Peter The Cool
I can't remember why I was messing around with the rom to began with, but I could not find any tutorials on this back in the day, so I created this on back in '20 during the lockdown. I have rewrote this to make it a bit more clear. This could be used to create a translation that picks the best of both worlds, if you perhaps like a older translation of some text. Or maybe a Fan Game? You first need to pick what rom, and patch you are using. While theoretically you could opt for different translations or use the Japanese text directly, I've based this tutorial on an the translation by Quirino. I never did find how a way to change the number of character displayed, but I am sure there is a way if you look into it. I think you need to re-point the text. I never tried but here is this page for more. https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/ROM_Hacking_Resources#Text_dumping_and_insertion_tools If you do, let me know or post below. To be clear, that means that flowing this you can change Marth to Warth, but you would be unable to change his name to CoolMarth Here is a list of things that you need to start. 1. A Rom 2. A English Patch 3. A emulator like Fceuz 4. A hex editer that can read .tbl files. 5. TBLater 6. tilemolester-0.16 If that does not work then usehttps://www.romhacking.net/utilities/515/ You need Java for both. 7. You can skip the last two if you get this .tbl file, but It will only work for the Quirino translation, I believe. FireEmblem.tbl Now Here are the steps: 1. Patch Rom. 2. Create a .tbl file or use my 3. In Fceux go to the main main of the game 4. Open the debug ppu viewer. See how "a" starts at 45? Remember that. 5. Now Open Tblater and go down to 45 6. Enter the alphabet and numbers as you see them. 7. You now Have your own .tbl file! Good luck. 8. Open the .tbl file in the Hex editer. But what if you want to change the fount? Well Here is how 1. Open Tile molester 2. Open Rom 3. Look for text 4. Now edit. As you can see I changed the a to a new a. You can change the font to a new font from anther nes game if you would like.
