I mean, I would hope "hygene is important" would be a given for anybody interested in engaging in sexual intercourse. Don't matter whether the pee pee goes in the shitter or the pisser. Icky things come outta both. That isn't the kind of topping you want on your treat. Better keep things clean.

Why are you making me say these things, Observer?

Though NGL, being a roguelike puts me slightly on edge, an action platformer could very well be better than the "Not for me" mystery dungeon format I associate with the phrase on gut instinct.

I can confirm it is, as someone who's played both.

That, I dunno, having "Rogue" in a roguelike's name... stabs me in the stomach with its absolute lack of creativity. You don't see a game called "Japanese Role Playing Legend", you get far better titles like "Infinite Undiscovery", "Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean", and "Super Robot Wars: OG Saga: Endless Frontier Exceed".😏

The name had significance in the first game. In this one... I think it does too but you need to go REALLY deep to see it.

Anyway, how dare you judge the game I like by its name. I'll kill you.

I mean, getting the game to work at all even in its "simple" form is already what could make them burnt out. So don't think that just because other people took it PLUS ULTRA means the OG developers were only doing the bare minimum... when the bare minimum was likely the bulk of the effort.

I'm gonna disagree here, but your fine to believe that.

I never worried much about Murder Holes since Teutons get them for free anyway.

Although I think I heard people say that it's best not to get the tech. Not just because of the cost but also because it results in the castle targeting rams over enemies they can actually damage.

It'd be funny if it truly be like, right behind your starting point.

I don't know where XC3's starting point will be, I'm sure there are plenty of games where that happens.

As if Monolith would resort to Breath of the Wild's format of storytelling. I don't think that'd work with the stories they try to tell.

XCX hid the final chapter location until the plot demanded it, despite its location being reachable as early as like pre-Chapter 4, that it was hidden wasn't without some feasibility though. That, and dimensions are crossable in XC, so the big baddie could be open their little pocket dimension and either let us in, or their invisible forbidden magic floating artificial continent out, at the time deemed appropriate.

I mean, I don't think that will actually happen. Certain areas will likely be barred behind story progress, and powerful monsters will likely be around to discourage you from going too far off the intended path.

"Roguelikes" are referred to as such because they're similar to the game Rogue, so the name could be a reference to that. As another genre name fun fact, first person shooters used to be called "Doom clones".

Edelgard and the Adrestian Empire invading your school isn't an excuse to ignore your studies. How are you going to get the transfer bonus to the next semester otherwise?

Maybe Thales will blast you off a cliff and you'll be in a coma for five years, but Kuro no Kiseki II will probably be localized by the time you wake up. You would still have to wait for the Leman arc to be released though...

I swear, every FE4 JP mod that i played the dev of it places the Master Knight (M) sprite everywhere! (I.E., every class thats mounted uses it)

I know making battle sprites is difficult for SNES games, but really? I used to like the design, but now? ...eh.

Logistics are fun everywhere /s

Coming from here, a lower density populace encourages car ownership simply because there's a higher proportion of people who need it to get anything. Especially when plenty live outside even the boundaries of villages/the village might as well be argued as not exist in some contexts. And when your bus schedules are underserved for reducing this (and with rural ones they take long enough I can hardly blame that case) and your rail network has atrophied massively over decades and only begun to be recovered, it's going to take time and effort to get things up and going.

True, I had forgotten about rural communities in my earlier considerations. Let them be forgotten and they'll suffer as they usually have, and possibly lean them more towards certain politics because the traditional leadership has failed them for decades on end.

I didn't intend to make you say anything!😆 There is no psychological trickery going on here. By the unbreakable quietude of Derrick I swear!

Tis merely the result of an impulse of a no-life individual who has the capacity for restrain, but couldn't self-moderate to the degree that an ordinary person would, who would have avoided making such a joke here altogether. The opportunity was way too good for me to pass up.😝

As if I wasn't throwing shade on a genre with names whose "creativity" sends it careening off the ledge of basic comprehensibility and brevity at the same time?😛

To borrow the old Shakespeare quote, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". If roses when they got their English name so long ago were called "turds" and turd was called "roses", we would be assembling bouquets of turds as gifts to people without a second thought and thinking it romantic, while we'd be laughing at disgusting childish rose jokes. Words and names might start bland, iffy, or downright bad, but some (not all- a few exceptions exist) can be made great. So I assert.

I was aware of this. And I suppose it's better than "procedurally-generated games", which is too lengthy a term. I also admit hypocrisy by being perfectly fine with "Metroidvania" as a phrase.

1 hour ago, Lightchao42 said:

True, that could be the case. Though just where will the final dungeon be located? Now that you have me thinking about it. One possibility- since the world is half-XC1 and half-XC2, the game cannot show "favoritism" and end in a location belonging to one game specifically. Therefore, we must examine points remote or points symbolically equidistant between XC1 and XC2 regions, where the possibly of fitting terra incognita lay. Even if the landmass isn't actually so unknown. I'll submit the data to MOMO for triangulation.

I know, thousands of years have passed, Valak Mountains no longer "belongs" to the Bionis of XC1, nor does Gormott belong to the Alrest of XC2 either. Maybe I shouldn't keep attaching things so. Though I won't rule out the possibility Monolith is thinking as I am either. SRW almost always (way too many games for a perfectly consistent record) ends with an original boss not belonging to any licensed mecha, likely to avoid bias, and even OGs tries to blur the lines a little on its final opponent. That is an influence on me.

"Common ground" would be another option. Does XC1 and XC2 have any of that? Well...

Spoiler

The ruins of Elysium that survived reentry through the atmosphere? We are treated to a snippet of the Experiment in XC1. It sorta counts.

Sounds... boring, anticlimactic. Too familiar.

I'm going to rule out the outer atmosphere/space, even if video game invisible ceilings and walls would be deployed as always to prevent a trip to Mercury, Neptune, Mira or Miltia. That, and without mechs, we couldn't exactly have the heroes fighting in the vacuum of space. We'd need a satellite to walk on, or maybe the Moon.

Okay, did some of the last stuff in Falkreath I had pending... well, still sticking to everything west of Helgen. Also did some construction at Lakeview Manor. Just about the only thing left is to kill the vampire at Bloodlet Throne. Once I do I'll finally return to Whiterun. Also tried out Agni's archery challenges. Thought I'd have trouble with the last one, but I did it on the second try. And that was the first time I ever visited her cabin, haha.

Also this is something @Armagon theorized about recently, but Xenoblade 3's description on Nintendo's website was recently edited to mention that it has a "rich open world" (compare the original description on the SE's page), so now we know it actually is a seamless open world. Which makes sense, since the world isn't split among separate Titans like the previous two games were. I can't wait to run to the final dungeon immediately after leaving the starting area.

Most likely it's just gonna be the areas are connected seamlessly but you still progress in a linear fashion. Although i wouldn't be surprised if Aionios has you backtracking through some areas.

Open-world games generally don't mesh well with linear storytelling. Ever wonder why Xenoblade X's story follows a more mission-based approach over just following the story natrually?

To be fair, that's not just online love-making, that's all of life lol. We've allowed our lives to revolve around money too much, considering it's an abstract, intangible concept that we created ourselves.

🤮

My 'drive is dead now. Maybe in two decades when I'm closer in age to this I'll appreciate it, but right now I want anime young men. And nothing could ever get me to love the horribly cheap visuals. I need strong, polished, top quality art direction for my innermost desires, even if it ends up looking a little generic.

How is this releasing on the Switch?

Still, it's finally terminated what I've wanted gone for the past couple days, I thank it. My brain was so overflowing with energetic positive dopamine-generating thoughts last night I couldn't fall asleep until after 3:00 AM. That was annoying.

11 hours ago, Armagon said:

Nothing significant. I spent too much time distracted from resuming Ys IX by thoughts of eros, and then started laughing at myself for the eros.😆 Though I've now gotten back to Monstrum Nox and should finish it in the next few days. I also decided to give myself a refresher on the Ys VIII ost b/c I had forgotten it, and have logged in about two days several hours of listening to the exact same tracks at this point and I'm not tired of it.😎🎧 (They really need to add a person jamming with headphones emoji.)

And there was that pinch of XC2 "where is the final dungeon gonna be?" talk you picked up on. I was also reminded in a much earlier and unrelated chat I was having of how I wish Jin in the XC2 maingame had one or two design tweaks. To be precise (lategame XC2 spoilers)...

Spoiler

I was thinking maingame Jin should've had some hair coloration differences from his Torna self. Specifically, a little of Lora's hair color, or perhaps a faded shade of it. Not all of his hair, I was thinking more on the tips as a highlight.

The reason being, Jin is a Flesh Eater. And he specifically ate Lora. Flesh Eaters physiologically different from Blades by having human DNA integrated into their Blade DNA, is that not the case? Since Jin most regrettably consumed Lora, he should have her DNA in his body. If Blade and Driver can influence each other's personalities in normal circumstances, why not let Flesh Eating do something more?

Hair color modification is the most reasonable option I could think of for making Jin show hints of being hybridized with Lora's DNA. Giving him slight breast endowment b/c Lora female I deemed too preposterous.

And thinking on it. Did the game actually show what Nia looked like before she munched? I forget. Did she really have Gormotti animal ears before her fateful snacking? If she didn't, well that sure as heck would've been a physiological Eater-induced change. Why couldn't have Jin gotten just a little more than a boring blue to red crystal color change then?

I object to this accusation. We're not insane, the world is insane and we're just trying to cling to some shred of sanity!

Or, maybe we are and I'm spouting a tired cliche that took off no later than the second or third decade of the 1900s.😄

Love is either: strange b/c hormones and the most base of animal instincts override our sophisticated "civilized" modern brains, which are perhaps blind to thinking about the reality. Or, in some saintly cases, we are truly selfless, whose hearts are strong enough to love the "ugly".

Still, you're making me think of trying to find a way to make the ancient-yet-long-popular humoral concept of health modern and sexy. I'm a phlegmmmy boy looking to get balanced with some yellow bile! *Checks Wikipedia for what each humor represents* ...What do you mean "melancholy" literally means "black bile"? Okay, "melan" I knew meant "dark", but the word I've oft used to describe myself is nonetheless surprisingly... simplistically biological with a hint of the grotesque. Or perhaps it should be unsurprising given how long the health doctrine associated with Galen endured.
