Well that's one, but I have 15 total units with 12 being the average limit. I need more space.

I might start to feel bad for the person who drafted Catria if we keep this up...

Wasn't Catria the only unit they drafted to? Probably good to start rotating units.

There it is.

The fact that you used it twice in a row gave me a good chuckle. Thanks.

'Ey, my pleasure.

But you need money for 3 Hopes' eventual DLC!

Do I, though?

Of all the people that could've used a rainbow potion, Catria used it because she needed 2 more to speed and defense. The defense was to survive the thief's pets. The speed was to fuel her drug addiction.

Wow dude, Warren's marriage really is screwed.

but speed motivated me to look for any possible way to clear them all out this turn.

"You can do it!"

I hope this unit is doing you justice SpeedsterUnkown.

I mean, it'd be kinda hard for him not, considering his has a gun.

Forge a silver bow and make it an RPG.

The scorpio sphere is to ensure that he doubles, reducing the odds of failing to kill by missing. Both of these spheres were initially held by Samto, who has the ability to 1RKO dragons with a wyvernslayer while holding them but Yubreakingbad decided to not be a good unit and required both of them

Very justice indeed. A lot of fun star shard shenanigans this update, it's a shame you lose it here. I kinda wish you didn't need it for the true ending- I skipped Starlight in my Shadow Dragon playthrough because I wanted unlimited Gradivus for my Barst. In hindsight, I don't there were enough maps left in the game to make that worthwhile.

11 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

I would question how Samto is suddenly gaining very good growths, but this was drafted by the same guy who gave me SpeeDarros, so there is presumably another force in play whenever they're involved.

Some people call me a lunatic. Others a mystic. Me personally, I think the results speak for themselves.

11 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

With the scorpio shard, Warren is able to double a fire mage. Now I would like someone to remind me whether enemy mages tend to be the faster or slower enemies of their games in other FE's. In this game, their class slows you down quite a bit, but they have the speed of a Rutger in 3 Houses, while your mages break their spine wielding any tome that isn't fire and are drastically slowed down.

I think they're pretty slow in the Tellius games, but I'm not entirely sure, and as established earlier those games are poop. That's a lie, FE10 is okay.

F-father!

What is it with armors being peoples' parents? Arran is Belf's father, and that's after Sheema was Marth's stepmo- oh no.

11 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

For those wanting to see Norne promote soon, don't get your hopes up. I don't have enough master seals for everyone, and there won't be more until chapter 16. I can't remember if I simply missed a master seal, or I have actually taken too many drafted units, in which I will place all the blame on you people, as I have been doing any time I die.

Alas, the struggle of using a focused army with no prepromotes. Everything gets near the level cap but you just don't have all the items you want. This is probably punishment for hanging around to kill enemies instead of warpskipping the chapters.

Out of jealously, he decided not to object when Nyna, who was also severely drunk, invited him to the bedroom. To quote her: "Hey Mars, hows about we go upstairs and show me that Falchion I've heard so much about?"."

Cord: "I did not need to hear that."

Gotoh: "Later she said: "YOWZA! Man, I wish we could spar every day like this. Hardin's a great guy, but his iron sword just doesn't cut it. Always needs repairs..."."

Cord: "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU QUOTING THINGS NOW!?"

Marth: "...I should've just killed Roger."

Gotoh: "It is a rather sad tale, to have your sparring partner enjoy training with the man you were the most jealous of, and to hide this information from them. It is truly saddening."

Cord: "Wait. Are we- are we not talking about...you know."

Gotoh: "What? Oh, OH. WHAT!? NOOO! What's wrong with you!? They just had a duel upstairs! She wanted to see the falchion in action! Marth was a much more experienced fighter! Euuugh, you're gross."

She's so boring. It hurts to see everyone use her. Why can't people be based like me and bench her every time? I have played this game for years, and not once have I used her. Not once!

I wish I could say the same, but I was pretty boring when getting into the series. But once I was like 3 runs in this game, I basically stopped using her entirely, until my ironman where I really wanted to win. The game got a bit boring. Wow, she sucks. Sucks because she's good...

Warren strikes me as the kind of guy who would main Medic. He's awesome like that.

I don't know enough about this genre to comment on it, but I wish I could. I thought healer mains were hated with these kinds of games.

Yes. All of the yes. It's not even like they're bad characters, Belf's support with Sirius is among the best in the game. But people don't care if you appear in less than three games, it seems.

Dude, I remember getting their support. I didn't know much, but I have heard very small rumors about it being a decent support. It felt great. It was a very memorable moment of feeling rewarded for using a unit most people don't acknowledge. It might have been the main push to make me appreciate these kinds of characters. Well, I've always enjoyed meme units, but I'm referring to it in a more unironic sense.

I actually meant to say skill. I wouldn't actually complain about not capping skill this early as a general. His current strength and defense do more than make up for it. But it is annoying that horseslayers and dragonpikes are very inaccurate with this guy.

Probably gonna rotate between Warren and Samto. Catria will be helpful on chapter 15, 17, and 19. She's not needed for the others. Since units like Astram, Sheema, and Frost join so late, they basically can't be undeployed or the amount that they contribute will be unjustly low. I also think it's a good idea to frequently undeploy the AU, since he doesn't really benefit from level ups, and Yubello is doing more than well enough as the berserker of the team even if I really don't want Ruben to know that.

Curse you! That sounds too amazing to pass up on, but it sounds so expensive, and I want to buy stat boosters for Bantu! Also, Samto can't use silver bows yet. I prefer saving arms scrolls for other units. Mainly Frost. I think he has D in magic. How else is he supposed to use Excalibur?

I swear, every time man. I lent the Tellius games to a friend once, and even they thought PoR was much better. Does PoR have Meg? No. It does have Brom though, so it gets some points.

I do end up using the rainbow potion when starting the chapter (mainly for skill and luck), but I really wanted to point out how he reached 20 without it. Glad someone caught on that. But yeah, I was so certain that it was exclusive to Tiki. Like, I don't think I just imagined that. Was that just misinformation that was spread out? I'm not complaining. Bantu's got more variety now, and I'm all for it.

Wow. I did not know this. I only got into the community recently. I'm glad things are getting better. Now we just need to prove that our obscure characters we use are based, and that Cord is severely underrated.

I could go on about how Leif starting off as a bad unit is actually really good design in the context of the game and it's story and world, but not right now. All I'll say is that Leif is bad in a good way, while Roy is mostly just bad. Sure, he's like 15 and not that experienced, but a lot of the cast are young, and Roy doesn't really do much with the concept of being inexperienced.

Chapter 15: It's A Reused Map, But That's Okay Because it's Well Made And This is All Part of the Title

Spoiler

5BF5Yhx.png?1

There wasn't anything that needed to be said. They had made it right outside Cord Castle. Archaneans were everywhere. Now is the time to reclaim the capital

for the 3rd time. At this point, some of the citizens are getting used to it, but this only causes Cord's passion to restore the kingdom to its former glory rise. It was time to to begin a war yet again.

dTMH2jp.png?1

I wish I had made the extra time to write some explanation for Warren's promotion alongside Belf, but I was seriously tired. Regardless, there are a lot of 20's on the screen, so I'm happy.

PauutYQ.png?1

b8hkPdY.png?2

The Archaneans proved to be competent enemies regarding tactical fortification, as there are ballisticians, bishops with decent staves and bolgonone, and even a sniper with a longbow that can reach anyone that comes even close to the seize point. Catria is given the starsphere, a barrier, and a strength bond to giver her enough strength to kill one of the ballisticians in 2 turns. They will be healed, but it won't be enough. The barrier is to give her enough tankiness to survive all of the enemies that will attack her once this enemy falls. While difficult, you can get away with killing most units here with a decent flier, which isn't too hard to accomplish. On lunatic however, this is basically impossible, and you would need a rescue staff to kill someone here safely. There are other ways to get around killing these people on lunatic or maniac using weaker fliers, but those involve rescue and a dancer, neither of which I have. Since I've taken up this much time not making a joke, I would just like to say that I really like this map, and tactics of this stage shine. There are many options you could take, but you still have a moderate amount of freedom with how you could go about each one, depending on your set up, and each one is risky without careful strategy.

qKZxKrt.png?1

Theoretically, I could just kill them right now, but then Abel would attack me, and he would be reunited with Cain much earlier than anticipated.

hSbFhzq.png?1

An armor knight spots the Altean Army approach, but his legs freeze up from fear, and he pretends not to notice them, so he won't have to fight them alone.

Also, I lost on this turn once because Bantu still had the wyvernstone equipped, and he does actively go out of his way to transform into a wyvern when attacked by a ballistae. I thought that was kind of funny.

5oj1eqJ.png?1

The enemy notices Belf's flashy clothing over all else, and prioritizes ridding the world of pointless drip.

VQVPpQl.png?1

Without the strength bond, they would've had 28 HP, and I would only deal 26. I would say this is how Fire Emblem rewards attentive players, but I feel like I'm the only person who focuses on stats this intently, and I am a nerd for it.

2z2JWAQ.png?1

There is nothing I can add to her anymore. Asking for strength and defense would be petty.

03MGdtV.png?1

These are the first armor knights present since chapter 8. As such, these particular set of units earn a spot in the minor serotonin provider category of Fire Emblem, right next to proc'ing a move star bonus in Thracia 3 Digits behind Kaga's Credit Card.

7gR2Rd7.png?1

New Mystery is the most pointless game to buy silver weapons in. Not because you get so many of them, but because Matthis can end anyone with a stick.

83PXRmX.png?1

Seeing both myself and the enemy have 100 hit on each other disturbs me as I was just trying to make Sophia usable yesterday. I am not okay.

Ntl7fDJ.png?1

Turn 2 was mostly simple. Belf was out of the sniper's range, and Samto was healed with physic. Samto was probably at risk of a crit, but I've lost the fear of random critical long ago, ever since I played 3 Houses on maddening.

uYg1o0N.png?1

One notable aspect of this chapter is a herd of promoted cavalry chasing you from the eastern half of the stage right from the beginning. They carry various forged slayer weapons as to prevent you from creating a chokepoint. However, the devs never accounted for a tanky axe unit, as nothing deals super effective damage to them, meaning that Ruben's dream can finally come true. Yublack-knight removes all challenge from this segment of the chapter.

eZvqhAa.png?1

He immediately ruins this moment by missing 3 of 4 attacks. This doesn't stop him from tanking well, but I am once again reminded of how I would apparently be a bad parent according to Ruben. That is wrong by the way. You can ask my son once he gets out of the deep realms.

9fpQZiY.png?1

If there's one thing that gets me excited about playing this PMU, it would have to be me laughing at Ruben.

Bantu getting perfect kills is up there.

P413tAL.png?1

Wrys heals someone I cannot remember, and is slowly but surely returning to his former title of Speedwrys. I think that was what we called him. I can't recall, nor do I want to waste a minute checking back.

IxB627O.png?1

Marth enters a village and the villager acts far too conceited, which angered me a bit.

SfVwGXk.png?1

Due to a misunderstanding, Marth is now on a hit list. The gimmick of these two towns is that one of them gives you an energy drop and the other gives you a dracoshield. As they hate each other, you cannot obtain both. This is one of the few times in the series that Intelligent Systems actually gives you the freedom of choice. I chose the option to burn both villages down to put them in their place.

OHo2ues.png?1

Yuboldandbrash continues to solo the cavs, gaining Norne's attention. She wanted to help out if he needed assistance, but we all know that I just don't him getting all the xp.

Uuhjgdm.png?1

Damn. Now I almost feel like a Fates parent.

HGq0if4.png?1

lm6D7Ve.png?1

The only thing turn 4 had to offer were two thieves. Belf shows a potential to become a mini-tank, but I already have more than enough of them. What he really needs is better weapon ranks, but this isn't Old Mystery, so weapon lvl isn't a stat you can obtain.

Don't worry. I'm not going to rant about how weapon lvl is better. What ruins Old Mystery is the lack of Wrys. Other than that, it's a solid game, and should be credited for having most mechanics present in Thracia, but much like based units, no one plays either of those games and my words mean nothing.

3ZH6cev.png?1

This was how I weakened the thief by the way.

ouf9ra7.png?1

This was how I coped with life by the way. It still is.

jeuM99y.png?1

Norne killed the last 1-2 range enemy, and she is now no longer at risk attacking right beside the Fire Yublem.

Those stats are the average ones of most paladins, and their armorslayer prevents Matthis from tanking. That is a lie. He could easily take them on regardless, but I wanted to give Yubyleth his time to shine, as he is the perfect candidate to take out these paladins without consequences.

56SrQI7.png?1

He lands a critical hit.

38sb3RF.png?1

He lands...another crit...

Zc7WLpl.png?1

Thank God he didn't keep repeat the joke until it stopped being funny.

ozDOS5j.png?1

...I would like to make a formal apology.

kavDJrK.png?1

Things are going much more smoothly on the other side, as Bord easily wipes out a thief who mistook him for Astram, thinking he'd land an easy kill.

iVJuHvg.png?1

If anyone reading this is struggling with difficult Fire Emblem games, remember this. Dodgetanking is generally unreliable. Pure strength however, can absolutely stop you from dying. They can't hurt you if you crack their skull with one punch. This is why Bartre is better than Echidna, and if you tell me otherwise, you're a simp.

iWXqcaX.png?1

To add something interesting to say here, I would like to point out that I am becoming somewhat flier deprived. Catria is my only flier here. I am not using any fliers in my current Binding Blade run, and I don't have any fliers either in my Blazing Sword run that I haven't touched in a while. I don't plan on doing anything about it though. There's not that many fliers out there that I would call based, aside from Syrene.

OIJeyfa.png?1

I hope Bord fans enjoy these perfect kills as much as I do. These are for them.

That is a lie, but I hope I'm doing the funny Bord man justice.

XBFDjEK.png?1

There are 2 reasons I took this screenshot.

1: I was not stupid by attacking with Bord. This fighter deals much less damage than the previous one.

2: Why is this man holding two hand axes, with one of them being outright better? Throw it away or lend it to an alley. You look stupid holding two, but only using one. Also, why do you even have a forged hand axe? Tomahawks are a thing. Use that.

3ubJSeU.png?1

Before the paladin could strike Yubandera down, Norne snipes his sorry bottom into the river. Through their bloody murder, they begin to bond a little.

qE8JXap.png?1

With the final paladin slain, the two thank one another for their assistance, and Norne praises Yubedrock for how far he's come.

Norne: "You know I bet Yumina would be so proud to have you as her brother if she could see this?"

Yubroccoli: "You think so? I dunno. At first, she seemed alright with it. Surprised that I didn't chicken out. But then, as I kept sending her letters of my progress, she seems...disgusted. I think...I'm becoming a monster in her eyes. I'm...I'm scared. What I push her away from my life? What if I do become blood crazed? Am I nothing more than a killing machine? Gods...I just want this to end already. I miss her, but I fear she might not miss me, or ever want to see me again."

Norne: "Ah, I suppose that makes sense. She probably saw you as an innocent boy who was in need of protection. To suddenly switch to a man who takes countless lives everyday. It can be a bit much to take in, especially if you don't condone murder even in war. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just try not to get excited in battles. Show her that you're still the same kind loveable brother when you return home. I know she will be overjoyed. Things might get tough, but I know that the bond between siblings is strong enough to overcome it. You're a good person Yubello."

Yubertram: "Wow, that's...you're really kind Norne, and you actually said my name right! Thank you!"

Norne: No problem! Besides, it's nice to talk to someone who isn't a big jerk. I know you mean well. Now, how about we catch up with the rest of the group?"

9RoOUTe.png?1

On turn 7, enemies will appear from these forts for 3 turns. Normally, you would either be further down south, and they would try to overwhelm you as the reinforcements from the center will chase you from the east to surround your group, OR you can just block these holes for 3 turns to avoid them entirely. Both options sounded awful, so I just waited for them with my Metal Gears.

Spoiler

On lunatic, blocking can help, since they're pretty tough to handle and appear on turn 6, giving your slower units very little time to run away from their spawn area, but you could do without it. I actually like how these reinforcements are handled, but this makes xp much easier to obtain.

IYRZQvp.png?1
For those who didn't believe me when I said that Matthis could still tank an armorslayer, you should hurry. The annual clown convention begins in 20 minutes.

m2yA8bL.png?1

I won't go too much over what I do during the player phases of these turns. They're relatively simple. It's more about preparing for the next wave. Of course, I make sure that Bantu doesn't fall behind. At this point, he is my main content. We all want to see where he goes.

LLvp15H.png?1

Cord, Bantu, and Yubello are my three main tanks now. That doesn't matter though, because the enemy will hardly target any of them. I also don't like that most of them are unpromoted. Come on. I'm here for xp. Not more content.

JRvQXzI.png?1

The mage completely ignores a literal dragon to try shooting a fireball to a man behind the giant beast.

If I had known 2 more strength would've been enough to OHKO the mage, I would've done nothing about it out of laziness.

QK4KMdH.png?1

uuZgFFa.png?1

For being Kris, he's one of the most strength screwed AU's I've ever seen, especially since his growths as determined from the character creation was mostly made to be all about strength. His speed has capped though, and his defense is pretty decent.

9rDfzLK.png?1

On turn 9, I noticed that most enemies are dealing literally nothing to Matthis. He could be getting crit'd for all I know, but it changes nothing.

BPUOeAA.png?1

Q1QJFCV.png?1

Finally at level 20, Norne can proceed to not promote until chapter 17, or 16x if I deploy her there. I really didn't consider the amount of master seals I needed. Luckily, snipers gain 5 speed when promoting so she won't completely fall off by then, but she won't have enough chapters to become anything special, especially since I'll be too busy dedicating kills to the newer drafts.

KhDHcbU.png?1

A mage attacks Matthis once again, but by now, I'm just not giving him the starsphere out of spite.

cY7kHTm.png?1

As an Ice Dragon, Bantu took 2 damage. You cannot make that up. It sounds like a bit, but here it is. It is possible, and now one of you is now obligated to make a video about making Bantu be your MVP.

IY6Kl4x.png?1

Bord has an easy time taking out some reinforcements from the south, as he has a Poleax. You can see the reinforcements still arriving. I need to catch up before Bord takes every kill.

8baewbP.png?1

Cord has the speed. Yuberdly has the defense. Bord has God's blessing.

iYtiz7f.png?1

jItjr47.png?1

Warren is an A tier unit. I'm dead and serious.

kclUoEF.png?1

I don't see him capping strength, but speed and defense are a safe bet.

5pIEyk3.png?1

By turn 11, a horseman tries to take out Catria, but sees that she has the iote's shield. Being a huge fan of Iote, he begs to get a closer look at the shield, and Catria uses this opportunity to troll someone in front of Marth, hoping that he'll think she has a sense of humor.

CIy46Wp.png?1

If it wasn't clear by now, the Altea arc is full of slayer weapons. You cannot afford to be careless with strong units, unless you're a berserker apparently. I first learned how much they can break the game when using Caesar as one. He's one of my favoirte new mystery units from that one run. Probably my favorite NM run. I even made Abel a beast of a unit in that one. Sure, Yubeshrew is a really interesting unit that is doing really well, but nothing will top that Caesar. Man...Don't worry. I'm still the Cord Connoisseur. Ironic that I'm not actually using the real Cord in this run, but there's enough drafts that could last me 3 PMU's back to back.

I have some fun with orb trading and test out a thief's reaction time. Oddly enough, there was no reaction to the giant hole in their head.

For those wondering where he got a magnum, he was given one from the ***s of the last chapter for his achievement of getting an S rank on "Saucy Samto Time".

NIjKhw5.png?1

After all the hype I gave Belf, I am obligated to train to the the very max.

Kls1CQY.png?1

These are the enemies that are causing the danger zone covering most other enemies. Catria does a Catria, and the other one chases after Belf.

UuXmVLN.png?1

Belf was heavily injured, as they had a sword that is apparently sentient and classist. It deals super effective damage to heroes and swordmasters.

Fun fact: This weapon is inspired from the salt of optimal players who hate swords for not typically having 1-2 range. These people also don't like bows though, so there's no need to trust them.

0DmVU2l.png?1

Okay. Wrys wants to be good again. Nice. That's nice.

PiBMw89.png?1

By turn 17, I give Belf another kill. You know what would be funny? Like, what if this guy just attacked Est? He could. Oh wait. That's exactly what happens on lunatic, where a thief just appears on turn 4 to open the door for no benefit of his own whatsoever, causing Est to get killed. Yeah, that's real funny, New Mystery. They must've loved Kaga's designs.

yO0vrtw.png?1

gxF5o7Q.png?1

It still feels great to 1RKO a general. They could've killed me, but I used a save circle to prevent punishment. The level up could've been better, but so could all of you, so I'm not going to try to make it better.

BX8f5AJ.png?1

Among the enemy ranks was Abel. What's his significance? He's the random person who married Faye in SoV. Unsurprisingly, it was a very unhealthy relationship, and they soon parted ways. Now he's in an equally toxic relationship with Est.

1VweaLb.png?1

Samto shoots someone in the leg with his iconic M1911A1 for the last time. He tries to gun down Abel, but finds out that he had run out of ammo. Rather than wait to buy more ammo, he pulls out the sniper who fell into the water and was trying to swim to safety, and proceeds to pistol whip him until the gun itself breaks.

I7gQf0q.png?1

Samto: "Well that was a nice exercise."

Cord: "What was the joke?"

Matthis: "You f*****g idiot."

Samto: "This guy. Hah."

He points at Cord and chuckles. Matthis snickers. Cord tells himself that this war will eventually end, and he can finally place them in prison, then send that cell to Valla, then delete the eshop.

 fr8znUt.png?1

This time, he actually has the starsphere, I think.

W2rbKuM.png?1

Earlier, Belf had freed Est from the prison, assuming Archaeans were unjustly keeping prisoners. She quickly rushes to Abel to gaslight him into thinking isn't trying hard enough to be an overprotective BF, and also to hide her imprisonment kink.

Rs1bDZ0.png?1

Abel, wanting to avenge how they mistreated her, tries to fight the boss. He died.

MHgjpBa.png?1

IL24nTu.png?1

He's running out of stats to obtain, so you won't be seeing as much from him as far as level ups go. This is actually one of the best possible growths he could've gotten.

6UA3x2b.png?1

It's almost comical how these people stand here to guard the cell, even though the convict has already escaped from the other door, and they can see my army attacking the boss right now. Really, this is smart. They're playing ignorant to avoid dying, but Catria wants to cap strength, so she strikes them down.

CBzQB0r.png?1

Catria has a pretty easy time tanking the enemies. The ballistician has many other units to prioritize. If you're questioning why I didn't feed these kills to other units, it's because I'm lazy. That's it. I was just going to seize the map without killing them otherwise.

ntYIKZ0.png?1

Well it was almost worth it.

IJEBsna.png?1

Bantu delivers the final blow to Eibel, Abel's older brother. How did Abel not know? He never asked.

CpJlf5i.png?1

Having wiped out the Archaneans guarding the capitol, Cord spares no time rushing into the castle to take out the true threat to Cord Castle.

This post got annoying to do near the end because Imgur kept crashing for some reason. It took far longer to get the screenshots out then than it should've. I may have missed putting a few, but it's probably fine. I hardly proofread these posts anyways.

Wow. I did not know this. I only got into the community recently. I'm glad things are getting better. Now we just need to prove that our obscure characters we use are based, and that Cord is severely underrated.

We've come a long way from "Jeigan steals EXP" and the mindset of all prepromotes being bad except Pent. He's actually one of the more underwhelming pre-promoted users, since he's in an easy game where Warp isn't as helpful. Compare to Niime in FE6, who is statistically worse in about every meaningful category but also a superior unit in design and functionality.

Well, in TF2 everyone loves the Medic. What they don't love is being the Medic. You get to jump around while being targeted by everyone and you have nothing to defend yourself properly.

Jokes on them, though. While they were using their silly meta crossbows, I studied the syringe gun. After many years, I mastered the art of aiming with the Medic's meme gun. So now I kill things as Medic too. It's always a great feeling when some idiot Scout comes after me, thinking me an easy target, and then they end up running for the hills with 20 HP left after eating a bunch of medicine.

Quote

Dude, I remember getting their support. I didn't know much, but I have heard very small rumors about it being a decent support. It felt great. It was a very memorable moment of feeling rewarded for using a unit most people don't acknowledge. It might have been the main push to make me appreciate these kinds of characters. Well, I've always enjoyed meme units, but I'm referring to it in a more unironic sense.

That's a great story. Bad units are the best.

Sure, he's like 15 and not that experienced, but a lot of the cast are young, and Roy doesn't really do much with the concept of being inexperienced

Roy is, like the entirety of his game's cast, a character that really shines... in supports. Which is not a good thing when you're the main character of the game where getting supports is a pain in the derriere.

Yublack-knight removes all challenge from this segment of the chapter

Ahh, good times of trivializing this section of the map in... exactly the same way. Yubello is too powerful.

Thank you!"

Thank goodness for the sniper speed gain, too. It's going to be her edge over Warren... unless he keeps gaining more and more strength. Then she'll be completely screwed.

Yes. My iconic PMU of SoV, where you can't really choose between anyone because there's almost no units to pick. It feels so great to say which class the villagers are, and everything else is the same. Fun.

I'm pretty sure SoV is the 2nd worst game to try a PMU on. The first would be Genealogy, but no one in their right mind would try that. Instead, you should play a real FE game. On a slightly serious note, I don't see myself doing PMU's on any FE games that aren't DSFE. Sure, Fates would be funny, but I can't run 3DS games anywhere except an actual 3DS, and I'm not about to manually take 40 pictures per chapter and convert them to images to display here. Don't worry. I have plans for other FE let's plays in the future (not anytime soon though). The main idea for the next run would be to add a spin to making vanilla Sacred Stones more challenging. Examples like "Sacred Stones: Coin Emblem" where you flip a coin to determine just about every relevant action and Joshua is the protag, or "Can I Ironman Sacred Stones Without Promoting?", where prepromotes would obviously be banned. The Coin Emblem would also be an ironman, and losing Joshua would end the run. Why? I just flipped a coin, and it said so. I have ideas for other FE games including New Mystery's Dice Emblem, much similar to Coin Emblem, but with rolling dice, and possibly even an FE11 PMU ironman, but I probably should take a break from DSFE for a while. If you're wondering why I keep bringing up ironmans, I enjoy not having to worry about retaking screenshots whenever I die. It'd also be nice to share frustrations of losing a funny unit, but a pure ironman with no twists sounds too boring to me. I'm not saying the next LP will be that though. Some challenge ideas won't work with that much pressure.

If a funny idea involving Thracia, some other GBAFE game, or even something like Last Promise comes to your mind, feel free to let me know, whether through this post, dms, or a rock thrown through my window. Then again, I feel like 2 people here would just want me to run a blind LP of that one hack they keep mentioning here. I already forgot the name, but I'm sure they would love to dictate my actions there.

We believe in ya. I sure do. I would've just suggested Caesar or Horace, but Bantu's a great pick too.

I'm going to be honest. I'm having a much easier time making Bantu work over Sophia...

Chapter 16: It's an Overused Joke!

Spoiler

Cord: "Alright, now we just have to rout the enemy in the castle one more time, and we'll finally have Cord Castle back in our control!"

Bord: "Can't wait to finally be back home!"

As they enter, another paladin from outside tries to attack Cord from behind.

Cord: "Ah crap! No one blocked the forts from outside, they're still coming!"

Marth: "I'll deal with them. You go on ahead."

Cord: "Not with those frail *** arms you ain't! I'll keep them busy. You all go on ahead without me. I'll catch up later. I know you guys can do it!"

Marth: Fine, let the guy with the rapier fight where there's no horses or armors. Good luck sir Cord man."

Marth and co head off to finish off Archanea's last troop holding the castle under their control. The area seems suprisingly empty aside from a handful of heroes, but what they didn't know is that they anticipated their arrival and have set up a trap.

6l38zxl.png?1

Bantu ate a security guard and was promptly rewarded with a good level up. This took about 3 resets for those interested. It's funny seeing Bantu survive crits.

Also, why does he never get HP? That's his best growth.

mz1y7Ee.png?1

There are other units who could use these, but I am determined to make Bantu never fall off, and I don't want him carried exclusively by rigged levels, though I am mostly proud of how little I've done that for Bantu.

ArldtS7.png?1

After selling my last killer weapon, I use my last bit of money to get the last speedwing in the shop. I haven't used it yet, but I know I'll need it. Perhaps you can help decide whether it goes to Bantu, Frost, or Astram.

boKx9Cf.png?1

After a shot from Matthis's iron bow, Warren picks up the thief's iron sword that they dropped to finish them off. The thief didn't realize until he was already bleeding out that he had the rank to use the silver sword he stole.

HsGRhWq.png?1

KnrqWFs.png?1

The amount of heroes present along with this sniper often causes trouble for many, but Wrys plans a surprise attack by sending the literal child to slaughter them all from behind. They'll never see it coming.

BOdr0mh.png?1

New Mystery knew that players out there would try to break the game with Matthis, so 2 of these heroes have armorslayers.

hLQ8QSN.png?1

Matthis uses the starsphere to avoid getting double'd.

q1mGroe.png?1

Not even a massively forged slayer weapon can deal over half of his HP. This is exactly why Matthis was made to be so hard to recruit.

As the remaining heroes approached, Marth realizes that these were Astram's men once again, the same people who chased them for 3 whole chapters. Astram reasies himself to finally avenge his fallen comrades from before, but one of the nearby snipers, Jeorge, halts after noticing Cord's army.

Spoiler

Jeorge: "Astram, hold!"

Astram: "What!? Jeorge, are you insane!? I've been waiting for this. They must fall by my hand! I swore it!"

Jeorge: "You can't. They're too strong. You'll throw your life away for nothing. How do you think your people will feel? How I would I feel? What would I do if you fall in battle?"

Astram: "You think I'm just going to let them walk away? Why must you never have confidence in me!? Does my Mercurius mean nothing to you? This blade, passed down from generation to generation, was made to keep our union together. Our business. Our family! We will not let these snakes get away for tearing it apart!"

Jeorge: "But they have spared my life!"

Astram: "What?"

Jeorge: "It's true. Back at the brigde, where we fought with Hardin, Marth chose not to kill me, even though I had no plans of joining him. And trust me. They've killed a lot of potential allies.:

Astram: "So they're not good people. I am grateful that you made it out alive, but they have done too much wrong to be worthy of sparing."

Jeorge: "I am not defending them as people. They are giant ***holes. But nonetheless, I owe them my gratitude. And that is not the only reason. I want you to consider who we're working for right now."

Astram: "We are with Archanea. Do you think I've neglected to understand what that entails."

Jeorge: "That's exactly what I'm thinking. How could you even presume that this was a good idea? Hardin is clearly not a good man. The people of Altea have done nothing wrong. And we let others trample all over them to exact some petty revenge, at the cost of far too many lives."

Astram: "This was our only choice! Our finances have been worse than ever. We're struggling to survive a day out here with food. The rations of our enemy were all that were keeping us alive. Why do you think I had to leave you during Christmas season? I had to take up as many job offerings as possible. I couldn't let our men starve nor could I let you lose a home without enough money to pay the rent."

Jeorge: "So that's why you made me celebrate Christmas all alone...Why didn't you tell me? I could've helped. We always used to be team! We could've done more together!"

Astram: "I'm not about to let you get yourself killed out there. Without the Parthia, I don't think I could ever rest easy knowing you're anywhere out in battle."

Jeorge: "So...I'm forced to just stay at home and I have to be the one worried about the day you might fall in battle? And then I just need to accept your choice to jeopardize the reputation of our army by siding with these dogs?"

Astram: "Shut up! Do you think this is easy for me!? If we don't aide them, we'll die."

Jeorge: "I'd rather die with honor than kneel to this sorry excuse of a nation. You know exactly this is what your ancestors would've thought too. We were never one to have allied with other countries entirely. We aide the individual, regardless of nation or ideology, so long as their cause is just. Archenea will not let us do anything that isn't within their favor. You know they would forbid us from working for anyone of any country that isn't theirs, and we sure as hell aren't on the just side of the war here."

Astram: "....."

Jeorge: "Astram...please. We can't keep doing this."

Astram: "I know...I'm a fool. But...I was too blinded by rage and desperation to see it clearly. I know this is wrong, but I've been struggling to rationalize any of this crap. Everything has been happening too quickly. This is all too much."

Jeorge: "Astram. We must fight for Cord. Not forever, but just long enough to rid the world of Hardin. You know this is for the best. I don't want to lose you or our army. We're too weak to fight them. We don't have the moral."

Astram: "Dammit...I suppose, I have no choice. I'll do it, but only because they were kind enough to save you. And once this all ends, I WILL strike him down."

Jeorge: "Focus on right now. Lay down your sword. Offer your services to them. We could earn our money this way. Unlike Archanea, we will not pledge to them. We only need to ask one man. Marth."

Like this, Astram approaches Marth.

Astram: "You there. You're that retainer I've heard much about."

Marth: "Probably. Why? Someone else put me on a hit list?"

Astram: "As a matter of fact, yes. But I can prevent incidents like those from happening. You're going to murder that *******, Hardin, right?"

Marth: "Hopefully."

Astram: "I'll serve as your guard and aide you in killing that son of a ***** if you're willing to supply my people with the proper food and equipment, as well as 10,000 gold when the war is over. For such a fancy kingdom, that shouldn't be too much of an issue."

Marth: "And if I say no?"

Astram: "Then I'll f***ing kill you."

Marth: "Yeah, I shoulda seen that coming. Whatever, just leave me alone."

Astram: "...This better not have been a mistake Jeorge."

JZ6AY1K.png?1

w7kGd9o.png?1

Astram uses his legendary Mercurius to prove that weapon ranks are the best stat.

The only exception to this rule is Cord. The actual Cord, not this AU.

iyuHOBc.png?1

With Astram somewhere else, I'm free to kill another one of his men for minimal xp gain.

7eHeA7h.png?1

It was worth it.

uymCcZH.png?1

I haven't shown what he did last turn, but he got about 2 more kills, and is bleeding out. That doesn't matter. Yubook 2 killing things is no longer something worth reporting.

BzDAoBE.png?1

His level ups are still worth mentioning. It's a mostly great level up, but I'm almost certain that I'll reach lvl 20 without even capping strength. That's cool.

Every strength drop is probably going to Bantu.

buZhOVz.png?1

Do you remember Gangrel, the levin sword thief from chapter 14? He's back, and now he's got one of the orbs so he can try to complete the Fire Emblem so he can restore glory to Plegia, which doesn't exist yet. If you question how he's still alive, he literally survived the events of Awakening through that post game map that is a larger version of Mystery's chapter 1. You should thank the devs for that. You can marry him that way, and the idea of Chrom finding out his best friend married the man who was responsible for the unfunny falling Emmeryn meme is hilarious. Unfortunately, we need to kill him again now to restore order to the timeline and keep the boring canon plot rolling.

bCbYTen.png?1

bI6OCrv.png?1

This is really good. With 20 speed, he won't get doubled by the wyverns, as they cap at 23, and most enemies will only reach 24 speed by Hardin's chapter. By then, he'll hopefully get 1 more speed. No point in trying to avoid getting doubled by dragons, as he'll naturally die in one hit, and I can't afford to waste an angelic robe on my healer, especially when there's another healer that I anticipate.

wC57xCG.png?1

Matthis waits until right before they can escape to block their path, taking great joy in robbing them of their hopes of escaping alive and watching their expression change from smugness to being absolutely terrified.

SEuWldC.png?1

Only 2 more speed until he caps every major stat. Skill and luck are hopeless, but who can resist 30 defense in a game like New Mystery? Anyone who hates generals is the answer, but then you're boring.

MGCWIXU.png?1

Astram has gone from being a fearsome swordsman of Archanea to being the rat exterminator.

lFIvrNB.png?1

Since I stopped the thieves from opening the chests, I had full control of when to start the reinforcement waves. Normally, I would place my nostank right where they are to make this map something that isn't an absolute nightmare, but FE12 fans apparently hate female magic users, so I can't do that.

CTbsZhm.png?1

Okay, my plan has just been blown out the the water. Screw you too. I tend to underestimate the sheer amount of enemies that rush you from inside the throne room no matter how many times I do this chapter. I also forgot that one of the warriors has a hammer, and that combined with the amount of mages stops even Matthis from tanking them. I have to retreat.

5V1jbSQ.png?1

Yubello is my best bet for tanking. His luck is decent enough, and the soldiers will hardly leave a scratch. I use a pure water because there are swarm users that can reach the north team, and I cannot afford to let Yuberuka be targeted.

For those who don't know, luck is really important here because a ton of the warriors use killer weapons. This is one of the most unfair chapters because of that. I mean, there are just so many killer weapons, and their high might makes even this tank get obliterated. I can't player phase them because there are simply too many of them. I actually would enjoy this map otherwise. I'll get into why later.

5gczKYy.png?1

I don't actually have screenshots for turn 10's enemy phase, but here's what happened in turn 11's one.

YB9JR4k.png?1

Yuboro lands a crit on one of the warriors, which is really helpful, since the other one got healed entirely by the enemy. This isn't to say crits are my only way out. They can only fully heal one person per turn. Who am I kidding? Half of this map is rng. What does it matter if I defend lucky crits. I'm banking on not getting crit'd.

HYZsI5m.png?1

Belf kills the hammer user, so Matthis stands a much better chance against the enemies, but I still need to be careful. Mages are everywhere, so I cannot hug the walls.

kBNtTfZ.png?1

Matthis can survive two mages, and the soldiers literally deal 0 damage to him, but I can't get any closer without a 3rd mage trying to make an unfunny Genealogy reference.

U9TQgMo.png?1

The warrior with a killer axe terrifies me because Bantu has awful luck, but then my knowledge of enemy turn order comes into play, and I know for a fact that the soldier will go first and will block them.

yBWq6u7.png?1

I am a genius.

A few people might question why the warrior didn't go first anyways since their AI calculates crits as if it will happen if at 2% or higher, but Bantu would barely survive that. Sure, the warrior with a bow could finish the job, but Archaneans hate working as a team. They (their AI) think for only themselves when determining if they'll kill or not.

v3K77y1.png?1

I believe Bantu would've survived a crit from the bow Warrior, but Yublacksmith wouldn't have. He had decent luck though, so he unfortunately live for another day.

o1h0WbB.png?1

Matthis can actually double mages with the starsphere, but the fire hitting him is damaging his eyesight and he misses. He refuses to wear glasses.

Qt3LPeK.png?1

If you couldn't tell by now, my usual strat for this map, whenever I don't just cheese the whole thing with nosferatu, is to bait them out from the start and split the enemy as I chip them to make them easier to thin out. Once the waves stop, I'll usually be able to defeat them before I'm cornered. I can actually appreciate this design to an extent, especially when you're rewarded by killing the thieves early with having more time to prepare for them. However, most of that design is ruined by killer weapons, becuase trying to hurt them bit by bit becomes pure rng. I can only assume the intention is that killers prevent you from tanking with a general, but mages already solve that issue. Do they just want this to be outright impossible? If the idea was to player phase them, I can respect that. Killer bows and killer axes could be attack without counter using the right units, but that only work when they aren't grouped together like a Genealogy map. Instead, they're placed in such large amounts, that only luck can really save you. I don't like map, but I wish I could. I like the idea of the chest gimmick, and the point of the map even story wise is to struggle through the enemy's plan of swarming you like this, but this is just Super Thracia.

aNoy1Y6.png?1

Back to father and adopted son time, there are only 2 enemies I have to deal with. The soldier is still blocking and they hardly damage the face of the franchise, leaving only the killer bow user and a mage as the real threats. Given that Yubadluckbrian has less res, the mage will surely go after him. So, if he doesn't have a hand axe equipped, I should be fine.

2MfoA94.png?1

Good news. The mage didn't know how to access console commands and couldn't clip their fire through the wall. Bad news. The warrior knew how to access console commands and rigged his RNG to ensure a crit. Luckily, Bantu managed to tough it out.

K1GeJki.png?1

Good news. I'm almost done with all the enemies from the west hall. Bad news. My cat won't stop eating inedible things and start puking them out hours later. I can't stop them. Why must you do this? You worry me.

bdvReZu.png?1

ANMZxd7.png?1

There are also a ton of enemies on the east hall to be concerned about, but don't worry. We'll get through them together.

qjw6kDT.png?1

FHS1Kqa.png?1

Is it me, or are Astram's stats not as bad as I thought? 15 defense is decent, and I've dealt with worse strength by now before. His A rank swords do largely make up for that. Don't you dare say I'm coping. Shut up.

YKw8J1k.png?1

This turn felt scary. Staying in the original chokepoint was too risky. There are too many people who can attack Bantu. I need to regroup and heal all my allies. However, I couldn't retreat in any safe way. I have to risk a crit or two, but with no divine pulses to to overlook bad game design with.

Z3LKwMg.png?1

Fortunately, the main unit at risk of the killer bow was Wrys, who as well know, is known for his fantastic luck.

I9D3mrS.png?1

You might be thinking that I'm too lucky with how no one has died to a crit. That's because Matthis absorbed a crit right here. The crits keep going to units who can live through live. This is luckiest unlucky moment I've had with Fire Emblem. That's probably a lie, but who's going to fact check me?

tpl3qP9.png?1

F**king finally. We're at the last turn dealing with these enemies. These people have been a menace for 5 whole turns, but now we're about to finish most of them off right now, at turn 15.

86DkT6A.png?1

Even a mage can crit Bantu. This is why you see most enemies going after him. It's like how veterans use Sirius to bait lunatic enemies to get away with aggressive strats, but I've been doing that with the old dragon man that everyone forgets about because Intelligent Systems wants you to associate manaketes with young girls instead, as this kind of thing has been working so well with Pokémon fans.

I hear Adult Tiki won some vote in some fan game called FE Heroes though, so perhaps that's a sign of possible change. I don't trust you guys to keep it that way though. You left Leidan near dead last. Your word is irrelevant.

There is something beautiful about seeing 3 22's. Oh yeah. It reminds of the alternative name I was going to give Samto's steel gun forge, the .223 pistol.

todKXok.png?1

By turn 22, I gather up the army right outside the throne room. Before I open the door, I prepare Matthis with a barrier to ready him for the siege tomes

NEECXWc.png?1

and am rewarded with a feeling similar to finding out that a friend of mine was wrong about SoV being a great Fire Emblem game.

sBxdQgQ.png?1

There are 3 siege tome users who share a very large range. You need to be careful approaching the boss, or you'll be donion rings. An easy method is to bait the swarm users with units with no res, while the center one only takes up the General's hit and possibly the Meteor. I didn't do that though. I was confident that Matthis could take it all.

cyI4DIY.png?1

hByttVV.png?1

And I was right.

A9ciWJ5.png?1

Matthis has a 20% speed growth as a general, and he got speed twice in a row. This would surprise me, but that was his speed growth in FE11 the entire time, and I capped as a paladin there. I'm almost certain that the unholy blood growth boost theory is true. Either that, or he's radioactive.

yZP1bAI.png?1

Bantu uses up a magestone as to not waste the good stones. It's important to note that even though Bantu isn't level 20 yet, he's been getting less xp per kill that my promoted units. It's concerning, but something like that won't stop me. I beat Yu-gi-oh Forbidden Memories with no spell or trap cards. I can handle anything.

xx7qoIP.png?1

VpwTaWh.png?1

After wiping out the bug fanatics, Matthis obtains the ability to use steel bows.

5HMn4gw.png?1

New Mystery hands out physic staves very frequently. This way, everyone can make fun of you for your disgusting hoarding habits when the game ends and you have 4 unused physic staves.

lYgA4xU.png?1

y1wCfP0.png?1

Belf commits a war crime and is rewarded with the Sol skill. I've never proc'd it before, since I never manage to proc any skills without Quixotic in Fire Emblem.

CBxXOC5.png?1

Astram proves his temporary loyalty to Marth's presumable cause by striking down Willow, the man responsible for stealing chairs in Altea/Cord Castle. He has nothing to do with Archanea. They saw him already here before they seized control of the castle. All he said was "Nope. Not getting out of this chair." They made a deal that his church of chairmen would aide them should anyone invade as long as he keeps this chair, but now Cord needs it back.

MysXJcK.png?1

Rather than seize the throne immediately, I wait 2 turns to give Astram some more xp.

rsngca0.png?1

We eating good tonight boys!

2MpDOIh.png?1

Look, I know there've been a couple of bad maps, but come on. New Mystery's still an amazing game. Please believe me. Let me have this.

Spoiler

Marth: "Man...finally. I miss this chair. What a nice chair. Gods, I love sitting on these things."

Astram: "Perhaps you and that old bloke aren't so different after all."

Marth: "Don't comapre me to a bald man! That's just rude."

Cord: "Alright, I'm back! Knew you guys could handle it. And I see you still love the Cord Chair. Considering the alternative of paying for your therapy, I kinda dodged a bullet here."

Marth: "It's been so long my guy. Like, man am I tired. How long has it been?"

Bord: "Like, 2 weeks for you guys. I'm the one who should be relieved. It's been years for me! I know things have been tough on Cord when it came to fixing Cord Castle since the last war, but maybe thing's will finally get better now that ol Bord's back in town, eh!?"

Cord: "It does feel nice now. I certainly feel more at peace now than before. I feel like once we take out Hardin, there won't be much left to tryna kill us all the damn time. I mean, Grust's done with. Macedon? More like Macedon't give a crap. Gra? Actually, I hardly hear from them. Dolhr? IRS remnants seem to have finally died down. Then again, maybe they're involved with the dragons. But, something tells me that those things, and the stupid organization will naturally be destroyed as we head to Hardin's doorstep. I can feel it in my bones. There's a lot of questions, but once we push through this last war, we might just finally reach peace."

Yubestowed: "You should really consider the fate of other nations around you. Not just yours. You might find peace, but what about everyone else? Do they mean nothing because they're not the victors of war?"

Cord: "What the- boy, you sound a lot like that Lang b*****d right now."

Yubiglang: "So because he was against you, everything he said was wrong? You know you'll just keep making enemies like that. You keep claiming that you'll do better for your kingdom, but that includes aiding everyone across this continent. You can't put harm onto others just for your own sake. No king should be that selfish, even if it's for their own kingdom. Grust never would've attacked you if you had just tried to show some empathy and even a modicum of assistance from the last war! But no, they're the bad guys. They should be blamed for everything, since there's nothing in Dohlr to pay for war costs. Their citizens totally deserved punishment for living in a country involved with a battle they had no say in!"

Cord: "Wha-kid, I'm not saying I didn't give a crap for anything but Cord Castle, but of course a king's supposed to care for their own kingdom! Grust soldiers kept tryna kill us! It's hard enough just trying to keep this place in order!"

Yubastion: "I know you're still fairly new to ruling, but to throw them under the bus is too cruel. You destroyed them already. You didn't even offer any trades with them. All you ever traded with was Aurelis, and that was only when you really needed to. And I get that perhaps you can't afford to assist a country like that through monetary means, but you don't even show a hint care for anyone else! Your actions have consequences, and it's your responsibility to see that no one suffers from it! You don't ever try to arrange meetings with other nations to establish any kind of treaties. Your people even created propaganda to blame Gra for everything, and now anyone born from there is thrown rocks at on the street! A damn speech about peace would've been the least you could do!"

Marth: "Kid, you're too young to get the logistics of all this. It's not as simple as that."

Cord: "No Marth, don't stop him. We all know what he's getting at. Probably understands this all more than me. I know, you've been trying to get my confidence back to ruling this place, but he's right. I don't know what the hell I'm doing. I really don't deserve to even be a king. I am a selfish ***hole, and I know it's wrong. I'm quite ashamed of what I've became. Everyone's right in hating me. Perhaps I shoulda died in battle..."

Marth: "Cord..."

Cord: "But I sure as hell ain't gonna give up now! I'm not afraid anymore. I can say it. I'm a stupid f**k. I deserve to be scorned at for my foolish actions. But I won't run away from them. If anyone is willing to continue giving me a chance, I will not allow myself to disappoint them again. I'm willing to reflect upon myself and reconsider everything. I won't let petty vengeance or some kind of pride or ignorance stop me anymore. I will do that I can to better myself, not just as a king to Altea, but as a person, to everyone. And because of that, Yubello. Please, help me become a better king."

Marth: "What the- Cord! You can't kneel to a kid! It's disgraceful!"

Cord: "Like we're not enough of a disgrace already? Hahah...please. I am sorry for all we have done to harm others. To Grust. To Khaden. Hell, even to Macedon...mostly. I ask that you please forgive me and help me never stray from the righteous path."

Yubellhalla: "...it's not me who can forgive you. You need to earn your forgiveness. From everyone. But, I will help you if that's what you want."

Cord: "Of course."

Like that, Cord shakes his hand, and Yubiorhythm becomes the new appointed tactician, who just so happens to also be a berserker.

Yubased: "Is this what you wanted, Lang?"

Bantu ate a security guard and was promptly rewarded with a good level up. This took about 3 resets for those interested. It's funny seeing Bantu survive crits.

Also, why does he never get HP? That's his best growth.

Don't try to make sense out of Bantu. It's already enough that he's somehow keeping up.

Frost could use it to kill Gharnef.

His level ups are still worth mentioning. It's a mostly great level up, but I'm almost certain that I'll reach lvl 20 without even capping strength. That's cool.

Every strength drop is probably going to Bantu.

I mean, he's solid everywhere. A slight hitrate problem, perhaps, but nowhere near Matthis's level in that respect. I'm quite impressed, to be honest! My Yubello did have the help of the growth drop. Yours didn't, and yet he's surprisingly close to mine in the areas that matter.

I'll take plot stupidity if it means I get to marry the best character in Awakening. Actually, the only one that was even remotely memorable, for me. He was so much fun to watch. I kinda liked that they were bold and killed him off when they did, but I hated to see him go. If only he joined as a playable earlier! By the time his paralogue became available, I had already been done with Awakening for 15 maps.

Look at Good Man Wrys becoming ever gooder! This guy's great.

Only 2 more speed until he caps every major stat. Skill and luck are hopeless, but who can resist 30 defense in a game like New Mystery? Anyone who hates generals is the answer, but then you're boring.

Man, Cord's doing an awful job of protecting the rear.

Yeeeaaah this map isn't all that great. Not one of my hated maps from this game, but certainly not my favorite either.

On 3/6/2022 at 6:11 AM, Shaky Jones said:

Good news. The mage didn't know how to access console commands and couldn't clip their fire through the wall. Bad news. The warrior knew how to access console commands and rigged his RNG to ensure a crit. Luckily, Bantu managed to tough it out.

If the enemies crit, it's hax. If you crit, it's also hax, because friendly crits almost never work in one's benefit, so they're the enemy's fault too. Such is the way of FE.

Is it me, or are Astram's stats not as bad as I thought? 15 defense is decent, and I've dealt with worse strength by now before. His A rank swords do largely make up for that. Don't you dare say I'm coping. Shut up.

His bases are... well, better than Macellan's, at least.

The problem is that he has 15 levels to grow speed on a 40% growth and one of the lowest personal bases in the entire game. Which is pretty awful. But let's hope for the best. He may yet surprise us.

Matthis has a 20% speed growth as a general, and he got speed twice in a row. This would surprise me, but that was his speed growth in FE11 the entire time, and I capped as a paladin there. I'm almost certain that the unholy blood growth boost theory is true. Either that, or he's radioactive.

I keep saying it, man. Matthis works too consistently for me not to believe my own superstition that he is a sentient being that has trascended the bounds of the game. He knows when the player is believing in him, truly believing. And he rewards that belief. Every. Single. Time.

Just hack in extra pitchforks and reclass everybody. Besides, we all know we read these for the plot, and so we can talk about how much more based Dean is than Sonya.

Samto will probably be the one archer I prioritize the most for the sake of presumably fast pink outfit man, although he's quite tricky to use since I refuse to let him fight with a bow that isn't named after a weapon. Like, how can I give him the Parthia? It'd break his character I put so little effort in. He can at least use swords though. That's cool. There's quite a few units that could use the arms scroll, but I really want to make sure Frost can wield excalibur, and he only starts at D in chapter 18. I don't have enough time to get even one rank in if I want him killing wyverns in chapter 19.

Gangrel is absolutely one of Awakening's shining moments. It's really cool how they handled him, and the fact that you kill him somewhat early is nice in its own way. Better than having him unrealistically keep retreating while you're in Plegia territory until you're strong enough to where he looks stupid for waiting so long. It also prevented him from being overused and possibly ruined as the plot gets into different subjects. As for being recruitable, I imagine it was for the best that he's in a postgame map, because you can simply claim it to be non canon if you want to. I mean, you can get Lyon in Sacred Stones. Are we going to say Lyon canonically never died? I doubt it. Gangrel is really cool. Heck, his recruitment method on the map is literally a New Mystery reference, as you have to talk to him 3 times exactly like you do with Katarina. Congrats Awakening. Chapter 16x: Reunion

Spoiler

I'm just gonna warn ya now. This chapter is 90% dialogue, and only a bit of it is funny. Honestly felt a bit dark and weird for what I'm used to, but ya gotta try new things everyday I suppose. Also, this is all your fault for making me utilize dead units!

Cord: "Well, I suppose I should go greet my people once more. It's about time they hear about some good news for once."

Soldier #5: "Milord, there is an emergency! There's a distress staff signal coming from Mountain Mayhem! The color of the smoke indicates that's it's an urgent call!"

Cord: "Ah damn. Of course there'd be another distraction...Fine! I''ll go. This shouldn't take up much more time. There's only so many enemies that could even fit there."

Yubazinga: "Mountain...mayhem?"

Cord: "It's a reserved set of small mountains for rock climbing. Sometimes we have brawls and such take place in the center surrounded by them."

Cord brings 6 people to follow him to the location. Everyone else rests from this long battle.

Cord: "Well, we're here. Where the hell's the problem?"

Katarina: "The problem is right in front of me."

Cord immediately recognized the familiar voice, but froze momentarily upon hearing it. He felt every muscle in his body clench as if it yearned to let out some explosion. His neck desperately wanted to turn the direction of the voice, but it hesitated to do so with each inch of movement, creaking like a broken faucet. His heart began pumping aggressively, elevating his senses, but his face grew pale from the memories that had resurfaced into his head. After what felt like an hour simply comprehending the situation, Cord flips his entire body around to confirm that he had finally found her, or that he had finally found him.

Cord: "YOU!!!"

Katarina: "I'm glad you could make it. It's been too long since our last date."

Cord: "I'll...I'll....."

He couldn't even form up any proper sentence. He clenched his fists. Blood seeped from his hands. His veins began to pop. His eyes began to enter a state of tunnel vision. There was only one thing he was interested in.

Katarina: "You've been through so much. It must've been painful to go through it alone."

Cord: "I"LL TEAR YOUR HEAD FROM YOUR SHOULDERS!!!"

He dashed straight towards her, running at the speed akin to that of a cheetah. However, he was quickly blocked by a barrier that forcefully blew him back.

Katarina: "You always were a hasty one. You never knew how to stop and take a look back at anything, even when it came to us."

Cord: "SHUT THE HELL UP! DIE!!!"

Once again, Cord attempts to strike her down, but fails.

Katarina: "....."

She waits for Cord to tire himself out. He attacks again and again, but to no avail. Marth watches reluctantly, as his lord is continuously thrown to the ground, knowing that he had no way of stopping his beast-like anger. Nobody around him said anything. They knew it was pointless.

After a dozen attempts, Cord finally stops running. He throws his axe to the ground and screams. The monstrous yell echoed across the barren mountains, sending shivers to every companion's spine.

Cord: "HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACE TO ME!!!"

Katarina: "Will you finally listen to me?"

Cord: ".....give me one reason why I should listen to anything you have to say..."

Katarina: "Because this is the closest you'' ever get to hearing my motives. Don't tell me you never cared why I betrayed you. I shouldn't even be here."

Cord: "There's nothing you can say that will make me ever forgive you!!!"

Katarina: "I don't expect to be forgiven. But I grow tired of hiding. I want to settle everything here once and for all."

Cord: "Rrrghh........"

Katarina: "...Cord. We both know that I'm an awful person. But, if you thought that I only ever married you for the sake of the organization, you'd be dead wrong. I never would've had the tolerance to go along with such a long plan if I had no feelings for you. By now, you know that we sought to replace you over time. I was to kill you and your loyal retainers, replacing them and other knights with those form our organization. Of course, this didn't work, because you're still here. Do you know why?"

Cord: "Why? WHY!? WHAT DOES F**KING MATTER WHY!? YOU SLAUGTHERED MY PEOPLE! YOU BETRAYED ME. YOU BETRAYED ALTEA! Don't you DARE tell me that you EVER loved me after what you've done! GGRAAGHH!"

He tries striking at Katarina once more, but fails.

Katarina: "*Sigh* It's always fighting with you, isn't it. Perhaps I should've been grateful you never beat me during our time together. But it wasn't good enough. You never listened to my problems, or gave me the attention or help I needed. If you still won't listen now, I'll have to make you listen right before I snuff the life out of you."

She snaps her fingers. A group of of enemies appear from behind her. Cord's allies ready themselves for battle. It's time for the chapter I dreaded to write about since Prologue 8.

yFzuvQB.png?1

The strat of using the arena to safely level up Bantu is becoming a lot more expensive, which I can't afford to throw willy nilly, especially now that I not only need to use Astram, but Sheema as well. But it's never enough. My units are too strong for a PMU challenge run, and now I'm being punished for my good growths. What I'm getting at is that I might have so really limit the arena uses so I can use the gold to afford all the stat boosters. This is the cheapest battle. Most are about 1100 gold.

3mWvXON.png?1

Bantu became 20 today, and i wanted to celebrate the occasion by giving him a very special level up. Before you ask, I'm not referring to his age. I'm not dumb. I know my dragon lore. He's actually 47.

Believe it or not, it took 20 attempts to get this level up. Not that the other 19 were awful. He got stats like speed and strength surprisingly often, but individualy. Normally, I'm totally fine with that, but since he can't promote for stat bonuses, I felt that it was fair to treat him just this once.

v1WW0w1.png?1

Here's a level up I really struggled not keeping. I still regret it to an extent, but I really want my speedwings going to other units. Also, with 15 speed and 13 defense, it only takes one dracoshield to have 2 15s. Both of which will be 20 eventually.

DmEqWgL.png?1

Better late than never, says those who love excuses to procrastinate. Her speed's pretty good compared to the rest of my team, but her strength is lacking quite a bit. But this can be remedied by her A rank bows, meaning she can wield Parthia. But more importantly, she got +1 magic. This helps tremendously.

LxusARy.png?1

Can you imagine a world where recruitable enemies received hard mode bonuses in this game? You shoudn't.

The enemies of this map will not approach you until you cross the tile where Marth, Norne, and Bord are at. The enemies here are revived warriors who function similarly to genome soldiers. They have stronger combat abilities, but have the eyesight of a rat.

Samto starts off the showdown from being the fastest gunslinger around town. This could be because he's the only gunslinger, but it's rude to downplay someone's accomplishments if they're proud of it.

While Bord could've used a silver axe to kill the berserker, I want to leave a kill for my guy Astram, so I use the opportunity to train his sword rank. A lot of this chapter involved orb swapping. The speed of these zerkers can vary from 21 to 22. With Samto having 23 speed and Bord having 24, they both need +2 speed to double, and the rainbow potions have mostly been reserved for Bantu, and now they're essentially the late draft items. Orb swapping is more fun than using a dlc item anyways.

VwKjk1A.png?1

Do you remember when Bord was the strong but slow fighter. Now he's just Belf. Their stats are nearly identical. Bord's still better though, given his +4 defense, much better weapon ranks, and his bandana. Belf will get his time though. I love the Sable Knights almost as much as the iconic Bord and Cord duo.

8mEMO5p.png?1

Bord got that level from landing a crit on the berserker, so I had to chip a different enemy to give Astram a kill.

0umclTA.png?1

Did you know that Old mystery, the Parthia shot explosive arrows? Man, I love this weapon. It could be my bias towards bows, but the Parthia is one of, if not my favorite weapon in the series. It's a golden legendary bow. It shoots explosives. It's a regalia weapon. You even get double xp using it in Old Mystery. It's the only regalia that wasn't redesigned at all for Awakening, because the devs knew it was too good for that.

Cord remembers that hydration is key, and he is more prepared for Katarina's magic assault from his healthy decision.

If there's one thing my army needs, it's a damn book. The accuracy of my team hinges on their literacy, and I'm in need of a dozen skill books.

If anyone says this accuracy is fine, you need to play a game with 1RN.

sr1TPmQ.png?1

A2BYClG.png?1

All it takes is an overpowered weapon and some stat boosts, but Norne can in fact, do things.

Uu1NCn7.png?1

Astram is too good for that though. All he needs is a fatally wounded enemy, and he's good to go.

QZfr6Qr.png?1

While Katarina is likely to attack Marth for having no res or drip, I made sure to check that Astram could survive both these enemies should they team up against him. Luckily, Astram barely avoids being doubled by the swordmaster...with the help of a rainbow potion, but that doesn't mean he's bad. He just needs some help in his life, like everyone does, and for some people, lethal drugs are that help.

JNYV5Ex.png?1

Being the [REDACTED] that she is, Katarina set up a suprise attack from behind should she be losing the fight. Bord was able to fend them off for a few seconds, then Norne came in the rescue. Both were suprised to find out just how strong these berserkers in particular are. These stats are akin to the zerkers in chapter 22. They're almost lvl 20. This is bad for my defending army

oxgYubg.png?1

m7utYuh.png?1

but a blessing for Astram. The xp they drop is extremely high. While strength would've been amazing, I'll settle for speed. He needs every point if he hopes to reach 30 speed. Aside from my horseman, he's the only unit capable of reaching 30 speed, which helps tremendously against the 26 speed fire dragons of the lategame.

6RtvIRB.png?1

Oh yeah. Norne got one too, I guess. But she's not a funny prepromote, so I don't care. Never steal attention again.

dNcpJ23.png?1

Belf weakens the berserker on enemy phase and takes way more damage that I was assuming. These guys are no joke.

1ZYN2vf.png?1

Yes, I weakened him for Astram. I don't care that Norne's lvl 2. Astram's basically lvl -8.

wU1gUVn.png?1

Gaining over 60 xp, Astram levels up a 2nd time, already catching up to most of my army in the luck department.

L38Mt93.png?1

As that was happening, Cord was trying to kill Katarina, but was blocked form the magical barrier from earlier. It was no longer throwing him back, but it blocked all attacks. This didn't stop from attacking in a state of blind rage. Katarina however, only attacked Marth. She always found him to be a creep during her time with Cord.

N11KXzE.png?1

By turn 6, Cord was beginning to feel exhausted. Fighting like this was pointless. He resorted to vulgar talking.

Cord: "Damn it all to hell! Why won't you die!?!?"

Katarina: "....."

Cord: "Answer me you b*****d!"

Katarina: "...The elite crusaders, Cord"

Cord: "What!?"

Katarina: "Mighty warriors who fought for this land centuries ago. A blood pact was made for them to gain the strength to fight Medeus then. But in the end, they still died like everyone else. I'm not going to lecture you on history, but know that we keep our eyes everywhere. Every single person is in our radar, and it has been for a very, very long time. To let such brave courageous people leave this world so soon, replaced by mediocre vermin, it's an insult to what our ancestors would've sought for in this world. So, we used our power to revive them, as dreadlords. They fight for our cause. We use the strong to forge our perfect world, and the intellectual to govern all kingdoms from within. You could call them undead spies of sorts."

Cord: "How about you shut the hell up with that bull***t and tell me how to kill you already!"

Katarina: "Simple, you would have to defeat all of them first. I placed bits of my soul in each of them. I am guarded until they fall, much like the King of liberation."

Cord: "The what!? Damn you! Enough! Where the hell are they!?"

Katarina: "You fool, a lot of them aren't even on this continent"

Cord: "What!?"

Katarina: "Why would I have warriors whose survival determine my life then bring them all to you? They're somewhere very far from your reach. Most of them anyways."

Cord: "You're telling me you're invincible!?"

Katarina: "Yes, as long as I choose to be. But...I...I grow weary of all this. Cord...there's nothing left for me. I don't give a rat's *** about this f**king goal. I used to. But now, I just want this all to end."

Cord: "Is that so? Then why do you come before me and cower with that shield!?"

Katarina: "I can't die. Not by any normal means. I cut myself and it heals. I jump off a cliff, and my bones recover. Sometimes, Kleine and the lord would use that to torture me knowing that I was immoral. They tested the effective of its power with me, before our leader bestowed that power of immortality to him."

Cord: "Then killing you now would be an act of mercy! You'll be lucky if I can chop your head off with my axe, but perhaps I'll get to see the effectiveness of that as I make you pay for what you've done!"

Katarina: "Cord, I came here to end this all, but not from your axe. I'll die the way I want to. Not from how you want, or from how the organization wants it. As I told you before, I'm not supposed to be here. They want me hiding at all times. They don't want you capturing me. I'm a tool to fuel your anger. But if you're done trying to blindly avenge your comrades, answer my question. Why do think you're still alive, when we clearly wanted you dead?"

Cord: "If you're hoping I'll say it's because you loved me, think again! You threw everything away for whatever this f**king organization wants outta you! I bet you were blindly following orders all this time! You just want to manipulate me like you did all this time!"

Katarina: "How many times must I tell you. I don't listen to them. Even when following orders, I barely do them. I agree with some of their cause, but even they're blinded by hatred, just like everyone else, Cord."

Cord: "....."

Katarina: "I suppose I'll simply tell you. The reason you stand here now, is because I brought you back."

Cord: ".....what did you just say?"

Katarina: "I'm the reason you get to continue breathing. I'm the one decided to bring you back to life."

Cord: "...no...no...shut up...shut the hell up! NO!"

Katarina: "My orders were to kill you and sabotage the kingdom from within. They never said that I couldn't bring you back."

Cord: "NO! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!"

Bord: "I've had enough of this bull****!" Don't listen to this b****, Cord! There's no proof she's telling the truth. Just tryna get in your head! Come on! Why would she kill ya, then bring ya back with all ya memories!? That's plain stupid!"

Katarina: "Of course you'd say that. To replace his memories would benefit the organization, and I don't want that. I want them to fail. I...I wanted to let Cord kill them off, then once he's done with that, I could kill him, then recreate him the way I want. Then we could rule over Archanea in our new world together!"

Bord: "What stopped ya from just doing that from the beginning? Kill him and take on the organization with him? You're full of ****!"

Katarina: "...I could say that doing so would be too risky, as it'd be easier to have Cord fight them with a full army, but honestly, I probably would've done so from the beginning. The only reason I didn't...was from blind rage. When I killed Cord...I brought him back...then killed him...again...and again."

Cord couldn't even respond. The world was spinning in his eyes. He fell on all fours. He grabbed his own head and began gasping, trying to hold himself from falling into complete insanity. His eyes blurred. His ears began ringing. His heart pumped sporadically.

Katarina: "Cord...I love you, and I hate you. Even now, I just want to hold you in my arms, but when I close my eyes, I can hear your screams, and I envision a knife planted onto your back. I suppose your lust for my death is something I can reciprocate with. Maybe your lust for blood rubbed off on me. Or maybe I was always like this, and some twisted part of me loved your insanity."

Bord: "Don't even think about comparing Cord to the likes of yourself!"

Katarina: "Cord...don't you remember all the fun times we had. All the promises we made? Ones that you never kept...you broke them first."

Bord: "What, you did all this just cuz you weren't satisfied with ya marriage! There's no justification for what you've done! You're a greedy ***** tryna get petty revenge!"

Katarina: "I know. I deserve to die. Everyday, my thoughts tell me so. Half of them...aren't even mine. I...I'm arguably a dead girl walking."

Bord: "You've gotta be kidding me!"

Katarina: "No, I didn't die, at least, not completely. I..."died" once. From an assault. My heart stopped beating momentarily. The organization used that moment to implant a few memories into me, before I was brought back to life, through regular means. Electricity, not their dark magic. My heart pumped again, but I was no longer the same woman I once was. Of course, they made me think that they were my saviors, and that I owe my life to them. Of course, later, I saw through their books and files, and found out that all of it was fabricated. A book with my own name, detailing my past life, and how I was "replaced". It was...painful to learn of. This wasn't until right before the day I was to execute Cord. Of course, they don't know that I know, so...I planned to get revenge...on everyone. Among those memories seemed to be random thoughts that would encourage suicide, but being...practically invincible, I'm forced to live with them. I clung to the thought that Cord could've remedied the pain with love. But he hardly gave a s**t. He just thought it was some "woman moment", and left me to wallow in my own misery. He never physically beat me, but the days we yelled, he'd emotionally abuse me. What little sanity i had was being crushed with every word he uttered from his wolf-like mouth. There were many nights where'd we'd be happy together. I'd always listen to his problems, his struggles and anxieties with leading his nation, but when he tried to do the same, he'd hardly put even a tenth of the effort...But I can get that maybe most of that isn't the worst thing in the word...maybe it's just how most kings are...or perhaps it's just a thing with most men. I wouldn't know. But on those days where'd I cry for help when those from the organization would torture me, he just looked at me like I was stupid. I felt like I was stabbed in the heart. I don't care that he didn't know just what had happened...but how could he not be there for me...how could he...I just wanted to be cared for...when will I ever get love from anyone...my parents laugh at me even after death...I can't escape them...But no. I guess Cord's just a tired king! He doesn't need to focus on me! His kingdom always comes first! The very one he hardly ever managed, and his f***king retainers did all the f**king work! Just lie to my face and promise me that you'll be there for me! Hug me and make false promises! And then it's MY fault when I destroy the castle rooms from anxiety attacks, but it's fine for YOU to destroy things in my presence! That doesn't bring back traumatizing memories at ALL! You might've defended me when others criticized the idea of our marriage, but I guess you couldn't be f****d to tell the guards not to belittle me for being the only female in the damn castle! You think I was fine knowing that everyone would stare at me and constantly tell me that I'm under their constant surveillance! I was happy when you beat one of the guards once for a rude comment, but once isn't good enough! You can't say and do one thing and think the issue is resolved! Buying me things won't solve my problems! You think I'm a **** for store bought items!? You think I'm that simple!? How coul you lie to me for the first 6 months and act so perfect!? I-I- I just want to carve my knife into you and tally every f**king thing that I've sufferd through! Maybe you'll learn my suffering through your own pain! I brought you back! I thought we could change Altea together. You told me you would! But you never did! I saw the fires that nearly drowned me as I killed you! The village, it screamed for more and more! I had to keep killing you! HOW DARE YOU YELL AT ME FOR BLIND REVENGE!? WE'RE BOTH MONSTERS! YOU RUINED ME! YOU MADE ME FALL FOR YOU AND DESTROYED ME! YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME! YOU MADE ME KILL YOU! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!.....and yet...I still love you...I don't even know why anymore. Maybe I'm just insane...maybe it doesn't even matter. I couldn't bring myself to keep you dead even if that's what I wanted. I hate you, I love you...I hate you...I love you...I was going to bring you back...as my lover. I just wanted the organization out of the way. I wanted you to help me, just as you said you would've anytime I needed it. Is that so much to ask for? I.....I still want you by my side."

Cord: ".....perhaps, we were wrong about you."

Katarina: "Really!? Do my words finally make sense?"

Cord: "You're not greedy..."

Cord approaches Katarina slowly, without his weapons, holding his hands out. Katarina approaches him almost in a desperate manner, with tears flowing from her eyes as she opens her arm for a hug. They embrace one another. Katarina clings to him and cries, while Cord holds her gently.

Cord: ".....you're batshit insane!"

Katarina: "Wha-!"

Cord grabs her and tosses her into a spiky end of a rocky start to a mountain. He quickly rushes to her and tries to choke her. Katarina looks into Cord's eyes with an expression of anguish and betrayal. He continues pressing his thumbs heavily against her neck, but she makes no noises in response, other than the sounds of her sorrow coming from what Cord had just done. After half a minute, she suddenly grabs Cord's arms and easily pulls them off. Before Cord could react, she punched his chin and he flew 15 feet in the air. Right before he landed, she kicked him in the chest, and he is sent flying to the northern mountains, crashing in the nidst of its rocky path before he tumbles into the bottom where she approached him once more. A few of Cord's men tried to stop her but she shoved them aside as if they were insects, and they get thrown to the ground with broken ribs.

Katarina: ".....Cord."

Cord couldn't make any response. All that came out of his mouth were coughs of blood. He could hardly move a muscle. Katarina picks him up, and embraces him just as before. She leans into his ear and whispers

Katarina: "I found a way where we can both be happy. You want me to die. So...I'll die for you. Not even the organization knew about a way to kill me. They thought they tested everything. But...only my outer body is powerful. On the inside, I'm the same fragile woman you once knew. You've always known the fire that burns in my heart. I still remember the times you complimented and praised me for my passions...Cord. Let us go together. Goodbye, my love."

It was at this moment that Katarina burst into flames. She forcefully clings onto Cord, preventing him from letting go as she burns. Every bit of her was set ablaze. Her hair, her eyes, her skin, her organs, her bones. It was the extreme layers of flames from inside that cause it to burn outside of her eye sockets, setting fire to the rest of her body that struggled to maintain her immortality, as her heart begins to physically melt. Cord screams in agonizing pain, as the flames begin to peel his skin away. Katarina's hold was still too strong. He felt his bones crushing each time he struggled, and his head was forced to stare into Katarina's eyes as they stare into him while fire flows from the corners of them and through the nose. She made no noise whatsoever, but stared passionately at Cord as she slowly begins to turn to ash from the flames. Before he could see either of them die, his vision fades to black from the pain.

I think I heard about the bot invasion. TF2 will be the one thing future space races will find when exploring Earth after humanity has destroyed itself as a result of Nintendo porting all their classic games on limited time offerings.

It'll be the final two human beings on Earth yelling slurs at each other on a community server, and a self-sustaining, Skynet-like supercomputer filling the rest of the servers with bots. That's what the aliens will find.

Yes, that's an argument all right.

Wait who's presumably fast pink outfit man?

5 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

Yeah, he's been far too useful. Like, dang. I really could just warp the guy to the throne with a pure water, and he'd be fine. He's like a slightly worse version of my Caesar, but realistically speaking, no one except maybe Kris will ever reach that status. I gotta put him on my sig when I'm not too lazy.

Two people with Axebello in their sig. Now that's mission accomplished if I ever saw one.

I like ya, even if you're ridiculously unbalanced.

I've never understood why so many people use the spotpass characters to trash on Awakening's story. Don't get me wrong, Awakening's story is perfectly trashable, but people are like "Emmeryn's sacrifice is completely ruined by her survival!" and I'm like... Dude, that's a paralogue that's literally only unlocked right before endgame and is clearly intended as a little fanservice indulgence for those who want a "what if" in which these people survive. I think it's pretty cute, honestly.

Otherwise, yes, agreed with everything. Gangrel is a gem. I stopped paying attention to the story after he died because I simply couldn't care.

This chapter is 90% dialogue, and only a bit of it is funny. Honestly felt a bit dark and weird for what I'm used to, but ya gotta try new things everyday I suppose.

I get the feeling. I too started writing funny things for my LPs but it quickly became dark drama for no good reason.

Bantu became 20 today, and i wanted to celebrate the occasion by giving him a very special level up. Before you ask, I'm not referring to his age. I'm not dumb. I know my dragon lore. He's actually 47.

v1WW0w1.png?1

Here's a level up I really struggled not keeping. I still regret it to an extent, but I really want my speedwings going to other units. Also, with 15 speed and 13 defense, it only takes one dracoshield to have 2 15s. Both of which will be 20 eventually.

I still love that this guy is with us.

That point of magic will save all our lives one day. Just watch.

I just wanted the organization out of the way. I wanted you to help me, just as you said you would've anytime I needed it. Is that so much to ask for? I.....I still want you by my side."

Whoa, that's a paragraph... You really are getting serious with this story, aren't you?

Cord: ".....you're batshit insane!"

Katarina: "Wha-!"

It was at this moment that Katarina burst into flames.

Guess Flora's her second name.

5 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

Damn. Fair enough I suppose. Specifically, it's fair enough for you. I just see you doing that for a lot of things, no offense intended.

I personally like Awakening's story quite a bit. I always found people to be too harsh on the Valm arc. And I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't intrigued by some of the Grima stuff that happens in arc 3. It's not spectacular, but neither are the plots of most FE's. Then again, I always had this odd soft spot for Awakening in particular, and I don't know why. Like, I enjoy playing 3 Houses, but I also trash talking it a lot for the obvious flaws it has. You'd think I'd do that for Awakening, but I'm more like "Yeah, I like this", and that's it. It's not nostalgia. This wasn't my first FE. It didn't even get me back in the series. It just has some charm that makes me enjoy it. I hate it! I'm supposed to be the skeleton that insults everything!

Old Mystery can be pretty fun. It's only NESFE that really grinds my gears from old jank. Now I can claim to be the true Mystery/Archanea series fan from enjoying both versions. Also because I own cipher cards of Archanea characters. And the legacy collection. Really, I'm just missing an actual falchion so I can go stab lizards in public areas.

Chapter 17: Gra Gaming

Spoiler
Spoiler

I swear, this will be the last serious dialogue bit for a while.

Bord: "COOOOORRD!!!"

After what felt like an eternity of anguish in the depths of hellfire, Cord falls to the ground. Katarina seemed to have withered away completely, while what remained of Cord scarred the minds of all who witnessed the tragedy that fell before them. Bord passes out, as this was all too much for him to handle. The others were to mortified to move.

Belf: "CORD!!! I-I-DAMN IT! DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!"

Norne: "Oh dear gods no..."

Bantu says nothing. He simply looks down in sorrow.

Marth: "Thi-This can't be...this can't be happening..."

Astram: ".....hmph."

Samto: "Damn...this is the worst barbeque I've ever been in..."

Everyone begins to lose their minds, as none of them wanted to accept the idea of Cord's death, aside from Astram, who silently ponders to himself. After several minutes have gone by, the area becomes quite. Everyone looks at each other silently, now lost at what to do. That was, until they heard footsteps coming from the distance.

Wrys: "...I really hope it wouldn't have come to this."

Belf: 'Wrys! You're a healer! Surely there's a way to save him! There has to be!"

Wrys: "There are...two ways...for someone to be brought back from the dead. One of them is through the Aum staff, a divine staff blessed with the ability to revive one person."

Marth: "Then we just need to find it!"

Wrys: "No...that won't work. Only a select few would be able to wield it. I...am not one of those people. None of us are. Even if we were to find someone who fits that category, nobody knows where that staff is."

Marth: "Then tell me the other way!"

Wrys: "Must you even ask? I think we all know the only other solution. It's what the enemy has been using all this time. Rather than using the blessings of the Gods, they utilize more unholy methods. You could see it as the sinful equivalent, or its opposite."

Belf: "...well then, the plan seems simple. We just find the leader and force them to bring him back!"

Wrys: "...Do you truly wish to resort so such a crime against life?"

Belf: "His life was unjustly robbed! We cannot allow this to simply carry out! It's exactly what the enemy wants! Altea needs him!"

Marth: "I...I can't believe it. This...this all really just happened.'

Wrys: "If that is what you wish for, then we cannot allow anyone to find out of Cord's demise, other than our most trusted fighters. We must fight Hardin while concealing this information. Unfortunately, Cord Castle will have to wait just a while longer without a king to rule over it, but there is nothing we can do about that. Marth, you will have to lead the army."

Marth: ".....I'll do what I must."

Marth rests with his army for roughly a week before heading out to bring the fight to Hardin's doorstep, in which everyone learnt of what had happened in the last battle. The next day, Marth makes his way to Gra, as it would lead to the 2nd fastest route to Archanea's capitol, through the ships that sail through trade routes to there. The actual fastes route would simply be to fly there through wyvern riding, but Marth would sooner burn in hell than ask for the aide of Macedon.

Warren decides to stay back to command the guards at Cord Castle and serve as chapter 16's boss unit should anyone attempt to invade them again. He was also tasked with making sure that no one would discover Cord's corpse in the meantime. Right before everyone set off to war however, Belf had one last talk with him.

Belf: "Warren."

Warren: "Something you need, friend?"

Belf: "Well, I recently began asking around for information. Mostly about Bord."

Warren: "Is this about my beef with the b*****d?"

Belf: "To an extent, yes. I was curious on something. Even before our meeting with Gotoh, you were convinced that Bord was dead and was revived. Now, Bord himself still seems to refuse that. As a matter of fact, I recall that others claimed that when Cord was reunited with Bord back at Macedon, he stated that he survived the events of the war of taxes through...miracle I believe. I thought he was referring to divine intervention, but it seemed to be more of some power that prevents a fatal blow."

Warren: "Yeah, I was there. Don't believe it though. He said that it was from Roshea, but that boy had less than 6 magic at the time. They didn't have the power to bestow anything of that degree. In a world where people can be brought back to life, who's to say that he wasn't revived? The fact that the organization can choose what memories to place into the person only confirmed my suspicions. They obviously want him to believe he's fine, so they gave him a false memory of survival."

Belf: "But, that can't be so. After the fight with the IRS, Bord went to live in a small home in Macedon to recover from his wounds. The house was given to him by...Wrys."

Warren: "Yes...the old man who just so happens to be one of the only sorcerers in this entire continent. Your pause tells me even you see how suspicious he has become. You wanna know the main reason why I knew Bord was dead? Wrys literally said so himself, back when we were in that fire dungeon with Darros. He theorized that Catria and Bord seemed to have become stronger in that place because we might've been in hell, and they were coincidentally the ones who have died. There was no hesitation. He said it as if it was a fact, despite Bord saying otherwise. Of course, Bord being alive or dead doesn't really matter anymore, does it? Over half of our army joke about him being a walking ghost. Many don't even believe that story. Really, it should be a reason to focus on the old man. There's obviously more to him. How did he even know of what happened when you were back at Mountain mayhem where you were last with Cord? No one was to follow you there. Everyone waited inside the castle, except for him. Some people just seem to be fine giving him the slip, just because he's old. An old man might be wise, but Wrys knows far more than any standard curate should know."

Belf: "You must've been thinking quite long and hard about all this."

Warren: "I could keep going on, but you have a journey to go to. Besides, I still need to organize my thoughts some more. If I find out anything, I'll try sending you a letter about it. You do the same if anything with that man happens on your end, alright?"

Belf: "I will."

Warren: "Thanks. Good luck out there. Don't die on me now, you hear?"

Belf: "I'll make it through this alive. I'll make sure we all survive through this."

Warren: "Everyone...you're a kind person, Belf. Although, if it isn't too much to ask, could you keep an eye on Catria? I know you want no casualties, but...I'd appreciate if you placed some degree of priority on her safety for me."

Belf: "Have no fear. She'll make it out alive. I'll make sure of it."

Warren: "Thanks again. Hey, when this is all over, we should go out and do something fun. Maybe grab a beer, play some games, or go hunting in the woods together if that's your style. Maybe do all 3 at the same time. I've done that before."

Belf: "I would like that quite a lot. Well, I'm not so sure about hunting, but it's always nice to try out new things with friends. I've always been curious about bows and its craftsmanship."

Astram: "You two seem to get along well."

Belf: "What the! Astram...how long were you eavesdropping?"

Astram: "Long enough..."

Warren: "What, are you afraid that we're plotting something sinister? As if you have a right to talk."

Astram: "I have nothing to hide. But from what you've said, someone else here does. It doesn't matter to me. Belf, we're leaving. Don't be late."

Belf: "I'm well aware of that...now get out of my sight! I can't stand to look at a man who holds no empathy for the death of our king! Your own employer!"

Astram: "I only follow Marth's command. Who he serves is none of my concern. As for Cord...he got what was coming to him..."

Warren: "....."

Astram: "Warren, you share a similar feeling. Is it not natural to hold resentment against one who has slaughtered those they care for? Besides, I never once said that I was going to kill him. I was simply lucky enough to witness karma enact justice. Now I can fufill my contract with Marth in peace and move on. Perhaps you'll feel at peace too once Bord is out of the picture. Best of luck to you..."

Astram begins to walk away.

Belf: "We'll bring Cord back! And we won't let you harm him then!"

Astram: "...hmph. That won't be necessary."

Astram leaves.

Warren: "Don't let him get to you. But seriously, you should go. Don't wanna get left behind."

Belf: "Yes, I suppose you're right. Farewell Warren. May the Queen bless us all."

Warren: ".....are you sure you're not British?"

Later...

Marth: "Finally, we're at the capitol of Gra. Bord, all you have to do is tell the princess of Gra that we need to borrow their ships so we could head to Archanea to wipe out Hardin for good."

Bord: "What? Screw you. You do it! You're the boss here. You know more about this place than I do."

Marth: "Ergh, that's true but..."

Bord: "What, you got a crush on the queen of Gra?"

Marth: "...she's my stepmother...***hole."

Bord: "Oh...Ah crap. Well, that's more of a reason you gotta ask! Surely, she'll be okay with it if you're the one asking, unless they hate ya...which wouldn't actually suprise me."

Marth: "No. It's just...I dunno. It's weird, you know?"

Bord: "Not really."

Marth: "Fine fine, I'll do the talking. Let's just get this over with already."

They did not get it over with already, as the Archanean army was prepared for their arrival. They knew that Marth's army would attempt to ask Gra for assistance, so they surrounded the capitol ahead of time and forced the soldiers of Gra to obey them. The queen was in no position to fight them back, so she had no choice but to let Archanea use soldiers of Gra as a trap. Their idea is that by placing unwilling soldiers into battle, Marth's army would hesitate to fight them, as doing so would be a war crime, which is something that never happens. What they didn't know is that Marth could just walk past them.

This map really isn't that hard.

z4v2yZO.png?1

As Ruben has been bringing up, Astram's odds of capping speed is nearly impossible without a speedwing. As such, I feel that this is a necessity. Bantu isn't in an urgent need of feathers, and I still have one more should I decide that Frost needs it.

aRrOjvn.png?1

To quote from a beloved piece of film, "anyone can cook". Astram's specialty is serving a** kicking.

Not to brag, but I want to brag a bit about my unit positioning not being completely stupid this time around. It matters quite a bit in the first few turns of this chapter.

h2xN6zR.png?1

The warriors have a chance of randomizing their speed to be 22, or for their defense to be 10. Luckily, none of that matters for Astram once he got high on rainbow, since he gains +1 might from the weapon triangle advantage while having an A rank in swords, meaning he won't need to use his iconic Mercurius that IS shamelessly gives to Ogma instead.

pJQ0ijT.png?1

As many fans of cheese know, there is a thief south of this hall who is trying to get away with a presumably stolen nosferatu tome. While difficult to apprehend through violent murder given how he immediately heads southwest, it's often worth going after them so you can break the late game, but unless I'm mistaken, Frost isn't a girl. I still go for the thief though, because stealing from Gra when they're in such a struggling state is beyond disgusting, and I get about 1000 gold from not giving it back to them.

5UuHX73.png?1

Catria lands a critical hit, because of course she does, and gets an insane level up, because of course she does.

EiSw4d1.png?1

Bantu sets the wounded sniper on fire, and is rewarded with 14xp, despite being the equivalent of a lvl 1 promoted unit. I'm starting to see the downsides of making a dragon be a long tern unit only now.

Jf2wh6u.png?1

While the rest of the army heads both west and east, Yubisquick blocks the mid castle walls so these warriors don't distract us from what's important in life.

foUtWUl.png?1

I purposely avoid giving Yubanang a strong weapon because the last thing I want to do at this point is waste a kill.

PD3z99o.png?1

Unfortunately, I did waste a firestone use simply from being attacked. It's not a problem though, as I have more than enough stones to make it by.

 NXzVfrc.png?1

Matthis has been doing a great job dealing chip damage with his massive strength. Bantu thanks him by slaying the dracoknight with a Matthisbane.

NO5I3aO.png?1

Although most dracoknights at this point will have the capped speed of 23, it is rare for them to spawn with 22 in maniac, allowing for Norne to snipe them without wasting the Parthia. I always found it interesting that this class has such a high speed growth, but has a pretty poor cap. It's like they just gave up trying after seeing their early accomplishments. IS is presenting a message about how you can always fall off at any point, so don't stop on the grind even after you've succeeded in your goals. It must be maintained. If only they took their own advice since making Fates' gameplay.

pNv1a8j.png?1

Samto busts a cap in the Warrior's silver skull, shooting through Yubiscuit in process. His defense pulled through though, and the minor hole in his chest can be remedied with a vulnerary.

I love axes. I love games that let me use axes without repercussion. I'm simple like that. FE games that give me accurate axes make me smile.

LRbwogL.png?1

Astram was kind enough to give Catria the starsphere, mostly out of fear that'd he'd get sphere cancer, and she had enough speed to double the ruffian who probably stole a valuable tome.

I feel like noting that you get just enough space to reach the thief when moving 9 out of 10 tiles south on turn 1. Use all 10, and you risk the enemy sniper attacking you in a position that would block you from progressing altogether. New Mystery likes to be funny every now and then.

tj1P3xa.png?1

Once you cross a certain line in this hall, 3 wyvern riders will appear from the east. The exact area of the line seems to vary on the difficulty, but you'll generally cross it when trying to slay the thief on turn 2, assuming you're not insane and let them go. I prepare for this by having Belf shield Astram from too much harm. His defense isn't great, but if memory serves me right, none of them have ranged weapons. I should be fine.

zxX14zK.png?1

For a brief second, the thought of landing a crit came to mind, and I was terrified of the possibility. No one wants to go through the pain of redoing 2 entire turns. Luckily, I'm not lucky.

y5U2bNo.png?1

The enemy should be grateful that I don't have Heirs of Fate 6.

35h7dKq.png?1

I should be grateful that this isn't FE7.

elnVV8s.png?1

Norne should be grateful that I haven't benched her.

7Crunp2.png?1

I just realized that this person used a killer lance against a guy with bad luck. I was luckier than I initially thought.

3YGtjdX.png?1

alb51A7.png?1

Orb trading strats pull through once again. This is peak gameplay you're seeing. If you don't find it interesting, you should see a doctor to find out exactly what's wrong with you.

bO5Y807.png?1

You might be thinking that Bord and Yubipedal chipped the dracoknight's health away for Astram, but what you didn't know is that Astram proc'd his movement star bonus 3 times in a row.

RVMBxSE.png?1

By turn 4, another thief appears and tries to destroy an innocent town. They pleaded that they were simply returning to their home after a long journey at some ice palace, but I didn't give them the opportunity to pull any fast ones.

NgrTYZo.png?1

Belf takes a hit during the enemy phase and has reached 50 HP. I was hoping for speed to see some greens, but this is fine too.

5FkSr8V.png?1

If only I had B rank bows, so I could rant about not being able to use them due to it not being a gun. Speed = ? suggested that I forge a silver bow and name it after a rocket launcher, but I hesitate at the mere idea, as it would cost a fortune, money that I can use to buy stat boosters. Eh, I'll probably do it anyways, but don't get mad at me when I lose the money for the Frost Fund. Only I can get mad at you people.

rUyGhMM.png?1

QglPXkn.png?1

Samto, that's a great level up. But...can you get skill?

The real reason I'm in need of a silver bow is the accuracy, just like with Matthis. Even Bantu needs accuracy. You guys really just handed me the most visually impaired units for laughs. Jokes on you. Most misses go unrecorded from save circles or from turn 1 misses. You don't get to see me resetting the map 4 times here because Matthis couldn't land a hit on the first sniper.

ldAEtmG.png?1

DFXAnSt.png?1

Hard work and dedication does get rewarded after all. Sophia made me forget that.

vPVHkWv.png?1

Bantu slowly works his way onto his next drill grounds level up

except he isn't, because I missed. I now have to surround him as to not let this sniper go to waste.

AHeTfrx.png?1

After enough heals, Wrys retains his title as Speedwrys. With only 2 more levels left in him, he is basically the new Gotoh. Frost will be the growth unit, and Sheema will be the forgotten middle child.

wjHGF9t.png?1

On turn 7, Samto opens a door and is greeted with an axe man. The silver sword was enough to kill them, but I turned my brain off at this point, as the map becomes pretty calm from this point until you open the door to Sheema's room, which won't be for at least another 20 turns. Don't worry. There was a save circle nearby. I can't be punished from a crit.

3YR5xW0.png?1

Gacha games have you lured into spending money on virtual possessions. Looting chests have you simply kill its owner and you don't have to spend a dime. What could be in the chest? Who knows? But there's no unhealthy risks from partaking in chest robbing, as you're really just getting free xp on the side.

XtC7Ftf.png?1

After 2 consecutive misses, the sniper gives up on trying to tire out Bantu. The terror of his situation got the better of him, and I finally get the Bantu xp. It wasn't worth it.

By turn 12 Marth enters the northwest village, which was a mistake to do now, because I forgot to have him go to the chests where Astram is. Now I have to run all the way back there afterwards, then keep running to the center where he can begin raiding the inner walls of Gra's main castle.

i8YhfN0.png?1

For once, a good thing happens for Marth.

There is no joke. Marth just has a good time. How can you say no to an angelic robe?

HJkWa9K.png?1

By turn 14, I choose to lure out the last of the enemies outside the throne room. I waited until a majority of my team grouped up and was healed before doing so, but now I'm just getting bored.

On the following turn, Bord and Matthis chip the 2 enemies and they both receive a level up.

H1lbgaN.png?1

"They call me Usain Bord."

UzUvHmF.png?1

And with that, Matthis is now worthless.

Everyone knows that once a unit caps all their main stats, training them further would be a waste of experience. I know my Fire Emblem tactics. It's the bench for him. You can't object to this, or you'll out yourself as a bad strategist.

0QBdZeh.png?1

72iF2cU.png?1

Every kill counts.

While Norne's strength is underwhelming, her great speed (and the fact that she is one of my only units whose class gives her such a high speed cap) makes her worth investing more in. Warren is basically benched for the rest of the run, so I hope you won't miss him too much. Miss him somewhat though. You'll hurt our feelings otherwise.

AkIfjyY.png?1

When I said that it would take at least 20 turns until I open the main door, I lied. It was 18 turns. Has the series taught you nothing? Trust nobody.

I placed Catria to choke the point because my other tanks were blocking the west zone, and I wanted to try something new. Catria survives 2 hits, and she isn't strong enough to kill a warrior, so they'd block the other one. I should be fine.

UXqoAUJ.png?1

Apparently, the other sniper could reach her with a longbow. I was certain that the range didn't cover where she was standing, but my eyesight just isn't what it used to be. I was lucky enough to dodge an attack from one of the enemies, so I was spared. You might say that I didn't get punished, but I say that the game itself was simping for Catria and didn't want her to die.

8FDMIiV.png?1

Why are you getting defense? Stop that.

jeCE16M.png?1

As soon as the door was opened, an alarm went off, alerting various dracoknights of Archenea. They try to surround me, but I was prepared. Too prepared. Yubananaslamma landed a crit on one of the wyverns, which saddened me greatly.

GdPkPGC.png?1

Of course. Of course you cap defense, but STILL don't get strength.

RsAOcb0.png?1

For perceptive viewers of the LP, you've likely noticed the sheer amount of forged Matthislayers that the mid-late game throws at you. They do not want you tanking so easily. However, IS had absolutely nothing planned for those who use Bantu because they never thought anyone in their right mind would attempt to use him this far into the game. Enemies never use dragonpikes in this game, so Bantu's chilling.

BingyEl.png?1

jJTWESe.png?1

xFhJEF0.png?1

w7pp5dt.png?1

Every single one of these units traded the starsphere to get the w.

Samto and Bord needed the speed to double them, and Norne needed the strength to not waste a decent bow. I don't have anything funny to add here. I just wanted to point out the amount of times that orb swapping has come in clutch.

1YNnMoE.png?1

I needed to make room for Matthis, but this game insists that I stop using armor knights. Now tell me. If armors suck, why are they trying so hard to nerf them? I would say checkmate, but everyone would think I'm making a quirky Awakening reference, and we can't have that.

vu1J7T9.png?1

Astram doesn't even need the orb to 1RKO anymore. Sure, he's running on rainbow adrenaline, but so am I.

NjCZgm9.png?1

Wrys nearly shatters into pieces on enemy phase, but you know what they say. What doesn't kill you places you under extreme hospital debt.

yV5KtMq.png?2

My happiness hinges on whether Wrys reaches 20 magic on lvl 20.

rn8z0yF.png?1

With the enemy forces completely wiped out, Marth makes his way to inform Sheema of the situation, but Astram saw her and Samson as just another enemy to take care of.

AU7F48U.png?1

Astram has more strength than Norne, and I have more faith in my favoritism of units.

At last. 36 turns in this map, Marth confronts Sheema so he can let her know that the Archaneans won't be able to harm them anymore, until they inevitably send another batch of enemies to destroy Gra, but it's more important to worry about the now.

JqAQsOE.png?1

Marth: "Sheema..."

Sheema: "Well what brings you here now?"

Marth: "I mean...we're just trying to get to Archanea. Then we got attacked. So...now we're here."

Sheema: "I see..."

Marth: "...can we...use one of your ships to sail to Archanean territory quicker?"

Sheema: "Well you already slaughtered the people who prevented us from using the ships, so...I guess."

Marth: "Cool..."

Sheema: "....."

Marth: "...well bye then."

Samson: "Hey, come on Marth me boy! It's been years since we've seen each other. Why not give us a hug?"

Marth: "Dad...please..."

Sheema: "It's fine Sammy, really."

Samson: "What's the matter with you two? It's always gotta be me that tries to bring us all together. Please, I want this to work for us all. I know me and Sheema, our whole relationship came outta nowhere. I get that you might not like her much at first, but it's been some time since, my boy! Once this war is all done with, we should all go on a vacation!"

Sheema: "You know neither of us can just leave our position like that. We all carry heavy roles."

Marth: "Yeah, and...I think I'd rather just...do my own thing. I'm not 10. Be with whoever you want. Can I just not be involved?"

Samson: "Marth, this is family we're talking about. You don't just abandon that!"

Sheema: "I mean, I'm okay with that."

Samson: "Oi! Is a happy family too much to ask for? Pushing each other away is only gonna make things worse for us all. Just give each other more of a chance!"

Marth: "Hey, it's not like that. I don't hate her. It's just...I dunno."

Sheema: "I really don't care all that much to be honest."

Marth: "Yeah, it's not a big deal."

Samson: "Oh, so you just happen to look really uncomfortable."

Marth: "You're causing a scene! Everyone's watching us!"

Samson can be seen in the distance with a **** eating grin.

Samson: "Well I guess I'll just have to make a deal. You want to use our ships, take Sheema with you. Get some Mother-Son time while fighting the good fight!"

Sheema and Marth: "Ex-f**king-cuse me?"

Samson: "It'll be great! I'll stay behind and take care of Gra until ya return. If any Archaneans show up, I'll keep them busy with tales of my glory days!"

Sheema: "As if you get to decide what I do!"

Samson: "Maybe I can't, but I can spend the next couple of hours telling you all my jokes."

Sheema: "Damn you Sammy! Fine, I'll go if it'll ease you. I suppose I am being a bit crude. I just...I care about my people. Gra needs me, and without Gra, I am nothing."

Samson: "I know that. You're the ruler this nation needs. Everyone is grateful for your services. Heck, I was at a pub once, and me and 2 other dudes started swinging our clothes around once while saying "praise the queen!" like those silly brits! Ahahahah! It might've been mainly for laughs, but I know we meant it when saying that we all admire you."

Sheema: "....."

Marth: "....."

Samson: "Err, anyways. I think Marth needs all the support he can get, and I think you two could provide great support to each other, both emotionally, and a** kickingly so too! You two will be known as "The Archanean Annihilators"! Besides, you deserve a break from all this political struggle. I know you love your people, but I can see the stress all this puts you through, especially now. What better way to relieve that stress than to stab some reds with that lance that hasn't seen action in years!"

Sheema: "...I guess you're right. Well, I guess...let's get moving, Marth."

Marth: "...yeah."

Sheema hesitantly joins the party

Just found this thread and its looking real interesting so far, I'll try to keep up.

Yubello, like Dice, is another character that got nerf to his growths in FE12, his FE3 counterpart had 50% attack, the highest attack out of any magic user and a whopping 30% more attack growth than both Merric and Linda

This is still at a pipe dream stage, but I'd like to rebalance FE12 some day. One of my biggest ideas is making dragonstones repairable at armories, but I don't know if thats possible with the current hacking tools.

No, Yubello.

Realistically, I'm more likely to put Matthis from FE11 as my sig. Those stats were something else. Surely you'd enjoy 2 people with capped Matthi?

Okay, I'm fine with this.

11 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

Damn. Fair enough I suppose. Specifically, it's fair enough for you. I just see you doing that for a lot of things, no offense intended.

Actually, I've almost never done that. I tend to pay attention to all game stories, at least in my first run. Awakening is one of the very few that was so utterly terrible that I completely lost interest.

Then again, that was the entire game. The only reason I beat it was that it was so hilariously easy that I ended up challenging myself to beating all I had left of the game in one day by soloing it with Wyvern Panne and Gregor. Beat like 15 chapters in one day, slaughtering the entire playable cast while at it. Fun time.

11 hours ago, Shaky Jones said:

Well, I wouldn't know. I stopped reading after Gangrel's death. I will just say that the Hierarch thing was probably the dumbest moment of writing I've seen in all of Fire Emblem. Like, holy shit, the sheer incompetence in two scenes. Random-ass guy shows up out of nowhere, claims to be an old friend and advisor to Emmeryn... Then betrays the group after a single line of dialogue, accomplishes absolutely nothing and dies, never to be mentioned again.

To this day, I don't understand why they did that. What was the point?

As Ruben has been bringing up, Astram's odds of capping speed is nearly impossible without a speedwing. As such, I feel that this is a necessity. Bantu isn't in an urgent need of feathers, and I still have one more should I decide that Frost needs it.

You're making more use of the base shop statboosters than I have in my entire life's worth of FE12 runs. PMU really does shit to a man...

Oh yeah, the big thing is that the other mages got magic growth buffs to his level, so his magic growth is no longer uniquely high.

Mage base stats were actually lower in the original Mystery of the Emblem compared to the remake, they really should've buffed Yubello's growths to fit in with the new mage base stats instead of giving him negative base stats.

Also supports were rare in FE3 and Yubello was one of the few characters to have one. Maybe FE12 could've given him more supports as a small bone, like with fellow Grustians such as Mallisia, Jake and Roger or the sable order?

If I can join in on the Gangrel discussion, my problem was his motivations weren't clear and the Walhart connection was weird.

Fun time.

I mean, solo'ing is the easiest way to beat the game, not a challenge run. Game design.

Yeah, I'm pretty similar. I'll try paying attention to the plot the firs time around, but for many games, it doesn't matter to me on repeat playthroughs.

What was the point?

i cannot remember what you're talking about at all, and I've played this game 3 times. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.

In a way, it was the exact intention. In FE3, Linde has 2 magic with a 20% magic growth. Merric starts with more, but he also only has a 20% magic growth. Because of this, Yubello's 50% was a major boost, and his 1 magic was only 1 less than Linde, and the difference in their join time is minimal. The main advantage Merric and Linde have their exclusive tomes, Aura and Excalibur, whereas Yubello has no strong tome of his own. In FE12 though, the other mages have been scaled up, as many things have for the remake, but Yubello's magic remained the same. Because of class stats, this made Yubello technically have -2 magic, which is hilarious. As such, Yubello is often better as a physical unit, as his defense growth is surprisingly high for a mage, and he isn't really getting much out of being a mage anyways. Even in FE Cipher, Yubello is shown as a Hero unit in his lvl 4 promoted card, rather than a sage.

I'm not a major story guy, but I liked the idea of Gangrel wanting revenge/vengeance for how the previous king of Ylisse basically committed mass genocide on Plegia. In a way, the story not being super up front about Gangrel's exact motives feels like a good thing. It lets players try deciphering the setting of the game and the context of history. I prefer this over him just walking up to you and throwing a 4 minute exposition dump of why he hates you so much. I know there's moments the game wll give you more of his backstory, but I can't quite remember them at the moment and I don't plan to brush up my Awakening knowledge. But I dunno. I liked the Walhart connection.

Chapter 18: Attack of the Furries

Spoiler

With Sheema unfortunately traveling with Marth, the Altean army proceeds to travel to Archanea by boat. After several awful boat maps, they finally arrive to the port of Archanea, somewhat close to the capital. Many of the enemies do not immediately prepare for their assault, as most of them believe the only people in the ship are Gra's usual suppliers. Waiting for them was the Wolfguard brigade, one of Hardin's most mediocre platoons. Once they saw Marth coming out of the ship after Sheema did, they prepare to rush them in an all out assault. What they didn't know is that they suck, so this will be easy.

Spoiler

But before they were discovered, they briefly encountered an old man.

Frost: "Oh thank the Gods! I've finally found you!"

Marth pulls out his sword, assuming he's an enemy.

Frost: "Prince Marth, please! I am an ally. Well, I suppose I'm technically not until you accept my help, but I certainly do not wish to harm you! Not after you've saved my family back at Macedon!"

Marth: "Oh...we did?"

Frost: "Yes, yes! I was crying tears of joy when you rid those vicious tyrants from our land. Many of them were blackmailing my family. One of my grandchildren is obsessed with a certain game series, but then those dastards added a gacha mechanic to it, and they were unable to stop themselves from falling into an addiction. We're too poor to handle such a thing!"

Marth: "So, it's just gamer stuff then...Well, you're welcome I guess. But, how did you get here?"

Frost: "Simple. I kept trying to follow you to give my thanks. Of course, you're all such busy fellows trying to save your kingdom. Such selfless people like you are what we need more of. I do hope future generations can pick up where we've failed to. Recently, I swam to reach you in Gra, but then you took a boat to Archanea, so I swam here too, and now here we are!"

Marth: "You...swam? Oh my Gods..."

Frost: "It would be an honor if you allowed me to accompany you. I must repay you for saving my family. They mean everything to me, just as your people mean everything to you."

Marth: "Uhh, yeah. Thanks."

Yublazingblade:  "Please tell me this one won't be insane, please please please..."

VH4WmWq.png?1

Holy s**t.

I did not rig this level. This literally just happened on my first try.

6PIdFf7.png?1

At long last, the books I ordered have arrived. Except it was only one because the local amazon truck was raided by college students. While several people in my team could use one, I decide that Bantu needs the skill points the most. He doesn't even has triple digit hit rates, and at least Matthis can use silver weapons with 90 hit.

AdsjkPD.png?1

Samto starts off the map with his 0th kill this run, because it wasn't him that killed the paladin. It was his gun. Taking responsibility is for chumps who succumb to guilt.

u4UB8kJ.png?1

By now, the only thing Norne has over Samto is her skill.

UqXH5Nq.png?1

Astram single handedly slashes a paladin to bits. He didn't even need a rainbow potion this chapter. Just the starsphere.

This is the part where you call him the strongest man in the continent.

B9W8jNL.png?1

If you think Frost is genuinely an awful unit, you'd be wrong, and foolish, and ugly.

At the very least, he can use physic at base, so you always have someone should you be trying to ironman this game, but suck.

This will be Frost's main thing getting him xp throughout the run.

b638RKv.png?1

There was a sale on bread over at the local village to the left. Everyone rushes there, including the northern paladins. Bord wasn't quite as interested, so he takes this time to prank one of the enemies by waiting to trip them over. Yuborous, being the SoV fanboy that he is, goes cave exploring, and finds an arms scroll during his short journey.

IHOWyLi.png?1

The prank went flawlessly. The paladin fell right of their horse and cracked their skull open upon landing.

jGMo0ZG.png?1

Bord should be fine, but not everyone here is a stud. There are a lot of cavs within the Wolfguard platoon.

miWq0xe.png?1

This many to be exact. That's a lie. There's one more horseman above, but they're a nobody. They got under a 3.0 GPA, which directly translates into being a failure of a person.

This turn was tricky to plan out, as some of my units simply can't outrun the Wolfguard. Normally, Marth could easily reach the village with Feena, but we all know by now that fun is determined by losing everything.

bIDFsET.png?1

If there's one thing Sheema cares about, it's getting that bread. In fact, it is the only thing she cares about.  She musters up the might of Gra do finish off a paladin who had already been shot in every limb.

Don't worry. I didn't actually give her a rainbow potion here. She's not THAT weak.

EsvD8PK.png?1

iitTary.png?1

Sheema has to be someone's waifu, so I expect that person to thank me for dedicating my entire army into protecting her. Many units of mine were unequipped, as to not accidentally kill the Wolfguard. This wouldn't be a problem if they had competent stats. Really, the next chapter would be much easier if they were much stronger, even as enemies. Then again, if it was my choice, I would make them unrecruitable (aside from little ol Roshea), and then they'd all serve as Heimlers who chase you down as mini bosses. After all, you can't recruit them in Old Mystery, and Wolf is just going to kill himself in the epilogue anyways. Screw saving everyone. Can you imagine Roshea's talk with Vyland just being like Olwen and Reindhart? Vlyand gives Roshea something hilariously busted (like a f**king master lance), is locked to him, and then they proceed to fight?  Tell me that isn't the coolest thing this game could've offered!

OQxolgQ.png?1

At least Sedgar doesn't get 1RKO'd from a hand axe. That'd be sad, considering how low its might is.

oTXbIfX.png?1

4 damage.

With that pathetic display of power out of the way, Marth finally arrives at the market where he can get some canned bread. Surprisingly enough, the king of Aurelis just so happened to be there shopping as well.

PXu1xC4.png?1

Marth: "No s**t...Trust the guy with red eyes..."

King: "Enough. My ship sails in the morning. I wonder what's for dinner?"

Marth: "I'm leaving."

Wolf: "I've got you now!"

Wolf shoots at Marth, but he swiftly dodges the arrow, causing it to instead strike the bread that the king was about to eat.

King: "....."

Wolf: "Damn you Marth! You must die!"

King: "Enough."

Wolf: "You don't control us anymo-"

King: "Enough."

Wolf: "Bu-"

King: "Enough."

Wolfguard Paladin #5: "Does that me-"

King: "Enough."

Just like that, everyone begins to slowly retreat, mostly out of the uncomfortable vibe Wolf caused.

Marth: "Oh...cool."

Before Marth returned to the battlefield, the king handed him a cool looking sphere.

King: "If you don't hear from me in a month, send dinner."

ey1OJMP.png?1

Now that the paladins are retreating, I can freely attack everyone without consequences. I start off by having Bord chip away at someone, and he continues to be one of my units.

aW6LyDp.png?1

By the way, I actually gave Samto the rainbow potion when the chapter started. I only needed it to increase his defense, and I had no defense bonds. I tried making up for that by not giving Astram or Sheema the drug. Right now though, what matters is getting him to reach B bows.

8WQnA30.png?1

You know, if I gave Astram a dracoshield, he could take 3 hits. A shame I'm obligated to give them all to Bantu. Feel free to suggest which stat boosters I should prioritize in the shop. I already used all speedwings, but I still can get angelic robes, strength drops, dracoshields, lamp oil.

QRm0oSy.png?1

g2pF9Gq.png?1

Good news. Sheema's growths are really good, and you'll be seeing growths like these very often from her. Bad news. Her speed is so bad that she will still always be doubled throughout the entire run, making her defense never matter. Even if she caps speed, it will be a at a point where enemies exceed 24 speed. Once she gets enough HP and defense to survive 1 round of combat, the only stat that will matter is her strength, which is 15 less than Matthis right now.

cgJMHBY.png?1

Rather than shoot through an ally like Samto does, Norne shoots her arrow above Bord. The arrow soars through the skies. The theif watches in awe, until it lands lands directly between their eyes.

And then Samto shot Bord.

VguRBEO.png?1

Belf slays the armor that the horseman encased their emotions in. The man begins to cry from the overwhelming emotions that they didn't know how process anymore.

And then Samto shot them.

WYo5LEA.png?1

On turn 4, Belf chases down another horseman to put them out of their misery before someone else does. More importantly, I've blocked the Funky Four from their escape route.

S5JUIcP.png?1

Belf continues to be Bord 2.0. More HP. Less defense and weapon rank.

rD5gzPU.png?1

Okay...

For some reason, when I was posting this on imgur to post here, I was warned that this image was 18+.

What the f**k.

YXr4Ik5.png?1

Yubello gifts the arms scroll to Frost. Frost was delighted from this, as he enjoys reading scrolls of all kinds. It's never too late to learn something new after all. With this one though, he learned how to weild the mighty Excalibur.

CL3ldYH.png?1

After seeing how submissive and breedable Roshea is, Sheema decided to start shooting arrows at him to put him in his place. Unsurprisingly, he doesn't fight back.

TeTqGNL.png?1

Finding great joy in seeing the meek paladin get bullied by slightly lethal arrows, Catria completely blocks his path, preventing him and all of the Funky Four from leaving. Belf was unfortunately stuck in all of this, and now he's also trapped with the Wolfguard. He tried to protest, but Catria just kicked him in the shin.

haRh2Ay.png?1

After about 5 minutes of shenanigans, Vyland can no longer tolerate the utter embarrassment they being being forced to endure, and he tries to kill the one person who's the least responsible for this, Belf. Sheema begins to attack Vyland instead, and Roshea cries to Wolf about being bullied. Wolf considers aiming his bow at himself, and Sedgar keeps saying "Shoo, go away!" to Catria, who giggles at their expense.

DpUk23R.png?1

On turn 8, while all of that is still happening, Yubuffoon grabs the attention of Archanean soldiers by telling them of the sale on bread over at the village.

I now know that Archaneans hate bread, as they just tried to kill him.

ZORadu9.png?1

I'm starting to think tanky berserkers are a bit unbalanced...it's probably just me though. This game can do no wrong after all. Just look at chapter 20x.

MgqLhWN.png?1

The goal is to bait them all out of the range of the ballistaes, as I really want to feed kills to units of my choice. Yubremains in range of the armors for chip damage, and Wrys obtains his final level up.

aNNg5Zm.png?1

YES!!!

You love to see it!

eSm3RkV.png?1

It was upsetting to see Yubrotherhood landing criticals and stealing kills, but at least Astram took out one of the knights. I wish enemies had a luck skill...

P2RWS3D.png?1

While I don't really have the screenshots for it, he barely survived the enemy turn. His reward for that was of course, not strength.

pLdOhDQ.png?1

CHIzFEr.png?1

That's...kind of underwhelming.

By the way, I've noticed how awful his HP and defense are. I don't think it's even worth giving him any angelic robes. Like, he's just dead. Even his speed is problematic. Everything's going to double him even with a speedwing. I meant it when I said I would kill Gharnef with the guy, making me more Frost than the Frost fan himself, but there's no way this man is fighting Hardin.

yeW5sEa.png?1

I'm getting bored of just retreating over and over. Shooting Roshea and Vyland with Sheema was more fun. She even started choking one of them with the actual bow, then flipped them to the ground. Don't ask Belf what happened though. He doesn't want to talk about it.

9jTlwdn.png?1

Does anyone know if a 44 magnum can actually pierce through armor?

XIUmqBi.png?1

lPXBysC.png?1

Finally, Sheema got bored of traumatizing Roshea and repeatedly bringing Vyland to a near death state where he'd be healed only to get hurt again. She goes after the generals for a funny level up, and the Wolfguard finally escape. This is a great way to relieve pent out stress/frustration.

C11Nbge.png?1

SUkxTY5.png?1

Even the strongest men have their moments of weakness. His growths aren't Est tier. Can't fret over every bad level.

YhQhV89.png?1

Norne caps her speed, allowing her to doubled most things in chapter 20. This is great, but 17 strength reminds me of my endgame Ingrid.

X4hB3D1.png?1

sXBw84E.png?1

How does this keep happening?

At long last, he has obtained the precious B rank.

dBaif85.png?1

On turn 14, Catria defeats the random general who isn't even named. Now how can I make a bad joke about them?

Why do you have a master seal? Who's going to promote this late in the game? Est? Even she's usually promoted by now for me, and you'd be likely to use chapter 16's elysian whip. Bad game.

Nothing pleases me more than benefiting from committing war crimes and atrocities upon mankind.

This chapter and chapter 19 are one of the only instances in which bishops are unarmed across all difficulties. In chapter 15 and 16, most bishops only have staves on normal and hard, but are given bolgonones on manaic and super manaic mode. Had a bit of a chat about this, and I find the idea of Sheema beating up an unarmed magic unit pretty nice, but apparently that makes me evil. Next I'm going to be told it's wrong to blow up towns even though the game let me.

kKcXQFX.png?1

I could've seized on turn 15, but it's been so long since Marth got a kill. I wanted him to level up.

He didn't.

7EcJhHe.png?1

I chose to wait until turn 19 to seize so Frost could level up one last time. I can imagine Ruben crying if I didn't. I could've kept going, but I would like to at least have a BIT of integrity left here, so I seized after this.

I8lbC4h.png?1

Marth: "Finally, we're getting there. Next stop, the capitol of Archanea."

Samto: "I've always wanted to see Hardin's House of Pleasure."

Marth: "Man...that's not funny dude. It's just gross."

Samto: "No dude. That's actually the name he gave it."

Marth: "Gods dammit..."

Belf: "Wait a minute...how did we even encounter Hardin's 4 retainers!? Most of them died 3 years ago!"

Marth: "Belf...who cares? F**king necromancy exists. Anytthing's possible. Death doesn't matter anymore."

Belf: "Yes but, this is still bizarre, is it not!? The organization could be working with Hardin!"

Marth: "I mean, yeah. They probably are. They're both bad guys. So?"

Belf: "I-I-Does this mean nothing to you people!?"

Marth: "Not really."

The conversation ended there. They head to the capitol for what might be their most grueling battle yet.

But not before Catria kicked Belf in the shin again.

@Shaky Jones

Basically its later revealed that Gangrel didn't actually care about Ylisse's crusade and was just using it to his advantage. The Japanese website and his supports make no mention of the crusade, the former claiming he hates the world due to growing up in Plegia's slums with other plegians mistreating him and the latter claiming he wanted to unite Ylisse to fight against Walhart.

Interesting factoid on Hero Yubello in the card game!

This guy was the Hierarch.

Also how do you quote like that?

King: "Enough."

Wolf: "You don't control us anymo-"

King: "Enough."

Wolf: "Bu-"

King: "Enough."

Wolfguard Paladin #5: "Does that me-"

King: "Enough."

Just like that, everyone begins to slowly retreat, mostly out of the uncomfortable vibe Wolf caused.

Marth: "Oh...cool."

Before Marth returned to the battlefield, the king handed him a cool looking sphere.

King: "If you don't hear from me in a month, send dinner."

This whole section of the update has made your LP's humor a lot, MMMMMMMMM... richer!

You know, if I gave Astram a dracoshield, he could take 3 hits. A shame I'm obligated to give them all to Bantu.

Don't feel too bad. He's not known as the sturdiest man in the continent, after all.

Remind me, did the person who drafted her specify she needed to be a general? If not, you'd probably be better off reclassing her. Matthis is just going to make her look bad in her base class, unfortunately...

Belf continues to be Bord 2.0. More HP. Less defense and weapon rank.

Drip tho

Okay...

For some reason, when I was posting this on imgur to post here, I was warned that this image was 18+.

What the f**k.

Catria is too disgusting for the eyes of children. Bench her.

Yubello gifts the arms scroll to Frost. Frost was delighted from this, as he enjoys reading scrolls of all kinds. It's never too late to learn something new after all.

That sounds so like Frost.

After seeing how submissive and breedable Roshea is, Sheema decided to start shooting arrows at him to put him in his place. Unsurprisingly, he doesn't fight back.

"Fall to my might, damnable Archanean!"

"Mm yes, step on me Mommy."

"What?"

"You heard me."

"I will pretend I did not."

"Aw."

The Funky Four lol. I like that. Also, how did I never think to do this, myself? These four are so grindable, I never even realized...

Relatable Wolf lolololololololololol

Honestly though, Sedgar's got the right idea. Catria doesn't have too much confidence. Tell her to go away enough, and she might suffer an emotional meltdown. The giggles are merely an attempt at a distraction from the tears.

YES!!!

You love to see it!

What a way to cap off his levelling career. Way to go, bald man.

While I don't really have the screenshots for it, he barely survived the enemy turn. His reward for that was of course, not strength.

How many times must I tell you about positive reinforcement? Of course he doesn't get strength, you're not asking nicely!

By the way, I've noticed how awful his HP and defense are.

Yes. Relative to his join time, Frost's bulk is on par with the clerics. Hey, he's just a grateful old grandpa, what did you expect?

I meant it when I said I would kill Gharnef with the guy, making me more Frost than the Frost fan himself, but there's no way this man is fighting Hardin.

Do it, you coward. Don't leave me room to surpass you.

Even the strongest men have their moments of weakness. His growths aren't Est tier. Can't fret over every bad level.

Makin' the strongest of all men here, Marth!

Nothing pleases me more than benefiting from committing war crimes and atrocities upon mankind.

Too true, man. Too true.

I chose to wait until turn 19 to seize so Frost could level up one last time. I can imagine Ruben crying if I didn't.

He's trying his best. That's all you can ask of him.

Belf: "I-I-Does this mean nothing to you people!?"

Marth: "Not really."

The conversation ended there. They head to the capitol for what might be their most grueling battle yet.

But not before Catria kicked Belf in the shin again.

Belf is stealing all of Marth's plot misery for his own lol.

There he is! We're at the end boys! Big guy's here!

I can't believe it. The final boss himself.
