Anyone else been noticing the occasional spam accounts?

I don't know if it's just me (and hopefully this is the right subforum for this), but I've been noticing the occasional... "odd ducks" from time to time. I've been reporting things that have looked out of place when I see them, and it's usually from accounts that are recently created and make one or two posts, which are typically close to around the same time that the account was created, and then there isn't any other engagement after that to indicate that it could be a real person. They usually don't have profile pictures, and their posts will often contain links to websites. Sometimes it's just a link, other times it's random nonsense. Sometimes it's just one account at a time, other times there are a couple of 'em.

(I've seen at least one or two instances of what appeared to be two different topics by two different accounts having the same exact post around the same time, if not exactly at the same time).

I feel like it's been happening more recently, too, within at least the past 6 months, give or take? Maybe longer, I dunno. I don't think I ever noticed anything like that a couple of years ago. How long has this issue been going on? Is there anything that can be done or is being done about it to fix or prevent it? I'm not sure how it is on the mods' ends, but I'm curious about it nonetheless.

I suggested an moderation queue to Eclipse, once; but I don't really expect anything out of it. However, what I usually see is someone posting gibberish on something that's unrelated and the most that I've seen is two threads.

Just be glad that it's not those porn comments that you see on YouTube.

Sadly it seems that most mods haven't been nearly as active lately.

TBF, SF hasn't been all that active lately. Message boards are kinda dying in this day and age, and being a specifically Fire Emblem forum, the lack of a new not-spinoff game isn't helping either. Fire Emblem Heroes is old and the initial hailstorm of attention it brought has faded too.

Spam accounts seem inevitable on any website, and if the response rate on SF is slow, well it's because we really need another big FE announcement.

Well, it's not like that we start an violent argument against each other, each day. But at any rate, does anyone around here has erectile dysfunction?

Maybe 3 Hopes will bring an influx of new users to the forums or maybe it'll be as mediocre as it looks. But we're overdue for another mainline game and it shouldn't be that hard to set out the framework for one.

But there's always the possibility of someone actually  making their own FE-inspired game that isn't an ROMhack.

I mean, someone is actually running an tutorial on how to do make an SRPG.

...Or we could rebrand  the forum as one for strategy games.

There have been a lot of obvious bots lately, for sure.

Literally nothing in the world has improved since 2006 except processor speeds, which enables the rest of the world to descend into hell faster.
