Nintendo Crossovers You Would Like to See

Well yeah, they're both grid-based strategy RPGs, so of course there's some innate compatibility. Question is, which unique mechanics from each series could you combine together to create an interesting whole? What new mechanics could you introduce that taps into the unique premise of the crossover? How would the job system work? And would the perspective be top-down, isometric, or just 3D with a movable camera?

the battle systemย could be either based on player/enemy phase like FE, or by turns depending on each player/enemy unit's speed(the highest moves first and so on) like in FFT.

there's really not much of a mid way there, so it would have to be one of those two.

FFT and its respective spinoffs have always kept the same gameplay formula, so at this point it would be all about picking what worked well in the other games from the FE franchise.

support dialogues, the ability to rescue/travel with other units and trading items between units should be basic stuff. dual attack/guard from Fates could eventually make a comeback as well, same goes for personal skills.

the ideas could be many. an example would be class skills from FE not being based on stats anymore, but rather on the classic MP system from FFT.

or having new kinds of specialized units that can actually be used in water tiles such as rivers, lakes, sea.

i've never seen anything like that in any FE game(exception made for pirates/berserkers, but even that was quite a "crippled" way of traveling/fighting onย water), and the only franchise to my knowledge that actually did something about itย before was Advanced Wars with its military naval combat.

the Job system from FFT could be merged with FE's branched promotions tree.

like having basic trainee classes for fighters and mages divided into tanks/warriors/thiefs and healers/wizards/scholars unit types.

then branched promotions for each basic type.ย then one more step of branched "ultimate" promotions.

that way, considering the huge amount of classes from both franchises, most classes should getย already included.

3D with movable camera would probably be the best solution.

FFT had an hybrid isometric viewย and it worked really well, but with a free 3D camera view everyone can play with whatever view they prefer.

or they could just add a function to change between modes such as isometric, top-down, etc in the options.

Can't believe I didn't suggest this one earlier: The Legend of Zelda ร— Shantae

A Zelda/Shantae crossover would be a great opportunity to explore 2D Zelda again. It could be fun to see the Shantae series' wacky sense of humor applied to Hyrule, not to mention see Hyrule citizens and creatures illustrated by WayForward (I can already picture the Gerudo being tall yet cute, as though they just sashayed in from Sequin Land). The character interaction potential is golden, too; Sky would adore the Rito (she might even find a prospective boyfriend among them), Mimic would find the Sheikah's ancient technology fascinating, and just imagine Bolo meeting the Gerudo.

And of course Link and Shantae themselves could be a fun duo to play as. Shantae could get transformation dances for Hyrulean creatures such as Fairy, Zora, and Rito. She could even get a Horse dance that turns her into a handy mount for Link, and later upgrade it to a Pegasus dance that allows her and Link to fly around. It would also be cool if Link could ride Elephant Shantae, or maybe hop on her back to use as a platform. Perhaps Link and Shantae have the ability to carry each other around depending on their form? Link can carry Shantae in her Half-Genie, Zora, or Rito forms, useful for, say, using the Pegasus Boots to dash around with Shantae in tow. She can also ride around on his shoulders as Monkey Shantae. As a Horse or Elephant, she carries Link instead. As a Rito, she can lift Link into the air.

Here's three.

Metroid x Halo

I think combining the massive open maps and vehicle play with the aesthetic of Metroidย would be sweet. That and the fact that the tight corridors and boss battles would contrast with the open feel of Halo in a very nice way.ย

Metroid x Doom

This speaks for itself. Most games with a awesome protagonist would go great with Doom. Just imagine running through and ripping Metroids off of people's heads, tearing through space pirates, and unlocking new attachments for your arm cannon.ย

Fire Emblem x The Elder Scrolls

Not just the elder scrolls, but more just a FE WRPG. A massive continent to explore, weapons following the mechanics of the weapon triangle in real time combat, a party of companions that you can lead around with support mechanics being worked in via ambient conversation. The ability to chose from multiple different races, Manakete, Laguz, Crest Barers, or plenty others. I can only dream of what would probably be my ideal open world RPG.

Fire Emblem x Final Fantasy Tactics.

that's all i can think about that could eventually work really well, considering the sinergy that these games could have in terms of gameplay mechanics.

Wow; though it's not really a crossover, you pretty much predicted Project Triangle Strategy.

I know this sounds weird, but hear me out.

Dillon's Rolling Western x Persona

Spoiler

The idea behind it is that Persillon (working title)ย would beย a time-management game like Persona, with Dillon as an obvious silent protagonist. During off time Dillon would hang in a central town where he interacts with other people and develop Social Links that increase his physical abilities and tower abilities (i.e. maybe socializingย with a nerd increases rate of fire on towers).

ย

While Personas wouldn't be actually in the game, Dillon still acts as the Wildcard because he's the only party member of the rolling style of attack, and has multiple kid-friendly, old western weapons (like a Lasso). Other party members would be Russ (obvious Navigator) and other original characters new to this game.

ย

The gameplay style is that the party somehow knows when the grocks will come and have a week to prepare, buying materials and equipment and a week before the 3 day tower defense is required. There is also a spoopy cave near town with near infinite grocks to grind. There are only 3 other party members during a grock invasion, while the others are "supporting the citizens inside the tower." The party members would either go off separately and defeat grocks alone (being slow while doing so) or group up with you and deal with a group of enemies fast but other areas undefended, or mixed (maybe you control Dillon solo while leaving another AI to themselves and pair up 2 AI together, who knows). There would be way more waves of enemies and hordes to go through since there are 4 people defending now.

ย

As to the story of why Dillon is now a Wildcard and has Social Links, you'll just have to play the game to find out yourself... ok, no I just don't have any ideas about it to be honest.

Obviously this would never happen, and my ideas may be underdeveloped. I just wish there were more tower-defense games where you are an actual character and not just an overlord spending money from the heavens. Plus, I love the Persona games for their mixture of real world life sim to crazy monster beating time. So I wanted to mix these series because I said so.
