbf, the game is taking place in an alternate version of Earth during an alternate version of World War 2 so i wasn't thinking about pre-Soviet Union Russia.

I will say i do find it humorous that the Empire was Germany and Russia rolled into one considering Hitler and Stalin hated each other iirc.

I.........can't unsee it now. Literally just take Robin's default male look, color the hair brownish-blonde, and you get Welkin.

Tales of Symphonia will get a port for Switch on 20th January 2021.

I yet have to finish this game on my PS3.

Tales of Symphonia really needs a system upgrade, not just a port.

Most definitely. It’s really not that hard, unless you pick the evil route but the game doesn’t want you to do that anyway.

I'll find a video game with a casino that uses entirely fictional currency that I can reset and regain all my losses if I lose if I want a safe gambling high. I used to love the Luigi's mini games in Super Mario 64DS. The simplified version of Poker there gave me fun for hours (not sure if you Europeans have it, I know your laws on gambling in video games, even if it doesn't involve real currency at all, are stricter). The Voltorb Flip game in HeartGold/SoulSilver was as very fun too (and the music was good).

This also brings to mind the casino in Dragon Quest V, where I spent hours and hours trying to get some good stuff.
Perhaps I overdid it a little, but I had fun doing so!
I mean, I also used save states, but shhhh!

Nice, nice!
If I recall correctly, there is a rather tough boss coming up in Chapter 4. And, if you have him, definitely bring Scharf to the next area! You'll get something good if you do!

Happens, don't worry!
There are two Servans hidden away in the forest, so going there isn't entirely useless (I think you get one of them as part of Christophorus' quests).

With that said, I wish you all a fantastic day today!
