Also, I started Future Redeemed. When is A being added to Super Smash Bros.? FR is probably pretty short, so playing it alongside something else shouldn't be too troublesome. I picked Lin, whom I later regretted picking as I thought she'd be really underpowered, until I discovered CO zone increases with the gauge, and her power being completely useless means she can just stay maxed and buff people. Then I won. Yeah, you know what? I think Advance Wars is finally starting to click with me. I might give Days of Ruin another shot soon, just because bikes and fixed FoW are cool. Or, well, Dark Conflict. O'Brian >>> Brenner. Luck of the Irish and all. For now, though, Eirika paralogue. Since he doesn't get her, I might as well try a Zelkovless map for once. Every other turn the solution to the current conundrum is "burn tiles so the enemy can't walk to me." I would 100% have lost Eirika's paralogue when Eirika charged at me with her entire squad, but once the fliers were dispatched it became a simple matter of burning the chokepoint, then killing the enemies one by one as they slowly make their way towards me. Rinse and repeat till Eirika gets here. Heck, for as much as I praised the synergy in my first run, Divine Dragon Alear with Corrin is completely redundant. Every dragon vein type pales in comparison to the mystical flames. Who needs avoid or defense when you can simply obstruct the enemy so they can't even reach you? Leaving the enemy at 1 movement (2 for mounts) is going to grant you invincibility 9 times out of 10. And you get some free chip damage as well. And the fire cannot kill your units, so you don't have to worry about that either. And it cannot be bypassed by the enemy, unlike the breakable ice tiles! It's insane how I've weaseled my way out of dire situations by just going "Vandad burn that chokepoint." Add to that the ability to make any enemies useless with Draconic Hex and leave entire clusters of foes stuck in place with Dreadful Aura (up to a whopping 10 ENEMIES with ideal positioning and Torrential Roar), and the Emblem's just kind of out of this world. Spoiler Yeah the radio is full of references to Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade X. The Dimitri Yuriev name-drop in particular got an audible "bruh" from me. The Xenoblade X reference provides some neat juxtaposition. The radio mentions how the ships can carry 1.5 million people at the same time Na'el is giving cookies to the kids, saying there's enough to go around. Thing is, in Xenoblade X, one of the plot points is that there genuinely wasn't enough room and out of 9.98 billion population, only 20 million were able to be saved. Humanity in X was only able to have a future by abandoning people and Na'el (and Alpha) wanted just that, except they don't see anything wrong with it. The Xenogears reference is the most subtle one, just a mention of "Philadelphia-Class Motherships", which is the designation of the most important ship in Xenogears (this is not revealed in the game itself lol).
