Ironically a game like Genealogy would have been perfect for this. Want to rush with your cavalry? Enemy forces have small wall of horseslayer wielding units as their frontline.

Perfect against cavalry charges until supplanted by the three-man rotation arquebus volley. Or so.

True, schiltron would've been good there. Though as you imply, it'd be more of an enemy thing than a player technique. Pikemen as I understand it are weak in small numbers, you need them amassed to become that great porcupine-snake hybrid monstrosity which would be suicide to charge up against. A lone spearman isn't enough, and IRL, thankfully spears were easy to make and easy to train a fresh conscript in.

FE having limited player units limits the possibility of amassing the cartoonish semicircle of unapproachable pointy sticks and maybe shields. Because, either you wouldn't have enough troops to do it, or, you'd end up having to invest too many characters into it to make it work.

True. If by which you mean FE allowed you to assign some replaceable generic grunts to named characters ala Langrisser and Brigandine, then integrating phalanxes would be more feasible. Though such a move would mean a whole lot of complications requiring careful adjustment to.

Well, I was going to play all of chapter 8 tonight but it got really late really quickly so I suppose I’ll settle for the first castle.

I like how the game is at least warning me that Thracia will likely do something very Kaga-y. I should probably send someone better than Oifey to defend the first castle. Maybe Larcei, since she needs to promote anyway... Maybe Oifey would be able to hold his own against (gotta assume the worst here) hordes of dracoknights? I’m not sure. But then, would Finn?

Nothing riles me up more than Smash Ultimate players wasting everyone's time by t bagging at the edge of the stage. Of course same said idiots always get wrecked by me so I guess that just shows that they are too afraid to play maybe?

Dont waste everyone else's time that actually wants to have fun and learn more. Go mess around offline and waste your own time. This is honestly becoming an issue quickly. And not just for me, this is so common and I cant believe people are this immature. Grow up, please!

The journey is complete.

CrossCode: A New Home contains literally everything i wanted out of the epilogue. Though it's DLC (hardly expensive tho, less than $10), it is mandatory for the full experience, especially if you were a tad bit disappointed by the ending to the main game. The true final dungeon? Kino. The true conclusion of Lea's story? Kino. The main game was a complete game but just like Torna ~ The Golden Country, you're gonna want to get A New Home to experience the entire thing.

So yeah, in conclusion, play CrossCode.

You know, this was RadicalFishGames' first game and it's not often a video game studio, especially an indie one, puts out a masterpiece as their first game. Very interested to see what the future holds for this studio. If their next game is even just half as good, then i they'd probably overtake Inti Creates as my favorite indie devs.

Which reminded me of something else: since DLC characters don't appear in each other's Spirit Boards, Jin won't be represented by Sephiroth in his spirit battle. What a sad day...

Say it ain't so.

Well, this is assuming Jin is even in the Spirit Board (he probably will be now remember to quote me when i'm wrong) but like, Jin's gotta be represented by Sephiroth. It's too perfect.

As if FE really understands the value of schiltrons and pikes in general? Well, poleaxes and horseslayers true, but besides FEH a tiny bit, it hasn't.

Would be interesting to see a Fire Emblem game incorporate them. Maybe a dual approach map where one team needs to destroy the pikes from behind so that the cavalry can safely move through.

I think I should just barely have enough money to revive the parents, but I have run into a bit of an awkward snag...with Claude and Dew going on an epic quest for even more revival money, and with all the dead scrubs, that only leaves one eligable bachelor lying around for Lachesis...

....

...

Arden...its the curse of @Saint Rubenio, he was right, I should have trained that old armor better all along...

As for the chapter, I have been taking it a little slow to keep the two pairs together...altough I honestly don't know if I have enough time for them to marry at this point, but I will give it my best effort. I also went and saw the Lex fighting his father convo for fun as well. Here we are at turn 20 of chapter 5 (so 240 overall), I already revived Aideen, and Ayra should be revived before I take the next castle...probably...

Ok, I guess I seized the nect one a little early...so turn 26 (so 246 overall), and Phimora is taken...not quite enough money for the last revival, but I should make it in time...It feels a little redundant, but

Geneartion 1 done on turn 53 (so 273 overall), and if Reptor hadn't Pavised the first 6 hits, I would have finished it all before 50. It was close, but Arden managed to get himself a wifey, all the parents were revived, and Holyn and Bridget managed to marry in time as well (I wasn't sure they were going to make it...) To be fair I played it far safer with the wyverns than I had to, which slowed things down as well (should have just tossed Holyn in there earlier...)

Heres how we ended up...

You kiddin' me? Oifey is awesome, he can do it. He has like 10 base magic, get him a magic sword and he's set. Of course, I would question why you would have one of the biggest badasses in gen 2 cower in a castle instead of one of the... children, but I suppose I know the answer already.

The answer is that you have poor taste in units.

You might need two castle defenders, though. When I played chapter 9 two squads headed for Meath and Kapathogia both. From what I've heard, the pros like to send Hannibal to defend the first castle. He can do it with ease at base, so that's unironically a great use for the man. So yeah, Oifey and Hannibal can get it done.

I wish the game would allow Hannibal's adjutant to stay and defend the castle instead of disintegrating along with the rest of his army when Hannibal switches sides. Would have been kinda neat.
But I suppose in that case the castle would need to turn green too. And then it's no longer a Warp location.

Huh... Just noticed Tristan has a 130% HP growth. That's pretty amazing actually. No one in the 1st generation goes above 110%. And Tristan doesn't even have holy blood.

Look at that, he's secretly amazing. You know, except for the fact that he sucks in every other conceivable way.

He doesn’t need exp and is reasonably good at not dying.

Right... Well, okay, jokes aside, Oifey on castle defense duty is an okay idea. But, to be honest, there's no reason to leave anyone behind. If your castle is in danger, you can just use warp and return. Have your team with you to help as long as you can.
