The actual trap is shutting multiple doors behind you once you walk into the room, and then summoning multiple ballista to shoot at you. Britain is likely seeing the writing on the wall of its Colony Empire, and is trying to be one step ahead. Some Vic2 mods actually try to implement decolonization mechanics. It is a bit of an exposition dump, but I think it works to help remind Cyltan to be humble after he was being a bit of an ass, since it's a story about the actions of his father and how they scarred other people.
