Ancient Rome, eh? Wouldn't that be an interesting Marth remake if they fully embraced the age of antiquity aesthetic.

What FEs have you played? What games count as “the older games” can vary a bit from person to person.

As of right now I have only played Birthright, Conquest, Awakening, Blazing Blade, Shadow Dragon, and Shadows of Valentia. Only two of those six games have I actually beaten and only one of those two games would I say I experienced everything it had to offer.

So yes, I am still very much a series beginner.

Considering this, his bare legs are hardly a surprise.

What DOES drive me nuts is that he has these straps on the leg, despite not actually wearing sandals.

Greco-Roman overall. Archanea likely derives from the Acarnania region of Greece. And then there's just plain Macedon/Macedonia.

The reason modern FEs have more fanservice is because more people make horny fanart of their characters, thus making the devs realize that this is what the player base likes.

And once again, the chapter was not so bad because it was ridiculously easy. Oh well, it’s the end of the game anyway. On to Gharnef, although it sucks that I had to get rid of the Starsphere for Starlight because it means I actually have to worry about uses of Tiki’s divine stone now.

How would you even attempt this chapter without Starlight anyway?

Are you looking to play more soon? And which two did you finish (with which one being the one where you experienced everything)?

That’s perfectly fine though, I started becoming active in this thread when I’d played about as much.

I mean, yeah. I always say that it's obvious that Nowi is just a redesigned Tiki. She even has the crown for no reason.

The amount of porn that Shiida and Tiki had easily eclipsed that of any other character. Maybe she even had more then Shiida.
In any case IS knew what they were doing with Nowi.

I think you get an alternate unit? (Though that may only be if Tiki's dead, not Starlight) I can't quite remember, sorry.

You simply ignore Gharnef and seize.

But in the original game, this would leave you with preciously little options to actually damage Medeus.

Which is kinda funny, considering in the remake, Marth is really bad at actually taking on Medeus at all. He needs to reach 21 to average the speed needed to not get doubled by Medeus even on Normal Mode, which wouldn't even have been possible in the original game due to being capped at 20.

No, actually. Her diadem is completely different from Tiki's. It's actually more similar to Naga's, except Nowi lacks the central piece in hers. The one wearing a similar tiara to Tiki's is Nagi.

If you’re talking about 24x and Nagi, that’s if Tiki’s dead in the next chapter and you don’t have Falchion (according to SF). Gharnef’s chapter is 23, though. Or just download the full content patch.

Much, much easier said than done though.

Marth in general seems like not the greatest in this game.

He has the same bases and growths.

His problem is just that Medeus and the Manakete in the final two maps were given an insane amount of speed.

Not to mention that archetypes are in pretty much every FE- the Cain and Abel, the Est, etc.

Not that I like Nowi's design or anything, I just find that Bright's being a little overly dismissive to modern FE.

The two I finished were Birthright about a month ago and Awakening back in 2018, being the game that I experienced most of and replayed the most, hence why it is my favorite Fire Emblem, not just because I love it but also because I feel it's the only game I can justify saying it's my favorite.

I'm definitely planning to play more later on but right now I'd rather just get through what I already own and have tried than overwhelm myself.

I don't know a lot about the games before Awakening (Aside from the ones I mentioned but even those I don't know everything about) But I know casual mode was only introduced in New Mystery which scares me since I like to keep my units alive and max them out to their fullest potential.

But hey, I'm sure I'll manage...eventually.

Medeus in the original game had 32 defense. Considering all stats are capped at 20, this makes him ignore all damage that's not from a Devil weapon or any of the Regelia. Tiki can't do anything to him either. The Divinestone only has 12 might.

Falchion is the only weapon that dealt effective damage against him.

Yeah, but this game is harder in general and in fe1 like half the cast couldn’t promote, but here Marth is one of the few characters who doesn’t get a promotion.

Hey, it’s one of my favorite FEs now too.

And I only know that because I stare at this page every chapter. Which made me curious to look up the garden requirements for 24x.

Also the fact that they added the weapon triangle into a game were basically every enemy uses lances.

13 Sentinels and Sakura Wars really showing that the best VNs are the ones that actually have gameplay.

....I'm in no way comparing the two games outside of that, Sakura Wars narrative cannot even match 13 Sentinels. I'm just saying that the only way you'll get me to read a VN is if there's actual gameplay to be had. Even something mindless, just give me something to do besides read.

Yes! This is the correct opinion.

How much you wanna use it is up to you but, especially as you get older and don't have as much free time, i just don't get why some people get really opposed to the inclusion of battle saves and whatnot.

RPG fans hate timesaving mechanics, hey wait, i've talked about this.

It's just annoying how modern FE just get dumbed down to ''Fanservice bad'' when they have alot of stuff to offer aside from skin. Especially when then the ''old days'' are spoken about like they had no fanservice even though they are full of it themselves.

Saying "game bad because fanservice" is like the easiest way to immediately invalidate your opinion, right alongside "it's a good x but a bad y". You can take issue with the fanservice of course but it really shouldn't be your main critique, especially if you're arguing for the supposed negative overall quality of whatever it is your talking about.

I do feel it's gotten worse, but I agree that it blinds people something fierce. Myself included, of course. It was the reason I didn't try Conquest for so long.

You yourself became the biggest Fates Fan in the thread after trying it due to how much it has to offer.

To be fair, I'm a weird example. People say Fates bad because story, but it didn't take long for me to start considering the story an upside.

Everyone starts somewhere. I've played the whole series now (well, except 1 and 2, but those hardly count), but I spent a good few years with only the GBA three and New Mystery. Yes, New Mystery specifically, without Shadow Dragon. This was before the full content patch was a thing, and I liked the prologue and Frey so much that I didn't want to play the higher difficulties. But I got bored quickly in normal mode, soooo I skipped straight to New Mystery. I only made it to chapter 5, so I don't count that attempt.

If I recall correctly, my order of playing FEs (including KagaSaga) is: Blazing Sword -> Binding Blade -> Sacred Stones -> New Mystery -> TearRing Saga -> Shadow Dragon -> Thracia 776 -> Berwick Saga -> Three Houses -> Echoes -> Path of Radiance -> Old Mystery -> Radiant Dawn -> Vestaria Saga -> Fates: Conquest -> Genealogy -> Awakening -> Fates: Birthright -> Fates: Revelation.

By the way, I've brought up KagaSaga (and you've probably seen it mentioned in the thread before), but I realize I don't know if you know what that is. In case you don't, they're a series of FE-like games that Shouzou Kaga, the original director of the series from 1 to 5, made after leaving Intelligent Systems. Berwick Saga in particular I consider one of my favorite games of all time, it's really amazing.

Now consider that two of the main characters of Fates are blatant foot fetish bait

Pretty sure the full content patch doesn't automatically unlock 24x, actually. 24x is a sort of "last resort" map to give you a reliable way to harm Medeus if you lost all the other regular means to do so. The character you get in the final chapter if you go to 24x is also mutually exclusive with a different character you can get there. So that one was left as is.

Marth's a thief. That's it. He exists to render Julian and Rickard redundant.

But doors, Ruben! Doors! And the one map in the entire game with a bridge to “unlock” even though it’s very obviously impassable because it’s broken and that makes absolutely no sense.

I actually have been using Julian a lot because of doors, they’re fairly common and the game isn’t that generous with door keys, I don’t think.

Hmmmm I have an existential crisis. Do I marry Selena off to Niles for speedy Nina with cool hair, or do I make him marry Nyx for magical Nina memes with a dash of questionable ethics?  Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

Without warp, you have to consider that even if it's not displayed (I can't remember if it is), the fake Gharnefs can be hurt. You use the geosphere to point out the right one, and avoid him. If he's way out of the way at the bottom of the map, good. If he's right in front of the throne, too bad.

To be fair, in SD there is some use for Julian, yeah.

In New Mystery, though... That one gives you enough keys that you can get away with never deploying either of the thieves.
