It really cannot be stressed enough - this is an indie franchise made by one 19-year-old who primarily started making games as a medium to share his music, if I recall correctly. And yet it's the oldest indie franchise in the world, that's still going almost 30 years later. That's fucking impressive. Of course, 30 years means there's a crapton of games, so it's no wonder most people haven't played them all. But it's known. Especially with how the official games are bullet hell (emphasis on hell), a genre not exactly made to be the most accessible. And yeah, the "hell" part is emphasized... particularly in games 11 and 12... ESPECIALLY 12. Like... I was just watching and even I was sweating bullets during game 12's final boss! I get fans are free to be creative in the way they want to, but idk. I just don't care for it. ZUN's original designs have plenty of charm on their own.
