Kind of you to say! Ahh, hardly excellent, though. I've a long way to go before I am hired by IntSys to draw a FE cast and I present the world with the first all old, all bearded, no children allowed roster.

Comparing to someone who does it for a living is rather unfair to yourself.

Been playing a fair bit of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and it is such an odd game. I still find its "health" system so weird, with both Posture and Vitality, Posture recovers with time but the higher the Vitality left, the higher the Posture recovery, and while you can kill with Vitality damage, dealing Vitality is difficult due to enemies propensity for blocking/deflecting, whereas Posture damage is very easy to deal, as even blocked attacks deal it, and deflecting/counter enemy attacks deal a lot, so usually Posture is a boss's real health bar (regular enemies tend to vary), whereas Vitality tends to be your real health bar (its rare for enemies to be able to capitalize on you filling up your posture, whereas you can deal "killing" blows when you fill enemy's posture). I am surprised how much of the game you can get through before facing Genichiro, and I even got to the Shelter Stone before beating him, and continuing my trend of facing the bosses out of order, that means I faced the Illusory Corrupted Monk before Genichiro. I have also faced the Folding Screen Monkeys, and am about to face off against the Guardian Ape...

It really is just Dark Souls down there.

was going to say "automatically their best game because starring a cat means they can't be unnecessarily horny this time" but then I realized I was confusing them for Wayforward. These guys just made a porn game series.

What?

On WayForward, I'm guessing he's dunking on Shantae's female designs. Which I sorta see, even if I get a strong silly, family-friendly vibe from Shantae.

As for Inti, I presume Gal*Gun. Though if so, I'd think the Japanime term for that would be "ecchi", maybe.

This is intriguing for Inti. The first new IP since Dragon: Marked for Death and an artstyle that's not pixels and a focus on softer platforming rather than the fast-pasted action platforming they are known for. Let's see how this goes.

This image does indicate bosses will be a thing. (Quite the eldritch abomination might I say.) But I get what you mean, the brief trailer barely includes any enemies, which could very well reflect the intended tone. Something less Mega Man, more Mario/Sonic, where bosses are more an obligation of being a video game than something you actually the game for -although Inti might not take it that far.

Only way it could be worse is if the cat transmutes into a human at any point.

Slowed the trailer down to see this flash. Notice the pointy hood.

The description does say that the cat will be able to invoke the powers of other animals -nothing says humans though. Given the praying hands, quite possibly the dead cat's master, or someone else trying to help it escape the afterlife.

Think on the bright side- the game's aesthetic does not lend itself to including generic anime catgirls. Which would be the worst-case human form.

I'd say, it's interesting they pointed out Sosuke would be 40. Since if he still goes on to pilot...

Also, the fact the majority of those polled do wanted to see him that old.

Age is just a number. Doesn't matter if it has some kind of kinetic body-machine connection system, not like that ever stopped Master Asia (or Vindel for a less aged example).

Maybe Japan isn't so youth-obsessed as we've thought. Or, simply that in this case that fans have still had enough of the young man, why not seriously change him up?

I guess it depends on who got polled. Like, if it included those that read/saw the novels/anime back then when they were of similar age to the characters...

I believe that is the premise yes. The cat is trying to come back to it's owner.

And of course, you can never be too old to pilot a mecha. Not when these guys exist:

Showing SRW K version since it has El Infierno y Cielo.

Better than witnessing LinkxGanondorf smut. HeroxVillain h-scene fanart has no appeal to me whatsoever, since intimacy should be consensually fun. Likewise, the CloudxSephiroth stuff I've bumped into is utter garbage, not helping that I find Sephy to be quite dull nowadays.

...Do the above images fix your brain?😜

I'm crying. I'm empty. I'm satidfied. I'm having all sorts of feelings now. I received a gut punch in the best of senses. No relationship has made me feel the way this work did in a long time, I thought my previously jaded heart had frozen. One of the best of the medium and I can't stop reminiscing the scene where it all came together.

Today is going to be an emotional day, there's still Bobby's farewell later. But I am truly grateful.

Shantae and all their other games I've seen lol. They all have this "oddly wholesome but very much horny" vibe to them.

Yes, a porn game.

I meant it honestly, though. These guys seem to have a better grasp of when to be horny and when to not be.

No but all dicking around aside, that looks great and it has a cat.

... But wait... Why is there a Firefox symbol on top of the healthbars?

Awww. Is this going to be the greatest platformer since Beard Blade?

No Rubenio, it’s that Engage has sold several hundred thousand units less then TH within the same span of a few months after its release.

Here’s our full translation of Honne’s comments:

After Baten Kaitos II, we aimed to release Baten Kaitos III on the next generation of consoles, looking to Bandai Namco for funding, Monolith for the plot and artwork, and tri-Crescendo for programming, but due to Bandai Namco’s restructuring and budget review, as well as tri-Crescendo’s financial struggles, III was cancelled. After that, there were also plans for a DS version, but that was cancelled too.

I had heard about tri-Crescendo’s troubles from Shiba-san, being on the verge of bankruptcy. It seems development of Eternal Sonata averted disaster by reusing code during pre-production to lower costs.

There were rumors of under-the-table dealings between tri-Crescendo and Bandai Namco, of course, but for the sake of keeping the company running, Hatsushiba-san’s options were limited, and maybe management saw that he had no other choice. Anyway, Baten Kaitos is a complicated series with lots of circumstances involved.

Interesting. Monolith was willing, it was its owner and co-developer that stymied plans and it sounds more justified than the curtailment of XS. Nice tidbit on Eternal Sonata too as someone who played that.

Reminder- not the first time Yasuyuki Honne, director for Baten Kaitos, has spoken about this. Back in 2018.:

Honne’s full words:

“It’s been more than 10 years since the release of Baten Kaitos II, and even now it pains me that I continue to receive requests for a sequel. I think the statute of limitations has run out, so I can say a little bit about it. Immediately after the release of Baten Kaitos II, Namco (now Bandai Namco) worked on a sequel up until the pre-production phase, but just before Baten Kaitos III could become a reality, the story ended due to the circumstances of the involved parties.

If we made it, it would have been grand-scale game with settings at the bottom of the sea, on land, and in the sky. There’s a large amount of concept art for the sequel sealed away at Bandai Namco. Requests for a sequel should be directed not just to myself and Monolith Soft, but also to Bandai Namco.”

His new remarks appear consistent with this.

(The Namco + Bandai merger happened in September 2005, Origins was released in Japan the February after this. The sub-merger of Namco Bandai Games was announced the January before, the actual creation of NBG happened on the last day of the March after. The timing seems perfect for ruining plans for Baten Kaitos III. As I would imagine it would've taken a little time to figure out what to cut from the newly-merged budget, enough time for Monolith to begin making artwork of hope before their aspiring wings of the heart would be clipped. Eternal Sonata released in Japan in June 2007, which might give an end date for when BKIII died. Although it could've been shelved sooner given it speaks of pre-production woes with Eternal Sonata.)

Fun fact: Hyacinth is the name of a plant, but also a mineral. King Hyacinth fits the naming schemes of both his country and its bitter enemy. Imagine if IntSys had gotten clever with that.

Indeed, and it's going to lead to the scenario I described.

But, well, we'll always have fangames. And Kaga, as long as he's around.

It's not Saint Seiya, just some indie game.

But to answer your question, there are two, figuratively and literally.

No chance of that happening and you know that. Maybe this time they'll finally listen to the criticisms of Engage and Three Houses both and get it right.
