If it makes you feel any better, a death I got in the third game almost entirely killed my motivation to continue, and I only got through because that death was at the end of the penultimate chapter (technically third to last chapter but the final chapter is just 10 minutes of story stuff so I only had one real chapter left). I've read once or twice that some of more radical anti-conformist elements of the LGBTQ+ community want to push beyond viewing the standard monogamous relationship as the only solid and moral foundation on which to establish the family unit. This, by sheer coincidence plays into that. Humans are already 99.something% related to each other, why do need the blood relations of old? I see what you mean. Later game it gets much easier to control the battles with sheer options of course. COM/RAV/SEN is always a safe bet, but i prefer COM/RAV/RAV almost all the time. That would be Lightning (me) Fang, and Hope. Or COM/RAV/SAB again, Lightning (me again) Fang, and Vanille. I dont play too much defense! Those two are my go too I guess.
