Tee-hee~!  I considered giving you Cavalier Merric, but I figured Tomas is funnier.

But I liiike Merric.

Then again, using Cav Tomas can only make me a better lunatic. I know that people do H5 generic only runs. How can I ever get to that level? Not with people like Matthis. He's an S tier. I wanna be the funny DS man who excels with low tiers. That's like my goal in life. That, and abolishing urbanization

I'm very glad Cain is growing well as mage. Always loved the idea of a physical unit becoming a magical unit and still kicking ass, bless reclassing.

It's true that his growths are pretty good for not being meant to be a mage. 35% magic isn't high, but Merric only has 40%. The main downside to reclassed mages is that they can't use Excalibur or Aura at base. Of course, most reclassed mages to a lot of base speed. Luckily, he's doing pretty well now. He still needs more speed to reliably double. I literally could've given him the speedwing to guarantee double's that would 1RKO everyone. But that's boring. SpeeDarros is where it's at.

Chapter 14: Seeing This Map Makes me Want to Replay New Mystery

Cord and co. managed to make it to the kingdom of Grust itself, now able to take out the root of most enemies that have tried to hinder Cordcoin's progression. Now, we settle everything. Grust either obeys Cord's demands to integrate Cordcoin into their economical structure with no resistance or manipulation from the regal class, or they get to experience the punishment of not paying taxes.

Rickard has been about as helpful as my normal pills. He needs an upgrade. So I gave him the arms scroll. I could've given it to Tomas for actual lances, or Hardin so he can finally use his silver sword, but dammit I want Rickard to contribute. With C rank, he can use the armorslayer to 1RKO the armor knights this chapter. Hoping he can get some levels this chapter.

He didn't get any levels.....

http://laTJBZt.png

Rickard makes his biggest contribution so far, constructing a bridge from his lego collection to get us through without sliding through the blatant trap set up by Grustian archers.

http://lExznTc.png

Minerva bonks a knight with a cartoonishly oversized hammer, and Matthis stabs the other one. He chose to fight the one with the ridersbane because he isn't afraid to fight at a disadvantage, evoking fear to his enemies. Also because he's a chad.

 http://5T6t24x.png

Bord finally makes use of being a pirate, bating out the knights only to give them the deal of a lifetime. The value only goes up.

http://jYT575V.png

Did anyone forget about Caesar? I almost did. Considering that Roshea has yet to gain any magic, Caesar is probably a better bet for a competent healer, so I plan to get this guy more kills to early promote him, hopefully gaining some magic points on the way. Darros took care of the other cav and levels up.

http://vhimWan.png

We doing it lads. We getting cap speed hunter Darros. Get your crypto ready.

http://jwSX8ZE.png

Even though the bridge was made, Cord wanted to make Grust pay....money

He gets his Cordcoin (hand axe) ready, while Marth sneaks behind him to head to the village to inform them of Grust's upcoming new ruler. Tomas wanted to see the speech of Cordcoin's maker himself, but got himself shot by two bows, barely surviving. Stupid boy.

http://igFnkXw.png

With stats like that, how can you not trust him?

http://RLg5vaY.png

On turn 3, The Tomas bullies immediately receive karma, as they soon feel Matthis breathing down their neck, turning around to see the infamous Grust Reaper, holding a bloodied silver lance and his sinister smile

http://0R99KsY.png

He has no regrets. No guilt to hold him back. Just the serotonin of seeing those sweet greens, much similar to how I feel of seeing the greens of my wallet when evading taxes.   this is a joke

http://IctmpXk.png

Rickard does a thing. Turn 4 was just moving. However, there were thieves in the bottom right of the map. One of them opens the door on enemy phase, letting out the sharp shooting sniper, brother of the hash slinging slasher.

http://fqe2g6e.png

Bord actually saved me here. Minerva rushes off to challenge the thief to a minecraft pvp match, but that leaves only 4 units to fend off both the sharp shooting sniper and the 2nd thief. I have to surround the guy, because he 1RKO's everyone, but I can't let the theif get away with his crime of taking money from customers that should surrender it to us. No one was able to kill the guy, except for Bord. My man pulled through for me. Thanks big guy.

http://Fqh565L.png

Ok. I just complemented you. Don't make me take it back with that zero strength.

http://0S3p6s4.png

As expected, Minerva crushes the thief in the pvp, or as Michalis would say, epically pwn'd them. Sigma unit.

http://D4eOQ5F.png

You might laugh now, but you'll be sorry when you yourself become surrounded and hopeless to fight back from the ever growing influence of urbanization.

http://75jcUPw.png

Who the hell is this guy? He must have some history with his kingdom, as he referred to Cord Castle by its previous name under Barst's rule. Also, why does he call Marth a prince? Something's off here.

http://xAugC03.png

I sense a cool boss fight incoming. He screams "I have a cool boss theme". In fact, he literally screamed that as he left. What a weirdo. Is he serious?

http://4D6W2ze.png

As all of that was happening, the main army was heading towards Grust's throne room, and it's relatively absent of guards, as they were busy with a Nickelodeon All Stars tournament. Caesar gets another war crime added to the list.

http://Z7jN7PZ.png

I mean, I guess he'll stop getting doubled soon. 2 magic though...

http://dn7HW1M.png

Cord spends 2 two turns having a deep conversation with Darros. They share their past lives, hobbies, aspirations and the like. Cord offers a promotion for Darros. He told him that he wanted him to be his 3rd retainer. Darros, very surprised to hear this, asks him about how Cord already has a full duo of that. Cord responds with "Who da hell's gunna stop me from having three?" Darros replies "Thanks boss, but...I'm so close. My own quest is almost over. I want to reach it on my own. Only then will I truly deserve to hold that title." Cord chuckles, letting him know that he'll wait until then, proud of his determination. Right after this, they are ambushed by fliers, but they use that as more time to gain non existent support ranking.

http://d5ujtjj.png

Tomas finally gets a kill...against a nun. Funny man.

 http://7k5xJb6.png

Marth made his way forward to the king of Grust. Now having overtaken the capitol, the King is left with very little options regarding the future of his country. Marth presents a contract to him regarding business between Cord Castle and Grust, forcing Grust to convert to Cordcoin.

http://rpBMiR3.png

You know, you'd think they'd make this boss more notable. This chapter feels like it should be an important one. Just saying.

http://undefined

Roshea gets a good level up for once. I don't know what his magic growth is, but oh man 1 magic healer was quite the experience.

Total Turn Count: 12

Spoiler

http://Xl9KNT5.png

I could've cleared the map on turn 10, as the boss got disintegrated on turn 9, but I needed two more turns to open both chests with Rickard. I actually had to given up on having him chip kill the sniper because of that. So he sadly didn't level up. If I had just had Rickard run straight to the chests, I probably would've gotten both chests right on turn 10. Oh well. This felt like a very short chapter to narrate. There's very few enemies, and reinforcements can easily be avoided. Too bad Palla and Catria canonically died in chapter 7.

If you truly want to excel at low tiers, then you shall need to study the way of Swordmaster Wendell!  Which I was also tempted to do, but I decided that it was a little too adventurous.

Spoiler

http://gNZtBM5.png

I'm going to be honest. He looks like a better unit than at least three of my current units. I like the adventurous ways of DS reclassing chaos. This is hilarious! Look at that speed! That's insane! There's no balance to this guy. Beanbag strength. Helicopter speed. What's not to love? Even at chapter 15, this guy would put in more work than Tomas or even Rickard.  Maybe in another PMU in the future, there can be more chaos like this. It's a shame New Mystery reclassing doesn't really get this crazy though. This run is super fun, so I already anticipate doing more stuff like this.

Chapter 15: Sand, Sand, and more Sand

Cord has reached the part of his journey where he is obligated to undergo a desert map. He could easily go through a different route, but if he doesn't play the map, he'll be laughed at for chickening out. Every hero has a desert story to tell! It's tradition. This would be Cord's biggest regret though, as he was unknowingly traveling to Reddit Island.

Spoiler

http://rqCkCVv.png

Tomas my man. You need more strength. Cain will beat you strength if you don't get some levels. So I went ahead and forged an iron lance by +4 might. Now he'll deal single digit damage.

http://iRmoQir.png

And here we see the infamous Gharnef, social media influencer with at least a million subscribers and 500 reddit gold. More importantly, he's the leader of Reddit Island. Upon seeing inferior people taint this precious island of higher beings with their uncultured brains, Gharnef leaves his mancave to show the other reddtiors why he is king. That ball you see on the screen is actually him shooting his reddit gold as a weapon.

http://VN97CaF.png

This guy has insane speed. All that typing he does made given him crazy fast fingers, letting him spam Imhullu like a Ness main. Well how am I gonna beat that? He doubles everyone and no one has res. Well, there's one guy.

http://52PLR2r.png

Roshea has been getting level ups that would make Jagen laugh, but res was actually his strong suit. So I promoted him at level 17 and gave him a pure water. This should make him strong enough to be the wall that blocks him from the rest of my gold-less army.

http://sAIHXCa.png

These guys are strong, but they've only gotten 2 levels up from chapter 7. That's Shadow Dragon for you. Some have 10 defense and some have 11. This determines whether Wolf can OHKO them or not.

When trying to cross through the desert island, the road was blocked by two redditors mages, calling themselves the grumpy old trolls who live over the bridge, and Cord was about to get trolled. He doesn't have the patience to deal with their antics, so they were quickly killed. This did cause wyverns from the top to fly down. Luckily, they're free exp.

Spoiler

http://NthGn05.png

Y'know, I really like this chapter. If you count this as a traditional desert map, it's gotta be one of the best ones. I really considered the unit placement for this one, and dealing with mages who deal heavy damage but have virtually no defense. Desert tiles only cover some spots, and the mages+wyverns being unnafected by the terrain makes their movement really matter, so your positioning is super important to ensure that they don't swarm you. Yes, I'm a simp for Shadow Dragon map design.

http://3kBeWyc.png

Turn 1 took me so long to get through. Why? I wanted Rickard to get a good level up. Plenty of my units were close to level ups, and two exp mages being right in front of me seemed like the perfect moment to make good use of getting a decent level. I'm not trying to rig for perfect levels. I just don't want a bad Rickard level up. That was much easier said than done. I've had Cain gone through like 5 different levels, the mage would randomize with more hp and I would notice too late, sometimes Tomas would get one, and Rickard would just mess up the kill. More often than not, he'd get +skill. I am not settling for that, ok?

http://rGfILCS.png

Criticals. Cain got a perfect level on this one. Why Rickard why?

http://eda0Ao2.png

Luckily, on my actual run, Cain still got a pretty neat level. Rickard needs to be barrier'd to survive the mage, and Roshea can't be too far behind.

http://OeBIa5v.png

You'd think that I'd have reset for attack and speed, but trust me, this level took so long to reach. Naga hates thieves. No blessed levels for criminals. Besides, I'd feel scummy resetting for full levels. I just don't want this to be a H3 PMU 0% growths experience for Rickard.

http://6zqcZQR.png

Minerva brags once more about having flying utility by flying past all of the sand. What a show off.

http://48pgiwq.png

Having only 1 flier makes that character feel much more special. Guess that's why some people don't like endless reclassing. Then again, we wouldn't have hunter Darros that way.

http://FQI6xXQ.png

On turn 2, the wyvern riders try to join in on the trolling, only to have a Wolf waiting for them with a clever trap set up for them. Marth completely abandons that plan by rushing through the sand to leave this dammed island already. This recklessness disgusts Wolf, but makes Cord proud.

http://ATdl5sG.png

Cain sweetens up the theif, then lets Tomas go in for the kill sales pitch. In the process, he gets a tome increase. Now he's at B. You know what that means right?

http://qdhwsSU.png

Tomas good???

http://O2jQjYp.png

The last enemy phase was silly. Wolf missed the first wyvern and the 2nd one went for Marth. Luckily, Marth dealt 2 damage with the levin sword, which lets Wolf slap them with some good ol crypto.

http://w96rvGL.png

You know, I used to have "Cord good" be my whole thing, but I think I might have to make up my own phrase that includes Darros in it. He deserves recognition.

http://wTpHooV.png

By turn 4, Minerva has made her way to the "boss". It makes sense that the guard for Reddit Island is a faceless nobody. No offense to frequent reddit users here.

http://K2z1PEH.png

Wolf is really good at selling Cordcoin. Perhaps he intimidates them into buying it with that soulless face.

http://u3YDEHo.png

It's only turn 5 and the seize point is already open. Can't complain about Minerva's level up considering Tomas getting lucky.

http://ujY4yVc.png

Minerva tried looking cool by striking them down from behind. It was honestly kind of cringe.

http://PJRfKsJ.png

Don't know why Rickard tries to sell Cordcoin. Can't he just pickpocket them. I doubt he cares about the cause.

http://Mhs6LD9.png

Marth could've seized the map on turn 6, but I'm not even close to the chests, so I gotta wait. Minerva uses this time to buy 3 silver axes and an absurd amount of vulneraries.

http://GdOX6H4.png

Aside from a few mage reinforcements, nothing really happens for the next three turns. Darros eventually gets a level up. Strength is nice.

http://wPV79jO.png

http://6B1nzxn.png

This was how turn 9 went. Most of the Cord Fan Club tried browsing subreddits while they were here, and Cain + Roshea went to the chest room with a master key to open the treasures. Of course, the main reason this took so long is because Gharnef blocked the bridge from the south east, and the northern section was filled with sand tiles (Cain wasn't originally heading that way).

http://fGfpbB5.png

Here's live footage of popular redditor Gharnef being trolled by Roshea.

Total Turn Count: 10

Spoiler

http://fGfpbB5.png

Definitely wasted turns with the chests, but they were stat boosters, so it was worth it. If I didn't block the bridge or maybe sent Minerva East with the keys, this would've been shorter. At least we got to the see mighty Gharnef. Sometimes I unironically like him as a villain. Other times, I just laugh at his antics. What a funny man.

Dolph was responsible for the murder of Macellan.

His speed base is absurdly high for a level 4 fighter. He only needs 1 more speed to double a cav. I've used fighter Dolph before, so I think I can safely say that he'll be a decent unit to have. He's like an Est. He shows up about halfway in the game with mostly unimpressive base stats, but has good growths and high speed. His only real flaw is E rank axes. Honestly, he'll probably surpass Bord by 2 chapters.

Armours in SD are hilarious when reclassing entirely because they suddenly have speed.

Why would you recommend this..... What the Belhalla am I looking at? His growths aren't even good. E rank lances! Even Vyland is better than this! At least he's on chapter 5 with a a lance rank. Oh I get it. You felt bad for Bord, so you throw in Tomas to make him look better. That's nice, but not for me. Marty dammit...

Tomas was responsible for making Othello murder his wife.

Matthis is probably my 2nd best unit. Darros slays, but Matthis is always on the front lines doing heavy damage with his sliver lance, horseslayer, and super high defense. If I get a second speedwing, it's definitely going to him...probably....maybe....unlikely. SpeeDarros.

So is he A lances yet?

Also, why is Matthis this fast?

Cord responds with "Who da hell's gunna stop me from having three?" Darros replies "Thanks boss, but...I'm so close. My own quest is almost over. I want to reach it on my own. Only then will I truly deserve to hold that title." Cord chuckles, letting him know that he'll wait until then, proud of his determination. Right after this, they are ambushed by fliers, but they use that as more time to gain non existent support ranking.

The Darros character arc is an unexpected highlight. I never thought he'd be impressive before promotion, and yet here we are.

You asked earlier if Wolf is good in heroes. I haven't built him yet, but he looks pretty neat. He's got a special bow that lets him make his follow-up attack before the enemy can counter.

Chapter 16: Evil Cord Castle be like "We pay taxes"

After 2 pointless chapters of traveling back to his home, Cord finally sees Cord Castle in the distance. Feeling rather homesick after all that crypto business, Cord relishes the idea of sitting back in his throne, counting his money and placing it in a bag and using it to beat the crap out of tax collectors.

Spoiler

http://vrGMxQP.png

Wolf's bow is about to break, so I make a new one. 12 might gives him just enough might to OHKO the wyverns. It wasn't used at all.

http://Ul2ildK.png

Cord runs downwards to the Cord Bunker while Cain follows. The place is locked and is holding a prisoner, which pisses Cord off, as the Cord Bunker is supposed to be his downtime room to vibe in. Being a king is stressful ok?

http://CzFHPlv.png

Marth and everyone else head west to take the longer route there, making sure to check on the citizens of Cord Castle to make sure that they aren't planning to revolt again. Minerva sees fellow wyvern riders and challenges them to a duel to see who's the top flier. I wonder if any of them actually care.

http://779RoTb.png

They don't..... Well one did, but she did call him a spineless ****

Cord dodges both wyverns. Don't know what the odds were, but I'm going to pretend it's 99.

http://ouQNvEz.png

At last. After weeks of traveling with a broken leg and suffering from constant bullying for being a nerdy mage, he has mastered the art of geekery: The Excalibur tome. "Who's laughing now?"

http://mKc0haf.png

Cain's high speed growth is definitely pulling through. If only his base speed didn't suck so much. Man still has some more to go before he reliably doubles. Daily reminder that SpeeDarros is more important than any other unit doubling.

http://oiy21zc.png

Cord deals some chip damage to the wyvern rider. He could've silver axe'd him then have Minerva javelin the guy, but I wanted the wyvern exp to go to someone else.

http://JrW16pn.png

Wolf weakens up the top flier for Rickard and hoo boy was it worth it. Maybe he'll actually become a mediocre unit.

http://x67iIHN.png

That wyvern left alive from Cord tries to attack Rickard. He was healed by fortify so I couldn't enemy phase him, but the heal wasn't enough to save his life. The cleric must feel so guilty.

http://EOSa1lQ.png

Marth visits the right village to visit his father, Samson. He never gave much information about his past, but Marth wasn't one to dwell on the that anyways. He simply knew that his father was a brave fighter and was the best friend of king Barst. After a long and boring retelling of Marth's journey to make Cordcoin the thing that saves Cord Castle, Samson chuckles, finding Cord's method to re-establish Altea's economy to be rather funny. While Samson was no longer a fighter, he still wanted to at least see his son overtake the castle again for his lord, eventually taking up time to shop in the market for him while's too busy beating up cavs.

http://Hb9Q8Bf.png

At the end of turn 3, Cord opens the door only to be greeted by a gamer who screeched at the light that pierced into the bunker. There was a 2nd one with a Levin sword that almost killed Cord. Pretty sure that any other unit wouldn't have lived. Tough room.

http://CjBU6sH.png

Cain's plan worked perfectly. He told Cord to have a steel axe ready over a silver axe because the healer is a lazy brat who only heals when people are under half of their HP. Now the Hero is just weak enough to get killed by the wind.

http://7a2CiDe.png

There's a thief that tried to take down the other village, but letting him do so would create a paradox, as Arran is still needed for the sequel. Tomas pokes him with his lance until he runs away crying and gets a great level up. He must be very motivated by Matthis to be a good cav.

http://7Yy8m7F.png

On turn 5, Cain and Cord take out the other gamer.

http://JJw0kVC.png

Cain is becoming one with the wind.

http://YFRlr7Y.png

There were some cavs that tried to ambush Marth from the south,  but I had a plan ready. I used a save point. Now I don't need to do the math to fin out whether Marth would actually survive this encounter. He survived easily and Matthis baits the regular cav.

http://SpSNtKK.png

Tomas starts shoves the regular cav to the ocean, and Matthis suplexes the Horseman towards the ocean.

http://m7RZ6F7.png

This isn't luck. It's the reward for believing in Matthis.

http://m557shQ.png

How do you run out of crypto to carry?

http://nIWkZGz.png

Meanwhile, Cord, nerd, and gamer head out the secret exit of the bunker on turn 7, only to be greeted by the three amigops.

http://s81ZdES.png

There was a a general approaching. I tried baiting him with Matthis, but they went to Marth because of that enticing Cordcoin he kept hearing about. Just how high is the value? After all, it only goes up.

http://6YHFB7q.png

This is what she lives for.

http://syfhbrF.png

This is what I live for.

http://VXmec7I.png

His speed has finally let let double someone who isn't armored or weighed down. Cain's honestly really good as a mage, at least compared to the rest of my current army. Ahh what am I saying? Matthis and Darros are objectively good.

http://SCCU51r.png

Here's Matthis at the moment. I forgot when he reached A rank, but him being my only high rank lance user makes him a solid silver lance user. No one else is using them, so there's no punishment for hoarding. He was given the silver card to shop, but he gave it to Samson. Matthis doesn't want to be seen shopping. Only killing.

http://tu16Pfi.png

By turn 10, most of the Cord Fan Club has caught up with each other, right outside of the castle's gates. Most units ready themselves for the enemy's last charge, but Marth takes no time to wait, charging straight into the promoted cavalry to murder the General who dared soil this land. Almost afraid of Marth, most enemies go for Cord.

http://X3e9T04.png

Can't all be winners.

http://OuxylOx.png

Oh yeah. Hardin's here. Yeah he's been ignored quite a lot. It's honestly getting to him. Even Roshea contributed more in battle. It didn't help that Rickard stole his kill.

http://aj12pL2.png

By the time he reliably doubles, the enemies will probably all promote, making him not double anymore. That'd be funny.

http://NQZdpck.png

http://Iqba2Ks.png

Marth attacked a paladin with a rapier, but he lived, so Tomas took them out in the same away I'll take him out if he gets another level like that.

Marth planned to run to the boss, but he spots a clown running right to him, causing Marth to freeze in place from fear for a turn.

http://9U1wmA1.png

Ok screw you too. I'll just wait a whole game to find out.

http://nZSKKV5.png

On turn 12, Marth confronts the General responsible for capturing the command post.

http://1yOSvkJ.png

What a cheater. Relying on critical hits to win. A true warrior would never use criticals to-

http://sTec8zr.png

Marth lands a critical hit to kill the boss. What the hell is with all the hype for Camus? Who is this guy anyways? Reinhardt's brother? Can't be stronger than SpeeDarros.

While I could've seized on the next turn, I chose to wait a turn to let the turn 11 reinforcements from behind start catching up. I really want Caesar to get a level before I leave.

http://rgYzns5.png

3 damage...great.

http://I2vv8E3.png

Caesar is going to promote with Roshea's magic stat, isn't he?

Total Turn Count: 14

Spoiler

http://UPYB4NZ.png

If Marth went East, the map would've been shorter, but I wasn't about to let my boys Arran and Samson down. Choosing the silver axe did slow Marth down a bit, but I waited til turn 14 to get just a bit of xp anyways. I didn't want to, but Caesar is actually going to be worthless if he doesn't level up asap. Rickard's catching up, while Hardin's catching the flu. Dolph has sadly not fought anyone. I've been too busy feeding kills to Rickard and Tomas really.

Sorry for the late post btw. I'm having a hard time with school right now. I might start posting every other day for a little while, at least on Monday-Thursday.

Dolph has been getting the Kellam treatment. Not even 1 level up. Even in this chapter, I couldn't give him a single level. At least Tomas has 9 move. I've also been way too focused on giving Rickard kills, since he gets OHKO'd by promoted silver users which will be plentiful in chapter 20. I have to dedicate a chapter to him soon.

His speed is enough to make him pretty good. I've been 1RKO'ing guys with Cain with elfire, bolgonone, and Excalibur. Magic growth matters in New Mystery, but you can get by with pretty low magic in Shadow Dragon with good speed and forges...unless it's Caesar magic.

Chapter 17: Get Ready for...

What do I say here? It's just the last chapter, but indoors. Nothing to add. If this was Radiant Dawn, this would be Chapter 16 part 2. Go Cord.

Spoiler

http://oGcTQpN.png

This is clearly a statement about the IRS and the assassination of King Barst. Damn you dragon man.

http://2bHHF99.png

This can easily be one of the shortest chapters, since they did a pretty crappy job fortifying their defenses in the throne room that's right next to the entrance. I also just realized why Cord Castle was taken over so easily. Any store bought door key opens the castle's door. Cord gets barrier'd and Marth gets the attention of the swarm user on the top of the room. Cain has a bolgonone to weaken the bishop, since killing them with Excalibur would get his leg broken again from the sniper.

http://nByPTNX.png

http://OUn21Wq.png

Imagine being the boss of this map. Cord arrives, immediately kicks the door open, and charges right through your setup of mages and armor knights. It's only turn 2, and he's right in front of you. He literally crushed the mage who tried to burn him alive with his bare hands. Just surrender man.

http://SjdKdOf.png

Meanwhile, Minerva leads team B of the Cord Fan Club, rushing to the the chest room to stop the thieves from becoming the next main villains of a different game.

She once again urges one of them to take her Cordcoin away. They get really uncomfortable and try to walk away, but one of them slips on a banana and dies.

http://U3g5ZXt.png

Cain sets up a very easy kill for someone, but he still gets a level up from the chip.

http://UAiMc7k.png

I wonder what are the average stats for a level 18 Merric?

http://mdjNZkV.png

No one wants to take on the dragon. He 1RKO's everyone. If only General Sedgar was still alive. Sadly, he died trying to protect Hardin in chapter 5 prior to Cord's arrival.

http://ZOWJmDu.png

Dolph finally experiences the thrill of murdering another person 5 chapters after his join time. I can't believe I used Rickard to set up a kill.

http://jhyWQC5.png

After the Hero gets his pride destroyed from losing a Tekken match to Minerva, Darros ends his suffering by shooting his eyes. With him and the armor guy out of the way, Matthis blocks the exit from the chest room, forcing the thieves to try getting through his silver lance just to survive, smiling as he always does without a care for the things they stole.

http://Nte6TDM.png

His apprentice, Tomas, continues his training by trying to get as many kills as he can during Cord's assault. He learns to take joy and pride in staining his specially crafted lance, glorifying the kill count to his name increasing. As of now, he is still relatively hesitating to snuff the life out of screaming enemies, but he can't let Matthis down.

http://946087j.png

Oh come on Matthis, those thieves would've made for great Dolph xp! Ah well. Maybe I'll reach @Saint Rubenio tier Matthis.

http://feqlsvd.png

Imagine thinking Grafcalibur is the best (non holy blood) wind tome. Locked to one unit...bah. Excalibur is the OG strong tome, and Cain is its worthy wielder.

http://IccBo4D.png

Two armor javelins could kill Cain, so Roshea tries to get the armor dude's attention. Marth tells Cord that he'll take on the Dragon, since he's the one with a wyvernslayer. Why does he have one? He's violently racist to dragons.

http://Ue57i3T.png

A sniper tries to stop Matthis on turn 4, but Minerva had a plan ready. Corner the sniper and bully him on all his insecurities. Rickard was never too good with words though, so he tried to shank him. He was stopped though. It wasn't part of the plan after all.

Minerva didn't like that

Mathis liked that

http://wK4OEnk.png

This scene would've looked cool in the Fire Emblem anime. Imagine Gordin just constantly commenting on each action Marth takes.

http://lSZZpHk.png

I don't have time to chip the sniper with Rickard, since there's a crazy amount of chests to loot. Why am I even looting it? It's Cord Castle's stuff! Just let me take it at the end of the chapter! Well, Darros uses that opportunity to get a level up from chip.

http://3QQk5Bn.png

Get ready for...

http://EF5vJKW.png

Minerva went really hard on the sniper. He was crying. Very disturbed by this, Rickard tries to kill the sniper to end his suffering. Of course, RIckard forgot that stabbing someone in the leg won't result in a punctured organ. That just makes you early game Cain. Somehow, this learning experience gave him defense.

http://ktRSnWI.png

At last, after all this time, Dolph will finally get a level up. He will make his first step forward into becoming a part of history, becoming a memory that will never truly die as long as Archenea breathes.

http://UmcKIUF.png

Yeah he missed. Do your thing Caesar.

http://jtMXN0R.png

It's only hit me now that I'm using a unit with 3 magic in chapter 17 in a fire emblem game. This PMU is something else.

http://WtP0du0.png

Some of you guys have no idea how satisfying it feels to have Matthis OHKO enemies without a slaying weapon.

http://IBtkqX3.png

I hear "Matthis moment" a lot in the youtube side of the FE community. I'm guessing this is what they're referring to.

http://Tj1cSlC.png

How does an arrow hurt an armor knight anyhow?

http://B2t7l7O.png

No speed, but +2 strength. Hoepfully he'll get a lot of kills in the Macedon arc with his forged steel bow.

http://un3ZRwW.png

Just keep getting that lance rank up buddy.

http://2Gnl6da.png

9 Strength. 9 Defense. 9 Speed.

http://JU71WLh.png

Marth defeats the dragon and levels up. If you're wondering where the screenshot for the kill and boss stats are, they had to be removed, as Marth's prejudice led him to splatter his guts everywhere. Tomas watched in horror, eventually puking in the river. The man tore his eyes out and stomped them repeatedly. Cord said nothing, but he seemed to be sad at seeing this, not angry or disgusted. It almost felt like pity for Marth.

http://7kXzKgU.png

While Marth causes my copy of Shadow Dragon to have an A rating on the ERSB scale, Rickard opens all of the chests.

Instead of seizing right after, I have Cord run to the manakete for some last exp. I can't just let it roam around Cord Castle. He might eat our money.

http://6WCPEpd.png

This chapter is weird. I could've seized on turn 7, and I could've killed the boss much faster if I went all in on him, but I needed the treasure and extra exp. I want some decent turn counts, but I'm not aiming to get a high rank...if this game actually had that.

Don't mind the single enemy on the map. He's just our local drug dealer.

Cord Castle is finally saved. Not only from the clutches of Dolhr, but of it's lack of influence in the economy of Archenea. Cordcoin is a phenomena. Everyone is using it. The value is only going up. And Cord has earned an incredible amount of wealth to his country's name. He walks out of the castle only find everyone cheering for him. He was no longer just the retainer of Barst, but a true king to his non-taxpaying citizens. Cord felt very prideful to see that efforts have not gone in vain. However, he didn't feel like everything was over. Sure, they're rich now, but what's stopping the IRS from taking away everything this country has worked hard to make a name for? He COULD pay the taxes now, but the cycle would still continue. Cordcoin by itself won't be enough to stop the rich from profiting over the working class, his people. No. This isn't what Barst would've wanted. So Cord decides to try doing the impossible. Defeat the IRS.

It was at this moment, that Cord accepts his true role as a king. As a hero to his kingdom.

Spoiler

http://ftydZeT.png

He would devote his life to stopping taxation, even if he dies in the process. He would become the savior of Archenea, or die trying.

Cord asks his army to join him for one last battle. A battle that will impact the rest of the continent. He understood if anyone wished to stand down, but was surprised to find out everyone was willing to join in on this grand scale war. Why? It's pretty simple. Everyone hates taxes.

http://Vpqf4mb.png

At last. Darros's quest has reached its conclusion.

SpeeDarros.

They said it couldn't be done. He was laughed at by his fellow pirates for how slow he was. He was speedshamed. The pirate life was the only way he knew how to live, but he became tired of being a guard for the ships, rarely allowed to join in on raids. He felt like an outcast, like a tool to them. So, he set out on a journey to prove them wrong. We have witnessed his growth, and now see the rewards of his efforts. SpeeDarros is real. And now he has gotten a new quest. He wanted to serve Cord. To fight for his cause. To leave an impact to the world. He'll always be grateful for all the great memories he had as a pirate, but the new ones he gained with this army felt truly speical. He will use his speed as Cord's 3rd retainer.

SpeeDarros is real. You just have to believe.

With how many axe users you already have, I suppose it's not surprising that Dolph would get shafted.

They might've killed Kennedy over that, so best of luck to him. I was going to make a joke about shooting himself in the back of the head three times, but you can kind of do that with the Devil Axe.

At this point, Bord has already been shafted. Haven't used in a long while. Gonna try to get some Dolph Emblem going on in the next few chapters. Poor Bord.

Chapter 18: The Sable Tax Collectors

Cord waits for the tax collectors at Big Bridge. Once they arrive, Cord starts the assault on them, marking the beginning of the war against the IRS. Thankfully, the Sable Tax Collectors that arrived consisted mostly of its weaker forces, since Altea was considered to be too weak to even consider a rebellion in their state of losing their previous king. It's time for Cord Castle to make a stand.

Spoiler

http://QQcy2hF.png

Aye. There they be. In all of their cavalry glory, just waiting to get fed to horse slaying weapons. Not exactly the best class to be in as an enemy.

http://WQtoTd0.png

This will show those thieves not to take from Cord Castle. I was hesitant to spend nearly all my gold, but there is a hammerne staff in chapter 20 so this will hopefully be a worthy investment that lasts the rest of the game.

http://pQ2x5zY.png

The Sable Tax Collectors ride through Big Bridge towards Cord to take his hard earned money. That's a lot of enemies, but I suppose these guys are supposed to be a big threat in the story.

http://oEJxhUq.png

Turn 1 was just walking, but turn 2 had Marth, Cord, and Matthis take up the front lines. Unsurprisingly, Matthis chooses to go all in. He's lost the fear of death long ago.

http://5iDKecC.png

Marth is no longer a beast like before. I tried putting him one tile lower, but he died. Guess he's falling off to SpeeDarros.

http://LKrRwvh.png

Matthis OHKO's a paladin. Yeah, I think we're good for the Camus fight.

http://L6PlQry.png

This turn (3) had a LOT of cavs to deal with. Luckily, SpeeDarros comes in clutch (as always) to clear a path for the rest of my squad.

http://93adqV7.png
"Hello there fine gentleman! You came just in time to receive a rare deal for Cordcoi-wait...you're...oh. Whoops. Sorry, gotta die"

http://LYrGfo3.png

See? I care about Dolph. He's cool. Not Hardin though. Come back to me when you become a General.

http://Uf8ugSf.png

Chad growths

http://u8rdpGW.png

Well I can't NOT go for this hit.

http://V4xWgcZ.png

Good thing Matthis just deletes the bigger threats.

http://BpXF0Cm.png

Cool. A luck level up! I needed that.

http://AgYKNoW.png

Cord baited out some promoted tax collectors, and Dolph once again gets some sweet xp...right after Minerva kicked them repeatedly to feel better about her tax paying self.

http://LUVURuZ.png

Wow I regret not feeding him more kills early on. It'll take a LOT of more level ups like that to catch up to the promoted enemies, but he'll get there.

http://nAbyfeh.png

After some chip damage and a save circle ritual, I get Tomas a level up (I maaay have tried a Devil Axe Wolf that backfired).

http://l4bL5gi.png

Strength is nice, but he needs speed. He is getting doubled by everything when the late game arrives.

http://xVXS2Di.png

On turn 5, Wolf gets a critical hit on a dirty tax collector, and Cain sets up a kill for Caesar, as he is the only person who doesn't bully him for loving books.

http://J8gE6Ep.png

Silly Caesar. You can't be a good unit.

http://2le6COM.png

Are you happy to see Tomas get this many kills?

http://xM92l2h.png

By turn 7, the Sable Tax Collectors of this area have been routed, and Cord is already in range of claiming victory of the first battle of this war. However...

http://tgXvn32.png

Some loser showed up at the corner of the place and kept yelling out "Marth". Marth tried to ignore that and have an honorable duel with the boss, but Cord was just mad that she ruined the vibe.

http://bTtaacU.png

Tough punches, but I get a level.

http://OHO5WRA.png

Marth do be kinda falling off doh. Still good, but not great. Guess he's my Jagen of the PMU.

http://ouPtMEO.png

Est catches up with Marth on the enemy phase of turn 8, and then she goes on about how she's his biggest fan. Something about amiibos, plushies, and the 30th anniversary collection, but this just grosses him out. Who even made those?

http://4S1u5WD.png

Right as Marth considers disemboweling himself, Est gives him a present. The mighty Mercurius, used as his personal weapon in FE1, whatever the hell an FE1 is.

http://heQx8Cp.png

Her loud fangirling woke up some residents of Big Bridge, forcing the rest of the army who was chillin to fend them off.

http://m4vxXLt.png

I used the 2nd unholy blue circle to make sure this turn doesn't go terribly wrong, which it did. Twice. Wolf just can't use the Devil Axe like Bord can.

http://WEQPXkz.png

My man!

http://XZebFYX.png

I really want to see Tomas be good, but his base stats and join time make this feel like a pointless endeavor. Please prove me wrong.

http://B6BDVLa.png

Nice. Do me a favor and get that 5 more times, and reach C rank lances.

http://ZqZ8jUt.png

Dolph is REALLY motived to help out once we began this war. You see, the IRS was responsible for the murder of his parents, and Macellan, in blind rage, tried taking his frustration out on Dolph, which led to Dolph killing him in self defense.

http://CSOZHad.png

Holy hell his growths. I've used him before, and it was pretty much the same thing. Man, Dolph can be meta if you get him levels early on. Easiest method is chip damage on chapter 13, but I wasn't doing that in the PMU.

http://NaGkttF.png

Now that Est's shenanigans are over, he can take out the boss for real this time.

http://aNGJG0P.png

More Master Seals. I like how his stats are basically jus the average stats of chapter 20 paladins.

Total Turn Count: 10

Spoiler

http://1nrgo6g.png

If it wasn't for Est, I could've beaten this on turn 7. Imagine if I seized anyways. Would she have just stayed there like "oh..."?

Waiting on her though did give me time to fight a pair of reinforcements, so that was worth it. I could've technically waited until turn 16 to get all the promoted enemies to fight and give xp to Dolph and Tomas, but a part of the challenge is to balance training PMU units and getting a turn count that won't burn the eyes of elitists.

There might be less jokes from this point onwards. Maps get more challenging. Characters feel much more serious about the cause. Tax thresholds are going up and down like a malfunctioned rollercoaster. It's the big boi arc, and I can't screw around if I want everyone to live long enough to witness a tax free land.

Arrested for killing someone in self-defense? Parents murdered by the IRS? This really is a libertarian's personal hell. Truly a place worth fighting to liberate from taxes.

Dolph and Tomas are showing a lot of potential at least, and so is Wolf. So that's exciting.

It's quite the sad story really. No one wins, except the companies that sold these. Without her sisters, nothing is stopping her gullible self from falling for every marketing scheme.

Chapter 19: The Sphere Treasure Hunt

After crossing Big Bridge, Cord and his army march towards the Fane of Raman in Chiasmir, aiming to gain the resources necessary to win this war through the priceless treasures that lay in this sacred place that we are about to desecrate for personal gain. You call it morally questionable. I call it gaming.

Spoiler

http://C4IScnP.png

About the Mercurius...she sold her Pegasus for it. To be fair, the wording was unclear in the payment contract. Pelleas messed up. So can she.

http://9b6m6tE.png

I used up the last of my money to forge a javelin. It was needed to get Tomas to kill a defeat a merc that Matthis plans to weaken on turn 1.

http://FmISauX.png

After encountering the Sable Order, Darros realizes that he needs more than just speed to protect Cord. He takes up the armor that he originally used to guard the pirtate ships, and assumes his position as a guardian once more, but now as SpeeDarros.

http://fogSJDL.png

Oh my god, Gharnef is gaslighting a young dragon girl. I know you're king of reddit island, but come on! This is too much IS!

I did not account for this scene when making up Gharnef's character. I regret my actions.

http://JA2UIxX.png

0 res enemies is always a treat. Don't skip school guys.

http://vJXJhi7.png

Cain is definitely going to need more magic to rid the world of Gharnef the degenerate. He couldn't stand the idea that people like him were plaguing this land. He finally has purpose.

http://bSaTIuF.png

Caesar does a thing.

http://OvnKU7c.png

Turns out I didn't need to forge the lance on this run. Stat randomizing. Now I feel stupid.

http://2ckPbvy.png

Matthis is in range is a Hero and Tomas is going to get beaten up badly by a merc. So, Minerva rushes ahead to a tile above SpeeDarros to show Tomas how it's really done.

Unfortunately, Tomas was too busy admiring Matthis to notice. This hurt her fragile superiority complex quite a bit.

http://qocsakn.png

Minerva takes out her frustrated embarrassment on this merc, attacking him three times in a row and, cause Darros and Tomas to freeze up in fear. She slammed the corpse against the wall several times while it was still impaled. What happened to her trying to be "cool"? Now's she's just being edgy, even if unintentional.

http://RQCfQeo.png

Well she got some gains from that. Now she just needs therapy.

http://3RoC46x.png

I wanted to give the kill to Dolph, but the weapon triangle weakness screws him up. This will not be his map for level ups. Too many swordies.

http://Q5E3VrC.png

What's your magic growth? 7!? Damn you bootleg Radd.

http://vmP5KPr.png

This is a promoted enemy hurting him by the way. Matthis truly is the Progenitor God. Man just ran up to the top on turn two like a chad. Nothing stops this man.

http://L9Wzc6A.png

The good thing about using a javelin over a sliver lance is that they barely don't take enough damage to get healed. The thief also opens a door which made a revealed mage attack him. Intelligent Systems made a subtle nod to Schrödinger's cat here. The mage didn't really exist until the door was opened. If it wasn't they wouldn't have attacked me, despite technically being there, or are they? Good game design.

http://4ioMgm1.png

Well this is a bit of a sticky situation. Ah he'll be fine.

http://APFgJtK.png

There's many reasons why people love Fire Emblem. Dealing just enough damage to OHKO someone is one of them. At least it should be.

http://8FRTQRo.png

Cord kills the first hero and Minerva glares at the other one, drastically weakening his defense and attention, letting Tomas go in for the suprise kill, which deals 11595 damage according to Undertale. Ok.

http://5zI3ttI.png

Strength is good, but you will get doubled and 1RKO'd without more speed levels. Please, don't let my investment go down the drain. I'll be mocked endlessly by my competitors.

http://G2UOLIU.png

Matthis snipes the dying mage with his javelin and reminded me once more of why unit tier lists are a scam made to manipulate others into using boring units so they can have Matthis all to themselves.

http://LKYUOno.png

That's one fortify down.

http://ySLYPIh.png

Matthis once again prepares a victim for his apprentice, certain that he holds hidden potential.

http://YuI5RO2.png

Cord tries to kill the thief running off with one of the spheres on turn 4, but misses one of his hits. Still got a level up.

http://9JiuB1O.png

The next few turns didn't have much to offer. Marth and Julian opened some chests, everyone ran upwards, and a single thief here was blocked by Tomas and Cain. He tried to run away, but Cain fried his legs with Thoron. Rather than immediately take him out, Tomas waited for someone to use the unholy blue circle to ensure that his training would not fail him (I really needed a speed level up so I wanted to make this level up not garbage. I waited from turn 5 to 7 before actually game-ending the thief, but then I kept forgetting that Cain is standing on the spot, so I eventually just went ahead and took the shot before the save. I made a previous one on turn 4 anyways.

http://suTttUE.png

Cain wouldn't stop electrocuting him. This is 100% torture. The healers should've let him die.

http://Z6frT9z.png

I reset twice for this. First was just HP, and the 2nd was HP and luck. I don't mind mediocre levels, but I just bring myself to accept an HP up on a unit who had the worst bases I've ever seen on a midgame unit (that isn't an Est).

http://IjiEpow.png

Minerva baited one of the mages on turn 5, and now it's Caesar's turn. He can't make himself look bad now. It'd be an embarrassment to his name!

http://vX5hhgv.png

It took two turns, and some trading with the forge tome between Roshea and himself, but I did get him to pull his weight. Now he won't get bullied this time after the chapter.

http://ehHEHti.png

Bantu seemed to have arrived on his own just in time to rescue Tiki from being slain by Cord's army. He tells Minerva (who was the closest to her) about how she's been gaslit into seeing everyone else as the enemy, and should thus not be held accountable for her actions. Minerva responded with "Screw you old man, you can't tell me what to do!" and proceeded to attack her. This caused Tiki to transform into a divine dragon, protecting her from most physical harm. Luckily, Minerva is still gaining weapon rank from this.

http://uZLa53N.png

Tomas joins on this, much to Bantu's dismay. He hopes to impress Matthis by slaying a divine dragon, but his javelins can't pierce through the hardened dragonskin.

Eventually, he gave up on that and just slaughtered the healers. By turn 17, he got another level up, and got to C rank in lances (this is what I really wanted).

http://WEWhRX6.png

To all Tomas fans: You're welcome. Tomanslaughter incoming.

http://PpJTBGx.png

Caesar did some chip damage to the healer to reach level 10. Honestly, this guy is just screwed no matter what level ups he gets. He's never going to impress anyone. I'm sorry Caesar. You just have to accept it. You're not a fighter man.

http://UdRuIxh.png

Now THIS is a fighter. Darros was weakening a sniper while everyone else was playing pin the lance on the dragon girl, and he got a bow rank up from it. He's at B now. Man, getting A in bows is hard.

http://tuXKPPg.png

http://RZZScYu.png

Dolph got the kill on him, so he at least got 1 level up. He might have gotten the Hardin treatment this chapter, but I needed to dedicate this to Tomas. It's integral for the next chapter.

You might be thinking "Well what happened to Tiki? Did she live? Did Bantu talk some sense into her?" Well, you'll be happy to know that she survived the encounter, and it only costed Bantu's life. He had a heart attack seeing Minerva, Caesar, Tomas, and Cain all trying to kill her for 7 turns. They felt a bit too guilty after that to keep fighting. It's not like they were going to win anytime soon. So, they offer to have one of their nameless soldiers take her to the hopeless dragon orphanage that was set up by Anri in an Ice Palace. She'll be fine.

Total Turn Count: 17

Spoiler

http://cCAOr0h.png

Obviously, this could be MUCH faster. I used Marth to help Rickard open all of the chests. I even opened the doors with enemies. I get really angry seeing an unopened door before exiting the map. It was for the better that I scarified turns too, since Tomas got just enough hits in to get that sweet C rank right before Marth seized the throne. Hope you guys are excited for the last arc of the game. The late game is where SD finally gets a difficulty spike, so things will get much more tense. I mean, that's the perfect time for Tomas and Dolph to shine. Sorry Bord and Hardin. I've basically abandoned you. To be fair, Bord did help a lot in the early game with his devil axe, so he wasn't a waste of a pick for the PMU. I will treasure those Devil clutches for a good 10 minutes.

Oh right. About that, I'm pretty sure you have to bring 15 units to endgame, so you will see a crappy Berserker. Very crappy. I plan on using the chapter 23 secret shop to promote everyone for endgame, even if they're basically dropped. The team is split up after all, so I need all the stats I can get. Luckily, Hardin and Bord are at least level 10. Just don't expect much performance out of them. After all, this LP has basically become Cord, Darrros, and Matthis Emblem. I want to see those guys cap! Tomas would be a cool guy to see fully trained too. Not sure if Dolph and Est will get enough training in time though.

Oh well now I feel stupid. General Gordin would have trivialized this whole playthrough.

Chapter 20: Camus the Sable whose name I refuse to refer to as Ca-muu

Now having taken an abundance of treasure from the previous area, Cord's army now stands a chance against taking on the IRS, even if the odds of victory are slim. Cord knew that if he wanted to take down the IRS, he couldn't just take his time going from country to country, or to await for the next squad of the Sable Tax Collectors to arrive. He had to march straight into the root of their base, and they had to do it fast. They headed towards their base of soldiers to defeat the commander, hooping to put fear into the IRS.

SpeeDarros is never over.

That's right, we're going 20 speed General Darros.

http://o57YANF.png

Est needs a better bow to deal SOMETHING to the enemies. Honestly, I'll be lucky to even get her to level 10 by endgame.

http://yfiSCEV.png

Matthis breaks the ropes tying up the bridge with two clean javelin shots, allowing for SpeeDarros to take up the frontlines. Everyone else creates a very crappy formation in preparation for the squad of the Sable Tax Collectors approaching us from the west.

http://0mxw4ii.png

http://93Jvdz4.png

You know, if I gave all my speedwings to Mattis instead, he'd probably be capable of capping all his stats. Guess having SpeeDarros as my main is more original though.

http://WbamKqZ.png

Now you see why I focused so hard on training Tomas in the Tiki chapter. Sure I lost turns, but who can say no to Tomanslaughter?

http://gVXccUA.png

Matthis rushes west to take out the ballistas so Marth can get to that lone village without becoming the next Sir Daniel Fortesque. Cain gets his final level up as a nerdy mage boy.

http://7y8Ieyi.png

@Syndixel, I hope you're pleased with mage Cain. Surely, he holds Fjalar blood.

http://il0YFDV.png

There's a reason I haven't given SpeeDarros my energy drop yet. He'd do over half of their HP, making the healer use fortify. Only big brain moves allowed in this PMU. Why else would I be dumping 3 speedwings on Darros?

http://HuYgIzy.png

I set up a formation meant to prevent anyone from getting hit by both paladins. Tomas in particular is in danger, because of the ballistae at the top. Luckily, Cord is blocking Tomas from getting hit twice, so he should be fine.

He landed a critical on the first paladin and died to the 2nd. I was too disappointed to bother taking a screenshot. Fire Emblem.

http://J1mBG39.png

Back to square one. I don't remember if this set up was much different from the previous one. One noticiable difference was the very slight decrease in the paladin's HP or defense.

http://iHnFs5w.png

http://4ODZALy.png

Last time, Marth and Wolf were 1 HP away from cooking his horse for dinner.

http://Q0QnuFp.png

Thank Arvis he still got a good level up.

http://luXt0UI.png

Is the bow or the arrow silver? What determines the might of this bow? This is heavy armor. How does an arrow cut through that with such force?

Since SpeeDarros was no longer blocking the bridge, Cord takes charge and stands side by side with his new retainer, making sure to switch his bow with a lance to help him counter the upcoming elite tax collectors.

http://SNYXsr7.png

Off all targets they could've gone for, they choose the guy with the OHKO lance. Never judge a unit by their looks. Wait, what am I saying. That's exactly how you play Fire Emblem.

http://gO0sZ2j.png

On turn 3, we face off against the elite 3. Level 11 promoted cavs. With some help from Cain, Tomas strikes one of them down, gaining himself nearly a full level's worth of experience. The serotonin was skyrocketing.

http://7o8ACwq.png

Fire Emblem Tip: If a unit has green hair, they are OP. Alm, Palla, Lewyn, Gordin, Arden, Tomas, etc.

http://4aE3jSJ.png

Cord pokes the guy with their sword in an attempt to mock the IRS through killing their top soldiers in such a humiliating way.

http://ogjFcQe.png

Something tells me Dolph won't get another oppurtunity to get a kill for the rest of the stage. He literally got 100 xp for this kill.

http://9cO73Go.png

Defense is cool and all, but I'd like more strength. Something tells me this guy won't reach B rank in axes until I'm right at Medeus's doorstep.

http://UxXQP5Z.png

SpeeDarros time let's go! Literally doubling a level 11 paladin as a General. This one had 16 speed.

http://4zCF0oC.png

With enough levels, he'll reach 30 defense easily, but his strength is lacking. I noticed that he's been quite strength screwed throughout the game, relying heavily on forges. Hopefully, his 60% strength growths pulls through next chapter.

http://hKT3NBP.png

Damn...so close. I'll just use a sliver axe and get them next turn.

http://Qa8wiIk.png

Almost purely out of curiosity, Marth visits the village surrounded by ballistae. Apparently, this random house with very generic looking npc's houses the famous hammerne staff. Sure, why not?

They were forced to sell their daughter, Lena, to the IRS to make up for failing to pay taxes. They're under constant surveillance, as to ensure that no one attempts to escape and tell the world of the IRS's shady relationship with human trafficking. Marth receives the staff from their gratitude after finally being free from their clutches. Can't do anything about the daughter though. Maybe they'll have better luck next game.

http://L5Kty4c.png

At last. Cain has received his master's degree. He's no longer just a nerd. He's a nerd in crippling debt...but knows more trivia!

http://U52NtBH.png

Minerva begins flying back to where Cord is, but encounters a petty thief running down. Afraid that the wyvern rider will be the death of him, he tries to get a sneak attack on her to try staggering them and running at that moment. Instead, she stared right at him as the Devil Sword pierced her shoulder. The thief was later found with only 6 unbroken bones in his body.

http://rRuKCXQ.png

I hope that defense will be what prevents her from getting 2HKO'd.

http://4fHfLhC.png

By turn 6, Cord finally encounters the big Sable himself, Camus.

You know who ELSE can use the Gradivus...?

Camus was a man who became feared all around the continent. If the IRS wanted someone dead, or forced into complying no matter what, Camus would show up. If you see this man, you are screwed, either financially or physically. He never wanted to be the IRS's personal commanding tax enforcer, but he was promised that doing so would give him special permission to never have to pay taxes himself. After the countless of grief he caused others, he's lost almost all emotions, slowly becoming the puppet of the IRS. The closest he had ever come to regaining passion for anything was with his brief encounter with Nyna.

http://Nn4mLiF.png

Alas, he could not bring himself to let Nyna into his life, as he was too corrupted by the clutches of the IRS to deserve love. He knew that this was his time to die.

http://WKG5uhd.png

Marth finds the idea of loyalty to the end to be cringe. Camus challenges Cord to a one on one duel. If Cord cannot slay Camus, he doesn't even stand a chance against what is soon to come.

http://mvhO7Me.png

Minerva arrives just in time (turn 7) to hand Cord the Hauteclere. The mightiest axe versus the mightiest lance.

Nothing will stop Cord from winning this war.

http://gmfjQOo.png

With Camus gone, Marth orders the General to stand down.

I like how different this scene plays out in context to the PMU compared to the original.

Marth could've seized on turn 9, but I used up an extra turn to let Tomas get one last level.

Total Turn Count: 10

I forgot to take a screenshot. Whoops. I'll screenshot the results for the credits to show all turns though.

After all, this LP has basically become Cord, Darrros, and Matthis Emblem.

What a crew. Still hoping Est and Dolph will get to be cool too.

Oh well now I feel stupid. General Gordin would have trivialized this whole playthrough.

Thankfully(?) Gordin can't become a General in Shadow Dragon. It's kind of like the game was designed with knowledge of the Chapter 1 Gordin exploit and they made it so he wouldn't be so broken. He can't become a general or warrior, so he can only use his A bow rank as a Sniper. He also has really bad growths, so even with a bunch of levels, he won't be that powerful.

SpeeDarros is never over.

That's right, we're going 20 speed General Darros.

Only big brain moves allowed in this PMU. Why else would I be dumping 3 speedwings on Darros?

Truly you are an unparalleled strategic genius.

SpeeDarros time let's go! Literally doubling a level 11 paladin as a General. This one had 16 speed.

It's beautiful. Enough to bring a tear to my eye. With his 60% strength and defense growths, hopefully he'll fix up all his weak areas in addition to capping defense.

He landed a critical on the first paladin and died to the 2nd. I was too disappointed to bother taking a screenshot. Fire Emblem.

This is a definite Fire Emblem moment. Lost Navarre this way.

Real talk, I heard this story from a guy who dated a girl whose mother worked as an IRS agent. Found out some old lady was behind on her taxes, and gleefully went over the process of finding small inconsistencies in her accounts and ultimately getting her house taken away. Dang thing is shady, and $600 dollars ain't so far from constant surveillance.

Wait, so...did it backfire?

Kind of a funny thought, that the devil weapons can stab your enemy through the chest and still only damage yourself.

Well gee, I know tax collectors are lumped in with sinners, but that is a bit harsh- even if Camus did sell out his fellow man to avoid taxes instead of committing tax evasion the old-fashioned way like the rest of us.

Don't be loyal to an IRS that isn't loyal to you. Hard lessons from Cringe-moo.

There is no future for a country with an Internal Revenue Service.

Damn. I don't know what to say. Poor lady.

Truly, this is the saddest story in the franchise.

Chapter 21: Macedon, The Kindgom That Could Easily be Overtaken with a Handful of Snipers and Wind Mages

With the Sable Tax Collectors vanquished, Cord can safely traverse to the heart of the IRS without fear of his own kingdom being attacked for a while longer. In order to reach their capital though, his army needs to pass through the Macedon borders. Unsurprisingly, they are too stubborn to let us through. Similar to how Khaden turned out to just be Reddit Island, Macedon is basically a convention for gamers 24/7. Cord was seen as casual scum, so they told him to piss off. Not having time to go through an arc where we go through some tournament to earn our way in, he simply takes the violent approach.

Spoiler

http://pfyE5th.png

Defense could be better, but I'd say he's a solid unit. He won't be taking up much spotlight on endgame, but I'm proud that I'm making him decent enough to pull his own weight.

http://78ysH4Z.png

I didn't show this last chapter, but I promoted Caesar at level 10. He can use thoron, but his magic is nonexistent. Literally a heal bot. If this had zero focus on turn count, I'd spam to A rank in staves. Poor Caesar.

http://V1jSbi7.png

.....I forgot about that...

http://6a0C17Y.png

Marth worries for Minerva, since he imagines it must be painful for her to fight her own people after playing chapter 20 of Path of Radiance. Minerva assures Marth that unlike a certain other wyvern girl, she is a sigma girl boss who won't hesitate to slay them for straying down the path of based gaming. She continues talking like this for 2 minutes, and it's as cringey as it sounds, even though she thinks it's cool.

http://S5cNxOm.png

She's always dreamed of having an epic showdown with her brother Michalis, so she tells Marth to have everyone stand down when they get to him.

"I cannot allow my Nīsan to harm anyone else, nor will I let anyone else hurt him. He's mine!

http://OUM4H14.png

..........

http://Qqc3Ojb.png

There he is. La Pared. I gave him a dracosheild so he can become an immovable shield himself. Speed sucks, but that really just means he's the perfect unit to have set up kills with. Dolph will appreciate that very much.

http://1iuzhZT.png

I could've given him an energy drop to 1RKO the armor dude, but I want to share kills, and Darros is actually quite lacking in it at the moment.

http://bzoU6dd.png

Holy Dalsin this guy has abs of steel. Lances just clink off his chest.

http://K9hUEyd.png

http://kUppLRa.png

Considering how easy it is to OHKO wyvern riders, I'm really surprised that they haven't all died to a windstorm. Or Gordin.

http://AAkzcxH.png

This sniper wanted to save his brethren. He shoots right at Matthis with a critical shot using his family heirloom, the killer bow, but it doesn't make a scratch on him. No damage. Matthis gives a light chuckle before striking him critically in the eyes with the Gradivus.

http://i9DOIxk.png

Don't know why three cavaliers chose to run down. Matthis was technically in range of two of them, but I don't see why the third one ran down and not just all or none.

Cord easily could've suplex'd the Paladin gamer, but Dolph is itching to give them a good punch in the face.

http://73sC4DX.png

http://CW69GeF.png

You might have crazy growths, but you just won't ever be SpeeDarros man. Sorry pal.

http://l1RFHMy.png

http://DvzzkcD.png

http://YajEi6i.png

This turn really exemplifies the power of the PMU team. Pretty fun seeing these units used to strategize against a herd of promoted enemies.

http://bPiDvJu.png

Not enough people talk about Dolph. He's actually quite the fun unit to train. It's a great way to experience the silly aspects of Shadow Dragon.

http://JD8mqf7.png

Wow what a turn. Pretty tough, but manageable. Just take out one more gamer and-

http://Bh41rJN.png

damn it, Matthis just ran off to the frontlines again. Who's gonna stop this guy from PK Fire spamming Rickard?

http://44OuZWb.png

Bord you madman. You actually came in clutch!

http://j0slaBo.png

Something tells me defense won't save you from dying to that 8 speed. Oh well, you get a pass for today.

Not much to comment on for team left and right. SpeeDarros snipes a wyvern rider, and Minerva baits one while Cain and Est travel east.

http://uggrfdX.png

After getting roasted by Cain, the poor gaming rider gets launched off the stage of life from a smash attack by Dolph.

http://SZ16jr4.png

Good lad.

http://B7yqHDX.png

Marth gets into combat with a dracoknight. Seeing her hero in danger, Est picks up her bow and defeats them for him, basically stealing his kill. Surely killing a promoted enemy will get Marth interested.

http://hL2UCXs.png

That's...actually quite underwhelming.

http://jaowUXH.png

Even gamers benefit from Cordcoin.

http://rn60WRn.png

While Cord takes out a western dracoknight, Tomas impales the one in the center, right after being weakened by Rickard, who made him lose his defense/temper from starting an argument over pirating old Nintendo games.

http://ZdvJrqg.png

My biggest regret is not giving Rickard more levels. I really wanted him to be good. He can't contribute though, since most enemies OHKO him.

On turn 4, Matthis and Tomas gain a support rank together by slaughtering the maids of the boss.

http://rO4fNmn.png

Ok we get it Matthis.

http://OkIHbBQ.png

Ehh. I say leave the tanking to your mentor and focus on strength.

While I could've defeated the boss and seized on turn 4 or 5, I wanted at least one turn of reinforcements to get just a bit of extra xp. Minerva also needed at least until turn 5 to enter the secret shop.

http://2StO5ET.png

Look at these Macedons...using ambush spawns with high move to get the advantage. Where's the honor in that?

http://SRiapqr.png

Dedue is nothing compared to my boi.

http://1qnAlMN.png

Macedon has just been a field trip for Dolph. Funny, since Est is the one with the bow.

http://0jJOfPm.png

The trauma inflicted by the IRS has really motivated Dolph to become as strong as he can, so that he can kick their ***. We're rooting for ya.

http://jps0x7Q.png

Cord and a few others wipe out the remaining reinforcements. This leaves it up to SpeeDarros to game-end the boss.

http://5igPe94.png

There he is. Orridyon, or as he is known online, Billy Mitchell.

http://PAQGtiS.png

Congrats Darros. Now please get strength.

I really forgot to take sceenshots on turn 6. Guess it wasn't too important. The map was basically over. Also yes, I did use the secret shop. Didn't get the secret books though. Saving up for the 2nd shop.

Total Turn Count: 6

Spoiler

http://4ku2Vrh.png

Only one survivor remained here. They are to be the messenger that warns Michalis of their arrival, ordering him to stand down and let them cross through the land safely lest they wish to perish and have their country fall in a meaningless battle.

I basically traded 2 turns for a few extra level ups and a more convenient route to the secret shot. I'd say it's worth it.
