THE QUEST FOR PANTS BEGINS

btw i only care this much about actually going fast so expect some dumb turncounts later probably

Chapter 1 (7/7): just kinda ran forward after Marth got the million moneys. i had Caeda kill the boss because there is no god and no consequences for my actions. Cain killed the Thief and a bunch of dudes that ran up to him. Gordin bought JAVELINS

Chapter 2 (5/12): yeah. Marth had to lag behind at the start to recruit the CLASSIC CHARACTER DARROS. Cain kinda helped him not die. Otherwise just ran forward. Caeda killed the boss again. Marth got the MONEY

why the FUCK is the Hammer the lightest axe. kaga plz.

Chapter 3 (5/17): Marth ran forward. didn't bother with the Devil Axe since it only has 9 uses so it's not even worth it to meme with Darros. Lena got stabbed a couple times for EXP, it's fine, don't worry about it.

Chapter 4 (8/25): Made a pit-stop for Merric cuz I kinda want Wendell's Barrier staff. Idk if it'll actually be useful. Lena got stabbed some more and got a WEAPON LEVEL. matthis was recruited and will be lucky if he doesn't die by the end of this. oh yeah and Darros got SPEED

Chapter 2: 5/12 Turns

Yeah. Dudes went forward. Recruited Darros, who became sail and killed a half-dead cavalier that Jeigan chipped. Boss was fed to Caeda.

Chapter 3: 6/18 Turns

Tried to do it in 5 turns but my units don't have enough move to get over to the left and clear out all of the dudes in Marth's way, Especially since Caeda has to be over on the right side to recruit Navarre. Jeigan killed the boss.

Chapter 4: 7/25 Turns

Had to take an extra turn because Marth was the only one who could kill the boss reliably. Caeda did a whopping 3 x 2 damage and Jeigan was at such low HP he would die on the counter-attack. Marth got like 3 levels here by murdering all of the cavaliers. All of the non-healers are at level 5 except for Caeda who is at 4.90.

Chapter 5: 4/29 Turns

Marth and the mounted units rushed to the throne while Gordon and Navarre self-improved by murdering Wendell's group. Gordon's speed procs let him double and ORKO Steel Bow Archers with his own Steel Bow. Caeda could ORKO cavaliers with the Silver Lance and pretend that the Wing Spear is a thing. Hardin and Caeda teamed up to kill the boss after Hardin got traded the Silver Sword. Navarre killed Wendell with a Killing Edge crit for the exp and Barrier, although Lena can't actually use it yet so uh...

Chapter 6: 6/35 Turns

Marth, Jeigan, and Hardin went to the throne room. Darros, Caeda, and Navarre took turns choking the point in the middle of the map while Gordon killed an archer in the throne room from across the wall so that Jeigan could tank the Mage and Archer when he got there. Caeda killed a bunch of thieves (Sedgar helped too I guess?) and Julian got the chests and traded stuff to people. Jeigan killed the cleric and Hardin 4HKOed the boss with the Armorslayer.

Chapter 7: 6/41 Turns

Marth/Hardin/Navarre go down to the boss while everyone else kills stuff for exp. Fed the Dracoknight to GORDON cause he could ORKO it with the Steel Bow somehow. Boss was 4HKOed with Hardin and Navarre. Navarre was given the boss kill so he could get the Silver Sword drop. Lena tanked an archer to get her weapon level proc. Actually routed the map except for Minerva.

Chapter 8: 5/46 Turns

Marth/Hardin/Navarre go to the boss again while the amazing Darros and Jeigan form a wall to keep Marth from getting killed by cavaliers. Julian and Lena tanked a Horseman to keep him out of the way until Marth and the armorslayer brigade were out of range. Level-ups on this map were stupidly good. Like, it was kind of insane how good the level-ups were. Praise Kaga.

Chapter 9: 5/51 Turns

Darros and Caeda baited the hand axe guys over the water so Gordon could get some exp from killing them. Jeigan had an intense duel with the Devil Axe dude. Hardin and Navarre again killed the boss, but with Silver Swords this time! Such variety!

Chapter 10: 14/65 Turns

Well Marth full-moved every turn except the turn he talked to Maria so I don't see this going any faster without warp. Made it pretty relaxed at least. Managed to get all of the squishy people inside the castle before the Dracoknights got in range of my units. Navarre chipped them and fed most of the fliers to Gordon. Silver Bow Sniper would have been scary if he would have attacked anyone besides Marth. The Hero was actually pathetic, doing a whole 4 x 2 damage to base defense Jeigan, who could actually 2HKO him back with the Silver Lance. I fed the Hero to Caeda though. After the Dracoknights were dead Navarre went on a massive trek to the closest Convoy to get the Hero Crest and promote. Boss kill was kind of just me messing around since I had so many turns to attack him while waiting for Marth to show up. Had Jeigan poke him with a Silver Lance a few times for exp, then chipped him with DARROS so that Hardin could kill him while only using 1 Armorslayer use to conserve it a bit. Had Minerva get the Speed Ring out of the convoy but she didn't have any time to use it this map.

Chapter 11: 13/78 Turns

Minerva used the Speed Ring and killed stuff up north. Caeda went right and chipped all of the mercenaries with an Iron Sword so that Marth could kill them all when he got there for some exp. Had Linde and Gordon use the arena for some exp. Did trading shenanigans to give Marth the Power Ring.

Chapter 12: 9/87 Turns

Took 3 extra turns to get the Knight Crest and Boots. Had to do some very convoluted trading shenanigans to get the Orion's Bolt to Gordon so he could promote before the end of the chapter. Managed to get the Knight Crest out of the convoy with Hardin on the last turn, but since it was the last turn he'll have to wait until the next map to promote. Macellan and Midia got to lived while all the other scrubs died.

Chapter 13: 4/91 Turns

Couldn't get the 3 turn because A) The Boots were in the convoy on Turn 1, and B) Marth's inventory was full from getting Parthia last map so he needed to spend his player phase action on Turn 1 trading it to Gordon. Anyway, all of the mounted dudes (including the freshly promoted Hardin) went ahead and murdered everything with Levin Swords. Sedgar and Darros teamed up to kill a thief. Navarre killed the stuff up top for exp since his deployment slot put him too far away to contribute to the middle section.

Chapter 14: 6/97 Turns

5 Turns looks possible by counting tiles, but you need a 10 move mounted unit who can ORKO the boss in a convenient deployment slot to reach the boss on Turn 5 with anyone besides Marth. All my mounted units spawned in the very back of the formation so I just took an extra turn and had Marth kill the boss. This also let me get the Silver Card. Linde got fed a bunch of thwomps and Gordon killed all of the archers to gain weapon level so he can use Parthia. Bought a bunch of door keys.

Chapter 15: 4/101 Turns

Boots Marth go brrr. Had a sick Macellan contribution of chipping a mage on Turn 1 to feed to Linde. Truly inspiring.

Chapter 16: 3/104 Turns

This can totally be done in 2 turns, but I decided to take an extra turn to get Marth a bunch of exp by murdering everything on the center island. This also made killing the boss to get the Dracoshield more reliable. Marth can finally use Silver Swords now so WORTH IT.

EDIT: SRC has informed me that Marth is 1 tile short of seizing on Turn 2 because river tiles cost 5 move to cross. Sad.

Chapter 17: 2/106 Turns

Boots are still hilarious. Skipped the Member Card because the extra stat boosters are massive overkill and nobody spawned close enough to kill the priests on Turn 1 before they moved out of range anyway. Boss kill sucked cause the stupid trading system meant nobody had the Wyrmslayer, so I was just barely able to kill the boss with Silver Sword!Hardin, Silver Lance!Minerva, and PARTHIA GORDIN.

Chapter 18: 5/111 Turns

Marth goes down and murders everything. Minerva and Caeda fly over the rivers to kill the boss. Everyone else self-improves. Jeigan used the second speed ring since he and Sedgar are the only ones who really need it and Jeigan is obviously way more useful than Sedgar.

Chapter 19: 5/116 Turns

Had to take an extra turn to get the Starsphere. Julian was too busy getting Linde's and Caeda's promotion items so Marth had to get the Starsphere himself, which honestly is fine since he needs it in his inventory anyway. Marth can exactly reach the throne by full moving twice after getting the Starsphere chest. Minerva killed the Lightsphere guy. Hardin and Jeigan killed Tiki. Linde promoted on Turn 3 after reaching level 10 on Turn 1.

Chapter 20: 4/120 Turns

Marth walked over the river and capped level by murdering everything. Caeda and Minerva followed Marth to kill Camus. Everyone else killed Paladins for exp. Boss kill kind of sucked. Needed 1 crit from Caeda or Minerva in 4 attacks (Caeda is more likely to crit cause she has capped skill). This would have been super reliable if I had given Minerva the power ring instead of Marth, which would have gotten an exact kill on Camus with 2 Silver Swords from Minerva and 2 Levin Swords from Caeda, but oh well. Marth needs the strength for Medeus anyway.

Chapter 1 5/5

Jagen clears the way for Caeda and Marth, who pick up a few kills. Jagen one-rounds Gazek with the silver lance because he's a professional.

Chapter 2 5/10

Jagen mauls the left side of the map with an iron lance of all weapons. Barst annihilates solos the right side. Everyone else gets scraps.

Chapter 3 6/16

I couldn't get the 5 turn without rigging or resetting so I took the L here. Marth, Darros, and Jagen handled the left. Caeda recruited Navarre then came into leech the boss kill. Navarre and Barst cleaned up the rest of the right side.

Chapter 4 6/22

Pretty straightforward one. Barst is stuck with the right side since his starting position is poop. Everyone else takes the left. Only real problem is the boss, who needs some hit rigging (which I am not morally opposed to with turn rewind being canon) to go down in 2 rounds.

Chapter 5 4/26
Marth handles the enemies on the right with his op baiting skills. Everyone else takes left, with some help with Navarre's armorslayer and some clutch meatwalling from the undrafted Wolfguard members (rip Vyland).

Chapter 6 6/32
Mounts clear the path for Marth and gang up on the boss. Others assist Roshea at the top to help him suck a little less.

Chapter 7 6/38
Darros with the clutch rigged hammer hit to finish off the boss. (Boss's 2 AS is too OP) He's now level 8. I regret everything.

Chapter 8 5/43
Jagen and Hardin quickly cuts off the entire top left, so we just have to focus on thearchers and armors. Caeda recruits Roger to get him out of the way, then the rest of the dudes are split pretty evenly. (Barst and Darros have one of the last clutch hammer moments here.) Hardin slays the boss so Marth can make a timely seize.

Chapter 9 4/47
Marth uses the OP turn 1 door key. This is a pretty short map so, the mounts have to get their asses in gear to get to the boss. Roshea nearly dies in the process as he takes a hit from the devil axe goon, but aside from that, this is mostly smooth sailing until the boss. He's bulky AF, but silver hits from Jagen, Hardin, and Roshea are enough to get it done.

Darros uses his jesus skills to distract an enemy pirate, marking one of his final contributions to the team.

Chapter 10 14/61

WOOHOO, LET'S GO SHITSHOW. I determined I couldn't get Marth through the slightly quicker (and much more difficult) top route, so I opted to go the scenic route. Caeda, Jagen, and Darros (his last relevant appearance rip) cover the perimeter, while Hardin, Roshea, and Navarre clear the way for Marth to rescue Maria. That's leaves me with some pretty strong fliers on my tail, so I leave Barst behind to solo them with some help with Rena. Boss is ganged up on silver lances by the horsies before being finished off by Minerva's Levin Sword so she can claim her rightful speedring.

Chapter 11 13/74
This is a really easy map, but there's a massive detour to get Marth over to Linde so it takes close to a century. We have some more chonky guys near the castle, but nothing that horsies with silver and an OP dragon knight can't handle. Marth gets the power ring to help with Medeus slaying later on.

Chapter 12 9/83
My main two goals for this map are to get Linde's level ups going and to get THE BOOTS. Since this is a 9 turner, Linde gets plenty of action in the top left
with some assistance from Jagen. The throne room is a little crowded, but Marth, Navarre, and Minerva are able to get through it in a timely enough manner so Minerva can escort a thief to THE BOOTS room (the real throne room, tbh). The armory in the BOOTS ROOM is really great, but unfortunately I can only get one unit there in time to pick up a couple silver swords.

Hardin, Roshea, and Caeda didn't end up being needed, so the first two killed stragglers for exp while the latter rode the bench.

Barst and Darros retire and are never heard from again.

Chapter 13 3/86
Marth uses the boots and sprints to the castle. Hardin and Levin sword!Minerva are just BARELY able to get to the boss and 2 round him. Meanwhile, Midia recuits Assram to complete the prepromote power couple and Thomas uses the manual so he can equip Partia super early.

Chapter 14 5/91
More Marth sprinting. This is a pretty easy one, so I focus on feeding kills to Linde and Thomas. Roshea buys a door key to clear away the fiercest enemy of the chapter: the DOOR. Levin swords and silver take care of the boss again.

Chapter 15 4/95
A desert map with dragon knights? It's all hands on deck. Marth just sprints and Minerva one rounds the boss, but that's the easy part.

The enemy wizard is obnoxious thanks to his pope-like speed, but Silver Sword!Caeda and a silver hit from Roshea (now a Paladin!) get the job done. All of the other units take down as many dragon knights as possible so they stop harassing Marth. (Aside from Thomas, who promotes to Sniper thanks to some exp from straggler mages at the bottom!)

Chapter 16 3/98
Marth crosses the river and manages to not die. Navarre and the fliers take out the wannabe boss for the cheese seize, though tbh I kind of wish Marth had the draco shield for later chapters.

Chapter 17 3/101
This is absurdly chonky, and unfortunate he's immune to magic as well. It takes two rounds of Minerva-ing to take him down, which forces a third turn.

Chapter 18 5/106
Minerva baits the forces in the middle to help clear the way for Marth. Then, I need a killer sword crit from Roshea to get an annoying enemy paladin out of the way. After that, it's smooth sailing as Marth sprints the castle as the paladins pick up any stragglers that don't suicide on him. (Mostly the horsemen and javelineers) The fliers (read: mostly Minerva) make quick work of the boss before Est even exists.

Chapter 19 6/112
This map is honestly kind of annoying, so I had Marth take the top center chest even though it cost a few extra turns. Worth it to have this one over with.

Caeda promotes, resulting in a massive strongth boost of 5 str and def.

Chapter 20 4/116
A Marth suicide mission. The mounts all get their rears in gear so these promoted dudes don't completely wreck Marth, who destroys them on the counterswing but can't take many silver hits. Navarre, Linde, Astram, and Thomas aren't too relevant on the top side, but they do take help with the generals/shooter and prevent the paladins from massacreing my healers (Unarmed Dolph gets in some meatwall work as well, and somehow lives.)

Camus is super tough, but my fliers have a ton of speed and are able to double
him with levin swords. With a rigged crit factored in, 21+7+7+7 = dead Camus.

One of the silver lance paladins actually gets to Maria still, but she dodges
one hit and facetanks the other with 1 HP to spare. Clutch!

Chapter 21 3/119
This map is hell, mostly because of the massive amount of enemy pressure on Marth when going for a quick seize. On turn 1, he enemy phases one paladin to take off some pressure, then I have to camp him on a forest next turn and hope he draws some misses. (Hence, I wish I had the dragon shield here to cut down on the resets.) Minerva and Caeda are insanely useful here, helping clear Marth's path and also teaming up for another boss kill. (Gradius on Minerva makes this very, very easy.)

Chapter 22 7/126
This is another "make sure Marth doesn't get massacred" map. The main challenge is keeping Marth out of the range of too many enemies at once while also ensuring my
fliers don't get murdered by the silver bow horsemen. I find a formation where both happen, Marth gets starlight, the fliers take out the boss(es), and the infantry
take out the scraps. Michelis isn't normally difficult at all, but Minerva with gladivus makes him more of a joke than usual.

I trap a horseman to set up a kill for Linde. She's finally level 10!!!

Chapter 23 7/133
Linde promotes, uses the speedring, and gets passed starlight to prepare for a Gharnef kill. Pure Water!Marth and the ol' mounts sprint to the top, where Marth and Hardin bait Gharnef to set up a kill for Linde. Thanks to her 6 move, this delays the seize for a turn.

Thomas uses his Partia to gain 7 res and harass the mages/wizards at the bottom. Him and Navarre get some extra experience this way, which is pretty funny but inconsequential.

Chapter 24 4/137
Minerva murders the boss with a wyrmslayer (gotta save those Gradivus uses!). After that, this is mostly a mission of Marth not dying. The snipers and wizards are an issue, so Marth uses a pure water and Minerva takes one of the snipers out.

Chapter 25 5/142
Another fearsome enemy door is vanquished by Roshea. I'm able to get all of my good mounts (besides Caeda, oof) at the bottom starting slots, which makes getting to the throne
room not a huge deal. The top left features Caeda, Linde, Maria, and Thomas, so I try to get Caeda out to the action as fast as possible (which proves to not matter), which ends in a noble (and pointless) sacrifice of Linde. (Thomas and Maria hilariously barely survive thanks to some clutch Partia-ing of leftover enemies.) It's probably
best not to mention the top right room.

The throne room is actually an issue thanks to the enemy snipers and manakete mini-boss. It doesn't help that I forgot to use the earth orb for this one. Minerva needs two turns to take down the extremely thicc manakete guarding Medeus, so Marth and Roshea need to bait the snipers so they don't completely and utterly nuke her. Thanks to the power ring, Marth one rounds Medeus on my first try with a hit plus crit. Rigged!

OVERALL: This is my best FE1 count by far after 3 attempts, due to a combination of ridiculously OP CLASSIC CHARACTERS and liberal use of turn rewind. (Though, I did refuse to use bookmarks to keep myself from indulging in TOO much rigging.)

I'm kind of a sucker for dated video games, so I liked FE1 already. The double speed feature and translation really didn't feel like an improvement over playing the game on a rom, but I admit the turn rewind feature was immensely helpful in a game with single RN hit rates and no crit evasion. It was also great for going back to the last chapter if I forgot to buy a door key or something. Really handy feature overall and was worth the whopping $6 purchase price for that alone.

Chapter 21: 3/123 Turns

Marth goes on a tree and tanks everything on Turn 2, although I cleared out as much as I could on Turn 2 player phase to make it more reliable. Marth had used the Dracoshield so javelin dudes only did 2 damage, and a Barrier boost from Lena meant that only the Silver Lance guys were any significant threat. Killed the boss with Levin Sword!Caeda + Silver Sword!Minerva again. Didn't even need crits to kill the boss this time!

Chapter 22: 7/130 Turns

It's kind of a mess on Turn 3, but the mounted dudes + Gordon managed to kill most of the threatening enemy fliers. The chad Sedgar managed to break the laws of the universe and baited a Silver Lance!Dracoknight away from Marth and lived with 1 HP. Caeda and Minerva killed Michalis and Generic Enemy Castle Guardian with Levins and Wyrmslayers. Managed to tradechain Starlight over to Linde on the last turn so I don't have to deal with trading it during the next map.

Chapter 23: 7/137 Turns

Even with Linde in basically the closest deployment slot to Gharnef it still takes an extra turn for her to reach him. And even then it still requires a crit to ORKO him. Besides that, had Hardin get the Fortify Staff so that both Lena and Gotoh can spam Fortify in Endgame. Julian got the treasure which probably won't matter.

Chapter 24: 4/141 Turns

Marth walks over the mountain with Navarre and Gordon while Minerva slowly kills the boss with the Wyrmslayer and caps level. Everyone else gets traded door keys.

Chapter 25: 5/146 Turns

Movement for 4 turns is possible, but ORKOing the fatass in front of Medeus is impossible without like, double Gradivus crits or some bullshit like that. Anyway, Jeigan opens the door and Marth and Minerva rush to the throne room. Minerva kills one of the throne room Snipers while Gordon kills the other one. Jeigan and Caeda go over to save Sedgar and Linde from getting murdered. Navarre and Hardin protect Lena and Julian in the top left. Top right has all of my scrub units, but thanks to the power of LORENZ, they all got to live because Lorenz has enough HP to survive being doubled by the Swarm Bishop and the Levin Sword Dracoknight has a huge brain and prefers to attack Wrys instead of killing Lorenz. Double Fortify from Lena and Gotoh plus a Mend from Wrys ensure everyone stays alive. Marth eventually gets to kill Medeus on Turn 5. Yay.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok I finally have time for this yay.

Chapter 1: 6/6. Marth and Jagen charge through the middle, Caeda kills stragglers around her while everyone tries to give up their items. 1 space off seizing on turn 5 though 😩

Chapter 2: 5/11. Darros recruited turn 1, Jagen charges to the boss t3 (with Castor recruited shortly after) and feeds the boss kill to Ogma t4. Marth gains a shitload of XP.

Chapter 3: 5/16. Marth, Jagen, Ogma and Castor beeline to the left, Caeda goes to the right to recruit Navarre. The scrub Axemen don't do much of use. Needed a crit from either Jagen or Ogma on Hyman (otherwise he'd be left on 1 HP).

Chapter 4: 6/22. Navarre kills most of the dudes on the right, everyone else goes left. Darros/Bord help kill a few stragglers in the centre. Boss again needed a crit.

Chapter 1: 5/5 turns

Marth beelined to the castle, Jagen went way ahead of everyone else and ultimately ended up killing the boss, and uh...Caeda and Draug helped! By killing enemies who obstructed Marth's pathway. Draug was actually real clutch for this NGL.

Chapter 2: 5/10 turns

Marth did Marth things, getting a few more kills than last time. Jagen and Caeda made a beeline for the castle while Draug stayed behind and CHOKED SOME POINTS. Classic Character Darros killed some enemies in the way and also didn't get doubled which was real nice.

Chapter 3: 5/15 turns

This...chapter was scuffed, to say the least; probably because Caeda had to be fucking around on the other side of the map. Jagen traded his Silver Lance to Ogma Turn 1 so that Caeda can make use of it in the next map. Jagen had to hit the two Fighters coming from the left with two Javelin hits, with not the best hitrates. There was more leeway with the Hunters and he could have probably afforded to miss both. Then because Jagn decided to be a crit god and crit the Steel Axe Fighter, said Fighter dropped his Vulnerary and Jagen didn't have enough inventory to hold the Killing Edge (my previous boss killing strat). Despite reaching the boss area a full turn earlier than he usually does, Jagen missed so much that I needed him to dodge a hit (because the boss never missed before up until that point even though he had worse hit rates than Jagen!), hit twice in retaliation (with an Iron Sword, so shouldn't have been THAT bad), and then uh...Darros needed to finish the boss off. Oof. Also I got some super rigged levels this chapter despite my best efforts. Draug didn't get to do anything. 😞

Chapter 4: 6/21 turns

This chapter was simpler than the last one. Most of my units went left, save for Draug who drew the attention of all of the right enemies (and the middle Hunter as well). Marth drew in most of the aggro (including Matthis), while Jagen went ahead and took ahead of the archers. Luckily Lena existed to heal both Marth and Jagen as needed. The bosskill was kinda unreliable, since I only got 1 Javelin hit and 2 Killing Edge hits from Jagen as well as 2 Silver Lance "hits" from Caeda (the so called hit rates being real bad). Everyone chipped! Except Darros.

Navarre Mercenary	04.36	20 06 09 09 11 04 07 07 00

Chapter 5: 4/25 turns

I might have rigged levels again! Not intentionally but uh...Anyways, Marth soloed most of the right enemies (Draug helped a little), and recruited Wendell on Turn 2 Enemy Phase. Everyone else went to assist Hardin's group, and Marth got warped in on Turn 3 to help them as well. Navarre (with Armorslayer), Jagen, and Hardin took care of the boss and it was still super unreliable because fuck gates.

Chapter 6: 6/31 turns

Pretty straightforward chapter this time around. Notable moments include Jeigan killing both of the upper Cavaliers, having to Warp Wendell in because I planned movement poorly (or he didn't have enough, didn't check), having to get a Killing Edge crit with Jeigan PURELY because of bad movement, and Marth failing to ORKO Knights with the Rapier (which broke).

Chapter 7: 6/37 turns

Another straightforward one. All of my guys go in the same direction (what side objectives), with Marth reaching one space in front of the boss in time to chip him with Wendell so Navarre can get the kill. Draug did nothing this map. 😞

Chapter 8: 5/42 turns

Marth drawing all of the aggro helped as he bumrushed this chapter just as long as he didn't draw too much aggro. His inability to ORKO things with effective weaponry is starting to get annoying. Everyone else helped clear the way (especially Jagen), and the Hardin/Navarre duo got the bosskill (at shitty hitrates, as always); good thing Navarre procced Strength midmap! I also made Radd my Rapier bot, Cain my Silver Lance bot, and Abel my...well, everything else bot!

Chapter 9: 4/46 turns

An otherwise simple chapter complicated by having to squeeze all of my units through a super tight corridor. I got carried by having given a Door Key to Marth in the previous chapter. I spent the whole chapter thinking that I would get the bosskill with a combination of Hardin and Wendell before uh Hardin critblicked the boss. Also set up some items for next chapter. Would be real nice if I could buy some more Door Keys!

Chapter 10: 13/59 turns

This chapter was a pain. The easy part was Hardin, Wolf, Draug, Rickard, Darros, and Lena going south and handily clearing the enemies at record pace before Wolf went shopping. The hard part was making sure Minerva didn't cockblock Marth on the top route. I'm pretty sure if my Caeda wasn't so rigged it would have been impossible, but she could take quite a few hits and Marth could uh...deal 4 damage twice. With a Silver Sword. Maybe it would have been possible if my Marth didn't fucking suck actually. Opening the door to Maria with Marth allowed her to recruit herself and then Minerva to recruit herself on the same turn. Pretty huge stuff! Oh, and I gave Hardin the Goddess Icon.

Chapter 11: 13/72 turns

Because of recruiting Linde, this chapter goes from mildly hectic to a smooth breeze. Highlights include getting Navarre to promotion on the mercenaries, killing the boss with Draug, and having Linde arena grind. Navarre gained +1Str +3Skl +1Def on promotion FWIW. The horseman/sniper/manakete combo was a lot tougher in the DS remake...Anyways, gave Minerva the Speed Ring and Marth the Energy Ring.

Chapter 12: 8/80 turns

I had to bench Draug, Darros, AND Caesar 😞. This chapter was an interesting one to play out, to say the least. Rickard made a beeline for the main chest, which left Marth on treasure chest duty (I ended up missing the Silver Sword and Master Key chests because Marth needed to burn a turn dropping items, thanks Parthia; that cost me one of my runs). Hardin went ahead to chip the Sniper with a Javelin (on enemy phase, mind, because he barely survived) before I finished him off with Navarre on the following turn (moving Hardin out of the way so that Marth could open the door). I had Jeigan kill the Curate with a Javelin while Caeda and Minerva teamed up on the boss. BTW, did I mention hit rates frequently suck in this game? They're like 70% and up usually which still frequently miss! If I rigged anywhere, it's definitely in actually hitting people. The boss kill didn't need that though, thanks to Levin Sword being treated as magic. Caeda, Minerva, and Hardin all accompanied Rickard to get the boots which was pretty easy. On the last turn, Caeda bought 2 Silver Swords which I hope is enough until the next Silver Sword chapter. Linde and Wolf took care of the mages and the guys assaulting the prisoners, and Wendell took care of the thieves at the start (with a SMALL bit of help from Wolf).

EDIT Forgot to insert stats but honestly they're not much different from those of the next chapters.

Chapter 13: 3/83 turns

Marth used the Boots turn 1 and I rushed towards the boss. Nothing much special happened other than needing to dodge 1 or 2 Stoneheists? Not in the same turn. Minerva, Jeigan, AND Hardin all teamed up on the boss (only two were necessary). Also Hardin only got 1 Move on promotion.

Chapter 14: 6/89 turns

Turns out Palla does cost 1 turn! It'll be totally worth it, though. I had to undeploy Draug (also Caesar, but that's significantly less sad) just so undrafted Cain could trade around some items and buy some stuff. Because I had a more lax turn count and could use Warp it turned out to be a breeze. Let me train units like Linde and Wolf too (who ate the Manual BTW). Now Wolf just needs one more weapon level...Also Darros killed some armors! He's useful!

Chapter 15: 4/93 turns

Not too hard, honestly. Marth had to uh...not get crit? Which did happen...which was rough. Draug also got crit by a Thunder mage, but at least he SURVIVED. Otherwise, he had a fairly time surviving thanks to Minerva, Caeda, and Palla mopping up the mages on the left side. Linde did more self improvement, Wolf got Weapon Level, and everyone else did a little something; not really much, but it was something!

Chapter 16: 3/96 turns

Marth and friends head towards the top river turn 1. Marth needs to dodge one of the three Dracoknights...or I could have just had someone blocking him off...Whoopsie! I am not a good Fire Emblem player. On the second turn, Marth and Navarre in particular head to the top corner next to the river (with Navarre handing Marth his Silver Sword, as it'll be easier to just hand Navarre those in the future), and tank a few more hits. On the third turn, Palla needs to crit the Horseman blocking Navarre (two hits with a Killing Edge at shockingly good hit rates for FE1, so not too bad), and Minerva needs to hit the boss twice with a Silver Lance (absolutely miserable, although if I was less stupid I could have given her Caeda's Silver Sword on Turn 2 for better hitrates), and then Caeda and Navarre use their Levin Swords to score the kill (not too shabby!). This will give me the much needed Dracoshield because uh...my Marth hasn't procced Defense yet! Not even once!

Chapter 17: 2/98 turns

I had to undeploy Jagen, Caeda, and Lena just to get optimal positioning for Hardin, Wolf, and Minerva. Wolf opened the door, Marth ate the Dracoshield turn 1, Caesar went to buy more Door Keys, and the Hardin/Minerva/Darros (yes, Darros) combo took care of the armor knights. Linde dealt with the Sniper over the course of two turns. On the next turn, I had Hardin and Wolf combine to kill the boss (Hardin being slightly below average on Strength and Wolf being slightly Strength blessed). I originally thought I'd need to rig a Strength level on Minerva so I could kill the boss but uh...I didn't? So I rigged for nothing, scuffed run SMH. She just killed the Bishop who cockblocks you if you step into his range turn 1.

Chapter 18: 5/103 turns

Fairly easy chapter. Due to how large it is, all of my unmounted non healers basically did nothing the whole map. Hell, undrafted Catria was more useful because she bought Silver and Levin Swords. Palla, Caeda, and Minerva went south to kill the brigade in the middle, and then Minerva went further south to do the boss kill. Marth went on a rampage this map, and got two whole defense levels to show for it; I know that doesn't seem like much, but that's two more defense levels than he's gotten for the rest of the game combined. Jagen, Hardin, and Wolf also contributed to an extent.

Chapter 19: 5/108 turns

I'm actually really proud of this one. I knew I couldn't do the 4 turn because there was no way anyone could reach the top chest and seize in that amount of time, so I went for this instead. Marth used the Speed Ring on Turn 1 and made a detour to get the Dragon Whip on Turn 2 (Hardin opened the door beforehand) while still having enough time to give it to Caeda on Turn 3 and seize by Turn 5. Rickard made a beeline for the top chest and got it by Turn 5 (with Palla opening the door on Turn 4). The Sniper around there was a problem, so Linde baited him on one turn and killed him the next (and promoted the turn after that!). Julian was deployed to get the Bishop Ring and through a trade chain of him -> Lena -> Navarre -> Linde, I was able to get it to her on a timely fashion; he even got the Pure Water on the last turn! Wolf was super clutch here because he killed the Hero cockblocking the Star Sphere Room in two turns (and didn't do enough damage for the healers to heal him). For the boss kill, I was planning on using the Wyrmslayer but then Caeda crit Tiki with the Levin Sword...nice? And Minerva got the Light Sphere on the last turn as well (she was busy protecting Wolf before then). Caeda promoted at 14.13 and got +3Str +4Def on promotion. Linde promoted at 10.26 with 26 HP 1Str 10Skl 14Wlv 15Spd 12Lck 5Def 6Mov and gained +2Str +3Def on promotion. Fun Fact: Did you know Bishops are 1Spd off of being able to double Gharnef with Starlight at base? Thinking about it, I didn't need to actually use Linde this much but eh it didn't cost any turns.

Chapter 20: 4/112 turns

Pretty scuffed chapter. The Paladin brigade on the left was annoying enough because Hardin's starting position blowed, so I had to have Caeda "wall" for a turn before Hardin could deal help deal with them in combination with the rest of my foot units. The top part was actually pretty easy, with Marth destroying enemies and never really being at risk of death TMK. The hard part...was Camus. I could have beaten him without a crit if Minerva had just one more point of Speed...but she didn't, so crit it is! What a bullshit boss honestly. I don't think Ridersbane even did effective damage on him. Also my units refused to proc Strength this map which was tilting. Also Darros killed a Paladin!

Chapter 21: 3/115 turns

Not that hard? My Marth barely survived Turn 2 Enemy Phase after dodging like 2 Silver Lances and 2 Javelins but at the same time he also did it first try babyyyyy. Otherwise it was just my units mopping up the enemies and uh me praying that Lena dodged a Javelin on a tree because she is OP her starting position fucking sucked. Also Darros got more kills and even a level! If he could promote, I would totally promote him right now. We all know that Caeda, Hardin, Minerva, and Linde are nuts but Jagen and Wolf really pulled their weight this map too. Also it feels good to deploy all of my units, even the deadweights who didn't do anything. They already put in their time.

Chapter 22: 7/122 turns

Pretty simple chapter, honestly. Marth just went to the village, handed off Starlight to Caeda (who handed it off to Linde, who was lagging behind real hard), and went to the throne. The enemies on this map felt significantly less threatening than the enemies on the last map, so my mounts all took care of them no sweat. Unfortunately all Minerva did was bait Michalis, who was killed by a combination of Hardin and Palla. Oh yeah, Palla gets to promote soon! That's hype. Undrafted Catria did some shopping (and minor meatshielding) as always.

Chapter 23: 7/129 turns

Kind of a pain in the ass towards the end? The beginning was simple, with everyone marching onwards to the boss area (except Julian, who I deployed instead of Rickard for positional reasons). I had to have a specific combination of Palla (newly promoted), Jagen (hasn't fallen off yet babyyyyy), Caeda (ORKOes Snipers with the Devil Sword, B-R-O-K-E-N), and Minerva take care of the chokepoint of enemies which definitely was the cause of a few resets. Then afterwards, I baited Gharnef with Marth and then with Caeda after Marth moved out of his range (if you hang to the left of the boss, Gharnef will not be in range to attack Marth). Gharnef's AI was kind of a pain too, because he always goes for the nearest enemy. Anyways, Linde had to crit to match SRC's turncount even with the best positioning so either he rigged too or he played this way better than me. Hardin had the shittiest positioning ever, so he took care of the enemies in the back.

Chapter 24: 4/133 turns

Easily my least favourite chapter in the game. Combined with how you ignore most of the map (to be fair, this is not the only occurence of that), you also have to contend with not deploying half of your best units because the final map is a huge pain in the ass and you need to rig spots for it; this meant Caeda and Palla were not deployed for this map despite the fact that they would have been really helpful. That is frustrating, to say the least. Anyways, the actual strategy is simple. Marth goes down the mountains (while getting traded the Falchion and chugging down a Dracoshield and a Talisman), Minerva secures a spot for him to pass through to the boss, Minerva kills said boss with Gradivus while Hardin Javelins a Fire Dragon that got in Marth's way, and cue the seizing.

Final Chapter: 4/137 turns

This chapter was Critblicked: The Map. I can't count how many of my units got OHKOed because haha fuck you, FE1's crit system is stupid as all fuck get out. Caesar, Draug, and Rickard holed up in the middle room and survived. Jagen choked the point of the top left room and got healed by Linde every turn, protecting suckers like Lena and Darros in the process. Caeda, Palla, Navarre, and Wendell were all in the right room and quickly moved down in order to assist the main team. Speaking of, Marth, Hardin, Minerva, Gotoh, and Wolf all marched towards the left. Minerva gave Hardin the Gradivus on Turn 1. Gotoh, Minerva, and Wolf retreated on Turn 3 to help the right group while Marth and Jagen pressed on ahead. Darros got another kill! Hardin ORKOed the Manakete in front of Medeus with a hit and a crit. Because my Marth was so Strength screwed (he should have 17-18Str with a Power Ring at Level 20), he needed a crit in order to kill Medeus in two rounds of combat (guess who crit first? Hint: It wasn't Marth, he was too busy getting crit THREE TIMES).

Overall, I'd say I enjoyed this experience a lot more than when I played FE1 casually. I'm a sucker for the NES aesthetic, and all of the weird quirks of this game did grow on me despite the salt inducing parts (shoutouts to the ONE map theme until the final map). I'm not sure if I'll play this again anytime soon but it was worth the $6. Also I did enjoy the Turn Rewind and the Savestates immensely. I also appreciated the Classic Characters™ for this draft, because they hard carried me; for future FE1 drafts (fat chance), I wouldn't make all of the classic characters free but I would definitely make Minerva free. She just makes the game so much less painful than it can be and is really only useable if she is free. Anyways, time to end this on some unit reviews!

Marth: He started out good but then steadily started falling off until around when I gave him the Power Ring. He then started spiraling out of control and became ridiculous despite being pretty screwed in several key stats.

Jagen: Good throughout the game! He definitely fell off around midgame but he still contributed pretty frequently despite that.

Caeda: She got 3 Strength/Defense levels early on and then never procced either stat for most of the rest of the game. Turns out, it didn't matter because she could augment her offense with powerful weapons thanks to her high Weapon Level Stat and still double with them thanks to her ridiculous Speed; an invaluable unit, for sure.

Draug: He was huge for the first four chapters before he started doing next to nothing for the rest of the game. Still worth drafting.

Darros: Somehow, he contributed frequently (up until the Final Chapter even) despite being an axe unit with not the best stats. Surprisingly useful.

Lena: Being able to Warp for the units who costed turns and just being a Mend/Physic bot the rest of the time made her a pretty useful unit despite not gaining any levels.

Navarre: He was critical in some clears and helped with some important bosskills but otherwise was just decent all around; never as bad as a unit like Darros but never one of my best units.

Wendell: Actually not as good as I expected, but he still carried through the early midgame before becoming a staffbot later on (with some notable exceptions).

Hardin: This guy was nuts, he was actually my only blessed unit and it showed with how much he helped in every single chapter after he joined (...except for the ones that needed fliers). If Minerva didn't exist, he would definitely be the MVP of this run.

Wolf: Another unit who was surprisingly useful. He was critical to some of my clears (thanks, daddy Parthia), and he was at least able to do something in most maps after he joined. I thought he'd be awful but here we are.

Rickard: Once he chipped an enemy that Caeda barely couldn't ORKO and that is what makes him better than if he was undrafted.

Caesar: Just as there is a best, there is also a worst. I don't think Caesar contributed to anything in this run that noone else could do. I would have rather had like...*checks who was available to draft at the time*...Julian probably, just for another early game unit. Maybe he would have been more useful if Navarre wasn't free but I'm unconvinced on that TBH.

Minerva: The MVP of the game. I knew she'd be good because Dracoknights have insane bases and she immediately ate a Speed Ring right after joining but damn. She carried so many chapters despite being kind of stat screwed and it would have been impossible to clear some maps as fast as I did without her.

Linde: Surprisingly clutch. She wasn't essential to too many clears, but the ones she was, she did real good in. Just being able to hit hard with Aura in a game where Strength doesn't affect Magic damage was surprisingly huge.

Palla: Pretty good despite never gaining Strength or Luck until the Final Chapter (never gained Defense once either). Just having another flier with good bases was more than enough, and kind of essential on a few maps. She definitely cost me a turn, but I think she made it up in the end.

Gotoh: The original. He made the final chapter a lot less painful than it could have been.
