Admittedly it's a hypothesis, but when you compare the map state when Claude is Barbarossa vs on foot in Trailer 1:

1. Claude's minimap sprite is still on a wyvern in both instances (bizarrely both him on the white wyvern and while an infantry display it as Wyvern Master's sprite)

2. The overall map state is effectively the same save for the positions of Claude, the Demonic Beast, and one random enemy with the triple up chevron (probably a flier captain).

Okay. I'm willing to take that as evidence. It seems conclusive to me. Dismounting at least exists for Claude. Whether that's because they added it to all mounted classes or whether they didn't want to give Claude two dedicated lord class lines (mounted and unmounted), that's the question.

Wouldn't need a weapon swap mechanic for a class to have access to multiple weapons, you'd just equip which one you want to use before the battle starts and that determines which moveset you get, which is actually exactly how Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce worked back when they were originally messing with giving characters access to more than one weapon in that series.

Anyways, the Dancer this one should be interesting, considering its regular Dance skill would translate as a gameplay mechanic rather than as a skill when in the framing of a Warriors title

Likelihood: I.....actually don't find Dancer being that likely this time around, if only due to the nature of having to pick one character to become the Dancer...Doesn't exactly fit with how it was framed in 3H where the teacher had to decide. At the same time it's popular and was one of the defining aspects of 3H, so I'll give it a 5/10 likelihood

Want: On the other hand, I would really like to see how the class would work, so an easy 8/10 on the want scale.

Weapon Types: Sword, with access to magic combat arts

Skills

Special Dance:  Refills your special gauge whenever you dance, based on the number of troops and captains effected by the dance. Effectively how the support skills work in Samurai Warriors. Without this your dance just does a stat increase for anyone effected by your dance. This would be the only skill granted by the class itself, the rest would have to be filled in from skills obtained through other means

Playstyle: A sword user with a focus of attacking around themselves rather than in front, with magic combat art access to supplement their moveset. They would have a stock system similar to what Claude w/Wyvern, Dimitri, and Shez seem to have, which allows them to do dances, though dancing is most beneficial if you have the Special Dance skill equipped. Dancing could provide a movement speed boost normally, but also apply any rallies you have equipped? Regardless, it'd be a class you'd switch to after getting the skills you want, rather than something you rush for.

When I say weapon swap, I'm including the possibility of pre-battle weapon changes, because it's the exact same amount of development work. We just don't have any evidence for that right now.

I think there is a cool, realistic implementation of such.

Let's say the base axe infantry moveset of Fighter and the base sword moveset of Myrmidon are both useable by the Hero. It gets new Strong V and Strong VI strings and new combat arts on top of those base movesets. But the Strong V/Strong VI strings and combat arts it gets are different from those that the Warrior adds to the Fighter and the Swordmaster adds to the Myrmidon.

I'm personally of the mind combat arts will stay being mostly character based, with maybe one granted on mastering a class, especially since the combat arts themselves can level up. As for the combos, thats effectively how they worked in FEW anyways, as outside of awakening mode, you couldn't get C5 and C6 until you promoted, and the trailer seems to imply that intermediate classes are the baseline this time around anyways. I'm honestly for this system of adding to combos as it keeps classes flexible while still having some uniqueness to them

Day 6 - Dark Knight

Likelihood - 9/10

Want - 9/10

Weapon type - tome probably. Could be lance with spells enabled and some magical attack strings.

Tomefaire

Seal Resistance could work like Luna.

Slow Burn from Awakening could be a fun ramp-up buff that increases your Skill and Luck as you KO enemies.

My favorite dark knight is Hapi. I also like Lorenz, Hubert, and Hanneman.

Dark Knight

Likelihood - 7, it's a gender neutral mounted magic wielding class. Honestly if there were some way to merge Valkyrie and Dark Knight conceptually I'd prefer that...

Desire - 7, admittedly I'd probably be more open to raising the score here if all three cavalry magical classes specialised in a different magic discipline (Valkyrie leaning Black and Dark Knight leaning Dark), but the number of *convincing* Dark Magic wielders is still rather low.

Characters - Sylvain, Hapi, maybe Lorenz (I forgot Hanneman has Riding boon, but even so he feels a bit more infantry suited)

Moveset - mounted mage moveset from FEW is a good starting point, but with less of the light based magic. Given the weak association with lance proficiency, having a lance skill somewhere would be interesting, but not necessary for all characters (Sylvain and Lorenz feel better suited to it)

Skills - Tomefaire is self evident. Canto is as I've discussed previously. Seal Res could be an on-hit debuff to enemies where subsequent magic attacks are more potent.

This reminds me of a weapon skill in either FEW or AoC; interesting manoeuvre to lock it to a magical class...

Combat Arts - possibly a variant of Frozen Lance depending on the magical inclination of characters?

---

For the record, the recent Famitsu article (translation by BlackKite and further discussion on the site) suggests that the preferred classes for Hubert / Dedue / Hilda are Dark Mage / Armoured Knight / Brigand respectively.

Day 7 - Halberdier

Likelihood - 5/10. The series has an unacceptable tendency to cut this class and its equivalents in most games for no reason, and 3H is no exception. But I'll bump it up because otherwise they'd have to make Soldier exclusive to Dimitri or get rid of it entirely. No way they allow an entire moveset to be passed up at its base tier (or made dismount-exclusive).

Want - 1,000/10. Halberdier is my favorite FE class.

Moveset - I picture the soldier and halberdier moveset playing like a Roman phalanx. Defensive kneeling with the shield while unleashing rapid jabs. Possibly some shield strikes.

Users - I would use Ferdinand or Seteth with the Spear of Assal.

Skills -

Lancefaire

Bunker - improved blocking, gain access to powerful counterattack on perfect block

Counter - chance to reflect damage

What’s a Halberdier?

https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Halberdier

Promoted Soldier i.e. infantry lance. The archetype has certainly been unfairly pigeoned into an enemy exclusive role far too often (like even though the infantry axes are the more immediate thought of enemy grunts, they have sizeable playable representation...)

===

Halberdier (or should we go all the way to Sentinel / Spear Master?)

Likelihood - 4.5. As awful as having lances only go to cavalry or pegasus is, I honestly feel like they won't stray too far from established 3H canon here. And leaving poor Dimitri alone...

Desire - 8. Conversely the lance infantry moveset is amazing (we possibly could see it for dismounted lance cavalry and pegasi, but I'd rather see it on its own merits with a full combo tree).

Characters - other than Dimitri, Ingrid / Sylvain / Ashe, Ferdinand, Leonie, maybe Lorenz, Seteth perhaps.

Moveset - something along the lines of a blend of AoC Spear Link and Oboro. Probably would still lean into a defensive sort of combat style (compared with Swordmaster / Warrior), but more mobile than Armoured Knights. I'd feel like any shield this class has would be cosmetic.

Skills - looking to both Tellius and Fateslandia here. Lancefaire perhaps, or maybe Lance Critical to contrast with Paladin. Perhaps Seal Speed? (though this wouldn't really be useful if Spd is still tied to Awakening; if it affected attack and dodge speed however...). Vengeance perhaps could be changed from a lance combat art into a skill?

Combat Arts - Pierce could be an interesting Tellius mastery skill to convert to a combat art. Otherwise Shatter Slash, Swift Strikes, Lance Jab.

I'd personally rather not necessarily view Halberdier as equivalent to Spear Master. Would really love both. One is the soldier, and the other the martial artist. One is more defensive, and the other potentially more glass. Real potential for different flavors.

That said, I definitely view Halberdier as a substantially more likely dlc class, alongside playable Gatekeeper.

Day 8 - War Monk

On the dividing line of physical and magical, this is Balthus' preferred class. I'm going to give it 6/10 likelihood and 10/10 want.

I view it as an alternative grappler, possibly rearranged to be the master tier grappler (to make up for Warrior -> Warmaster), with spells enabled.

As such, I picture it sharing the grappler moveset of rapid, fierce strikes and juggles, with magical flourishes in its late combo strings.

Skills include:

Pneuma Gale - magical shockwave

Fierce Iron Fist (maybe, if it promotes from Grappler)

Fistfaire

White Magic Heal +10

Countermagic

I would love to use this class on Linhardt.

Heh, forgot GK would use a lance given he matches the uniform of a soldier.

War Monk (+/- War Cleric I guess?)

Likelihood - 6.5, but might bump this higher if it were DLC locked (why exactly, for typical IS/KT DLC baiting I suppose)

Desire - 7. Although not particularly canon, they could make this a more mystical martial artist (and I guess add to the slightly eastern theme of some classes like Mortal Savant and even the Swordmaster line overall)

Characters - Balthus, perhaps for those brawling Marianne memes, and possibly even Annette if we consider axes as the tertiary proficiency. Probably also a crack reclass for a playable Rhea (assuming this isn't already partially covered by Archbishop or Saint)

Moveset - if Brawler / Grappler is the oppressive side of fistfighting, this would be the subversive. Still nimble with fist flurries, but with perhaps a touch more athleticism married with ki styled Cx type moves that also possibly have an AoE white magic buff? It's a bit tricky to add a reference to axes so it might be limited to whichever characters have more of an axe proficiency.

Skills - Fistfaire is self explanatory. Having them have Heal on command is probably expected. Countermagic actually would be an interesting choice on them, especially if we stack Tomebreaker as well...

Combat Arts - most certainly Pneuma Gale, Fierce Iron Fist would be a great carryover too. Perhaps even a physical Nosferatu-like combat art that siphons health on combo hit?

Day 9 - Bow Knight

To me, this will forever be the Bernadetta class, and I don't know if I'd use any bow knight over her.

9/10 likelihood, 10/10 want.

Bowfaire is likely.

Bow Crit +10 maybe, which would increase the chances of random proc effects, or increase the damage of break gauge crits, whichever is practical.

Canto seems like a good bet.

I think a hit-and-run style combat art would be a good fit. Something that sends out a volley of arrows while retreating.

I don't think Bow Range increases will be a thing here.

Bow Knight

Likelihood - 8.5

Desire - 9

Characters - Bernadetta, Leonie

Moveset - I'd be quite open for a mobile shoot-while-on-the-move playstyle with c1 possibly being a mounted equivalent of the infantry C1 from FEW. I'd expect the mount to be among the most acrobatic.

Skills - Bowfaire is straightforward. Maybe Fistbreaker? (I'd focus more on Deadeye related stuff on Sniper). Bowrange actually would have a purpose of extending the effective range of the AOE arrow strikes, though I'd feel like maybe the focus should be on arrow density for absolute crowd control...

Combat Arts - depending on the availability, I'd be inclined to put Hunter's Volley here over Point-Blank Volley (which would be for Sniper). A bit hard to decide what debuff bow combart arts to choose, though Encloser would be an interesting choice.
