you are playing right now the game that retconned her ending xD

What have I done?!? XD

Joking aside, that's interesting!
They do say that Adol is 18 at the beginning, which would put this game as directly after Ys 2, where he's 17... I think!
Do I have that right? I actually don't remember it all that well, haha!

yup. Celceta happens after he left Esteria (he stayed there for a while)

Also it will explain Adol's past and motivations

Oh yeah, Celceta mentioned that in one dialogue, I think!

Unfortunately, I found the controls rather cumbersome

Thinking about it, i do think this can be blamed on the Nintendo PC's keyboard controls. It would explain why you found Space Jumping difficult.

"find secrets by bombing every pixel of the screen" gameplay wasn't enjoyable for me personally.

At least after this game, they do cut that out significantly. There's still hidden secrets by bombing stuff of course but i never felt like i did it in Zero Mission as much as in Fusion. And then Samus Returns has the Scan Pulse, which outright tells you which blocks are breakable.

I think you'd find both of those games more enjoyable but if you don't wanna play more Metroid, i won't pressure. I'll just push the agenda onto everyone else in this thread instead.

Besides you beat Fusion in like a day so it goes to show how quick these games are.

Although I do really hate the Letícia sidequest.I like that you can tell she is nearby if you notice her flag, but considering you don't even know what stage she is in unless you look it up, it's not much of a help in practice. You essentially would have to screen the entire game world top to bottom every time you find one of her locations, if you wanted to do this without a guide.

@Saint Rubenio my Metroid clear times

Super

Fusion

Zero Mission

Samus Returns (excuse the poor quality)

So yeah, if you ever wanna try another one of these, they are all pretty short games.

On that logic, eventually it will be Hulk-snapped back into canon.

Haha imagine if at the end, Adol settles down with Lilia after all.

Dread it. Run from it. Adol/Lilia still arrives.

I'm sorry with how the post can come off... I guess at this point I just get easily bothered with posts like that. Since I can't fathom well that people would find stuff like that as a struggle to overcome. Or that they're taking it out of proportion.

Eh, it's all right. I do have to admit I tend to exaggerate.

My issue was more with the timing. I just couldn't get it down, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Honestly, I've never understood this whole "keyboard controlls are horrible for 2D platformers, you NEED a controller" argument. 3D platformers I can see, since the joystick allows more freedom of movement, but there's no difference between a D-pad and the arrow keys. It's just a matter of being accustomed to one or the other. Frankly, I think I'd do worse with a controller, since I'm not as used to D-pads.

Yeah, I'm afraid this hasn't been a good first impression. I don't think this is my kind of series, unfortunately. Again, I don't think it was a bad game, just not for me.

Well, uh... Actually, I didn't beat Fusion. I got up to Ridley, tried a few times and then just... noped outta there lol. Apparently I just had another boss left after that, but... yeah.

I mean, your point stands. They are pretty short games. Just, well... uh, yeah.

Playable Pikkard would be legit amazing.
Just have five or so really awesome characters for a lot of the game, and then the sixth one is just one of these little creatures. xD

I think it just depends on the game.

I don't use D-pad on controller either. I prefer the control stick.

Really? What was so bad about Ridley? Don't recall anything special about him. Other then the hamfisted way he is inserted into this game.
Now the SA-X, that one might have taken me a few dozen tries.
