y'know, Dread's Varia suit design is pretty dope

didn't think I'd dig the color scheme as much as I do, but it's really nice looking

the standard one is pretty neat too, ofc

They redeemed themselves after the belgh Fusion Varia Suit.

Behold the sex... "chair" used by King Edward VII of Great Britain (when he was a prince that is), son of Queen Victoria. Capable of having two women lay upon the upholstery, one on top, one beneath, while His Majesty stands up next to the footrests and alternates between the ladies. -History lesson of the day!

Never underestimate a man's ability to do everything he can to get laid.

Hey wait, have I encountered the generic battle theme yet? Because I do not remember any of the music from that first 2 hours.

You don't recall this?

It's like the first battle theme you hear assuming you don't skip any battles.

Plus, since the only time I'd go to New York would be on a band trip with other grade 11's and 12's, going there would be probably not anyone's idea of a good time.

Sweet shunga sketches no! (Don't look up what shunga was.) I mean, maybe high school seniors would be better than a slightly lower grade level, but I'd imagine the years where the virgins are desperate to be deflowered would make for a nightmarish experience at the museum. Two or three years into college with some post-sex-craze friends would make for a far more chill and enjoyable time.

I'd advise the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a band trip then. The museum IIRC has a good collection of historical instruments, as it does of practically everything artistic under the sun.

@Interdimensional Observer have you ever looked into the Asexuality Spectrum before, as it kinda sounds like you might fit in the grey. Looking up AVEN is a starting place if you are looking into such things.

No I haven't. Though by this point I assume I'm asexual by default, with a leaning towards romanticizing about men as a form of "entertainment" perhaps.  I ponder whether I've adopted that liking due to my internalization of social matters and norms of the world at large, or if it stems from something actually within my psyche. Though recalling Advance Wars: Days of Ruin's final battle and the discussion between Caulder ranting "None of your ideals are your own!" and Will responding "That doesn't matter, I believe in them." leads me me to question, to a degree, if the difference is actually significant.

Quantum of Solace and Spectre are kinda middling, not gonna lie, but Quantum at least has the decency of being a short movie. Bond stories always start grounded until they get campy and then grounded again. Example: Casino Royale is grounded, Live and Let Die follows and is still grounded, if a bit campy, and then what follows is... Moonraker.

I once watched Moonraker when I was younger, though I hardly remember it. Sci-fi and a villain who attempts to kill all humans on Earth via poison gas so his selected humans in a space colony will inherit the world instead. I know that by that point, reading stuff online, that the franchise was becoming lost and venturing into... questionable territory (tbf when you feel the need to crank out so many movies so often, I get how that could happen). I'm not sure if it's actually the worst Bond film, but it does appear to deserve a special place for being misguided. The best thing about the movie is that it had laser guns which then made their way into Goldeneye and lasers were fun when I was playing that game as a kid with likewise young relatives at our grandparents' house.

Well that was a bit shit. I'm concerned I will fail on this bar and thus another chance at employment goes down the drain.

FFS.

What else would be in the discussion? Die Another Day? Something else which I don't know because I have next to no experience with the series?

Caulder has a.... standout take on ideals that's for sure. Though how original are his own is what I'd ask him.

As for how you'd define yourself as in regards to romantic/sexual status, I won't pretend I know you well enough to give more advice beyond what's already been said.

Yeah, I'll stick to something more tame, like the Nautral History Museum or something. Or the one that you suggested!

My condolences. 😐

If this is your third time failing an exam(?), I advise not returning home with some scriptures, falling asleep, having a vision you're the little brother of God, and starting a political rebellion that results in the deaths of 20-30 million. That won't work out well. (Hong Xiuquan is a lesson for every failed exam student, don't fret over failure too much.)

They aren't, Caulder is merely Better Izuka IMO. Just another mad scientist invented by Intelligent Systems, who sees traditional morality as worthless, and his research as the greatest achievement in all of human history and must therefore be allowed to continue unfettered.

Unlike puny Izuka, Caulder/Stolos/Berith will destroy you if you get within range of his CO Zone. A radius of 3 with +50% Attack & Defense for all units with 5 (money-consuming) HP healing at the start of every turn will do that. Thank goodness he has no CO Power for a modicum of "balance". The game automatically banned him from being used online for a reason. I used to love his theme, which vaguely reminds me of Ashnard's battle theme, but listening to it now, boy it's a cacophony.

I'm not entirely sure myself from what I remember reading. Though perhaps the one with the "Bond girl" whose psychic powers are premised on her having her virginity, that sounds awful. Once Bond entered the 1970s, things went downhill until a modest Brosnan revival and Craig's modern renaissance. Thats the gist of it.

I don't think I need much advice, would be nice to have 100% confirmation, but honestly I don't need it. Like there is anyone out there who fully understands themselves? There is the unknown all around us, and there is the unknown within. Curiosity towards both is always good -unless your curiosity extends to doing something illegal.

I just realized Carlyle looks a bit like the evil atheist dude in the movie God's Not Dead. I also just found out that the evil atheist dude in the movie God's Not Dead is played by the same actor who played Hercules in that shlocky TV show from the 90s. I occassionally watched that as a kid. Never was that much of a fan, though I did play the N64 videogame. What an odd chain of thoughts and memories this is.

Anyway, the hack just gave me Klimt. I like that, Carcino needed a different playable character than Rennac, who hardly ever acknowledges the place, and Klimt disappears from the plot after his introduction. Yet another thing from this hack I wish had been in the original game. Of course, he has no supports, like all of these new characters the hack adds, but that's okay. It's cool just to get to play with him. He's a mage knight, too. That's way rad, I don't need to stoop to using Lute for a mounted mage.

I feel this a lot with Days of Ruin's soundtrack, and Radiant Dawn's as well to a lesser extent. I dunno, maybe I'm just an uncultured swine and a musical expert could tell me all the ways in which their soundtracks are great, but a lot of those games' themes just feel like horns, violins and organs going apeshit with no rhyme or reason. Radiant Dawn does have some great tracks here and there (Naesala's theme comes to mind), but Days of Ruin is generally rather unpleasant to my ears.

Whilst I enjoy the soundtracks of both games, I get what you mean. They're rich and grandiose, and even for myself I can sometimes find them at fault. We can turn to cooking for why that might be bad, depending on one's mood and the individual in question. Sometimes, rich foods packed with ingredients result in individuals flavors being lost, the food becomes bloated with carbs and fat, and later on the consumer of said food has a serious case of indigestion. I will, unfortunately, never forget the time I had french toast coated in pancake batter. 🤢

That, and as a separate, but perhaps related lesson- orchestration does not inherently make music good. It needs to be properly calibrated, just because video games were once incapable of using anything other than chiptune, doesn't mean one should rush into "real" instruments without thinking it through. This I have learned over my years.

...And speaking of pancakes, maybe I should watch that vid on the history of pancakes now. I'm hungry.

I doubt I'm going to think that highly of myself, we're probably safe.

That aside, this is a motivation in the event of continuous failure in a current system.

Don't stoop Caulder to Izuka's level, that's mean to Caulder. Caulder killed someone who actually had a part in the plot.

Contrary to Eph's route, which was relatively easy till the final map, which was hell, Eirika's route has been hell until the final map. Even Carlyle didn't put up much of a fight. Mostly because I have Neimi, who is broken beyond belief.

Indeed, you described it better than I could. I feel like Forsyth/Carter's theme is the worst offender. Listening to it, it feels like there's no melody, just an assortment of instruments going "waah waah" over and over in a vaguely heroic manner. Eugh.

On a more positive note, I've always been fond of Penny/Lili's theme. It's... unique, to say the least, but ironically enough, it doesn't suffer from the cacophony issue as much as the more traditional tracks. It feels more "focused", so to speak, even while being probably the weirdest theme in the game.

Can't say I blame you, the man doesn't make much of an impression, and being stuck in the much maligned Eirika route does him no favors either.

Speaking of Eirika's route, playing this hack has reminded me of why I'm always sad to pick Eph route for the superior Lyon and challenge. Aias, Carlyle and Pablo are all really solid for one-off villains, the Gerik/Innes stuff in chapter 10 is absolutely amazing, the political intrigue with Carcino and the Jehanna stuff is more interesting than "Ephraim gets on a boat" and "Ephraim gets off the boat," and well, I don't think I need to mention Joshua's battle convo with Caellach, do I?

I'll admit I'm very slightly disappointed by the hack's handling of Scorched Sand. Instead of using both armies or some shit like that, there's a scene of Innes saying he and Eirika have gotten separated from the army during the escape from Jehanna Hall. Then, Ephraim's army gets to the desert and it's just Eirika, Innes and Saleh, with nobody else to be seen. Only members of Ephraim's army are deployable.

Oh, well. Too bad, but I understand. Putting the entirety of Eirika's army up there would've broken the map, and letting Ephraim deploy members of the other army would've been weird. Not much else the hacker could've done here.

...A bit more jarring is what happens if Innes (and I'm assuming Saleh too) is dead. I used a save state on the previous map to kill him and then move on. Innes just revived himself to be with Eirika in the desert. Weird.
