As the topic and poll say, who from the Mega Man series should they add next as a fighter in Smash 6? The Poll entries I've listed are who I personally consider the most viable additions based on relevance and popularity, but if you have someone else you'd rather they add first, feel free to specify.

Spoiler

Proto Man - One of the most popular characters in the series, who got his start as Mega Man's first true rival and has since become the basis for many successor characters such as Zero. Gameplay wise, he'd be similar to Mega Man save for his shield, which would probably function a lot like Link and Hero's. Many of Proto Man's Special Weapons can be counterparts to those used by Mega Man, such as the Shadow Blade in place of Metal Blade or Skull Barrier in place of Leaf Shield. Proto Man's costumes reference various Special Weapon palettes.

Roll - Mega man and Proto Man's sister, who's become quite popular in her own right, thanks in part to her theme from Battle & Chase, Kaze Yo Tsutaete. She could be a gameplay clone of Mega Man like she was in Marvel Vs. Capcom, but later games gave her broom-centric movesets to give her more of her own identity. I figure it'd be best to compromise, with her Specials involving assist characters like Beat and Special Weapons like Jewel Satellite while her melee attacks make use of her broom. As a bonus, she's got plenty of costumes to pick from, including her MM8 and MM11 dresses, her racer outfit from Battle & Chase, and her DLC costumes from Powered Up.

Guts Man - The most iconic and popular Robot Master. If any of them are going to appear as a standalone fighter, it's the series' original big buy. His Super Arm would manifest as a mechanic that lets him carry large objects and other fighters with even greater ease than Donkey Kong, and his Specials can make use of Guts Blocks from Powered Up as well as Special Weapons like Power Stone and Concrete Shot, borrowed from similarly earthy Robot Masters. His costumes can likewise be a reference to similar characters such as Gamma, Stone Man, Concrete Man, and Block Man. Heck, they might even be able to include Stone Man and Concrete Man themselves as alternate skins, given their similar designs and builds, and they in turn could get color variants based on Block Man and Cement Man (a concept design for Concrete Man with a green color scheme).

Dr. Wily & Robot Masters - An idea that I haven't seen suggested a lot but which makes a lot of sense: Wily as a Pokemon Trainer-esque background character who deploys Robot Masters to fight for him. This would be a great way to incorporate some of the many Robot Masters Mega Man is famous for battling as playable characters, including possibly Guts Man himself. However, rather than allow the player to switch Robot Masters freely, you pick which one to start the match with, and whenever your current RM gets knocked out, if you have any stocks left, you get a brief window of time in which to pick a different Robot Master if you like. Most likely they'd go for four playable Robot Masters, though a full set of eight would be awesome. Costumes for the RMs could be tricky, but it'd be neat to see Wily use different Capsules and/or don his Mr. X disguise from MM6.

Bass - Mega Man's current rival, and arguably Wily's greatest creation (for now). Bass would likely mirror Mega Man quite closely in his moveset, the main difference being the choice of Special Weapons he uses, which would probably lean towards Mega Man 7, his debut appearance. Bass' costumes likewise chiefly reference Special Weapons from MM7, though he could get a few palettes from MM&B and MM10 as well.

X - Mega Man's successor from the Mega Man X series, a more advanced and more powerful (but also surprisingly lighter) iteration of the blue bomber who can dash, wall kick, and don armor parts in addition to using Special Weapons. Most of X's Special Weapons are chargeable (though he usually requires the Arm Parts upgrade for that), thus X's moveset could include the ability to charge Special Weapons. His Specials in particular could make use of the charged versions by default, like Speed Burner as a fiery dash and Storm Tornado as a vertical whirlwind that lifts X upwards. X doesn't have many melee weapons to speak of, but he was able to wield the Z-Saber in X3 and X6, so his F smash can be a Z-Saber slash and his F air can be Magma Blade as a reference to that. X's costume alts would likely consist chiefly of Special Weapon palettes, though his armors and Command Mission design could also work.

Zero - Perhaps the most popular character in the entire series, not to mention X's best friend and partner. Though he started as a purely buster-oriented fighter, Zero acquired his signature weapon, the Z-Saber, during X2, and ever since X4 has since distinguished himself as a primarily melee-oriented Hunter in contrast to X's preference for ranged weapons. That said, his moveset would pull mainly from the PS1 trilogy, where he really came into his own as a playable character, though Xtreme 2, X7, and X8 have some material to offer as well. Like X, Zero has the ability to wall kick and dash. His costume alts would have to include his Black Armor, which debuted in X4 and was most likely based on Fake Zero from X2,  as well as Zero Nightmare, who appeared in X6. For his final costume slot, Zero could get his original design from MMX1, distinguished by a slightly brighter shade of red to reflect how his sprite looked in the game.

Mega Man Volnutt - The protagonist of the Legends series, a cult classic among fans. Volnutt's moveset would be a little less flashy than those of his Classic and X counterparts, but would make good use of his various weapons such as the Blade Arm, Drill Arm, Machine Buster, and Powered Buster. Shining Laser would be an obvious choice for his Final Smash. Volnutt's costume alts would reference different Legends characters like Roll, Tron, Tiesel, Glyde, and Barrett, changing both his hair and armor colors, while the last two alts add a helmet, the second being colored yellow to reference Bon. Basically, a 6-2 split like Joker.

Tron Bonne - The most recurring antagonist of the Legends series, popular enough to get her own spinoff game (before Zero himself, no less!) and to appear in crossovers like Marvel Vs. Capcom before Volnutt himself. She'd pilot the Gustaff mech and command Servbots, like in her aforementioned spinoff, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

Zero (Z) - Zero's incarnation from the Mega Man Zero series, who wields a variety of weapons across his four titles including the Z-Buster, Z-Saber, Shield Boomerang, Triple Rod, Chain Rod, Recoil Rod, and Z-Knuckle. He also has access to various EX Skills gained by defeating bosses with an A Rank. Like his MMX incarnation, he can also wall kick and dash. Zero's costumes would all reference Forms from MMZ2: Energy, X, Defense, Erase, Active, Power, and Rise.

MegaMan.EXE - One of two protagonists of the Battle Network series, alongside his brother and operator, Lan Hikari. EXE is best known for using battle chips such as Cannon, Sword, Bomb, and Dash Attack. He can also use Program Advances, special moves resulting from a combination of Battle Chips, the most notable of which is LifeSword. His alts could reference Style Change, Double Soul, and Cross System: Hub Style, ElecGround, HeatShadow, Roll Soul, Proto Soul, Colonel Soul, and Aqua Cross.

Vent & Aile - The protagonists of Mega Man ZX, who use Biometals to transform. Their primary Biometal is Model X, who readily combines with Models Z, H, F, L, and P, granting them access to six primary combat forms. Vent and Aile would each get four costumes total: their base designs from ZX, their ZXA designs, orange variants of their ZX designs that reference their successors Ashe and Grey, a red variant of ZXA Vent that references Giro, and a pink variant of ZXA Aile that references Prairie.

Geo Stelar - The protagonist of Mega Man Starforce, who teams up with an EM Being named Omega-Xis to transform into Mega Man. In contrast to the Battle Chips of the Battle Network series, Geo uses Battle Cards, though the function is similar.

EDIT: I'm aware Ultimate won't have any more DLC fighters. This topic is in regards to Smash 6, which will happen because Smash is a moneymaker and fans always want more. At the very least, think of it as a "what if" scenario.
