Here's my take for Tokyo Mirage Sessions. It actually forms part of a much bigger headcanon that I have with Persona 3 to 5. Just to note, the links are all to my related Reddit entries. See here (Yu, Yukiko, and Naoto), here (for my altered story of Persona 4), and here (Yu, Yukiko, Kanji, and Naoto's parents and their late 1970s adventures prior to P4)

TMSFE takes place in an alternate timeline branching right off from Persona 4's ending. Yalbadoth gets discovered months later by Naoto Shirogane V (or canon!Naoto from P4) and Mitsuru under instruction and leadership of National Police Agency's Principal Inspector General (*1) Sayuri Dojima-Narukami (Yu's mother, see above link), and subsequently gets eliminated. As such, the majority of the Conspiracy gets taken down by Naoto and Sayuri earlier than during the main timeline, and Sayuri herself gets promoted to Commissioner General (*2) due to the other top brass being arrested in the ensuing investigation.

The main story for TMSFE takes place in March to June 2017. The FE characters are a different form of Personas, while other pop-culture characters can also be summoned in this game's story. (Pokemon, Zelda, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Sonic, Disney etc)

Some of the character backstories:

  • Itsuki: His love-blind tendencies is actually due to a few things. Itsuki was deprived of a lot of his free time due to his parents being demanding on academic achievement, and similar strict in other aspects of Itsuki's life. In particular, they see dating to be a waste of time that could be put to studying, and they look down on people who aren't high-achievers academically and financially. All Istuki ever did was studying for much of his child life, and he has very little experience in other aspects of his life. This also explains why Itsuki struggled with trying to find what he wanted to do in the story - he had very little choice in life. The reason why Itsuki was even allowed to join Fortuna in the first place was due to Sayuri convincing and negotiating with Itsuki's parents (both being fellow Waseda alumni with Sayuri) that she needed Itsuki's help. Itsuki is also the most un-woke person - regardless of his father being one of the senior prosecutors in the National Prosecution Agency, Itsuki is little aware of who his father had been investigating, and even less aware of who he avoids investigating. It does not help that Itsuki's parents refuses to discuss them on the dinner table. This is in contrast to Yu and Ren, whose are as of 2017 very much aware (within what is legally disclosable) and supportive of, their respective mother and grandfather investigating corrupt officials and politicians including former Opposition Leader Masayoshi Shido.
  • Yashiro: Apart from J-Pop, Yashiro is also a student for Tokyo University of the Arts, as a classical tenor singer. His favorite song is Die Leiermann from the Winterreise suite, composed by Franz Schubert.
  • Barry: Barry Goodman is the (fictional) grandson of Benny Goodman. His debut was playing guitar in his grandfather's ensemble just before Benny's death in 1986, and he was a jazz guitarist for quite some time prior to forming Tetradeath. He is also a family man, who initially watched Dia Witch Iroha just to spend quality time with his daughter before getting into the show himself.
  • Maiko: Maiko may be quite an airhead, but she is well-educated, being a commerce graduate from Keio University. She also has genuine business acumen, which saw the company grow into being eligible for listing in the Second Division of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in under 4 years - although she refuses to have her company listed as she wanted complete control of her own office. It also helped that Fortuna is a very "white" corporations, with good pay and reasonably good working hours.

The relationships between #FE and P3-5 characters are as follows:

  • Rise and Yukari ended up getting their own mirages at some point in TMSFE, as part of the Shadow Operative's cooperation with Fortuna. Both ended up being transferred from Takura Pro to Fortuna sometime after TMSFE's ending.
  • Ann Takamaki is a friendly rival of, and sometimes collaborates with Eleonora Yurumizu. They get along very well, due to their common struggles as half-Japanese/half-whites. If Yu did not romance anyone from P4, he'll end up romancing either due to his affinity as a kikoku shijo, and himself being more comfortable with people that aren't as conformist.
  • Nanako Dojima and Kanami Mashita during Dancing All Night, and Misuzu Hiiragi before that, were a few of the inspirations for Mamori Minamoto entering into showbiz. On the other hand, Nanako and Ryotaro watches Mamorin's show every week to get ideas for her home cooking.
  • Both Naoto Shiroganes V and III (for legal/procedural knowledge) and Sayuri Narukami (for insight on society, crime, and police administration) gave consultation advice on Sneeze Detective Maho. The result? Kids loved the silly moments when Tsubasa's switches between her timid normal self vs her aggressive tomboyish reactions. Adults, on the other hand, were inspired by the surprisingly serious undertones of social commentaries.
  • Mahiro Tsurumi was an old friend of Takaisa Amamiya (*3) who went to Kyoto University together. Mahiro was formerly a political and economics journalist that helped expose many scandals in the National Diet, and he faced many hardships with it, including death threats, assaults, sabotages from politicians and their supporting Yakuza members - one of which was Junya Kaneshiro. Due to his inherently rebellious role - a trait still frowned upon in Japan - many in the media industry refuse to acknowledge their association with him. In 2006, he was elected as a Diet member representing one of Tokyo's constituencies. Some time during 2013, he raised a relatively minor issue with one of the other parties' irregular accounting. One thing lead to another, and he ended up uncovering Masayoshi Shido's corruption scandal from mid-2014. Despite Shido and his henchmens' obstructions, Mahiro persisted thanks to Sayuri and Sae's assistance, and investigations against Shido commenced in mid-2015, although legalities involving members of Diet prevented his arrest until later that year. (*5) After Mahiro's retirement, Daitou TV headhunted and recruited him shortly after, surprising everyone who expected him to remain persona non grata from the industry.
    • As for Sayuri Narukami, her work in the aforementioned scandal further cemented her fame and prestige as a progressive and reformist Commissioner. For Sae Niijima, this marked her first notable case against corrupt politicians and officials, as well as her first major promotion in the National Prosecution Agency ranks. For Naoto Shirogane V, this not only made government officials to take her seriously, but also marked the first time when she proudly called herself as the Detective Princess (and later Queen). All three women's careers skyrocketed from this and inspired other girls and women to purse their career in law enforcement.
  • Kanji and his mother occasionally designed some of the costumes on behalf of the production companies. Yashiro noticed Kanji's excellent workmanship and asked him to tailor a pair of suits and trousers, to the former's delight.
  • Kyoka Ochimizu (from P4D) and Maiko are graduates from Keio University, and this is part of the reason why Kyoka trusts Maiko's management. Yes, Kyoka also thinks Maiko is somewhat of an airhead, but the former also saw the latter's business achievements and came to the conclusion that Rise and Yukari would be in safe hands under Maiko.Further helping both Maiko and Kyoka (but not Sayuri) is the opportunity for the two to poke fun at Sayuri, who was a Waseda graduate. (*4)

Episode highlights for Sneeze Detective Maho, with guest artists:

  • Episode 8-9 featured people taking hallunication drugs and then falling into dispair that essentially described the social problems Persona 3 picked up. Yukari Takeba plays one of the victims in these episodes.
  • Episodes 10-11 featured the dangers of rumors and unreliable media, and told a story that was basically identical to what the Investigation Team had gone through. Alice Hiiragi plays one of the idols who is caught in a scandal.
  • Episodes 12-13 featured an over-the-top sadistic teacher as the villain. Nevertheless, the villain and his story was inspired by Naoto and Yu's struggle in PTSD after Suguru Kamoshida abused them. (See one of the above hc links.) While Kuen expected this duology to be somewhat controversial, it ended up receiving praise from many quarters, not least from advocates of school abuse victims. Since this episode has aired, other students and their families began to come forward with their stories of abuse and trauma, and a number of schools across the nation made inquiries and changes into their club activities. Most notably, Yotsuya Metropolitain restructured its club activities by introducing amateur level clubs for casual sports members, and opened them to the general public.
  • Episodes 14-15 featured a group of corrupt politicians trying to gain undue political power. It was essentially an alternate retelling of Commissioner-General Sayuri Narukami, Chief Prosecutor Sae Niijima, Detective Princess Naoto Shirogane V, Shadow Operatives Leader Misturu Kirijo and their faithfuls' successful prosecution against Member of Diet and Opposition Leader Masayoshi Shido, fellow MDs Jun Owada and Seigo Ooe and their henchmen for their corrupt dealings. It also became the series's most controversial duology, not least because the story was a blatant challenge to the conservatism and the deference to (mainly male-dominated) authority in Japanese society. To name a few, all of the politicians and bureaucrats were, with some exceptions, negatively depicted, while the majority of the heroes were mainly everyday citizens. Furthermore, the majority of the heroes' allies were female - including Naoto as herself in cameo, and Sayuri made into an expy cameo called Sayaka Midosuji from the fictional National Bureau of Investigations - while the majority of the villains were male.
As such, right-wing reactionaries were incensed by how the story "shoves western values" onto their own society, and they were determined to not let this narrative dominate popular political discourse. Soon, they started to send death threats to the actors and other production staff members. Tsubasa was terrified by some of the death threats she received, and Maiko, Kiria, Itsuki, and Rise (of Risette fame) were also frightened for Tsubasa's safety.
Touma and Yashiro were conflicted, but for opposite reasons. Touma understood why Kuen needed to air the eposides, but was uncomfortable forcing Tsubasa to continue acting when she did not yet have the experience and the emotional maturity. Yashiro, on the other hand was unsympathetic with Tsubasa's misgivings, but was also distrustful of Kuen's (and Sayuri's/Naoto's) "excessively woke attitudes" as he called them. Eleonora alongside Yashiro also received similar threats, but she was the only Fortuna member to act defiant against the right-wing chauvinists and determined to participate in producing the latest eposide. Director Mahiro Tsurumi was equally determined to get the episodes on air and even more so were the two cameo members, Sayuri and Naoto. Naoto in particular - who previously faced related hardships before - yelled at Tsubasa (and Rise for that matter) for copping out, while the two retorted back at Naoto for her increasing disregard of her and the surrounding people's safety. The situation all came to a head when Itsuki's parents barged into the Fortuna Office to force the duology's cancellation. However, Sayuri not only refused to back down, but she even threatened them into silence by showing them copies of bills for dinner sessions Itsuki's father had with several politicians being investigated. Eventually, Sayuri arranged Tsubasa, Eleonora, and Yashiro to be escorted by the Shadow Operatives, while Sayuri herself and Naoto led the investigations on the threats and other harrassments. Meanwhile, Inspector Haruo Kurosawa (promoted from Sergeant since 2016) enlisted officers from Nagatacho, Hibiya, and Odaiba Police Departments to escort other staff and to keep guard against possible threats. Under heavy surveillance, the filming and the broadcast went without incident, while the police led by Sayuri and Haruo found out the harassers and charged them with the relevant crimes.
This controversy ironically brought international publicity to the previously obscure TV show. While Japanese critics and audiences were divided in their opinions towards this duology, critical opinions from North America and Europe were far more positive. Many there noted that this episode was a much needed wake-up call to the Japanese people, and praised the production staff and actors for their courage in taking a stance.

*1 Yes, it is an actual thing. In Japanese, it's called shuseki kansatukan (首席監察官), and its leads the internal affairs team for the entire nationwide police force.
*2 The head honcho of the NPA, or the chokan (長官).
*3 Sayuri's former direct supervisor, former Principal Inspector-General, and P5!Ren's grandfather.
*4 Basically Waseda and Keio Universities are historic rivals to each other, particularly in intercollegiate sports.
*5 Article 50 of the Japanese Constitution as a rule forbids arrest of Members of Diet when the Diet is in session, with some exceptions.

Mark's a Bern Defector on the run, the reason Vaida/Heath don't recognize them is due to Bern's army being large enough they simply never met, this is why the woman mentions a "Mark" in Bern despite Mark apparently having never been there when they talked to Eliwood.

Everyone in Fire Emblem is capable of storing others in a small pocket dimension called the "Rescue" Dimension, this is also why you never see a visibly pregnant woman in FE as the baby is stored in this dimension.

Jeralt mostly held Byleth in the Rescue pocket dimension during their mercenary days, which is why Byleth constantly nearly dies in Three Houses cutscenes due to barely actually doing any mercenary work.

Hector's wife died due to an accidental "Critical hit" while they were together one night.

Anna is actually a single lovecraftian abomination capable of appearing in several places at once, who thirsts for nothing but gold, she's also the reason Nergal's morphs in the last chapter of FE7 had all those unique powerful weapons, Nergal bought them off her as she sells to both sides in pursuit of money.

Merlinus is a good divine figure that helps out heroes in need via providing convoy, hence why he's immortal.

Merlins X Marcus S-rank is canon and the OTP of Elibe as it's the only paired FE7 ending that's hinted to be truly canon as Merlinus sets up shop in Ostia in his unpaired ending but works for Eliwood in his Marcus support ending.

A few years after the War of Heroes, Maria reclaimed her birthright and became Queen of Macedon. She saw the despair and/or restlessness of her countrymen, rallied support and petitioned the United Kingdom to restore her kingdom's former sovereignty. This led to a rift between her and Minerva, although that started when she found out her sister lied about Michalis being alright.

Hugh got hired to protect an orphanage in Ilia after the war with Bern and fell in love with a cleric who also worked there. Niime tries to be supportive but can barely hide her exasperation.

Shinon and Titania are sleeping with each other, as are Sigrun and Tanith.

Leon will eventually find someone who is both sexually compatible and hard to kill.

There's a far richer diversity of body types than we actually see displayed in-game.

Gale actually survive in battle against roy army, just not capable mounting a wyvern anymore and reunite with Melady after the war

Idunn recover her emotion and visit Roy often when he becomes leader of Lycia

Theres Alm direct descendant in Awakening timeframe, but didnt bother to get in with the ongoing conflict

Sonya didnt become witch like the rumors circling around, just she acts like one so people dont bother her research.

Telluis is the first of the FE worlds, which then got shattered into several different dimensions that can still reconnect at times. Asheruna (Is that the right spelling?) similarly shattered and eventually became the various Deity-level beings in the games.

no mention of it iirc. just someone who wants to follow Alm footstep of uniting the continent.  i reject the idea since he's ugly, nowhere near as handsome as Alm in Sov

Headcanons for Binding Blade:

  • Roy being oblivious to love for the rest of the girls besides Lilina is deliberate on his part. He and Lilina always wanted to stay together, and promised to marry each other, and both take this promise and honour seriously.
  • Oujay and Lalum are long lost siblings when their parents were killed, and the two lost each other during the Lycian civil war in FE7.
  • Cath is a Lycian who fled her town near the border of Bern when the battlefront nudged closer to her town. Ever since, she self-learned the tricks of the trade in lockpicking and stealth.
  • Elliwood remained somewhat traumatised, both at Elbert's and Ninian's deaths, and the falling out of his former schoolmate Eric, and he also became borderline allergic to warfare in general. He clearly was in no form to raise and lead an army, let alone pass the leadership to Roy. So why did Roy come out much stronger mentally? It was not only Cecilia and Marcus who trained Roy to be emotionally ready for battle, but it was also due to Lyndis being Roy's mother (and being emotionally stronger and less naive in general), who raised Roy also to be emotionally stronger than Elliwood.
  • While Hector may be much more battle-ready and tougher than Elliwood, his advantage is offset by his lack of skills in political manouvering, diplomatic skills, and strategy, leading to the disaster at Araphen. It turned out, Hector only decided to contact Etruria on the Alliance's behalf after Elliwood repeatedly whinged to Hector for over the course of several weeks, wasting valuable time in bolstering the Lycian side of the front. By the time Hector got around to it, it was too late: most of the Bernian Army that were not in Ilia or Sacae were already mobilised against Lycia by the time correspondence reached the Etrurian Government.
  • Meanwhile, Leygance has heard of the disastrous defeat of the Lycian main forces at Araphen and decided that Lycia was a lost cause. (In fact, he was acutely aware of Hector's weaknesses as a leader, and repeatedly echoed Elliwood's warnings towards Hector.) Under much desparation, he prepared his surrender despite Lilina's furious protests, just so that the citizens may at least live in some form, or so he thought. Unfortunately for him, Lilina was too distraught to think straight and Leygance had her arrested. Further lack of communications doomed Leygance, with Roy and Lilina eventually taking back Ostia by force (as per Chapter 7-8), killing Leygance in the process.

Yarne's a perpetual coward because he had a whole litter of siblings and he was the sole survivor who had to watch in horror as Grima personally devoured his entire family, drilling into him in one single, traumatic moment that he had to survive, no matter what.

Ah the wonders of "Oh crap we didn't actually think about making a prequel" which means only so much can happen.

I like FE7 but it does hit alotta bad prequel problems. (Being completely unplanned probably didn't help.)

After all it's hard to tie into a game when you also have to really make sure your prequel won't have been mentioned during the many times it should have been mention during Binding Blade. (And even then you could argue someone probably should have told Roy at some point his dad had intercourse with a dragon and he was the result.)

More Headcanons:

Mark died during the conflicts before the start of FE6, possibly trying to help either Lyn or Hector during the battles in Sacae/Ostia before Roy arrived.

The reason there are no mines/light runes in FE6 is that Mark used them all up during/after FE7 and bought and used every last one of them.
In every FE game with the "Wo Dao" it is a foreign imported Sword from a fictionalized version of Japan. (Wasn't aware this was actually confirmed in New Mystery somewhat when I was googling it to check I spelt it right so the headcanon is more that it's this in every FE continuity with it.)

Summoned Monsters like Mogalls are summoned from an different, messed up Dimension. (Kinda like Xen in Half-Life but a bit more freaky and H.R Geiger Inspired.)

they took the entirely wrong approach for the game. nothing about binding blade stopped a prequel from actually having conflicts between the nations happening, i am pretty sure. the fact they are not mentioned just means no major ones happened. they could have explored the internal biran [i will make the NoE names happen] issues that led to zephiel being what he is so much better with a war. it doesn't need to be a full scale war! T776 exists and it's fine! find a way to get lycia (and therefore eliwood and hector) involved and bim bam boom, prequel achieved. why did we need nergal, and the dragon's gate, and quintessence, and half-dragons that can actually transform, and the entire concept of the black fang, which still stands as one of the silliest things ever written in this franchise and we only pretend to not see it because it has a handful of hot badasses? no, lloyd reed, your characterization and design being literal perfection does not save the writing of your father's organization.

but no, they chose to make a weird story full of holes where no war actually happens and none of its events have any actual historical relevance whatsoever so it's like it never even existed. the main characters have absolutely no development whatsoever and end the exact same way they started the game as, so i guess it fits. can you guys tell i am not fond of blazing blade's writing? thank god the gameplay is pretty good.

oh, sorry, i went a bit offtopic. headcanon for elibe: eliwood and hector actually fought a war after the events of BlaBla so their status in BinBla actually means crap. also eliwood didn't marry ninian and she fucked off back to dragontopia or whatever the hell dragons live. roy doesn't need this can of worms in his dna. yet another husband for Nameless Maiden in this franchise (the only eliwood pairing based on his supports i actually like is... hector himself, which, lol. couldn't they have written his potential wives a bit better?).

I actually agree with most of what you're saying. BlaBla messes with BinBla's story more than it helps fleshing out the world and some of the latter's side characters. And Roy being heavily implied to be 1/4 dragon makes it even more silly that Eliwood never told him about the whole Nergal stuff even after it's revealed that Zephiel has dragons under his command.

Yeah, it kind of retroactively adds stuff so that BINBLA makes less sense, in a way. And ignored the rules BINBLA set.

Although the last line of the game being literally just "Dragon" makes me laugh every time. I wonder if there was something lost in translation there, because Zephiel saying, "Who are you and whaddya want?" and someone replying with just "Dragon" is...Wack.

One thing BLABLA did well with prequel-wise was Zephiel. Even if the assassins were terrible, Zephiel was really well done. Karel was also a neat tie-in.

this i agree. somehow they do zephiel justice by showing us his true nature like Guinevere describe in FE6.

for karel whole situation tho, dunno if its intentional or not, but im sure i've seen his archetype in wuxia stories. a kid (Fir) having a mother which died shortly after giving birth despite prominent in martial arts, with her husband being muscle-for-brains type, then said kid seek guidance from relative (  Karel ) who is in fact the strongest in his prime (and still is maybe)

thank you so much

i also agree with you guys with that zephiel arc of BlaBla is really good, which is just as well because that was the ONE job the game had. that's why the game should have focused on that part and not have created... all of the others.

imagine this (does it count as headcanon? i also imagined this in 30 minutes so don't be scared if it sucks):

Spoiler

elbert still disappears and darin-led lahus still thinks it's hot shit, but we remove ephidel and the dragon's gate from the picture and just make it a lycian civil war. despite eliwood and hector advancing, darin seems to obtain significant information and gains, including killing uther. in the final darin confrontation, elbert shows up and reveals darin is being helped by the black fang, here an actual assassin group of few people but highly competent. jaffar shows up, kills elbert, but leaves darin to die, and warns eliwood and hector they will be next if they don't stay in lycia etc.

lycian civil war is done, but eliwood and hector want to know who the fuck that person who killed elbert is, so they ignore warnings and pursue the hints of matthew's darling gf leila (not a black fang here, but would have heard of them), which starts taking them to biran. there, they find out there is turbulence in the royal family and that desmond hates his son zephiel, then the assassination attempt (the one as described in BinBla, the poisoned wine one) occurs. eliwood and hector find out desmond ordered the assassination... and also instigated the entire lycian conflict, so he'd have an excuse to invade them and get zephiel killed in the ensuing chaos and have lycia (with murdock and hellene as collaborators) to blame, but eliwood and hector following the black fang trail gave him an earlier opportunity.

biran declares war on pherae/ositia, eliwood and hector believe zephiel is dead, the anti-desmond sect of biran actually sides with pherae/ositia, and in the midst of all this, we get zephiel's funeral where he kills desmond. with desmond dead, biran stops fighting and we find out this was actually all masterminded by desmond's commoner lover and guinivere's mother, who also got herself into the black fang's high ranks by fucking brendan reed, which is why the black fang obeys desmond's increasingly unethical orders. yes, i am making human!sonia the main villain of BlaBla and her motivation is just getting to be on top of the world. sonia wants to get rid of them so she can still have a hope of ruling biran (and the world?), the endgame is eliwood and hector dealing with the remnants of the black fang, with some of them getting on our side because sonia is not what they are all about and some being a bit of a camus about it. sonia is the final boss.

so, this solves many problems. zephiel is king, but also a broken man. guinivere has no parents and her brother is now crazy but she remained good somehow. eliwood and hector have actual war credentials to their names. not a dragon was in sight, nor did we need one. black fang existed and so did their hot badasses, and it wasn't the dumbest thing this side of fates. the zephiel/jahn ending can actually stay the exact same. the game is better. this also solves the timing contradiction between BinBla (where guinivere says she was a child when zephiel killed desmond) and BlaBla (where zephiel killed desmond 15 years later and guinivere is no longer a child). roy not knowing about this and guinivere giving him a very cliff's notes version in BinBla is a bit weird, but a lot less weird than, like, roy possibly being part dragon. the end.

That would be interesting but I think the point about Hector in FE7 was that everyone and he himself vastly underestimate him due to his reputation. Hector says everyone things he's just a lout unsuited for politics and he seems to agree, but whenever the political situation needs explaining its Hector, not Eliwood who does it.

Hector being brawns over brains seems to mostly be an attitude problem that would likely solve itself with age.

bruh that last part really got me.

Roy having dragon blood serves no purpose story or (more importantly) gameplay. unless they want to retcon many thing  in remake and make sophia actually able to transform and roy having some kind of boon from his supposed dragon blood

also that part about guinevere still a kid when zephiel murder his father really went past over me.

Spoiler

interestingly, the manga also show that Zephiel actually kill his father near Binbla story timeline rather than Blabla which guinevere still a kid. but every lore the manga shows must be taken with big grain of salt

I think Dedue is responsible for Dimitri's awful haircut. Kid Dimitri has these long hairs that make him look like a complete girl. Tired of having his lord snickered at for looking like a girl Dedue personally gave him a new haircut. He just wasn't good at it and accidentally made Dimitri's hair look like a mop, which people also snicker about.
